Thinking so often about Shin's line of being jealous of Krillin's and 18's relationship and love...there's a possibility that I'm taking it too serious (I am) but there's something so cute about it! Watching all those mortals living their lives and growing old together...it's not something that's constantly on his mind but he's a hopeless little romantic in my head. Give this tiny man a hug and a smooch right now, he needs it and deserves it!

How Toriyama/Toyotaro salvaged "End of Z"
Tumblr media
Let me start this post with a personal confession that may or may not be unpopular: I have very little interest in Dragon Ball DAIMA. I have slightly more than I used to after Akira Toriyama's death since I am naturally curious to see what the last Dragon Ball related material he ever produced is like, but otherwise it still looks like just a different take on Dragon Ball GT, my least favorite Dragon Ball series, except that more characters than just Goku turn young and it's the Demon Realm that's being explored instead of space. It also doesn't help that the head writer, Yuko Kakihara, makes me nervous - she's done fine work as an episodic script writer on anime such as Fresh Pretty Cure, My Bride is a Mermaid, and Pokémon Journeys, and she was fantastic as the head writer of IRODUKU: The World in Color. But in terms of shows closer to what Dragon Ball DAIMA seems like, she was head writer on that god-awful Stitch anime that Disney stupidly allowed to be made. Worse still, she was the writer of Digimon Adventure Tri. So you can understand why I have reservations.
Point is, I consider Dragon Ball DAIMA to be a sideshow, regardless of what its merits may end up being. For me personally, it's the manga/anime trilogy of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super that really counts the most. And as tragic as the circumstances behind the end of Toriyama's involvement on the latter are, I am highly impressed what he and his mangaka protégée Toyotaro were able to accomplish. With three major steps, they have substantially retconned the notoriously underwhelming ending of the original manga series and DBZ anime, known as "End of Z" among fans, in a way that makes a satisfying closure.
The first step was way back in Dragon Ball Online. Toriyama was involved back then in canonically mapping out the future of the Dragon Ball world, long after Goku, his friends and his family have passed away. And a major part of that was how Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Pan affected that world for the better in their adult lives. Gohan in particular has a masterful end to his long struggle between being a fighter and being a scholar by becoming a scholar on ki fighting techniques, publishing a study that makes it widely possible for humans around the world to master ki control and gain flight and energy blasts. It's a perfect outcome for him.
The second step was through Toriyama's involvement in the new movies and Super series. End of Z now cannot happen the way it was presented in the original manga and anime. There are way too many discrepancies, from character appearances, the lack of certain characters who it would make little sense not to be there, and details like "none of Goku's friends saw him for 5 years before then" which have now been completely contradicted. Obviously the 28th Budokai where Goku meets Uub and takes him under his wing for training is still canon, but that event is now free to transpire in a far more plausible and satisfactory way than the famously rushed, haphazard and OOC way in which it was depicted before.
The third and final step was the last collaboration between Toriyama and Toyotaro in the Super manga. The final three chapters they worked on together were an epilogue to the story of the Super Hero film, actually tying its plot together with the side plot featuring Goku and Vegeta on Beerus' planet. Perhaps responding to prevalent criticisms, the movie had already made a major point of showing how the world can still be successfully defended by the Z Fighters even without Goku and Vegeta being there. And in these three chapters, the point is carried even further by having Goku test what the new generation is capable of, a theme that's even reflected in the final chapter's title, "Passing On To The Future". This completely recontextualizes End of Z. Originally made as a laughable attempt to salvage the "Goku passing the torch" direction with Uub in place of Gohan after Toriyama botched it so badly with him, now it makes Uub only the latest in a large field of fighters that includes Gohan. Now it's Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Pan, even Broly of all people, who are being gathered as Earth's next line of defense once Goku and Vegeta finally expire. Uub will join that group. (Oh, and being Namekian, both Piccolo and Dende will still be around to assist, of course.)
So while the narrative of Dragon Ball may have peaked with the Cell Saga, now the Majin Buu Saga -> Battle of Gods Saga -> Resurrection F Saga -> Universe 6 Saga -> Future Trunks / Goku Black Saga -> Universe Survival Saga -> Broly Saga -> Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga -> Granolah the Survivor Saga -> Super Hero Saga -> End of Z together create a worthier follow-up than just the Majin Buu Saga -> End of Z was back in the day. Certainly not perfect, even when leaving the loose ends out of it (so Freeza's just gonna stay loose out there with a new ultimate form?), but feeling much closer to a fully realized ending.
Thank you, Toriyama. You made it up as you went along right to the very end, but as usual, your remarkable creative talent managed to make it all fit together. You are deeply missed.

Love for Launch
Rest in peace, Akira Toriyama. Thoughts on that under the cut.
Just found out what happened this morning... genuinely, I'm crushed. Akira Toriyama was, no joke, the sole reason I started drawing. I watched Dragon Ball Z for the first time when I was around 11 years old, and I was so impressed with the characters, the art style, the storytelling, the colors, the... everything, that it inspired me to create art of my own as well. I remember sitting in my room, copying the way Toriyama drew faces, trying to match the same expressiveness in my own art. I remember feeling so excited for the weekends, because that was when episodes of DBZ would air. That was when it came to me, I wanted to be like him. I wanted to be an artist.
Toriyama and I never met, but his works were both a comfort and a source of inspiration for me. And now that he's gone, I... don't really know what to say. I'm so sad.
I started this drawing before we all heard the news, and I confess that it wasn't originally meant to be a memorial piece. I just wanted to draw Launch, because I like her. But now, this is for him. Toriyama, please be happy somewhere, you've brought a lot of people joy while you were on Earth, and you will continue to bring people joy in spirit.

The funimation localization talk reminds me whilst they seem to have gotten better lately, they did real terrible localization changes that fans entirely gave them a a pass on.
Like giving Vegeta a line about how his bad childhood made him a villain when he originally said nothing like that. They also altered lines in flashbacks about Vegeta's fathe to make him a hero when originally he was a powerhungry villain that only tried to overthrow fellow villain, Frieza, so as to replace him, raising the questions to english fans about why Vegeta's dad was in Hell.
Similarly Goku is given a Superman esque "I don't kill people" stance, even though he kills people all the time and the only reason he doesn't kill people like Vegeta in the Saiyan Saga, is because he loves fighting strong warriors and finds it a waste to kill them.
Or another time, Bulma and Chi-Chi were having a casual conversation in the Japanese version, which the english version turned to them wanting to trade husbands and referring to Krillin as a downgrade.
This again didn't make sense with the animation such as Krillin laughing when Chi-Chi insulted him in the dub or Chi-Chi's dislike of Vegeta+saiyan warrior culture in Japanese.
:(
And to think (afaik?) that Funi's dub was the one who yeeted to Falconer OST to return to the original one ! - but they still had to bring some unecessary edits...
Goku not killing people? Seriously? I guess Tao Pai Pai survived, but at the time Goku threw him his bomb, I don't think he planned for him to survive - granted, DB and DBZ Goku are, at times, completely different characters...
tbf the "i don't kill people if they're strong so we can fight again" is utter nonsense, if Frieza being "supposedly" vaporise on Namek when he tried to backstab him is any indication - Vegeta might have gotten a pass because Goku didn't defeat him himself (it was a combined effort of Krilin, Gohan and gfdi Yajirobe) - but Goku at the end of the Namek Saga meant for Frieza to die (when Frieza pisses on his mercy and tries to kill him after using the "plz spare me plz" card once!).
Bulma trash talking Krilin is a normal staple in their relationship, but why adding Chi-Chi to the mix lol?
Anyways, I agree with you on one point, the Funi of 2020 isn't the Funi of the early 2000s and it's, imo, a step in the good direction, and while I confess I'm utterly biased because I grew up in the 4Kids era... the dubbing industry has made gigantic steps since that era - which makes nonsense like Pat's Fire Emblem TreeHouse look even more ridiculous and upsetting, given how this was released in 2019 and not in 1999.

confession: i read dballzposting like its the daily newspaper biweekly. Like wow....... trunks really does sorta need a different kind of fatha figure (cloth mother) in his life... gohan and goten are both kinda rly fcked in the head just a little bit but they have such drastically different approaches to finding peace andd enlightenment or watever.. yamcha is SO milfy.... this is all true no falsehoods hsve been spoken here
I would never have thought about yajirobe like dat.... bear w me cuz im a little disorganized rn but when i think about him hes like. everything being human is all about. he lived as he pleased, authenticly. a vagabond that truly does not need to gaf. He's a survivor, and Everything he did was out of survival, for himself and later for others. Of course he was a little self-serving and dishonest at times, but he did what he knew he was capable of and he did that very well. Yajirobe's got being human really figured out.
Then he meets thar cat and he LICKS HIM!!!!!
anyways peace and love on earth forever and ever 💋 💯 have a good night dballzposting
WOAH ...
SO LEGITEMATE.
#RESPECT.
You really do read da slop and glean the most beauty out of it .. you have a beautoful mind and i am honored ..
I especially like this part: "gohan and goten are both kinda rly fcked in the head just a little bit but they have such drastically different approaches to finding peace andd enlightenment or watever" That is so true and addressed so plainly .. I dont think i ever said that but ive probably implied it bc it's on my mind a lot .. But that's your synthesis ... Beautoful stuff ..
I don't know what you mean by you "would never have thought about yajirobe like dat" becasue judging by what you have written here you nailed it. Like I obviiously think that becasue you're borrowing words from my own posts so yeah like i agree... but thats what i mean. I especially like this part: "but he did what he knew he was capable of and he did that very well. Yajirobe's got being human really figured out." HE DOES DO WHAT HE DOES WELL AND NO MORE .... HE'S GOT IT ALL FIGURED OUT <3
Our supposed disagreement presumably lies in the following line about him LICKING THAT DAMN CAT !!! But it's not a disagreemnt actually (not that you seem to care much about disagreeing with it anyway BTW youre so real for that) and I can explain.
That notion came from THIS HILARIOUS POST that was so awesome and that i loved so much becasue it floored me so profoundly and was so funny ...
It made me think a lot about whether he actually licks that cat or not ... I NEVER would have thought of that before ... but if something is really funny then I'll believe it no problem. But i had/have a lot of conflicting ideas about it.
Then came the discovery that in TFS's DBZ abridged they had Yajirobe and Korin be gay married and yknow love wins <3 but again I never would have thought of it like thag.
So I think that we are on the same page <3
My formal professional Yajirobe Opinion is that: he consistently refers to Korin as "karin-sama" in the japanese dub and that honorific I think is a constant reminder of the discrepancy between the two's status and furthermore Yajirobe is not capable of romance so i dont think tht he could gay marry the cat sorry .. But i have a lot of thoughts about what I just said. A story is worth telling if you want to tell it and when you borrow character already pre-established in something in order to tell it, well it's a bit of a situation becasue now you have to conform to the original author's writing of the characters otherwise what's the point of borrowing them ... I think ... And that's always been the line for me: whether it's feasibly in-character or not .. otherwise it feels weird and makes me a bit sick (PERSONAL FEELINGS NOT A JUDGEMENT) . .. If you can make something seem in-character or CONVINCE YOURSELF THAT IT IS then a story passes. Otherwise I'd prefer that one be honest about their intentions and admit outright something like "yeah this is out of character but I'm projecting and have a vested interest in telling these sorts of events" or something. And that's totally fine like i dare not cast taboo onto the indomitable human spirit
The UNIVERSAL EXCEPTION however has always been IF IT'S FUNNY THEN IT LITERALLY WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Partly due to the way that often funny things are funny becasue theyre true or true-adjacent. BUT NOT ALWAYS !!!!
You didnt ask for this ramble. What is my point
My point is that I definitely think that it is insane to portray romance between Yajirobe and Korin, but intimacy less than that is honestly agreeable and passable because it's either funny or pleasant to see.
That being said: A.) I Love Insanity B.) I WANT EVERYONE TO FOLLOW THEIR HEART'S CALL!! NEVER DENY YOUR HEART YOUR CAREFUL ATTENTION!! NEVER JUDGE IT!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!! C.) I Really Strongly Admire That Tumblr User (Linked Earlier) for Following Their Heart Despite Their Obvious Implicit Insecurities And For Drawing Yajirobe x Korin Stuff I Loved That So Much and I think that they're so Strong and On The Right Path D.) Love Wins <3
I mean if he gay married that cat then that would be sooo funny like NO one knew (least of all him) that his life would end up this way but Korin is a crazy bitch and let this happen so now we're here. And that's beautful <3
To borrow your words:
PEACE AND LOVE ON EARTH FOREVER AND EVER !!!!💋 💯
Thank You All

Ok, so to kick-start a series of x reader one-shots I plan on doing, I'm gonna start off with a TFP Knockout x bullied!human!reader(fem).
(Also, If you have any requests feel free to ask. I'll be doing, TfP(Transformers Prime), MTMtE(Transformers More Than Meets the Eye), TfA(Transformers Animated), TfG1(Transformers Generation 1) DBZ(Dragon Ball Z), MHA/BnHA(My Hero Academia/Boku no Hero Academia), and CsM(Chainsaw Man).
Knockout x bullied!human!reader
When Knockout came to pick you up from collage and you weren't there, he started to worry. You were always there on time, always. He waited another 10 minutes, and then started to panic. What if something happened to you? What if someone with bad intentions got to you?! He drove around to the back of the school and started to investigate. While snooping around he found one of your books, and then a few yards away was one of your gel-pens. And he continued to follow the trail of you belongings, till he found himself outside a dark and sketchy alleyway. This was not good. What if someone had killed you!? He left his lights off as he made his way down the alley. He swore, if anyone dared to lay a finger on his human, he'd give them a fate worse than death itself. When he got to the end of the alley, he saw it. There was a group of young human boys over you, beating you and touching you in places only he was aloud to touch.
"Come on baby girl," one of them started, kicking you once in the shin, "we only wanna have a lil' fun~" he was about to touch your brest, when Knockout honked his horn at him. "Whoa!" one of the other boys exclaimed, "what a trash ride! Cherry red? How tacky can you be?"
Oh no. Not happening. Nobody messed with his human, and then proceeded to mock his paint. Nuh uh. Nope. "KO. Please," he heard you whimper. "Shut up bich," a third boy said, slapping you in the face. Knockout transformed and glared down at them menacingly. They all looked so frightened, it disgusted the mech. They ran away in fear, and just as the con was about to grab one of them, he heard your voice, "KO, don't."
He wanted to kill them so badly. He wanted to tare them apart and hang their scraps off the side of the Nemesis. But you didn't, so he couldn't. He turned to you and scooped you up in his servo. "Don't worry, I'll fix whatever they did to you." He said to you, his alluring voice soothing you a bit. He transformed and plopped you into his passenger seat, wrapping his seatbelt around your waist. "What did they do," he asked, concern slipping through his voice. "Just a few bruises and a cut," you answered, trying not to sound as warn-down as you were. Then you heard sirens behind you. "KO how fast are you going?" you asked. "102, why?" he answered. "KNOCKOUT THE SPEED-LIMIT'S 75!" you shouted at him. "Oh, come on. Like they'll ever catch me," he than began to pick up speed, zooming past everything and everyone untill they far enough away from all the people to call a groundbridge.
Back on the Nemesis he patched you up, then proceeded to interrogate you on who those people where. After a while you finally confessed that they were bullies from your school and that you said something they didn't like so they wanted "payback".
"KO it's fine, I could've handled it myself," you pouted to him, to which he scoffed. "You call that 'handling it'? If I hadn't interfered, you could have been hurt a lot worse then you were," he scolded you. You sighed and looked away shamefully. He was right. If it weren't for him you could've been in the ER right now. "Look Y/N, I actually care what happens to you. Now how 'bout we head somewhere more private so you can make up for worrying me so much~" he slurred his words, making a tingle go up your spine. "Wh-what kind of payback would you have?" You said looking up at him, seeing the small twinkle in his optics. "You'll see~" he said, picking you up and taking you out of the med bay to his berthroom.

Custom Toonami Block Week 160 Rundown
Spy X Family: This one’s a relatively serious affair focusing on Yuri tailing a guy that’s forging propaganda which seems like a lot of work considering if you can’t find a government doing something shitty, especially one of these turn of the century police states, you’re probably not looking hard enough. Still it’s a nice change of pace for this to be pretty light on comedy and have Yuri methodically watch this guy be a douche but someone that cares about his family and arrest the guy but still want to help his family at the end of the day. It’s also a neat little release that when he goes to visit Yor Anya basically reads the whole episode from his mind and feels sorry for him and basically all his logic goes out the window once Yor praises him. The remainder of the episode is a little short of the in-universe tv show Bondman basically making itself a harem anime like ‘The 100 Girlfriends and the Spy who really really really really really really loved them’ and it’s just becoming more and more questionable that this is where Anya’s worldview comes from, maybe she’d be better off watching Becky’s soap operas after all, though at least Bondman does still promote a sense of borderless globalism and peace which has got to be a hard sell in this world specifically but it’s a good influence on kids like Anya who are going to grow up healing from decades of nationalism and war. Then there’s also like three 4koma-ass omake style things with quick jokes, they’re okay, never been a huge fan of the 4koma style since they kinda reuse punchlines for effect and don’t have as much setup.
Inuyasha: It’s a “Kagome returns to the present” episode with some ‘Inuyasha talked about Kikyo for five seconds so Kagome’s moody’ thrown in honestly these are usually pretty solid comedy-wise though this one does kinda suffer from getting caught in the Kikyo spiral that’s been getting less and less coherent as Kagome’s character’s developed and they continue to get mad at Inuyasha for… being happy she’s not literally dead? Either way it’s got some good physical comedy of Inuyasha trying to fix a bike that has the same vibes as the ‘Goku doing normal shit with the powers of a god’ episodes of DBZ which is always a treat, and apparently for some reason he can’t use the Adamant Barrage in the present which I don’t think was ever explained but it’s fine since the present basically doesn’t exist in canon past a certain point so the filler can say whatever it wants. The other half of the comedy comes from Kagome’s friends wanting to meet Inuyasha and finally seeing him and… kinda having a completely normal conversation with him by complete accident, like Inuyasha’s chill/oblivious enough to not say anything too stupid and it’s really funny how they recognize him from the cultural festival arc like the filler’s been quietly having its own story about Kagome’s friends learning more about her exploits and it’s a nice little throughline even if it doesn’t amount to anything, though it does draw a more clear line around the Inuyasha/Kagome/Hojo love triangle they had in the beginning since Kagome has officially confessed to Inuyasha at this point and her friends draw a line that despite not entirely being sure about Inuyasha they like him well enough and Hojo is officially out. I’ve said it before but I really wanted Yashahime to give us a well-adapted Hojo with a cool wife that loves him because he’s a sweet boy and did not deserve all the romantic yanking around this story gave him.
Yu Yu Hakusho: It’s time for Yomi versus Shura and this didn’t go how I thought it would at all. Like I don’t remember this arc very well and only saw a couple episodes of it to begin with but yeah, Yomi vs Shura is just a series of DBZ moves with Yomi going ‘DO YOU YIELD!?’ and beating the shit out of his child in a more mild recreation of that scene from Invincible. Shura has the shonen protagonist spirt and doesn’t back down but Yomi’s eventually just like ‘bro I am literally going to kill you if you say you won’t give up one more time’ and Shura gives up so like… what was the point of any of that? Like Yomi was going easy on him to teach him shit but didn’t really teach him anything and Shura’s spirit is admirable but gets broken at the end so like what was the point of the ‘I have a secret son who’s super strong I swear’ plotline? Like the reason I didn’t predict things going this way was because… it kinda doesn’t make sense, like the new mystery character is supposed to have an impact on the tournament not get kicked out before it starts, this’d be like if that guy with Dakrai got beaten before he even got to fight Ash. I don’t know I’m just kinda confused about where the arc is going and Yusuke fights a giant cat demon for like five seconds, like it feels like the arc doesn’t have a lot of time but it keeps inventing filler fights to pad things out anyway.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Geto squares off against Megumi Sr. to avenge Riko and turns out JJH has the same flaw back then that it does now where if you’re just some dude and know where to look you can kinda just walk right in and since Megumi Sr. is the ultimate love child of Rock Lee and Tenten and is able to hide his pocket dimension spirit like he’s smuggling drugs at an airport terminal, he can just poke his head right in no problem. You’d think they’d fix that flaw considering it’s the exact same one Mahito used to steal the fingers and the womb brothers. But yeah Megumi Sr. kicks Geto’s ass, considering his two major losses are this and a kid with an angry girlfriend and two weeks of sword training I’m starting to doubt his claim to being the ‘strongest’ with Gojo. Megudad delivers Riko’s body to the crazy cult and picks up his money and FUCKING GOJO is just standing outside the building like ‘sup’ like he’s still covered in his own blood and shit and it’s great cause he’s just high off his ass like full Gear Fifth laughing and not caring about anything. Turns out Gojo works on Aizen rules and almost dying makes him stronger because it let him figure out the healing techniques and considering that’s a whole half of his power that just opened up plus the fact he can multiply that half with the half he already had to be exponentially stronger he’s gonna kick Megumi Sr’s ass with the power of MATH. Just a full on SAO Abridged ‘MY NUMBERS ARE HIGHER THAN YOURS’ deal and he blows Dadgumi a new chest hole, between this and how Geto’s defeated I think the author just really likes the ‘blow an arm and half their chest off’ pose. He tells Gojo about Megumi on a whim, though maybe for some fleeting pity for his son despite Gojo having every reason to go and kick the kid in the nuts and watch him be sold off to slavery for what his dad did. Still with the final stinger we find Geto’s found Daddad’s cursed spirit and finds Gojo with all the HappyHappyists cheering for him for grabbing Riko’s corpse. Gojo’s just like ‘you know I’m pretty high right now, could probably just murder all these cultist and not be torn up inside about it’ and we show that despite both their foundations being rocked, Geto’s still on the side of not wanting to hurt normal people even as Gojo’s starting to teeter on the edge.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off: Ramona continues the Great Scott Pilgrim Investigation of whatever the fuck year this is supposed to be, I forget. This time the focus is Lucas Lee, movie star and potential Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater secret character. Now something that’s been going on in the background that I haven’t really mentioned is what appears to be a multidimensional robot feeding Scott’s dumbest acquaintance a script of what is presumably the original Scott Pilgrim series which is now getting made into a movie which would presumably be the original live action movie or at least similar to it. The funny part is Lucas plays Scott instead of himself and they have a good amount of fun with the who plays who deal like Lucas getting in more trouble for dating a 31 year old actress playing a teenager than Scott got in for dating an actual teenager and the whole thing has an Ember Island Players vibe with everyone kind of picking at how their performances are adapted and how things they do are unrealistic in retrospect. There’s a big skateboard fight with paparazzi ninjas because that’s just the kind of series this is, and Ramona gets what she needs to clear Lucas while getting a good flashback of humanizing their relationship. Gotta say though, I mentioned this last time and while the Exes do seem to be entitled jerks who mostly feel they own Ramona, she DOES seem to be REALLY bad at ending relationships and really flighty about who she’s interested in, like she herself claims she’s different now and I have no clue what might’ve caused that change because if it’s just Scott being adorkable I think I’d puke but yeah while it doesn’t really justify creating a whole evil Evangelion council dedicated to claiming dominion of a single American girl, I kinda get the frustration these guys have that engendered that kind of anger if Ramona’s just hopping around without actually communicating the end of these relationships, like girl seems like she’s got some issues.
Ranking of Kings: This one’s a follow-up to last week’s episode about Ouken with his presumably filler friend Fren breaking the Underworld Law about monsters not being allowed above the surface. Long story short he and a bunch of his friends stage his death so he can search and the gist that the guys are like ‘oh yeah it’s over there where Bosse is’ and Fren considers his job done and Desha and Despa are like ‘well we already killed Fren so whoever this guy is giving us helpful info must be an imposter so get out of her losers’. And it’s just like… so many questions, like Fren barely looks monstrous but apparently he’s not allowed on the surface but the bulky probably monstrous order of the underworld knights are? Also like all this for something we could assume the kings could find out on their own like Miranjo’s not a huge secret and they never even establish how Fren found out about her so this could’ve been an email if Desha and Despa were doing their best to look for demon traces idk, even when we get new content from this season it feel like Naruto filler where it’s like ‘here’s a backstory for something that you could’ve assumed was common sense’. The other bit is about the underworld guards training Despa’s fat horse so that’s kind of dumb amusement I guess.
Vinland Saga: Snake gets Thorfinn patched up after his little run-in and gives him a blast of good old Conqueror’s Haki to let him know he means business about trying to kill him so Thorfinn flashes back to Askeladd and unconsciously snaps into battle mode to defend himself, proving to Snake that all his talk about not wanting to live anymore wasn’t true which is more of a shock to Thorfinn than anyone else, since he wonders why he would want to live and why he’s alive at all. The farm doctor treats Thorfinn and gives him a new shirt and gives him the day off and they make a point of saying how Thoffin never says thank you and rarely responds to anyone given growing up on a ship full of pirates that he wanted to murder probably didn’t help his etiquette and social skills. Still when Thorfinn just jumps back in to chopping trees, Einar has enough info now to piece his story together and asks Thorfinn if he’s been to war and if he’s killed anyone. Thorfinn basically gives him the less glib version of the ‘how many breads have you eaten?’ speech and given the time period and Thorfinn’s penchant for killing I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s killed more than he’s eaten breads. He acknowledges that he’s exactly like the people that burned down Einar’s village and he has every right to hate him. That night Einar’s thinking about just snapping Thorfinn’s neck to make himself feel better even though he had nothing to do with it, sort of a revenge by proxy. It’s kind of a neat parallel that now Thorfinn is the one waiting to be killed in his sleep like his first night with Askeladd, though by contrast Thorfinn actually is really asleep and having a nighmare about the grandma from the beginning of the series and all the other people he directly or indirectly murdered and how fighting for his life gradually made him think nothing of killing whether they were innocents or combatants. Einar sees how much the dream is tearing Thorfinn up and how much he regrets killing and realizes that he’s not like the people who killed his family, at least not anymore, and wakes him up. He tells Thorfinn that he won’t ever know if something good can come from living if he dies and he’s definitely in a better place now than he was, so there’s no reason to carry on about wanting to die, and no reason for Einar to hate him directly since he wasn’t responsible for what happened to his village. Thorfinn notably thanks Einar for waking him, showing he definitely is a little better off now and is starting to accept human connection again little by little or at least is willing to make an effort to. Also we see Canute doing cool guy shit around so it’ll be fun to catch up with him next time.

Dragon Ball Super 044
Tumblr media
It’s the Potaufeu Trilogy, comin’ atcha!
So the only real value to the first 75% of Dragon Ball Super is the filler episodes they stick between each arc.  The Battle of Gods and Resurrection F episodes were crappy reruns, and the Destroyers Tournament looks like a crappy WWE B-list Pay-Per-View.  And the Zamasu arc.... well, we’ll get to that.
But the filler episodes are generally fun and enjoyable, probably because they don’t waste time dragging out every little moment to pad out the series.  Like Dragon Ball GT, Super could probably be edited down to a much shorter anime if they just cut out all the pointless monologues and staredowns and reaction shots from minor characters.  These were always part of the charm with DBZ, but GT and Super just abuse the hell out of those tricks, with little to show for it.  What puts Super ahead of GT is that it can occasionally produce a good story once in a while.

All right, so let’s dive into this.  Bulma’s doing some sort of experiment when Monaka shows up in his delivery truck to bring her more snacks.  She then borrows him to hold a funnel under a pipe while she generates a small amount of liquid.  There’s filter paper in the funnel, so I guess she needs to filter it.  Monaka just worries about falling behind on his route.
Tumblr media
See, this was what I was saying about Gohan’s career in the last episode.  They’re so vague about what he does and how he does it.  In this scene, Bulma’s working on an experiment which clearly has no basis in reality, but I can still recognize some of the equipment.  Glass funnel, filter paper, and a giant over-sized beaker.   The other stuff doesn’t look like anything in particular, but it still looks kind of authentic, like someone actually used references to draw this room instead of just winging it.  They should show Gohan in a room like this, only with biology stuff.  Like bugs and... more bugs.  That’s where biologists work, right?  They just hop into a big room full of bugs.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Goten and Trunks find Monaka’s unattended truck and start screwing around in the back.  Hey, those toys aren’t for you!
Tumblr media
Monaka’s in such a hurry to get on with his route that he doesn’t even check to see if anyone’s in the back.  He just listens to the radio, and they read his letter on the air.  Under a psuedonym, Monaka confesses that he likes to take the packages marked “fragile” and set them on fire.
Tumblr media
Anyway, he doesn’t find the boys until he makes his next stop on Planet Potaufeu, where he has to warm them up because there’s no heat in the back of the truck.
Tumblr media
Monaka’s here to deliver a martial arts magazine to the planet’s sole inhabitant, Potage.  Potage kind of looks like a cross between a dog and a beetle, but not quite.  Anyway, he’s got bigger problems on his hands right now.
Tumblr media
A bunch of bad guys, led by the evil Gryll, have come to this planet in search of “superhuman water”, but Goten and Trunks clobber them easily.
Tumblr media
Gryll withdraws, but not without picking up the mysterious amulet that Potage dropped earlier.  Among other things, it’s the key to unlock the superhuman water.
Tumblr media
And while Goten and Trunks could easily stop him, he takes Monaka hostage, which allows him to take possession of the superhuman water.  Seems kind of anticlimactic, but...
Tumblr media
Back on Earth, Bulma has finally discovered Trunks and Goten got into Monaka’s truck before he took off.  She calls Jaco to help them search, and when he tries to back out, she considers contacting the Galactic King and telling him about that picture she saw on Jaco’s ship with silly stuff drawn on it.
More importantly, look how huge Vegeta is in this shot.  It’s ridiculous.  He’s supposed to be a little shorter than Bulma, and while I’ve gotten used to artists toeing that line, making him a little taller, this time they go way too far.  The character model isn’t meant to be this tall, which is why his shoulders and arms look so messed up.
Tumblr media
Here, they just screw it up in a whole different way.  Vegeta looks about right this time, except they just raised him up about six inches from Bulma’s level.  It looks like he’s standing on a box.
Tumblr media
Back on Potaufeu, the bad guys are chasing the good guys, but these aliens look a little... different, don’t they?
Tumblr media
Vegeta arrives in the nick of time (and so does Jaco) and he defeats the bad guys easily, but one of them melts into a puddle of purple goo, and it envelops Vegeta like a giant amoeba.
Tumblr media
This is probably someone’s fetish, so drink it in, you sick fucks.
Tumblr media
Vegeta emerges from the fluid seemingly unharmed, except he can’t use his powers. As for the purple goop...
Tumblr media
It’s become an exact copy of Vegeta, with all his powers.  Uh-oh.

Guess where this is from! ( hint it’s from an abridged series)
Ms Leong: LIKE HELL YOU WILL!
Mari: Aw c’mon mom-
Ms Leong: Don’t you cmon mom me! You gone off gods know where in China, refuse to have any of your family contact you, and the first thing you say when you get back, “ Oh hey mom, dad, mind if you give a million year old Monkey King your blessing to marry me, a college student!”
Mari: Wukong. And the first thing I asked about was if you guys wanted dinner.
Ms Leong: THE ANSWER IS NO!
Mari: No to dinner or no to Wukong?
Ms Leong: TO BOTH!
Wukong: 😅 Aw but Ms Leong, be a pal~
(Accidentally smack Ms Leong on the back too hard she then flies into a tree)
Wukong: Oh my god!
Mari: Wukong, run!
Wukong: What!?
Mari: The worst she can do is ground me, now run!
--------
Oof! That's a rough first impression, Wukong. Better be careful about that arm of yours.
I have a confession to make that I actually never got into Dragon Ball let alone the DBZ Abridged Series. I only know the "Goku Button" because there was a reference to it in a Miraculous AU comic series (Scarlet Lady AU). So, again I had to search up where this quote came from.
I can't really blame Mrs. Leong here. I mean, your daughter goes missing for months, takes off to a city where world-ending shit tends to come from, and she comes back to you with bits of white hair after recovering from being possessed by LBD. If my kid did that, I'd be furious.
"The worst she can do is ground me, now run!" I felt that.
I mean if worse comes to worst and Wukong doesn't get the approval of his in-laws, Mari isn't against eloping and neither is Wukong.

Hi! Directed at this ask! https://www.tumblr.com/fictionkinfessions/721083008601473024/this-is-more-of-questions-than-a-confession-so-i?source=share
I am also new to both of these things but we will try to answer as best as we can at 7AM after just waking up.
1. Yeah, it's definitely possible to have more than one kintype from different sources. We have distinct memories as Asriel that we uncovered a while back, but it kinda got steamrolled by our current predicament of oc-kin. And let's just say DBZ and Undertale are very different sources, lol
2. That would vary from system to system, but for me (the host), emotional bleedover is usually a big indicator. And I can usually tell that the emotions aren't *mine* to some degree. I also rely on feedback from other headmates to figure out if someone new is here.
3. Iirc, kin systems are a thing, so there can definitely be some overlap depending on the circumstances. In our system, the headmates/facets split from my own soul share my same kintypes, and those who came from beyond the body don't share them. Once again, that'll vary from case to case, but it's not unheard of.
Idk if that helps much but hopefully there's some answers to be found here!

(For the hot meme thing)
You might not know who this is since I don’t know if your into anime but Zoro from One Piece?
Oh honey. Buddy. You're talking to a natural-born-and-raised Weeb. I haven't seen a ton of anime, all things considered, but there are still very few things in life that I don't compare to anime terms & references, lmao
Anyways, Zoro: Not My Type | Alright | Cute| Adorable | Pretty | Gorgeous | LORD MERCY
So, confession, I never got into One Piece, because something about the art style used to be unappealing to me. It didn't catch my interest as much as other series (Digimon, Yu-Yu Hakusho, Yu-Gi-Oh and DBZ were my favs at the time). When I actually sat down to watch an episode, it was one centered around a really badass fight with Zoro. And made me realize "Oh shit this is actually pretty awesome." Unfortunately by that time the series was like, seven hundred episodes in and it intimidated the fuck out of me so I'll probably never really sit down and get into it, lmao BUT ANYWAYS rambling over, Zoro's pretty hot. 👍 I personally think Sanji's cuter tho.
