My pet peeves is that people automatically thinks Daisy is a princess of desert (Birabuto Kingdom) and ignore the three others😔, think some of them thought she’s from some kind of flower kingdom before and after the wonder reveal.
I have some ideas of Sarasaland from my ideas game story and how the other rulers are like:
Birabuto Kingdom: King Totomesu; Serious and Focus
Muda Kingdom: Dragonzamasu; Goofy and Rushes
Easton Kingdom: Hiyoihoi; Hot-headed and Challenges
Chai Kingdom: Biokinton; Laid back and Introverted

The Super Mario Bros. Redux (Pt. 4)
What would happen if, in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, after Mario and Luigi are separated, Mario was the one who ended up in the clutches of Luigi’s eventual arch nemesis, while Luigi teamed up with some of his own close allies to go rescue him?
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
________
Luigi and E. Gadd get off the train at a station in the middle of a massive desert kingdom where the ground is covered in intricate, ancient stonework pathways, and the sky filled with enormous floating pyramids.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Birabuto Kingdom, while bustling, is not quite as crowded as the coastal circuit, so Luigi finds it far easier to keep up with E. Gadd's hurried pace as they move toward a sandstone palace in the center of the city that reaches so far into the sky it overlooks even the floating pyramids.
The whole time they are traveling, neither realize they are being followed at a distance by the ghost dog from the train. Turning invisible and slipping into walls to remain undetected, it seems to be paying close attention to Luigi in particular.
As E. Gadd and Luigi arrive at the doors of the palace they're stopped by two large Gao who, after evaluating the duo, allow Professor Elvin Gadd to enter– as they had been expecting him– but tell Luigi he must wait in the courtyard.
E. Gadd reassures Luigi it shouldn't be long, and enters the castle with The Poltergust on his back and a bunch of paperwork tucked under his arm. Luigi obediently finds a quiet, shady spot in courtyard, and waits.
While waiting, he holds his hat dejectedly in his hands, running his palm over the "L" stitched into the front, when he's startled by a loud bark. He turns, and is terrified to see a little white ghost dog bounding directly toward him.
He fall over backwards in a panic, whimpering in fear, but to his surprise the dog doesn't attack. Instead, it licks his face, then pushes its forehead under his hand in a less-than-subtle demand for affection.
Luigi nervously gives the ghost dog what it wants, then starts scratching the sides of his neck, and eventually can't help but smile as it leans into him in an adoring nuzzle.
"Heh... not so scary for a poltergeist. Not even very scary as far as dogs go. You're just a friendly little pup, aren't you? A silly little polterpup..."
Tumblr media
Just as Luigi seems to be warming up to the ghost dog, it spots his hat and playfully snatches it away, turning to Luigi with a play bow and a wagging tail. Luigi meekly asks the dog to give the hat back, but Polterpup takes that as a cue to initiate a game of chase.
Luigi tries his best to retrieve his stolen hat, but Polterpup proves very good at keepaway. The two bound past the guards into the castle, with Luigi offering a quick "SorryI'llberightback!" over his shoulder.
Pandemonium soon follows. Polterpup's recklessness and Luigi's clumsiness knocks over people and furniture alike as they rush through palace corridors, and Luigi's numerous apologies do nothing to quell the slowly growing swarm of guards chasing after him.
Meanwhile, in a grandiose meeting room, Professor E. Gadd is speaking before The Four Kings of Sarasaland: A great water dragon (King Dragonzamasu), a hovering cloud (King Biokinton), a giant sentient stone head (King Hiyoihoi), and an enormous sphinx-like lion (King Totomesu). The Professor is explaining The Dark Moon, the dangers posed by its absence, the current state of Evershade Valley, and the looming threat of King Boo.
When E. Gadd pulls out blueprints of all the inventions that were destroyed when his lab in Evershade Valley was attacked and starts listing off all the materials he'll need in order to rebuild, King Totomesu silences him.
King Totomesu reminds Professor E. Gadd that he was promised sanctuary and a new place to live, nothing more. E. Gadd tries to insist that he has the knowledge and the tech necessary to nip the ghost invasion in the bud if he only had some help, but all four kings seem to doubt him.
King Hiyoihoi suspects that the ghost invasion isn't as nearly a big of a threat as E. Gadd is making it out to be, stating that Sarasaland can fight off King Boo's forces the same way it has the thousands of other armies that have threatened their lands in centuries past.
King Dragonzamasu reminds E. Gadd that he had a bad habit of losing his inventions– making mention of Bowser Jr.'s Magic Brush– and states they have no intention of funding anything they couldn't trust would stay out of enemy hands. On that same note, King Biokinton comments that King Boo was using Professor E. Gadd's technology– The Portrificationizer– as a means of holding hostages at that very moment.
Overall, the four kings seem to agree that however big the encroaching threat, they didn't quite trust E. Gadd when it came to how he handled his own tech.
That is when Luigi barges in, leaping upon Polterpup and finally retrieving his hat as the ghost dog disappears into the floor. Luigi places his hat back on his head, reveling in a short-lived sense of victory before he is slammed to the ground by roughly a dozen guards while another dozen try to explain the situation to their kings.
Amidst the pandemonium, Professor E. Gadd asks for Luigi's release. The Kings oblige, but not without demanding an explanation. E. Gadd's face slowly brightens as he cobbles together a story: "This is my new assistant! You are right, in my age I've started losing track of things, and that is why I hired Luigi here to take charge of all my new tech! The whipper snapper is strong as he is quick, and a real wiz with The Poltergust!"
The Kings seem skeptical, but can't deny that it's impressive he managed to get so far into the palace before being apprehended. They look Luigi up and down. Luigi stares vacantly back at them like a deer in the headlights.
King Totomesu, noting the man's obvious nervousness, decides to strike a deal: that evening they would hold a match in The Battle Stadium, in which Luigi would wield his Poltergust against Sarasaland's own reigning champion. If he proved himself worthy, they would give Professor E. Gadd everything he requested.
Luigi wrings his newly-recovered green cap in his hands as he tries to come up with an answer based on the little he knew. Looking at The Professor... who seems to sincerely believe in him... and looking down at the hat in his hands and remembering his brother, he ultimately agrees to the king's terms.
Luigi is rethinking the decision by the time he is at The Battle Stadium, being ushered to the arena doors by E. Gadd. Luigi is barely holding it together, shakily insisting that he doesn't know how to fight.
E. Gadd dismisses these fears. He tells Luigi to let the machine do all the fighting, explaining to him the two new features he added (the strobulb and the suction shot), before unceremoniously shoving him through the doors into the bright light of the crowded arena.
When Luigi's eyes adjust he finds himself in an arena more colorful and complicated than any he'd ever seen, full of obstacles and intricate moving parts. A strange turtle creature riding on a cloud holds a camera up to Luigi's face, and next thing he knows his own perplexed stare is repeated across giant screens all around The Battle Stadium.
Tumblr media
As the overstimulation of the new environment wears off, Luigi realizes he's being booed. He nervously pulls his hat over the sides of his face to hide himself from the jeering crowd, and only dares look up when the audience is silenced by the twang of an electric guitar.
The upbeat rock music continues and the crowd's energy shifts, turning from an excited murmur to uproarious applause as a figure bursts onto the scene from the opposite end of the stadium. For a moment, Luigi can't make out more than the flutter of a bright orange dress until the arena screens brighten with a very different face– a bright, beautiful, cheerful, confident face.
"Hi! I'm Daisy!" his opponent declares, striking a victorious pose for the camera as the crowd goes absolutely nuts.

It's still the 21st for me, so I'm on time! While I made something for mario land day last year, this time I wanted to do a more traditional™ celebration. Sarasaland's got a lot of funky guys, I wonder if we'll ever see them again? Happy 33rd anniversary!!

Sketch dump of non-human versions of my comfort zone of now and probably late next year or so + Starfy.
And here is Porcupo (from Super Merio Bros. 2) in a Metapod Sleeping Bag.
I also had to blame this OTP prompt generator for certain BeroPatto scenes. 😉
..I picked turquoise for Punchinello’s towel, because it’s one of my favorite colors.

Here’s my attempt at revamping Dragonzamasu, a boss from Super Mario Land, into a Super Mario World style. It’s not perfect, but for something made just for fun, I think it’s okay!

Question on Empire of Sarasaland... while I know that Daisy rules it overall, has there been any mention of subordinates (lesser Lords, governors, or the like) that rules the four separate kingdoms and reports to Daisy if need be?
The only moment where (a bit of) Sarasaland history has been mentioned was in Super Mario Land booklet in 1989. It is from where we know that Sarasaland is constituted of 4 kingdoms being Birabuto (the ONLY desertic part of the territory XD), Muda, Easton and Chai kingdoms. But that’s pretty much, nothing else has been said. In Super Mario Land at the end of the first three kingdoms can be met bosses called guardians. It is currently officially unknown if these creatures were a part of Sarasaland hierarchy and that Tatanga hypnotized them or if they were created by Tatanga. Following the fact that all of the bosses are physically related to the land they defend (King Tomotesu is a sphinx and is the boss of the desert of Birabuto, Dragonzamasu is a giant seahorse and defends the watery Muda kingdom and Hiyoihoi who protects the Moai land being Easton is a Moai head with arms and legs) they may have been a part of the Sarasaland fauna before Tatanga hypnotized them, so the lesser lords you mention who certainly helped Daisy to rule Sarasaland. If so it of course also means that Mario killed a important part of the Sarasaland governing system

Sarasaland doesn't have one sole ruler, but actually has four separate rulers: King Totomesu, Dragonzamasu, Hiyoihoi, and Biokinton, who are all Daisy's adoptive, overprotective dads.

Can I hear your other names for the Mario land locations/enemies?
Pretty sure all the headcanons I have are for the first Mario Land game, so I’m afraid I won’t really help beyond that, Anon. Sorry :(
Really all the other names I have are for the enemies. So uh…let’s-a go, I guess???
Goombos, Bombshell Koopas, Piranha Plants, Bullet Biffs, Flies, Chicken, Pipe Fists, and Roto-Discs are remaining the same in terms of name, so we’ll start in Birabuto and work our way up from there…
BIRABUTO
BUNBUN: I just call them bees. They look like bees and fly like bees, but they’re not Stingbies. They’re just…bees. Kinda like the bees in the Galaxy games, which coincidentally enough, also brandish spears.GAO: They’re sphinxes. Sometimes I call them sphinx lions, but I think the “lion” part is redundant. It also takes away from the mystical lore behind the sphinx.
MUDA
TORIEN/HONEN: They’re shark enemies (and their undead counterparts), so I guess that makes them Sushi and Fishbones, respectively.MEKABON: I call them “Mecha-Buddies” since they actually look kinda cute to me. Even if they try to kill you by throwing their detached heads at you…it must be the big ole eyes they have.YURARIN (BOO): Some English sources call them sea dragons. I like that, so I’m sticking to it.GUNION: Since Super Mario Odyssey’s Gushens are very similar to these guys, I’m gonna call them Gushens.
EASTON
GANCHAN: …….they’re literally just boulders…..with eyes…..nothing else……TOKOTOKO/BATADON: For all intents and purposes, they’re Moe-Eyes. They even wore sunglasses in Super Mario Odyssey, just like the former!SUU: Basically they’re Scuttlebugs.(Side note: Kumo is staying the same because if they could keep calling Maw-Rays “unagi” for literal decades before changing the name, then tarantulas can be called “kumo”.)
CHAI
PIONPI: If it walks (hops?) like a jiangshi and looks like a jiangshi, then it’s a jiangshi.ROKETON: I mentioned this before a few asks ago; I call them Rockitus (Because “Rocket” + “Lakitu”)NYOLOLIN: Call me crazy but I’m pretty sure they’re Cobrats, just not hiding in vases. I looked up cobra habitats, and apparently some do live in highland forests in China!POMPON FLOWER: I honestly don’t know what to call these. They’re just weird cross-breeds between Ptooies and Volcano plants.CHIKAKO: I don’t have a name for these, either. Some translations bring up the fact that these are named after the Japanese onomatopoeia for “glitter” and some English sources call them “glitter”…but they look like computer monitors with antennae. I think maybe they provide a force field or something to prevent the Sky Pop from entering Tatanga’s territory.
BOSSES
TOTOMESU: Since “Totomesu” is just the Japanese translation for “Thutmose”, it would stand to reason that “Thutmose” would just be his English name.DRAGONZAMASU: I understand “zamasu” is some kind of Japanese archaic suffix? Now, I don’t know a word of Japanese, but I also know this guy is the leader of the sea dragons, so I call him the “Master Dragon”.Hiyoihoi: I literally just looked up the Maori translation for “large rock” and “Toka nui” came up, so I’m sticking to it. Chief Tokanui, the leader of the Moe-Eye.TAMAO: (Technically it’s not a boss but it does guard the Master Dragon so) It’s a jellyfish with one eye so I call it a “jelly-clops”.
And that’s about all I have. Sorry I couldn’t be any help beyond Mario Land 1, Anon, but the stuff I thought up seems pretty sufficient to me.

What is Sarasaland like? My troops said they were thinking of going there on holiday, and I'm curious in case I ever want to visit. (By @king-bowser-koopa-senior ) (Please ignore the previous version of this. I didn't mean for it to be public )
@king-bowser-koopa-senior
Tumblr media
“Oh Sarasaland is separated into consists of four separate countries with each of them having their own kingdom although I’m the main ruler and watch over the lands.
Let’s start with the Birabuto Kingdom which consist of mainly deserts and governed by King Totomesu whom is a Gao…. A common species you find here. The land has many pyramids built and ancient hieroglyph carvings which you can find in some of the caves.
The Muda Kingdom is mainly surrounded by the ocean thus you can find many sea creature living there with the common creatures being Yurarins and Yurarin Boos. It’s governed by a large Yurarin Boo named Dragonzamasu.
Then we have the Easton Kingdom which is a tropical type area and have huge stone heads which are known as Tokotoko. The land is governed by Hiyoihoi whom is a Tokotoko himself.
Tumblr media
Finally we have the Chai Kingdom which has a oriental-style environment and where I rule from. The land used to suffer greatly from Pionpi which are undead creatures however there isn’t as many there is in the past.
Tumblr media
Anyway I hope you find this information useful and that your troops enjoy visiting Sarasaland, Bowser…. Just make sure they don’t cause any trouble in any of the kingdoms….
The rulers don’t take too kindly to them considering what happened in the distance past.

Do you have any other princess daisy headcanons?
I do have a few :)
- She’s always been close friends with Luigi, ever since they were kids. On royal visits with King Toadstool and Peach to Sarasaland, Luigi would always end up hanging around with Daisy. Their favourite place was the palace battlements, as it provided the peace and quiet (and a great view) that they needed.
- Daisy feels a little lonely without her friends around sometimes. That’s why she looks so forward to going to parties, karting, and sports events, because it gives her a good chance to catch up with them.
- As a child, whenever her friends were away, Daisy would preocupy herself by exploring areas of Sarasaland any chance she got. She would show her friends the secret caves and passages she found.
- The rulers of the other three kingdoms of Sarasaland: King Totomesu, Dragonzamasu, and Hiyoihoi, have known Daisy since she was a baby, and have essentially taken on the roles of her guardians. They’ve looked after Daisy when she went exploring as a child, and (being much older deities) have given her wisdom on being a good ruler. The closest she personally feels towards is Totomesu.
