But Rhys took Feyre's choice away in ACOSF and is as bad as Tamlin
Disclaimer - I am going to state up front SJM shouldn't have told this story through Nesta's POV. It is an incredibly complex storyline in it's own right and deserved to be told through Feyre's POV.
However, fans tend to make several claims about the story that I want to either debunk or combat. You can still hate the storyline (I hate how it was told as well) but twisting canon to suit your own narrative isn’t right.
(I am using this timeline for the series, which is the most in-depth timeline I have ever found.)
Let's begin
What actually happened in canon:
Rhys and Feyre were actively attempting to have a baby since the end of ACOFAS (December 21st). Feyre announces her pregnancy to the group 16 days into the start of ACOSF. She says she is "two months along". ACOSF is canonically 10 months after ACOFAS. Meaning Feyre and Rhys conceive Nyx in August.
31 days into ACOSF Rhys and Feyre find out via Madja Nyx has wings. Feyre would be heading into her second trimester. Rhys knows the baby wings pose a problem (as does Madja). Madja informed Feyre the birth would be "more difficult" but does not state the baby will kill her. Rhys sets out on finding a way to save Feyre and the baby.
33 days into ACOSF Rhys goes to Drakon and Miryam to ask about the wings. They give him nothing but sad looks.
40 days into ACOSF Helion visits and is asked by Rhys about the wings and says he will look into it.
43 days into ACOSF Nesta, in a fit of rage, tells Feyre her baby is going to die and kill her.
So canonically Feyre does not know for 12 days. So, around two weeks, Feyre is unaware the chances she will die in labor are incredibly heightened.
That is really important, it is not months they are keeping this from Feyre. It also doesn't seem likely Rhys or any of the IC would have let Feyre give birth without knowing what was happening. It also seems likely Rhys was pending more information from Helion who had 3 days to look into things before Nesta had her outburst.
While again it's not explicitly said I believe SJMs implication is that Rhys was exhausting all efforts prior to telling Feyre. Which is something Feyre would have done herself, since we know she wanted Nyx, and rather then let Feyre's pregnancy be ruined by fear (especially if an answer was out there) Rhys decides to take the burden on himself.
Is it necessarily right? I don't think so, but is it done to specifically control Feyre? (Like Tamlin's actions were) No. It's done because Rhys cannot bring himself to take Feyre's happiness away from her. Feyre is described as being so happy in ACOSF, she finally has everything she's ever wanted. She has her mate, her family, her home, security, and is awaiting the arrival of her baby. Feyre has her gotten her "happy ending" and who would want to take that from someone? This is something Rhys was struggling with in ACOFAS, the idea that he does not deserve to be happy with Feyre.
I hate that we get it told through Nesta and Cassian's POV, because honestly this would have been a good Feysand plotline and would have dealt with the remaining issues that were hinted at in ACOFAS.
Commonly incorrect statements by the fandom
"Rhysand forced Feyre to stay pregnant because he valued the baby's life over hers" -
This is canonically not true. Feyre is the one who wanted to get pregnant. Ignoring this is missing the point entirely, Feyre wanted to start her family.
Second, while Rhys clearly loves Nyx it seems his concern was for her and not for Nyx:
Cassian squeezed Rhys’s shoulder. “Why won’t you tell her?” Rhys’s throat worked. “Because I can’t bring myself to give her that fear. To take away one bit of the joy in her eyes every time she puts a hand on her belly.” His voice shook. “It is fucking eating me alive, this terror. I keep myself busy, but … there is no one to bargain with for her life, no amount of wealth to buy it, nothing that I can do to save her.”
His concern is for Feyre and the fact that she is going to die while in labor. He doesn't even mention Nyx dying, and it's said Nyx will die in the labor as well.
"Rhys prevented Feyre from getting an abortion" -
So first we need to ask ourself, are abortions a thing in Pyrthian? We don't get any mentions of them and fae children are rare. I would suspect in Pyrthian they aren't a thing, but maybe in the human lands.
Second, by the time Rhys and Feyre find out about the wings it's been 31 days into ACOSF and when the baby was announced she was two months pregnant, which is frustrating because we don't know if she means two months on the dot or two months and a few days. It's then 15 more days till the wings are discovered she is anywhere between 11/12 weeks pregnant.
It's important to remember pregnancies are not defined by months, they are defined by weeks. If you are 11/12 weeks pregnant the abortion you get is more complicated then at 8 or 9 weeks. So it seems even if she could have an abortion (if that's a thing in Prythian) that she would have had to pass the fetal tissue.
Remember the problem isn't that the baby is sick or causing Feyre to be sick. Feyre is described as being healthy and radiant all throughout ACOSF. The pregnancy isn't the issue, it's the birth. The wings will supposably get caught and not be able to pass through the birthing canal. So even if she had an abortion those wings are getting caught and preventing the tissue from passing. We later see the size of the wings don't matter, because Feyre gives birth preterm and it still kills her.
And it will be challenging enough during a birth when the baby is alive but if they preform an abortion you're talking dead tissue being stuck in Feyre as they attempt to pull it out of her piece by piece.
That could kill her as well.
So when Rhys says "nothing I can do to save her life" he means it. As long as Feyre gives birth/passes those wings in her fae body she's dead.
The only in universe solution is for Feyre to transform back into an Illyrian form (I'll get into that later). That's it, nothing else could save her and in fact what happens is Nesta bargains for Feyre's life and then permanently changes her body to be Illyrian. So the solution was to shapeshift.
"Nesta told Feyre because she thought it was wrong"
That's not true, in fact Nesta agreed to say nothing and was later sorry for even telling Feyre. So no she did not tell Feyre because she thought it was an injustice.
Nesta was bitter and hurt by other things that happened (I am not going into it) and decided to hurt her sister back. She told her in the most brutal and awful way possible.
She easily could have caused Feyre to go into preterm labor and didn't care if that happened. If Feyre had gone into preterm labor with no solution to get the baby out then she would have died.
"Feyre's choice was taken from her"
So if we rule out abortion, and go with shapeshifting I don't see how anyone concludes that the 12 days Feyre does not know takes that choice from her. Even for the 12 days with the abortion idea, she still could have done it. She makes a choice not to, Feyre does not go into labor unaware of the risks.
Going back to shapeshifting, Rhys says this:
“So let her change back into an Illyrian to bear the babe.” Rhys’s face was stark. “Madja has put a ban on any more shape-shifting. She says that to alter Feyre’s body in any way right now could put the baby at risk. On the chance that it could be bad for the baby, Feyre is forbidden to so much as change the color of her hair until after the birth.”
So originally it's Madja who says shape-shifting is banned but sorry I do not see how Madja is going to control Feyre. During the announcement scene we get this from Feyre:
Nesta angled her head at her sister. “So you can’t do magic while pregnant?” Feyre winced. “I can, but given my unusual set of gifts, I’m not sure how it might impact the baby. Winnowing is fine, but some other powers, when we’re still so early in the pregnancy, could strain my body dangerously.”
Feyre is given the medical opinion of Madja on her doing magic and chooses to follow it.
And the nail in the coffin that it wasn't Feyre's choice is the birth scene itself:
“There is nothing we can do,” Madja said. “Cutting the babe out of her will kill her.” “Cutting it out?” Nesta demanded, earning a sharp glare from Rhys. Madja ignored her tone. “An incision along her abdomen, even one carefully made, is an enormous risk. It’s never been successful. And even with Feyre’s healing abilities, the blood loss has weakened her—” “Do it,” Feyre managed to say, the words weighted with pain. “Feyre,” Rhys objected. “The babe likely won’t survive,” Madja said, voice gentle but no-nonsense. “It’s too small yet. We risk both of you.” “All of you,” Cassian breathed, eyes on Rhys. “Do it,” Feyre said, and her voice was that of the High Lady. No fear. Only determination for the life of the babe within her. Feyre looked up at Rhys. “We have to.”
While it isn't explicitly mentioned, the scene prior is discussions about saving Nyx not about saving Feyre. Madja says "we risk both of you" implying their is a way to just save Feyre. That way would be shapeshifting, something Feyre is refusing to do in this moment. Rhys is the one who is objecting to the c-section and Feyre insists that "We have to". Feyre chooses to have the c-section and attempt to save her son.
Conclusion:
I don't think we can conclude Feyre's choice was taken from her, in fact it seems she made a choice not to shapeshift and save herself. That might feel like pro life propaganda and maybe it is (I don't know SJMs stance on this) but a mother choosing to go through with a risky pregnancy and delivery is still her making that choice. Just because it's not the choice you would make or like, doesn't make it any less of a choice.
It's really odd how people twist this storyline to fit a narrative of "Rhys is just as bad as Tamlin" and while I can understand the similarities, (both being born out of fear and trauma) it just isn't the same. Tamlin watched as Feyre became sicker and sicker, and ignored her. Tamlin forced Feyre back to the Spring Court after she told him she didn't want to be taken from Rhys and the IC. Tamlin slut shamed her during the HL meeting. Tamlin was actively attempting to control Feyre's behavior and get her to fit what he wanted for her.
Rhys found out horrible information (on top of all the other shit that was going on in ACOSF) about the life of his mate and child. His mate who was currently overjoyed at the idea of being pregnant and having a baby. And he wanted to find a way to save her before giving her the fear, anxiety, and distress he was suffering. It wasn't about controlling her, and it wasn't about having some super baby. It wasn't the right thing to do but he didn't do it out wanting to control Feyre. That's important information and something that shouldn't be twisted.
You can dislike it (as I've stated I hate it being told in Nessian POV) but you shouldn't twist things to fit your narrative.

He Likes Weddings - reader x Ross Macdonald oneshot
A/N: Here's some ridiculously sweet fluff for the broken Tumblr user's soul.
word count: 1.8k
♫ Kiss Me - Sixpence None The Richer
You're outside of the wedding venue standing on a bench. Your phone speaker is at full volume, and you're barely coping with the bad signal and the heat of the countryside.
"What do you mean you're not coming?" you sigh into the mic.
As a stream of apologies pours down the line, you spot a tall figure out of the corner of your eye.
He's dressed in a dark navy suit with his long dark hair tied up. He's doing a bad job of pretending he's not eavesdropping, eyeing you behind cigarette smoke. Despite his tough exterior and obvious nosiness, you figure it's difficult to be intimidated by a man with small, white flowers poking out of his jacket pocket.
"I don't care if something came up at work, this is the wedding of YOUR friends-- I DON'T KNOW ANYONE HERE!!"
You feel like those little, rich girls in Christmas movies who just want their dads to come home. But in this case, it's mid-July, home is the middle of nowhere, and dad is your disappointing, workaholic best friend.
"You know what, I'm just gonna go home if you won't--"
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
She hung up. Great.
As you lower your phone, you turn to face the audience of your little altercation, smoke escaping him as he laughs. It strikes you at that very moment how ridiculous you look, sweaty and flushed in your silk summer dress, standing on a memorial bench before a wedding.
He disposes of his cigarette as he approaches you. You get a clearer look at him and the situation - his pristine three-piece suit despite the weather, the pocket flowers, and what you assume to be a celebratory smoke before tying the knot. Fuck.
"Won't you stay?" he asks playfully offended, squinting as you foreground the blinding sun. He lends you a gentlemanly hand to help you off of the bench.
"NO! No, I am staying-- for sure!" you assure this man whom you've never met before in your life, hobbling off of the bench. "I mean, of course I'd stay for your wedding!"
"Sorry?"
"Congratulations! You must be so excited! Great weather too," you gulp.
His eyes widen in realisation, he cracks a slight smirk.
"Oh, darling, I'm not the groom"
You cock your head in confusion, eyes raking up and down his person, particularly the flower-pocket region.
"I'm not a groomsman either... I just really like weddings."
Now you're even more confused, but also pleasantly surprised.
"Well, in that case, I'll be going," you finally say, scooping your purse up from the bench, ready to walk back the way you came.
"You should stay," he exclaims after you.
"I don't know any of these people"
"You know me."
Oh.
He revels in the silence of your surprise. His eyes are like a child's, so persuasive and mischievous.
"And you are?"
"Ross," he extends his hand to shake yours, the same hand that helped you just a second ago, "I don't have a plus-one either."
Suddenly, the idea of this bearded, long-haired adult man getting ready for a wedding on his own flashes in your mind. Him excitedly putting on his suit and fixing his tiny pocket of flowers in the mirror. What a peculiar man. But you can't help smiling to yourself at the thought.
You hear the orchestra start up and people making their way to their seats from inside. You see bridesmaids and groomsmen assembling a few paces away.
He offers you an arm to loop yours into. Whilst you've rolled your eyes a record amount of times in your first few minutes of knowing this man, you accept his arm and walk into the venue.
---
You settled down next to him in one of the rows nearer to the back. Inside, it's beyond elaborate with flowers draped over every surface area conceivable to the human eye.
You glance over at him and he is so pure, so happy to be there. He is practically overflowing with excitement. The plan to go back home had escaped from your memory completely.
"You see that lady," he whispers to you, pointing at an older woman in a ridiculous bright yellow dress and hat combo, "that's the groom's overbearing aunt. All these flowers were her idea."
You give him a surprised, amused look, smiling at his knowledge. He winks at you.
"Ooh, and this one," he points to a man slumped over in the pews, definitely hungover, "that's the bride's ex."
"No way?!"
"Yes way!"
As more and more people file in, you gasp "oohs" and "ahhs" as you point at interesting characters and, like a human encyclopedia, Ross dishes back everything there is to know about them. This activity proves itself incredibly entertaining until the ceremony begins for good.
You absentmindedly brush dust off his suit jacket, straightening his tie and flowers whilst you're at it. If people were watching, you reckon they'd think you two were really together. You didn't mind that at all.
As the double doors open to reveal the bride, you see Ross' heart physically skip a beat. He's glassy-eyed, holding his chest where his heart is. He's more animated than the damn groom, you thought.
You find it endearing how he can look like the pinnacle of masculinity and yet fold so easily at dramatic displays of affection. Nothing could possibly ruin this moment for him, not the snoring from the hungover ex, not even the Nokia ringtone interrupting the officiator.
There were multiple instances during the ceremony where you thought he would crack. The flower girls and the father giving the bride away were moments met with a tear or two, much to your amusement. The vows were another honourable mention, of course. But it was the "I dos" and that final kiss that got him. How cliché, you laugh to yourself. And he's LOST it, hand over his mouth to stifle his lovesick cries. Your own hand over your mouth to stifle your laughter.
As the crowd cheers and hollers, him particularly louder than everyone else, you whip out a packet of tissues from your purse. He accepts them appreciatively, first blotting his face gently, then submitting to fully sobbing into the tissues.
You know you should be watching the happy couple, but all you can do is look at him.
Even though you just met, you are so certain you've never met anyone like him in your whole life. I'd never stay at a stranger's wedding for anyone else.
---
Having calmed this man down after the ceremony, you've been spending the whole reception by his side. The fact you've stuck right by this random man for so long feels like it should alarm you, but it doesn't. He seems to shine mingling with other guests with a glass of champagne in hand and eyes shining under the fairy lights, it's an image that you want to be familiar to you.
There's an instance where he finally introduces you to the newly married couple.
After a string of rehearsed "thank yous" from the couple, Ross beams "This is my date!", tipsy on his third or fourth drink, "We met this morning!"
"Ah, you must be the ACTUAL groom," you exclaim, shaking the groom's hand enthusiastically, much to his confusion, "HAPPY WEDDING!"
---
It's the couple's first dance, you and Ross are sitting next to each other, having moved his name tag to where your friend was supposed to sit. Couldn't think of a better replacement, no offence.
As the couple sway to a slow love song, you are surprised as, for once, his eyes aren't on the festivities but on you.
"Ross Macdonald, you're staring," you say as if you've known him for years, surpassing formalities and entering familiar territory.
You see him smile into his hand, eyes not moving. For a guy you've met only a few hours ago, you sure feel comfortable around him.
And, god, are you having fun.
Through slightly drunk vision, there's a vision, a daydream, of you and him dancing - you in white, him in the same, elaborate suit, same pocket of flowers, same enthusiasm. Rationally speaking, the thought is way too rash and inapt, but nice to think about under the warmth of his fingers playing with your dress.
"This is a very nice material," he mumbles. You lost count of the amount of drinks he's had.
"Am I going to be looking after you the entire night?"
"Consider yourself lucky," he smirks.
And you did. Consider yourself lucky, that is.
He plucks a flower out of the tiny bunch in his pocket and slides one behind your ear. His hand lingered against your face for a second longer.
"Beautiful"
---
It was an orchestra in the morning, jazz band in the evening sort of event. His suit jacket lay over your purse on your chair, empty glasses were strewn across your side of the table, and you're both destroying the dance floor. And you're laughing and shining with this stranger. There are not enough unafraid, unabashedly joyful men in the world, you think, the only one is spinning you around to a jazz cover of ABBA songs.
In a moment of dizziness, you fall backwards almost crushing one of the children, who was running around more so than dancing, but Ross catches you, holding you the dramatic, fairytale way.
"Hi!"
"Hi."
---
You find the pair of you sitting on that same bench you were stood on in the morning when you first met, which now feels like a lifetime ago. The jazz band is still playing away in the background, and you're both giggly from the excessive dancing and drinking, legs overlapping each other as you share a cigarette - you feel like a teenager.
"So, are you planning on tying the knot anytime soon? Have a wedding of your own? You clearly love them," you exhale the smoke into the midsummer night and pass the cigarette back to him.
"One day," he looks over at you, "if I meet the right girl," you glance right back at him. You both burst out in peals of laughter.
"You know what?"
"What?"
"You," you jab at him slightly feeling floppy, like your limbs are made of dust, "you are made for weddings, I even thought you were the groom!"
He gives you a look of disbelief, but you insist. He blushes hard as he exhales the white, romantic smoke. He passes the cigarette back to you, which is now stained with your lipstick. You could see a trace of it on his lips in the light.
After a final puff, you admit "I wasn't really a fan of weddings... not until today."
"Oh, really?"
"This is the first one I've went to that I actually enjoyed"
And it won't be the last, he wants to say.
"You don't believe in happy endings?" he says instead.
You're in this moment, suspended outside of time, in what seems to be an alternative timeline. You don't want to imagine how your night would look if you went home. Your life looks a lot different from this angle - it's about having fun, it's about saying yes or even:
"Actually, I do."
---
Friend: You're in the background of almost everyone's insta stories btw Friend: I thought you said you went home? You: [photo] meet my date You: aka your brother-in-law xoxo Friend: ?!?!
---
A/N: Guys, I hate to break it to you but I am feeling GOOD ABOUT THIS. This is VERY MUCH inspired by this particular blurb in the teacher!Ross universe by my friend and confidant @hypersonic04 because THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE FICS ABOUT ROSS AT WEDDINGS!! I went for a 2000s romcom kinda vibe. RIP if you're waiting on me to FINALLY graze smut/NSFW territory, I am a soft girl at the end of the day - sue me! Anyways, I really hope you enjoyed, love you forever!!!

I just realized that I forgot to send what I wrote to the translator, so I'm writing again .I really like the ideas of a dear with such poor eyesightthat she can hardly see beyond a couple of centimeters . This is very convenient for Yandere, because if she behaves badly, they just need to take off their glasses. + makes an escape attempt very difficult Sorry to write this again 😭
You're fine! I actually know like a very small amount of Russian so I was like trying to challenge myself to read without using Google and managed to recognize a few words which was fun 🤭
And that's literally me, I remember the first time I went to the eye doctor as a teen and tested my sight he was literally so baffled he outright asked me "how have you gotten by this long like this" 💀💀
---
Obviously the worst would be either Kaeya or Childe because they find your impairment very cute and will make your life all the worse for it. Taking your glasses away is not even so much as a means of control for Childe, he just genuinely finds it funny and endearing to watch you struggle. It's just one of many things he does to mess with you, along with putting things you need way out of your reach and hiding your stuff and making you do favors or say sweet (and embarrassing) things to him to get it back. Because it's less a control thing and more pure amusement, though, he's more likely to occasionally relent and give it back to you when you need it.
For Kaeya its both control and amusement, so the same is not true — in fact, he most likely outright throws them away for good. Anything you really need that your natural vision prevents, he can just do for you, and now you'll be forced to ask nicely. But he absolutely will do little things to mess with you.
Diluc just decides you've seen enough for one lifetime. Off they go. You wake up one day and they're not where you set them down and he just shrugs off any accusations from you, but doesn't deny them. It's actually a part of his borderline obsessive fixation with moulding you the perfect wife-y version of you he's constructed in his head. That version of you has no need for them. What do you need good vision for? Seeing things?? Looking at other people?? Navigating the world outside? None of these are approved activities. You don't really need great vision for cooking and cleaning and laying on your back with open legs and other more suitable things. You'll adjust just fine.
If you're farsighted and really want to read a book (which, as long as it's approved reading material, is fine, ideal even as it's a sedentary activity), you may ask very nicely and you may temporarily have them back. You can, however, "negotiate" with him by making it backfire on him, such as "accidentally" getting juice confused with rat poison you give to him. Do this sort of thing enough times and he may relent to let you have them a little bit more often... but still only with permission.
Albedo is actually similar to Childe and Kaeya in that he finds it amusing. He's just not as outwardly teasing about it, rather, he tends to quietly observe with a faint smirk watching you struggle. Him taking them away shouldn't really come as a surprise though, seeing as he's the worst candidate for limiting your capabilities in general. Like, having your glasses taken away actually kind of pales in comparison to being rendered permanently lame or having your entire body temporarily paralyzed when you're being mean to him. He already takes every conceivable opportunity to render you as helpless and dependent as possible, this is just another aspect of that, and the primary reason for doing so. Doesn't mean he doesn't also find it cute, though. He's just not going to outwardly say anything to belittle you about it... unless you're being bad, in which case, a few dry-humored jabs might be warranted.
But most surprisingly, Baizhu of all people has the audacity to use it to his advantage. Total betrayal from someone you would have thought understood Universal Glasses-Haver Solidarity. But perhaps that is why he does it, he knows just how inconvenient and limiting it can be, thereby viewing it as a fairly strong leverage in his favor. Besides, you did earn it when you tried to poison him. Have fun reading labels on the medicinal jars on high shelves now.
Should you ever bring up the inherent hypocrisy of keeping you deprived, he merely says it was a necessary act for your own well-being and his alike. He has a tendency to bounce back and forth between how strict he is — he has a soft spot for you and wants to be lenient and trusting, but his self-awareness of his own physical condition and potential weaknesses make him paranoid enough that once he's decided on something like that, he likely won't go back on the decision.

Hi! So I was just reading about cleon having son, and that's absolutely the cutest thing ever! My heart melts like crazy. And at the same time, I was scrolling through pinterest, and coincidentally saw something about baby names. Like you said before, about continuing the family legacy, but what them having a daughter? I know there's many headcannon about it but hear me out-
So, after having Miles, like in two or three years maybe, up to you, they conceive another child, and it's a baby girl. This is just my thoughts tho, but the name that I think suits for their daughter would be Leonora Vivienne Kennedy, like Leonora means 'light' and Vivienne means 'lively' or 'full of life'. There's another one of my favorite as well that is, Celine means 'heavenly', tbh I cannot choose which one I love most, both of them are French names. Or maybe you can change it, this just my thoughts. I just can't get it out after Miles headcannon. Thank you for feeding me with the headcannon, I'm so grateful.
Btw, sorry if you had a hard time understanding this. English is not my first language💀
It is okay, dear! Your English is fine!!! I'm not a native either :D
About the ask...
AAAAAAAH I'm so happy I could bring MORE people into my crazy HC about ze baby names! Hahaha
I admit I actually live in a family where that "legacy" happens, both my uncles and their sons have the same first name as our granpa and a second name we can call them by without causing massive confusion on everyone lol
And my cousin's husband also does this, he has 2 sons, both with the same first name as him (David).
So I am used to the fact that the women in the family, for obvious reasons, don't have that "name legacy" put on them.
BUT THAT WAS CUTE! What you just said is VERY cute!
I think more HCs about their daughter in such a scenario would be needed for us to settle on something about her, and how flexible Leon is with this crazy "legacy thing" and if he would (or not xD) be willing to 'free' his daughter(s) from that.
I admit at first I thought of him all eager to call his baby "Claire" and Claire like: "Okay sir, I accepted the Leon one because it is a very beautiful name I happen to really like and when I first met you and heard your name I thought: That will definitely be the name of my child" and that there s actually something going on in your family with that name so, it fitted, but 'CLAIRE' is NOT the name I dreamt of giving it to my daughter!"
And Leon just laughs at his wife's confession and he swears to god he can't love her more than he does already.
And since she confessed to loving the name "Leon" so much, he actually starts thinking about the girl's name with the same 'punch' as Leon... Like Leonora or...
AWW THAT IS CUTE! I need to mature the idea a little bit so I can come up with great HCs about Lil Leonora, too! :D
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS. I LOVED IT
Also I have a WEAKNESS for "Celine" I LOVE IT SO MUCH

hormone dose anon here 💕
I’m sorry, I should’ve been much more clear on what I meant by ‘buddy’. Maybe ‘distance buddy’ would’ve been better, idk. Either way, I’m sorry. I’m dumb sometimes 🥺
You’re right, sir. My pussy has rewarded me with a new way to cum! She is so pretty, so wet, so swollen and needy 🥺 all the time. I think she’ll be so happy once I take a man’s cum. She’s been so achy for cock and cum, begging me to go out and find some. I wish I could </3 but I don’t have opportunities currently.
I was so close to asking one of my friends to fuck me, but decided against it. I don’t think it’s a good idea, even though he probably would’ve been on board with it. I just need to wait for the right time, right place, right person. Right?
The way you described the fertility effects of T made me so… needy. “safer. Safe-ish. Safe enough that you don't really need to worry, right? So safe that you can take a man's cum over and over and over and maybe not conceive from it.” Please. I need.
I did end up getting surgery. And I think it actually made me feel more happy with the other girly things about my body, in a roundabout way. I love how my small waist and thick hips are extra accentuated. The way my pussy stands out. It just feels so good 💕 and I’m sorry if it’s disappointing… I think I can be a better girl this way. I took lots of pictures beforehand, and sent them to men old enough to be my dad. Old-er. No regrets.
You are right about the other things, though. My mind is stopping me from reaching my full potential. “Yet” is an important word to remember. I haven’t taken cock yet. I haven’t taken cum yet. I haven’t been knocked up yet. Those are the things I crave the most, despite not being able to fulfill them (yet).
I failed my timeline for denial, but I am to edge and be denied again for a few days once I feel up to it. I think edging to those ideas will really get the message through my head. It has before, and surely it will again. Sometimes I just need a little push, a little encouragement, a reminder. A reminder of what I really am, what I was meant to be.
I hope you aren’t too disappointed with me 💕

It is a shame that you lost your tits, sweetie, but what's done is done. And maybe you're right - if losing your tits lets you dwell on your waist and hips and pussy, if it makes you get riskier and more compliant, it might be worth it in the long term.
After all, a man can fuck a girl's tits, but he can't knock her up that way. The parts of you that are for taking cum and making babies are still intact. If you use those properly, I'll be plenty proud of you.
But speaking of that:
I was so close to asking one of my friends to fuck me, but decided against it. I don’t think it’s a good idea, even though he probably would’ve been on board with it. I just need to wait for the right time, right place, right person. Right?
Do you? Do you really need to keep waiting? Your pussy isn't single-use, sweetheart. When the right time, right place, right person comes along, you can fuck him too - but you don't need to keep waiting for the stars to align. Sometimes the right time is just "as soon as possible" and the right place is "pressed against my cervix".
Your pussy is begging for it - don't keep her waiting forever.

Meggy m'dear......the thoughts/thots have returned.......and this time it's with Rhett (lol).
So we've seen how Calvin and Miles are with their beloved wifey when the little ones begin putting in appearance, but what about Rhett?? (lol, Bob is soon to come and so aren't Harrison and Major Major so be on the lookout.
Rhett would be over the moon when you tell him you're pregnant. He'd probably be worried from all the bull riding fiascos whether or not you could conceive after you guys adopted Amy, but when you tell him you're pregnant, he'd be yelling out the open window, "IT WORKS!!!! MY GOD IT STILL WORKS!!!!! MA BALLS AND MA DICK STILL WORK!!!" Of course, Royal and Cecelia would be absolutely thrilled but I guarantee you that Royal would be yelling right back at him, "Son, I'm happy as hell for ya, but we don't need to hear ya'll shoutin to high heaven about your junk at two in the morning!!" (lol).
Rhett's always rubbing his face against your belly even though you're not showing yet and you can't help but be tickled by his sandpaper cheeks. The morning sickness isn't too bad but when it does hit, the first thing Rhett does is grab a Gatorade from the fridge before coming to help you.
"Baby, I'm so sorry you have to see me like this."
"Darlin it ain't no big deal," he assures you. "Besides, when we were in college and ya'll came to our frat house for a Friday night rager, ya'll held everybody and their mother's hair while they puked. This ain't nothin."
Speaking of which, you guys end up telling many of his buddies who were in the Delta Tau Epsilon Frat with Rhett (Rhett was president and you were first lady when you all were attending college up in Montana, lol) and who stuck by him all the way after college including Rip, Kayce and Wes. All of them freaked out and were excited that they and their wives were gonna be aunties and uncles.
Amy is double excited that she's gonna be a big sister and so isn't your oldest daughter Hannah even though she's only two. Rhett, Royal and the other guys are always hard at work in the woodshed making the furniture for the nursery, but you and Rhett both got a little teary eyed when Royal had brought down an old timberframe crib from the attic which used to belong to Rhett.
You soon find out that you're expecting not one but TWO little babies and they're both boys!!!! You guys were excited beyond words and so weren't Royal and Cecelia but Royal couldn't stop laughing.
"Dad? The hell are ya'll laughin at?" Rhett asked him.
"Your ma and I knew ya'll were trouble the minute you flashed your lil dinger at us," Royal laughed. "You're gonna have your hands full with two of'em Rhett, just sayin."
Rhett literally would not be able to keep his hands off you either. You thought he was horny when you were trying? You ain't seen nothin yet (lol). He'll come up to you in the morning and rub his hard-on against the back of your thigh and at night when you're in your loose sexy bedslip, he'll try and sneak a playful little nibble at your boobs.
Right around month six, Rhett gets an idea in his head to take some pics of you to keep in a personal photo album of his. His favorite is one of you standing near the horse pasture in your favorite summer dress, wearing his cowboy hat and the horse is nudging your belly. His other favorite is a black and white photo of you with the girls and their little hands are all over your bump along with one of you walking barefoot through the back garden.
As the months roll on, it gets a little harder for you to be on your feet. Rhett is the master of the foot, back and neck massage and will gladly rub your swollen feet with cinnamon, ginger and clove oil you keep in the medicine kit. He'll even run you a bath and help you wash and loves running the washcloth over all your curves. He'll even help you put your socks and shoes on as fall turns to winter and will also pick you up from work because he doesn't want you traveling those icy, snowy roads to get home.
It's finally the last month and the doc tells you that everything looks good and your best bet will probably be to have the babies at home since the closest hospital is well over forty five minutes away (lol). Luckily for you, Cecelia comes from a long line of female midwives (her own mother even delivered Rhett the night he was born and Cecelia did the same for Hannah) and offered to deliver the boys.
During a snowy blizzard, Tatum Royal and Tanner James Abbott are both born at the house. Royal is both shocked and happy to learn that one of his grandsons was named after him. They're the tiniest little babies you've ever seen, both snuggled in their blankies and nested in the timberframe crib at the foot at the bed.
You absolutely love how soft your family members are with them. You laugh when you overhear Cecelia snuggling one of them, telling them that they're gonna get all the girls just like their daddy used to (lol). Sometimes you catch Royal singing to the boys and you and Rhett both swear he sounds like Johnny Cash (he even sang "The Wanderer" which Johnny Cash sang with U2 and it put the both of them right to sleep). You let Amy and Hannah hold the both of them and you bet everybody's taking pictures of the girls holding their brothers.
But you absolutely love when Rhett holds one or both of them at the same time. When he's doing skin-to-skin with the boys, he'll have them nested in Amy's Peter Rabbit quilt and when he brings the babies to meet the animals for the first time he does wear a baby wrap made from an old flannel shirt (lol).
Meggy there will definitely be more of this to come, I can't wait to share this little thing about Lew's other characters (lol).
Welcome back my darling! YAY i can’t wait to read these thoughts/thots you sent in for Rhett! 🥰 im also looking forward to the ones you’re going to send in for Bobby, Harrison, & Major Major too :))

AWEEE! it wouldn’t even phase Rhett to see you in your morning sickness states. he would love you no matter what & find you absolutely breathtaking throughout all of your stages of pregnancy! even when you’re feeling self-conscious, Rhett is always there to pick you up & shower you with so much love & little praises :,)
~ just the thought of Amy being a big sister is so so sweet! i love the guys making furniture for the baby out of wood for the nursery! it’s so much more personal that way. aww Rhett’s crib being passed down to baby🥹 Mary! please this is the cutest thing ever & the fact that Rhett gets all teary eyed cause of it!! i cannot right now :,) ughh i love this idea soo much!
TWINS?! both boys?! oh man, wifey is gonna have her hands full! Rhett was already enough, but bring in two more mini Rhett’s & you got yourself a crazy but fun time ! haha!
"Your ma and I knew ya'll were trouble the minute you flashed your lil dinger at us.”
~ HELP!!! this is such a Royal thing to say😂 like !! im rolling on the floor at this! OMG YES!!! YES!! Rhett would be especially touchy feely with you at all times during your pregnancy! him rubbing his hard on onto the back of your thigh in the mornings & sneaking little nibbles onto your nipple at night before bed…😵‍💫 MARY ARE YOU TRYING TO END ME HERE ?! THATS SO HOT!!! the pictures !!! yes! that couldn’t be more perfect! Rhett would absolutely make you do a little photo shoot with your protruding belly out on full display, or just in the nude! he’d be hyping you up the whole time, telling you how gorgeous & sexy you look ;) where can i find myself a Rhett?? seriously!!
~ oohh! i’m not even pregnant & i need Rhett to give me a message haha 🥰 sounds so soothing! him helping you wash up in the bath & helping you put on your socks/shoes in time for the winter is just soooo! this cowboy is a big softie & wants to help you out in anyway he can! especially when you’re carrying his baby. he’s just utterly & hopelessly in love with you :,)
~ Cecilia being the midwife just seems so fitting! Tatum & Tanner are such great names too!! love Royal being the middle name for Tatum & knowing that James is Lew’s middle name is just amazing! i also was funnily enough born in a snowstorm, so i like that you included that little part hehe :) aweee! Cecilia snuggling with the babies is so sweet & Royal singing to them?! oh my goodness! my heart can’t take much more!! omg i’m just imagining how small the babies look while being held by Rhett :,) he is the most gentle & nurturing daddy there is! the peter rabbit quilt & the skin-to-skin is just so precious! the baby wrap!! ahh! Rhett would sink right into the dad role & would be an absolute natural at it 🥹🥹
Mary! you have outdone yourself with these thoughts/thots! you had me smiling, giggling, & getting all hot during certain parts! i absolutely loved this, thank you for sending them in! until next time angel 🥰💕

I understand why you don't want to talk about it, every time you touch on something related to black people you get multiple asks and sometimes other TZ blogs correcting or enlightening you so it's fair if you don't want to tackle Kaz and his non-existent relationship with his daughter just in case. Your friend who thinks it's "cruel" to talk about it is insecure about being corrected and she wants to seem progressive at all times so it's predictable she doesn't want to touch on that either
How unnecessary it is to talk about something has never been a problem for you two so I'm not buying it. Suddenly you don't want to look deeper into it and make a long post and she doesn't want to be an asshole? Please
I’ll let @wetheoriginals speak for herself if she wants to. But I have to say that she’s never come across to me as insecure, not when we’ve disagreed or otherwise.
As for the first part of your ask: every time that we go around about the Vogue quote + paraphrase—which was Zendaya saying that if she were romantically involved with any of her costars they’d have to deal with her dad and brothers, implying that the men in her family gatekeep her sexuality—I say (or imply at least) that I can’t stand the idea of men, including male family members, “protecting” daughters, sisters, wives, girlfriends, etc. from other men. I don’t care for any kind of chivalry, really. (I do like non-gendered politeness, however!)
I basically think what Jablonka is quoted as saying here:
Tumblr media
(From here)
One of the last few times we went around about the Vogue excerpt, a few Black anons wrote in to share that the long history of violence and oppression against Black women, during which they were/sometimes still are left completely vulnerable, lives on in the ways in which some in the Black community conceive of men protecting women—as necessary for survival. I admit it’s still really hard for me to unsee chivalry as “a benevolent sexism that complements hostile sexism,” but I can entertain that my pov is a function of my own identity as a white middleclass woman.
One of the many differences between Tom and Zendaya is that Tom is always talking with great reverence and in detail about his dad’s impact on him, and his dad is literally at this very moment and to some of my followers no doubt selling info about Tom for money. Zendaya hasn’t said much specifically about her dad in a number of years, which is one reason that I bring up that little quote from Vogue every time Kaz comes up.
If I have anything to say about Kaz’s impact on Zendaya, then, it’s around this idea of protection. Kaz and Claire brought her into situations (Hollywood/Disney) that then required him/them to protect her an extra amount, and that’s a kind of control, which becomes ickier when you consider how both have tried to profit off of her success. Even if Zendaya has internalized cultural trauma around being a Black woman, and I do believe that’s possible, the specific dynamic of a dad bringing his minor daughter into an adult world raised the stakes around his protection. What’s more, in some ways Kaz let her down. Every time that “read your contract” and Zendaya’s music career come up I think, well, wasn’t it actually Kaz’s job as manager and father of a minor to read that contract? What exactly happened there?
But I’m not sure how that shows up in Zendaya’s life now because she doesn’t let us see too much. Her choosing Tom—a fairly chivalric boyfriend—is maybe the best indicator that she still thinks she needs or maybe she desires protection from men? 🤷🏻‍♀️
But again, Zendaya isn’t regularly talking about Kaz’s great impact on her and all his words of wisdom that she lives by. Additionally, whatever impact he’s had on her has been colored by whatever sort of falling out they’ve had. She’s probably examined their relationship now that she’s got some distance from it.
For that reason, Zendaya’s relationship with her mom is maybe more interesting?

She Thought She was Normal
A/N: I broke chapter 19 into two parts. It was really long. Also, couldn't indent the dream like I'd done in others, as this one is a bit longer.
Story Summary: Maria really thought she was normal, for most of her life. It was normal for people to have natural talent, she would tell herself the older she got. Many things came easy for her, and that was probably how their rivalry began when she was five and he was seven and she met the Winchesters. Little did either of them know that it wouldn't stay like that forever, both having a far larger destiny than they could imagine
Word Count: 3670
Please don't take my work. I'll post warnings for each chapter. Will eventually be 18+!
Warnings: Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS), Angst (some), back to the slow burn
----------------------------------------- Chapter 19 Pt. 1
“Have you decided then?” the woman’s voice asked from behind her.
She was at that lake again. It was such a serene place, quiet too. Maria sighed and turned to face her, “Can I at least know your name first?” she asked.
“You have to decide first, then I can tell you what you want to know,” the woman replied.
Maria sighed as she sat down on the rock she’d sat on last time, then looked over at the woman, “Yes, I want to know. I just ask that you go slow, so I can process it all.”
The woman smiled softly, yet happily, “I’m Zamariel. You can call me Mari.”
Maria’s eyes widened a bit. She’d had her suspicion of that, but the confirmation surprised her, “What language is that book written in and why can I read it?” she asked, curiously.
“It’s Enochian, the language of the Angels,” Mari replied.
She felt goosebumps run down her body and took a deep breath, “Does that mean I’m an angel?” she asked, nervously.
“Yes, and no. I came to your parents before you were conceived and explained some things to them and that you needed to be born. They are your parents but so am I. Your mother gave me permission to occupy her body so that you could be conceived. I stayed with her through the pregnancy and the birth, as that was the only way she could survive it,” Mari explained, making sure to keep her tone soft, and gentle.
Maria’s mind was already piecing things together as Mari spoke. The prior dreams she had made more sense now. She was also curious how much her uncle and John knew, “I don’t have natural talent, do I?” she finally asked, looking down at the sand.
Mari sighed, feeling for the girl, “No. I’m sorry. It’s because of what you are.”
She closed her eyes and sighed again, “What exactly am I?” she asked.
“You’re an anomaly, Maria. You aren’t an Angel, or a Nephilim, or a God, but you’re capable of more than all of them, through my guidance. You have a destiny. I spent years, looking through the timelines and the possibilities of outcomes. The only one where things didn’t end horribly was the one with you. There was only one where you existed.” Mari explained, taking a couple of steps closer to her.
Maria frowned, “That helps but it isn’t very specific. How am I supposed to keep things from ending horribly? When?” she asked, looking up at her. She was still attempting to come to terms with the fact that an angel was also one of her parents.
Mari went and sat next to her on the rock, wanting to comfort her but also not wanting to push too much too soon, “Those boys, the Winchester brothers. They’re important and they’re being used by something very powerful. I want you to always trust that uneasy feeling you get. It saved Jess’s life this time.” she told her gently, yet proudly.
Maria looked over at her for a moment, thinking. She had so many questions but had no idea where to start now, “What do you mean, I’m an anomaly? And, how come none of my powers have surfaced?” she asked when she finally decided on something.
She smiled a little, “Normally an angel doesn’t choose a vessel of a woman, and then stay to get pregnant, let alone stay through the birth. Because I did that, it made you more than just a Nephilim. As for your powers, I put a block on them, just before you were born. I knew what could happen if I didn’t and you needed to be born. The older you got though, the more you taught yourself things, some of your powers came through. Small ones. Being able to sense others or monsters and even people. That natural talent of yours, it’s a power. That unique way you piece information together. You can master anything you put your mind to. You almost let another come out, being able to feel the emotions of others. I saw that one with Dean when you were a teenager. I also saw how you turned it off too,” Mari told her, proudly.
“So, what happens next? I mean…,” she trailed off, looking back down at the sand and sighed, “I’ve read that book, cover to cover, a few times now. Are angels really dicks? Will they really want to kill me? How do I keep myself safe when I start using my powers?” Maria blurted out, unable to pick just one question.
“Slow down,” Mari chuckled, “Because you chose to learn, there are already new passages in the book with answers to how to keep you safe and hidden. Yes, angels really are dicks. They don’t truly understand humanity or human emotions. The ones that have tried, like Metatron, twist it and it ends up making them worse in the long run. There will be one though, that will end up being an ally when he finally follows his own curiosity. He’s always been a curious angel. As for them wanting to kill you, yes, they will try if they find you,” she explained, sympathetically, “The bunker though, will help protect you, and your family.”
Maria took it all in the best she could. It was a lot for sure and she knew they hadn’t even really scratched the surface on things. She took a few deep breaths, keeping herself calm before she looked over at Mari again, “How do I use my powers and what are they?”
“It’s fairly simple once you get the hang of it. If you think it, it can happen, when you master the idea of your powers. The book has a detailed chapter now on it. You can choose to practice here, in your dreams with me, or while you are awake. Because you chose the truth, the block I put on your powers is gone. They’ll grow with your knowledge. Mind your emotions though. Because you have human parents, your emotions can trigger horrible events if your anger gets out of control. It’s why the book went dormant while you were after Azazel,” Mari explained, again, sympathetically.
She looked down at the ground, “Yeah, that was a really, really rough time. Will I dream every night I read the book now?” Maria asked quietly.
“No. If you want to dream like this, just read the line at the end of the book now, on the last page,” Mari answered.
That was a little comforting, knowing she could read the book as much as she wanted to now and wouldn’t get thrown into this dream again if she didn’t want to. Maria pursed her lips before looking back over Mari, “Can I tell my family?” she asked, worried.
Mari smiled softly at her, “That is up to you. Bobby knows everything. John knows some, but the brothers don’t know anything. You’re part of their family. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be okay.”
She thought about that and wondered how Dean, Sam, and Jess would react to this sort of news, then chuckled a little, “I could see things going at least in an interesting way. I was wondering, you said angels were dicks and didn’t understand humans. How come you aren’t like that?” Maria asked her curiously.
“Do you remember your first dream? I didn’t share much with you then, so as not to overload your mind. I am the first angel, stronger than the rest, not as strong as God though. I spent time on Earth with humans, throughout their evolution. Back from when they were living in caves until now. Being God’s first angel, I have other powers. That one, where you can feel other’s emotions, so can I. Humans are unique and precious. I guess you could say that I gained humanity over the centuries,” Mari smiled.
“Are there other angels on Earth?” she asked her, furrowing her brow in curiosity.
“Some, yes, but not many at all. Most of them are in heaven, doing their jobs. Do you remember that white place you visited in your dream when you were little? That is heaven, at least as it is now,” Mari explained, then sighed and looked away from her, “There is a lot that is wrong with heaven, the angels, and even with God. I’ll save that for another time though. Work on your powers and learn how to use and control them.”
Maria wasn’t liking the unspoken things. It was clear that Mari was leaving things out on purpose and only giving her enough tidbits to push her to learn more, “I’m not a kid anymore. I can handle it.”
Mari gave her a soft smile, “It’s time for you to wake up now,” she told her, then placed two fingers on Maria’s forehead.
-----------------------------------------
Her room was dark as her eyes opened, “Cheater,” she mumbled before she glanced at her clock, eight after seven.
She wasn’t tired, even having been so active in her dream, something she noticed as she got dressed. Her mind was swimming with everything Mari had told her while she walked to the kitchen for coffee, not paying attention to anything around her. She leaned against the counter as the coffee brewed, her gaze on the floor, but she was replaying what had happened in her dream.
“Morning Sis,” Sam told her as he walked over to the cabinet and grabbed a cup for coffee.
She took a deep breath, only slightly startled, and looked over at him, “Morning little brother,” then she chuckled because he was ten inches taller than her.
Sam laughed a little, “Only in age now Sis. How are you doing this morning?” he asked, pouring them both a cup of coffee.
“Well, funny you should ask that,” she mused, before taking her cup and glancing up at him, “Figured out why I can read that book and you can’t.” She figured she might as well tell them. Mari had made a point, they were her family.
“Oh? Why’s that?” he asked her, fairly curiously.
“Don’t freak out?” she asked, giving him a half smile.
“Okay?” he half replied, half questioned.
She bit her bottom lip, a little nervously and looked down at the floor, “Um, it’s written in Enochian, the tongue of angels,” she told him, only slightly nervous.
It took a couple of moments for him to fully process what she had said, “So, you’re an angel or you can just read angel?” he asked, tilting his head, more confused than before.
Maria sipped her coffee, thinking of how to answer, “Have you heard of an angel called Zamariel, the first angel?” she asked him.
“Let’s sit down,” Sam half chuckled as he did what he suggested, “Sounds like you’ve got quite the story.”
She sighed and sat across from him, paying more attention to the coffee in her cup than his expression. She was trying to figure out where to even start, “I’m not exactly an angel but I can read their language,”
Maria proceeded to tell Sam about the book and her dreams, even the things that happened to her when she was a kid and teenager. Sam sat quietly, sipping his coffee, and listening, blown away by her revelation. He was at a loss for words through most of it, especially when she shared that his father knew at least some of it. She had barely drank her coffee while she spoke, although Sam had finished his, but hadn’t wanted to move to get more. When she finished, she glanced up at him before looking back down at her cup. There was a long silence before he finally spoke.
“Just… umm… WOW! So, you’re supposed to stop something horrible and something powerful is manipulating me and Dean,” he stated more than asked. He felt too many emotions all at once for any one specific to be dominant in his tone.
“So, you don’t think I’m some kind of freak then?” she asked quietly, it had been her biggest worry, being abandoned by her family.
“Dear God Sis, no,” he told her sympathetically and sincerely.
She let out a sigh of relief, a breath she didn’t realize she’d been holding, “Now I just have to tell Jess and… Dean,” she frowned at saying his name and the worry that came with it.
Sam sighed, understanding her concern, “Jess should be fine with it. I’m pretty sure Dean will too. It might take him some time to wrap his head around it all, but he should be fine,” he tried to reassure her, and himself.
“Morning,” Jess said happily as she entered the kitchen, got coffee, and sat next to Sam.
He smiled at her and kissed her when she sat down. Maria got up though, getting her and Sam another cup of coffee before sitting back across from him.
“How come you two look so serious this morning?” she asked, still smiling, but also concerned.
“Long story Jess,” Sam told her.
Maria figured it would be easier to tell them one at a time. It also allowed her to say it all out loud, which helped her piece little things together, “Do you want time to wake up more… or you just want me to tell you?” she asked Jess, finally looking up at her, worry the only emotion in her expression.
Jess looked over at her, her smile fading, replaced with concern for her friend, “I’m awake enough. What’s wrong?” she asked.
So again, Maria told her everything she told Sam. It helped her piece some things together in her mind, things Mari hadn’t said but had only hinted around in her dream. It was how Mari had said, ‘mastering the idea of her powers’, almost like mastering the idea of breathing. She kept that to herself for now though, knowing she’d need to read the book to get the last pieces she needed.
Before Jess could even say anything, Dean walked into the kitchen, “Looks like you’re all having fun,” he joked as he got himself some coffee.
Maria looked down at the table, turning her head a bit so that he couldn’t see her whole face. He was the one she was most worried about, even if he was being nicer to her now, for whatever reason that was. When Dean noticed how she moved, his smile faded, worried he’d said something wrong.
“I was only joking,” he told them, more Maria than the other two, as soft as he could manage first thing in the morning.
Sam and Jess looked at Dean, then at Maria, “It’s been insightful,” Sam said, trying to lighten things up.
Dean sat down at the end of the table, leaning back in his chair. He eyed Maria for a moment, debating his next words before he looked over at Sam. He knew if he said something cocky, she’d freeze up or put up that hard shell and he didn’t want that, “I’d love to hear about it.”
He could see the worry in her expression, the way she moved her lips, the fear in her eyes. Whatever it was, he knew it was affecting her or had to do with her. She wasn’t afraid of anything, or at least he’d never see her be afraid, not like this. He’d been with his father when John had found William’s body, so he’d missed the one time in her life she’d truly been afraid.
Sam looked over at Maria, as did Jess, “We’re here for you Sis. It’ll be okay,” he told her softly.
Maria took a deep breath and slowly told Dean what she’d told Sam and Jess. She never looked over at him, focusing only on the coffee in her cup in front of her. She didn’t want to see him look at her like a freak or worse like he might hate her because she wasn’t human. Because of this, she didn’t see the worry he had for her, the concern, the yearning to just hold her. It took everything in him to just sit there and listen. She looked so alone, and he didn’t want her to feel that way. To him, she was family, just as much as Jess had become in the short week she’d lived with them. He saw how she refused to let her tears fall, how her lips moved when she spoke. He listened, but he was also taking in all of her.
“Say something…” she quietly told him.
Dean hadn’t realized that she had not only finished but was waiting for something from him. He wasn’t stupid though, and knew that whatever came out of his mouth next was going to either heal her or break her, “I think it’s kinda cool, having powers ‘an all,” he finally told her with a happy smirk.
Maria furrowed her brow for a moment, slightly puzzled before she looked over at him. He didn’t look like he hated her at least but she hadn’t expected him to say that it was cool either, “That’s it?” she asked, confused.
“Well, there were all kinds of jokes that went through my head, to be honest. I just figured that now wasn’t the time for them,” he told her sincerely, wanting her to smile, at least a little.
His words did make a small smile of relief and happiness tug at the corner of her lips. She couldn’t help it, and she looked down at her coffee, feeling a little shy with the way he looked at her, “I still don’t understand why you’re being so nice but… I appreciate it,” she replied quietly, but softly.
Sam and Jess were both relieved with how Dean had responded. They knew it could have gone horribly, had Dean said the wrong thing, knowing how vulnerable Maria was right now. Dean was smiling now though, seeing Maria light up, even if it was just a little.
“So… who’s hungry?” Dean finally asked, deciding to change the topic.
“Subtle Dean, real subtle,” Sam said annoyed.
“I am kinda hungry,” Maria said quietly with a small smile, still looking at the coffee in her cup.
Dean gave his brother a haha look before he got up, deciding that eggs, bacon, and toast were simple but knew she’d enjoy it, “So am I cooking for just me ‘an her, or did you two want some as well?” he asked his brother and Jess without looking over at them.
Maria chuckled a little, finding his remark a bit humorous. Before she might have gotten annoyed but with how things had changed, she was warming up to how he joked around.
“I’m hungry,” Jess pipped in with a smile.
“Yeah, I’ll have some too,” Sam sighed.
The whole feel of the atmosphere seemed to change for Maria after telling them but mostly after she’d told Dean. She knew he could have said so many things, most of which would have cut deep. He’d been sweet though, and the thought of that made her smile a little again. Dean was smiling as he cooked, proud of himself for managing to control his mouth. He’d wanted to joke around with her so badly with what she’d said but decided there was plenty of time for that later or another day entirely.
Dean served her first, unable to not smirk as he looked into her eyes, seeing her look up at him while he placed her plate in front of her. God, he wanted to kiss her and had to quickly move away to make Sam and Jess’s eggs, taking a deep breath. He didn’t see her any differently, not in a bad way. He just found her more alluring than before. Jess giggled at the little interaction. Her experience around college guys had taught her a lot about the insight into men. She whispered something in Sam’s ear, making him chuckle. Dean shot him a glare before he went back to cooking, only making Sam chuckle again.
“This is really good Dean, thanks,” Maria told him, making the tips of his ears blush a bit with her compliment.
He coughed, trying to clear his throat, “Uh, thanks, Sweetheart,” he replied, remembering she had told him the day before that she didn’t mind that anymore.
Sam raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to go off on him, but she didn’t. She just smiled a little more. That wasn’t lost on Jess either, who had even higher hopes for the two.
They ate mostly in silence, but it wasn’t awkward, it was welcomed. It was Jess’s turn to do the cleanup, so after breakfast, Maria excused herself to her room. She needed to do some reading. Dean watched her go, fighting internally about following her. He had so many questions but hadn’t wanted to ask them in front of Jess or Sam. Before he could get up though, his phone rang. John was checking in with them.
Dean put his phone on speaker, setting it in the middle of the table, “How’s it going, Dad? You’re on speaker.”
“We’ve got the Colt. Bobby and I are on our way back. How’s Maria doing?” John replied.
“She’s better. Dean helped her fix up her room,” Jess told him.
“I’m glad she’s better. We should be back tomorrow morning, depending on traffic. Bobby and I are gonna switch off driving and sleeping so we can get back as soon as we can,” John explained.
“Dad, when you guys get back, Maria does have news though, and you’ll want to hear it,” Sam told him, getting an annoyed look from Dean.
“She said yes, didn’t she?” Bobby hollered from the driver’s seat so they could hear him.
The three shared a look before Dean answered, “Yeah, she did,” he replied, not sure what else to say.
“I’ll fill John in on the drive,” Bobby stated before John hung up.

hello! hope you are well. i love love love your posts. they are always so reasonable and aptly put. so thank you for all your hardworks <3
i was thinking about something for a long time. i'd like to know your opinion on that.
it's obvious that rhaenyra never should have married laenor. in the book she was threatened by viserys to marry him and if she had remained defiant, viserys would have disinherited her. she felt pressured to marry laenor in the show too, so that whole thing was unfortunate for her. when she married laenor, in the show she couldn't conceive his child. and then perhaps she and harwin began their relationship. when jace was born, it was obvious that he wasn't a velaryon.
so, exactly what was rhaenyra supposed to do after jace? she needed an heir to secure her position, but with laenor, it wasn't happening. and when jace was born, he didn't look like rhaenyra either. was there any way for rhaenyra to annul her marriage without offending corlys? and even if the annulment was possible, how it would have affected laenor? would people have called him "less of a man"? everyone knew for a fact that laenor was gay.
even though i am team green i feel some sort of sympathy for rhaenyra here because i still don't know if there were any possible way to get out of that situation without causing a huge drama. that being said, vaemond and his family deserved better.
i know, there are too many questions and for that i'm so sorry, i just had to ask them to you.
Hello, sweet anon, thank you for your lovely message!
As it happens, I already made a post that, I think, answers most of your questions (if you have other additional ones, hit me up).
it's obvious that rhaenyra never should have married laenor.
I think Laenor is actually a very good political match for Rhaenyra. He is also a kind man, who respects her, abides by her and would never hurt her. The problem with the Velaryons is inherited from the previous Targaryen generation. By marrying outside the family, Rhaenys created two additional dragon-riders with her children. Think about the fact that, at the time of Rhaenyra's marriage, House Velaryon had three dragon-riders, while House Targaryen only two. Uniting these two branches through marriage is a very good idea. Just like Viserys marrying Laena would have accomplished the same thing (🤢).
in the book she was threatened by viserys to marry him and if she had remained defiant, viserys would have disinherited her. she felt pressured to marry laenor in the show too, so that whole thing was unfortunate for her.
Only after she made a mockery of her betrothal tour and almost-slept with Daemon. She has a lot of opportunities and freedoms out of reach for many other noble lords and ladies.
when she married laenor, in the show she couldn't conceive his child. and then perhaps she and harwin began their relationship.
Not sure about Laenor's infertility. It's more likely he & Rhaenyra didn't really try.
when jace was born, it was obvious that he wasn't a velaryon.
Yes. Perhaps Rhaenyra hoped Harwin had some recessive blond genes in his background (not phrased in that language, obviously) and the child would come out looking more like her. But it was a huge miscalculation.
so, exactly what was rhaenyra supposed to do after jace? she needed an heir to secure her position
No, she didn't. See the first linked post. I think the better option here would have been to name Aegon her heir* and for Laenor to pass Driftmark to Laena's line after his death. Viserys had already produced enough children with Alicent and House Velaryon has no lack of cousins who can inherit, if needs be. There are enough Targaryens and Velaryons in the world by this point; they are not facing extinction.
*No, her life would not be forfeit in that situation. Legally, her claim is not very strong (narrative weakness / plot hole) and realistically-speaking people would not have much reason to rally behind her. I have a whole succession for the Iron Throne tag for this.
was there any way for rhaenyra to annul her marriage without offending corlys? and even if the annulment was possible, how it would have affected laenor? would people have called him "less of a man"? everyone knew for a fact that laenor was gay.
Previous post on annulment + another one. Important aspect to keep in mind: why would the High Septon award Rhaenyra an annulment when the Faith of the Seven is based in Oldtown, the home city of the Hightowers?
that being said, vaemond and his family deserved better.
Agree. That was a grievous abuse of power. 🤷‍♀️ Personal ambition is not a crime. Even if you want to argue Baela & Rhaena are ahead of him in the line of succession*, Vaemond has every right to petition his case and await the King's judgment. He is not seizing anything illegally here. He is officially appealing the institution of the Crown and stating his own argument. Not Vaemond's problem Viserys is rotting from the inside out and he is basically petitioning Alicent & Otto.
*Controversial opinion, but I'm not arguing that. I think the girls should be disqualified because they are not putting their own cases forward as a result of their conflict of interests (their father being married to Rhaenyra, who is actively trying to usurp the Velaryons out of her lands). Again, not Vaemond's problem they are unwilling or unable to argue for themselves and indirectly abetting Rhaenyra's takeover.
even though i am team green i feel some sort of sympathy for rhaenyra here because i still don't know if there were any possible way to get out of that situation without causing a huge drama.
It's not so much that Rhaenyra made one or two mistakes and now she should be punished for them, it's more that... I'm really struggling to see what/if Rhaenyra did anything right at all. She has been skirting her duties all her life and everything she does post ep. 6 is damage-control, which inadvertently backfires on her, because the hole she dug herself in is already too big.
Nevertheless, Rhaenyra is in a very difficult situation, no doubt. It is not fair that she has to clean up the messes left behind by Jaehaerys and Viserys, the two "peaceful" kings. Jaehaerys should never have passed over Rhaenys in the first place. Viserys should never have remarried and produced extra sons. It's a difficult task, but it is her lot in life, should she ever wish to become queen. She can always pass this on to Aegon and live her life as a rich, comfortable woman. No one is forcing her hand here.
The only way I see Rhaenyra having a sliver of a chance is if she maintains a good, honest relationship with Alicent and her sons, marries a powerful, rich noble lord and has his trueborn children + petitions, wines & dines, gives out bribes and favours constantly to the lords and important players in Westeros, makes constant royal progresses, gets to know them, gets them to like her, helps them with their grievances, just basically lobbies the fuck out of every power centre in the Seven Kingdom, including the common folk. So that, when the time comes, she has so much popular support that she can basically impose herself via some sort of charismatic authority. Doesn't flee to Dragonstone, abandoning the capital and the practical governance. And absolutely does not kill her husband and does not marry Daemon.
i know, there are too many questions and for that i'm so sorry, i just had to ask them to you
No worries, I just hope I answered them! 🦄

Notes on The Path of Daggers
Oh, Shienar leaders reunion! Does it mean we will at last get some Lan content? They don’t seem to be ready to support Rand though.
Verin is the very definition of a bad bitch. She perceives so much more than she lets on and I love that she clearly has her own agenda. Black Ajah? Spy? I have no idea what her deal is, but she seems to be on a level with Cadsuane and Moiraine when it comes to acting as a free agent.
Birgitte is smaller than Aviendha and Elayne? Lies! Lieeeeeeees!
"You can ask or demand anything of me, but never to let you die without trying to save you. The day you die, I die." I am in agony. The way this is both about Nynaeve and Moiraine, but in a different light, with the trust and love placed in Nynaeve and the acknowledgement of betrayal by Moiraine. Blood and ashes, this storyline is going to hurt.
Not liking Aviendha's thoughts on women and softness, all the more ridiculous that Birgitte is right here, with her love of dresses and feminity despite being very strong. I get this is Aviendha’s POV, but this is only the hundredth time we got such an angle and I am tired.
On one hand, I understand Nyn and Elayne not trusting the Aes Sedai with guarding the Black Ajah, because there has to be one or two BA sisters in their ranks. On the other, they don't have the best track records with decision-making and risk assessment, so I will be surprised if Ispan doesn't escape eventually, with casualties at that.
I am rooting for the Kin so hard. Please, let them be Aes Sedai and prove themselves, they are so cool. Like with the noblewomen and grandmothers being integrated into the Tower by Egwene later on, this storyline gives me so much joy.
Nynaeve ready to yell at the Aes Sedai despite them not doing anything for once is so funny. For all their flaws, Aes Sedai are no worse or better than other groups, especially with all the parallels to the Aiel. I’d say it was the most fun these chapters had been because the conflict between the four groups is getting repetitive.
I love Aviendha worrying about the gholam when we know for a fact Seanchan are invading at this very moment. She is a trouper though and I love her lion-heart.
Elayne and Aviendha giving strong "she is so smart and brave and beautiful" New Spring Siuan and Moiraine vibes. They legit have more chemistry together than either with Rand.
Yeah, still not a fan of Nyn and Elayne relying so much on their strength to intimidate or gain the upper hand on others. It's not something they picked up only from Aes Sedai either considering Verin's words at the beginning of The Dragon Reborn. It's just... You know the way people with power are terrified of weaker people enacting on them the same violence because they cannot conceive of a world without a power imbalance? Yeah that.
What I gather from all those new channelers being insanely powerful, even more than Nynaeve, is that as the Age comes to an end, more channelers in line with the Age of Legends will reveal themselves in different nations.
People with cloud dancing abilities and the Windmistresses are doing unaided what required ter'angreal in the AoL? Very interesting. As with the bonding weave, I love the nuance in picturing evolution as non-linear, with gains and losses, particularly in light of all the history and scientific advancement lost to time.
RJ's insistence that Aiel are tanned white people instead of the people of color they should have been will never stop being bizarre. I know they are fantasy Irish/Scottish people, but the fact they are uniformly described as tanned blond white Californians is throwing me off.
See, one of my issues with Elayne that is standing out this book is the way she often seems to me an Egwene stand-in: her arc about being Queen but having to prove it is too similar to Egwene’s at this point. They’re not the same obviously, but too closely related, especially considering how different the boys are from one another.
I am glad that Caire and the Sea folk took the helm with the Bowl of winds because otherwise, it would have been super White savioury of Elayne to lead. It will be such a bloody incredible scene on-screen, I cannot wait.
Alise in the long line of very competent working-class women without which whole institutions would crumble. Also described like an avalanche btw. Yes, I miss Moiraine.
The Seanchan attack and Elayne unraveling the gateway was so bloody epic. Elayne the mad scientist remains my favourite Elayne. I love the unease in the Seachan camp when they incorrectly conclude from this that their enemies have weapons of mass destruction (which they do, in the form of sa’-, ter’- and angreal, but this was an accident.)
Oh, Perrin is crossing paths with Morgase's party! I am digging this. This is going to be interesting, with Morgase hiding her identity and so many leaders traveling with Perrin, a rebel leader himself.
Here's the thing, if you send away Berelain and Anoura, gag Seonid and only use the Wise Ones as watchdogs, you're left with Perrin and Morgase and they just are not interesting enough by themselves to keep my attention.
Is Lini forcing Morgase to marry Tallanvor? Why are old women so creepy in these books?
I love Faile. I don't love that her presence prompts gender essentialism to worsen every time in Perrrin’s thoughts. I will never get used to it. I hate being yanked out of the story because of this.
Faile and her Cha Faile. Her being a shrewd politician and general, seeing the potential of eager and devoted young Cairhienins who are likely expert practitioners of Daes Dae’mar. She’s genuinely a good leader, like Berelain or Egwene, and I love her political acumen.
In an ideal Lubitschean Wot Universe, Faile and Perrin are married, Aram is Perrin’s boyfriend and Berelain is Faile’s girlfriend.
Oh boy, Tallanvor and Morgase is almost as bad as Siuan and Gareth. Stop forcing women in a vulnerable mental state to hook up with guys they depend on for survival.
The Aiel and indentured servitude… There’s a whole discussion to have about making prisoners apprentices in this way, as opposed to willingly like Aviendha and Egwene. The Aes Sedai are not Aiel, this is not ji’e’toh.
About Alliandre: just another powerful woman pledging to a man, nothing to see here.
That said, the discussion between Alliandre, Faile, Berelain and Annoura? So good. RJ writes bloody entertaining negotiating scenes, truly.
Ah yes, the four horsemen of the fantasy apocalypse :
Elayne - nepotism
Perrin - feudalism
Aviendha - indentured servitude
Rand - imperialism
Between the Cha Faile, the Rebels outside Cairhien with Darlin and Caraline, Mat's army, there is a strong recurring theme of Tear and Cairhien coming together under the Dragon's banner and it makes Siuan's association with Moiraine all the more thematically relevant, just saying.
Okay, maybe I should pay more attention to Moridin if he is Nae'blis. Who the heck is he? Also Cyndane? I love this game of whack-a-Forsaken.
I don’t say this enough, but the Forsaken are incredibly amusing in a Grand Guignol way.
Despite the initial Manicheism, the granularity of evil and good in these books is really fascinating: there are a million individuals on each side and in between, pursuing their own goal, or a common one but in a vastly different way.
Also, I can't bemoan the stupidity and lack of organization of the antagonists, particularly the Forsaken, without recognizing that most of the heroes are pretty incompetent themselves: they all have their own agenda and interest, their personality gets in the way all the time, they absolutely suck at communication and negotiation, and their plans rarely work as it should. The ta'veren factor does a lot of work here. Don't get me wrong, it is generally fun to read, on both sides, but yeah, sheer luck and lots of foolishness.
Aielman standing in the streets staring at the pouring rain and Cairhienin noblewoman laughing with her hood down under the rain, I send you paper kisses because that was charming.
A bit disappointed we did not get the first encounter between Sorilea and Cadsuane, but I really enjoyed their conversation. At least Sorilea is realizing the Aiel are as much help as the AS and that Rand needs a different kind of support than what they are providing.
Rand chapter finally!
And unfortunately it's one of those "group A disagrees with group B with the support of group C although group C hates group A while group D glares at group A sneering at C for agreeing with them, and B silently mocks group D for being so careless" chapters. It’s a lot of mannerisms and opposing POVs. It doesn’t really add much to the story beyond colouring and at this point in the conflicts, we don’t really need more colouring.
Adored the conversation with the Asha'man afterward though. They’ve gained a lot of individuality now that they’re away from Taim, which has to be intentional. Getting really worried about Rand’s symptoms and the possibility they are indeed starting to lose their mind.
I wonder if like healing stilling, healing the weather required both male and female channelers, and in their haste, the circle only fixed the weather partially because that’s a LOT of snow after a scorching summer. All the trees are going to die out of shock.
I love Egwene so bloody much. And Siuan. And Leane. I love their machinations, their mutual support, their chemistry, their strength, their flaws, their ridiculousness, their humanity, their everything.
Siuan knowing the history of the Tower by heart fills me with so much love. I feel so emotional about the contrast between the contempt some sisters hold her in for breaking the Tower and the devotion Siuan still has for the Tower, the love she has for who she is, an Aes Sedai. They get deserved crap for their stupid hierarchies, their arcane rules, their inflexibility and isolation, but the White Tower was created with laudable goals at first: preserving humanity and knowledge. They are not soldiers, they were meant to be custodians; seeing someone like Siuan, who embodied the Tower and broke it and herself in trying to push it in another direction… UGH. It reminds me of loving a country, a community, and hating it so much, hating what it taught me, what it broke in trying to preserve itself, and believing that maybe it would be easier to destroy it entirely, and still there is some good here and it deserves, perhaps, to remain and be changed.
Yeah, I love Siuan so much. Egwene is right: Siuan is so incredibly strong.
Shit, Aran'gar killed Selame? Sheriam is spying? For who? Shit shit shit. The Salidar lot is in so much danger.
I knew Elayne and Nynaeve's bargain with the Sea Folk was pretty much BS. They promised the moon knowing it was near impossible for Egwene to fulfill the bargain. Knowing Egwene, she will rise to the challenge.
I would die if Egwene puzzling out Siuan is in love with Gareth became in the show Egwene understanding Siuan is not merely mourning a co-conspirator in Moiraine but also a lover.
Talmanes feeling Mat needs him from hundreds of miles? Oh that's gay
Whatever possesses RJ to constantly interrupt charming bonding scenes or intense plotting schemes with the most childish romantic nonsense? Women and men alike lose braincells at the most inconvenient moment. It’s killing the vibe each time.
Everything about the way Egwene prepared and navigated the negotiations with the Andorans, and then the Aes Sedai? Phenomenal. I was on the edge of my seat.
I'm not gonna lie, going from blood-pumping Egwene chapters to mostly static Elayne and Rand chapters is underwhelming.
Still, there is an extremely uneasy and frantic energy to this particular fight around Ebou Dar. Perhaps it’s Rand’s extreme confidence in the Asha’man. Perhaps it’s the clear instability spreading through the male channelers. Perhaps it’s the grueling Guerilla approach to this battle. Perhaps it’s the oddness of the One Power in the mountains. I am really enjoying this tbh.
The Asha'man are much, much too eager to fight Aes Sedai and Taim has too great a hold on them. I don’t like that Rand’s distrust is caused mostly by LTT’s voice but he is right to suspect Taim’s influence on the Asha’man.
Are we ever going to find out what the deal is with the One Power for women and men near Ebou Dar? I love the concept of corrupted places where physics or magic doesn’t work as it should.
Liandrin?! In the hands of the Seanchan? What is going on?!?
Why is Lews Therin quoting that Prussian general? Is Prussia canon in the Wheel of Time univers?
THEY STOLE THE OATH ROAD And Pevara and Seaine discovered how to undo the Oaths? Oh, that is really interesting. REALLY interesting, particularly after Siuan’s discussion with Egwene.
Oh my god, if you order an Aes Sedai to lie under an oath, she can die choking?!?
OoooooooOooooooooOoooooh they are recruiting Salidar's spies to hunt the Black Ajah! This is so good. What an exciting development!
I got chills when the last Aes Sedai who discovered Seaine and Pevara refused to swear she was not a Darkfriend. I suspect it can’t be that easy though. Still really hyped for this storyline.
As I said, Asha’man = incel army. Of course, they would capture Aes Sedai and use compulsion to make them love them.
"Maybe Elayne had taught him." In a week while making out in Tear? Rather than Moiraine who spent months with him in the Waste cramming his head with 20 years' worth of experience as Blue Ajah? Or Bashere who has been working with him to handle no less than 4 different armies begrudgingly working together? Or the Aiel who are the fantasy Sparta culture? Come on, Min, I know you're trying very hard not to get jealous, but you're being foolish and as Rand’s primary advisor currently, you cannot afford to be foolish.
Cadsuane joking she expects the Asha'man to juggle made me cackle. She is the definition of the bigger bully.
Callandor requires men and women to work? Nice, I was hoping to get a sa’angreal like this soon. Seeing Rand navigate people he doesn’t trust while working with them is also particularly exciting.
Oh, they killed Adeleas... Vandene crying out loud for her sister after the others were sent away was actually heartbreaking. I do like that DF are still a serious threat; not a given with the number of actors now at play. Elayne and Nynaeve were faaaaar too trusting of the dozens of strangers they took up at the farm.
Rand and the Asha'man... Man, that was brutal. The madness was bound to catch up to them, but this, coming right after a near defeat, deaths caused by Rand and a betrayal, is absolutely harrowing. I love that we got Rand talking about consulting Nynaeve to cure the taint beforehand, giving them some hope, and then Rand invokes Nynaene to provide the only cure available for now to Fedwin. It’s so bleak, I love it.
Not liking one bit the idea that women like Nynaeve and Faile need to be dominated by their husbands to have a happy marriage. Not one bit.
We didn't get unnecessary female nudity in a while and now we get it for ALL our ladies. Amazing. At least, my gal Berelain escaped.
The finale was a little jarring in the sense that we needed to catch up with everybody suddenly and still got nothing on Mat and the Shienaran alliance, but before that I really enjoyed the bleakness on Rand’s side. Reminded me of New Spring. I do wish we spent more time on the aftermath of the attack Rand in the Sun Palace and the first mercy killing, but I suspect it will be explored next book.
Verdict: two books into the slog and I am cruising so far. My biggest complaint is the similarities in power struggles between Rand, Egwene and Elayne, the three big threads here: for several chapters, each is trying to handle groups at daggers drawn, with varied degrees of success. It’s obviously the unifying theme, but the story would have benefitted from a serious arc for Mat and Nynaeve for breathers, as both are generally entertaining wildcards. Nynaeve had practically NOTHING to do outside of her beef with Alise, which is frustrating because I’ve been unsatisfied with her arc for a few books now. Hopefully, she’ll get one with the research to clean saidin.
Yet, as much as I absolutely see the slackening in the narrative, with several chapters depicting characters riding and disagreeing and nothing else, I appreciate the depths added by Egwene’s moves, Rand losing his grip and the overcorrection of the weather. It’s not much, true, and this book will likely be merged with another for TV, but it certainly wasn’t as slow as certain parts of TEotW or LoC. I was deeply moved by certain parts (the Asha’man, Siuan and Egwene, Vandene and Adeleas), which makes this book automatically better than others in the series.

Gonna ramble at you fair warning.
I had a conversation with my (very anti-drug psych nurse) parents a couple of nights ago. I told them all about why I put an ocean between us a decade ago and why I haven't spoken to my brother since before his 6 month old son was conceived. I told them how much everything had hurt and what growing up was like for me and how many times they fucked up and made it harder. I told them how angry I have been for the last 40 years, at the world, at them, at myself, at the dickhead in the wamart carpark who can't be arsed putting her shopping cart back and just leaves it behind parked cars...
I told them I've been taking psilocybin as a treatment for the last year and how well it's been working. They asked me to tell them honestly what I thought of them and I did. I told them what they did badly and what I think lead them to those choices. I told them what I thought their intent was in making those choices. I told them they were people, just like me.
Then my dad made his very first social media account and it's a secret one just for talking to me. We all cried a lot and said I love you lots of times - I tried to tell my mum I loved her once about 20 years ago and she thought I had had a brainfart and forgotten who I was talking to and she didn't believe I meant it for her until I reminded her of it during this conversation, my family DOES NOT SAY THAT.
I haven't been able to feel the ground under my feet for 2 days. The emotional weight I've dropped from my chest was holding me down so much and I never even realized it was there.
All of this started because the guy who organized the looting of what was left of our apartments after our building burned has been given a unit in our complex and he was sitting outside using a wooden box that I painted to store his drugs and smokes in. I lost that box in the fire. I thought I would have been angry about it but... Listen this guy is so pathetic. I can't even try to be angry about him. Watching him try to ingratiate himself into the community here is like watching a mangey raccoon try to trade you a dead leaf for the whole pizza you just had delivered. Fascinating but depressing if you think about the raccoon too much and ultimately not really anything to do with you personally, you just happen to be the person holding a pizza. I don't like him and I still don't want him here, but he definitely made his own bed and he has no idea how to get out of it. I don't need to see him punished anymore, he's making sure he suffers all by himself. I have no urge to try to stop it, but I don't need to see it either.
I think the change in attitude comes from reading a lot of your Jewish stuff. I was christened as a catholic at like 4 months old and that's about as much as I've had to do with any organized faith/religion/spirituality (I dunno none of those sound like the right word but it's something like that), but the things you say make so much sense. I'm glad there are belief systems out there that don't see their followers as a resource to exploit, they come out with some good shit when the actual goal really is community health.
Thank you for existing.
Look, I'm not going to say Judaism is perfect. It's made up of people, and people in large groups always find a way to fuck things up. That's the beauty and agony of humanity. We come up with some great ideas, and then we fuck them up!
But what I will say is that the ideals behind Judaism make so much more sense to me and make me happy to do my best to follow them. So like at least when I fuck up, I'm fucking up doing my best and trying to follow a mindset that I think makes sense and works for me.
I'm really glad that it has helped you and I'm so glad for this moment you've created for yourself. I'm really proud of you. I hope you can heal your relationship with your parents more.

Thoughts on TBB 1x2 and 1x3
I'm back! I promise that I didn't forget about the whole Bad Batch rewatch analysis thing I just uh... haven't actually been watching TBB recently. In fact it's been a whole month since I made the last analysis post...
But I have some thoughts on the next two episodes! I was hoping to get this out earlier in the week but after writing essays for my exams I had no motivation to churn it out. But here it is!
(Also, I may have started rewatching The Tudors so I have absolutely no idea when I'm actually going to watch TBB again... this whole plan is going very well. I'll try and not wait an entire month again this time!)
1x2
Tech in the Pilot Seat
Straight away, seeing Tech in the pilot seat made me instantly think of that shot from the S2 finale of Echo looking at the empty seat next to him.
That image haunts me.
I will never be the same.
Omega and Dirt
I love the comparison between Omega in S1 and Omega in S2. By S2 you can definitely tell that she's settled into the flow of things and is much more accustomed to a life outside of Kamino. The scene of her discovering dirt for the first time is sweet and kind of funny (especially with Tech's comment) but also kind of sad. Her entire life she has grown up in a completely sterile environment with absolutely no idea about what the world around her was like. The fact that she doesn't even know what dirt is means that she probably wasn't taught about it either. It just proves that the Kaminoans never had any intention of letting her leave the labs. She was one of their experiments, one of their helpers and they were never going to give her the life that she deserved.
But I do love that her awe and desire to explore are still there in S2. if anything, I think taking her off Kamino just enhanced her desire to see more of the galaxy. When we first saw her at Tipoca City, she never showed any real desire to leave, not because I don't think she necessarily wanted to, but because she had resigned herself to the fact that this was her life and that this was in fact normal. She's a child experiment surrounded by millions of other child experiments. That is her normal. At that point, I don't think that she could even conceive just how different the universe outside of Kamino was. But now that she's had a taste for that adventure, she wants to chase that curiosity and explore wherever she can. They may be on the run from the empire, but it was still her first taste of what freedom actually was.
Batch Parenting
So there are multiple points in Cut and Run when they address the fact that the Batch aren't used to having a child around don't really know what to do with the whole situation: Wrecker initially going to take Omega's food, Hunter shouting at her etc. But there is one little detail that I noticed that immediately stuck out to me. When they are walking through the fields to Cut and Suu's house, they are all walking single file with Omega at the back. Now, if we've learnt anything from going on trips at school is that you do not leave children at the back of the line: you have at least one adult at the back and one at the front with the child(ren) sandwiched in the middle. She could've stopped walking and wandered off, or gotten lost, and none of them would've known (unless Hunter's senses picked it up).
It's just one of those little things that show that the Batch aren't used to this. They don't necessarily think that it might be a good idea to keep Omega between them, they just let her trail at the back and assume that nothing will happen.
Echo and Rex
I love how Echo immediately starts asking Cut and Suu questions when they bring up Rex. Personally, I would've liked to have seen a little bit more emotion from that revelation because at this point Rex is officially registered as deceased, but it still makes me happy to see Echo asking about his Captain. That's his older brother. Of course he'd want to know that he's okay. :')
Tech and Echo
My two favourite geniuses with half a brain cell <3
I missed the banter between these two so much when Echo left :(
But I do want to address how close those two are. For Echo, Tech is the other half that has been missing since Fives died. No, Tech will never be to Echo what Fives was, but he's the closest thing to a constant companion that Echo has. The Domino Twins were always paired up, always completing missions as a duo.
Tumblr media
And then Echo came back to find that Fives was gone and it would've been a massive empty space that Echo could always feel next to him. But then he ended up with the Batch and naturally partnered up with Tech. Like I said, Tech will never be Fives, but it's probably a great comfort to Echo to have someone by his side again, to have one person out of a group to be your partner in crime.
And I'm sure Tech really appreciated it too. Yes, he's always had his brothers, but it must've been nice for him to have someone who had similar technical capabilities (*thinks about Hunter and the lift*) that he could work with or just talk to. I headcanon that when Echo first joined, him and Tech became really close because Echo was one of the only ones to actually ask Tech about his ramblings and actively listen to them. Yes, they bicker with each other, but they are 100% a couple of little shits when paired up together (...I need Tech back).
Echo
Nothing to say here, I just really like this shot of Echo
Tumblr media
Wrecker Knocking Out Droids
So there's a shot of Wrecker knocking out an astromech to help Omega that is very much like the scene in S2 when he steps on the mouse droid. But what I like about the differences in these two scenes is that in S1, Omega needs help after she's wandered off by herself, but in S2 she's gone off alone because they trust her to do so.
It's a little parallel that shows how she's gone from being someone trying to prove her worth and ultimately getting herself into trouble, to being someone who they actively trust to do the things that she was trying to do in S1.
Hunter Didn't Tell Wrecker About Omega Leaving
Just before they get on The Marauder, Wrecker asks where Omega is, meaning that Hunter didn't tell him that she was going to be going with Cut and Suu. And honestly, that doesn't surprise me a whole lot. Hunter is very much a man who will try and avoid difficult situations where possible, so I think he was just hoping to break the news about Omega leaving as late as he could. If he had mentioned it beforehand, Wrecker would've been upset and probably would've tried to contest Hunter's decision. It was probably easier in Hunter's mind to tell everyone when they left (which would've caused it's own problems but Hunter doesn't actually do a particularly good job of avoiding trouble most of the time).
1x3
"Repairs would go faster if I had some help."
...Tech's not there to help him anymore *cries*
Also, the idea of Tech carrying out repairs for the first time after Echo left and that being the moment when it truly kicks in that he doesn't have his partner in crime there... *cries more*
"More squads like this being trained by skilled clones"
The Empire in all their dickish glory are really out here making the clones train the groups of soldiers who would eventually replace them. They clearly acknowledged the skills of the clones enough to use them as tools to teach all the elite teams they were recruiting, but didn't actually care enough to keep the clones around.
And while we're on the subject, there is something ironic about the Empire complaining about the clones lack of loyalty. The truth is, they are loyal. They are arguably the most loyal people that you will ever find, but they are loyal to what they believe is right. The Empire are just pissed that a bunch of highly skilled soldiers have to be brainwashed into thinking that they are not just a group of asshats.
"I'm angry at myself. We don't leave our own behind."
This line alone is all the evidence you need that they still care about Crosshair. They didn't just abandon him because they no longer care, they left because they had to and that decision continues to haunt them. I can imagine Rex saying this exact same thing after discovering that Echo was alive. Neither Rex nor Hunter were wrong for leaving their men behind in that moment, but knowing that they left them will always stick with them.
(Also, the same sentiment is definitely going to apply when they are reunited with Tech because he is 100% alive)
"Enjoy being a commander... for now. We'll see how things shake out."
Now Crosshair looks very put off by this comment, and I don't blame him, but tbf... the guy wasn't wrong. I think Crosshair always knew that the Empire would eventually screw him over, but he hoped that maybe, if he could prove himself enough, they wouldn't throw him out like trash. Being promoted to a commander was probably a tiny bit of hope for Crosshair that he could secure a position, be a more prominent figure.
But obviously we know from S2 that that didn't happen. That role didn't stick, it was only ever temporary and the Empire were fully willing to leave him behind, regardless of the position that he held. They never cared. And so as much as it was a dickish comment from the elite squad member at the time, it ended up being an accurate statement.
Not that it turned out much better for him seeing as Crosshair got rid of him soon as :)
Old Moon Dragon How???
Zoology ramble incoming.
WHY IS THERE AN ANIMAL THAT FEEDS OFF RAW ENERGY LIVING ON A DESOLATE ROCK IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE??? DID I MISS SOMETHING??? HOW IS THAT THING STILL ALIVE??? DOES IT NEVER EAT??? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO BE CRASHING ON THAT ROCK FOR IT TO BE EVOLUTIONARILY ADVANTAGEOUS TO FEED OFF RAW ENERGY WHEN YOU LIVE ON A BARREN ROCK IN THE MIDDLE OF SPACE???
Crosshair vs The Batch
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*cries again* Someone give my poor boy, Cross, a hug :'(
But I do like what these two shots show. Despite being in a room with a group of people, Crosshair is alone. He doesn't feel like he has anyone, he's isolated, he doesn't have anyone around him to support him anymore. And then you have the Batch, who are all shown together. They are a family, a unit, they have each other there for support and despite everything being thrown at them, they will always have the squad.
I also appreciate the contrast in lighting. With Crosshair, everything is blue and grey and cold, while the lighting around the Batch is warm and yellow and comforting. It shows how calming and welcoming the environment with the Batch is, while Crosshair is currently alone and away from any of the warmth of his family.
One Final Point
Echo's little "you did good" nod to Wrecker at the end has my heart and is one of my favourite moments in the entire show <3
(Also, Hunter's face in the picture above made me laugh)

🍄Decriscribe your wip/one of your wips in the format of “___ + ___ =___”
⚠️Which wip your most likely to finish or update next?
🖍Post Any sentence from your wip
❤️Not a question, just a second kudos to send.
🍄: I guess now is a good time as any to reveal I am working on an original novel! It has been years in the making with a lot of me just brainstorming ideas for the world but if I had to narrow it down: grim fantasy + cosmic horror = actually, a story about how love triumphs over everything.
⚠️: Oh man. I always have so many ideas floating around my little brian so I'm always just chipping away at individual projects. The novel mentioned above won't be anywhere near finished anytime soon, not even sure how I would want to go about sharing it either but those are all problems for later (older) me. That thang don't even have a title yet. Ideally I would like to finish the next part to Witcher, Poet, King, my series that follows my witcher OC. Realistically, however, I think the next thing will be "Call in the Wind" a short story about my dunmer OC, Lazarus and his adventure in Skyrim, or the ever-changing fic about my dunmer dragonborn, Helon, which I have titled "Ashblind".
🖍 I also won't let a single sentence limit me. Here is a passage from "Call in the Wind" featuring Lazarus and Kaidan, from the Kaidan follower mod:
After ordering food and reserving a space to sleep, Lazarus continued, in a low voice. "House Hlaalu were seen as traitors after the Oblivion Crisis, Houses Redoran, Telvanni, and Dres blaming them for sending our forces out of Morrowind to support the Empire. They were replaced by House Sadras, my house. Or, at least, it was the one I was born into. The fact these dunmer still recognize House Hlaalu, and regard the empire kindly, is odd to me. Like they are stuck in their own reality."
"Ulfric hasn't shown them much kindness since his rule," Kaidan said. "So I don't blame some of them for becoming hopeful the Empire will throw him out." Drinks were brought to their little table, Kaidan murmuring his thanks to their server. Lazarus sipped on his ale, it was cheap and watered down, but it still warmed him. “What’s in Riften, anyways?” Kaidan asked. “Why there?”
Lazarus hesitated to answer. “I have a living relative there, I’m hoping she can help me find my father,” He looked down into his mug.
Kaidan waved. “If its too personal, you don’t have to spell it out for me.”
Lazarus shook his head. “If you’re going to be accompanying me, I might as well. Besides his name, there are only two things I know about him. One, he was of House Hlaalu. Two, by all official records, he died long before I was ever conceived. Since my mother passed away, I made it my mission to find him. Get answers for why he left, who he really is. I don’t even know if the name I have for him is an alias or not.”

Can I ask questions 4, 18, 21, and 46?
Hi there, Anon-friend! Thank you so much for the ask and for playing the fic writer's ask game!
I've answered your questions below the cut. 😊 Cheers!! 💕
4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?
Gosh I wish I knew lol. Sometimes they are just completely random, but I would say most of the time they stem from conversations I have whether online or irl and wanting to bring some of those great discussion points to life. Most of my Black Clover fanfictions for instance, were heavily inspired by the deep discussions a friend of mine irl and I would have as we were binging the series together. The wip I have currently been working on was heavily inspired by some silly headcanons about OMORI characters watching Friends (which was a huge cultural phenomenon in the 90s and early 2000s when the game takes place). 😅
Another big inspiration for me is music. I write stories inspired by songs all the time.
18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?
It really depends on the story and the type of title. For my most recent fanfiction "A Ceiling Made of Stars" I picked the title long before I even started writing the story and ended up incorporating the phrase into the prose. Other titles I choose based on a line from the story that sticks out to me while I'm drafting it (i.e. "Beside Every Closed Door Is An Open Window," "For What It's Worth," & "We Make Our Own Destiny").
Some titles are from song titles or lines from songs that inspired the story, and these are either chosen before writing (i.e. "Maybe My Soulmate Died") or afterwards (i.e. "Am I Ready For Love? Or Maybe Just A Best Friend"). Then there are some that are titled from a line in the work that was also inspired by music (i.e. "I Can Hear Music," "A World Without You," & "Tackle The Monsters") and those tend to be chosen as soon as that particular line is written.
I'll admit I was kind of curious of the breakout so I went to my AO3 and here's my top 3 types of fic titles ranked first, second, and third based on frequency:
1st: Related to the story and/or a line in the story (Serious)
2nd: From the title of a song or the line of a song
3rd: Related to the story and/or a line in the story (Cheeky/Joking Titles)
21. Would you ever collaborate with another writer for a story?
Absolutely! I have had the pleasure to collaborate with other writers before, and I always try to give credit for inspiration where it is due. Most of these collaborations were/are just swapping ideas, headcanons, or proofreading works, but I have tried co-authoring before which has also been fun. Most of these co-authoring projects were written with my irl friends (years ago when I wasn't putting my writing online), and the few co-authoring projects I've written with my online friends/other online fic writers which could conceivably have been posted have never really come to fruition enough to be posted, unfortunately. That said, the lovely @randomsprinkles and I have collaborated on a couple projects that have actually made it to AO3, but we don't co-author in the traditional sense: she does the art (and/or helps with worldbuilding and editing, occasionally dialogue) and I do the writing! 😊
It's actually kind of funny you asked this question, Anon-friend, because I was just laughing with someone irl about my first ever co-authored fic. Back when I was in high school, one of my best friends and I thought it would be fun to make up an OC and write a fic for a certain comicbook fandom I haven't thought about in years. The problem was that my friend wanted her to end up with one canon character and I wanted her to end up with a different canon character (and our individual chapters absolutely reflected that lol). Needless to say it was an absolute hot mess and never finished (and thankfully never published anywhere. I don't even think I have a copy of it anymore). So my big piece of writing advice for all collaborations is pick your ships early and make sure you agree on them! 😉
46. How would you describe your style? (Character/emotion/action-driven, etc)
Character driven 100%--though sometimes emotion driven in so far as the emotions relate to the characters. I am and always have been a character-driven reader/watcher/media consumer, so that's something I always really try to focus on in my own writing. I struggle a lot when I'm responsible to moving a whole plot along (probably one of the main reasons I don't usually like writing multi-chapter fics).

I keep forgetting to write my thoughts about Part 8 (Jojolion). I don't have anything in particular to talk about, but as a resident Part 7 hater (/ex), I feel like I should give my poor followers an idea what my opinions are this time around.
I will try my best to make what follows spoilers free, however, it will include Part 6 (Stone Ocean) spoilers. Further Parts spoilers will be under the cut.
I clearly enjoyed it a lot better than Part 7. I kept dropping Part 7, which is not super typical of me (and didn't match how I enjoyed Part 6 either), and I had to regularly force myself to stop reading Part 8. I wish it could have been longer, because like other people pointed out, the ending wound up feeling a tad rushed.
I think Part 8 particularly shined at the start. I was pleasantly surprised to find out this part everyone always refused to tell me a single thing about was actually - and simply - a Mystery. The initial mysteries made brilliant use of the pre-conceived notions the reader would definitely have from having read or watched Part 4 in the past. Although I'm not fond of "canon AUs" which is exactly what everything past Part 6 is, Part 8 didn't have constant reminders of that element, and as I just said, made good use of its renewed use of a certain setting and certain characters. The "main family" of new characters also highly benefited from this format.
Unfortunately, this good use of mystery sort of weaned out as time went and the main mission was made clear. That being said, I enjoyed the specific placement/rhythm of certain flashbacks that revealed the truth about a certain mystery to the reader.
I liked Jousuke (I don't even know why people call him Gappy and at this point I'm too afraid to ask, so what I'm using to differenciate him from the first Josuke is a supplementary U... a wonder, truly), and I wish his - and everyone else's - definite autism remained obvious throughout the story. Yeah!! Fight me about it!!! He's a sweet and a strong little guy.
I was a bit underwhelmed by Yasuho, but not everyone can be Jolyne, so it's fine, I guess. She's nice, and her relationship with Jousuke is very pleasant. I think she's realistic and her "not so bizarre" experience is not an uninteresting addition to the story. You eventually get a glimpse of what was bizarre beneath the surface, and it's giving me food for thought. It did bother me how easily she was just sexually harassed or even assaulted - the justification is weak, and I don't like how casually this just. Happens. To fictional characters who happen to be women.
The following will contain spoilers for Part 8.
I was mostly underwhelmed by the ending. If the Kira family had to lose everything, I wish it could have been a bit more... ... or just, addressed at all. I definitely see how the ending scene, with the Higashikata family, is bittersweet, and I actually like that aspect - how Jousuke is included too. I think a stronger image of both Yoshikage and Kei, maybe in the past, had been shown. (If Part 8 ever gets animated, please give me this, the way Foo Fighters was added at the end of Part 6 👍 thanks.) Rai, too, but I definitely feel like there's an obvious reason to include an implication of how Yoshikage would have felt about this. (Which could be passionating, by the way. Though I'm obviously biased - was he ready to give up everything when he sacrificed his life to free Josefumi? Did he understand there was no winning then? I would take a short image of Yoshikage accepting Part 8's tragic outcome!)
Kei? Btw? Bestie they gave you nothing. What the fuck.
Something that is missing about Kaato, who is a very interesting character, is information about whether she was blindsided by the Higashikata family's curse. Did she know it before marrying Norisuke, or before getting pregnant with Joubin? Or was she only told when it was too late? I think whether she was blindsided or changed her mind should be an important part of characterisation. Both can make for great stories.
I guess for my own mental health, I will try to ignore the well-known loose ends in this part. Though I'm curious how they wound up being left behind - if Araki was genuinely rushed, or if he changed his mind about having certain things be canon, etc. (Karera bothers me... When did she take that photo. Where did she go. What)
Hato was literally the only nice person in the Higashikata family, lol. I'm curious how Norisuke, who's characterised as literally. Nice. Managed to raise such bad kids.
I might just be getting bored of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's tendency to end on a rather extreme bittersweet note. "So many people die, but there's some good 😊" The bad often outweighs the good to me, and maybe it's just getting old. Though it could be interesting to compare how Part 7 ended, with the Jojo protagonist "winning" while Gyro lost it all, to how Part 8 did, with the Jojo protagonist actually losing his fight, while someone else gets the "win". Or maybe both stories just want to say that the Higashikata family keeps winning.
I think that's all I have to say for right now? I mean, I've made it obvious I fell in love with Kira, right? Don't ask me why, I don't know.
I really liked the little doodles in between chapters.
Like I mentioned in some tags earlier today or yesterday, I was thinking of representing Jousuke as a fusion in a Steven Universe style, but having finished the story, I think he's more so "if Greg also had to die to give birth to Steven." They're GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNEEEEE!
Lucy is bestie... ... ... oh and Johnny deserved that. Idiot
Oh yeah, and Tooru was definitely a character. I think Yasuho's point of view of him interests me more than he does at the moment.
