AU where Shen Jiu and Yue Qingyuan never reunite… and years later, Yue Qingyuan meets a child he thinks might be Shen Jiu’s reincarnation — Luo Binghe.
After a… somewhat unpleasant few years as a disciple, mostly due to nasty rumours and a teacher who was never willing to criticise him, Luo Binghe eventually gets revealed as a Heavenly Demon and yeeted into the Abyss, as is his fate. He finds Xin Mo, gets to the Demon Realm, starts some fights… and then he’s captured by the forces of the current Demon Emperor.
The current Demon Emperor was once a general of Tianlang-jun, and the one who actually ran most of the demon realm when he was out exploring the human world. He’s been maintaining the throne ever since Tianlang-jun was sealed, since he’s unable to free the man he gave his loyalty to after he saved him from the human realm and taught him proper demonic cultivation — yes, that’s right, the Demon Emperor is the (very human) Shen Jiu.
Shen Jiu has his own issues — without a Heavenly Demon to back him, his power is starting to be questioned, and his control over the various demonic tribes is weakening. When he sees Luo Binghe for the first time, he hatches a plan: train the half-demon brat to inherit the throne, and then sit back in his old role as general, without ever having to attend a diplomatic dinner or reject a marriage alliance proposal again! Unfortunately for him, his plan has one flaw — Luo Binghe deciding that he’s more interested in becoming his Empress than becoming Emperor himself.

Cant stop thinking about emperor sy au...
Thanks to sy's modern knowledge of historical palace dramas and encyclopedic knowledge of pidw along with him having max stats on luck and charisma he survived the succession war (and somehow becomes an emperor? He is still confused on how he got it. Its not that he cut down his fellow princes nor did he scheme to get the emperor position but hes the only legitimate option left). SY doesnt have any experience on ruling kingdoms however (or anything really) but thankfully SY got an economics degree in his past life so hes not a fish out of the water.
Although the imperial rule doesn't affect the cultivation world directly, they're still impacted in the form of trade and manpower. The power to empower and cripple sects is in his hands. Ever since SY declaring SJ as his long lost brother CQM received a lot of lucrative trade. SQH is appreciative but hello?? He didnt write any long lost family members on SJ! So he got curious and begged the sect leader to send him instead of SJ to meet the emperor for trade discussion, and thats how he met his fellow transmigrator.
SY made him cough up all of his authorial knowledge and found out about OPM and HHP, although its already too late to save SXY as LBH has been born. Needless to say, HHP's coffers are running thin these days. With them having less money their manpower and support from noble families are slowly diminishing, the maintenance and security of the seals fell to disrepair, and SY (in disguise) with SQH's cultivation expertise managed to free TLJ. A few brief expositions later, TLJ and ZZL thanked both of them and slipped back go the demon realm. News of their freedom got out and HHP is scrutinized and support dropped even further than before.
SY did manage to visit QJP regularly to visit his brother and consequently, meeting LBH a number of times (making LBH absolutely smitten with him and considering joining the nonexistent imperial harem). With SJ more assured in his position (also maybe SY's promise of him always having a place in the palace and his family and less people being hostile towards him had an impact) SJ had less frustrations and projections to subject LBH and his students to. He still doesnt like the beast but his stupid brother (an emperor!) doted on him like a favored child so he tried his best to ignore him instead.
Things were going well until the immortal conference where instead of SQH orchestrating the attack, its TLJ and ZZL trying to get a hit on HHP's OPM and dragging LBH back to demon realm kicking and screaming. LBH is presumed dead.
SY found out of course but he didnt know the details (SJ remains tight lipped and insists that hes dead and thats all he should know) and thought LBH fell into the abyss and SJ pushed him like the original plot and grew depressed of thinking of his brother that he grew fond of turn into human stick. Also considering LBH's going to merge the realms and conquer the human kingdoms under one rule he might not have long either, he is, after all, a human male which by the novel's rules itself, a cannon fodder.
Years passed and the demon army, under the demon emperor LBH, conquered other human kingdoms and eventually showed up on SY's kingdom's doorstep but not for the reason SY's thinking of.
SY found himself still alive (!!!) and married (???) with LBH for alliance. CQM stays unmolested and unburned for years to come. SJ, however, remains a sour pickle with this whole arrangement, but at least hes left in peace.
Bonus :
LBH loves to roleplay as a concubine whenever he dropped by SY's palace. When SY visited the demon realm however, LBH loves to show him off that the demons thought of him as a concubine instead (much to SY's embarassment)

posting more svsss fanart this time half finished doodles of a lil au that’s been cooking in my brain for a few weeks
fox shen yuan aus have my heart and soul anyways he gains more tails the higher his cultivation is :33
plot points for this below the cut (also apologies for the terrible image quality she’s been through a lot (my google drive))
- shen yuan is a fox demon, he gets popped into a very young fox demon similar to how airplane gets dropped into baby shang qinghua (airplane is sqh in this au but that’s not plot relevant yet)
- little fox shen yuan, still getting the hang of his powers and creating a human form, runs into shen jiu in the woods, realizes this “random” teenager looks a lot like he did in real life, and unconsciously shifts to look like him
- shen yuan and shen jiu become kind of friends (in that shen jiu feels like he needs to protect shen yuan because he thinks he’s naive and also thinks it’s funny when he’s a bitch and shen yuan also thinks that shen jiu is funny when he’s a bitch and that he should probably keep this kid from dying or screwing himself up with his clearly demonic cultivation too bad)
- shen yuan eventually figures out how to look fully human (prior to him and sj going to cang qiong mountain)
- sy and sj become disciples on qing jing together! how does shen yuan cultivate? well sj is the only one who knows he’s a demon but they manage to swipe a fox demon cultivation manual from qing jing peak’s library for him
- when the qing generation ascends shen yuan leaves cang qiong to go be a wandering cultivator and write a bestiary
(at this point you may be asking, where is zhuzhi-lang? he’s in the doodles, why hasn’t he shown up yet? fear not, he is coming)
- while traveling shen yuan decide that the mortal realm is too boring and there are far too many papapa plants there so he travels to the demon realm to record more beasts
- at this point tianlang-jun is still the emperor of the demon realm, and, through shenanigans probably, shen yuan manages to save zhuhai-lang from a rather dangerous plant that mimics normal demonic plants and gets introduced to the emperor
- it does not take long for shen yuan to realize that this is luo binghe’s father and decide, hey, maybe he can help this guy and hopefully get both of luo binghe’s parents to survive so he can have a kind of normal life without the trauma (he is still masquerading as a human at this point and there’s quite a bit of controversy about the demonic emperor taking advice from a human cultivator, linguang-jun later mocks mobei-jun for ‘following in the late emperor’s footsteps’ when he takes shang qinghua as his primary advisor)
- this plan does not work, shen yuan is exposed to the cultivation world as a demon and a traitor and gets his ass tossed into the endless abyss so he can’t warn zzl and tlj about the plot against them
- (shen jiu goes to see him before he gets sent in: “why’d you do it?” “i… i wanted to try and let them (su xiyan and tianlang-jun) be happy together…”)
- sy is stuck in the abyss making himself a little house and strong arming the various horrors down there into liking him
- cut to shen jiu, now shen qingqiu, extremely bitter about the fact that the only person he considered a friend betraying him the cultivation world, and seeing baby binghe who looks just like the guy his friend got tossed into the the abyss for and figures out that this must have been what shen yuan was trying to protect
- shen qingqiu is livid and takes it out on binghe
- yet another cut, we know what bingge’s childhood was like, and binghe’s gets dropped into the abyss (sqq thinks that it’s fitting he sends the beast to the same fate that trying to protect him doomed shen yuan to)
- binghe wanders the abyss, being miserable, for several years before he comes across… a house? the bamboo house from qing jing peak? is he hallucinating? but no, it’s not quite the same, it’s made with whatever freaky bamboo equivalent grows in the abyss and there’s a pen with a six-legged carnivorous horse around the side of it
- shen yuan built himself a version of the bamboo house because he really liked it and he helped build shen qingqiu’s bamboo house as a sort of present/congratulations for ascending to peak lord status and he wanted a comfortable place to relax where he’s less likely to be attacked by a beast
- binghe is very confused when he is enthusiastically greeted by a fox demon who looks like his scummy teacher but is rather quickly endeared and intrigued
- they bond, shen yuan helps binghe find xin mo and they get out of the abyss and into the demon realm together with shen yuan acting as an advisor for binghe similarly to how he did with tlj, with the condition that binghe helps him release tlj and zzl from their prison
- this is the main catalyst for them going to huan hua in this au (most people have forgotten what sy looks like or they were too young to remember his trial even happening, it wasn’t anything super public because publicity for the great sects is very important so they kept things very hush hush)
- shen yuan reunites with zhuzhi-lang and tianlang-jun! it takes them a while to figure out how to properly break them out but they do manage it!
- at some point in the demon realm shen yuan and shang qinghua run into each other and clock that the other person is a transmigrator pretty quickly (they both have a habit of muttering in chinglish during court and they hear each other and do the spider-man point meme)
- sqh and sy bond and binghe and mbj don’t exactly know if they should be jealous about it, they’re very close and seem to share some sort of strange dialect that only the two of them speak and spend a lot of time together?? (they’re arguing and maybe kissing a little bc… cumplane my loves)
- shen yuan eventually has the misfortune of running into liu qingge (who survives here because i love him and i think that sy would at least try to prevent his death because he found him endearing when they were disciples), while sy is delighted that his shidi is alive he’s less happy about having cheng luan pointed directly at his throat in a secluded alleyway when he was just trying to browse the market of a town he remembered being pleasant
- reuniting with lqg leads to reuniting with the rest of cang qiong (and getting yelled at for his incompetence by shen qingqiu before they make up)
- shen yuan has (just barely) convinced binghe that torture is not the answer to solving his trauma so shen qingqiu does not get water prisoned but they aren’t trusted alone in a room together for a good long time
- eventually this probably ends in shen yuan collecting a harem on accident (not that he’s very upset about it but still, he’s confused how he managed this)
- neither binghe nor shen qingqiu are particularly pleased about the harem thing but like… they love shen yuan and if it makes him happy they’ll put up with these other idiots (they totally don’t like some of the other harem members what are you talking about? there’s nothing going on there stop asking them about it)

In the au in which sj loses his memory and marries sy, do cucumber and airplane still become friends and figure out the other is a transmigator? Cause I feel like sy might have his guard up but also the hilarity of sqh being the only peak lord to get an in with the emperor, SJ being jealous while sy is just ranting at sqh over how he needs to fix his stupid world
So here's going to be the thing: there's plenty of people with the last name of Shang. Shen Yuan has no clue if that one Shang disciple on An Ding really IS going to be the future canon fodder villain who becomes An Ding in the future and betrays the sect.
But also, he's kind of sort of pretty busy with his own life issues (cough of not getting killed or horrendously injured by his paranoid uncle of an emperor while juggling potentially lethal political matters among other things). He's got no time to care about the An Ding issue now - surely it would be fine to procrastinate a little longer!
Once he's on the throne, somehow he's even busier. Everyone wants a piece of him; he's barely got enough time for his consort (and heavens knows that although Shen Jiu didn't demand for time for the two, Shenyuan very well knew how Shen Jiu wilted like a flower without sufficient attention).
But the benefits of being emperor? Toss the work onto unlucky grunts!
Shang Qinghua finds himself getting tossed into jail without a single conversation with the emperor, Cang Qiong is tossed into a furious political storm of one of their own accused of consorting with demons and other major political powers eager to take advantage of such a situation, and Shen Jiu is busy with... trying to get a child born? The emperor needs an heir, ya know?
Cang Qiong really starts to realize just how important the master of logistics is as well as Shen Jiu's political acumen.
(Airplane gets himself out of the mess by showing that he's getting courted by an ice demon and hey look, a good chance to establish a strong alliance via marriage!
AKA he gets shipped off with the honorary title of Imperial Prince when he's sent to get married to Mobei Jun. You know, as is pretty common in Chinese history - so many pretty common-born girls got slapped with royal titles before they were sent out to marriage this and that foreign royalty family for alliances.
Oh, and he finally gets a conversation with the emperor where all is revealed.
He's still shipped off to the ice kingdom though.)

AU idea where Shen Jiu was told (by his former shizun) to spy on TLJ for a while as they get enough information on their own about what TLJis capable of. Maybe they dont trust Su Xiyan's or more specifically the Palace master's own work of spying the demon lord that just in case they sent him out to study the man and wohoho he accidentally gets found by TLJ who is also interested in the guy. Shen Jiu trying to keep up appearances humors him and also tries to bond a bit like what Su Xiyan did(the demon likes literature and boi is Shen Jiu full of it). Of course its only for a brief moment, both alrrady knowing full well how dangerous they are to each other before the four peaks (with Shen Jiu affirming or not some of his weaknesses) decide to battle him.
And since Su Xiyan is nowhere to be seen, they decide the newpeak lord Shen Qingqiu should be up to the yask to look after the cell in case he escapes. During that time Shen Jiu had talked and "bonded" a bit with TLJ, he picked up a lot more things than just his weaknesses or strenghts. That he was worried of Su Xiyan (TLJ thought SJ might tell him some details of her but he said nothing) and that he wished to at least see her one time. Shen Qingqiu of coursed asked him about it once the boy was imprisoned but he said nothing of the sort. And it bugged him the wrong way bc something felt amiss. Rrying to find information of Su Xiyan was also midly infuriating because the Palace master seeemd to have hidden it with a lot of thought.
It is not until some time later (kinda like a few days after the siege) when he slowly puts all the pieces together and thinks that Su Xiyan might be hidding a secret child that he must need to destroy right away. Of course he cant go telling this because it will meant the Palace Master has known he was spying inside the walls of his peak and thus create a feud with the two peaks. And also because he doesnt want to bring more fear into the new peak lords who were just starting to manage the things back together. Therefore Shen Qingqiu went out on secret missions to find some trace of Su Xiyan for ages, while talking to TLJ, who after some time in isolation had twistedly become hateful and also in love with Shen Qingqiu (in a way it was like Su Xiyan but he had never hid it well in the first place, they both knew each other, and Shen had no reason to lie to him or get close to him after his imprisonment, yet he did, which is what fucks with TLJ's mind so badly). Shen Qingqiu had also weirdly started to grow affecrion for the demon, he even laughed at himself about it, because in the end it was the one person he could be so crudely rude and truthful to the point where he ended up telling him the fact that he might have a son out there that shen is trying to find.
And kill.
When Zhuzhi lang hears upon this in one of his secret meetings to TLJ, the latter doesnt care, whenever or not he has a son he thinks Su Xiyan would have killed it. And yet some part of him hopes that 'the woman who has supposexly dissapeared from the cultivation world with a possible demon child in her hands' means something. As the years go by he does feel a bit uneasy at how calm and set Shen Qingqiu is on taking the life of his child. But at the same time he expected that from humans. So he gives in to the pessimistic idea that his son, which he will never see, will die, and the only thing he lies to Shen Qingqiu about is how much it hurts him to accept that fate.
Shen Qingqiu one day comes with news that he has found the child, its been years, more than a decade. Actually 13 years, he assures the demon emperor. 13 long years of trying to scout through the reaches of the earth and funnily enough, as if faith herself was laughing in their face, Luo Binghe appeared. TLJ has no idea who the fuck that is but he pieces two and two together when he sees Shen Qingqiu smile through his anger for the first time. (And god was it creepy). He cant kill the boy now, Shen Qingqiu tells him that he had gone up close to see Binghe because he looked so mucht to his father, that it ended up being percieved as though Shen Qingqiu was picking out of everyone there, and if he said he didnt want to take that boy as a disciple or if he did and got killed immedeatly afterwards then all eyes would of course be centered on him.
Im not going to loose my reputation for such a petty thing.
So he said, and added on that he will try his best to kill the child. Which TLJ has already heard so many times that, as the days go by, he is surprised when Shen Qingqiu comes each time having failed on that mission for almost a year. He is annoyed, he berates Tianlang Jun for having such a strong boy. And TLJ takes it as a compliment, a bit eager to hear more about this Binghe that is going to dye Shen qingqiu's hairs gray sooner than he. He asks Zhuzhi lang to keep some eye out on the kid just so that he doesnt end up too critically injured or else the fun of watching Shen Qingqiu act like a spiteful wife witghting with a concubine would be gone... and with it SQQ might leave him from visiting as well.
And then, Shen Qingqiu one day just lost interest over it. He was spiteful to the core but now he seems, a bit tired. So he starts teaching the kid normally. Shen Qingqiu decides to just let the kid grow to be more of an intellectual than a fighter. And TLJ wonders if its becuase someone has struck Shen Qingqiu's rotten tiny cold heart. Which SQQ quickly negates it, while hidding full well that he cant bring himself to hurt someone that looks so much like the only human— no, demon, that has been able to befirend in so long.
He hates that, he hates that the only person that never left him is a crude demon stuck in a mountain, that the girl he raised as hiw own daughter is saddened by his actions towards Binghe. That stupidly enough that child STILL believes in him despite all the things he does. All those things bite him subconciously until he just decides to let faith run its course as Binghe becomes more and more unstoppable and there is mothing SQQ can do.
When SQQ pushes Binghe to the endless abbyss, he half expects for the kid to be saved by some god that has loved him amd saved his ass for so long. Adn he half expects for all his anger to dissipate and fade away, to relax from the future that might unfold as SQQ has finally killed the demon child that would have destroyed his future a long time ago.
But instead of happiness he only feels some tears fall down his face, the memories od the time he enclosed TLJ running through him. Fear encompassing his whole body as he lays wide awake at night, not knwoing how he will be able to confront Tianlang Jun when he hears that Luo Binghe, his son, is finally dead once and for all.
Weeks go by as he finally has the courage to step inside the mountain again and...
Tianlang jun's essence is gone.
He's escaped.

Another late night brain blast, in a AU where JC is a reincarnated SJ, Bingge comes through on a hunt for a kind Shizun. He sees that JC is a SJ without any memories and that he acts like the kind Shizun, especially towards his young nephew. BGG tells him he’ll destroy everything unless JC comes back with him and fulfill his past life debts by taking care of him. JL and WWX are freaking out and begging that JC doesn’t do anything stupid, but it’s not like JC isn’t used to sacrificing himself to keep others safe. Maybe if his past life was as horrible as this Demon Emperor made it out to be it would be safer to keep himself away from them. He’d obviously brought to much karmic debt with him and that’s why his life had gone down hill. So BGG takes him back with him and thus starts a fraught story of JC trying to figure out what to do to keep this erratic creature from tearing him and anyone he loves apart in a fit whilst WWX goes insane trying to find away to get to and save his shidi. Maybe the center of the Burial Mounds has a Xin Mo buried in it. BGG would be swinging between being pissed that JC isn’t exactly like either Shizun and obsessed with the bits that are like them.
Anon, you simply must know that this is divine.
It wouldn't even take a moment of consideration for Jiang Cheng, would it? He's probably been obsessed with ensuring that the next Jiang-zongzhu would be well-prepared for their new role. "If I died tomorrow, would Wei Wuxian the true second-in-command in all but name during and after Sunshot Jin Ling while Jin Rusong was alive my second-in-command be able to lead the sect?" must be a question that haunts him. So Lotus Pier has been designed, and his disciples have been trained, for the inevitability of his death.
Do you think the idea of being The Worst Person Ever™ (according to PIDW Luo Binghe) would settle into Jiang Cheng's insecurities easily, nestling into his soul? I don't think he'd even need to be convinced; he would certainly not defend himself. When have Shen Jiu or Jiang Cheng ever defended themselves? ("To whom should I complain? Did I tell this, / Who would believe me?")
I think he'd ask for a moment with Jin Ling. And grasping, desperate, hungry Luo Binghe would allow it--if he can watch--so that he'd be able to observe how Jiang Cheng loves other people. So he can recognize the signs in case Jiang Cheng could ever love him.
Very fun concept. Jiang Cheng would be sooo miserable.

SVSSS AU - Real Villainy
Svsss au where Shen Jiu says fuck it and just becomes a real legit villain. He’s tried to do the right thing and it always goes wrong - maybe if he tries to be evil he’ll do good? Unlikely, but what other choice does he have at this point?.
He comes to Cang Qiong while Yue Qingyuan is still locked in the cave and finds out that, rather than give the man medical attention they shoved him in a cave to let the chips fall where they may.
Shen Jiu is like "wow, actually, fuck these guys" but he hangs around to learn from them, ends up head disciple of Qing Jing, then Yue Qingyuan is released from his cave and he's like "right. I'm busting us out of here"
But the peak lord of Qiong ding isn't going to let her successor go so easily and beats the tar out of Shen Jiu when he comes to sneak Yue Qingyuan out. Shen Jiu is slippery though and he escapes.
He is still head disiple of Qing Jing though. His Shizun is very fond of him and refuses to instate a new disiple, even though SJ has technically defected and fought the sect leader.
Teams up with some demon whose cultivator wife betrayed him because he's going to get his Qi-ge back if it kills him - well. Kills someone else. No point getting his Qi-ge if hes not alive to enjoy it.
Then he finds out the disciple was the head disciple of Huan Hua and he's like "oh, the girl with the pervert master?" And suddenly Tianlang Jun is like ',,, maybe we should find her first. Before we do the murder.'
They plant a body of Su Xiyan and raise baby binghe while they wait for it to grow.
Free uncle for Luo Binghe
Literally the day SXY crawls her way out of the ground (only took a year, but it was a year too long for SJ) the three of them - and binghe, in a baby sling - storm Qiong Ding and reclaim YQY.
The two of them enjoy their life as ‘cultivation consultants’ to the demonic emperor - aka, they baby sit Binghe and back Su Xiyan up when she tells Tianlang-jun that he’s being a moron.

BingJiu AU where SJ stays QJL's slave (and doesn't marry QHT), but desperately wants to escape and gain his freedom. Only that up until now all his attempts ended up in failure, including the one where he had set the mansion on fire one night (making YQY believe that SJ died)
But then one day he gets a chance when he runs into a young cultivator who is showing clear interest in SJ. Which gives SJ an idea how he could escape: Seduce the cultivator and while he is busy fighting QJL over him, use the distraction to finally flee for good.
And this plan actually goes off without a hitch, where he easily seduces the cultivator, who turns out to be even more powerful than anticipated and easily massacres the whole clan to steal SJ away. Only that during that time SJ flees together with the women of the household.
However as it then turns out the cultivator, LBH, is even more obsessive over SJ than even QJL ever was and is very good at finding SJ (thanks to the demon blood) But in the end SJ guesses it's way better being a pampered wife to the Demon Emperor, than the abused slave to QJL.

another MXTX crossover
Before XL ascends for the third time the Demon Emperor LBH is sealed away by JW in what would later become the Burial Mounds.
When WWX is thrown there, he finds the sealed demon T hanging by shackles on his wrists, his lower body submerged in a red Pool made of his own blood.
LBH and WWX make a deal to help each other.
Now, during the fight in which LBH was sealed, SQQ died, he is reborn as SY, one of WQ's patients (also his older bro SJ is WQ's apprentice) and is part of the group rescued by WWX (along with SJ obv)
First, LBH helps WWX with his revenge and then protect the Wen Remnants (especially because he is pretty sure SY is the reincarnation of his beloved Shizun), and WWX will help him break the seal and heal (LBH is also considering getting his revenge on the heavens but that's a Problem for XL)
WWX dies anyway but LBH protects the Wens and they manage to survive and live in the Burial Mounds.
LBH takes care of WWX's soul until it disappears one day and he goes out to search for it along with SY & WY
The TGCF story happens after the MDZS story is over.
While investigating, HuaLian discover that some heavenly officials were involved in the MDZS tragedies,
This is also discovered by LBH, who decides to get revenge, so him (and NHS) end up getting involved with the TGCF plot
Slowly but surely becoming a threat to the heavens.
Hualian and LBH (and friends) meet and they end up working together

Here’s a quick au concept for you: post-PIDW SJ wakes up as a child again, and assumes he’s time travelled somehow. He decides to join Cang Qiong for just long enough to become a decent cultivator, and then he can fuck off. Unfortunately for him, he doesn’t realise until too late that he hasn’t time travelled at all — he’s still at the same point in time, just in a different timeline. One where SQQ died of a qi deviation a few months after LBH became a disciple, and then after a decade-long official mourning period a new peak lord was chosen from his remaining students to replace him… and of course, it’s LBH
Why would Shen Jiu think he's time travelled? The moment he finds out what the year is or hears who the emperor is, he can figure out that he's alive in a pre-Emperor Luo Binghe era, yes. He's a crafty person who knows the right people to get information from. He's not going to march straight to Cang Qiong sect and join it - he's going to check things out. Moreover, he was only at Cang Qiong for Yue Qingyuan and the sect wasn't a happy place for him. Add in that inferiority complex / self hatred and he's going to think that staying away from Cang Qiong will protect Yue Qingyuan.
So Shen Jiu's much more likely to come to the (correct) conclusion that he's in another world/iteration where things went differently. In his memory, he remembers surviving that severe qi deviation, but evidently this life was another story. And the beast isn't some Demonic Emperor, being too busy managing Qing Jing Peak. It infuriates Shen Jiu of course that his peak was handed to the beast, but... the world isn't torn into war and chaos. It only goes to prove to himself that he was the root of all problems.
(More reason for him to avoid Cang Qiong at all cost.)
This AU is going to give so many knives to Shen Jiu's heart from all the "realizations" of how much better off everyone is if he died earlier.
(He doesn't see any of the Qing generation peak lords' grief or of Qing Jing disciples' struggle to cope without their strict shizun.)

Liu Qingge faked his death in PIDW AU.
LQG needs to go undercover, maybe to unravel a secret plot against the sect, or maybe because of some strange occurrences in the demon realm. He and Shen Jiu have noticed something seems off about a lot of the missions they've been tasked with, and even suspect someone in the sect may be a traitor.
So, LQG and SJ decide to send LQG off investigating. A few years are barely of consequence in an immortal's lifespan. But to ensure secrecy, they decide to make his death, making it seem like he had a Qi deviation.
SJ begins to regret this decision the second people start to accuse him. They didn't plan for that, but he hopes it will stop soon. It doesn't, but by then he can't risk revealing LQG in case he's somewhere dangerous.
So SJ just accepts the accusations, his marital sibling's hatred, his Qi-Ge's disappointment. Afterall, LQG will return in a few years, a miniscule amount in an immortal's lifespan. He can withstand it for now.
Only, the trial happens before LQG returns. In fact, at this time LQG is far from most civilisations. He hasn't even heard about the going ons of the sect for a while. SJ, unwilling to risk LQG's safety or compromise the mission, chooses to keep his silence in the trial.
LQG comes back while SJ is still in the Water Prison, but before YQY is killed trying to rescue him.
What I think would make sense is not that Shen Jiu and Liu Qingge don't communicate while Liu Qingge is off on his secret mission, but rather it's a very limited communication and Shen Jiu is much too proud to write about how he's suffering. Plus it would take up too much space and distract Liu Qingge from the mission.
Shen Jiu needs to direct Liu Qingge to any new information/rumors that Shen Jiu has heard about the cultivation world to keep Liu Qingge from running into other cultivators. Shen Jiu is also far better at analyzing things than Liu Qingge.
This mission makes Liu Qingge trust his shixiong far more. He would like to think that they are close, friendly even, because writing letters has prevented Liu Qingge from sticking his fat foot into his mouth and pissing of Shen Jiu inadvertently. He's also figured out how Shen Jiu collects his intel (via brothel workers) so that clears up a lot of their miscommunications too.
Liu Qingge still thinks that Shen Jiu is a rich noble son, but he's also wondering if Shen Jiu is from a destitute noble family that maybe lost their wealth and prestige (maybe they lost the emperor's favor or the patriarch committed a crime?) because Shen Jiu knows a little too much about how street rats think and act.
This mission has taught Liu Qingge to think more and be less impulsive.
When he completes a month long sidequest to his main mission and comes no new letters from his shixiong, he is worried. He's noticed how Shen Jiu talks less and less about the ongoings of the sect, of how Shen Jiu has requested Liu Qingge to send qiankun pouches of herbs and other important goods to the Qing Jing peak that could have been supplied by the rest of Cang Qiong and yet Shen Jiu would rather take (small) risk of having Liu Qingge send it to him instead.
Liu Qingge immediately sets out to return to Cang Qiong. He's already completely most of this mission and the rest can be wrapped up from Cang Qiong. Probably.

Related to SJ cat owner au, in what timeline bingge are from? Is he the demon emperor/king from the og timeline? If he is, does that mean he have met SY before (based on the extra chapter)?
Imagine SY and SJ being friends somehow (maybe they met online or they live near each other or he knows him through Shen Yu) will bingge recognize SY?

He doesn't know that Shen Yuan's soul was the one in Luo Bingmei's shizun's body; he thinks he's found himself a nice shizun in this world since Shen Jiu does (begrudgingly) like pets. And Bingpup is a very very cute pet.
In this AU, Shen Jiu is dating Shen Yuan's da-ge so Shen Yuan does visit his da-ge's boyfriend! But being in a poor health, Shen Yuan isn't supposed to be around animals, or so his family says. Bingpup and all the cats get herded into a bedroom whenever Shen Yuan comes around, which is pretty rare. Shen Jiu normally meets Shen Yuan elsewhere.
