Doma Art Party 2023 Afterword
So, I think maybe it might be corny for me to do something like a thank you or an open letter or an afterword so to speak for an art party. And normally, I think I'd have not bothered. But considering this was my first ever attempt at hosting one, and that it was for a deeply important experience in my life...I believe it to be warranted here.
I am happy to say that the art party was to my eyes, a wonderful success. It was nice to experiment with the idea of having a more activity-oriented art party, and I have a good idea of what to do next time to improve on the formula without feeling overwhelming; after all, art parties are ultimately for vibing and hanging out; and boy were we.
And yes, many kisses were had, and the goodbyes were bittersweet; but not sad. And thus, I will give thanks. More below.
Thank you to everyone that helped me celebrate something very important to me. This last year has been a whirlwind for me, in mostly rather wonderful ways. I finally managed to finally let go of some of the things that were haunting me, I was more easily able to reconcile with, accept, and grow from my past. I picked up the pieces of a lot of parts of my life I didn't feel I had agency in, and it was all because of what I felt playing through Hien Rijin's story arc in FFXIV Stormblood. It was great fun to organize, and It was really nice to be able to celebrate that in some way with all of you-- some of which I'd never even met beforehand. I am just. So floored that people wanted to hang out and chat; thank you for handling my tech clumsiness and multi-tasking fails with such grace.
Thank you to everyone that WANTED to be there but couldn't for some reason or another. Thank you to my friend Bri (twt @tenchijins) who helped me craft prizes and coordinate during parts of the event (the shout chats were SO helpful)-- and for being a wonderful rp partner. You are so fucking smart and cool and you love birds so basically you're an angel. Thank you for everything the last couple months. You helped me better understand a part of my identity that I feared facing for so long, and because of it I am happier than I'd ever been about it all.
Thank you to @findenyan and @itsmeowlee for being so active in twitch chat and bein' cute an' funny catboys it was nice to see. Thank you also to @windup-dragoon for hanging out with us on day one (all the kisses to u my friend), Kiri is always a treasure to witness, and @dareva for being so insanely supportive of both my XIV works AND my original comic progress. I hope you are around for years to come.
Thank you to my roommate Cobalt who is the only reason I could even do this, because he was the one that helped me afford to renew my sub, which I didn't realize expired that day before the event. Oh, and also because he has literally been the sole reason i've been able to afford to survive the last couple of years. Hope to be free of it soon, brother! hahaha~
Thank you to @mythiclings for always showing me love, you were one of the biggest reasons I got the courage to start posting my Hien fanworks. And I am so glad that I did.
(Speaking of that, we did this cute little doodle together a little while back that I now have permission to post :'3 Look at these silly guys!!)
Ahem. And then thank you to my roommate aka ShandeeDay. If it weren't for you, i'd have never been able to play FFXIV from the first-- not even to consider all the times you've saved me from the street in my 20s. I love you, man. You saved my life. I would take a bullet for you.
Finally, to all of the people both old and new who have shared my work, shared their work with me, made things with me and just in general showed their support in my presence-- I thank you. Also some of you write some hilariously cute shit in tags. I adore you.
Sorry this was so long. But it was definitely worth writing. I plan to do another next year around the Lunar New Year in March 2024, provided I have no cons to attend. I HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN!! 0/

personal wol infopost
I have three co-Warriors of Light who I write as part of the same universe. they are:
-Ellie Wiltarwyn, female Roegadyn dark knight/monk
-Mia Longhart, female Hyur paladin
-and Lilyana Tsuki, female Miqo'te ninja
Ellie is my main and the one in which I've invested *checks /playtime and despairs* 279 days as of this writing, and the one I do high-end content with -- though Mia is beginning to catch up...
some more personal details below for each!

Elilgeim "Ellie" Wiltarwyn, a flameout from the Studium who found new meaning in her life when the Echo gave her a purpose and directed her to Gridania, where Yda and Papalymo recruit her for the Scions. Throughout the MSQ, she goes from White Mage through ARR, picks up Dark Knight in Heavensward, switches to Reaper for Endwalker, and puts the scythe down for Monk post-Endwalker. It's pronounced VILL-ter-win, like "filter" with a slightly harder nearly-V sound.
Mia Longhart, a refugee from Garlemald with a strong moral compass that drove her to Eorzea to fight against her homeland. She drills in the Gladiator's Guild in Ul'dah until the Echo points her to Thancred, who recruits her for the Scions. Throughout the MSQ, she consistently sticks to Paladin, but learns how to be a White Mage, Samurai, and Bard for party flexibility. To overcome the Garlean inability to wield aether, she works with Cid and his Ironworks to have magitech implants to amplify what the Echo grants her.
Lilyana Tsuki, a Seeker of the Sun miqo'te who refuses to speak of the clan whence she came. She considers herself a stray who's fallen in with the Rogue's Guild in Limsa Lominsa as long as they'll take care of her, which is until the Echo directs her to investigate dangers that catch Y'shtola's eye as well, and she recruits her for the Scions. Throughout the MSQ, she fights with both knives as Rogue and with fists as Monk until she goes missing at the end of ARR and its bloody banquet. She's found by Yugiri in Heavensward and trains as a Ninja, then dips her toe into Astrologian and Dancer as those opportunities become available. She's incredibly snuggly and will curl up for a doze at a friend's side if given the chance.

I have like five more OCs/alts but these are the ones who have the Echo in my personal canon. :3

8/11/23 Edit: this is when I switched Mia's surname from Dragosina (was never really satisfied with that) to Longhart. a) it's a little more in-line with FF names in general, not just XIV's (like y'know, Tifa Lockhart. She's basically the Tifa to Ellie's Cloud...) b) it makes it less obvious she's related to a certain mad Garlean scientist (for some reason, I was stuck on keeping a semblance of "Asina" in her surname, but now I've decided it doesn't matter, and she wants to distance herself) and c) Longhart doesn't actually mean "long heart," long is the Chinese word for dragon, so now her name's "Dragon heart" and I think that owns. 😊
(...I guess it might be a little appropriative for a Garlean citizen to take a name from a culture they've probably conquered, but I don't think it's enough to make it insensitive rather than respectful. Actually... who is the Chinese equivalent in FFXIV? Is it Doma or Yanxia?)

WHAT THEY SMELL LIKE : bubblegum, cigarettes, and expensive perfume
HOW THEY SLEEP : the older she gets, the better she sleeps. she’s been known to tease others by saying she sleeps in the nude if they invite her over, but that isn’t even true -- she has long warm pajama sets for the winter and switches between over sized t-shirts and short/silky nightgowns in the summer.
WHAT MUSIC THEY ENJOY : ghost (obviously), the marías, paramore, jack stauber, the cure, the damned, molchat doma, babymetal, metallica, deftones, iDKHOW, tally hall, chloe moriondo, corpse, sir chloe, mother mother, cigarettes after sex, mitski, marina, etc. :)
HOW MUCH TIME THEY SPEND EVERY MORNING GETTING READY : it 100% depends on who she’s going to see that day, and how she’s feeling. usually around the length of whatever album she has on.
FAVORITE THING TO COLLECT : she always asks friends to bring her back a rock from wherever they travel; she has a little jar full of them. as for collecting herself; she keeps a scrap of fabric from every design she sells. she plans on making an art piece with it; a dress similar to the ones she wore in her commune that’s sewn from her successes after escaping.
LEFT OR RIGHT HAND : she’s done her best to become adept at using both hands, but her right hand is honestly useless most of the time. she usually jots down measurements with her right hand, but anything precise is done with her left.
FAVORITE SPORT : she finds wrestling entertaining; but she loves the costumes ice skaters wear. if she were invited to go to any sports event that wasn’t also a party, she’d decline.
FAVORITE TOURISTY THING TO DO WHILE TRAVELING : eat and buy little souvenirs; she also peruses every shop and/or gallery she can.
FAVORITE KIND OF WEATHER : foggy/overcast; it looks so creepy -- and makes her want to stay inside, watch movies, and do a little self-care
THE ONE CARNIVAL / ARCADE GAME THEY ALWAYS WIN WITHOUT FAIL : arcade-wise, marvel vs capcom 2. carnival-wise, the kissing booth the water gun game.

Breath of Fire 2 (SNES/Switch)
FINALLY. I FINALLY was able to beat a game that I’ve been trying to play since I was a child. Breath of Fire 2 came out originally in 1994, but this was a game I was never able to own so I was never able to complete it until it became available as part of the SNES games available on the Switch (hence the title).
Breath of Fire 2, like the first, is an RPG where you a member of the Dragon Clan/Brood (depending on translation), are going around righting the wrongs in the world. In this case, Demons. You pick up a variety of characters along the way, all with their own backstories that you deal with in order to make your way to the final boss.
This game also has a couple of surprisingly brutal instances in its storyline and I’m saying that after seeing Kefka poison the Doma River in Final Fantasy 6 and you see NPCS dropping left and right. To be honest, that part never really hit me like the instances in BoF2, so if you’re sensitive to dark subjects, maybe this game isn’t for you. Otherwise, it’s a great story.
As it’s on the SNES originally, it contains a lot of amazing pixel art that really shines in the battle sequences where you’re conquering anywhere from small monsters to giant demons trying to come through the floor.
The music is also really good, most songs being used for single locations/sequences, but others surprisingly do repeat in a few select areas.
Just a word of advice. LEVEL ALL OF YOUR CHARACTERS. There will be instances where you have to rely on your least favorite characters or have to have them in your party.
Also, in the Switch online version, being able to save anytime (Create Suspend Point) is amazing. You can also rewind if the battle isn’t going your way XD.
But yeah, 10/10. Great game. Probably won’t play again because it took me like a month or more to beat.

I feel like he really enjoys quiet places
A day at the book store is usually you twos go to date
Just helping each other pick out books
Or finding really funny ones to make fun off
Another date you two go on regularly is to the park with your dog
Just watching you play fetch with her is enough to make Kokushibo laugh to himself
His favorite part about the walks though dont happen until the sun goes down
You two were walking hand in hand through the part
“Hey is something wrong?”
Your question caught him off guard. “Why would you say that love?”
“Well you keep checking your watch like somethings going to happen.”
Knowing you caught him he sighed leading you toward the tunnel of trees
As soon as the clock hit 9 the fairy lights in the tunnel turned on
“Oh so this is why you were in such a hurry.”
Pulling out his phone he put on a slow song and held out his hand
“May I?” “You may.”
And you two danced in the tunnel like you were the only people left on the planet

Did somebody say shopping?
He will buy you anything and everything
Oh you want that new book that your favorite author just dropped?
We’re picking it up right now
You want those shoes?

Want the new video game that’s really hard to get?

He absolutely loves to take you to buy clothes the most though
He pushes you out of your comfort zone in a good way

After taking a deep breath you walked out of the changing room
“Look at yoooouuuuuu.” He squealed. “Do a turn for me won’t you.”
Rolling your eyes you complied to his wishes
“Ah you just look amazing. Yep we’re buying it.”
Yeah dates with Douma are a real confidence boost
Akaza
His dates are usually very chill
He’ll walk around town with you all day if he could
Doing whatever you wanted to do
But there is one time of year that is absolutely necessary for a date
And that my friends is fair time
You two wear matching outfits cause you’re that couple
He definitely makes it his mission to go on all the rides
Even the pirate ship
“Babe just one more time.”
You’ve had to pull him away from things more than once
You two were walking around having just got done eating when a certain clown started flying insults at your boyfriend
“Oh look at the big tough guy.” The clown teased
Of course Akaza ignored him cause he’s got self control like that😌
You two were walking away from the clown until he made a comment
“Oh I see you got a nice looking s/o with you. I would love to take them on a date.”
Yeah all self control out the window
Akaza walked straight up to the dunk booth and paid the vendor
“Come on big guy. Lemme take your lovely s/o on a date.”
Akaza smiled at the clown before hitting the target sending the other in the water
When Akaza came back you laughed
“Seems he got under your skin~”
“I can’t stand assholes like him.”
“Haha my hero.” You say giving him a kiss as a reward

Dates with her are somewhat difficult
Don’t get her wrong, regardless of what you pick she’ll love it
But you really wish she would have some input sometimes
But that aside, stay home dates are more her style
Cuddling on the couch watching a movie, cooking together, self care nights?
The whole package
Absolutely loves when you play with her hair
Makes her soft
Lo-fi music played in the background as you typed away on your computer
Nakime, who just got out the shower, got behind you resting her head on your shoulder

Like Kokushibo, his ideal date would be someplace quiet
But with less people
So he always has weird places to take you
There was this bookstore in this part of town very little people knew about
Or rooftop cafe that served your drinks in the strangest cups
Your favorite thing is when he find small events to take you to
“Sweetheart...I found this new cafe. Would you like to go with me?”
“Of course I will!”
The cafe was a little bigger than the ones you usually went to but not by much
There were plants everywhere, chairs were shaped like teacup mugs, and there were teddy bears of different sizes at each table
“Tengu this is adorable”
“It makes me happy you like it” He gave your hand a soft squeeze before deciding to head to the counter
Gyokko
He’d probably take you to an art museum
Since he himself is an artist he goes there to analyze insult the art pieces
“My art looks way better than whatever this is”
He said that about the Mona Lisa….THE MONA LISA
I actually see him to be a really respected artist in the art world
So he’s constantly being invited to art galleries
Of course he brings you along
Before you two met he went alone and got bored really quickly
None of the art truly caught his eye
But with you there?
He has the absolute time of his life
You two were staring at a painting
“...what is it supposed to be?” You asked tilting your head
“It’s fucking atrocious that’s what it is.”
You laughed at your boyfriend’s comment
The artist having overheard you two didn’t like the comments you were making
He was so fed up he went right up to your boyfriend
“You don’t know the first thing about art. How would you know what looks good?”
Already knowing where this was going you unhooked your arm from your boyfriend
“How would I know? Anyone with eyes can see that this doesn’t deserve to be here. These brush strokes aren’t even going the same way and you have the audacity to yell at me for not knowing anything about art?!”
(please know I know nothing about art so I’m sorry if I offended anyone🥲)
The artist having been embarrassed in front of everyone quickly exited the room
Gyokko wrapped his arm around your waist again smiling
“Ready to go love?”
Kaigaku
Dates with Kaigaku will either be super chill or chaotic
He once took you both to a rage room
It may or may not have ended with either of you crying
Another time he took you to paint pottery
It really depends on how he’s feeling that day
Tonight was going to be a chill night though
You two were laying on a mountain cuddled up on a blanket staring at the stars
“Babe look it’s orion.”
After a few seconds of him not saying anything you raised your brow “Babe?”
You looked over to see him staring at you
“Sorry I was just looking at the prettiest star ever”
You laughed at his horrible pickup line and pecked his forehead
“Thanks babe.”
Gyutaro
(ah the love of my life)
He’s not a guy who would take you to an extravagant restaurant or to walk around in a crowd
Unless that’s really want you want of course
Even then it would take a lot of convincing
You know that he doesn’t see himself that highly
(no baby you’re literally perfect please don’t talk down on yourself🥺)
He would much rather stay at his/your house and vibe
But if you REALLY REALLY want to go out he’ll arrange something
He has a spot he goes to that overlooks the city
It lets him forget his responsibilities for a while
Gyutaro: i’m outside get dressed
You raised your brow at the text but got dressed regardless
Outside he was waiting next to his motorcycle staring at the sky
“Sooo what’re we doing?”
“It’s a surprise. Here.”
He held out one of his hoodies and a helmet
You two drove for about 30 minutes before he stopped on a cliff
“We’re here.”
You walked up to the edge in awe
“Taro it’s….it’s amazing”
He hummed wrapping his arms around you resting his head on your shoulder
Yeah this is all he could ask for
Daki
Did someone say parties?
She 100% sees going to parties together as dates
I mean you get to see her in an amazing outfit
Who wouldn’t want to see that?
Now if this is your scene then there’s nothing to fix
If it’s not you’re going to have to explain that to her
You would probably take her to a flea market
Daki look around the building in utter disgust
“What the fuck? Why are we here?”
“Babe please just trust me.” You gave her a soft smile
Remembering this was supposed to be a 'date' she begrudgingly goes along with it
First you take her to the food section
She’s never seen food like this before so she’s a little hesitant
“...what is that?”
“It’s ox tail. Try it.” Hesitant she ate a piece and omg she absolutely loved it
You walk around some more until you get to the section with the perfume and jewelry
She’s absolutely amazed. They are so many different sizes with different colors.
“I want them all.”
“Babe no-”

X’rhun hummed to himself as he looked through his jewelry box for the garnet cuff links Arya and Bel had gifted to him a moon past, on his name day. He smiled fondly thinking of the wrapping paper that had been decorated with artfully childish drawings of rapiers and roses and the tag that had simply read ‘Father’ in what he recognized as Bel’s best ‘from the office of the Lord Speaker’ handwriting. He glanced at himself in the mirror as he finished settling the cuffs of his shirt. The crows feet at the corners of his eyes had deepened in the eight years since he’d met his girls and he fancied he could name the individual care and laugh lines caused by a pair of daughters who had chosen dangerous trades. He smiled and ran a thumb over one of the cuff links, the title had been the kind of jest that obfuscated a heartfelt sentiment.
Such a family he’d stumbled into that afternoon at the Coin and Coffer the day he and Art’imis had first met.
“Father isn’t a bad look on you lovely.” X’rhun looked up from fussing with his ascot to see Riol standing behind him in the mirror. The spy smiled and stepped forward to kiss his lover’s cheek. “General Tarupin asked Thancred and I to double check the security measures for the Sultana's birthday party. We just finished. ”
X’rhun turned around to claim a proper kiss from the other man. “That will help put Art’imis’s mind to rest.”
“Don’t blame her,” Riol’s easy smile vanished as bitter memories surfaced briefly. “That was… a bad night.”
X’rhun brushed his thumb across Riol’s cheek.
“Papashan must have been put out by that request.”
“Papashan can put on big boy pants and deal with it.” Riol said flatly. He leaned into X’rhun’s touch and suddenly his smile came back, “I’m afraid I have bad news from the adventurer’s guild though.”
The Miqo’te mage arched an eyebrow and let his hand drop only for Riol to catch it and lace their fingers together. The blond’s smile became a grin. “I’m afraid you've been ousted as the guild’s favorite discreet bodyguard and arm candy for formal occasions.”
X’rhun put a hand to his chest to mime a heart attack the effect was spoiled by the amusement in his eyes though, “Say it’s not so! Who could they possibly replace me with.”
“The Ashley twins.” Riol laughed.
“I thought they were in Doma?” X’rhun straightened up from his play acting and pulled away from Riol so that he could retrieve his frock coat from its hanger.
“Just got back a month ago, evidently they got themselves some shinobi training out East.”
“And they’ve ousted me?” X’rhun shook his head and chuckled. “Serves me right for not checking in for jobs more often I suppose.”
“Nah, Momondi said there’d be too much drama given how you and Art are anything but subtle. Evidently she’s forcing them to go to the weaver’s for fashion lessons.”
“Oh that would be something to see.” X’rhun paused for a moment to admire the embroidery on the short coat. Black embroidery on black fabric added texture without calling attention to what the designs were, and scattered here and there were tiny blood red crystals with such clarity that the black silk beneath could be seen. Acramina arrays for aether acceleration and control, protection from the elements as well as blunt force trauma. He wondered how Redolent Rose had coaxed an arcanist away to come join the weavers. And for that matter he’d gotten his hands on what he knew where crystals being grown in a going experiment between the Goldsmiths, Alchemists, Arcanists, and Thaumaturges, and Godbert Manderville. (On second thought it had probably been Manderville). The coat layered over a closely fitted waist coat of deep red silk cross woven with ebony black. Here the arrays had been embroidered with glittering gold work and the same red crystals as the coat.
“Redolent really did outdo himself this time,” Riol didn’t bother to hide how much he admired the cut of the pants and how much it flattered X’rhun’s ass. “Still glad it’s you two and not me rubbing elbows with Ul’dah’s elite.”
“I remember something about the Admiral banning you from formal events?” X’rhun chuckled and turned just enough that Riol could see all he wanted.
Riol grinned but didn’t elaborate on the rumor. Instead he stepped around to X’rhun’s front to straighten the lay of the frockcoat’s collar. He moved to straighten the ascot and got his fingers smacked for his trouble. “I love you dearly Riol but there are toddlers that could tie a better ascot or cravat than you.”
The blond hyur pouted, “Are you impugning my fashion sense?”
“That would imply there was one to start with.” X’rhun said, dry as the Sangolii. He offered a courtly arm to his lover and Riol linked their elbows like a farmer and his wife walking to market. The mage laughed and kissed the rouge’s cheek. “Let’s go see if the girls are done fussing with our kitten yet.”
Riol laughed and motioned for X’rhun to take the lead, “Lead the way dear Nuhn.”
They laughed and teased each other as they went to find their missing lover.

1. What's your favorite song of the year? Okay so of course I cannot decide, so I have three ahah the first one that came to my mind is Rina Sawayamas cover of Enter Sandman! The energy is just amazing. Second is The Art of Dying by Gojira, which I think is just a heavy piece of art. And as of yesterday I am absolutely obsessed with The Mysterious Vanishing of Electra by Anna von Hausswolff, another piece of art imo!!
5. comfort album/song/artist? My comfort artist is pretty much always Day6! I smile, when you love someone, hi hello, be lazy, best part and so on and so forth every song of theirs can be a comfort song
16. What's your favorite artist you got into this year? Okay so I listen to a lot of music and once again there are quite a lot and I can't decide. This year I started to seriously listen to Kate Bush and I'd definitely recommend listening to her less popular songs as well, like Get Out Of My House and Breathing are so good. I also got more into Depeche Mode, same situation as with Kate Bush. Also, Eggplantegg (which I know you know <3), Weyes Blood, No Party for Cao Dong, Big Thief, Molchat Doma, Japanes Breakfast (omg Be Sweet for question 1 as well!)
This could have been shorter, but to be honest it also could've been longer, because I'm absolutely capable of writing essays on these songs and artist ahah anyways thanks again and I hope you have a good new years! 💗💗💗

FFVI as a D&D Campaign:
OK, so I've been watching "Critical Role" (Campaign 1, Episode 31, no spoilers!) a LOT lately and it got me thinking how FFVI (arguably the BEST "Final Fantasy" game out there) is essentialy that. The biggest moments could be atributted to CRAZY rolls! I can see each of the characters being played by one of the people at the table!
* Marisha as Terra Branford: Would be phenomenal. Her mentality is kinda in-line with Keyleth's. The "Kill Their Own Emotions" moment in the boat shakes the table as a whole. And when it's time to run an orphanage and protect her kids from Humbaba, the emotion in her voice destroys everyone in the Party. The "Mama?" moment becomes the most fan-arted moment for her character until the final fight. Her Trance ability is agreed to be the coolest looking skill at the table. To say nothing of the way she'd react to the whole Slave Crown bussiness!
Matt: "She killed 50 imperial soldiers in a few minutes."
Marisha, and the whole table: *S H A K I N G*
* Taliesin as Locke Cole: "Treasure Hunter!" every single time somebody calls him a thief or a rogue. The "Rachel" story would be absolutely heartbreaking with Taliesin's expressions. The solo-sneak through the town while meeting Celes would be one of the highlights of the Campaign... That and his frienship with Terra would only be accentuated by Taliesin's and Marisha's irl friendship. Not to mention him puking on the ship would serve as some comedic timing straight out of "Critical Role"! Also, "That bow looks good on you" LAUNCHES the ship to heights undreamt of.
* Sam as Edgar Figaro: I mean, COME ON! IT WRITES ITSELF! Besides, it would be enjoyable to see him use his -Artificer- Machinist abilities as creatively as he does! Can you IMAGINE him rolling high enough one day and then he just creates the Noiseblaster? And with that he pulls out the microphone every time he uses it and proceeds to shout some thing Scanlan would be proud of... Not to mention his friendship with Sabin would be amazing if played by Sam! "The little shrimp has become a mighty Lobster!" You can HEAR Sam Riegel's voice come out of that! And the two headed coin? Now THAT's a Scanlan! This without mentioning the violations of the Geneva Convention that the Bioblaster would certainly entail...
* Laura as Celes Chere: I mean, OBVIOUSLY. Meeting Locke in the dungeon? The apparent betrayal? THE OPERA HOUSE?! "I'm a former General, not some... Opera floozy!" TELL ME you don't hear Laura Bailey saying that! And then she rolls a Natural 20 on performance and EVERYONE looses their shit! Her Runic ability is the target of MANY close saves. Also, the way Locke and Celes' interactions happen, she'd be perfect opposite Taliesin. The chat on the bridge in Albrook? HEARTSTOPPING. The attempted suicide? You KNOW Matt would call the sesion there!
* Travis as Sabin Figaro: This one was obvious. Monk/Barb that gets mistaken for a bear, and acts like an absolute teddy bear around Terra? Yes. Gods above, YES. "You think a tiny thing like the end of the world was going to be enough to keep me down?" You heard Grog too, right? The moments would be worth MILLIONS. The Opera house and Travis going "Why is everyone singing?" and then getting more and more into it! Him holding up the house for Celes! "MISTER THOU"... But best of all, and probably the single most famous Sabin moment EVER, The Phantom Train:
Matt: The train tracks suddenly lurch to the side. Even after this long and hard-fought battle it seems *chukles* it seems this train isn't letting you get away with your lives. That brings us to you, Travis!
Travis, on his 5000 IQ shit: I grapple the train.
Entire Table: ARE YOU FUCKING NUTS?!?!
Matt: No way in hell are you gonna- You know what? Roll for it. *Picks up dice for the Train*
Taliesin: He's dead. He's so fucking dea-
Travis: NATURAL 20.
Entire Table: *Silent disbelief, everyone looks at Matt*.
Matt: *Also in disbelief* ...Rolled a 1.
Entire Table: *Inintelligeble gasping and hyperventilating*
Travis: I'm going to use my last Blitz as Meteor Strike and suplex the Train!
Matt: *Looking at the sheet, knowing damn well what's about to happen* Go ahead and roll for damage...
Travis: *Rolls for damage*
Matt: *Braces for impact* How do you wanna do this?
Entire Table and the Internet: *EXPLODES*
The Fanart keeps coming, even YEARS after the Campaign is done...
* Liam as Setzer Gabbiani: Since he's LITERALY "Mister Steal Your Girl", I think Liam would be PERFECT. Just imagine him getting set up as this suave and smooth rougue who wanted to kidnap a beautiful singer and then gets Laura instead! (Which isn't entirely wrong...) IMAGINE his expresions and his dissapearing under the table laughing as the others barely climb aboard The Blackjack. THE ENTIRE PARTY giving him shit for a low roll on a Wisdom Check (the double-headed coin) and him segwaying that into joining the party, only to find out that he actually knew all along... Priceless. The total and undistilled heartbreak as his ship falls apart, him trying to reach out for Terra and everyone falling on different places. And then meeting Celes a year later and doing the whole Daryll story... Liam would be the one to steal the audience every time he takes the spotlight! Though he would be a little like Percy in the sense that he doesn't get much to do until his arc happens.
"Money, Money, Money!" every time he throws coins to attack, the loaded dice (in character, not at the table?) and the card throws would make him so stylish in a D&D setting I'll be surprised if somebody hasn't done it already.
* Ashley as Relm Arrowny: She takes forever to join because of her constantly being away for filming, but once she's here? HOO BOY, does the fun keep coming! Her paintings coming alive and helping them fight? Her giving Sam shit for Edgar's love life? "Fuddy-Duddy!" becoming A Thing? All of those moments would be hilarious... But probably her most notorious moment comes when they find her a year later, serving a posessed brush, telling her to paint, paint, paint under the Magic House... "Keep painting until I'm complete..." The party snaps her out of it before she finishes the greatest painting she's ever done, her Magnum Opus, and then the painting coming alive prematurely in order to force her to finish... To give her form. And then the Lakshmi boss fight happens...
Matt: And with the last of her strength gone, the banshee-like apparition dissipates into mist, and before any of you can react, Relm's magic brush begins to glow, like it had when you first came in here. The glow slowly creeps off the hairs and darts! Off towards the mistified form of it's mistress, enveloping itself into a thicc layer on top of the mist, swirling around... and around and around.
Ashley: Oh god, now what?
Matt: The colors dissipate, and Lakshmi unleashes a terrible wail! *DM monster noises* As it is now joined with this colorful cloud... And it compresses, smaller and smaller... And more solid until it's not mist anymore.
Marisha: *Gets it* ¡WAIT A MINUTE!
Travis: *Exited* ¡OH SHIT, HOLD ON!
Matt: The fog dissipates... And the calm returns to Relm's senses. Ashley you are now holding an innert, ordinary paint brush. However! Floating in the air, you see a crystal with a small glowing core, the particular essence of Life embeded in the middle, Terra you *points at Marisha* feel this and recognize it instantly, as it falls to the ground, and bounces a couple times... A brand new shard of Magicite.
Party: *FERAL LOOTING*
"Lakshmi" becomes the most PAINFUL fanart to make, and it's ALWAYS the one that's valued the most among the fandom.
The rest of the Party (Strago, Umaro, Mog, Cyan, Gau and GoGo) can be the guests that come over every once in a while (I particualrly see Wil Wheaton as Strago Magus, Mary McGlynn as GoGo and Will Friedle as Clyde "Shadow" Arrowny) with Shadow coming and going with the excuse that "His contract is up" (and let's face it, after surviving/witnessing the Phantom Train? My contract would be up too...) and coming back whenever his schedule/the plot allows.
Eventually, everyone comes together for one last session and the battle with God Kefka. Setting their affairs in order, the reveal of who Shadow really is during a lone chat with Strago shakes the Critters to their core. Everything makes sense! Why Interceptor went straight to Relm when they met... Why his nightmares kept showing a village of magic users, yet they never mention Shadow in Thamasa! The group is RATTLED and wether or not he survives at the end becomes a HEATED argument between everyone at the table. Only Strago knows the truth...
The sendoff on The Falcon with everyone saying goodbye and seeing what the World will bring next is regarded as one of the most emotional scenes in "Critical Role" history...
But the most completely DESTRUCTIVE force in this entire cast is Matt Mercer as Kefka Palazzo:
The personality... the narrative... The absolute slime in his voice when he poisons Doma. When he kills Leo and brings forth the Light of Judgement. Matt definitely has his moments playing Ultros. He's fun! And Emperor Ghestal was more of a political "Darth Sidious" villain. But Kefka? OH, LORD. NOBODY was ready for Kefka. "Enjoy the barbicue!" gets memed to no end, while also sending a horrible shiver down people's spine whenever somebody brings it up. Truly, the villain to end all villains.
I can see it happen so vividly... If anybody wants to talk about this more, PLEASE hit me up! This just feels too good!
Until off course the party moves on to their next Campaign in the setting for "Final Fantasy 5" but that's a whole OTHER can of worms!
