Dunrobin Castle
Dunrobin Castle is located in Sutherland, Scotland. Built in the 1300s overlooking the Moray Firth, and serves as the family seat to the Earls and, later, Dukes of Sutherland for over seven centuries. Originally a fortified, square keep that stood for two hundred years until a house was built. Throughout the 16th century, the structure was expanded, although the original keep still survives but is altered. It was remodeled in the 19th century. In 1915 much of the interior was destroyed by fire and restored. The castle was used as a hospital during WWI and a boys’ boarding school from 1965-1972. The castle resembles a French chateau and sits on 1, 379 acres which includes French-inspired formal gardens, walled gardens, hedges, fountains, a falconry area, and a croquet lawn. The 189-room castle boasts conical spires, turret roofs, and a courtyard. The museum, located in the 18th century summer house that adjoins the gardens, has animal trophies from family members who went on safari and a collection of archeological artifacts from around the world. Dunrobin Castle is open to the public from April to October.

Had a nice camping road trip around the Northern coast of Scotland. It was my first time travelling/going on holiday for more than a week with non-family. I certainly learned a lot from the experience, found places I want to visit again into the future and managed to get a few nice photos.
We had a brief visit to Culloden
A visit to Dunrobin Castle
The sunset from the campsite in John O' Groats
Visit to Castle Sinclair Girnigoe
Went swimming at the Trinkie, an outdoor pool in Wick
The view from Castle Bharrich (Varrich)
A stop off at Corrieshalloch Gorge National Reserve
And faced my fear by driving Bealach Na Ba (The Cows' Pass) near Applecross only for it to be incredibly foggy and have this be the view from the top
About 950 miles in 8 days. I am still tired and am following a self-imposed driving ban until at least the middle of next week.
