cow hybrids usually (not exclusively) live in herds and culturally, they are naked. (they do put on clothes in certain situations, mostly when dealing with humans, but otherwise, yeah.) which is why anakin hates clothes and doesn't like to wear them.
obi-wan is a farmer who does business with anakin's herd, so he's known him for a long time. anakin has always been a curious kid and talked to him a lot. one time, obi-wan's truck broke down and anakin fixed it because he's into mechanics and engineering and stuff like this a lot.
anakin gets tall and broad and strong once he hits that one puberty growth spurt at like, 16, and he's so pretty and bright eyed.
he realizes he's not into other cows/bulls but only into one person and that one person is obi-wan
meanwhile, obi-wan looks respectfully but has no desire or sexual/romantic attraction for a teenager, even though anakin is very unsubtle in his advances and affections.
anakin comes into his first milk at 16 after obi-wan visits the herd for some business reason, and he's grown a beard now, he looks so handsome, and anakin Feels Things
his chest is so tender, his nipples so sensitive. he massages his chest and when his milk spills out for the first time, he makes a breathy, high pitched sound because it feels so good, and he keeps going and going, and licks his own milk off his fingers and then uses some of it (stupidly) as lube (he switches to something more suitable) to finger himself and pretends it's obi-wan doing it to him

anakin spends a month a year with his herd and stops lactating within a few days, but a few days before he's due to return to the farm, his chest fills up again, so much. and he's uncomfortable and tender but he doesn't want anyone but obi-wan to get his hands or mouth on him, so he massages himself a little until eventually obi-wan picks him up again

Hey y’all! I am once again in health insurance hell. Details below the read more, because I ranted a little bit and it was getting a little long, but long story short:
Please send me either ideas of plushies to design or concepts you’d like me to explain the way I’d explain them to a small child. I’ve done that part before, I think I tagged it “tj explains things to toddlers”. It can be a fun challenge for me and I just want to stop thinking about health insurance for a while lol
I wanted to get a second rescue inhaler*, because my old ones are out of date, and I’d prefer to have two unexpired rescue inhalers so I can keep one in my purse downstairs and one by my bed, and my new health insurance won’t cover it! It’s $500 without insurance!! And that’s with the manufacturer coupon!!! I have until October before my current rescue inhaler expires, but still! I ended up having to physically go to my doctor’s office to get them to fill out a form to try and get my insurance to cover my inhaler because the phone tree at my doctor’s office is broken and will just hang up on you.
*my rescue inhaler is not actually a rescue inhaler, because I have what my doctor called “an adverse reaction” and what I call a “hey that summoned ALL the nurses EXTREMELY quickly” reaction to both albuterol and levalbuterol, the two main rescue inhaler medications. In most people the increase in heart rate from using the rescue inhaler is minimal, like less than 10 bpm if anything, but in me it was 80+ bpm increase and I found out if you gasp out “I can’t see” while wheezing you get EVERY nurse in the urgent care running to you very fast. My “rescue inhaler” is actually Atrovent, an inhaler for the treatment of COPD that works well enough for me to get away from whatever is causing my asthma attack and/or put on a filter mask, and since I have weird asthma it works for me.

Due to the nature of all media and works within this event, it is only for those that are 18 and older – upon signing up you acknowledge that you are not a minor.
Any kind of hate (kink bashing/shaming, harassment, toxic behaviour, etc.) will not be tolerated at any point. There will be no warnings given and if proven to have exhibited any disagreeable behaviours, you will be removed from the event.
Tag your works accordingly. We expect explicit works, and that will contain squicks, triggers, etc. We believe in Kinktomato here. YKINMKATOK (Your Kink Is Not My Kink (And That’s OK) but you are responsible for advising our readers what to expect.
This event, as always, is open to any and all pairings that involve our favourite murder muffin!
If you’re finding that inspiration isn’t coming to you with just Bucky, we will also allow up to two squares per card to feature a different Sebastian Stan persona (Sebastian himself, Steve Kemp, Max Burnett, etc.)

What is a Connect Four event?
Simple! It’s very similar to a Bingo Event, where you will receive a card with four categories.
What happens if we finish our card?
You can request additional cards! Please only request a new card once you have finished your current card. If you are not happy with the prompts on your card, please request a swap for that square/those squares. You can request one swap per card, up to four squares (yes, you can ask for a whole new card).
If there's a square you don't vibe with, please use our Square Swap Form to begin the process of either requesting up to 2 new squares, or an entirely new card. The email must include your username, card number and the square + prompt you are purging from your card.
Can we use a fill for another event as well (ie. another bingo, etc)?
Absolutely! So long as the other event allows it, we have no rules against cross-posting.
How do I post to the AO3 collection?
Under collections (when posting), type in Connect 4: Into an Alternate June-iverse or Connect4AU
You can also add your work directly from the collection by going to https://archiveofourown.org/collections/Connect4AURound2 and selecting “post to collection” on the top right.

Is there a limit to submissions?

Literally I think people should be free to write about whatever dark or gross topics they like. Yes, even that one. And that one too. And it's also no matter of mine whether they do it to cope with trauma, or becasue they think it's fascinating to explore darker sides of characters, or just for fun, or whatever. Just let people live, and let them write what they write and ship what they ship.
I know to heed warnings and know which Ao3 tags to filter out to avoid content that makes me uncomfortable (in fact I feel weirded out by literally any explicit sex, no matter how vanilla and how "morally pure", so I just. you know. don't look at fics that are tagged as having explicit nsfw). Highly recommend others do so as well! And I know that if I click on a fic in Ao3 that's tagged with the "choose not to warn" warning, I might find content I am uncomfortable with there and in that case it's on me to recognize thst I am uncomfortable and decide to leave the fic if necessary.
There's people who would consider whump with absolutely no sexual content in it to be gross and morally dubious and something people shouldn't write or read, too. No matter how squicked out or not I personally feel about someone writing fic of abusive, incestuous, or pedophilic character dynamics, I don't think my personal feelings of discomfort are something that I should be using as standard for moral judgement!
Also, let's keep in mind that what one person finds super triggering and uncomfortable might be just what another person needs to handle their trauma or emotions. People are different, their needs and boundaries are different, and we should respect that and try to make room for everyone in fannish spaces, yeah?
But like literally it just boils down to, I write weird gross dark stuff about characters getting terribly hurt. It's literally not my business in the slightest if someone writes weird gross dark stuff about characters being in fucked-up relationships. I probably won't read it, but I think people should be free to write it if they like!
Besides, in fandom you usually get much more warning about a fic's content than with a lot of other fiction. I've been blindsided by rape scenes and varying-levels-of-gross-or-weird sex scenes in books before (some of Guy Gavriel Kay's stuff, Game of Thrones, a lot of other fantasy - and with Neil Gaiman I've just started assuming that if it's not either Good Omens or one of the works aimed at a younger audience, there will be at least one magic sex scene I'll find somewhat disturbing), and still finished and even liked those books. I'm just happy that in fannish spaces we usually tag things so I can see beforehand whether something contains things I might find upsetting, and decide whether I am in the headspace to read it or not.

hey em! Could you please tag your fic posts and use the community labels, especially when the fics contain NSFW with dubious and non-consent? I know you placed the warnings inline to the post itself, but without the tags themselves, muting doesn’t work. I love your writing, your smut is one of the hottest things in the tavtash fandom microcosm, but I am beginning to find it difficult/risky to engage when your tagging and trigger warnings are so sporadic, and I keep getting surprise squicked :/

A few notes.
First of all what you're saying is not true and it's unfair. I have tagged dubcon and noncon pieces I have written, especially in the past months. All original posts are always tagged for noncon. Self-reblogs have not been.
Tbh I just assumed the original tags carry over in blocking for self-reblogs and I'm sorry to learn that they don't, so I will of course tag dubcon and noncon in the self-reblogs going forward. That I can and will easily do. Sorry that this caused you problems!
But you making it sound as if I continuously and carelessly expose my followers to dubcon/noncon or triggers is not fair and not true. I care a great deal about this stuff and I think everyone who followed any conversation I ever had about this here knows that. If there are specific triggers you want me to tag (like, say, eating disorder - which I haven't written but would easily tag, or drug addiction, or similar stuff) please send it and I will make sure to do that.
But. And this might be a dealbreaker for you, which I understand. For kinks beyond dubcon/noncon: I will not include all tags of AO3 on here in the tags. I will keep them in the text. I've mentioned this a few times before. If I tag them I'm going to put myself into tumblr purgatory and I'm risking my blog getting flagged/taken down.
I try to include every single kink (and thus potential squick) very diligently in the description of the fic. I'm not perfect but I try. AO3 is usually better which is why I started screenshotting that.
I cannot protect you from reading single words in the description. I can protect you from reading the fic, which is why I use "Read More" after the first 1-2 paragraphs, so unless you specifically ignore the kink description and then click "more" you don't have to read what's happening.
It is a bit ironic, because I have never seen an artist being asked to tag their explicit art even though that's something you immediately see, while a fic you have to actively start reading.
If you don't want to see my fics here and rather filter them by kinks or squicks on AO3 I would suggest muting #my writing (or I can use a more specific tag like #bearhugs writes for just my fics if you want me to so you can filter me out more easily) so you don't see my fics anymore and you can then browse them to your liking on Ao3.
Completely understand that you need to take care of yourself. That is why I have a big disclaimer in my bio that this is a NSFW blog. As well as a disclaimer very early on in my pinned post that I write non-con, too. If the measures I'm taking are not sufficient for you, I completely understand if you need to unfollow.
However I hope you understand where I'm coming from, too.
Again, self-reblogs I will start tagging, here I was simply naive and that's on me. If you have a very specific kink you need me to tag, feel free to send that too and I can watch out to tag that if I write it.
To summarize:
I am already tagging dubcon/noncon and will start doing that in self-reblogs, too (my bad and ty for making me aware)

Rules
This is an 18+ event regardless of whether or not you are gifting/requesting NSFW content. If the mods discover that a participant has lied about their age, that participant will be removed from the event.
There are no restrictions on who can participate. All skill levels are welcome, all artistic mediums are welcome, and anyone who completes the sign-up form is allowed to participate.
By signing up for this event, you agree to complete a gift for your assigned partner according to the timeline shown below. The mods will not require a specific amount of progress to be made by each deadline; we only request that you show progress on your gift, let us know what your plan is for completing it, and have the gift completed by the final deadline.
A gift is defined as a minimum 2,000 word fic, a completed illustration (inked + colored) in your style, or a fully completed piece by the standards of your chosen medium (animation, podfic, etc) .
If you are unable to fulfill your gift and must drop out, you agree to alert the moderators as early as possible so that pinch hitters can be assigned.
If you say "yes" to being a pinch hitter, you do so with the understanding that this is a volunteer position with the goal of being fair and making sure everyone gets a gift. Being a pinch hitter will not result in you receiving an extra gift.

How does one get into sonic prime, I mean I adore where they're going for the story but I'm still struggling to get through s1 because the voice are just not clicking with me. Don't get me wrong here props to the Canadian VA's and the crew as a whole but the fact that I don't really vibe well with the chaos council as a concept [since they aren't really as menacing as the actual egg but I get what they're going for..... kinda.... ] This is like the one sonic media I can't personally click into, and I honest to God adored Underground/Boom so it's probably just a me-squick....
I have literally been a sonic fan since birth reading the comics so it's just tonal whiplash trying to get used to it- I'm lost in my own confusion that they already produced 3 seasons @_@;;; I just feel like I'm alone in feeling this or something idk I'm just merely screaming into the sonic-fandom wondering if anyone else felt this way hsbshbsshv ////
I'm just as clueless as you on that unfortunately lol. Respectfully I'm not a fan personally, I think the ideas had potential to be interesting if done right but I just don't find the execution appealing. I hate to say it and don't wanna be overly negative but I was honestly bored watching the first eight episodes, they were hard to get through and it was a bit of a letdown for me.
It feels underwhelming and repetitive because practically the same cycle of events happens each episode and it's not very interesting at that. I haven't watched any episodes past those, I watched nothing but the Eggman prismatic titan thing in the last batch and don't plan on watching the rest. I just decided it wasn't for me, not what I'm looking for in a Sonic show.
I'm sad I didn't end up liking it after being interested in where they could take it, especially with how much potential I feel New Yoke City had because it was conceptually right up my alley but execution is just not to my tastes and I've accepted it. I shouldn't be surprised as I'm not into most of the non game media ^^; I was just hoping for a modern show like X again
If they had more regular Eggman they could've changed my opinion a lot not gonna lie because the small 5 mins of him was great. Characterization was good, he was funny, his model and animation were gorgeous, voice was okayyy just needed some improvements, and I was interested in what he would've done with the prism had Sonic not shattered it and erased him from existence. When he practically died my interest went along with it sorry dhfjsbfksbfks
The Chaos Council just don't interest me personally because each are missing all the parts of Eggman combined that make him his lovable whole to me. And when you just want the real deal to still have his place like he seemed he was going to initially in the concept art, only for him to not be there at all, it's hard to get into it when you're thinking about what could've been. Also yeah they're just not menacing and don't bring the same exciting world shattering chaos and action the real deal does
And oh no they're really still only on the first season, eight episodes isn't a season. Netflix is just being weird about how they have it realized in batches and how it separates them but no way is eight episodes a whole season. They only had the first season made and released with huge gaps but maybe they'll order for a second one to be made.
But yeah you're not alone. It's very popular and I'm glad people can enjoy it but yeah it didn't click with me either and I can relate on feeling like the odd one out. But that makes two of us! and I do know others who just don't like it either and I don't think we should feel a pressure to try to get into it, if we don't like it and it's just not for us then it's fine

Age gap: 0 ( -10 — +5)
This is one I’m torn on.
I am a lot more squicked out by characters dating between developmental brackets — a first year college student dating a senior highschool student, a uni lecturer dating a uni student, an immortal character dating a mortal etc — than the age gap itself. That being said, I won’t read fics if one of both of the characters are under 20. Period. Nor will I generally read fics for immortal/mortal ships, because knowing that one of them will eventually be left behind makes me sad, and because of the hyperbolic Mary Sue degree needed to justify how a human mortal would ever attract a centuries-year-old character.
On the other hand — Look, I am a sucker for forbidden love, and if there is a taboo, I wanna poke it with smut fic. And I essentially have a divorced virgin kink, so I’d be lying if the age gap trope didn’t appeal to me — particularly if combined with grumpy/sunshine trope, and if the younger character takes care of the older. Give me your middle-aged hot messes learning to love again!
I think the guiding rule for me is the hypothetical question — if the younger character was the same age as the older, would they still have fallen in love? If yes, then I adore it. If no, then I hate it.
Codependency: +7
speaking as one half of an ADHD couple which only barely makes up one normally functioning adult — codependency is a) inescapable and b) hot.
Obsession/Possessiveness, jealousy: +7
I shouldn’t find this hot. But I do. Sorry. All my ships have a slightly feral possessive element to them. And a touch of jealousy which is only rooted in insecurity (ie, not actual suspicion/blaming/shaming/controlling behaviour) provides great hurt/comfort fodder
Opposites (grumpy/sunshine etc): +10
The grumpy/sunshine dynamic is my catnip — I will never be normal about this. And I love physical contrasts/differences, too.
Enemies to lovers, Enemies with benefits: +7
I love this, but only when done well, and when the enemy-dynamic is grounded in miscommunication/different personalities clashing/different coping mechanisms. It shouldn’t be actual hate-fucking, or negging/bullying escalating to sex.
Friends with benefits: -8
I’m an irredeemable romantic when it comes to fic reading, so unless there is an eventual romantic relationship in sight, I’m not interested.
Sex to feelings: +9
Pining-while-fucking is a gold star trope. I am particularly fond of the ”Grumpy cynical slut corrupted by romantic and reduced to a flustered blushing hot mess” trope. (TMI — This is how I got together with my partner. I am the grumpy slut.)

I don't have any squicks or triggers, what trope a fic is doesn't have any baring on whether I click on a fic or not. I love tropes, gimme ALL the tropes--I will honestly read any weird, gross, out there, wtf trope you can come up with (you name it, I've probably read it). And all the ones listed above, aside from the poly/open relationship are ones that I love love reading.
What will determine whether I continue reading a fic, my enjoyment of it, if I can finish it solely depends on how well it's written. I'm not saying it has to be a literary masterpiece--but I am saying if it's bad I probably won't read it. I also have a hard time reading a fic if it hasn't been formatted properly - single space paragraphs, no dialogue breaks, huge paragraphs etc. So if it's not written well enough to override the formatting then I probably won't read that either.

The few patches of fine, light blue scales caught a temporary greenish hue as the honey spread over the expanse of the man's skin, into the crevices of his muscles, down his sides, following the sharp contours of his hips and V-line.
Wei Wuxian watched in absolute fascination as his beloved's skin tinted gold, pupils blown wide with desire. He'd always liked honey, a staple of his fox-like dietary preferences - but dripping off Lan Wangji's body, it somehow looked more appetizing than ever, hunger and arousal intermixing in the tight feeling that settled in his groin.
Lan Wangji watched him with the same fascination, honeyed pupils slitted as they traveled over the generous expanse of skin Wei Wuxian had decided to show, even with the sorry excuse of a covering he wore. It was light red, lace and see-through, only slightly darker than his red cheeks, a beautiful match to his fox ears and the tail that kept so temptingly caressing every part of Lan Wangji it could reach - from his legs, to his thighs, and stubbornly avoiding the one place that Lan Wangji wanted so desperately touched.
Alas, he had to control himself - he was a man of his word, and, as much as he didn't like to admit it, he had lost the bet he and Wei Ying had set up, and would be receiving his punishment accordingly. And very willingly.
Truth be told, Lan Wangji hadn't exactly set out confident he would win. Even though his senses are knife-sharp, and his dragon form allows him incredible speed of movement and mobility, he had been a bit foolish to believe he could win the chase against his foxy partner. After all, forests are to foxes what the clouds are to dragons.
Still, the chase had been. admittedly, very fun, and it stirred up something primal in both of its participants. Wei Wuxian's nimble, elegant, quick movements, the thrill of hunting him down and the promise of what would come if Lan Wangji caught him - all had his body swimming in adrenaline and an intoxicating mix of pheromones. And judging by the sweet, mind-altering scent that he could feel emanating from Wei Wuxian, he knew he wasn't the only one.
After all, it had all been his idea - to be chased down like prey into the thick forest surrounding the Cloud Recesses and fucked roughly against every surface if he got caught, until he cried for mercy or passed out. So much for that - Lan Wangji bitterly thought to himself, though admittedly he could always ask for a do-over.
"You seem lost in thought, Hanguang-Jun." Wei Wuxians silky voice comes, eyes half lidded as he places the now empty honey pot aside. "Am I boring you?"
"Yes."
He clicked his tongue, lightly whipping Lan Wangji's leg with his tail, the fur soft. "Ungrateful. This is supposed to be for me, yet I feel like you're going to enjoy it more than I will."
Lan Wangji's arms twitched with the impulse to touch, useless against his tight, unforgiving restraints. Wei Wuxian had done amazing work binding his arms together and to the metal headboard of the bed, seven rows of knots biting into his skin. The red rope scratched against him tantalizingly, a quiet warning not to move - and Lan Wangji could finally understand why Wei Wuxian liked to be tied up so much.
"Look at me, won't you? I think you'll enjoy the show~"
Wei Wuxian's hair curtained him, long and dark, as he leaned down and licked a slow stripe over Lan Wangji's abs, eyes locked with his as he let out a pleased hum at the taste of the honey that had gathered there.
A surprised breath left Lan Wangji at the sensation, his nerves coming alive with it.
"Honey tastes even sweeter off you, Lan Zhan." And his tongue swiped lower, nearing the flat plane of skin above Lan Wangji's very obvious need.
"Wei Ying."
He could practically taste the smirk in Wei Ying's voice. "It's forbidden to talk while eating, let me savor you now."
Lan Wangji growls, the sound half animalistic, but it ends in a shaky moan when he feels Wei Ying's hands slide over his skin, the smooth glide of his fingers through the honey raising goosebumps on Lan Wangji's skin - all the while the delicious roughness of Wei Ying's tongue cleans up the honey on his lower body. God, if only Wei Ying would go lower-
His fingers move over Lan Wangji's nipples, teasing the sensitive buds until they raise, hard and wanting, and without warning, slid up just enough to take one in his mouth. Lan Wangji's back arched off the bed, rope biting into his skin as he did, a pitiful sound escaping him.
Wei Wuxian laughed, sultry and teasing, as he let the very tips of his fangs graze over Lan Wangji's right nipple before moving on to the same to his left, reveling into the sweet taste and his lover's even sweeter reactions. He continued his journey upwards, kissing a trail of honeyed kisses onto Lan Wangji's neck and giving himself the freedom to sink his teeth over his jugular, just enough to draw the right amount of blood to bruise.
"You're mine now, Hanguang-Jun." he all but purred in Lan Wangji's ear. "And I'm going to very thoroughly take advantage of you."
Before Lan Wangji could even think to protest, he felt Wei Wuxian's hand slide over the side of his face, fingers coming to brush against the two horns protruding from his forehead.
"Wei Ying, no-!"
Wei Wuxian let the very tips of his claws scratch over the hard texture of one the horns. "No?"
Lan Wangji thrashed his head away, the sensation overwhelming. "No, don't-"
"You always like pulling on my tail, biting my ears... yet I can't even touch these? How unfair of you, Hanguang-Jun." Wei Wuxian teasingly chided, no intention of stopping as his caresses became more intentional, moving over the bumps and branch-like structures of Lan Wangji's dragon horns.
He writhed at the feeling, and Wei Wuxian found him equal parts adorable as he did irresistible - so, while he left one hand to play there, he slid the other down, where Lan Wangji's cock throbs with need.
"Say, Hanguang-Jun, will you forgive me for this if I make you cum now?"
"No!"
"Tsk, pretentious." Still, he let his hand move over Lan Wangji's length, admiring the weight and size of it. "Then I'm done being nice too."

"What're going to do to me, mighty Hanguang-Jun?" Wei Wuxian asks as he wraps his legs around Lan Wangji's. "Should I scream for help yet?"
"You will."
Wei Wuxian nearly screamed when he felt frostbite on his chest, Lan Wangji's cold breath raising goosebumps and unforgiving shivers from his body. The difference in temperature had his body tingle.
"No, Lan Zhan-"
"No?" Lan Wangji parroted his earlier tone. "A shame."
He leaned to kiss and lick into Wei Wuxian's mouth, his breath icy, careless of Wei Wuxian's gasps and protests about it. He moved, unrelenting, down his neck - where he let his fangs bite in, mirroring the mark Wei Wuxian left on him - biting his nipples, and licking hot and cold down Wei Wuxian's body. Red lines left in his wake, the texture of his tongue and the cold of his breath marking his beloved.
He wanted to be a bit evil, and so he very lightly blew a two of his coldest breaths over Wei Wuxian's cock, all too happy with the startled, screaming moans that followed.

After browsing through 2 and 3 year old reddit posts, I can definitely understand why some people ended up feeling betrayed by RE:H. Even though I had the complete opposite experience. I distinctly remember seeing "anti-dating sim" on the itchio page back in 2019, but I guess they didn't keep that to the very end?
It's certainly a depressing game, but browsing all those comments really just makes me appreciate that this game exists even more
(Spoilers ahead)
I can certainly relate to Dov's feelings of frustration at dating sims, the standard of a "happy ending reward" and fluffy sex/romance, all that
I played it when it first came out (and holy shit, it really has been 3 years), and at that point, I hadn't yet accepted my asexuality, let alone aromanticism.
I guess, my point is, the sex and romance in the game really hit a part of me that took a few more years to decipher. I flirted with all the characters in the "standard" way and I honestly dreaded the "relationship end" that would inevitably come. But I was prepared to bear it for vampires and pretty art. And honestly, because I'm used to it. No matter how much you try, you can't escape sex and romance. The best case scenario is finding a few friends that will shut up about it around you
And it is what it is, you know? People find joy in sex and romance and they're not wrong for it. Conflicting needs and all that
...And then, that "relationship end" never came.
I've been replaying the game, currently on Markus' route, which is what sparked all of this.
And Markus... oh, Markus. I did the flirting, I said I wanted to have sex. Some of it was curiosity, I wanted to see ALL the text. And some of it was going along with what I was used to. You flirted, now have sex. This is your own doing.
Now, I'm not much into noncon. On a good day, I simply don't think about it, on a bad day it squicks the hell out of me. Which is a problem when I want to vent out my sex repulsion and read some straight up Bad Sex, and the only Bad Sex I can find is noncon. (I can write my own, but sometimes you just want to relate to a character, you know?)
And then Markus' scene came along, and it was the first time I'd seen some downright uncomfortable consensual sex. He asks if you want to have sex. You say yes. It's on his own terms and he says he will be "doing the impaling". You have sex. It's not good sex.
And with Markus, with honestly the entirety of RE:H, it was the first time that Sex And Romance Conclusion felt... good. It was the first time that reading sex and romance didn't feel like a punishment for my curiosity. "I started this, now I have to see how it ends. Ah fuck, the characters fell in love and now they're having sex. If only I wasn't playing a dating sim. Oh well, it's too late to turn back now"
Which, I admit, is an... odd mindset, given that I could just not play dating sims. But I like clicking the spacebar button and looking at pretty pictures!
I am half joking, I did spend a good chunk of my life reading and playing romance in hopes that, one day, if i did it long enough, I would just get over my repulsion and "be normal"
I've seen people say that the RE:H sex and relationships felt like a punishment. I think that was Dov's original plan, if I remember correctly?
But for me, it was the first time I actually felt rewarded for bearing the flirting. The happy Relationship And Sex reward was never rewarding to me, because honestly, I don't get why anyone would like that in the first place. Why would you ever want something that makes you feel gross and uncomfortable, you know? (I am aware that people in this world do like sex, but I just cannot relate)
So when I got uncomfortable and downright bad sex, I finally felt rewarded with relatability. "Yes! This is what sex is! This is what flirting and relationships feel like!"
This is what sex and relationships have always been to me. Repulsive and uncomfortable and, worst of all, unavoidable. Yes, sure, in real life, you can simply not have sex, you can stay single. But let's be real here, it's unavoidable when you like vampire fiction and action movies. And I could never relate to the fluffy ace characters that just... don't have sex.
I don't have a problem with people feeling betrayed and disliking the game, we all have different tastes. But, for me, at a point in my life where I hadn't accepted myself, at a time in my life where I was trying to "fix myself", RE:H was the first time I could have my cake and eat it too
I'm getting quite emotional. RE:H wasn't my saving grace. It wasn't everything and it still took years for me to get comfortable with myself. But, perhaps, call it a helping hand. A step on the ladder out of my own self-inflicted hell.
Though RE:H is bleak and depressing, and I can't risk playing it when I haven't had enough sleep, it truly means a lot to me and it will always have a place in my heart

Age Gap: -7 I'm not into it really. Sometimes it's okay, but I read a few with this tag that read like the older character was grooming the younger character, and that squicked me out.
Codependency: 0 i don't really care about it? Like it can be a really interesting relationship dynamic, but the tag itself won't necessarily make me click or not click.
Enemies to lovers: 5 I'll click it, but depending on the kinds of enemies. Like school rivals doesn't do it for me but if they both run cafes across the street from each other, I'm into it. Idk. It's very dependent on the other tags.
Enemies With Benefits: -5 i'm really not much of a smut person, honestly, and when I am, I need there to be just a disgusting amount of love and trust between them, so enemies with benefits probably isn't for me, unless there's an enemies to lovers tag involved and the rest of the tags are enticing.
Fake Dating/Relationship: 8 i love this trope, especially if pining and angst are also tagged. Delicious.
Found Family: 0 I tend to read more ship-based fics, so it doesn't really do it for me unless it's in the context of those ships. However, in the context of those ships, it can be *chef's kiss*
Friends To Lovers: 9 right up there with fake dating. I love when two or more characters who have all this love and trust between them already build on that beautiful foundation and come together. The one exception for some reason is I don't like childhood best friends to lovers for some reason? Idk why.
Friends With Benefits: 0 Again, not much of a smut person, but at least with friends there's usually the trust and love there for me to enjoy.
Hurt/Comfort: 5 Depends on the kind of hurt, depends on who's giving the comfort, depends on whether certain other tags that I hate are also tagged.
Love Triangle: -10 I hate it as a trope, it bores me, and it usually reduces the two option characters down to a couple of stereotypical qualities and the character who has to choose is just stringing both of them along making me dislike them more and more with each passing moment.
Mistaken/Hidden Identity: -5 for hidden identity: I don't like lies and deceit. I like trust and honesty.
Monster Fu… Relationship: -5 again, smut isn't really for me. Depends on if the other tags hint at actual relationship or not.

A/B/O for the ask game? 😭 Personally i wouldn't touch the stuff with a ten foot pole (not that im judging anyone who might like it dgkkgfd)

I don't seek it out and rarely, rarely click it. The original a/b/o universe of heats and what basically constitutes as non-con being "natural" and "normal" squicks the fuck outta me. I'm squicked in the same way for "slavery is natural and a normal part of society" fics. I know that the authors (very very very very likely) don't agree with the protagonists in these stories, but I cannot empathize with the characters living peacefully in such societies and so I just can't get into the story. And because it's a huge societal issue rather than the one character being messed up, there's no backdrop of decency and morality to fall back onto, leaving the whole world as an icky squicky no-no that I don't want to read.
Also, I really hated how women were usually written as non-existent in these stories and how this was not pointed out by the writing community in the past. :|
However, in the decade plus that the trope's existed, a lot of folks have made a lot of their own interpretations of it and deconstructing of it and making it more interesting (and less women-erasing), which is why it's a D- rather than an F. Some fics squeak through my filter. It's never going to be a favorite, but I'll click on the link if it's:
Starring my favorite character, obviously.
A fish out of water type story where the protagonist finds the classic (or close enough to the classic) a/b/o world just as horrifying as the majority of folks would find it in reality, or
A heavily modified a/b/o world where sex isn't the main driver of the story. Part of my exasperation with a/b/o is the focus on sex, mating, and breeding, so if the focus is on, say, improving civil rights, or it's just another aspect of modern Western society where terrible people may judge you for your gender (like those may do about sex, gender, or race in the real world), but it isn't the *main focus* of the story, I'll give it a go. Just like I give long, plot-focused narratives that happen to have romance as a side-plot a go.
I have two fics in the MCU that I can recall that were A/B/O that I enjoyed, one for each reason listed above.
Most of the sex scenes in fics are a big "whatever" to me already and I have exactly one (1) author out of the thousands of authors (I've read a lot) I've read over the years where the sex scenes were engaging because that author was basically a poet who remains still one of the most technically apt writers I've ever encountered in fan fiction. I don't remember her because the fic's plot was my favorite plot ever, or because the pairing appealed to me; I remember her because she is fucking masterful at the technical aspects of writing with one of the strongest vocabularies I've ever read in fan fiction. I aspire to be at her level of writing one day. It was difficult reading, it was like poetry, and that seems to be the only way to get me to be interested in a sex scene. If you make me pull out a dictionary in a sex scene, you win my interest. I want SAT level vocabulary about emotions and feelings ahahaha.
So yeah, a/b/o's focus on sex makes it generally unappealing from the get-go.
But wait Laer, you say, you can't just mention a handful of fics and not link them! So yeah, I dug them up. They're not personal favorites--a/b/o never will be for me--but they're well crafted stories written by talented writers.
The "Stephen gets trapped in an A/B/O world and you bet he hates the fuck out of it" one, with the rare pair of *Sam Wilson* and also Christine, which was just fantastic, and it's a whodunnit on top of it with a mix of magic: Children of the Old Moon by old_blue. Take a look at the tags before reading; it's a doozy, but again, very well-crafted.
The "A/B/O is just a passing mention and it's barely been mentioned which is super great (at least to my memory)" is actually not finished; it's a short story with super long chapters. Going In Circles by cryptonomicon features two rarepairs in Stephen/Steve Rogers and Stephen/Bucky, and it's actually a sequel so you should read the first part first, perhaps. It was last updated about 21 months ago, so if you decide to read and review, be encouraging rather than demanding, haha! I don't remember a major cliff-hanger or anything, but if you're looking for different, this is definitely different. Again, good writer.
As for the "only author who made me admire the craft of writing in a sex scene", that would be Francesca_Wayland, a BBC Sherlock writer, specifically with the first fic on her account. I don't often have to pull up a dictionary when I read anymore and it was one thing that I really enjoyed doing in the mid 2000s (because I'm a nerd), so encountering her back in 2017 or 2018 was a delight. Why yes, I am absolutely not the target audience for 99.9% of mature romance stories :P

🐇 ⇢ do you prefer writing original characters, reader inserts, or a mix of both?
I think I'm more comfortable coming up with an OC out of nowhere for a sake of the scene. In this way the control is still mine how I make them interact with canon characters without the invisible outside pressure. They are mine alone.
I think xreader has certain rules and customs, which includes make them as relatable as possible because how else a reader could immerse in them? They have to be everybody and no-one at the same time. If you give the readers personality, why don't you make it an OC to the begin with? Now an OC is still a fictional character. But in these stories the reader is in focus, and the readers are REAL PEOPLE. It's too much pressure and stress due to all that fandom fuckery and purity culture out there.
But I actually never tried writing xreader fics, maybe I should try it for the sake of experimenting (and for quick serotonin intake). One day. Not now. xD

I'm not saying I haven't read some really good ones when joining the tcw fandom, but because of these DNI-fuckeries, i don't bother read them at all anymore. So unless you are my friend and close mutual we interact on each other's creative works on regular basis, I probably won't read it.
Aside from that, I don't think I have specific squicks. I read the tags and warnings, so I don't spend time with media I don't like.

i'm a new whump writer, and i wanted to ask for some advice if that's alright!
what things should i trigger warn, and how do i make injuries/panic attacks/etc. realistic? also where do you get your ideas from?

OOOOO!!! exciting!! welcome to the whump community, angel!! of course, i'll give some advice!! i'm not sure how qualified i am, but i'll share what i do.
i typically try to tw anything that could possibly cause someone distress. of course, there are the obvious ones like death, assault, abuse, etc. but i also make sure to trigger warn things that pertain to mental health (depression, anxiety, ptsd) medical trauma (hospitals, surgery, things like that), anything violent or injuries, and things from the body that could squick people out (blood, vomit). i think if it's not really that present (like if you only mention the world blood once or something) you wouldn't have to tag it, but make sure to tag anything that's major so no one is taken by surprise!! when in doubt, trigger it!
to make things like that realistic (if you've never experienced them personally) doing research on it really helps! knowing a basis of what exactly happens when a certain injury occurs and what things will look like for the whumpee really helps with the flow of writing!! you don't have to be too medically inclined, of course, but having a quick read of an article might help the fic become more engaging and accurate.
i get my ideas from a plethora of things!! sometimes i draw from personal experiences (like my sa, the time i fainted bc i was overworked and not really eating, my mental health, dealing with grief), or just whumpy situations i particularly enjoy (i'm not sure if enjoy is the right word to use, but y'all know what i mean!!) there are also a lot of whump challenges throughout the year like febuwhump, june of doom, whumptober that have long lists of prompts if you need inspiration. consuming other whumpy content of any kind helps with inspo too, but just make sure not to plagiarize!!!

If you're still taking these, I'd be interested in your thoughts on a/b/o! (personally, i always thought it was a reflection of most fanfic being written by women who date men at least some of the time, ie writers whose own intimate relationships involve gender-based hierarchies, and who found a way to reintroduce that element into same-gender relationships in order to explore it in slash fiction. But I'd be curious to know what you think about it!)
At first I found it off-putting and uncomfortable—and sometimes still do, depending on how the author chooses to play it—but after enough years of exposure therapy, I've become inured to it, and it's basically value-neutral to me these days. When I'm cruising for fic and something looks interesting, seeing that it's tagged A/B/O isn't going to affect whether I click on it or not.
I enjoy it as a vehicle for porn, because heat/rut/hormones/etc lets authors ramp up the intensity of how scorchingly horny the blorbos are for each other, with a truly gratuitous number of orgasms involved. (As an aside, I prefer it when omegas are intersex, so that writers can hand-wave the trickier/less hygienic aspects of butt-sex. And so I'm not forced to imagine butt-birth. 😖)
But I've read very few fics that actually put interesting ideas into the worldbuilding, and thinking about the broader effects that omegaverse dynamics would have on society, because seriously, that would change everything. Instead, it frequently just gets overlaid atop stories that... have no reason to be omegaverse stories? Again, not like fanfic needs to justify itself beyond “I wanted to,” but I'll admit, I don't really understand why this concept has such lasting and widespread appeal.
As you say, I've read meta theorizing that it allows (predominantly female) fanfic writers to explore gender dynamics and gendered expectations in a way that doesn't hit quite so close to home—that it's easier and more enjoyable to explore those themes at a remove, in a fictional scenario that can be informed by their own experiences, but doesn't have to be constrained by reality.
Maybe that's true, or true for some people—I am not qualified to say. Or maybe it's as fruitless as trying to theorize why some people are into kink, when the answer is just “some people are,” and there's not much rhyme or reason to it. ¯\_(ツ)_/��
Personally, what turns me off about A/B/O fic is extreme feminization of the omega character. That is 1) decidedly not my kink (I'm getting flashbacks to the heteronormativity of early-aughts yaoi; google 'yaoi hands' if you want to traumatize yourself), and 2) on a narrative level it makes me go, Why didn't you just write genderswap fic? o_O When the anatomy, the clothes, the demeanor, the social expectations are not genderqueer, but all unambiguously female, and the only nod to it being omegaverse is male pronouns... why? In those cases, the A/B/O elements are doing nothing but making me viscerally uncomfortable.
(And mpreg is soooo beyond not-my-kink. 😬)
That said, there is no moral component to my discomfort—a philosophy that modern fandom could stand to reacquaint itself with, along with the term “squick.”
I, personally, find male characters being feminized* off-putting and uncomfortable—I am squicked out by it, if you will—but that isn't any sort of objective judgment on the trope itself, that's a me-thing. You don't have to come up with excuses for why Trope X is immoral and gross and problematic in order to justify not enjoying it. People just like different things.

OMEGAVERSE FICS WOT GREMBLE ENJOYED, and don't @ me if they include things I just said I'm not into.
The Ties that Bind, by Odsbodkins – Captain America: Winter Soldier, Steve/Bucky. The fact that I still remember this fic, even though I'm well out of this fandom, should tell you something. The author does possibly the best job I've read of exploring the wider context of A/B/O dynamics, and how that plays out in social norms and pop culture.
Intent, by tnico – The Witcher, Lambert/Aiden. Have you ever heard of an omegaverse fic in which one of the leads was a beta? Now you have, and you're welcome, because tnico writes the best Lambert in the whole damn fandom.
(Now back to your regularly scheduled Geralt/Jaskier recs -- and there are plenty more that I enjoyed, I just have a memory like a sieve. Feel free to rec more in the comments!)

And an actual books rec: the Wraeththu series, by Storm Constantine. It's not exactly omegaverse, but it hits the same genderbending buttons—humanity is being supplanted by a race of hermaphroditic humans who are all gorgeously androgynous and very queer with each other. Dark fantasy, similar vibes to Anne Rice and Tanith Lee, with moody gothic opulence and rarefied homoeroticism. The first in the series is Enchantments of Flesh and Spirit, and I despise the protagonist in that book, I want to slam his head in a car door, but fortunately all the subsequent books are centered on other people.
* This is completely unrelated to trans AUs or trans headcanons for a character, those don't bother me. Trans women are women, and so it is just and proper for them to wear women's clothing, but putting male characters in corsets or lingerie or whatnot is going to have me pretty much instantly back-buttoning out of a fic. Which, it occurs to me, makes me kind of a raging hypocrite, because I'm fine with cross-dressing when I do it.
