cure album liveblog (aka me devolving into insanity) unedited no grammar corrections this is between me and my phone keyboard
all I'm gonna say is that the singles do not do this album justice
cure: it's a precursor to what's to come I'm already so familier with it. first time I've got both earbuds in though 🥴. it's an expeeince
rumour of light: SHES PRETTY AND HEAVY holy shit the opening instrumental I was gonna cry, the vocalsssssss! the scream melody is so good, jesse's singing is something else (he's singing lower I might be able to actually hit his notes for once) GUITAR SOLO!!! its so melodic and pretty the vocal layering in the chorus is everything to me
idlw wind: quiet straight into heavy djenty, dark ambience, pretty yet heavy chorus, guitars are tight as fuck, chorus vocal melody is so good hes got a little bit of scream in there too, the bridge instrumental part is so !!! HANG ON IS JESSE SCRWMING THERE OR IS JT DOING SOMETJING DIFFERENT I DONT KNOE. outro part of chorus is so !!
blue reverie: fits so well in the grand scheme of the album? it's the slow respite from three quick heavy songs
slow sour bleed: industrial! production heavy intro! reminds me of psalm of sedition? it's gone quiet? very djent. ambience!! heavy/light whiplash. ELECTRONIC? erra typical structure fuck. OH BREAKDOWN THESE CALLOUTS ARE AMAZING. oh she's very heavy
wish: opening guitar haunts me. she's light and building. and an interlude
glimpse: OH! SHE CONTINUES DISTORTED. jesse is going at it with vocal work holy shit! JT CLEAN YELLINH! the guitars here I adore. THE VREAKDOWN HAS BEOKEN MY CEILING. jesse's voice from this chorus specifically is gonna haunt my dreams
past life persona: intro guitar is so pretty. dust of the human shape esque opening verse. very ghost atlas, a bit radio rock (metal)? sounds seaside in summer, type of song you'd introduce to your grandma. backing screams on point. breakdown flows very well it's explosive but doesn't break the stream of the song. is jt singing here?
crawl backwards out of heaven: jt song right after a jesse song, foreboding heavy. verse two is still groovy as fuck. bridge is still haunting as fuck
end to excess: clean glittery guitars, i want this intro to last forever. and now he's screaming. oh that verse lead! blast beats! oh that chorus feels movie-hopeful! I love it! the guitar leads in the second part of the chorus! BREAKDOWN! it's so different wow
pale iris: some good old fashioned metalcore. the verse leads at the start of the verse fit the leads sprinkled throughout the rest of the album. it's weird, it's the first single from the album but appears second last, and now I'm hearing it as part of the picture it sounds so much more coherent.
wave: ?? energetic guitars? reminds me of hyperreality? I love this song I don't know what's going on. some of the vocal parts remind me of a savage hands song. oh that bridge is powerful. I don't want this to end.
it can't be over
please tell me it's not over
that might be the best album I've ever heard.

your works are insane. do you have a favorite one among them? are there any interesting (or unnerving lol) facts you'd want to share about it? these questions probably sound like nonsense but i really appreciate artists' rambling about their own creations hahahs
Thank you, Im glad you like my work! Well geez I have a lot of favorite pieces of mine. I’m not sure which one is truly my favorite, but I have a few recent ones I’m pretty proud of. (apologies for not replying sooner, I didnt get this until now)
My jack stauber piece. I really liked what I did to the background with the stars and overall the composition of it. I remember listening to him back in 2018 when I was younger. It was kind of a light bulb above my head pointing my finger up “EUREKA!” moment because I completely forgot about him and wanted to draw someone at the time. I needed to draw him, so I reviewed one of his videos (which was his el dante video) and had to keep pausing frames for a good reference photo to draw him LOL. It was a cool video though with the visuals with the silly little fella. I love his music and his artstyle in his videos so much, he really inspires me into my work. So dont be surprised if I do draw him again, he is so fun to draw. One thing about my artwork is that sometimes the final product does NOT look like the original piece, so here is the traditional piece before and the final piece after.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My syd barrett piece. I like how this one turned out, I went really in on the detail in the background, and overall it was a fun to draw! you can tell I really enjoy drawing backgrounds in my art, it brings the piece together in the end :-) One fun fact about this drawing is that the quote is from Pink Floyd’s song “One of my turns” because I was listening to that song while I was drawing this! I started listening to pink floyd 1 and a half years ago, and still dont really know much about the band, but I remember I was looking up the singer of the band and it was syd barrett. but the day I drew this is when I realized he died. I was shocked because Im still a new fan, but bro. Everytime I find a super cool band or artist, I always end up finding out the singer is dead or something.
Tumblr media
My Luke Crain piece. I always look back at this page in my gallery. It just looks so cool with the ravens flying across the page with the feathers and everything. The “are you okay?” bubble was such a great touch too Im so proud of that little detail. The reason why I drew this is because Luke (the character in the page) had such a interesting backstory and I felt strong emotions towards his character. He has a drug problem and his family doesnt really involve him much in events because of that. It just makes me feel dread for him, because you can tell he’s depressed in the series, and he wasnt even a “bad drug guy” more like a “sad guy that uses drugs to cope”. I feel like I can resonate with him because I feel like that way sometimes too. Feeling like a outcast from the rest of them or that something is wrong with you. I know that sounds cheesy lol, but its just that I felt so bad for him. Thats why this one is my favorite because it kind of means something to me.
Tumblr media
Okay thats the rest of my yapping, but whoever actually read all of this Im happy that you did! It makes me feel good that someone is actually interested about the process about my art or in my art in general.
Feel free to ask me anything related to my artwork I will happily answer :D

THERE IS SO MUCH WRONG WITH THE 2004 PHANTOM OF THE OPREA
*MAJOR SPOILERS FOR POTO*
For one, THE MOVIE IS NOT AN OPERA!!! They start and stop so many times it kills me. THE ENTIRE POINT IS TO HAVE THE WHOLE SHOW BE BASICALLY MUSIC AND ITS NOT THAT.
Now let me talk about the singing….THERE NOT OPERA SINGERS OML. Warner bros had one job and they failed. I ALSO DONT BLAME ANYONE FOR THE VOCALS, some of them are not genuine opera singers so of course I don’t like a lot of the versions of the songs. I want to go into an opera knowing I will listen to it. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND
Some of the choreography for the show feels very odd, ESPECIALLY IN POINT OF NO RETURN. The entire point of that number is that you’re not really sure if the phantom is one behind the cloak singing, until you see that Christine gets freaked out by the way the phantom touches her. It’s so the audience knows that Christine is aware of the phantom, but since SHE MUST KEEP PREFORMING she has no choice but to seduce him for the rest of the number, WHEN IN REALITY SHE WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM IN THAT WAY. She is so in love with Raoul that she would never betray him, LIFE OR DEATH. The only reason she kisses the phantom at the end is so SHE AND RAOUL COULD ESCAPE. SHE WOULD NOT DO THAT IN ANY OTHER SCENARIO. The beauty and the tension in that scene is all gone because of this lazy choreography.
And again it’s not the actors fault for this, I’m not blaming them. I’m blaming the corporate pigs that ruined one of the greatest musicals of all time.
I’m so happy I didn’t watch the movie when I first heard about it. I think I would have hated it if I saw it instead of the stage production.
I truly think that the 25th anniversary preformed in the Royal Albert Hall is the way the show is supposed to be heard. Everyone is FANTASTIC and there are ABSOLUTELY NO DULL MOMENTS IN IT. I don’t think I can hear anyone sing any of the songs but this cast. I know in my heart who my characters are and they’re them. From the vocals to costumes, it’s genuine perfection. (It’s free on YouTube if your interested)
K THATS IT FOR NOW :3
I don’t really rant on tumblr that much but this GENUINELY PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH AHHHHHHHHHHH
Ok byeeee 🥰

ok hold on im here with my band thoughts about riptide the musical. full disclosure this may not make sense i tried to be coherent.
i think that in the dunjon the orchestra would get real spooky during this. I ALSO REALLY WOULD LIKE SOMETHING CHOIR GOING ON IN THE BACKGROUND. what im thinking is like op 32 - 7 neptune, the mystique by gustav holst. they have an all female choir that sings this really nice chord and adds a lot to the song. this would mainly play while gillion stands before the elders and i think it would be interesting to play with the idea of the key and melody instrument changing between trials. i ALSO think it would add to the whole "this isnt real. but you dont know that" idea if the song stayed the same. no matter the scene.
assigning characters certain instrument melodies like how they do how to train your dragon is SUCH a cool idea to me. i think gillions motif would be played by a french horn. not too sure on the notes but definitely something with those typical heroic tones. chips would be played by a bassoon. hear me out on this. i actually dont have any reasoning. its just vibes alone. jay tripped me up for a bit due to her more complex character, but i think she would be played by bell chimes
going back to arrangements matching certain scenes i can TOTALLY imagine the island of zero scenes with movement three of west highlands sojourn as it is primarily navy based. (this is totally a bias since i play this piece for my competition this year. but i just generally really like west highlands sojourn)
i think it would be SUPER cool to have band involvement on stage. im not sure if this goes across for all productions, but i once saw a high school production of Catch Me if you can in which the jazz band was directly on stage in certain scenes. in certain scenes like the casino arc, anytime they enter a tavern, or just a place where there's street performers. having just soloist or a small ensemble on stage would be SO incredible. i think it would be so cool if the whole band was up there during the noctis like fancy party all dressed up. god id go insane.
i think anytime theres a navy related topic/scene there'd be this BRASS HEAVY melody (id say led by low trombones) if you've ever listened to arabesque. its a little something like the saucy lick they have going in that. i also think that whenever marshall john shows up the brass thing still plays but it sounds like a circus march.
SPEAKING OF CIRCUS MARCHES. i think that the entire time they are in Kas' Karnival (or however you spell it) a different strain of a circus march plays. specifically here im thinking Grand Galop by Johnnie Vinson because it has such wiggle room for tempo that you can play around with the mood of the carnival. in the pixieland and other peaceful areas the trio (a clarinet and euphonium led part. very soft and silly. most of the band rests during this.) plays. in the big top extravaganza the final strain plays (thats basically a rebalanced version of the trio to include the full band) i think the break strain would play anytime things got stressful. the other two strains could be anywhere really as they are pretty general.
those are the thoughts ive had so far abt it but if i have anymore ill let u know ^_^
HOLY SHIT ROSEMARY I AM SHAKING U I LOVE THIS SOOOOO MUCH….. I KNOW LIKE. VERY LITTLE ABOUT ORCHESTRA AND INSTRUMENTS BUT HOLY SHIT KM IN LOVE WITH THIS ALL OF IT!!!!!
i so so agree with u for the dunjon scene . i imagine during either the trials or gillion’s speech to the elders the choir would be BEAUTIFULL like singing rlly high notes and there’d be a lot a dissonance. like man <333
i listened to all the songs u mentioned and !!!! they are so cool i love all ur thoughts :3
AND I AGREE assigning characters a specific instrument is sooo cool <333 each character would have a little theme/motif (? idk which one is the right word) that would play in the background if a scene or song is specifically focused on them… ough man <333
i was thinking like for jay it could be something like a violin or viola. like it’s usually a fancy and elegant instrument but it can go CRAZYY when you want it to <3 and in scenes like the block i imagine jayson would have a strong cello playing for him and jay’s violin would be echoing his notes… ough. wind chimes are a really good idea though it plays a lot into some of her wind imagery (THIS IS THERE I KNOW IT IS OK<3)
and !!!! brass instruments for the navy are so really actually they are very loud and strong and generally inspiring :3 also something like a french horn for gill’s theme???? mwah mwah in love
HAVJNG THE BAND ON STAGE SOUNDS SO COOL?????? in taverns and big islands it makes so much sense. i feel like it would tie the roots back to dnd a little and it would make the town feel more real!! i love it <3
i am soosooo in love with all of this <33 gillion’s theme would be very strong and powerful like you can feel it in your bones, but through out the musical it dies down. it’s not as loud and intimidating or out there.
jays theme would be very subtle. it would be as loud but it is definitely there. the song wouldn’t sound the same without it. OH MY GOD. her theme plays in the block when she walks to her fathers side but it doesn’t have her specific instrument and it just isn’t the same. then a few measures in it gets replaced with a big cello and her instrument echoes the cello <333
chips theme would be very sudden and sharp. like it’s always on the verge of growing into something HUGE but it never really does. like ouugh. <333 sorry i’m having so many thoughts. his theme would have a harmonica ive just decided <3333
tyty rosemary for these amazing thoughts i’m going feral actually ily <33333

HELP IM BRIBED SO EASILY OK:
delicate - OHHHHHHHHHHH THIS SONG MAKES ME FEEL THINGS,,, WHENEVER ITS PLAYING I IMAGING THAT IM DANCING IN THE RAIN LIKE TAYLOR DOES IN THE MUSIC VIDEO
call it what you want - this one and delicate are actually joint first in my ranking for rep,, theyre just so wholesome and i love them so much theyre my babies omg
new years day - also soo whilesome and i love this as a simple closer for such a highly produced, chaotic album. it really does make you feel like youre cleaning up after a long day,, ALSO THE LYRICS 'PLEASE DONT EVER BECOME A STRANGER WHOS LAUGH I COULD RECOGNISE ANYWHERE' HURTS SO BAD BECAUSE JOE IS A STRANGER WHOS LAUGH SHE COULD RECOGNISE ANYWHERE NOW :(((((((((( ACTUALLY DEVESTATING.
dress - not so wholesome ! but best believe i will be singing this song LOUD,, also when she talks about joes buzz cut and her bleached hair its so funny because idk how either of them pulled eachother that night😭 they looked so silly (i <3 bleachella though in a campy way)
king of my heart - ok this ranking is so hard to do bc half of these songs are about how her and joe are gonna be together forever and in this one shes literally like 'is this the end of the endings' and then they ended. so...
getaway car - sorry this song is acrually so hilarious im so sorry tom hiddleston 😭 i do not condone cheating but the way taylor admits to it here?????????? so proudly????????????? girl😭😭😭😭😭😭 ohh and the bridge takes my soul to another DIMENSION I LOVEEEEE KEY CHANGES
look what you made me do - ok the thing about this song is that you cant understand it without undestanding the context, the comeback from a year of silence with the snakes used against her,, the music video (which is the best mv of all time btw,,,, ive been decoding it for years now) etc etc i could talk so long about it,, also the rep tour version of this >>>>>>>>> so good
...ready for it - ICONIC ALBUM OPENER ( I WAS NOT READY FOR IT !!!!! 2017 ME HAD NO IDEA !!!!!!!!!!!)
i dont wanna live forever - ok guys can we just talk about how taylor literally has a collaB WITH ZAYN MALIK. WHY ARENT WE TALKING ABOUT THIS SONG MORE. WHAT. i love both of their higher registers in their voices so sos so so much
so it goes... - underrated bop, taylor was so wrong for not playing it on the rep tour because 'you did a number on me, but honestly baby whos counting / i didnt know you were keeping count (lyric from high infidelity,, which is about calvin harris,, aka the last long relationship she had before joe) IS GOLD
this is why we cant have nice things - i love it when taylor talks to the people who wronged her like theyre children,, its so satisfying
dont blame me - this used to be higher up but ive heard it so many times now so its getting a little ruined😭but the OHHHH LORD SAVE ME MY DRUG IS MY BABY ILL BE USIN FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE (USIN FOR THE REST OF MY LIIFE OOOOOOOhoooOoooooooOOOOOOOOOO O HHHHH) will REMAIN ICONIC TILL THE END OF TIME
dancing with our hands tied - the lyrics are so good and this song feels super nostalgic because the production is very reminiscent of a lot of the songs you hear in 2017 ahhh
i did something bad - i love how she was saying this even though at that time she actuually hadnt done anything bad😭 but this was necessary for the snake character so slay queen🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍 ohh also the dyuuuh dhu dhu dhu dhu dhu dhu IS SO ICONIC,, THE WAY SHE WOKE UP AT NIGHT WITH THAT IDEA AND RECORDED IT??? LMAO????????
end game - WHY DID SHE LET ED SHEERAN RAP LMAOOOOOO SOBBING,,, HE WOULD FIT ON LITERALLY ANY ALBUM BUT THIS ONE😭also this is another one of those depressing rep songs bc joe was NOT endgame
gorgeous - ok i didnt like this song for literal years,, i like it now but its still in the bottom half of my overall ts ranking,, however i DO love the lyric about her cats and the *ding* after

sad songs in a hotel room -ep review & thoughts
im bored so i’ll react & share my first thoughts and reactions.
aside how i’ve feel about some joshua fans i still respect joshua and im not a fan of him i dont find him interesting but i love music and find music interesting so thats all it takes to get me listening.
track number 1 title track sad songs in a hotel room. joshua seems like he’s reminiscing in a hotel room the same hotel he once shared with a partner. i like the production & his flow on it its lowkey different but not too different. well written.
edit: just read what he said in his billboard interview i believe it was explaining each song and he said this was about a time he spent in nashville with a partner. nashville alone should tell u who this song is about iykyk.
2. LA: songs about how la and hollywood and the industry has affected him / his experience. he sings he need to get out and runaway cause “lately everyones bringing me down” its simple lyrically and production wise. nothing interesting just his honesty. its nice to get a prespectice of celebrities living in la and working in hollywood and this is a common one.
3. Used to it: joshua is angry or disappointed in this track a that someone didnt call when he was at his lowest. he recalls how this person has always mistreated him. i really like the production on this.
4. smoke slow: sorry i dont like this song but i get why people do
5. lifeline: an emotional letter to his mother expressing his love for his mother at a time where he was in his near death experience. not his best song but its still a beautiful song i just dont think it needed a music video. he should have pushed the 1st track.
6. all in due time: inspirational track of how things could get better one day! i really like the 2nd verse and bridge, lyrics is great the production and song as a whole is definitely a closing track so it was a good idea to close the ep with it.
In conclusion, i liked the opening track, used to it is production wise 2nd best. smoke slow shouldve stayed out of the ep with doppelgänger. the rest are okay maybe third favorite is either LA or closing track

Anonymous asked: Could you explain The Vampair series to me? What is it? A show or a set of music videos trying to tell a story? Is there a story? Also, since she doesn't have one, what voice do you give to Missi when writing her?
Tumblr media
Alright anon, I finally got to answering this cuz I finally remembered to do so.
Kay, so we got to get a few things straight right off the bat (vampire puns lol)
Vampair Playlist
Threnody Playlist
1. Vampair is not owned by Voltair, it has no relation to him, nor is he affiliated, he does not do anything for the series and frankly barely acknowledges it’s existence lmao. Do not assume this is his series. Holy shit I’m sorry for coming off as agro at the start but this is not his series I cannot tell you how much it pisses me off to see people crediting Voltair for Vampair’s creation, throwing the actual creator under the bus when he thinks animation isn’t worth his time, Duke sure might have been inspired partially by him but that’s it, that’s all there is. They share a voice and that’s where it ends. It’s why in EVery single vampair video it says “FAN ANIMATED” because its not made by him. I’m sorry to go off at the start but please for the love of fuck Daria gets NOTHING from her videos, it’s all copyrighted music and goes to voltair (which is why she relies a lot on the commissions and patreon, please check it out) who doesnt have anything to do with production, funding, or anything but i could go on a whole rant about that later. Basically:
Vampair was thought of, created, animated, and fully belongs to Daria Cohen now that that’s out of the way
2. Vampair works in a hand-in-hand way with a second series. Threnody is a story made by Missmi, Mina Rose on Youtube. The series, while feature different characters, take place within the same universe and MUCH of the lore from Vampair comes from Threnody with only some minor differences here and there as every creator has a right to have. To fully understand Vampair/Threnody world I would watch BOTH series because major plot points and explanations for questions might easily be answered in Threnody so please, DO NOT IGNORE IT JUST CUZ IT’S NOT FULLY ANIMATED LIKE VAMPAIR. Yall are literally missing out on so fucking much by ignoring Threnody not to mention so many characters from Threnody are really great and Mina also puts a lot of work into her series as well.
3. Vampair is more than one episode. I know most people have seen “The Night” but GUYS, THERE’S A SECOND SEASON. IT DIDN’T JUST STOP AFTER THAT ONE EPISODE LIKE COME ON. SO MANY PPL TELL ME THEY JUST STOPPED WATCHING AFTER EPISODE 3 AND IM JUST SCREAM
So for the rest to actually answer your questions I’m going to put under a read-more since I’m going to go on for a while.
Could you explain The Vampair series to me? What is it? A show or a set of music videos trying to tell a story?
The Vampair Series is an independantly animated series made by Daria Cohen and her small group of cleanup artists and background artists. It is a Music Video Series where it tells a story through a musical aspect, animating to songs to tell it’s story.
I wouldn’t say “trying to tell a story” because it does tell a story. Saying “try to tell” feels almost insulting? As if music-video based chapters and series aren’t legitimet ways of storytelling which is rude as you wouldn’t nessessarily say that to a song writer who writes stories in their song. Would yo usay “they’re trying to tell a story” or that “they’re telling a story”? IDK semantics, just feels like “trying” implies it is failing in some way which i dont think it is a tall.
Is there a story?
The Vampair series, as of now, follows the story of Duke (no known last name) and Melissa Dumarias (no they aren’t related)
Duke, who appears to be in his 20s-30s is a vampire who at the start of the series had in his possession The Anger Cane, a powerful artifact that the ruler of vampires wields. It bestows the one who holds it with a power to make deals with the entity living within it, granting them immeasurable power while enhancing their own special unique talents. Duke, at the start of the series, was heading off to do something as he normally would when Melissa Dumarias decides to enter his castle.
Entering the home (presumably) to read her book and escape from her home (speculation) she meets Duke who decides to derail his previous obligation to mess with Melissa. Melissa, fearing for her life, runs around the castle hopelessly trying to escape him as he toys with her. Duke, unbeknownst to Melissa, wasn’t going to actually harm her and let her go when he had enough. Though due to her fearing for her life, realizing he was a vampire, leads him on and seduces him to the point he lowers his guard and she can take the cane.
With the cane in hand she uses it as a psudo-bat to hit him into open sunlight and kill him. With him gone she obtains the power of the cane which turns her into a psudo-vampire. While still human under her skin, so long as she uses the power from the Cane she is vampire in all appearance (though I canon divert a bit).
As of now, Missi, in an act of revenge, resurrects Duke who had been living it up in the Underworld somehow becoming it’s ruler. Once he is back to Earth being mortal Missi tortures him in the same way he had done to her, ending with her kicking him out of his house she takes. By now she has also obtained a feline familiar named Minose.
Duke, back on earth with not much to do goes to the graveyard and meets a zombie prostitute and gets zombie STDs becoming a vampire-zombie hybrid. Along with that he meets Vanessa, Melissa’s (now known as Missi) sister. He tries to sleep with her, though due to the zombification his dick tears off (no im not joking this is canon) and he leaves Vanessa with the tip of his dick.
Meanwhile in the castle the same night, Missi has a complete mental breakdown seeing the cost of power having gotten to her. Breaking down and hallucinating various things in her surrounding she can barely tell reality from hallucination and she is driven to hallucinate herself ripping out her own veins in an attempt to rid herself of monsters she believes lives under her skin. This act causes her to throw away the cane, which without contact turns her back to being human and she almost chooses to leave. Until she sees Duke standing outside the castle yet again and her anger pushes her back to the cane. accepting it’s insanity and delusion for it’s power.
After some undisclosed time, Missi and Duke finally have a “final” showdown between them where they mostly just dance and sing, until Duke tries to poison Missi and she rejects it causing Duke to fly into a rage and hit her. Retaliation after retaliation it ends with Duke grabbing a silver-bladed axe and coming after Missi as she defends herself with the cane. They both exchange equal blows until Duke si able to successfully grab the cane from her hand and use it to stab out her left eye. In retaliation Missi grabs the silver axe and and cuts off his right thumb.
Aftermath of it, they agree to a sort of “truce” where both are still abusive and hurt one another physically (and emotionally) but they realize being together even in their twisted ways, is better than living alone.
Season 2 starts off showing us Duke at his mother’s funeral where his father barely looks at him and leaves as soon as he can without paying any mind to his mother’s death or the child leaving him to walk off into the woods alone.
season 2 episode 1 shows Duke and Missi getting along better, Duke’s past of being negleceted by his father growing up, being bullied and hurt to such an extent he ran away from home only to meet Artemis (from Threnody) who turned him into a vampire. Missi and Duke are shown getting along much more than before even if she is still drinking heavily, they haven’t resorted to beating each other nearly as much.
and that’s the story as of right now, congrats you’re all caught up :D
what voice do you give to Missi when writing her?
Honestly? I’m kinda wiht Daria on this one in that as for Vampire-Missi I don’t have a single voice I use
I more or less just use a variety of songs I associate with her that I feel could work well for her voice depending on what kind of “tone” she’s trying to put on. Her vampiric persona in my eyes is something she plays up on and as such she performs differently depending on the mood she wants to give.
As a default I kinda have the voice from “Hooked (Addicted you might say)” in my head
But also “My Alcoholic Friends” works well as well to me
For more happier tones, I think more of The Dismemberment Song singer. TBH I’ve thought about making an animatic to this of “if missi won the showdown” AU where she would just tear apart Duke and put him back together especially now as he’s a zombie she could have a lot of fun dismembering him and putting him back together and studying him
But also songs from Lily Allen work as well since Daria has used it before, especially in Smile

Okay, some questions for the band AU:
How would Jensen meet Bryce in this AU? What would be different and what would be the same?
Why did he go into music? Does he have any special rolemodels in the music world?
Does he keep it national? Or does he have any international concerts?
His favorite and least favorite parts of being a musican?
tysm <3
quick overview so things make sense: aliyah is their lead singer and guitarist, jensen is their bassist, pianist, and backing vocalist, and cyrus (cy) is their drummer and producer (though they all work on production together)
How would Jensen meet Bryce in this AU? What would be different and what would be the same?
i think i answered this before but ive changed it a bit anyway so this is good for an update!! they meet at edenbrook (would be book 2) after jensen smashes his chin open on a mic stand,, (this happens in cannon when he was in the band, but for the au i changed the timeline.) he did a backflip of cy's drumset but aliyah moved her mic stand at the Wrong Time so he didn't see it and stumbled into it on the landing
the timeline is definitely a lot shorter in this one, only about a year for them to get together instead of 3. after the tour, jensen comes out to visit and hang with the group. they dont officially get together during this time, but they're pretty close to it. jensen goes back to chicago for a few months but he and bryce are talking like Every single day and eventually get together long-distance. it takes another year of weekend visits and long phone calls before bryce moves to chicago with him
Why did he go into music? Does he have any special role models in the music world?
he genuinely only got into music because aliyah told asked him to. they were in senior year of hs together, and aliyah had a deal with her parents that if she could have a serious band/music career plan they would get her a really nice, new electric guitar. jensen worked for her dad, and they had talked a few times at school, so even though he didnt play music she knew hed probably be willing to give it a try (her dad had also talked about him a bit at home and how he can pick up on things quickly, so that encouraged her to ask, too).
he really doesnt have any musical role models ig?? there are groups he takes inspo from, of course, but the music industry tends to be fucked up in a lot of places and he doesnt like to put too much weight on bigger artists
Does he keep it national? Or does he have any international concerts?
the band has quite a few international shows!! they primarily focus on the u.s., canada, and latin america, but they have a european run as well. their latin fanbase is only slightly smaller than their u.s. one because a good handful of their songs are in spanish, and, if not, they usually release a spanish version if it sounds good translated (many of which jensen sings on bc he actually speaks it fluently, where aliyah just learned in school and from jensen)
His favorite and least favorite parts of being a musician?
hmmm favorite is probably being able to do something he absolutely loves. making and performing music is one of his favorite things, and on top of that he gets to do it with his best friends. there are always negatives, but he knows how lucky he is to be so well off doing something he actually enjoys
least favorite is being on tour, 100%, no matter how much fun it is. its not so bad before he meets bryce and the rest of the group, but after it can take a big toll on those relationships because hes away for so long. he'll be on tour for almost a whole year, plus another stretch in the next, and shows and timezones put a serious barrier between communication. sure, when hes home, they can be together more than another profession would allow, but when hes away it can suck majorly, especially for his mental health. (the reason he stopped performing in cannon was mental health issues, but in this au he found a healthy solution and got on his meds much earlier, so was able to get back to it quick enough to sign with a record label.) sometimes other musicians can take their partners on tour for a few shows, but because of how much bryce works, it just wouldnt be possible

Demo Review: Osgiliath – L'ombre du Passé (1998)
Osgiliath was a relatively short-lived folk-black metal/epic black metal band from France, active only in the mid-late 90s. This is their second demo.
The demo begins with a nice synth piece that has a very fantastical atmosphere, and also has some narration that I can't understand because it's in french (PLEASE I HAVE SO MANY MUTUALS/FRIENDS THAT SPEAK FRENCH IF U DONT MIND, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IT'S SAYING I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW. The intro is very pleasant, and also doesn't overstay its welcome like many synth intros tend to do.
After the intro, it kicks straight into the first track, and the band displays their particularly talented rhythm section (the bass on this demo is sooooo good. very groovy), as well as some proficient riffing. However, the guitar isn't the center of the album. Instead, most melodies are provided by synths and some kind of flute.
The vocals are great on this release too, they're a lower growl, with a kind of unhinged, almost hateful quality to the screams that - along with the distorted guitar - creates a nice juxtaposition with the frail flutes and ethereal synths. The screams actually remind me a bit of Grausamkeit's Stardust demo. There's also a big use of clean vocals on this album, something I usually dislike in metal, but I think it works well here, especially the female vocalist as she has a very soothing and pleasant voice.
The production is actually pretty fuckin good on this demo. Everything is audible, nothing drowns anything else out, it isn't super muddy or piercing, and each instrument is allowed to shine, with the vocals sitting on top nicely. There's a bit of a lack of lower bass frequencies, but it doesn't harm the demo at all, because everything else is very nicely rounded out. Unlike most black metal, this demo has a very warm and pleasant sound to it, and honestly isn't particularly distorted or aggressive.
The songwriting is on par with most similar acts, and reminds me a bit of some neoclassical-influenced dungeon synth, without sounding like classical music. There are plenty of catchy melodies (many with a triumphant/epic feel), and each song is distinct from the rest. There are also some pretty decent mood-shifts, like when the title track gets kind of dark and gloomy for a bit then switches back into being triumphant and happy sounding.
Overall, this is a very refreshing and unique take on black metal, at least compared to what I usually listen to, and I like it a lot. I'm sad that this band didn't do more, as there's definitely a lot of talent here. The atmosphere of this release is palpable, and it indeed reminds me a lot of Lord of the Rings (which was definitely intended) and each track conjures up images of battles, fantastical lands, and creatures.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes folk-black, Tolkien, or bands like Phantom Spire or Summoning.
7/10

Taylor soundtracks are usually great. Safe and Sound????? Eyes Open???? Beautiful Ghosts????? Sweeter than Fiction????? I DONT WANNA LIVE FOREVER????
The only i one i dont LOVE is Carolina. But not a lot of people capture a movie in a song as well as her.
Billie does! What was i made for? No time to die? She really GETS it!
I agree, no notes except for I wish that I could take the last verse out of Carolina and put it in another song because it is so personal to me (and most people who I know who were victims of abuse) but unfortunately the rest of the song and its production just does not do it for me. Crazier also wasn't a fave but like I was never a Hannah Montana girlie (it was on paid tv growing up here and I didn't have paid tv). But yeah the way that this fandom underrates the rest of her movie songs that aren't Safe and Sound (and to a lesser degree Eyes Open) is criminal, especially in Beautiful Ghosts case because I genuinely feel like people went "oh, the Cats song?" and never listened to it because like it's a top 10 Taylor song for me yet everyone ranks it so low lmao. Like unironically Taylor should sing it for Melbourne night 3 (before I Did Something Bad and announcing Reputation TV [joking]) because I will be there and will appreciate it lmao.
As for Billie, I completely agree and controversially (at least in this fandom) I hope she wins song of the year at the grammys because even though Taylor is long overdue, I personally like What Was I Made For more than Anti Hero ngl.

Hi,
When I saw interviews of Alex in the past when he would mention his family or future work he would say things like his Mum wanted him back in Denmark and to work on projects at home, etc. I can't remember the interviews or when as it was years back but I remember hearing that a few times and thinking yeah it must be hard to have your child working in another country miles away but surely if their dream was to act you would be supportive and understand them being away a lot and for long periods? If he put himself out there a bit more he could have went to Hollyweird and got some more big offers or some mid offers that were still bigger than anything back home. Yes it would mean being away from home more but usually actors/actresses/singers etc can fly back and forth often and actually see friends and family more often than those of us in regular jobs. It just makes me wonder if his Mum was a but pushy and controlling or has a big personality and influence over him and hence why he went back home and took more Danish offers and hasn't had anything big or had any offers of a big production? Also, given the COVID pandemic and lockdowns and travel restrictions he has kind of lost some momentum and now interest in him isn't as big as it was when Vikings was on so he will now struggle to stand out esp now he is hitting the 30s soon, it limits his roles a bit more also, esp in Hollyweird when there are a pool of young up and coming talent plus nepotism and those who are actively out there pushing themselves to be noticed, unlike Alex.
Another point from above I have thought is, if his mum is a bit domineering and over-involved in his decision making etc then I can see why he has ended up with someone like Johanne as she seems bossy, domineering and pushy. It also ties in with him making a life in Denmark instead of going abroad to spread his wings and get more jobs. While I don't agree with personal attacks on her looks, the things I have seen of her she comes across way too over-confident and cocky. I am more of an introvert-extrovert in the right company personality and have come across many like her and her friend group and they just take over and dominate social situations. They usually are seen as the confident ones, life and souls of the party but I always found those types sucked the life out of everyone else around them who was not loud enough to stand out from them. They can be charming though and maybe thats what he likes about her, her over the top confidence. Those types always seem to get what they want so its no surprise she is getting lots of work now. I agree that her being on every song on her podcast is just cringey and is a way to give her fame and attention and is not to promote and enhance the actual guest on the podcast.
Regarding Marco, the same interviews i mention above i read some from Marco too and in them his plan always seemed to be to move back home and do smaller independent projects, and pick productions on the quality and story rather than take everything he is offered. I remember him saying he didn't like the idea of Hollywood and all that comes with it so he had no intention of going out there or being a major actor over there. Its the same for many other shows - GoT, Cobra Kai, Stranger Things, etc its like a couple from this shows become super famous, the rest are never really seen in anything big ever again, just small parts here and there. So maybe he and many others in the Vikings cast will struggle to ever be a part of another production like Vikings. I find it strange, considering their friendship throughout the years filming vikings that many of the younger cast dont seem to interact with each other at all or hang out, even once a year or something, esp Marco and Alex living in the same country. I loved Vikings but many plots/subplots got beyond annoying by the final seasons which I think hindered the likes of Alex, Marco etc so I don't feel its entirely their fault the show wasnt as good as it was, they done the best with what they were given, same with all the extras and behind the scenes crew. It was the director who ruined their seasons in my eyes with his incessant use of pushing his daughter Torvis character into every big storyline and putting her with 1 of the main male characters each time a husband died or left her. The not aging the female characters. The falling in love with a female slave plot trope being overused and the Ivar thinking he is a God and pitting the brothers against each other killing off Sigurd, then Bjorn, not to mention the civil war and Lagertha suddenly killing Aslaug to usurp and become Queen were all hated by many loyal fans and turned them off the show. The real stories of Ragnar's sons were so much different and they all conquered so much, that could have been explored and maybe the show would have had a few more seasons in it?
sorry this is so long, i didn't mean it to be.
Thanks X
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and considerations, anon. 😊 (And don't worry about writing long texts, I'm also guilty of that sometimes. 😉)

Sly & The Family Stone - Stand!
This is basically Sly & The Family Stone's greatest hits album. It has I Want To Take You Higher, Sing A Simple Song, Everyday People, and You Can Make It If You Try. All monster hits that ride that line between funk and psycjedelic incredibly well. The goofy infectiousness of Sly & crew at their best is only slightly tempered by their comically centrist politics and desire to be taken seriously with them. I dont know how to tell you this Sly but i think that Don't Call Me N****r, Whitey might be pushing a false dichotomy. I assure you that calling someone "whitey" does not carry the same weight as the N word. On a lighter note Sex Machine scratches that particular itch I have for ten plus minute funk jams. I love a lengthy jam.

The Eagles - Hotel California
Man I fucking hate this album. The title track and Life In The Fast Lane are good and the rest is boring ballads. I dont think there is any banjo on this album at all! Its all hard rock balladry and even when they touch on interesting lyrical themes I'm still bored to death by the end results. I cannot fathom how this dumpster fire is the most popular Eagles album when you could be listening to any one of their previous records.

Kanye West - Late Registration
https://youtu.be/wvgehVhF9D4
https://youtu.be/e7e5BFJa-Ug
The College Dropout established that Kanye West was as talented a rapper as he was a producer. Late Registration proved that we were just seeing the tip of the iceberg. Ye's ability to be triumphant (Touch The Sky), politically biting (Crack Music), and sincerely sweet (Hey Mama) is a delightful balancing act. He puts all of himself into every rap. The production is some of the best I have ever heard on any album period. Obviously as a producer turned rapper himself the beats are tailored perfectly to his own style. And while the samples and orchestration are everywhere its the precision synth lines that take the songs to the next level, particularly the ending of Gold Digger and the synth run in Diamonds Of The Sierra Leone. Without a doubt Late Registration is one of the best hip hop albums ever made and second best in Kanye's catalogue as far as I'm concerned.
