The Voices, the new Heroes of Earthbread

Decades after the defeat of Dark Enchantress Cookie, a new menace appeared: Shadow Witch Cookie.

The Ancient Heroes, GingerBrave & Friends, and other cookies tried to stop her, but their attacks only made her stronger in their first fight against her... All, but ten Cookies, graced with Soul Jelly, sources of Light and Dark magic, balancing each other, also called The Voices.

The ten Cookies, split into two teams, work together to find a way to stop Shadow Witch Cookie and her minions.

Team 1:

Choco Duo Cookie

Son of Pure Vanilla and Dark Cacao, half-brother of Dark Choco and full brother of Trichoco, Choco Duo, also known as Chocoduo, Double Cacao Chocolate (full name), or "The prince of Secrets", is a young man who has a memory as good as Tarte Tatin Cookie.

As a child, he lost his arms and legs to save a dragon egg. As a thank you, the egg's mother replaces his lost limbs with new ones made of Cake Dragon's dough with the help of Red Velvet Cookie. The dough, at first shaped like Cookie limbs, became more and more like dragon's, and the boy became, well, half Dragon.

Today, he is one of the pretenders of the title of Dragon King (despite himself), and created the Two Moons Crescent Court with his lover Sunflower Cookie. He's always followed by North-Weast and South-Weast, two of the four little dragons following him and his sister around (who look a lot like the Twins Dragons ...)

His Soul Jelly is an orange crescent moon, the Voice of Memory, placed on his chest.

Trio Choco Cookie

Daughter of Pure Vanilla and Dark Cacao, half-sister of Dark Choco, and full sister of Choco Duo, Trio Choco, known more as Trichoco, Triple Bittersweet Vanilla Chocolate, or Tritri by her bothers, is a young woman who's a hothead and loves fighting. She is the youngest sibling.

She is a big admirer of Berries Choco Cookie, Dark Choco's late mother, and wishes to be just like her: great and powerful. She loves her friends and family more than anything, but she will find any reason to train with them at any hour of the day and night. Even if she's known as the Voice of Victory, it is not unusual for her to lose her fights against her friends and loved ones.

Today, she is one of Dark Choco's advisors. She's always followed by North-East and South-East, two of the four little dragons following her and her brother around (who look a lot like the Twins Dragons ...). She is best friends with Pepper Jelly Cookie.

Her Soul Jelly is a red spike, the Voice of Victory, placed at the end of her spear.

Sunflower Cookie

Sunflower Cookie, previously known as Yellow Rose Cookie, is the eldest child of the Roses Family and Choco Duo's lover and "mind guard".

When they were a child, they were abandoned by their mother, Burgundy Rose, in the woods where she gave them up to the hungry beasts living there. In their journey to find a new home, they meet Choco Duo, who had run away from the Citadel due to the bully the little prince got from being a new half-dragon. After convincing the boy to go home and with the help of one of Affogato's icecream clones, the two children manage to go back to the Citadel, and seeing how much the freckled cookie helped his son, Pure Vanilla proposes to the child to stay with them.

Sunflower is a protective cookie that will hold grudges on anyone who hurts Choco Duo. One of his catchphrases is "The prince is merciful. I am not."

Their Soul Jelly is a turquoise crescent moon, the Voice of Reason, placed on his staff, on the sunflower's heart.

Blackberry Nightshade Cookie

Blackberry Nightshade, also known as Nightshade, is a citizen of the Hollyberry Kingdom and the youngest member of the team.

Born without arms, she uses the little of magic she has to make some and can sometimes turn them into claws.

She met Choco Duo, Trio Choco and Sunflower when the two royal siblings came to visit Hollyberry Cookie. The young girl was dared by her mean cousins to ask the prince to be her friend while handing her claw for a shake in public. The prince happily accepted it, to the surprise of every Hollyberian, including Nightshade, until she saw the two clawed hands around hers.

Today, she is a dancer in the Hollyberry Palace and is in a relationship with Pineberry Cookie.

Her Soul Jelly is a deep blue berry, the Voice of Resolutness, placed on her chest.

Tenili Cookie

Tenili Cookie is a decapitated mummy-like Cookie and the oldest member of the Voices with Seaglass Cookie.

Tenili is a silly daydreamer who loves butterflies, to the point he cut his soul jelly to give it a butterfly shape. He sometimes sent one of his butterflies to give hope to his friends.

Before joining the Team, Tenili "lived" mostly in the Digital Golden Cheese Kingdom, using his stips connecting his body parts to "fly" around (Spiderman-like). He is in a relationship with Seaglass Cookie.

His Soul Jelly is a marron butterfly, previously an oval, the Voice of Hope, placed on his hair.

Team 2:

Frangipane Cookie

Frangipane Cookie is the fourth child of Clotted Cream, Financier, Wildberry and Crunchy Chip. She is the biological daughter of Clotted Cream and Financier. She is the future head of Scone-Custard House and a talented technician and inventor. Her mentors are Espresso, Strawberry Crepe, and Mulled Juice.

She has to use a cane to walk medium to long distances and use her inventions for travel.

Frangipane is a very serious Cookie, to the point she sometimes starts fights with Trio Choco or Alpha Cookie. Although she likes children, they don't usually like her back, including her little siblings at first, which makes her a bit sad. Surprisingly, she is best friends with Seaglass Cookie. She is in a relationship with Jelly Pepper Cookie.

Her Soul Jelly is a peach clover-like, the Voice of Justice, placed on her shoulderplate.

Pineberry Cookie

Pineberry Cookie is the child of Strawberry and Wizard Cookie and the godchild of Gingerbrave and Custard Cream III.

Pineberry was born with only one eye, their Soul Jelly replacing the missing one. They use their magic scarf as a weapon, mostly as a shield, but have a good manipulation of ice magic.

They are a bit shy, but also pretty smart, usually the one the team asks for new plans or advice when Frangipane is unavailable. They are in a relationship with Blackberry Nightshade Cookie.

Their Soul Jelly is a white/ pale colors four branch star, the Voice of Forgiveness, placed where his left eye should have been.

Seaglass Cookie

Seaglass is a Gem Mermaid squid-like Cookie and the oldest member of the Voices with Tenili Cookie.

Little is known about Seaglass, but if you are somewhere with a source of water near, you can expect him to burst out of it and either cause trouble or help the ones in need.

Seaglass is a malicious troublemaker, but he loves children and babysits the Berries Triplets (WildChip's second set of triplets) often. He is best friends with Frangipane and in a relationship with Tenili Cookie.

His Soul Jelly is a black tear shape, the Voice of Vengeance, placed on his belt.

Pomegranate Mochi Cookie

Pomegranate Mochi Cookie, also known as Mochi Cookie, is one of Dark Enchantress Cookie's clones, created by Matcha Cookie.

Created to be a perfect clone of DE, Matcha treated her harshly, believing it would make her more evil, and therefore more powerful, than their original source, despite the love for her daughter. It however backfired, making Mochi powerful but kinder. When Shadow Witch steals DE powers, Matcha and Mochi run away with Red Velvet and the Cake army to warn the Heroes of the danger.

In the Creme Republic, she meets the Gem Mermaid Carnelian Cookie and falls in love with her. The only ones to know her secret are Choco Duo and Seaglass.

Her Soul Jelly is a purple pie, the Voice of Union, placed on her Shamisen.

Pepper Jelly Cookie

Pepper Jelly is the son of Eternal Sugar and Burning Spice and the first cookie who was able to injure Shadow Witch Cookie.

Unlike his parents, Pepper Jelly wants to help cookies, and works hard to prove he is a "good cookie". He is the first to find a way to hit Shadow Witch Cookie.

Pepper Jelly is a loud and brave cookie, who doesn't hesitate to jump into battle. His best friend is Trio Choco Cookie and he is in a relationship with Frangipane Cookie.

His Soul Jelly is a light green kite, the Voice of Trust, placed on his chest.

#there's this blackberry tree //apparently it's called mulberry// outside #it ripes in April and May and the birds are partying so hard from dawn till dusk these days #the recording from a couple of weeks ago in Ramadan when people woke up late so it's quite #the pic from 2015 it's much bigger now #sadly almost everything else got cut a few months after this picture was taken to build apartment complexes #recorded with my 11 years old samsung duos which surprisingly records better than my newer one #cut with wavepad that I keep on my harddisk bc I couldn't find a simple app that just split the audio normally #I downloaded it in 2016 #I could've cut it with the mobile itself but I also needed to convert it to mp3 #I just wanted the first half that didn't contain people voices/noises #I miss when operating systems came with programs and you don't have to pay for everything seperatly sigh

Daryl dating the team's herbalist >>>

A/N: Just warning you, it's quite long this time! :')

He would have met you in the woods, during the prison era. You both went for the same bush of blackberries, the archer immediatly going for his crossbow. You rose your hands in the air, insisting on the fact you weren't a threat.

"I won't try to hurt you. Matter of fact, the only weapon I got on me is a knife, and that's for the eaters."

He usually wasn't this easy-going, but for some reason he trusted you. You watched as he put his crossbow back.

"Are ya alone?"

You nodded without thinking, getting some more blackberries in the pockets of your apron.

"And you, are you alone?"

"I got a group, a few miles from here."

He did not try and tell you where it was. To be fair, you did not really care. You only wanted to go home and make some blackberry jam with the sugar you had.

"Well, I wish you the best on your way back." You smiled at him, quickly getting away.

The apocalypse really helped you understanding the importance of the concept of "stranger danger". You quickly went back home, checking behind your shoulder a few times to make sure the archer wasn't following you.

A few days later, you came back to the same place, harvesting some plantain to make a homemade balm. You did not notice the eater slowly walking behind you, and when you finally saw him, it was too late. His rotten teeth kept clicking, and he was missing an eye. The view was truly horrifying, you could not help but let out a terrified scream, trying to get your knife in the large pockets of your apron. And as you could feel the creature's fetid breath on your skin, kicking his knees and stomach with all of your might, it suddenly fell down on its side.

You flinched as it touched the floor, and gave it a scared look. An arrow was placed in its head.

"Are ya bitten?"

You saw the archer, running towards you with a scared look. You could not respond yet, your heart apparently trying to get out of your chest. Trying to get a proper breathing cycle back was hard, and you felt tears on your cheeks.

"Are ya bitten?" He repeated, almost screaming at you.

You managed to shake your head, and he let out a sigh of relief. He kneeled at your level, seemingly kinder than before.

"Ya really should get some more weapon."

You let out a scared sob. The archer was awkward to your side, having no idea of what he was supposed to do. "Rick would have given them a hug", he thought. "And Carol would have tried inviting 'em home."

"Do ya want me to walk you home?"

You wiped your eyes with your sleeve, trying to gain some contenance.

"It's okay, I can do it."

You got up on shaky legs, obviously not fine. And Daryl let his inner Carol speak for him.

"If ya don't wanna be alone... I'm from the prison outside the forest, three miles from here... Our leader is nice and ya obviously have some plant skills, you'd be useful."

"That sounds great." You said with a soft, raspy voice.

Being alone was starting to get hard, and there was only so many books and magazines you could find during your short runs outside of the forest. You turned to Daryl.

"I live near here, I have many useful remedies that could be useful to your group. Will you help me bring them there?"

He silently nodded, and followed you home.

It took you a few days to be fully integrated in the group. Everyone deemed your skills useful, and soon enough you became Daryl's hunting partner. Your duo was cute, with him and his hunting gear, and you and your homemade apron filled with pockets, paper bags, and plastic containers. You would always come back with food for everyone, and your contribution to the medicine cabinet was appreciated by everyone.

It took two years for Daryl to dare asking you to be his partner. It was after the horrors of Terminus, and after seeing you almost get eaten by the cannibals. You obviously immediatly said yes, and nothing changed. He always teased you like he used to do before. The only slight difference was the few kisses you shared behind closed doors, and the numbers of runs augmenting.

Here's some small headcanons about your relationship:

You would have made him some relieving balm for his aching hunter muscle, and he would be so grateful for that. You would probably have to rub it on him yourself (just like you'd have to fight to patch him up, the man being a firm believer of the "it'll heal itself" theory), but after he saw how much it helped, he always remembered to carry some with him.

You taught him to recognize some important plants during your runs, and now, if for some reasons you cannot go with him, he would bring back handful of those plants to you.

If people are mean to Daryl or your group, you get them slightly sick. It took only one look at Spencer being a jerk to Glenn for you to give him a piece of vomiting-inducing chocolate that made him sick for the whole night. You're a healer first, but poisoner comes close second. And although Daryl is not feeling his best when you first arrive in Alexandria, the story would have made him snicker.

Daryl would be so comforted by your smell after a day spent making remedies. You smelled like the forest, and looked so cute covered in plant parts and berry stains. It was one of his favorite smells in the world.

Judith would look up to you so much!! She spent her whole childhood making remedies with you, or on your lap, listening attentively to your explainations of which plants are good and which are not. She would try and bring you some plants as well. And sometimes go on small runs with Daryl, and pick up some plants you mentioned you needed. It was so cute to watch her come back, her cowboy hat filled to the rim with herbs!

Daryl is also the one patching up the pockets of your apron!!! When you get caught in spiky bushes, or when you accidentally rip one of your pockets, you always somehow find it repaired the next day. One day, you finally catch Daryl on the act, a needle between his teeth as he would carefully examine your favorite apron, to see if anything needed repairing.

He's also so impressed when he sees you making up a remedy on the go. Once, he sees you scratch your knee after you fell down in the forest (and he laughed at you so hard, before even asking if you were okay), and immediatly make a remedy out of the plant you fell on in two minutes, and he had the most lovesick look on his face ever as he watched you apply it.

Word Count: 2,767

Summary: A little story on how Mickey got his call sign.

Call signs. No matter if you’re in the Marines, Navy, or Air Force, you get a call sign. Some badass ones like Iceman and Maverick may have a cool background if you assume, but in reality, most of them come from pretty embarrassing things. Like Payback for example and the amount of bets that he lost. Mickey “Fanboy” Garcia, on the other hand, has another story.

The first of artists covering other artists' songs first came out in the 1950s. Soon over half a decade later, cover videos started to come out more on YouTube. Singers like Sam Tsui, Christina Grimmie, Conor Maynard, and many others have risen to fame with their covers coming out in the late 2000s/early 2010s. Some have also got the chance to be signed to record labels and winning awards like Y/N L/N. To Mickey though, he doesn’t think of Grammy Award winner Y/N L/N, he thinks of Y/N L/N who he used to help record her cover videos in her bedroom or the backyard of her house.

Every Friday since meeting each other freshman year of high school, Y/N would drag Mickey out of their last period class and out of their high school in Miami to her house to start recording cover videos. As she uploaded her videos onto YouTube, her views went from a few hundred to a few thousand until one day.

“Mickey! Mickey!” The junior yelled her best friend’s name as she ran down the school hallway. “Where are you?”

“Yo! What’s going on?” Mickey closed his locker after grabbing everything he needed.

He turned to face the singer whose face was all red from the running as the screen of her BlackBerry Bold was in his line of sight. Squinting his eyes a little, he looked at the screen which showed one of the recent covers she uploaded.

“Holy shit!” He exclaimed. “One hundred thousand?”

“I know right!” The two of them started to jump together in celebration, ignoring the looks they’re getting.

“This is crazy!” Y/N said, still not believing that her cover of Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood reached that many views.

“You know what this means?” Mickey’s eyebrow was raised. “The chance of you getting signed to a record label.”

“Yeah, not happening,” Y/N let out a laugh. “Never in a million years.”

“Hey,” he gently squeezed her shoulder. “It’s going to happen. I have a good feeling.”

Y/N shook her head at her friend’s nonsense and dragged him to their first class of the day.

Years passed and their friendship grew even more. They shared homecoming and prom dances together. They had many all nighters studying for the AP tests they signed up for and working on college applications. The both of them dated people but their relationships only lasted for three to four months max because they both were missing something. Mickey still continued to help Y/N post her covers on her channel which grew after that one day.

Towards the end of the summer break after they graduated, the duo had to head their separate ways for college. They still kept in contact though by the emails they sent each other and visiting each other in Miami during breaks. With every visit, their feelings grew more without them realizing it.

Mickey had achieved his dream of getting into the Naval Academy and became a weapons system officer, getting the callsign Fanboy from his classmates seeing him geek out and watch Y/N’s covers. Y/N continued uploading her covers onto YouTube while studying literature at the University of Miami. It wasn’t until her senior year of college she got the best news of her life.

The sound of her sandals slapping the concrete sidewalk boomed as she ran down the concrete path which led to the park her and Mickey would sometimes hang out at. With his back facing against her, she leaped on his back which took Mickey out a little.

“Hey, you missed me that much?” Mickey laughed.

“Yeah, but I have some news,” Y/N answered.

“Which is?” He asked.

She didn’t verbally answer but she handed him the small stack of papers. Going through the papers, she saw the look on Mickey’s face as his face lit up with each page.

“No, you’re joking.” Mickey pulled her into a hug.

“I’m not,” she confirmed. “You’re looking at the newest artist signed with Atlantic Records.”

“You’re not going to forget me when you become famous right?” Mickey joked.

“Are you kidding? I won’t forget my best friend.” Y/N lightly punched his shoulder.

“Yeah, best friend,” Mickey sighed.

“What? Are you okay?” A quizzed look formed on her face.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” Mickey brushed off his emotions.

“Hey Mick, tell me what’s up.” Y/N held his hand which sent sparks through the both of them.

“You’re going to hate me when I do this,” he said.

“Do wh-” Y/N was interrupted when Mickey’s lips touched hers.

Butterflies and fireworks exploded inside them as their lips moved in sync. Detaching their lips from each other to catch their breath, they looked each other in the eyes questioning what just happened.

“Did that just?”

“Yeah.”

Kissing each other again, they confirmed that their feelings for each other were true. After the second kiss, Mickey decided to take Y/N for an early dinner to celebrate her getting a record deal and have a pre-first date date.

More years have passed with the both of them graduating with their degrees. Their relationship grew more as they became official. Mickey was out doing the five years required to serve after he graduated after the academy. Y/N on the other hand was busy writing and recording her first album. Constant filming for her music videos and traveling to promote her album.

Despite them being hundreds or thousands of miles apart, they managed to keep their relationship alive. They had many video calls together and if she toured in an area where Mickey was at, he would watch her concerts with Reuben “Payback” Finch, who is the only person that knows her and Mickey are together other than close friends and family. When Y/N started to become more well known, she wanted to keep her personal life private. She did post pictures of her and Mickey together on her social media accounts but they didn’t show Mickey’s face.

On the eve of Mickey’s last deployment, she came back home with the living room of their shared house decorated with flowers and lit candles. In the space where their coffee table used to be, Mickey was on one knee holding a velvet box in his hand. With a short and sweet speech as tears ran down their faces, Y/N nodded her head saying yes to his proposal. A few months after Mickey came back from his deployment, the two had a small private ceremony with their close friends and family in a cabin up in the Santa Cruz mountains. Reuben as Mickey’s best man and Y/N’s college roommate as her maid of honor.

Luckily for Y/N, she could travel and stay anywhere with her job. With Mickey being moved from base to base because of his job, she would follow him while still making music while renting a house off base. From time to time she would have to travel and stay in New York for a little bit for meetings and to record her music. Thankfully when Mickey got called back to Top Gun, they resided permanently in a house that was only a fifteen minute drive away from base after the Dagger Squadron was made permanent in San Diego. Many dinners with her, Mickey, and Reuben were shared as they told stories of the other squadron members they met for the mission. Y/N continued to make music and released her next album which caused her to be away from Mickey to promote it and tour around Europe and North America.

After a day of training, the Dagger Squad decided to head to the Hard Deck for some drinks.

“Amelia has been depressed since the LA tickets for Y/N sold out,” Rooster said before taking a sip of his beer.

“Really?” Mickey raised his eyebrow.

“Yeah, Y/N is one of her favorite singers. Ever since those tickets sold out the first day, she’s been blasting her music in her room and headphones,” the aviator answered.

The WSO nodded his head and excused himself. Taking his phone out, he checked the time to see that Y/N wasn’t on stage yet. Calling her and waiting for a few rings, she answered her husband’s call.

“Hey baby, what’s up?” She asked. “How was work?”

“It was good, got our asses handed by Maverick but that’s normal,” he chuckled. “How are you?”

“I’m good, just two hours before we head onto stage,” she replied. “I miss you.”

“I miss you too, but hey can I ask for a favor?” He asked.

“What is it?” She said.

“You know Rooster right?” Y/N hummed in confirmation. “Well, his little sister wants to see you in LA but the tickets sold out immediately. Is there any way you can get a ticket for her?”

“I’ll check, give me a minute,” she told him. “Stay on the line.”

Taking a sip of his drink, he waited for his wife while admiring the cooling winds of San Diego while the sun setted.

“Hey, you’re still there?” Y/N voice popped into his ear.

“Yeah, so what’s the verdict?” He replied, mentally crossing his fingers.

“Yeah, how many tickets do you need?” The singer asked. “Twelve plus your captain, his girlfriend, and daughter, that would be fifteen. Is that good?”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, we have more than enough tickets. Just tell everyone and I’ll send you the info. Also, all of y’all need a break from training.”

“Wow, I’ll tell everyone. Thank you for doing this. I love you.”

“I love you too. You can thank me later when you get to LA.” Mickey could already imagine the smirk on his wife’s face.

Hanging up the phone with a grin on his face, Mickey headed back into the bar and stood next to Rooster.

“I managed to get a ticket for Amelia,” he told the pilot.

“Wait, how?” The pilot questioned.

“I know someone who’s one of the guitar techs on her tour. I managed to get all of us plus Maverick and Penny a ticket,” he told everyone.

“Wait, we’re seeing Y/N in LA?” Phoenix started to fangirl a little. “Don’t mess with me Fanboy.”

“I’m not, I’ll text you the information into the group chat,” he confirmed.

“We’re going to see Y/N baby!” Coyote cheered.

While everyone celebrated, Reuben sent his WSO a smirk knowing who gave them the tickets.

*Concert Day*

“Mick, are you sure we’re supposed to park here?” Maverick asked as he got out of Rooster’s Bronco.

“Yeah, I’m sure,” Mickey answered his captain.

“Because we’re by where Y/N L/N’s tour bus is,” Rooster added.

“Trust me, we can be here,” Mickey reassured them while pulling out his phone.

Making the call, they waited for a few more minutes before Y/N’s manager came out of the Forum with VIP passes in hand. Mickey greeted the manager and they handed Mickey the passes. All of the members were shocked when they saw the passes they got, questioning how Mickey managed to get these. All of them thought they were getting tickets up in the nosebleeds, but they were mistaken.

“Mickey!” The singer jumped into her husband’s arms when she saw him.

“Hello my love,” the Navy man mumbled before kissing her.

Everyone except for Reuben was shocked at the sight they were seeing. They couldn’t believe that one of their WSO’s was kissing the singer they would soberly and drunkenly sing out the lyrics while doing karaoke.

“I missed you,” the singer wrapped her arms around Mickey’s neck.

“Me too, four weeks is too long.” Mickey moved a strand of hair out of Y/N’s face. “Everyone’s here already.”

Y/N moved away from Mickey and saw his pilot standing there with a grin on his face. “Ru-Ru, it’s good to see you again.”

“It’s good to see you again too,” the pilot returned her hug.

Letting go of the hug, Y/N looked at the rest of her husband’s squadron who had shocked expressions on their faces. “Hi, you must be Mickey’s squadron and you must be Amelia, is that right?”

“Y-Yeah,” Amelia stuttered as her idol stood in front of her.

“It’s so nice to meet you,” Y/N smiled at her and looked at Maverick who stood behind her. “You must be Captain Mitchell. Mickey and Reuben have been telling me great things about you.”

“It’s a pleasure meeting you m’am. Thank you for inviting us,” Maverick said.

“Anything for Mickey's adopted family,” Y/N smiled. “Also, call me Y/N.”

“I will if you call me Pete or Maverick,” Pete smiled.

“That’s a deal,” Y/N chuckled and faced the squad again. “Mickey, wanna introduce me to your team members?”

Mickey nodded his head and introduced his wife to the rest of the Dagger Squad. After the introductions, everyone headed to the greenroom.

“So, you’re telling me that Reuben knew that Fanboy over here is dating Y/N?” Hangman asked. “The same Y/N who won a Grammy and many Billboard Music awards?”

“Not dating, we’re married,” Y/N corrected the Texan.

“What!” Everyone yelled/exclaimed.

“Married for almost five years.” Mickey and Y/N looked at each other in admiration.

“You knew that already didn’t you?” Halo asked Reuben.

“He should, he was my best man,” Mickey answered for his pilot. “Also, who do you think Don’t Blame Me is about?”

“And I thought Bob over here had secrets we don’t know about,” Omaha chuckled.

“Nah, she’s the only secret that I have.” Mickey tenderly pressed his lips onto his wife’s.

Soon after that, the topic of conversation changed, promising them the couple would host dinner to get to know Y/N more.

After spending an hour or so in the greenroom, Y/N had to start getting ready for the show. Giving his wife one last kiss, he met up with the squad following one of the assistants to the VIP booth Y/N set them in. The booth provided food, snacks, and drinks for them while giving them a view close to the stage.

The lights in the venue started to dim down as the crowd’s cheers started to rise. The band started playing the introduction and the cheers from the audience elevated as Y/N rose into the stage.

Throughout the concert, the energy was amazing. Everyone was screaming and jamming out to the lyrics. All of the Dagger Squad and Penny and Amelia were enjoying the time they were having and thanking Mickey for the tickets. Mickey was pretty sure he saw Hangman and Coyote doing the choreography to I Did Something Bad.

“Alright, before we do this next song, how is everyone doing?” Y/N asked the audience as they replied with cheers. “That’s good. Fun fact, the person that I wrote this next song about is in the crowd tonight with his friends. This song is dedicated to him. Love you darling.”

Y/N sent him a wink and he winked back at her. The band started to play Don’t Blame me and everyone was taken to church by the way she performed it. The singer got down on her knees, belting out the high note which caused Mickey to form a proud smile on his face.

After a few songs and the encore, the last show of the tour was finished. Mickey and the gang headed backstage to see Y/N in a pair of sweat shorts and one of Mickey’s old t-shirts.

“You were amazing.” Mickey picked her up and spun her around.

“Thanks,” she laughed. “So, what did you guys think?”

Everyone started to compliment her performance at the same time. Y/N blushed because she wasn’t used to compliments they were giving her and let out a laugh.

“So, instead of driving back to San Diego this late, my producer is out of town and allowed us to use her house to sleepover,” Y/N told them. “What do y’all think?”

Everyone nodded their heads in approval and started to leave the venue.

Do you like the idea of naming the turtle duos after fruits? Because I think I’m the only one. For example, we have the Disaster Twins as probably the Berry Duo, since one is a blueberry and the other is a blackberry. And probably Citrus Duo for Raph and Mikey. (I looked up if there was a red citrus and there technically is. A red orange.) I didn’t think on the names for the other duo names so if you think this is also a good idea I’d love to hear your own duo names!

My 25 Favorite Films of 2023

It's that time of year again! Here are my top 25 films of 2023.

25. Joy Ride

Following in the footsteps of Bridesmaids and Girls Trip, Joy Ride offers some of the biggest laughs of 2023 proving once again women can be just as raunchy as men. The cast includes up-and-comers Ashley Park, Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu, and a scene-stealing breakthrough performance from Sherry Cola. Joy Ride marks a strong debut from writer-director Adele Lim.

24. Theater Camp

Anyone who had aspirations of becoming an actor can relate to Theater Camp, a mockumentary about the staff of a theater camp struggling to keep it afloat. Molly Gordon, Ben Platt, and Noah Galvin lead both behind and in front of the camera in this superb comedy that will leave you singing from the rooftops.

23. A Thousand and One

A Thousand and One is a heartbreaking indie film about a mother's desperate effort to form a bond with her estranged son by kidnapping him from the foster care system following her stint in prison. Teyana Taylor packs an emotional punch with her crushing performance with the help of A.V. Rockwell in her feature debut as a writer-director.

22. Thanksgiving

Eli Roth's filmography in horror is a mixed record, but his latest flick Thanksgiving may be his best work yet. Not only is it a solid slasher with great over-the-top killings, its brilliantly hilarious. In a time where horror franchises can be tiresome, Thanksgiving is one that could call for a second or third helping.

21. Somewhere in Queens

TV icon Ray Romano makes his feature directorial debut in the family comedy Somewhere in Queens. He stars as the father of a promising high school basketball player who goes through perhaps desperate means to assure he lands a college scholarship. Joined by the wonderful Laurie Metcalf, Somewhere in Queens has plenty of laughs as well as plenty of heart.

20. Dream Scenario

The remarkable comeback of Nicolas Cage continues with his brilliant performance in Dream Scenario, a dark fantasy horror comedy in which he plays a college professor who inexplicably starts appearing in everyone's dreams, sparking a national phenomenon that will ultimately take a personal toll. Cage balances the absurdity of the situation his character is in with emotional heft that comes with it. This marks Norwegian filmmaker Kristoffer Borgli's first English-language film and based on how well-executed Dream Scenario is, hopefully it won't be his last.

19. The Covenant

Guy Ritchie's latest The Covenant is a heart-pounding war film based on the true story of Sgt. John Kinley's rescue effort of his Afghan interpreter Ahmed. Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim make a perfect duo in this dramatic, suspenseful film that may be Ritchie's strongest work to date.

18. Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.

Judy Blume's 1970 adolescent classic Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. finally made its way to the big screen this year in the heartwarming coming-of-age tale of a girl's awkward journey from childhood to adulthood as well as the complexities that come from being an interfaith household. Abby Ryder Fortson shines as the titular Margaret in an outstanding performance not often seen from child actors. Also, we need more Rachel McAdams.

17. BlackBerry

Arguably the biggest surprise of 2023, BlackBerry offers some of the best laughs in the comedic retelling of the rise and fall of the iconic BlackBerry device. BlackBerry is a showcase of talent of its star Jay Baruchel, Matt Johnson (who also directed and co-wrote the film), and Glenn Howerton of It's Always Sunny fame, easily giving one of the best on-screen performances of the entire year.

16. You Hurt My Feelings

Writer-director Nicole Holofcener reunites with her Enough Said star Julia Louis-Dreyfus with You Hurt My Feelings, which centers a turbulent chapter in a couple's marriage after a novelist overhears her husband mocking her latest book. The dramedy examines the thought-provoking nuances of how fully honest one actually should be with their spouse (the answer may surprise you!). The greatest strength from Holofcener's latest is how its humor comes naturally from the reality of relationships.

15. Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One

Mission: Impossible does the unthinkable in Hollywood: keeping a franchise in top-notch shape. Dead Reckoning Part One, the whopping *seventh* installment of the Ethan Hunt saga, delivers on a compelling plot and incredible action sequences, all of which is cemented by the star power of Tom Cruise, who has carried this spy franchise for nearly 20 years. There have been hints that Dead Reckoning may be the beginning of the end for Mission: Impossible, and if that's the case, it's going out with a bang.

14. Talk to Me

The best horror movie of 2023, Talk to Me is a chilling film about a group of teenager's ill-fated decision of doing a viral challenge of interacting with the dead, only to mistakenly leave the portal open between the living and the spirit world. What makes Talk to Me work is the family drama at the core of the film and the powerful performance from its troubled heroine Sophie Wilde.

13. Sisu

Inglorious Basterds meets Mad Max: Fury Road meets John Wick, Sisu is a WWII-era revenge action flick about a gold prospector's quest to retrieve the gold that was stolen from him from a group of Nazis. Full of brutal, bloody fight sequences with a twisted sense of humor, Sisu is one helluva ride.

12. Creed III

Creed III is a throwback to the era where Hollywood blockbusters were able to provide complete satisfaction. The latest installment of the Rocky spin-off franchise marked the strong directorial debut of its star Michael B. Jordan and also may have sadly marked the final film of the incredibly talented Jonathan Majors, whose recent assault conviction may be a knockout punch to an otherwise booming career.

11. May December

Often having vibes of a soap opera, Todd Haynes' May December is a compelling and at times disturbing film of an actress (played by Natalie Portman) who shadows the woman she's depicting in a film (played by Julianne Moore) famous for her 90s love affair with a then 13-year-old, who later became her husband. Despite the powerhouse performances from the two Oscar winners, the film really belongs to rising star Charles Melton, whose character finally comes to grips with the trauma he unknowingly endured as a child. And Melton's performance is among 2023's best.

10. Anatomy of a Fall

We don't often get great courtroom dramatic thrillers these days which is why Anatomy of a Fall really stands out. German actress Sandra Hüller gives a breakthrough performance as a wife and mother who becomes the prime suspect in what authorities believe is the murder of her husband, who had fallen to his death from the attic window. With plenty of twists and turns, Anatomy of a Fall will keep viewers guessing throughout.

9. Maestro

Not only does Bradley Cooper give the performance of his career, he has also shown his ability to direct is no fluke. Maestro, a biopic that spotlights the personal drama of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein, is a beautifully-shot, well-acted film that solidifies Cooper as one of Hollywood's newest talented filmmakers.

8. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

One would assume that a Spider-Man cartoon would solely be geared towards children but Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is such a sophisticated film between its complex plot and the remarkable animation that are a continuation from its 2018 Into the Spider-Verse predecessor. Between a strong voice cast, an amazing score and a brilliant cliffhanger, Across the Spider-Verse was the shining gem of the many superhero duds 2023 had to offer.

7. Killers of the Flower Moon

At 81-years-old, legendary director Martin Scorsese hasn't lost his step with Killers of the Flower Moon, his best film in at least a decade. The crime drama is based on a true story on the 1920s murders of members of Osage Nation and its ties to the marriage Ernest Burkhart and Mollie Kyle, played by the reliably gifted Leonardo DiCaprio and powerful newcomer Lily Gladstone.

6. Saltburn

Following her strong debut with 2020's Promising Young Woman, filmmaker Emerald Fennell makes a valiant return with her twisted comedic psychological drama Saltburn, which surrounds an Oxford student who is quickly embraced by the wealthy family of a classmate and the jarring fallout as a result. Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Irisherin, Dunkirk) proves he's more than capable of being the leading man and is joined by rich ensemble including Rosamund Pike, Jacob Elordi, Richard E. Grant and Carey Mulligan. With stunning visuals and some of the most shocking things you'll see onscreen in 2023, Saltburn is a stirring work of art.

5. The Holdovers

It's been a long time since a new Christmas movie can live up to beloved holiday classics and Alexander Payne makes the closest effort with The Holdovers, a 1970-set dramedy about a miserable teacher at a boys academy who is stuck essentially babysitting the "holdover" students who didn't go home for the holidays. Joining the always-brilliant Paul Giamatti is newcomer Dominic Sessa as his troublesome student and Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who gives a powerful Oscar-worthy performance as the cook mourning over the loss of her son. The Holdovers is the perfect film to warm your heart over the holidays this year and every year going forward.

4. Past Lives

Perhaps one of the more unsung heroes of 2023 cinema, Past Lives is a touching story about love and what if. Greta Lee stars in a breakout role as a married woman who rekindles a relationship with a childhood friend from South Korea but rather than going down the typical "will they, won't they" or "love triangle" paths this film easily could've taken, Past Lives delves into the emotional complexities with such tenderness that only writer/director Celine Song could've told (the film is semi-autobiographical).

3. Oppenheimer

If anyone knows how to make a biopic an epic, it's Christopher Nolan. Oppenheimer is essentially two films rolled into one- a tick-tock thriller about the creation of the atomic bomb as well as a political drama that J. Robert Oppenheimer endured. Cillian Murphy gives the performance of his career and leads a gigantic ensemble cast in a film that despite its 3-hour running time goes by fast. And while Barbie may have won the box office battle, Oppenheimer certain won the war in more ways than one.

2. Polite Society

Polite Society is a brilliant action comedy following an aspiring stuntwoman who believes her sister is marrying into a sinister family. In the style of a Tarantino movie, up-and-coming filmmaker Nida Manzoor makes a strong feature debut that is the epitome of a fun popcorn movie, which have been in short supply in recent years.

Poor Things

Yorgos Lanthimos has quickly risen as of the strongest filmmakers of this generation, proving so once again with his latest film Poor Things. Emma Stone gives an Oscar-worthy performance as a woman brought back to life who embarks on a journey of self-discovery and autonomy and is accompanied by an excellent supporting cast. Like a modern-day Tim Burton, Lanthimos was able to create a mesmerizing universe with incredible production design, a whimsical music score, and stunning cinematography. Going to the movies is meant to be an escape, and Poor Things perfectly encapsulates that.
