Finally ordered my death and floral perfumes last night!!
Tumblr media
I got this one and “nothing rusts in the desert and the air is full of ghosts” (Pink cactus flowers and sweet grass with notes of warm rain and woody dry vanilla— already went through a roller of it so I’m getting more, my signature scent if I have one I think) and also single note Prickly Pear for layering. I’m looking forward to seeing (smelling) how it layers with nothing rusts in particular

death and floral- pumpkin boooudh
from the website: "Dark pumpkin mash topped with golden vanilla, a blend of ghostly white oudh, black oudh, and dry woody oudh."
this one is very pretty! it is also another one that's gonna be immediately shelved for next fall because of that pumpkin note. the vanilla comes through really nicely too! i'm not super familiar with oudhs so i dont really have anything to compare it to, which is a shame, but i like it!!

Why have black clothes been worn at funerals for centuries? It Is Not The Only Cause That It Invokes Death!
New Post has been published on https://hazirbilgi.com/why-have-black-clothes-been-worn-at-funerals-for-centuries/
Why have black clothes been worn at funerals for centuries? It Is Not The Only Cause That It Invokes Death!
You may think that black clothes are preferred in funeral ceremonies because that color evokes evil, death and darkness. While this is partially true, it is not the only reason.
While black, a color that absorbs light and all colors, usually symbolizes power, passion, nobility, solitude, mystery, sobriety and balance; sometimes it is the color of escape, loss or rebellion.
Today, along with all these, it has become the color of funeral ceremonies . In the funerals you attend or witness, you will see that people generally prefer dark colors and most of the time they prefer black clothes.
There are also cultures that prefer colors such as white, yellow and red for their funeral ceremonies.
A few of them are as follows: In India and China, white is believed to represent purity,  so white is preferred in funerals and mourning ceremonies. In the Republic of South Africa and Ghana, the color red is preferred for funerals and mourning ceremonies. In addition, purple in Thailand, yellow in Myanmar and finally blue in Iran are preferred.
Let’s travel a bit in history to understand the reason why black color is preferred in funerals.
In the Roman Empire, royal families wore dark robes when mourning. When we came to the Middle Ages, the church clarified it as the color black and made it mandatory. The common belief in churches at that time was that the  color black expelled evil spirits and demons.
Ordinary people could not buy and wear these clothes because the black dye that gave color to the clothes was expensive. Another reason why ordinary people could not choose the color in question was that they were forbidden to imitate aristocrats. Therefore, only high-status people, namely royalty and aristocrats, could wear these colors.
Funeral influencer Queen Victoria may have made it fashionable.
When we come to a little more recent history, we greet Queen Victoria with 40 years of mourning after the death of her husband, Prince Albert . After the death of her husband, the queen gradually wore black clothes during her 40-year mourning, which gradually became fashionable. Widowed women started to wear black between 6 months and 1 year.
After the Industrial Revolution, with the development of paint shops, paint became cheaper to produce. Especially in the 1900s, black clothes could now be mass-produced and were accessible to everyone. The reflection of this on funeral ceremonies is that ordinary people can now wear clothes of this color at funerals and while mourning.
Of course, the magazines published at that time may have triggered this. In the magazines, everything from the clothes that a person should wear at the funeral to how the funeral should be done was explained in detail.

I get almost no lavender from this scent but I loveeeee it regardless. It has a powdery quality that gets associated with “old lady perfume” (which is probably the iris note) that I find charming and comforting and elegant without being fussy or fancy. I think I do get the rain notes. I might try to get the stronger formulation of this to see what that’s like.
