Hey so I know the canon is that Techno didn’t know about the plan to blow it up until after the festival, but

There’s a really quick moment in Tommy’s video on it where when Techno gives back Tommy’s stuff after the fight in the pit, he accidentally tosses out an oak button.

Which, of course he says duh, you can make a button with any plank. It’s a reasonable explanation considering this is a Minecraft roleplay server that is unscripted and populated by mostly teenagers.

But I really like analyzing things. And I like the idea that that oak button was the button for the TNT - and that Techno removed it either on purpose or by accident for some reason.

I’m pretty sure at one point Wilbur mentions that he’s been watching people walk by the button, and that he’s glad nobody’s pressed it yet. And that makes me think…

First thought to me is that Us Voices persuaded him to remove the button in some way (since it is implied that characters do still live on the smp/exist/time continues normally when they aren’t live) - either by donating or just by saying it’s funny or by convincing Techno that it looks dumb there. This could be either stream-snipers trying to sabotage Wilbur, or just us being contrary/on a whim.

Second idea is that Techno overhears the plan between Tommy and Wilbur - knows about the TNT even though he’s not supposed to and plays dumb to both us and Pogtopia so that they don’t find out that he does. He sneaks out after they set the plan to blow it up while he and Niki are still inside, finds the button, removes it, and doesn’t have time to stash it before everything kicks off.

I like the second one better, obviously, because I think it’s more interesting, but the first feels more probable. And obviously this is all just over analyzing what is probably just a stray button that was a crafting mistake.

But I like to have fun here okay
