Btw Israel let Palestinians celebrate not one (1) holiday in peace. They didn’t grant Christian Palestinians access to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, they actively attacked families who were already starving at Iftar during Ramadan, and now there are several reports of families being killed on Eid al-Fitr—a sacred multi-day holiday practiced by lots of Arabs. It breaks my heart imagining the Palestinian families in Gaza right now, most of whom are spending Eid mourning loved ones who were taken by Israeli strikes. Most of us will never understand the sheer magnitude of that pain.

5. Who are they loyal to? Why?
bryce is loyal to his friends 100%. theyre the people he chooses to have in his life so that means a lot to him. he has been burned on it before, but thats not going to stop him, if anything it just takes him longer to trust people. but yeah mainly friends/the people he chooses to keep in his life
10. What are their emotional triggers?
kinda talked ab this in my last ask but bryce being yelled at is a big one for him. like fighting/arguments in general. he and his dad used to have it out OFTEN esp as he got older and it was just brutal. he was not a sit still and be quiet kinda person though, he would argue back. as much as he has tried to get rid of that trait over the years, if hes getting yelled at, theres a 99% chance he will be fighting back. so arguments in general are just not great for him bc he has a hard time letting them go. as much as he can let go of things that dont matter, stuff like that just kills him. it totally puts him back into that headspace of feeling unloved and like garbage so thats a big trigger for him
15. What do they like/dislike about themselves?
when bryce is in a bad mental space he can really beat himself up for being annoying. normally he loves that he has the confidence to do things and just be himself, and hes very very proud of himself for getting to that point in his life (considering that he was not always like that), but when hes feeling like shit he just feels like he is the worlds biggest nuisance. just made a post ab this earlier--how his love language is "being annoying"--but really it is. bc it means hes w someone where hes comfortable enough to be like that all the time and knows that they love it regardless

i love the self-reflection going on in regards to checking yourselves for your own internal biases and in the spirit of that- i want to address one last thing.
the FIRST step in taking accountability is admitting what you've done is wrong. fully and transparently. apologies are a commitment made to those who have been wronged that you'll do better. they need to explicitly showcase what was wrong and who needs to own up to their wrongdoings (if you know anyone who needs to, ofc). otherwise it's only an apology made to save face so you can feel better and move on. not for the people affected.
so as someone done wrong, hear me when i say this:
whitewashing any canonically poc character is racist. supporting content that whitewashes poc characters is racist. and if you genuinely want to take accountability, you'll need to admit this out loud. fully and transparently for everyone to see:
bryce lahela from open heart was whitewashed. bryce lahela is an indigenous hawaiian person. [insert your name here] endorsed/supported fanart that whitewashed bryce lahela by [insert what you did here].
and before y'all start with the "i want to protect people's privacy" or "allow people the opportunity to acknowledge it themselves"--
being vague in your apology does no one any favors. it gives people an out. a reason to believe that whatever it is you're saying sorry for doesn't involve them. if they genuinely are unaware, you saying it out loud point blank period will go a long way.

bryce def avoids conflict, but in His way. conflict for him is more Actual arguments and confronting others just bc he doesnt like fighting. hes fine telling someone they got his order wrong, but thats bc he knows how to phrase it and be super sweet about it, so it's no big deal. same for when he knows others are in the wrong, he has no problem. but when its issues where he knows they may fight him on it, or be rude to him about it, he tends to stay away from it. he always fought a LOT with his dad growing up, so he knows how to argue, but it just puts him in a bad headspace
as for emotions, he will do Anything to avoid feeling lonely or isolated. bryce has dysthymia in my hc, which is a more mild but long-term form of depression, and being alone has a huge impact on that. for a very long time, bryce didnt have any close friends. hed have a few relationships here and there too, but oftentimes theyd want something he didnt (given that hes demiro) which could put a big strain on him. like he was being forced to be close with them. then for friends hes just never really found a solid group that he clicks with. he can get along w anyone, but hes never really found His People that just get him. so he tends to spend a lot of time adventuring the city, going out shopping, running errands that dont need to be done yet, etc etc just to keep himself busy and out of the house

What is their relationship with their family like?
What kind of people do they tend to gravitate towards?
What do they like/dislike about themselves?
