im still not sure which or if i have either, but i have a lot of the symptoms (one being a thicc beard) I tried to get diagnosed with PCOS sort of when I was 17, and the doctor just told me to lose weight 🙃 i only recently found out about ncah and that also seems like a possibility,,,

anyway, ive been questioning whether or not I'd be "considered" intersex for awhile, but ive been looking through your tags and its very affirming!

I'm glad my posts have helped! And im sorry the doctor are treated you like that. A lot of us experience the same thing, and I understand how frustrating it is. I hope you can find a doctor who takes you seriously soon. You deserve to know what's going on with your body.

And not that I'm a doctor, but if you have a beard, especially a thick one, the odds that you do have pcos, ncah, or even some other intersex variation are pretty decent. I obviously don't know much about you, but from the little you've said here I don't see much a reason to say you wouldn't be considered intersex, if you so chose to identify as it.

You know your experiences best though, and no matter what conclusion you come to your experiences will always be valid. If you end up IDing as intersex, then I welcome you to the community. If you don't, then hey, allies! And if it helps any (probably mentioned this in others asks your read but), I don't know what I have either. But I'm here, intersex and proud. Oh, and i hope you have a great day too 😊

this is random and years late but: i would like to say that i was 14 when i asked this. i was a young ass confused queer and just trying to ask a question to one of my fav blogs and got this reply. i obvs feel very different abt the topic now, but yikers this kinda stuck with me and not in a good way

so I saw this a few days ago and have been thinking carefully about how to reply to you and to speak on my writing from six years ago. it’s going to be long because I don’t really know how to write short things, it turns out.

I want to start, of course, by profusely and sincerely apologizing to you. reading what I wrote in 2014, while I agree with my sentiment, it’s clear that the way I spoke to you was rude, condescending, and entirely unwarranted. you were a stranger asking a question and my reply was deeply unkind. there is no excuse for my action then, as it was my responsibility to try to understand who I was talking to and, having chosen to act as an educator on the subject, found a much better way to communicate my opinions. I am really, truly sorry for how I spoke to you. Even more so that you were a young queer teenager trying to understand yourself, but regardless of who you were I should have been better, and I wasn’t. I would like to explain why I believe I answered the way I did; not to make excuses for myself, because I know I am responsible for my actions no matter what I’m doing, but just to explain why, if that’s something that you might find helpful.

at the time when I wrote this post, I had just graduated from college and I was both devastated and wholly unprepared to be an adult in the world. college had been amazing because I was always surrounded by friends and by like-minded scholars and interesting classes and most importantly, a schedule dictated to me. immediately after graduating I was isolated from my friends, I was lacking in direction, and I fell into a depression so deep that all I did from the tail end of 2014 for about a full year was sleep all day, stay up all night, sit in my room and cry and contemplate the possibility of killing myself. (also I apparently played Dragon Age Origins at least 35 times all the way through according to my save files??) I didn’t go out. I didn’t shower or brush my teeth. I didn’t do anything but think about how miserable and angry and sad I was. I have partial memory loss due to the depth of my depression so all I really remember from that time is how bad it felt to be alive. I don’t remember anything I did or wrote but I know that I was honestly just really, really nasty. I was nasty to my family, who took care of me, I withdrew from my friends out of shame, I was mean to strangers on the internet. And, obviously, you were one of those strangers.

again, this information does not excuse me from how I acted. I knew at the time that it was wrong, I knew I was being shitty, and I didn’t care. I knew better, but it didn’t stop me from behaving poorly. not only to you, but to many people online and offline. you didn’t deserve to be on the receiving end of my grief and anger.

(what I want to say about the original post is this: I believe that we as LGBTQ+ people should be allowed to tell our own stories, and that even if an actor does a fine job playing a part, it isn’t appropriate if they are selected over queer people who surely would do it better.)

but back to you. I’m incredibly sorry that I answered you the way I did, I’m sorry I treated a young teenager looking for information so condescendingly, and I’m sorry that it stuck with you in a way that has been harmful. I’m especially sorry that I let you down so hard when you had come to me for information as a trusted source. and I’m sorry that I hurt you so badly that you’ve thought about it for so long. I hope that you were able to find better role models and people who were supportive of you, and that you were able to learn and grow the way you deserved.

not really sure how to round this off beyond that I don’t anticipate hearing from you again, and that’s completely fine. but I hope you see this, at least, and I hope that maybe if nothing else you’ll get closure, which is all I can try to offer you.
