I'M SO EXCITED OH MY GOD. i know they've been sitting on the first few episodes for a little while and i've been biting things the whole time like PLEASE!! BRING MY CHILDREN BACK I MISS THEM TERRIBLY
(but also im glad they took so long because i want julia to protect her damn wrists)
for anyone reading this that fucks w drawfee but hasnt seen drawtectives yet, please watch the supercut they just released, it doesnt have any major spoilers and it's a great taster of just what's so good about the show, including but not limited to:

a nonbinary character cracking their egg in real time
improv storytelling and worldbuilding+callbacks that resolve satisfyingly (in a way similar to a D&D show) but told in a unique way with VN-style sprites

drawing challenges that are beautifully stupid (i feel like people can be intimidated by the show - or at least i was - bc it doesn't seem like drawtectives will be very drawfee but trust me the DNA is all there and it's less of a buy-in to start watching than you might think)

A post for publicly sharing the products of my Drawfee Lalafell idol project!
(if u don't know what the fuck I'm saying just scroll on)

Jokes aside, here's a proper intro to what this is for people who aren't in that one very specific discord:
As a creative project of sorts, I decided to make 4 Lalafells in FFXIV based on the Drawfee crew (youtubers). SPECIFICALLY these are based on their Newsday Comic Designs, because there's only so much staring at real people's faces really zoomed in I can do before I start feeling like a creep.
So, No, these are not "lifelike" or even "as close to life like as i can make potato people in a 10 year old video game". They're based on stylized ideas of people, warped by my creative liberty. That left me more space to make them cute instead of uncanny valley, which I'm sure any drawfee members that see this post might appreciate too.
They're also all heavily modded. It's more fun for dressup.
With that said! Onwards to the pictures (and design notes)!
Nathan:
I actually "made" the beard for this myself - or, rather, I refitted it from a modded beard for Roegadyn. I even made an effort to mold it into a rough flower shape, but I'm afraid it doesn't show up that well. Still, remembering that there is no full beard for Lalafell in the vanilla game, I think it actually looks quite cute!
For this "casual" fit I made an effort not to make Nathan look too fashion-y. Of course, they're idol photoshoot style pics, so I still had to dress him up a bit! With this sporty fit with the fun big red boots reminiscent of early video game character designs, I think I landed in a pretty nice middle ground.
Julia:
This is the only design I paid real life money to make. I spent forever futzing with free hair mods trying to find one I liked, but in the end I forked over a few bucks to an experienced hair modder's online shop and got this hair that comes with all the features I wanted. Can't say I regret the purchase, it's very pretty.
For the outfit, I knew what I wanted pretty much immediately. I have had this outfit mod for a long time, but I've never really known what to use it for. It feels very Julia, even if I can't remember necessarily seeing her wear this kind of thing before. Maybe it just feels French, and I associate Julia with France?
Karina:
Karina's face sculpt mod was very easy to decide. Looking at the list of the free female Lala faces, I saw one that looked like a little shit - and named "Give Me the Phone" - and immediately knew it was perfect. I had to edit this hair to become hat compatible for later outfits, but overall this one was full of easy picks.
Maybe I'm projecting too hard, though? I even dressed her in a top I modded for myself, after all.
Jacob:
Jacob's design is one I agonized over, because finding a hair for him was quite hard. Short hair mods are rarer than long ones, and Newsday Jacob's hair is very distinctive. In the end I had to settle for a more realistic style, but I'm told it still reads as him.
I wound up putting Jacob in maybe the cutesy-est outfit of the four. I don't think he'd mind, but either way the funny little overalls were too big a temptation for me to resist. Accessorising with bandages is where my weeb roots really shine through, though.

Drawfee Kindergarten Field trip! Fun fact, I took this screenshot mere seconds before the dungeon I used as a set kicked me out, which means I spent the entire instance timer just deciding on accessories and posing! Where are they going? To see the big squid at the Aetherfont's center, of course!

Childish war is such a fun song and dance, never mind the fact that none of the "personalities" really work for drawfee. It's dancing lalas! Who cares!

"so, now that it seems that some of the worst of everything in regards to rooster teeth has come to light, what are you, tumblr user monarchisms, the user previously known as kingpattillo, gonna do next?": the post

so fucking much has happened over the past week, so i'm just typing all of this up to figure out what to do in future, both so that people who follow me are in the loop, and that i can help myself get some shit together. almost every day has been one gut punch after another, so i definitely won't get everything in one go, and can surely edit this if/when i change my mind on a couple of things, with some exceptions.
for now:
"do you still want to watch/listen to/make fan content for rt in general?" Oh Dear God No. i don't want the company to crash and burn, only because i want the people currently still there who aren't shitbags to get all the support they need and deserve, emotional support or otherwise. however, because of a series of totally avoidable errors made by the company, i don't feel bad about letting my first subscription end. whether i just cancel it immediately, or i let it lapse, i'm not sure yet, but yeah, after i get charged for this month, i'm not going to pay for my subscription anymore.
"does that also include achievement hunter?" kinda?????????? that's more complicated to me. monetarily, i won't support them because they're still under rooster teeth, so i won't keep my subscription for specifically them. i'd totally throw them some money if they're able to pull a drawfee and break from the company they were formed under and go independent, and i totally am not mad at other people if they keep the subscriptions specifically for AH. again, it's all complicated. even with everything involving them as a group, i'm still rooting for them. "any reasons why?" many, actually, but here's what it boils down to.
i feel like even with all the stumbles, AH has had better progress collectively since... i'd say since geoff stepped down, if not earlier than that, than rt has had in their almost 2 decades of existing. i don't have a concrete year for AH i can point to for where i feel like progress has really started rolling. i'm just going off of Vibes alone lol. what makes me still have hope in them includes (but is not limited to, since there's a lot of stuff i could have missed) all the twitlongers from the post team, as well as this tweet from jack:

(honestly, their whole thread is very good, and i agree with their takes wholeheartedly)
almost every problem i had with AH has been covered in this 4 am vent post i made on the 17th, and the problems i still have actually seem to be on the mend. props to the individuals currently at AH who put in the effort to improve, not just collectively as achievement hunter, but also as their individuals selves. which brings me to my next point:
"what about geoff?"
this hurts to type, but fuck him! the lowest points (in my opinion) of AH were in what many (used to?) perceive as their golden age, approximately the years of 2012 to 2015 or so, all of which were under the time geoff was the AH bossman. if he wasn't the perpetrator of the toxic behavior of his main employees at the time, he was complicit in it for reasons i certainly won't/can't pinpoint because i don't know him personally. though, another tweet from fiona gives me at least one idea:
alongside all of that, there's the direct reply from kdin under geoff 's twitter apology that also makes me 🤨 at him, as well as as all of this from the woman who geoff mentioned in that one reddit post he made in 2020, (edit 10/22/22: and also the fact that his public twitter likes showed that his apology was disingenuous to begin with 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴), but everyone knows about all of that. if you didn't, then uh... genuinely, my bad :(
oof, speaking of kdin,
"what about her?"
it's pretty easy to sum up my thoughts on her now. basically, i still believe that she shouldn't have gotten through the traumatic events she endured at rt, and should 100% be financially compensated, and i also simultaneously believe that her videos during the tatsudoshi days are downright deplorable. it's one thing to use a slur or two (Which Is Still Objectively Bad, but solely in comparison, is easier to stomach and apologize for), but it's another to go on a fully bigoted rant that attacks multiple marginalized identities, regardless of if it was over 10 years ago. No Average 19-Year-Old Wouldn't Do That Unless They Were Bigoted As Fuck. even if she is better now, that never excuses her past actions.
...also, i personally thought the part of her apology that i could actually accept or not accept was mid as fuck, and blizz perfectly pointed out why:
so fuck her for those points specifically. she should still get paid fairly, though. everybody should.
"is that why you're still :/ about gavin?" precisely. the first day, i just thought kdin didn't see gavin's apology on twitter since she was getting swarmed with a billion notifications, and also just doesn't follow most of the AH crew these days. turns out her not responding to him seems more and more intentional each passing day, so whoops!
"so like, are you going to pirate the rt content you still enjoy(ed)?" Oh, Absolutely. for me specifically, i feel like the only thing i'm going to pirate with no remorse is rwby because i still want to see how the story ends. as for everything else i enjoyed pre-braggnarok:
1. with rvb, the only reason i fell out of love it was because of the lack of care given to zero. i still enjoyed that season overall, but how poorly it was treated by the higher ups killed my excitement for rvb. QvsA kinda hooked me, but considering that grif is voiced by geoff and appears in every episode, 😬
2. with the podcasts i personally listened to under rt, most of them got killed for me because gavin and/or geoff were involved (f**kface, anma, annual pass). i still want to listen to red web because trevor and alfredo are still good to me, but like AH, they're still under rt, so i still don't really feel good pirating that :(
2b. "but face jam's still cool, right?" no </3
like, genuine props to michael for actively improving himself as a person, both on and off camera, for many years now, and not excusing his own past shitty actions. i got no beef with him. however, i cannot continue to listen to face jam because of jordan. "wait, what? why?" well! jordan's own past behavior under rt animation was pretty Yikes. he was one of the people specifically called out by georden whitman (nomad of nowhere's creator) in his twitlonger. can't summarize anything here myself, so i just recommend you read the whole thing.
3. the shortest(?) reason: there's no need to pirate AH content because most of it is available for free on their youtube channels anyways. with stuff like sbi: meltdown, i'll just read the comments to see who got voted off for the remaining episodes that i won't watch. not the end of the world.
"but you still haven't answered: what are you gonna do right now?"
i don't know!!!!! rt suddenly imploded bigger than usual, and i don't know where to take my art and gif-making skills next!! i'm kinda scared!!! that's where you guys come in. requests for those will be open forever (they always have been, but they're More Open Now), but currently, they not just extend to individual streamers like matt, jeremy, ray, and their friends (individual AH people included), they alsoextend to any major group or solo people i enjoy. you can feasibly see a drawfee gif from me! isn't that wild?
and finally: "how else can we support you, random internet person?"
i still don't know. i've never been in this position before!!! like, everything i've created, both related to and not related to rt/ah, will always be free forever, but like, if people just want to throw money my way to make my life a little more tolerable, i guess i have paypal????????? i dunno! i'll just have to figure all of that out as i go.

Three ships: oh dear, okay is this favourite ships? last ships read? just the first three that pop into my head? I haven't been reading a lot of HP fics recently, so my ships are all over the place at the moment. Recently it's been a lot of Xenk/Edgin from D&D: Honour Among Thieves, Astarion/Tav from Baldur's Gate 3, and Zuko/Katara from A:TLA. (I'm gonna cheat and also say Drarry, Jegulily, and Wolfstar for HP ships)
First ship: I don't think I remember what the first one I read was, but the first ship that really got its claws in me was Merthur. I hadn't been super into fanfic before that and I think someone I was following linked a fanart that was based on a fic, so I clicked on the link and I was lost forever lol
Last song: I opened spotify and it's telling me Curses by The Crane Wives, but really i had like 6 of their songs on loop for a few hours earlier today when I was doing D&D session prep
Last movie: uhhhhh I honestly can't remember. Probably something with my roommate? It might've been D&D:HAT actually, now that I think about it, we mostly watch shows/youtube not a lot of movies.
Currently reading: Does Mordenkainen Monsters of the Multiverse count? if so, that. if not I've got 19 BG3 fics open on my phone rn, but I haven't started any of them
Currently watching: My roommate's watching a Drawfee episode so I'm like half watching that as I answer this haha
Last thing I wrote: That would be chapter 1 of a sign in the midnight sky!
Currently writing: not much of anything, bg3 has consumed my entire life, but in the brief moments of clarity (usually when I'm forcibly separated from the playstation by work) chapter 2 of Shrines

in times like these I am just overflowing with love for the people who make their content freely available on youtube and despite the economy™ still find every way to continue to do that without going out of business, which I KNOW is hard. Crash Course, SciShow, PBS and Co leading the pack for me because they're providing free quality education, but also "just" entertainment like Drawfee and video essayists like Hbomberguy, Defunctland, Quinton Reviews and companies Team Starkid. Also shows like Taskmaster that are TV shows that go against the norm in the business and upload every episode onto YouTube a day after airing. Heck, even people like the Girl With The Dogs who even grooms the pets for free now because the audience support allows her to do that.
And this is only scratching the surface. But what they all have in common is that their success is built on the mutual respect and love between creators and audiences. There is a trust there, I enjoy supporting people like them through Patreon and such because I see value in their work and I want to help make sure it can stay freely available because I know they want to keep it that way too and honor that support, and value my input.
And whenever their vision ends up diverging from my tastes too much, there are no hard feelings, I never feel shamed for removing my financial support and I'm grateful for the transparency and honesty and glad they can do something they're passionate about, because for every me that doesn't really vibe with a new direction, there are just as many others who have been waiting for it and pitch in in my place. They all have their own unique communities, built on the common interest in what the creators enjoy making, strengthened by the mutual respect and love. And that's unbelievably valuable and worth supporting.

My mom's on the phone with the incredibly hate-filled second cousin of my youngest two siblings. I come in the room to ask her to be quiet because I'm trying to find watch Drawfee - which is important, ok? She's been up there discussing how it's bad that there are so many POC (editing this because she used slurs) on airplanes and how she's scared they'll bomb her, and when I go up they've moved to pronouns of all things. I go to pet the cat, waiting for a time to interject, and she says, "Oh, hold on, I'll ask [Leon]. Hey, what do you think about certain airlines just winning the right to pronouns for anyone, regardless of what they are?"
And I'm just like, "I could not possibly care less, and I don't see how you care."
To which she replies, "Well, I'm sorry that I understand biology and know there's only man and woman!"
And I say: "Sure, if you're looking at biology from an elementary school perspective, there is only male and female. But anyone with an education in the subject knows that there's a massive variety in how people are, and there's more than enough evidence to show that someone's perceived birth sex and the way they think about their own self is not always the same. But again: Why does this matter to you? Who is it hurting if someone wants to go by Twig and use xe/xer pronouns? Because I'd love to hear who this hurts."
And this dumb bitch she has one the phone demands to be put on speaker because she could hear me, has me reiterate "for her clarification" (said in the condescending way Matt Walsh might), and says, "Here's the thing, sweetie. There's man and there's woman. That's how God made us. You can live in a fantasy, but you can't deny that."
I say: "You're ignorant on purpose. God doesn't exist. Your kids will hate you in fifteen years' time because you force them to wear political shirts to school, shirts they're too young to understand."
And she says to my mom, "Oh, god! I see what you mean about having lost that one! She's one of the faggots now!"
And my mom just agreed? And says she's disappointed that she's "losing me." Then asks if I think she's wrong for her opinions and I'm like.. yeah? I tell you this all the time? I'll mention a Mexican guy I work with and suddenly it's "I hate all the immigrants." She'll see a commercial with two women getting married and it's "I can't believe those people are allowed to exist." Like. Of course I think she's a dumb bitch.
And this dumber bitch on the phone goes, "Shell, let it go. She's too far gone. Might as well just disown that one!" And she's taken off speaker and they start talking shit about me with me right the hell there. I said, loud enough that this chick could hear, "You're a sad dumb cunt and I hope all your kids are faggy and you die mad about it."
My mom's trying to force me to apologize now. I had "conceded," only to get on the phone and tell her I hope she accidentally shoots herself to death with one of her like 300 rifles, then said I'd call DCS on her if I knew where she lived.
Anyway. I may be violent, but I'm not in the wrong here, and no one can convince me otherwise. It's been like 5 minutes, they're still talking shit about me. And, like, my mom wonders why I don't share shit about myself with her and why I think she's a bad person. Hmm... Maybe it's because her best friend (who shared her views, just more extreme) is someone who likes to larp as an advocate for freedom while simultaneously believing things such as "only whites should be in America," "liberals shouldn't have the right to vote," and "the fags need to be exterminated." I fucking wonder.

If you could visit any place in the world (no money issues, no travel issues, etc) where would you go and what would you do there?
Lol the south to meet a certain someone to hang out and get food and such. If it went well we'd prolly hit up weed shops and antique stores and have a gay ol time!
Besides that, California! I wanna visit you and Fiona! Get street food, see shows! I think with you I'd wanna get vegan food and see some sick metal bands. Not sure specifically where I'd want to explore but I wanna know the local stuff, what it's really like and not touristy stuff.
Beyond that, visiting France again would be cool. I want those foods. I wanna check out local art there and other places I've mentioned before. Switzerland again as well. I'd like to explore Chicago and visit NY too! Never been to NY, I'd wanna see drawfee live if I could

The Case of the Secret Admirer: A Drawtectives Visual Novel Fan Game!
It's Valenmas Day here in Fancy Town, and what better way to celebrate the day of love and festive gift-giving than a good ol' game of deduction! A mystery, if you will.
When PI Jancy True receives a letter of confession from an unknown source, no one is safe. Not even her own co-workers. But the victim can't solve her own crime, no no! That's where you come in! Help a distressed Jancy True on an oh-so-special Valenmas Day! Which of the three Drawtective hooligans had the beans to confess their feelings to their own boss?
Well, in order to figure that out you’ll have to get to know each of the drawing detectives more. On a personal level, even. After all, this case is quite personal. It’s almost a perfect meet-cute setup, if only you weren’t the most ironic case of dichotomy around. Despite your high-power love connections, you’ve never been able to get a date yourself.
It’s a tale of mystery, romance, plot twists, and confessions, oh my! Will you find out who Jancy True’s secret admirer is? Will you break your case of misfortune and bad luck in love? There’s only one way to find out!
The Case of the Secret Admirer follows you, the player, as a Detective of Love working under your father’s private investigation business: Bow & Arrow Detective Agency. When you’re called to a typical love case, you quickly find out it’s anything but. These clues are harder to decrypt than any previous case, but at least you have your one-time ability.
This visual novel is a fan game of the YouTube series Drawtectives, owned by the Drawfee Show. With a mystery to solve and romance in the air, there are three endings to discover plus an additional fourth secret ending!

Madokoincidences
I still can't believe I became a Madoka fan at such a perfect time. I knew about the show and had even seen episodes 2 and 3 at anime club back in HIGHSCHOOL. But only decided to watch it THIS YEAR!
And that turned out to be the perfect time because everything about that time has lined up
First there was that whole thing about my idea of a Yandere devil being realized in Rebellion like I mentioned before
Then I interacted with old fan content just in time to hear the new teenage mutant ninja turtles movie play the rap that the Madoka rap is to the tune of... TWICE!
I think I even caught Karina Drawfee making a Meduka Meguca reference on a recent stream
And of course now MADOKA IS COMING BACK! After so many years an actual trailer has come out for a new movie and the fandom hype is in full swing! I showed up just in time to get all that hype without sitting through any long wait.
But How? How is it that I ended up watching Madoka now of all times. Well, tis somehow because of fucking Wixoss! (pronounced wee-cross). A friend and I were just browsing through anime on a site looking for something weird and I saw there were a bunch of shows with this name. Turns out tis a card game anime, unique among them by having girls play all of the card games instead of standing to the side and commenting without ever playing. Though I'm not sure if the game was really marketed towards girls since all the cards are also pretty girls that seem intended as waifu material.
Anyway, in Wixoss there are some prophetic visions of some weird apocalypse kind of like Madoka's Walpurgisnacht dreams, and whichever cardgame-playing-girl can beat all the others gets to make a wish.
So I was explaining that to another friend, and she was all "Do they turn into witches? This sounds a lot like Madoka." and that's what got us talking about Madoka in the year 2023, and she eventually convinced me to watch it. So I guess I have the weird card game anime Wixoss that I only watched like 3 episodes of to thank for my being part of the Madoka fandom.
Hope that was amusing!
I'm pretty sure one of the main characters of Wixoss wanted to use her wish to make it so that her brother and her weren't related so that it would be okay to date him.

oh yea for sure i definitely have some favourites. nuke's top 5 is already one of them I've watched every single video on there lmao but there's also
watched walker and wanderizm - both similar channels of the "walking city tour" genre that I put on to relax. both guys live in london and they go literally all over the place in the city, it's a wonderful way of seeing some place new and hearing life on the streets when you're stuck at home. there's so many channels like this in many cities that i def recommend
ur internet mom ash - reaction videos are also another favourite genre of mine, ash is hilarious and sweet with fantastic editing, I'll never forget her hill house and bly manor reactions
ZZAVID - another reactioner, except he's the gayest latino man on the planet with the dirtiest humour to ever exist. both him and ash truly have the best movies+sleepover vibes. i also frequently rewatch his videos
micarah tewers - how do i even begin to describe micarah...weird homeschool girl who makes "low budget costume/fashion tutorials" i say this in loose terms; she's incredibly talented and so fucking funny but her whole shtick is that her tutorials are very unusual and full of off topic rambling. she has a pet bird that she carries everywhere and once had her wisdom teeth removed and proceeded to film herself crying about the fact that she couldn't keep them and then pierced her own lip with a sewing needle while high as a kite on meds. i love her dearly
jenna marbles - self explanatory. god i miss her
julien - but also like i can't forget about best boi julen, jenna's fiance
unusual videos - unusual memes condescend into compilation videos every week. gr8 for a quick laugh to pass the time
taskmaster - british comedy panel show for free. the entire show. it's a comedic masterpiece of watching comedians perform insane demands
baumgartner restoration - both incredibly relaxing and also informative, long videos of a guy restoring damaged/old paintings
be kind rewind - incredibly fascinating documentaries about old hollywood actresses and films
drawfee - professional artists where they "take dumb ideas and turn them into dumber drawings" like drawing pokemon from memory or drawing disney characters as dark souls bosses
lindsay ellis - popular video essayist who reviewed, discussed, and broke down media to their essentials (unfortunately was run off the internet because the internet is terrible). her game of thrones essays are incredible but her duology of the omegaverse lawsuit is legendary
jenny nicholson - another popular video essayist who talks about and reviews garbage media in both a hilarious deadpan but also intelligent way. her takedown of the dear evan hansen movie is godly and yes i did spend 2.5 hours watching her explain the plot and lore of the vampire diaries
girlfriend reviews - wholesome couple makes videos about "what it's like to live with your boyfriend who plays video games." incredible editing, humour, and popular music with original lyrics, but also i respect them so much for their tlou2 video especially (which they unfortunately but predictably got a lot of hate for)
internet historian - what it says on the tin for the most part, a sorta satirical documentary channel but my god they way they do it is incredible. I've watched their "cost of concordia" video at least three times now and it's still not old at all. they've covered the disaster of fallout 76, no man's sky (which was very enlightening), kony, and a satirical covering of area 51 for april fools which was.....indescribable and a must watch
jacob geller - incredible video essays on various themes in video games like fear of depths and haunted houses, horror oriented
shiey - guy backpacks across europe including riding on top of trains and sleeping on roofs to explore abandoned places. he's gone to chernobyl and free climbs so many high structures and has delved into so many bunkers, it's wild
screened - video essays about movies and their themes, and listing them from specific genres, some movies I've never even heard of
lessons from the screenplay - more video essays breaking down themes and scenes from movies

16: one of my favorite art youtubers is Dollightful, I've been watching her for probably 6 years now, she's a doll customizer, and i LOVE her dragon series. Another favorite art channel of mine is drawfee (and drawfee extra, where they post their twitch stream vods). Drawfee is a drawing and comedy show with 4 members, and I have been watching them for probably 4 years. Drawfee has a lot of inside jokes, so i have no clue how someone would start watching their stuff now lol. For commentary youtubers I really like Drew Gooden, Danny Gonzalez, and Jarvis Johnson. I'm sure I'm forgetting a channel I like, but that's all I can think of right now
