Something I've noticed is that no matter what fandom or community we are in—black people will always always have to make a safe space for ourselves. Every single fandom I was in there were always black people being treated badly by white people and nonblacks and everytime we spoke on it we are told that we are either making it up or causing problems/discourse.

Even in the LGBTQ+ community where niggas preach about being sooo accepting we have to make *our own flags and spaces because we get talked over and forgotten so damn much. You look up queer related stuff and white people show up first (try the trans selfie tag or look up androgynous stuff on pinterest.) You look up queer shows and it's only white people with a black side character or a white person x a black person like we can't exist on our own. White queers calling black people cops for being uncomfortable with certain labels.

Even with fictional black characters they get the same treatment. Marina from Splatoon 2 and Hobie Brown from Spiderman both are victims of nonblack people hypersexualizing them and masculinizing them. Xinyan from Genshin Impact is a complete and utter stereotype of black people—being seen as aggressive and mean and a literal theft. Don't get me started on how yall whitewash the fuck outta them. It's either sexualize them, whitewash them or forget about them completely.

For some reason white people are seen as more aesthetically pleasing compared to Black people and when we look up aesthetics we literally have to type in "black person x aesthetic" or afro punk or afro goth despite us being the creators of some of these aesthetics. Same with cosplaying, white peoples cosplays are seen as more "canon" compared to black people or even people who's race is literally the character being cosplayed.

Fanfiction writers constantly cater to white people despite trying to market their stuff as "inclusive" while black people get shitted on for making character x black reader fics and don't you know weird ass white people still read them??

Yall tell us to make our own things instead of "complaining" about it and we do, then we get hit with death threats and hate. We make our black edits and get told that it's "blackwashing" and the artists get called the n word, we make black movies and our actors get death threats. We make our own original black art with our black OC'S and get told that we're being selfish and "racist" for not drawing other people. We literally cannot exist without you people hating on us and unnecessarily critiquing us.

[Note: If you nonblack or white niggas come up here and being like "well acschually op🤓☝🏾" I will actually hurt you. If you ask "why is this in the x tag" I will hurt you as well. You try n derail and make it about a different race I'm hurting you.]

I post art sometimes and make nonsense posts.

Name tags are exclusively my original characters. I don't tag any characters for fandoms, as I'm not really in any fandoms.

My interests/hobbies: Writing, drawing, comics/manga, and Video games (splatoon, terraria, minecraft, free mmo type games).

My projects:

+: My main project. Currently on my tenth draft of it that makes pretty significant changes to the plot, structure, and characters. It's about a group of young adults trying to find out what happened to two of their friends who went missing.

I really like + and i enjoy talking about it more than any other project. I've been working on it since late 2015 so there are a lot of different versions of it. The most important drafts (ones I talk about the most) are draft 2, 7, 8, 9 and the most current one 10. Draft 6 is also relevant because it is the worst version that has written content. Drafts 1, 3, 4, and 5 most exist as notes and art, draft 1 is entirely physical comics I drew in 2015, so I don't have much to say about them.

If you're curious about any specifics about the project, please feel free to ask questions about it! I'm currently trying to motivate myself to write out comprehensive character information and make full designs for a lot of the characters.

When talking about specific aspects of + drafts I try to tag the draft (example: draft 9 +) and any characters discussed. This is mainly for me and a lot of them are contextualized fully because they're for me, but if you wanna look you can :)

Characters: David, Chris, Valentine, Eli, Clementine, Madi, Olive, Jay, Jaxson, Evan, Vincent, Vanessa, and a few more, but the main ones you'll be hearing about on my blog are the first 5 listed.

She Saw: My comic based on an old draft of +, draft 2. A 3 and half part long story about a lesbian who finds the dead body of one of her best friend's boyfriends and gets sucked into a conflict involving that, all the while experiencing high school and seeing horrific visions. What is complete of it is posted on tumblr and DA as well as a few other comic sites? I believe. If you're interested its @shesawcomic, I haven't worked on completing it since 2019.

If your curious about the + connection, every character in She Saw has a direct analog in draft 2 + character. The main character, who's name isn't revealed until the end of the current part, is Veronica (now Madi) from +, Faith is Valentine, the unnamed boy is Daemion (now David), Terrance is Chris (arguably also Eli, they are interchangeable in draft 2), Mary is Mary, Kate is Kathy. There was an additional character who was not revealed at the time I stopped writing, and was the only character without a + analog, though her situation could be based on a number of characters I've written before. Everything I write is derivative of itself.

Characters: Her (shesaw), him (shesaw), Terrance, Faith, Mary, Kate. (All of them got finished refs this summer :D)

WWW: New project. A comic based on an old draft of +, draft 2, 3, and 4. Unlike She Saw, which sought to recreate the high school segment of draft 2 (a, if I am remembering correctly, 16 page long section) WWW seeks to replicate and add on to the main plot of draft 2, taking into consideration traits added to the characters after that draft. The comic is about Cici who lives in the middle of nowhere on a dairy farm separated from the rest of society until a woman named Juliet comes and helps him escape. Juliet, a woman obsessed with obscure religious groups, practices, and magic, convinces Cici help her work towards her goal of achieving immortality. Unfortunately, when they do achieve something, it's not a glamorous as Juliet described it to be. - WWW is an abbreviation of a test/temporary name that might not stick.

Similar to She Saw, WWW characters also has connections to + characters, but they're really obvious in my mind so i'm just choosing to have that be a funny thing that people who know + characters would notice.

Characters: Cici, Juliet, Sammy.

Seagull: Another newer project. A comic/short story about a half wolf half human man who's sent to work and live on a "lighthouse" in the middle of the ocean to keep watch for "something in the water". He quickly discovers that his lighthouse has attracted a strange angel that resembles the seagulls.

Characters: Jupiter, Seagull (haven't named him yet), Coral

For the 3 projects that are not + listed above, I'm happy to answer any questions! WWW is my main focus aside from +, She Saw is in limbo, and Seagull is kind of a side project.

Hi hi!!

So recently I've gotten just a tiny amount of attention recently (which is so awesome cool yippee!) And I've decided to make a little about/get to know me type post so that way I feel a little bit more transparent and you guys get to know me a little better!

Introduction

So as everyone knows my name is Clover! But I have two other names too, Clementine and Dustin. I don't have a preference for these names at all but if you had to ask me which one was my favorite I'd have to choose Clementine lol. But no matter what you can call me any of those names!

I am 18 years old (though everyone both online and irl automatically assume I'm in my 20's I have no idea how and why I'm literally the silliest creature) and my pronouns are they/she, again I don't have a preference to which pronoun is used so feel free to pick one

A little bit more about me

I know I don't have to share this but I feel since my dms are open to anyone it should be at least shared! I have ADHD and Autism, it sometimes does make talking a little bit harder, as sometimes i will forget to respond and if I do just message me again, I promise you're not bothering I'm just forgetful. I also do tend to have a "wait your turn to talk" issue (which has improved greatly but still there lol) but that goes more so for like a VC type deal (which I am open to those too)

Secondly, I don't have much as far as DNI (other than the basics like if you're an asshole, racist, any kind of hateful phobic yahda yahda) but if you are 15 or below please do not interact with me personally (I would also advise to not interact with my page). The only trigger I have is real world pregnancy stuff, anything that has to do with irl pregnancy I really don't want to hear it, it makes me feel uncomfortable. I would also appreciate it if you use tone indicators, if you don't that's fine and dandy but sometimes i will ask if something is a joke or sarcasm.

Even though I reread this book like every 6 months, I only just now caught on to this during my current reread given the recent news. So, for anyone else who was curious/forgot about this like me, Myra mentions her cousin shortly before Colonel Whiteleaf's attempted coup.

Very fascinating to see that the "exiled dwarven prince" mentioned in the announcement post presumably came and studied at the camp too! I can't wait to learn more about him, Myra my beloved, and the dwarves :O

i know not many people would want to read a 10,000 word article about the minecraft end poem and how the author, Julian Gough, was never fairly compensated for his work and has made it public domain.

But it's a very well-written and heartfelt read, and he makes it very clear that none of this is a cash-grab and despite the fact that he is essentially a starving artist in this capitalist society, he only mentions his financial struggles despite Minecraft's huge huge success at the bottom of this article and not in the tweets so as to not dilute his message.

Anyway, I just think it'd be cool if those who are able to could support him in some way whether it be subscribing to his substack or donating to his paypal (that's linked in the article, you can ctrl + F to find it easier), that's all.

playing Elden Ring as someone completely naive to the Souls series has been amazing because these games absolutely do their own thing with exploration and narrative that no other recent games even attempt

You'll find a unique boss that summons skeletal feet to kick you and go online to see what the fuck that was all about and someone will say "ah yes that was Gleipnir the Thousand-Toed, you learn about him from the Pissant Soldier's Shoehorn talisman that you can only get from a bathroom stall at the literal other end of the map. But picking it up locks you into the Tumultous Toesucker ending if you don't already have the Insoles of Immunity"

Good Kids:

Patton Pascal- Son of Rapunzel- His hair has the same magical properties Rapunzel's had, he uses special scissors to cut them since he doesn't like his hair being too long. There will be some days where he's too tired to cut his hair, it's a daily chore since his hair grows at a fast rate overnight. He has brown hair and green eyes, he has rectangular glasses and wears a golden flower crown. Patton wears a grey sweater that has many types of flower patterns down the sleeves, he wears khakis and no shoes. He is a happy go lucky guy who thinks brightly about the world, however, reality hits him little by little and he realizes the world is a messed up place. Patton and Logan are betrothed and have been since they were kids. Patton helps bring out the emotions in Logan and Logan helps bring out the rationality in Patton. Roman and Patton are close friends who are both on the track team. Patton and Remy get along nine times out of ten, the other one time out of ten is when Patton lectures him about not sleeping. Patton is around 5'7

Remy Bubbler- Son of Ariel- Remy is a half merman with a caffeine addiction, when he was younger he had sleep paralysis and it scared him into staying awake. He eventually found comfort in coffee, since he couldn't really talk to anyone about it he just bottled it up. There are some days he can't speak due to Ursula cursing him when he was five, that was because he talked to her son, Emile. Remy inherited his dad's black hair but his mother's blue eyes, his hair is a bit poofy. Remy wears a black leather jacket with a white shirt that says 'Sleep is for the weak, and I'm weak so see you in a week' and every time someone goes to read it he says "my eyes are up here". Coincidentally he wears glasses to cover his eyes from the sun, he has scaly freckles that shimmer in the sunlight and when he blushes they flare pink. He says "what up bishes" at least three times a day, unless he can't speak, then he signs it. Oh, and Remy is 5'11

Roman White- Son of Snow White- Roman, surprisingly, is really tan and fit. He's on the track team with Patton and he's always active outside whether it's putting on small plays for the children in town square or hanging out with his friends. Roman also knows a few languages such as Spanish and French, he was born into a big family consisting of six brothers and a cat named Acorn. He absolutely despises apples and prefers red grapes instead. Roman is tall, taller than Remy but shorter than Logan. Roman is about 6'1 with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He often wears a white button up shirt with a red vest over the top, he wears black dress pants and dress shoes. Roman always wants to stand out and he really cares what others think about him, that all goes out the window when he meets Virgil. Surprisingly, the two have a lot more in common than they thought.

Logan Rose- Son of Belle- Logan is a well read kid who's betrothed to Patton and he wouldn't have it any other way. However, one thing has been bugging him the more he studied the past fairy tales, the villains kids were never given a chance. So he decided that his first decree as future king is that let the kids from the island come to school with them. Logan is 6'2, he wears a long black sleeved shirt with a blue tie, he also wears black jeans with dress shoes. He has circular glasses, he has brown eyes with light brown hair. No matter what he can't keep his hair tame, it bothers him all the time but Patton help brush and style it. He also carries around an enchanted rose, he doesn't know what's going to happen when all the petals fall off. It worries him, he doesn't even know where the rose came from but he can't get rid of it either. Sometimes Logan loses sight of his emotions but luckily he has Patton to help bring him back down.

Villain Kids:

Emile Picani- Son of Ursula- Emile is literally the friendliest person you'll ever meet on the island. He has a passion for swimming but doesn't get to do it often due to a barrier surrounding the island. One time he managed to escape the barrier somehow and met a boy, they became friends quickly but their parents found out. His mom cursed the boy despite her son's wish, time passed by and now Emile wants to right the wrong his mom did. He doesn't have tentacles but he has a pet octopus named Tentacles. Emile is around 5'4, he has blonde almost white hair and dark brown eyes, he has square glasses. He wears a black cardigan with a purple shirt underneath it, he also wears black pants. Emile also wears a seashell necklace his father gave him, he also has the warmest smile anyone has ever seen.

Virgil Malevolent- Son of Maleficent- Virgil and his mom never get along, she wants him to do stuff that he doesn't want to. He doesn't want to be like her when he gets older. Virgil can cast spells, all he has to do is remember the correct words and he can cast it, or he can use his spellbook. However, his mom takes the spell book all the time so he's learned to memorize the spells that are important. Virgil wears a purple cloak that covers his outfit that his mother forces him to wear, it's a black suit with black gloves. He absolutely hates it, but he hates his hair even more. His hair has black roots but silver tips, he dyed the tips purple to spite his mom. Virgil also has dragon wings and piercing green eyes. He often doodles thing from different fairy tales, one time he accidentally draws Roman. Roman finds out and asks Virgil to teach him how to draw.

Remus Queen (White)- Son of Evil Queen- Remus was taken when he was a baby, the queen raised him to he her own. Since he grew up with the evil queen he has been obsessed with mirrors and the way they reflect things. Remus was given a magic mirror of his own, and sometimes he would see someone who looked just like him in the mirror, he would always have a sinking feeling that he was missing something. Remus has dark humor and often expresses it into stories of the different fairy tales but instead of a happy ending they all end how they were originally intended to. His favorite fruit is an apple specifically yellow/golden. Remus looks a lot like Roman except for he's pale, also he wears something similar to his real outfit except the shoulder pads are toned down a bit.

Deceit Facilier- Son of Dr. Facilier- Deceit is cunning and tricky, he plays with fate all the time but he'll never know his own. He messes with his tarot cards all the time because his friends in the shadows tell him to, but they can't seem to tell him how to handle his massive crush on his dark humored friend. Deceit has a problem with telling the truth, he believes a lie is way better than something true. Deceit basically wears the same thing he does in the videos except the cloak thing is actually a suit jacket with the tail that Dr. Facilier has on his. Deceit covers half of his face with a smiling mask that's white. He had a past relationship with Virgil but again it was a mutual break up. Deceit ends up becoming good friends with Patton, he also loves building things.

This took so long to do holy hecking heck! But those are in depth character descriptions and more information on them. You guys are gonna make me cry with how much support you guys gave that post, I did not expect it to blow up like it did! Now I'm motivated to create a plot and story to this that's loosely based on the movie, however, I wanted to get opinions on a few things:

1- With Emile's design, instead of actual hair should he have tentacles for hair instead? Like a splatoon character?

2- What should the name of the island and school be? I was thinking something along the lines of Mind Palace High.

3- What should the au be called????

Also a few side notes:

~ There will be ocs in here to fill the role of the unwelcoming crowd of students. I think Roman would fit in that role but I just can't see him being that mean to exclude them out, maybe at first he's hesitant to approach them but he quickly gets over it.

~ Who's ready to see some sibling bonding between Remus and Roman?

Favorite flower: I really don’t have a favorite flower due to being allergic to their annoying as fuck pollen, I highly dislike flowers. But let’s pretend I do like flowers for the sake of this. I’d have to say all of the deadly ones and roses. Now, back to me not liking flowers, why can’t I just put carnivorous plants instead, I like them way more.

Game Review: ARMS (Switch)

ARMS, for all its comparisons, is a boxing game. If the colorful and vibrant characters of something like Overwatch were to exist in an equally colorful and vibrant version of Nintendo’s own Punch-Out, then it might look a little something like this. Nintendo has been breaking free of its comfort zone of producing countless Mario titles with the plump little plumber partaking in a variety of sports, party games, and laps around the track, to break into genres not normally particularly known for the publisher. Splatoon was their attempt at creating a tactical multiplayer shooter, and ARMS is Nintendo attempting to get a piece of the more traditional ‘one on one’ fighting genre, while still feeling entirely different than their own Smash Bros franchise.

ARMS delivers a very light jab with its content, a ten-round Grand Prix with no story to go along with these ten wonderfully designed characters. It’s the same issue I have with Overwatch, a game bursting at the seams with some of the most well-conceived characters in gaming, minus the narrative; it’s style over substance and it’s unfortunate.

The ten fighters that you can choose from will grow with future DLC, but what we have here is a selection of fighters that all have a little something that separates them from one another. Each fighter has special abilities that will assist in complimenting your style of play. Ribbon Girl can jump multiple times in the air to gain some height and distance away from your opponent. Ninjara, who can warp around as he dashes can also break free of grabs if you are fast enough. Master Mummy can take regular punches without even flinching, or retreat back and heal while blocking. There is also Min Min and her devastating Dragon Arm attack that can deal out some pretty decent damage.

The simplistic nature of how ARMS plays is reminiscent of fighting games during the Street Fighter II era, where it was simply who can get a few solid hits in and survive the match. The back and forth attacks weren’t dressed up in super flashy specials or learning complex controls. ARMS is at its core, Rock, Paper, Scissors. Its triangle system of Punch, Grab, and Block is essentially what it all comes down to. It’s rather hard to button mash in the game due to how this system works, making it more a game of reading your opponent and waiting to strike. Max Brass, the final boss in the Grand Prix mode, and the next free DLC character, was challenging until I notice certain movements he did that left him open for a grab, of which was his downfall. Charging in and trying to beat him on the offensive was the bad play, you need to be patient with him, wait to strike, and he’s yours.

While ARMS is being promoted with a heavy emphasis on motion controls, the game is still fully playable, and quite enjoyable, without them. I’ve played through the game’s Grand Prix mode entirely with motion controls and several times without, and I have to say that while the motion controls do add much to the game’s boxing premise, as motion controls are literally a ‘hands moving in the air’ type mechanic, they don’t quite nail the precision of playing with a controller. My recommendation of playing ARMS with a controller aside, there is one controversial element to motion controls vs controllers that needs to be addressed.

ARMS is clearly something that Nintendo wants to see join the ranks of other e-sports fighting games, and it easily looks the part. The problem with this is that motion controls and the more traditional controller setups don’t share the same way that curved throws are handled. Using a controller, the moving and curve throws are mapped to the same analog stick, meaning that if you want to throw a curved punch, you almost have to slow down or stop moving to do so, but this isn’t the case with motion controls at all. The reliance on a controller can leave you at a partial disadvantage, and given the fact that most e-sports bouts can see one player win by pulling off a move that is literally a frame of animation ahead of their opponent, it can be a serious issue in this case, but maybe not a deal breaker to those just looking to play some video games.

Apart from the curve punches, I do vastly prefer playing the game with a controller and have opted to leave motion controls behind for the time being. I found my punches a bit more precise and exceedingly more responsive with the use of an analog stick than the spotty waving around of my Joycon’s. The motion controls themselves are performed by holding the Joycon’s in a thumb’s up position, with the system connected side of them away from your palms. This way of holding the controllers has you punch with each fist, perform blocks, and unleashing special moves, jumps, and dashes, with the top buttons.

The core combat of ARMS is throwing punches with your left and right fists, or together to perform a throw. You can block incoming blows, or dash out of the way to target that much-needed opening. You can also jump, giving you a bit of a height advantage, with Ribbon Girl easily having a clear advantage there. A lot of mastering the game comes with learning the animated ‘tells’ of certain characters. These are moments when the character is performing an idle animation, or about to attack, giving you a split second to take advantage of it. There are far more elements to battle like parry attacks, charged moves and air dashes that take a while to learn and a long time to master.

The levels themselves have a bit of character as well, and often are supplied with various bits of cover; cars, pillars, and various box-like objects that are placed around the level to help in dodging an attack, or using it as a platform to get some decent height from. There are other types of levels that have breakable floors, floating platforms and are usually tailored around the characters themselves.

The cast of ARMS can swap out different ARMS, hence the name, to add variety to how silly and goofy the game can be. There are dragon-head ARMS that shoot lasers, spinning blades that fly back to you, and snake-like ARMS that almost look to seek out their prey. There are dozen’s of different types and you can mix and match to find a combination that works for you. Each character starts with three different types, giving you a small sample of what to expect, and considering that each character on the roster has a slightly different set than the others, it’s easy enough to try out a character that has that ARMS setup that you may want for your main, keeping it in mind that you’ll need to unlock that style for each character; ARMS are not universally shared.

Unlocking ARMS is a slow and grindy process, and is solely a game of chance. You will earn coins during each of the modes the game offers, but at such a snail’s pace that it makes me wonder if this game was even tested during development. It takes either 30, 100, or 200 coins to enter into a mini-game that allows you to unlock items. Most matches will award 1 or 2 coins, with the odd match awarding 3. The mini-game itself has you clearing targets to have gift boxes enter the playing field. Once you’ve knocked them down and earned your prize, the round continues until the timer reaches zero. You can extend the time should you hit the clock items that will randomly appear. The items you earn are for every character in the game, so finding that set of ARMS for a character you want, can be a time-consuming challenge. I have to really compliment Nintendo on not opening this game up to microtransactions, a move that nearly any other publisher would have made without blinking an eye.

ARMS, like Splatoon, will dish out more content sometime after launch, giving us more reasons to jump back into the game after we’ve moved onto the next. This new content will be new characters, new stages, and more, all at no cost. While this promise of new content should make people excited, the content we have now, at launch, is fairly thin. I’ve talked briefly about it so far, but let’s get into exactly what we get.

The Grand Prix is a 10 round battle that is announced by Bif, a small character with a fist on his head. In a previous Nintendo Direct, this character had a comical voice and had some very well delivered lines and it was rather shocking that the character in-game is mute, with any and all dialogue in the game needing to be read. He will make jokes and comments about the pairings of fighters and some of them are rather fun to read but would be far more effective if fully voiced, especially the puns.

There is the standard versus mode that will pit you against another character, either in regular battles, volleyball, basketball or break the target. Volleyball has you simply punch a ball back and forth to the other side of the court, with points scored if your opponent can’t get it over the net. Basketball has you dunk your opposition into a net with the grab mechanic, and is probably my favorite mode in the game. Break the target has you competing to break popped up targets in succession, earning more points should you hit multiple targets in a single punch. There is also a 1 vs 100 mode that has you trying to take on waves of generic enemies one after another.

The online portion of ARMS has worked perfectly so far with not a single dropped match or any sort of issue that normally comes with launching a game designed around online competition. When you enter an online lobby, you’ll share it with other players, each of them selected to join various matches around you. You’ll be randomly put into a match, whether it’s a one on one fight, a tag-team battle, or you and two other players taking on Hedlok, a six-armed beast that can take you down several pegs with just a glimpse. These matches are intense, thrilling, but frustrating if you can’t catch a break. Otherwise, the same matches that you have offline are here, just with other players.

I did find that the 3 player and 4 player matches that are free-for-alls, and even the team battle modes for that matter, are almost too frantic, making the ‘tell’ reading nature of this game absolutely not matter and it becomes something of a frenzy of people punching at random and getting cornered or attacked from behind as you are trying to play somewhat strategic against another player. It’s a bit of a hot mess, but I am not sure how this sort of match could be improved.

ARMS is a gorgeous title that runs a solid 1080p and 60 fps either docked or on the go. This will obviously lower once you hit 2 players (900p) and 4 player battles (900p 30fps) to keep a solid flow in battle. The detail given to each fighter is stunning with nice little details throughout the entire roster like Master Mummy appearing to be wearing some sort of sports jersey, or that Min Min has these small little flowers on her shoulder. Even expected things like the bouncing of character’s ARMS and hair, everything is so wonderfully animated that it makes it even more unfortunate that these characters have no story mode to flesh them out. Audio is fairly limited to the hits and music, as characters have very minimal audio. There are victory cheers and a few rare quips, but that’s about it. The theme song is incredibly catchy and will stick with you long after you’ve turned the system off.

ARMS is a fun and enjoyable experience that has all the makings of a great franchise, but just not yet. Once more modes and characters are added then I can see this game gaining a bit of traction. It is blissfully fun but can become a bit tedious in how stingy the coins are earned to unlock new ARMS. The initial cast of characters are really well done, without a single poor choice among them. The sheer variety in their move sets, arm selection, combined with the nuance of mastering grabs, parry attacks and charged strikes, ARMS has a lot to master.
