"Trains across Europe: City breaks in Rotterdam " De Unie Cafe'

Café De Unie is a building from 1925 designed by architect JJP Oud . In the design, Oud used the primary colors, sleek letters and rectangular shapes of De Stijl. The locals didn't react well to this ultra-modern design at the time, the cafe' was closed after just one year and the facade painted over in grey.

The original building was located on Calandplein and was destroyed in 1940. In 1986, a replica of the facade was built on the Mauritsweg.

Oud had in fact became internationally famous as a pioneer of modern construction. De Stijl had also become an art movement of international significance and Café de Unie is now considered an icon of modern architecture.

M-Spec Flag Edits

I made some edits of a couple M-Spec Flags because eh, why not.

Some of them have noticeable differences. Some are completely new flags, and some are simplified versions of previous flags.

Omni: Attraction to all genders.

Inmo: Genderblind attraction to a selection of genders/attracted to a selection of genders with little to no preferences. (Based off of the pan flag)

Nowoma/Nogal: Attraction to all genders except binary women. (Original flag by Ghostlyfae)

Noma/Nobro: Attraction to all genders except binary Men. (Original flag by Ghostlyfae)

Penulti: Attraction to all genders except ones own gender. (Colors taken from Clear.Skies)

Pencontra: Attraction to all genders except the opposite of ones own gender.

Deuni: Attraction to all genders except for one specific gender. Umbrella term for identities such as noma, penulti, etc. (Pink for Feminine genders, Orange for Xenogenders, Yellow for Neutral and Outherine genders, Green for Genderless Identities, Blue for Masculine genders, and Purple for androgynous/mascfem genders. The black stripe symbolizes the one gender not present in ones attraction)

CULTUURTIP | OPENING Gravitational Waves 12.11.2017

Gravitational Waves* is een indrukwekkende en tegelijk subtiele installatie van de Duits-Argentijnse kunstenaar Tomás Saraceno (°1973. Nu zondag 12 november om 15u00 wordt het kunstwerk ingehuldigd op Kattevennen in Genk.

* Dit werk kadert in de Unie Hasselt-Genk, de tweede cluster in het project rond kunst in de open ruimte van Z33.

Ik ben grote fan van Saraceno zijn werk! Zijn werken héél tastbaar en fijn om naar te kijken. Hij laat zich immers inspireren op de structuur van spinnewebben, wolken, zeepbellen,… In 2013 zag ik werk van hem in K21 te Düsseldorf. Je kan daar nog steeds naar IN ORBIT, een permanente installatie van netten die zoals een spinneweb zijn opgebouwd en dat zo’n 25m boven de grond. Alleen voor echte durvers! Ik hield het bij wat wegdromen bij de spinnen die in grote boxen een fantastisch spel van draden hadden opgezet.
