Prince Khufo, technically the emporer of Sarasaland for my "A Green Queen" AU
Tumblr media
He's 19 and has taken over leadership for his late father, King Totomesu. His mother is unknown.
He's well known by the other leaders as a roundabout Prince who doesn't take his role seriously.
His first act as the official Prince was to invite all leaders and his new citizens to a party at the palace each month, despite being heavily advised to fix the large tax gap disputes between neighboring kingdoms. Oh how fun...
His palace is also understaffed due to his temper and the growing pains of dealing with the constant partying. They've either quit or were imprisoned for complaining.
Tumblr media
Bowser had reached out to him in efforts to get [redacted] as well as help Darkland citizens move into different kingdoms smoothly. He was also promised a small plot of a kingdom for crops and a medical facility.
(The prejudice and racism in the Mushroom Kingdom has been at an all time high because of Bowser's recent "kidnapping". Previous Dark lands residents have moved to Sarasaland due to the recent alliances and leniency)
Tumblr media
If you asked him about how he felt about his father passing, he'd say it was unfortunate, but he lived a wonderful and prosperous life.
His thoughts on Princess Daisy's whereabouts are unknown.

My pet peeves is that people automatically thinks Daisy is a princess of desert (Birabuto Kingdom) and ignore the three others😔, think some of them thought she’s from some kind of flower kingdom before and after the wonder reveal.
I have some ideas of Sarasaland from my ideas game story and how the other rulers are like:
Birabuto Kingdom: King Totomesu; Serious and Focus
Muda Kingdom: Dragonzamasu; Goofy and Rushes
Easton Kingdom: Hiyoihoi; Hot-headed and Challenges
Chai Kingdom: Biokinton; Laid back and Introverted

I've discussed this briefly before, but I really do love the idea of Movie Verse Princess Daisy being an arena-fighting royal like Donkey Kong. While Totomesu and the other kings of Sarasaland handle a majority of the political matters, Daisy is on call to fight one-on-one battles in order to settle disputes, her main responsibility being to get as strong as possible and crush any opponent that's put in front of her.
Tumblr media
It would definitely set up her character as someone who is spunky, tomboyish, and aggressively competitive compared to someone like Princess Peach. Peach, for most of her life, has had to balance both being the primary diplomat and the sole fighter of the Mushroom Kingdom. As a result she approaches everything cautiously, reserving violence as a last resort in order to keep things as simple and courteous as possible. Daisy, meanwhile, is always .5 seconds away from challenging someone to a fist fight in a Denny's parking lot.

We localized the names of all the Super Mario Land enemies, too!
Yeah! If you don't remember, a few years ago, we came up with localized names for all the Super Mario Land 2 enemies as a sort of Christmas gift from us to you! But did you know? There's a Super Mario Land 1 also, and very few of its enemies have localized names either...! With another holiday upon us, we're making this the gift that keeps on giving, with a whole new set of clever enemy names just for you! I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
Goombo -> Goombie the Shroom Fish
While "Goombo" has always been a fine name, it lacks a certain je ne sais quoi that other localized Goomba relatives like "Galoomba," "Goombrat," and "Goombud" have. With this new name, which is a clever homage to Hootie & the Blowfish, now it should fit right in!
Tumblr media
Bombshell Koopa -> Koopie the Boom Fish
Another enemy that technically has a localized name already, but once again, this fairly boring name lacks the ceci n'est pas une pipe that truly great localized names have. It might seem weird to call a turtle a fish, but when you think about it, all tetrapods are fish, so it's fine!
Tumblr media
Bullet Biff -> Shootie the Bullet Fish
You know the drill by now! A name that lacks Allouette, je te plumerai turned much more memorable by one simple yet effective reference! Bullets look kind of like fish, you know!
Since we've spruced up all the enemies with actual localized names, now it's time to Get Creative! The rest will be under the cut!
Tumblr media
Fly -> Fruity the Fly Fish
While not explicitly a fruit fly, we figured that for the sake of the homage, this name gets the job done. And don't worry, I checked. He's allowed to reclaim it.
Tumblr media
Bunbun -> Stabyoutie the Bee Fish
The Japanese name is an onomatopoeia for the sound a bee makes, but because we couldn't think of an English equivalent, we decided to name it after what it does instead. Watch out! It's gonna stab you!
Tumblr media
Gao -> Mewtie the Lion Fish
"Mew" is a common onomatopoeia for a cat, which fits Gao pretty nicely, given a lion is a type of Big Cat! Of course, to remind people this is a lion rather than your typical housecat, we've appended it with "the Lion Fish" for good measure.
Tumblr media
King Totomesu -> Roary the Zebra Turkeyfish
I'm pretty sure one of my siblings once had a plush lion named "Roary the Lion" so I've decided to rename King Totomesu in their honor. And see what we did with the descriptor, eh? Eh? Pretty clever, huh?
Tumblr media
Honen -> Hootie the Bone Fish again
Yeah, I know we used "Hootie the Bone Fish" for Honebon during our Super Mario Land 2 project, but can you blame us for the repeat? It's a good name! And since none of these names are official, either one can have it. I don't mind.
Tumblr media
Yurarin Boo -> Hottie the Blow Fish
Yurarin Boo is a seahorse that blows fire at you, and you may not know this, but fire is Hot! I know it's a seahorse and not a pufferfish, but since it's a fish that blows fire, I figured "Blow Fish" would be a good pun still.
Tumblr media
Mekabon -> Rebootie the Bot Fish
As an enemy in the Muda Kingdom (the game's signature water world!) with a fish-eyed stare and arms that look more like flippers than anything else, this enemy's fishy appearance was not lost on us, and we figured we should reflect that in its name.
Tumblr media
Torion -> The Blue Fish
I know I said some of the already localized names lacked omelette du fromage or whatever, but some enemies really do just deserve a name that's simple, straight, and to the point. Torion is one such enemy.
Tumblr media
Yurarin -> Nottie the No Fish
As a relative of Hottie the Blow Fish without the ability to blow fire, we decided to give it a similar name, but this time specify it can't really do anything special at all. Serves as a nice parallel to the Yurarin/Yurarin Boo naming convention, huh?
Tumblr media
Gunion -> Octootie the Blue-Ringed Fish
"Oh, those rings are clearly yellow!" I hear you say, but consider: Super Mario Land was in black and white. Or. Dark green and lighter green. Maybe the official art made a coloring mistake, huh? Huh??? Some people would object to me calling it a Fish also, but at this point it's been well-established that every sea creature is some kind of fish.
Tumblr media
Tamao -> Tammy the Jelly Fish
See what I mean? The English instruction manual called this thing a jellyfish, and I'm sticking by it!
Tumblr media
Dragonzamasu -> Haughty the Boss Fish
As the boss version of Hottie the Blow Fish, I figured to give it a name that parallel's Hottie's as well! As a boss, you'd expect it to be pretty haughty, huh?
Tumblr media
Bataon -> idk man give me a break the Flying Fish
this is really hard you guys
Tumblr media
Ganchan -> Cheeky the Stone Fish
What a Cheeky fellow we have here! I think it's fun they decided to give this rolling rock a personality with eyes and cheeks, and we've decided to emphasize that with the name we came up with for it!
Tumblr media
Tokotoko -> Scooty the Dude Fish
Tokotoko looks like it's running very fast, but it doesn't even have legs, so it kinda just. Scoots all over the place. And I'd be foolish not to call this guy a Dude, what with the Cool Cool Glasses! And since Batadon is a Fish, Scooty shall be too. Simple as that!
Tumblr media
Suu -> Suutie the Arachno-Fish
Decided to stay pretty faithful to the Japanese name with this one, but I figured a clever reference to Hootie & the Blowfish would make it more relatable to the American youth of today.
Tumblr media
Kumo -> Kumootie the Arachno-Fish
oh man do i really have to name two separate spiders in a row
Tumblr media
Hiyoihoi -> Brutie the Rude Fish
Hiyoihoi has always had sort of "cool delinquent" vibes to me, hence calling him rude, and as a boss, you gotta assume he's a bit of a brute. The name also rhymes with "Scooty the Dude Fish," which this is the boss version of!
Tumblr media
Pionpi -> Spooky the Boo Fish
This frightening fishy fiend is sure to give you the heebie-jeebies!
Tumblr media
Pompon Flower -> Rootie the Grow Fish
Plants are pretty well known for having roots and growing, and thanks to Hootie the Blue Fish helping us learn that plants can, indeed, be considered fish, that makes every part of this name legally Clever!
Tumblr media
Nyololin -> Spewtie the Blow Fish
Look, I know this is the second enemy that we've named "the Blow Fish," but it blows poison at you, and on that note, it is poison like a real blowfish! It all comes together flawlessly!
Tumblr media
Chicken -> Tweetie the Crow Fish
Yeah, I know we technically changing its species, but it looks nothing like a chicken! Can you blame us? And the Mario franchise has a long-running tradition of connecting birds and fish (see Cheep Cheep!) so calling it not just a "crow," but a "crow fish" makes it fit in better.
Tumblr media
Roketon -> Grutie the Banana Fish
minion joke
Tumblr media
Chikako -> Floatie the Glow Fish
Hi the Mod formerly known as Mod Chikako! I hope you like your new legal name going forwards...!
Tumblr media
Pipe Fist -> Punchyoutie the Pipe Fist
This one may seem like we're grasping at straws, but being a big hand, I think Punchyoutie the Pipe Fist can grasp straws very easily, thank you very much.
Tumblr media
Biokinton -> Cumulootie the Atmosphish
This one's self-explanatory.
And last, but certainly not least...
Tumblr media
Tatanga -> Evil Mario
That's it for Super Mario Land! "Like" and "Subscribe" and "Hit the Bell for Notifications" if you want to see us localize the names of every enemy in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3!

There's a couple of things the sequel could do with Daisy to differentiate her from Peach aside from their personalities: 1) she came across Sarasaland as an adult, and 2) over half the time she has no idea how to rule a kingdom
While these ideas aren't bad, I really like the idea that King Totomesu just found baby Daisy randomly one day and immediately took her in as his own cub. And the other three rulers react like that one scene from Sunny in Philidelphia-
Tumblr media
But after five minutes they all vow to protect the baby with their lives.

Why is Princess Daisy named Princess Daisy?
My headcanon was always that three main princess in the Mario games are patterned after the three power-ups in the original Super Mario Bros., where Peach is the mushroom, Daisy is the flower and Rosalina is the most powerful of al of them, the star. And while that is neat, I think there's a better reason.
Daisy’s homeland, Sarsasaland, gets its name from the Japanese sarasa (更紗), meaning “calico, chintz or printed fabric.” The primary dictionary definition of calico is a heavier cotton cloth, but the word has also come to mean a certain sort of printed fabric, otherwise known as chintz, and the patterns on it were often (but not always) of flowers.
That alone could account for Daisy’s name, but I think there’s a deeper read here. Because different calico fabrics laid next to each other can make for an eye-catching, contrasting design, it’s frequently a material used for patchwork quilts. I think Sarasaland itself can be seen as a sort of patchwork quilt setting, because it’s divided into four areas with distinctly different themes that don’t exactly go together but overall give you the sense of taking a tour through an eclectic land. In order:
There’s Birabuto Kingdom (ピラプト王国, or Piraputo Ōkoku), which looks like ancient Egypt and is ruled by a sphinx boss, King Totomesu. Its name probably comes from a combination of the first two syllables of ピラミッド, piramiddo or “pyramid,” and the last two of エジプト, Ejiputo or “Egypt.”
There’s the oceanside Muda Kingdom (ミューダ王国 or Myūda Ōkoku), which is full of UFOs and robots and is presumably a reference to Bermuda and especially the sci-fi paranormal goings on in the Bermuda triangle. Its boss is the giant dragon Draganzamasu.
There’s Easton Kingdom (イーストン王国 or Īsuton Ōkoku), which looks like Easter Island and is resulted by the stone head boss Hiyohoi.
And finally there’s the ancient China-themed Chai Kingdom (チャイ王国 or Chai Ōkoku), hopping zombies and all, which despite obvious tea associations probably comes from チャイナ (Chaina, “China”). Its boss is a cloud that shoots chickens at you. It’s super weird.
I’m probably reading too much into all this, but I like how the fabric being referred to in the name of Super Mario Land’s setting can explain both why Daisy became the flower princess and why this place is composed of several distinct, disparate places situated side by side.
This is all an excerpt I wrote about Princess Daisy's history in video games leading up to her finally being playable in a mainline Mario game.
It covers everything from why Super Mario Land is so weird to how she used to have a different skin color to why she still functions more like a clone of Peach than, say, Luigi does as a clone of Mario. Enjoy!

I love the way you draw Daisy. Since she is my namesake, i would like to know more about her. Is she dating anyone? Also the fact that she is trans gives me LIFE.
I've actually gotten this very question several times, but no, she isn't dating anyone and, like Mario, will not be getting shipped with anyone in the AU!
Other fun facts about Daisy:
-She has a little brother named Hazel, a shy lil fella who thinks Daisy is the coolest person in the world. Daisy is a good big sister uwu
-Daisy loves telling stories and often went off on adventures as a child just so she could have something cool to share with her friends. It used to lead her into trouble; her favorite!
-Daisy's insane strength manifested when she was young. Her parents were made aware of it when visiting monarch Totomesu insisted on training her; he found out when Daisy wandered onto him training in the palace gardens by punching rocks, and when she mimicked him she decimated it into rubble. Thus marked the beginning of the alliance between Sarasaland and the kingdom of Birabuto. Daisy still calls the king Coach T to this day. uwu

Big Arms + Boom Boom version of Birabuto!Celeste. Both of which I haven't drawn in a good long while.
I can tell that I'm rusty with drawing larger arms, as the process of sketching a base for outfit designs was unusually painful; they either ended up TOO large, or too long, and the fingers of hooman Celly's hand pissed me off for a hot minute >:T Nevertheless it had to be done, since Marioverse Celeste is the one with big 'ol arms.
Though her being native to Sarasaland (and me double-checking the wiki to avoid spelling the name wrong) made me wonder… would she have gotten caught up in Tatanga's invasion during Super Mario Land? Gotten hypnotized and forced to battle Mario? Or had she already left the kingdom with Luka at that point, left either blissfully unaware of what happened or learning about it long after Sarasaland is saved? Did she get worried and briefly return to check up on things before leaving again, or did she carry on after learning that everything was fine? Did she know King Totomesu personally, serve him, or anything along those lines? At the very least, she would've viewed him in a positive light, as the wiki claims he normally has a "bright and cheerful disposition."
…Gah, to think all this spawned from me randomly asking ma for her interpretation of Celly… The wonders of crafting OCs, ladies and gentlemen =w=""

SPOILERS FOR:
"A Green Queen" Au
Tumblr media
"The Sands of Time will strain these two mercilessly. For now, we'll see how long their wounds handle the salt."
I'm slowly falling in love with the character the more I draw him. I hope to do him justice in the chapters in terms of his characterization, I think he's pretty neat.
Disclaimer: Prince Khufo is a fan-made character and is not canon to the Mario franchise. He is an oc made by me.

I'm just gonna dump my Super Mario headcanons here bc who's gonna stop me
Mario - Mr fix-it, type A, I'm-not-happy-unless-I-have-a-task-in-front-of-me. The storyline that has he & Luigi born in the Mushroom Kingdom is A LIE, the boys from Brooklyn were flushed down a magic pipe into the Mushroom world, so there.
In New York he helped his neighbours by fixing toilets and boilers and showers for next to nothing. His favourite jobs were for old nonnas who paid him in home made-dishes of cannoli and baked ziti.
He has bone-deep working class pride, which sits paradoxically next to his status as the favourite of a royal. He and Luigi's cottage is completely paid for by the Mushroom crown, but in Toad Town he continues his habit of fixing the Toads' plumbing for a pittance - given this and all his other acts of service for the people, few citizens begrudge him his Peach-bestowed perks. He's one of those guys who is preeningly proud of how humble and utilitarian he is. Also, he is fiercely protective of his little brother, having defended him from bullies and shored up his courage since they were little.
Luigi - Truly flourishes as a softe cottagecore plant gay. Loves his gardening and cooking, and gets baking tips from Peach. He's constantly worried about his brother gallavanting off to rescue various lands from the clutches of evil. Neat freak. Back in Brooklyn, his prized possessions were the tiny kitchen garden he started with his late mother, and his pristine collection of Josh Groban CDs (btw he has a beautiful singing voice).
He often invites E Gadd round for tea and biscuits and life advice (E Gadd is the first elder gay in his life, and has taken him under his wing). He just tends to attract bold people who adore him and insist on PROTECTING HIM AT ALL COSTS (eg Mario, Daisy, Prince Peasley... Bowser???) Just a sweet precious gentle baby boy.
Peach - She lost her mother at an early age, and also lost her father to grief-induced madness (angsty backstory OOOH). She was thrust into a leadership role at a tragically early age as Princess Regent, and owes everything she knows about governing to Toadsworth (who is more of a dad to her than the poor mentally ill King ever could be). She is absolutely the OG Mom Friend and a fair-minded and compassionate ruler - the welfare of the citizens has flourished under her. She is an incredibly strong person because of her kindness and integrity (girlboss who?).
She and Mario first connected over their shared sense of responsibility for others, and were able to let go and unwind with each other, enjoying mutual venting and consolation. She just absolutely loves the churlish lil dude and will probably be the one to propose marriage. She is also a few years older than the rest of the main posse, probably about thirty or so.
Bowser started out as an enemy to the Mushroom Kingdom, but as the years have passed, the relationship has mellowed quite a bit, and his intermittent abductions of Peach are more ceremonial than anything else (really, he just does it for the attention). Bowser always makes sure to have a comfortable suite with a good wi-fi connection set up for Peach, so she doesn't miss any important work for Mushroom Parliament while she's waiting for Mario to rescue her.
Daisy - AYOOOOO she's a little PUNK (also given the dearth of Sarasaland lore in the canon I can pretty much make up what I want hahaha). Sarasaland's capital is Birabuto, a coastal city in the country's desert region. The sovreign's formal title is always Totomesu, as the local culture asserts that the royal line is descended from the lion-god Totomesu.
Daisy is the 'Prince Harry' of her family, with her older brother being groomed for the throne. As soon as she came of age she was out getting involved in pub brawls, flipping off paparazzi, and dyeing her hair inadvisable colours. Her father is always worried about her, however she does bring pride to Sarasaland as an ambassador for sports. It's a longstanding obligation of the royals in the Mushroom world to entertain the citizens with athletic endeavours, and that's the area in which she excels. She is fiercely competitive, and her bedchamber in Birabuto Palace is pretty much just a storage room for her many many trophies.
She and Peach went to the same elite boarding school, though Peach was a few years above her. The older girl pretty much adopted the younger girl upon meeting, so they've been besties ever since childhood. When Peach graduated to go and act as ruler of the Musroom Kingdom, she and Daisy sent regular letters to each other. Peach would also send her care packages full of baked goods, sports magazines, and romance novels.
The moment Daisy graduated, she purposefully forgot everything she learnt in deportment and etiquette classes. She has a mouth like a drunken irate longshoreman. She has also since pretty much moved to the Mushroom Palace permanently - the King of Sarasaland is content to let Peach handle the brazen lil shit.
She is head over heels in love with Luigi and it's tragically one-sided. She commissioned the golden statue of them dancing together, which sits on Birabuto's harbourside boulevard, as a birthday present for herself. She can never look at it without a painful mix of love and despair. Like all of Luigi's admirers she will go full mama bear to protect him.
She may also have an occasional no-strings-attached fling with Captain Syrup, whenever the two run into each other at various ports. (I mean, Daisy does appear to have an affinity for boats...)
Wario & Waluigi - Like Charles Martinet said, two nice evil guys who found each other. They both come from Diamond City, which is its own semi self-contained territory in the Mushroom Kingdom. It has historical roots as a mining town, and enjoys certain special free-market mercantile priveleges (so it's full of con-men, crooks and corporate douchebags).
This video has influenced many of my thoughts on the duo. 'Wario' and 'Waluigi' are definitely aliases made up to intentionally antagonise the Mario Brothers. Not sorry, I really love the idea that Waluigi's legal name is Jimmy Papadopoulos, and he is also the Jimmy P. from the Warioware games (he's a great dancer and owns a canary yellow afro wig for clubbing, lol).
Waluigi/Jimmy is the adopted son of Spike Papadopoulos, the CEO of a successful demolition company. Waluigi dropped out of college and was coerced into working for his dad, who wanted him to make something of himself instead of just playing tennis and going dancing at nightclubs like the priveleged lil asshat he is.
He met 'Wario' one day at his tennis club, who had seen his performance on the court and had heard about his reputation as a skeezy but suprisingly skilled athlete. They bonded over their shared hobbies and their status as adopted children, Wario having an absolutely sleazy slapper of an adoptive mum (hmmm... they're both adopted, huh?...). They soon teamed up, created their 'stage names', and challenged the Bros at every opportunity.
As Warioware inc took off (and amassed ill-gotten profits), Wario purchased a sprawling mansion in the hills of Diamond City. Waluigi went from sponging off his dad to sponging off his best friend,  moving into the second bedroom.
There is some gentlemanly honour hidden behind their asshole facades: as much as they bicker, they are unswervingly loyal to each other. In matters of the heart, Wario is suprisingly gallant to his girlfriend Mona (they make me think of Gouda and Yamato from 'Ore no Monogatari'), while Waluigi's hopeless love for Princess Daisy spurs him to try and be a better version of himself (or at least a slightly less jerky version of himself).
Also, Toadette has a massive crush on Waluigi. He was once nice to her and spent an afternoon helping her improve her tennis technique, afterwards treating her to a milkshake from the Peach Dome cafeteria (mostly beacuse he knows she's a friend of Daisy). Oh if only senpai would notice her.

Scene I did my OCs in my AU, for their designs and anything, I thought it would be fair if each of the Mario Characters a redesign in my version. Some I design them will be the same but change it up a little bit.
Bio: Princess Daisy Sarasa was born in Sarasaland in one of the locations of Desert World. She was one of the many royalits with her parents and siblings who was next for the Sarasaland throne. Daisy and Toadstool Peach have meet scene their children. They were both the oppecet of Ying Yang. Peach represents, Order, Decorum, Stability and Peace. While she represents Chaos, Candor, Change and Fun.
While growing up, Daisy’s parents have seen her as she dosen’t want to me no damsel in distress. Daisy have been busy training herself in a bulky shape and other tomboy related stuff that proves her point to protect her kingdom. She even takes a tan due to the fact she lives in a desert on weekends. Once Daisy is ready, she was crowned the ruler of the Sarasaland the same time her parents and sister moved out somewhere else.
The first few years were fine as she was doing things well to serve the kingdom until she ended up getting captured by an evil alien invader named “Tatanga” and his army captured her. This leads to Princess Peach sent Mario to rescue her dear friend. After Mario rescued her and her kingdom, a party was held in his honor. During the party, she met Mario's brother, Luigi and found him cute. His shyness only endeared him more to her. It wasn't long until they became a couple just like Mario and Peach.
Scene then, Daisy have been in and out of Sarsaland to make new friends during Kart, Sports and Party events. Daisy kinda sometimes get kinda jealous the fact that she was top tire ether goes off severlie adventures or Captured by her frienemy rival Bowser. When Mara moved in to the Mushroom World, She along with Peach had a sister typed bound, spending fun times together, Mara telling Daisy information about the her brothers and Training her to become great hero.
She then goes out adventuring when the go kart charger events happened and later Sarasaland was attacked by Bowser's Rosalina powered minions, Daisy was very angry and wanted to teach Bowser a lesson by a knuckle sandwich to save Rosalina with Peach, The Marios, Amatory, Toad, Yoshi, DK and Diddy. After a long struggle, she might be a successful team member and might start her perfect relationship with Luigi.

The Super Mario Bros. Redux (Pt. 5)
What would happen if, in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, after Mario and Luigi are separated, Mario was the one who ended up in the clutches of Luigi’s eventual arch nemesis, while Luigi teamed up with some of his own close allies to go rescue him?
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
________
As the crowd continues to cheer for Sarasaland's Princess, she turns and waves at the four kings with a cheerful "Hi dad!" They all return the greeting with an equally enthusiastic "Hi Daisy!" before remembering their regality and regaining their stoicism.
The kings call for the crowd to settle down, and once the audience is fully silenced they announce the rules: It is a traditional one on one fight. The first to be knocked unconscious or knocked out of the arena is the loser. King Totomesu also adds– while looking at Luigi in particular– that either opponent is free to forfeit the fight whenever they wish.
Then the buzzer goes off and the battle begins, but it immediately becomes apparent to the Princess just how inexperienced Luigi is at fighting– perhaps the most inexperienced person she's ever encountered in her life....
Tumblr media
She knocks Luigi around a bit, mostly to show off and let him know he's out of his depth, but to her surprise he keeps standing back up despite the bumps, bruises, and threats.
Eventually... to give the audience a proper show and to keep herself from getting bored (and not at all because she feels sympathy for the little mustachioed man of course)... she starts quietly coaching him whenever they're in close combat, giving Luigi pointers about how to use his surroundings to his advantage.
After a little bit of back and forth, Luigi finally gets fully used to The Poltergust, and taking Princess Daisy's advice to heart he starts putting up a decent fight.
In the audience where the kings are seated, Professor E. Gadd has finally made it back to his assigned seat among them. He asks how Luigi is holding up, and the kings admit halfheartedly that he is doing better than expected.
The Professor adjusts his glasses to better survey the scene below. He sees Luigi use the strobulb to disorient the princess, use the blowing function to knock her off her feet, then pull himself a safe distance away with the suction shot before she can retaliate. He can't help but chuckle proudly. "There now, you see? My invention couldn't be in better hands!"
Back in the arena, Princess Daisy... realizing that she now has a proper opponent rather than just a frightened punching bag... kicks things up a notch. Reaching into her dress pocket she pulls out an ice flower and activates it.
With a powerup now engaged Princess Daisy regains the advantage, only this time she has no intention of going easy on Luigi. Laying a path of ice down in front of him she causes the plumber to lose his footing, and after a short struggle Princess Daisy has him completely encased in a block of ice– everything except his head.
Daisy takes her time crafting a spear out of ice and pointing it threateningly at Luigi's nose. "Come on little guy, give it up already. You either call it quits, or I make you call it quits."
Luigi, struggling to escape the ice, fighting until he's red-faced and breathless, shouts back. "I can't! Don't you understand!? Helping The Professor is the only way I can get to Evershade Valley, I can't!" Daisy, unsettled by the desperation in Luigi's voice, lowers the spear and looks at him inquisitively.
Before she can ask what he means by that, they are both startled by the sudden appearance of Polterpup, materializing at Luigi's side, barking and whining, tail between his legs, clearly trying to get his attention. The crowd becomes disquieted, mumbling amongst themselves about the sudden appearance of the phantom pup.
Daisy, though startled at first, tsks and wags her finger disapprovingly at Luigi. "C'mon Luigi, call off the dog. This fight’s supposed to be a one-on-on, remember?" "I didn't call him!" Luigi insists. "I don't know what he's doing but... he looks scared! I think... he's trying to warn us about something?"
Suddenly there's a crack of thunder. Luigi and Daisy turn in unison to see a large purple cloud drawing closer, darkening the bright evening sky until it's indistinguishable from midnight. Lightning short circuits the lights and TV screens of the arena as an enormous ghost materializes over the frightened audience. Polterpup disappears into the nearest wall with a whimper as Boolossus makes their appearance.

Boolossus cackles, taking their time basking in the screams of the fleeing audience while they casually float toward the arena where Princess Daisy and Luigi stand. The four kings of Sarasaland– seeing their people terrorized and their daughter threatened– leap into action.
Unfortunately, for all their power and skill, there is no defeating this sort of ghost without the proper equipment. The most they can do is break their opponent apart into smaller ghosts, who merely swarm back into the form of Boolossus as soon as they are separated.
Seeing this turn of events, Princess Daisy gets right to work shattering the ice encasing Luigi, freeing him just as the last of the kings of Sarasaland is knocked unconscious. Daisy wastes no time climbing into the stands, rushing to defend her dads while Professor E. Gadd checks on the condition of the fallen royals.
The Professor assures Princess Daisy that the four kings are not terribly injured, but merely unconscious. He begins to explain the scientific intricacies of how prolonged, powerful attacks from ghosts can induce a state of deep sleep while Boolossus looms threateningly over them, empty frames in his hands, ready to strike.
Before they can capture E. Gadd or the princess, a blast of suction takes hold of them by the tail and starts dragging them away toward the center of the arena. It's Luigi, wielding The Poltergust with all his might, barely keeping his footing while slowly dragging the ghost toward him.
"S-stop! Leave them alone!" he shouts, his voice shaky and thinned by effort. Boolossus chuckles, though their laughter is tinged with annoyance as they struggle against the relentless pull of The Poltergust. "Fine!" they snarl in their myriad of voices. "Once that contraption is out of the picture, the rest will be all too easy!"
Tumblr media
Luigi barely manages to dodge Boolossus' attacks, and despite having being successful in getting the ghost's attention he finds himself unable to properly retaliate. Though he's able to yank the ghost around with The Poltergust he can't hold on for long, and for all the machine's strength it doesn't have enough suction to drag the giant ghost all the way into the vacuum chamber.
The tides turn when Princess Daisy joins in, using her ice flower to forge pointed projectiles that break Boolossus apart. Each time the giant ghost falls into its fifteen separate boos, Luigi sucks some of them up into the vacuum until at last... working together... Princess Daisy and Luigi succeed in capturing Boolossus bit by bit, until every member of the giant ghost is locked away inside The Poltergust.
The sky brightens and clears as the strange phantasmal thunderstorm rolls away in Boolossus' absence. The four kings steadily regain consciousness, and the members of the audience who hadn't fled completely crawl out of their hiding spots to examine the scene.
Professor E. Gadd is first to break the silence, unable to contain his excitement as he calls out to Luigi: "You did it my boy! You did it! You caught one of the deadliest apparitions in the world! I've never seen such ghost hunting in all my years! Fantastic work!"
Luigi, still a little shaky, turns to Princess Daisy to ask if she's okay. Princess Daisy doesn't answer, she merely gives Luigi a proud smile before taking him by the wrist and holding his hand victoriously into the air before the remaining crowd, who immediately erupt into cheers and begin chanting Luigi's name.
Luigi shyly waves at the audience with his free hand. When he looks up to see the four kings of Sarasaland nodding at him in approval, he can't help but let out a giddy laugh and shoot Professor E. Gadd a thumbs up.

A cavalcade of chibi-storybook Super Mario art!

Tumblr media
VOLCAFLORA- The first chapter boss from the Paper Mario Relic Hunter fantopic. Full of herself and knows more than one would think.
Tumblr media
SHROOMFLORA- One of the endgame minibosses from the Paper Mario Relic Hunter fantopic. He really presses the buttons on certain issues- issues that Mario and friends vow will not come to pass.
Tumblr media
CHUBUNGUS- Restriction-compliant fat mushroom people. The sprites shown here are the Red-Green color combo.

Tumblr media
GULPIT v2- A more puppet-friendly version of Paper Mario 64's Gulpit, done for simpler animation and to fix the v1 sprites I did.
Tumblr media
I also made more recolors so enemies like Gulpit can show up more often.

Tumblr media
GAO- A rather immobile lion foe found in Sarasaland. His fire still packs a punch!
Tumblr media
KING TOTOMESU- The incredibly Bowser-like first boss of Super Mario Land 1! This might be Sarasaland's actual answer to Bowser, in fact!
