I find it so sad that during the break up scene, he really just pours his heart out to Lavellan. He says how she’s beautiful, unique, and I know he doesn’t say it, but she’s able to literally make him almost forget his plans, make him feel like a normal man. And I still love that even if Lavellan keeps the vallaslin, Solas doesn’t show hate or be rude about it! Lavellan is hesitant to tell him no because she doesn’t want to upset him or hurt his feelings, so she goes about it slow.

“I know you told me this because you wanted to help, but the vallaslin is part of who I am. I hope you can see past—”.

“Stop. You are perfect exactly as you are.”

He accepts it, doesn’t pressure her, and reassures her that he still sees her and not the marks. He just sees her.

But when the marks are taken off, he looks happy (or relieved maybe?) and tells her how she is free. She’s always technically been free, but now he thinks she is truly free from something cruel. He remembers what he told the other elves, the elves he tried to save.

And I think about that one theory that when he looks at her with such love and remembers what he wanted to tell her, he snaps out of it. He loves her and he told her. Truly told her in words and not just actions. He spoke his own truth and realized that it was too much. He loves her too much, and he could see that she loves him, too. I think Lavellan literally saying, “I love you,” hurts him even worse because now he definitely knows she feels the same.

They both feel love and it’s strong, but still. He pulls away because her face, her entire being, and his entire reason for bringing her there makes him remember that he can’t do it. He can’t love her and drag her into another big mistake. He wanted to tell the truth to her, but my heart always likes the sad idea of him being afraid of being so close to her and having her truly hate him. Hate him for what he is, so he hid. He had another truth to tell her if he got scared, so he chose that path instead.

And he chose to leave her, even if it would break both of them.

And don’t think he doesn’t know what will happen when he goes back to Skyhold. You think he doesn’t know about her relationship with the others? How protective Dorian is of her, how Varric takes in little details about her and cares about her more than he lets on, Bull trusting her even if she is a mage and abandoning the Qun partly because of her, Cole being happier around her and wanting to help both of them but ultimately choosing her, Vivienne looking down on him even more and telling Lavellan that she deserves better and actually letting her walls down to comfort her dear friend, Cassandra’s disgusted grunts he thought only Varric would receive on occasion, he senses Sera’s pranks or even catches her doing some of them and they’re not just pranks, no, they’re definitely some dangerous ones to cause harm, and Blackwall no longer speaking to him as a friend or acting as if they could’ve gotten along he just gives him dirty glances and refuses to speak to him unless he has to.

He knows this, and I always imagine a part of him is a little happy knowing that she has people by her side, people (other than soldiers and workers) caring for her well being and doing everything to make her happy. Not just for the inquisition, but for HER. He knows it will happen, and I think that also adds to his guilt and pain even more. He may not have been close to all of them, but he held certain respect to them (maybe except Vivienne or Sera) and actually did care about their well being, but now the relationship is broken and damaged because of how much he loves Lavellan and how much she loves him, and how stupid he is.

And Solas may be good at hiding the truth and such, but when he breaks up from Lavellan and the emotional choice is chosen, he backs away from her and avoids her hands even if she reaches out for him, and literally turns around and walks away so…brokenly. His face is just completely showing his sadness and how he regrets his decision but has to do it. He can’t even keep the mask up anymore, and it falls and he kinda looks like he’s about to fall to his knees from emotion.

Is it to beg for forgiveness from her? Maybe. Is it falling to his knees to cry out his pain and regret at what he has broken? Most definitely. If he let it happen anyway.

It’s just SO MUCH PAIN.

My thoughts are in a rush and not making too much sense, but each time I see the break up scene and see Solas kiss her and grab her butt and then break up with her even if she begs him not to leave and how he BROKENLY WALKS AWAY makes me so sad. I just think about it a lot.

tell us more about ren she’s so pretty i need lore

Hello anon!! I am so flattered u want to know more about her! Ren is an alternate universe version of my usual Tav. I’m much better at storytelling visually, so I’ll explain some of my visual choices I’ve made for her character, which contains a bit of the lore I have created thus far. (also thank u for the excuse to just create a character dump post for her lol - i spent way too much time on this)

content warnings: mentions of dissection, scarring one's own face, unhealthy obsessions, stalking, religious trauma... just general fucked up Bhaalist things. + spoilers for BG3

EYES

A keypoint in her design are her eyes; Ren has the same eyes as The Dark Urge's Fiend butler, Sceleritas Fel, reflecting her origin as a creation of Bhaal Himself. Similar to other creations like her and Sceleritas, she was made with the purpose of serving and assisting Bhaal's Chosen.

SCARS

The right side of her face is deliberate scarring of her own doing during her priestess "training". Her body scars, however, are the result of the experimentation performed on her in her early training days. These experiments are often done with the purpose of making unnatural "improvements".

HANDS

I really love how Scarlet Witch's fingertips will stain black as a result of her use of the Darkhold's chaos magic spells, so I took that inspiration and headcannon that Ren's hands/arms do something similar from her "training" as a priestess of Bhaal and her use of necromancy/shadow magic and rituals.

For her general aesthetic, I was mainly inspired by the concept art for Bhaal for BG3 and this art of a priestess of Bhaal. She often wears a large dusty cloak over her usual gown. Placed on the top of her cloak, she will also sometimes wear a crown of thorns, mimicking the "spiky" style of common Bhaalist attire. During their time in the temple, before the events of BG3, she often adorned her face with a broken piece of a human skull. Since her coat is quite heavy, she walks a little hunched over… kind of like a creepy gremlin. Additionally, she will wear a small Bhaalist charm at the collar of her cloak.

Underneath, she wears her typical black gown; the top half resembles Orin’s carapace and blends into her skirt, with leg slits for better mobility, of course! When she isn’t wearing her cloak, her hair is loosely tied back and styled into a collection of braids, accessorized with Bhaalist jewelry.

*Keep in mind I am not a lore expert in terms of D&D deities or Bhaalist lore in general. I took some stuff from the forgotten realms wiki but also just made some stuff up lol, so this NOT D&D or BG3 lore accurate.

Also, again, warnings for unhealthy relationships/obsessions, as well as brief mentions of torture but not in detail.

THEY ARE BHAALISTS THEY HAVE ISSUES!!!!

Similarly to Sceleritas Fel, Ren has a lot of "care" for The Dark Urge. She favours him over Orin, and often clashed heads with her... but of course I have to have some doomed yuri content too!!!!!! so maybe they kissed once or twice >:) (but waaay before the events of BG3) Her "training" as a priestess of Bhaal consisted of torture, religious indoctrination, and extreme mental corruption/manipulation, especially by Orin. As implied before, she faced experiments in order to "improve" her usefulness to Bhaal and His Chosen. As a result, she is not the most stable person you'll meet. She is mainly chaotic evil aligned, however, her final loyalties will always lie with The Dark Urge, and she is accepting of his resistance/redemption path, as well as his acceptance/murder hobo path. She is essentially a certified Real One (also doesn't rlly vibe with Bhaal after he kills her evil Dragon boyfriend yk). The tadpole in someway also helped "release" her mind of Bhaal's influence, and while she is still an obsessive and violent girlie, she can be persuaded to not be a total murder hobo and sometimes even decides on her own to go against Bhaal's wishes (she still cool with murder though). As I previously mentioned, Ren was created by Bhaal to assist His Chosen in his duties and leading the temple, as most priestesses/priests of Bhaal do. She is more of a companion and advisor to The Dark Urge, rather than a servant like Sceleritas Fel. She is deeply (obsessed) "in-love" with The Dark Urge, and supports him over Orin. A while before the whole tadpoles, absolute, blah blah blah stuff, her and Orin had a brief history, but it was moreso Orin's jealousy of what Durge had. Her in-game class is a Bhaalist class mod! It is very fun so far, and she just levelled up to level 3 and can now has the ability Verminous Metamorphosis, so she can turn into a… RAAAAT!! 🐀 sorry, Astarion :( However, I see her as a combo of this and a death cleric of Bhaal. In terms of how her story is going in the BG3 campaign, i still haven't fully fleshed anything out yet! I would assume she would have a large impact on Durge's memory loss. Maybe she will have her own gaps in memory, but knows they have a reason to go to Baldur's Gate. As for other durge events, I believe she would be proud of The Dark Urge for such a "beautiful display of gore!" after Alfira night lol. I'm still undecided if I want to do redemption or murder hobo durge... I don't want to kill Isobel so I'm probably going to headcannon that Bhaal tasks The Dark Urge with killing her, as a way to test if he is "losing his way", or if he cares more about the life of a "mere servant of Bhaal" than his own "birthright" as Bhaal's Chosen.

For now I am just going with the flow of the game and doing some fun photo and gif series of Ren and Durge's adventure in my Durgetav playthrough!

Truly, the Gortash dialogue option I was missing

Admittedly, I was kinda disappointed that I did not get a chance to talk sense into Gortash. Like, sure, yeah, I blew up the factory and freed all the hostages and what not, but when I (after solving everyone's problem in the fucking city) then came to deal with him and he is like: "No, you betrayed me. We gotta fight." What I wanted was an option like this:

"Oh, come on now, honey. We defeated your murder hobo buddy, the other murder hobo buddy, her ancient grand dad. We disabled your fucking mechanic army. Also, we just come back from fighting a fucking dragon. Oh, and we killed the devil who had enslaved you. HOW DO YOU THINK THIS IS GOING TO END? You are supposed to be the fucking intelligent one. You have like two bodyguards left. You gotta see you are not going to win this one, right?"

I mean, admittedly, that in general is an issue I have in so many games where I get to talk and make my charisma based builds. When I am thinking like: "Oh come on now, bad guy, you are the intelligent one. How do you think this will end?"

And yeah, I admit. After learning about his story, I kinda felt for him. Like, he is evil, sure. But also my Tav in general is all about giving people second, third, forth and fifth chances. And, like... He very much would have tried to talk sense into that man.

Hmpf, might write a fic about how I think this would have gone with my Tav. lol

So... Frazer the voice actor to Dammon doesn't want Tav or the Dark Urge to romance his character? Well, shit.

It's late, I'm tired and should be in bed, just saw the letter from Dammon from patch 5, and yeah I'm a little weepy now. So excuse any typos.

Fair warning: Just some venting below but no major spoilers.

Update: I've got a better understanding of where Frazer is coming from and a better solution suggestion is 👉here.

So wait... Frazer doesn't want more work? Why? I mean true, I don't really see Dammon getting along well with a Dark Urge or a Tav Murder Hobo type, but a majority of Dammon's fandom we genuinely adore him and Karlach. And, I'd like to think, most of us just love options. We want to romance him with Karlach and a player character of our own design too.

Would I romance him on every playthrough? Maybe or maybe not. But I do know it will be at least once as Karlach. (I'm on two immunosuppressants. I don't-can't get out much. I can sooo relate to her being touched-starved stuff. I cuss just as much as her too-if not more.) I've got no problem playing as her but again most of us want more options. So what's the problem?

For her, the devs could even put in a few special lines that are unique to their romance. Hells, I would romance them both all the way through the game with Tav if I could so nobody was feeling left out.

Respectfully, I don't understand what Frazer's hang-up is at all. But it feels like a slap in the face when Dammon has become a comfort character to so many of us. We're cheering him on and we're trying to drum up interest to get Frazer a bigger part.

We do this because some of us have a lot of shitty real-life stuff going on, and BG3 has become our escape. And, unlike every romance option we have so far, Dammon doesn't bring us big drama or a lot of demands to the table. Even as just a merchant, he somehow feels... just there for us... supportive. He's not just a pretty face to us, we seriously want to get to know Dammon just a little more! We want him to evolve and grow. We want to know what's his baggage. At this point many of us would settle for him to be just NPC we can romance-not a fling mind you. A full romance like what we see in Dragon Age Inquisition with Cullen or Josephine.

But wouldn't it be cool if we could get him as a full companion? One that could perhaps be an Artificer in a DLC that would introduce that class to the player too?

Even now, when my Tav visits him each day to sell their things, I forget for a little while all the crushing pressure on my play character's shoulders for a few minutes.

In early access, overhearing him grumble about wanting better tools had me roleplaying to collect every tool I could find. A little silly minnie quest. Giving him hammers, and other blacksmith-related stuff, for free taught me how to raise my relationship with a merchant and get a better discount.

Perhaps his simplicity or just his kindness is his appeal. Perhaps don't give him too much baggage if you flesh him out more please.

But how do we get around this Larian, if Frazer won't budge?

Hate to suggest this but consider, Dammon has a twin brother, a nearly identical one. Maybe he has more scars, a different hairstyle, have fun with his design. Oh, maybe he never takes his enchanted armor off, and we have to go into the relationship a bit blind with no idea what he looks like under it all at first. He finally takes his helmet off and seeing Dammon's face we're a little confused. Trust me, we will suspend our disbelief given magic and dragons, for starters, exist in this world. Dammon having a long-lost twin won't be a huge stretch.

So have the twin, instead of Dammon, drop as one of the stars in a DLC. Have him join our party as a fully fleshed-out, perhaps mysterious, companion featuring the Artificer class and fully romanceable. Finally, the fandom gets what we want, a male tiefling we can romance. Dammon can hammer away at his forge and pine for Karlach all he wants. Frazer can stand by whatever principles that are making him hesitant to take on a larger role, more acclaim, another paycheck, possibly more work, and maybe even a gaming voice acting award.

By all means Larian, please throw all that money and acclaim you would have thrown at him at another voice actor. Let the new guy have it all. Sure we'll still pine a bit over Dammon now and then. But if Frazer doesn't want a larger role, guess we'll have to try and respect that.

My goodness, can you get even more perfect? *cries in joy* I love my hobo looking god, his baby snow puff son, Ms. I get out of my own body, a war goddess and her earring, a literal disaster goddess and her husband, my precious baby god, and a thunder god and his dragon. I'm not even touching on Nora and, of course, I love to hate "Father" (which reminds me, I need to catch up with the manga now that it's ending). Okay, that said, I'm back to reading your answer. lolol. Yeah, I'm a big fan of Noragami. I discovered it through one of the soundtracks! Sometimes I'll randomly jump through songs I like on Youtube and start clicking on recommended songs to see if I can find any new songs that I like. And one day, the track "Misogi" came up, and the photo was a close-up on Yato's eyes, and between those two things, I just had to check it out. Once I realized the anime wasn't finished and probably wasn't going to be, I switched over to the manga, which is honestly even better.

I haven't read several of the most recent volumes, though I keep on buying them. It's just that every time a new one releases, I always realize I can't remember what all happened, and then you're looking at the arduous task of rereading everything all over again, lol. But I heard that the final volume would be releasing this fall, so I've been biding my time, and once it's actually finished, I'm going to sit down and read my way through all of it and finally finish the story.

But yeah, I love the main trio a lot, and of course the war goddess is beyond awesome. I'm actually not sure who you mean by "precious baby god," and I only vaguely remember the "thunder god and his dragon," because it's been so long since I've visited the tale. But I'm excited to finally finish it all later this year!

Okay hear me out.... We now know what the Steps would be in D&D... But what character would they *play*? Who's rolling the murder hobo barbarian, who's the bard who seduces the dragon, etc?

So I’ve definitely thought about this before… anyway, have a bunch of random facts about this AU where they all play D&D together I guess? Who the DM is is a mystery, but I’m voting Themmy

Antoine

is the bard who seduces the dragon for sure - although he’d probably still play fighter/rogue cuz he’s not gonna want to bother to learn how magic works

He’s just there to hit stuff, get treasure and flirt

He might also try barbarian and somehow manages to do better than nic at persuasion

Says he’s not interested in any deep storytelling and makes his characters kind of jokey with basically no backstory, but is the first to get attached to an NPC who died and like spends the rest of the game evolving his character based on various encounters

Plays as a tiefling at least once but would also want to try some sort of genasi and definitely a catboy as well - basically anything that looks cool and not too much like a human

Nicholas 

would probably play a warlock - for the Drama™ 

they’d have the most elaborate backstory/plot that they’d wait until the very end to reveal 

voted most likely to either end up evil or die within 2 sessions

Rolls terribly at all persuasion/intimidation checks despite high charisma, but one time they manage to pull off something crazy like making a whole town think they’re the mayor or w/e and they live on that high for weeks after despite going back to their usual shitty luck

would def still go for artificer, but might choose cleric too. 

She’s the one who takes care of the party basically, but also gets them into trouble because she steals Everything (not that anyone thinks it’s her, they go after the other idiots instead lol). 

Loves to make traps and do heists

But also wants to try to befriend everyone and everything they meet even if they’re attacking

Always thinks of clever solutions but is also a bit of a troll who will play pranks on NPCs and party members alike

would play any small race - gnome, halfling, goblin etc.

Densil 

is the rules-lawyer and still a paladin, but could also play an extremely tired cleric if necessary. 

They’re the one trying to keep the party on track and tries to do most interactions with NPCs because they (rightly) don’t trust the others, but usually doesn’t manage to keep them from interfering.. 

Has the most graphic descriptions when he kills things

Plays either lawful good or lawful evil, sometimes both in the same game

Is the party secretary, keeping track of inventory and quests and important NPCs and other “boring stuff” that the others don’t want to do - but they like it. 

Would probably play human for stats mainly, but could also decide to play aasimar 

My friends have recently started talking about playing Sims and i’m so weak to that game of course I opened it up as soon as I heard it mentioned. While I was cleaning up my saves though I accidentally deleted my game!! Since I had to go ahead and remake all my Sims (I totally had to you guys) I thought I might as well show you ❤️

First I made Hasun of course my stinky hobo man (I downloaded eye bags just for him). The game actually has purple eyes as a default option but they look funny so I decided to go with a realistic look. What would this ferret look like as a real person? He looks like he never does laundry.

Next I made Hana of course. Sims kids always look really weird so I actually designed her as a teen first and aged her down. (In the Sims Hana is a genetic clone of Hasun cause using the genetics tools was easier than starting from scratch lol).

She’s got a little dragon jacket I love it!

2/3 of my onmyoji dragons is finally done hhh I’ve got Taishakuten, Asura just finished, just waiting on Ootengu..which is pretty funny since he’s like one of the first ssr units that released lol

At least one of my two fire projects is done now that I have a fire-element Asura hhh I really can’t thank Match, Shrugs, and Chrome enough for letting me borrow their nests like a panhandling hobo lol
