Descendants Grease AU (VKs)

We were watching Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies and my partner mentioned a Grease AU for the Descendants characters. So I made aesthetic boards. (Credits to @mjthechaotic for giving me the idea)

I kinda see them as being in between RotPL and the first Grease movie. They probably would be the gangs between 1956-1958.

I kept it simple. VKs are the Pink Ladies and T Birds and the AKs are the Socs.

AK Version

Mal

Mal is the leader of the Pink Ladies. She regularly skips most of her classes except for art, and you can find her work scattered around on the fronts of lockers or on the walls of the school. She usually hangs out at the diner when Uma’s working to avoid going to either of her parents’ houses. She also sometimes crashes in her car or at Evie’s if it’s her mom’s turn to have her.

Evie

Evie has dreamed of being a fashion designer since she was six years old. She regularly has to fight against the dress code at Rydell when she wears her own designs. She likes to sew and design with Carlos, who she’s been friends with since they were toddlers. Her favorite class is chemistry, both because she’s interested in the subject, and because she has her eye on one of her classmates.

Uma

Uma works at her mom’s diner after school, occasionally cutting school to work an extra shift when she needs it. Her favorite place to go is the beach. She regularly goes to surf with her childhood best friends, Gil and Harry. She at first was rivals with her fellow Pink Ladies, but eventually became their friend and joined the gang after they all got weeks of detention for an incident at the Rydell homecoming game their junior year.

Jay

Jay is the leader of the T Birds at Rydell. He often has to fix up the car when it breaks down, though he isn’t as good as Carlos with technical stuff. He helps out with his dad’s antique shop by swiping things from his wealthier peers at school. He’s always the first to bring refreshments when the gangs hang out and watches over all of them like a big brother.

Carlos

Carlos is the youngest T Bird. He skipped a year in Elementary school, putting him in the same grade as the others. He’s good at fixing up cars and often gets free milkshakes at the diner by repairing the jukebox that’s too old for its own good. He volunteers at the animal shelter on the weekends, claiming it would look good on scholarship applications, but he just enjoys spending time with the animals. He spends most nights either at Jay’s or Evie’s to escape his mother’s abuse.

Harry

Harry enjoys fast cars and loud music. He has been written up and given detention on multiple occasions for playing loud rock from his car’s stereo in the parking lot. He often races for the T Birds during disputes with other gangs. He enjoys going to the racetrack to flirt with the ladies, or to the beach to surf with Gil and Uma.

Gil

Gil is always willing to put a smile on his friends’ faces. He’s unwaveringly loyal and is down to help out with whatever crazy scheme Jay or Harry has cooked up. His favorite things to do are going to get a snack at the diner or driving around town with the T Birds. He also loves weekend surfs with Uma and Harry.

What's your most unpopular opinion on Descendants as a whole? The descendants novels included.

The way people hate Prince Ben is rooted in misandry, the entire series wouldn't exist if not for him. To see him get overlooked by the fandom & even canon solely bc he's an attractive guy is sad. He's much more than Mal's boyfriend.

Actually I think the series was misandry incarnate; think of all the other media like Winx, Bratz, MH, Barbie their male characters have personalities and roles but Descendants really failed giving their male characters spotlight (especially Jay and Carlos)

I liked the cartoons better Audrey was vastly better written

Speaking of she was a stupid villain in movie 3. Her plan was so dumn ok so you're motivated by your anger over everyone ignoring u yet you get them back by...putting them to sleep? Girl that won't make people pay you any attention THEY'RE NOT CONSCIOUS; you should've brainwashed them instead! Also her outfit sucks

Mal should not have been the main character, shoulda been Evie

Literally fanfiction handles the concept better than canon I am so serious

I like the aesthetics okay

Doug was honestly the worst

Chad deserved better

Harry was cool but I wished there was more content that explored him as an individual

I wished Uma had more purple in her outfits to make her align more with Ursula

Since I’m probably going to be posting the completed “sophont design stuff with some bits on society and culture” stuff for some of AE’s non human sophonts, I think this is a good stage to formally introduce them all.

Ghostjays: Sapient Canada jay descendants, which are usually about raven sized or so. Generally still clearly corvid like but have some traits more similar to those seen in other passerines. Have some peculiar traits (a fourth toe that can rotate backwards to give the foot a zygodactyl toe arrangement, more drongo or starling like wings, a large gape and shrike like tomial tooth on an odd shortened beak ) as adaptations for their weird highly arboreal omnivore lifestyle, but still do generally bear a solid resemblance to other corvids even if they’re very unique looking. They’re by far the least shy and most curious and intrepid of the sophonts overall, and are generally quite extroverted. They’re also among the biggest tech geeks of the bunch.

Willowdrakes: Sapient sirens, which are a clade of dragons (Astral Echoes’s dragons or, as they’re more commonly known, “griffindrakes”, are a clade of weird volant dromaeosaurs descended from Sauronitholestes). Kinda a weird blend of shearwater, owl, auk, nuthatch, and dromaeosaur appearance wise. Ancestrally pelagic omnivores that nested in temperate rainforests and coastal coniferous forests in general like marbled murrelets do, but different groups have expanded their range into a wide range of other habitats. Some are coastal, others live inland around lakes, rivers, and wetlands, and several have stuck to a largely pelagic existence. In spite of those differences, all of them are frankly obsessed with art in some shape or form (this is derived from them ancestrally doing elaborate bower construction as an important part of their courtship process). They’re also, for a lack of a better word, the most queer things on the planet (which is to say they’re exceedingly LGBTQ+ supportive on a cultural level. All of the sophonts are generally pretty supportive of it (even if some of them are still in the process of learning about it all), but willowdrakes take it to a whole new level).

Moonsprites: Lesser galago descendants, and members of a family of “Astraean lemurs” that have specialized in the direction of carnivory and became agile, arboreal or semi-arboreal mesocarnivores. Basically resemble a mix of galago, gibbon, bamboo lemur, sportive lemur, and painted wolf appearance wise. Weird arboreal endurance hunters, very comparable to arboreal painted wolves. Kinda fill the niche of elves in AE, but it’s loose. Also quite artsy, but are particularly fond of music, and several groups are frankly obsessed with gothic stuff and the whole aesthetic. Also probably highly spiritual but the religion stuff for the AE sophonts in general still needs to be figured out/worked on more.

Warrendwarves: Wallaby descendants, but I wouldn’t blame someone for thinking otherwise since they’re quite different to a lot of AE’s other macropodids. They’re basically bettongs on roids in many aspects of their appearance and ecology, but have plenty of weird elements to their physiology and ecology. They’re the other tech geeks, and have notable interest in architecture, construction and engineering (although they also like general art and are quite fond of science, something they share with the ghostjays). Being prey animals, they’re often reluctant to trust other sophonts, and a solid chunk of them are either kind of grouchy and standoffish, anxiety ridden, a bit snarky or cynical, or something between all of those. However, if you get through that shell, they’re lovable loyal tech nerds.

Brinewraith: These guys are undergoing an overhaul so I’ll add that once I finish their revised designs and whatnot.

The oddly specific crossover for Disney Descendants and the Locked Tomb:

Aka me shoving Descendants characters into TLT universe instead of the og ones because I have Thoughts and zero self-control!! Now enjoy or suffer (affectionate)!!

So just imagine Gideon the Ninth plot but instead of the og characters you have Descendants kids, more than half of which are only there to cause chaos.

Cytherea sees this and decides not to intervene, because she wants to spite God amd also thinks that watching him and Mercy get a headache from dealing with the kids would be hilarious.

The First remains God and his Lyctors.

Second "Two is for discipline, headless of trial", is kind of army oriented court, closest and most devoted to the first. It's run by Beast and Belle and Ben is the heir, but, you see, he is not a necromancer. And Beast very wisely sent all of his other necros on the front or to the service to the Emperor, so the second have no actual necro heir.

Ben goes to the Caanan house with Lonnie as his *cav* anyway, and both just try to pretend they are not, you know, only pretending.

The others tolerate that because they think it's funny.

The Hook siblings were also from the second, but they ✨dislike rules✨ so they run away to join other courts and necromancers, because of course they did. The Hooks think that rules are a suggestion at best and also hate authority.

The Third " Three for the gleam of the jewel or a smile": The necromancer is Ginny Gothel, the cavalier is Harriet Hook. And Anthony comes with them, because:

A) he was supposed to be Ginny's cav before Harriet came and he decided he is good as he is, and:

B) the girls need someone to keep them alive and doing basic tasks, like, you know, eating, drinking water, and sleeping.

The Fourth "Four for fidelity, facing ahead" is, from what I gather, even more war-oriented than the second. As in, frontlines.

Uma is the heir and the necromancer, Harry is her cavalier.

The crew is their battle unit.

She also keeps picking up strays and even opposing soldiers on the frontlines. (She might not be entirely loyal to the emperor, but everyone is too scared of her to question anything she does. She is scary, she is competent and she is not afraid to crack your ribcage open and crush your still beating heart in her hand. Harry is making hear eyes at her as we speak and also very ready to kill in a few very creative methods.)

Every time she gets home with a new person on her crew, the court goes like „Again?! You really shouldn't-“ to which Uma is like „Fuck you, I'm the heir, I do what I want, you need me more than I need you.“

She also makes these scary bone constructs and calls them her pets and everyone besides Harry is terrified of them. Harry thinks they are adorable.

The Fifth "Five is for tradition and debts to the dead".

Jay and Jade were the ones who got to the Caanan house.

Were they supposed to go? No.

Did they steal the ship and go regardless? Yes.

Is their only objective to wreak havoc? Definitely.

Also, they are both necros. Occasionally pretending that one of them is a cav, but switching it up every time.

They are having fun.

The Sixth: " for the truth over solace in lies" Evie is the necromancer and Carlos is her Cavalier, because I think they'd enjoy the books and they deserve that <3

They also keep getting annoyed, because they want to actually STUDY the theorems in the Caanan house, but everyone else is there to wreak havoc or further their own agenda.

The Seventh "for beauty that blossoms and dies" is a court obsessed with the beautiful death.

Basically, CJ Hook run away from the second to the shiny✨ court that DIDN'T have her older sister already, attached herself to the necro heir Freddie Facilier and then never left.

And that's the reason Freddie couldn't have been Ninth, despite the matching aesthetic!

In between her, Celia, CJ, Yzla and Zevon, the Tomb would not have stayed locked a week and the Body would have been a subject to vivisection about three days later!

And also, when the Courts get to the Caanan house, the Hook siblings have this „What the fuck are YOU doing here?!" moment and everyone who doesn't know them is very confused.

The Eight "for salvation no matter the cost" is the religion fanatic court. It's necromancer heir is Claudine Frollo because I said so, and her cav is Marya Rasputin because it would be funny (and because Rasputin is a cultist, too) (she bites!).

And Claudine ends up adopted by the Hooks again, because the Hooks do not tolerate cultist bullshit and also because I like that trope.

The Ninth "Nine for the tomb and what should stay lost", goes to Audrey.

She doesn't have the death aesthetic, but:

1. She is the only bitch capable of running a house on her own (Uma and Harriet could, but they have the unfortunate tendency to pick up strays wherever they go)

2. It would explain why she has no proper cav.

3. She would fall in love with the Body.

4. She has the exact same combination of parental expectations, inherent trauma, crippling anxiety and god complex as Harrow.

Ergo, Audrey the Ninth. Yes, she is also two hundred dead babies in a trenchcoat.

No, with them combined? The plot doesn't stand a chance.

Modern/human au for Descendants about what kind of online presence they have

CORE FOUR:

Carlos has the most followers over several social media. He's an incredibly popular twitch streamer and posts a lot of technical videos about not only PC rigs, but consoles and keyboards. He's really active in technical Reddit threads and posts tips for new streamers. He has a "Duke Cam" on stream for his dog and does a lot of charity streams to animal foundations.

Evie is next in popularity, as a beauty YouTuber. She does the standard makeup tutorials, GRWMs, and product reviews. She's really popular with younger viewers, and she drives home the importance of how you should never do makeup because you think you need to, but because you want to, and focuses a lot on self-love. Aside from makeup, she also focuses on her fashion and loves to do sewing challenges, as well as talking about the logistics of starting her own fashion line.

Jay is really popular on fitness Instagram and TikTok. He does like a daily "workout of the day" type videos. His Instagram is also a lot of photos of the Four, as well as the team at competitions. His TikTok is full of videos during practice or sparring sessions, as well as parkour videos.

Mal is not active on social media at all. She has an ancient Tumblr she made as a tween that's full of angsty aesthetic posts. She's primarily on Twitter where she posts her art like once a month and gets thousands of notes. There are SO MANY call outs about her, primarily from Uma and Audrey (but they are kinda deserved call outs)
