I’ve been thinking about this ask from @theravenkin’s blog that talks about how AFTG is a fandom that likes to do random ass and hyperspecific niche au’s so naturally I thought I’d make a fic rec list of 5 of my faves:
Under A Sea of Mist by puddlejumper99/ @writingpuddle
For a thousand years the Lord Ruler has reigned over the Final Empire. Ash falls from the sky and strange mists shroud the night. The skaa labour in the fields and the nobility dance in their Keeps, their glittering lights blinding them to the cruelty in their hearts.
The skaa rebellion is a fantasy and Neil knows it. The Lord Ruler is immortal; there's no overthrowing him. It's as much a surprise to him as anyone else when he gets recruited. But as he gets drawn deeper into the plot, he starts to discover things that will change their understanding of magic forever.
There's always another secret.
Mistborn au. There‘s probably only like 4 people that love both of these fandoms like me, so reading this felt so self-indulgent, like it was ripped straight from high school me’s wildest dreams, and it just makes me clap my hands with joy like a child every time I think about the fact that this fic exists
Whispers in the leaves, shadows in the moonlit night by Silveriss/ @wulfrann
Monsters and ghouls of every age,
Wouldn't you like to see something strange?
Far beyond the graveyard and its renowned Spiral Hill, the Woods prevail. There are no animals to be found there, not one sign of life but for the shifting of the mist and gentle caress of the wind.
Neil has lived in Halloween Town for as long as he can remember, though memory is a fickle thing.
Since his mother, Mary Finkelstein, died two years ago, he hasn't been as good at following her orders as he used to be.
He's made friends. He's not sure how it happened, really - it feels like he just woke up one day with his life suddenly entangled with a whole group of people he hadn't noticed getting slowly closer.
He's also taken the habit of looking at the Woods.
There's something calling to him. He can hear them in the wind, the whispers in a hundred incoherent tongues.
They say crossing the threshold is always the most difficult part.
Nightmare Before Christmas au. Really gorgeous atmospheric writing and adds some v cool worldbuilding elements to the Nightmare Before Christmas universe
The Real Folk Blues by moonix/ @annawrites
Captain David Wymack and the bounty hunter crew of the Bebop spaceship might be a little out of their depths chasing down the infamous hacker and notorious runaway Neil Wesninski, whose bounty exceeds even Kevin's wildest dreams. Worst of all, Andrew might actually enjoy it.
Cowboy Bebop au. The Foxes are space cowboys, I think that’s all I need to say
I'd Never Want to Complicate Your Heart by jingerhead/ @jingerhead
Andrew glanced at the board and found his name at one of the pods of two rather than four (thank god), right next to the windows. Next to his name was ‘Neil Josten’, one Andrew didn’t recognize, but he had to be at least a sophomore to be in this class. Turning to find the right seats, Andrew found himself pausing as he walked, seeing the person he’d be sitting next to for the foreseeable future if Mr. Browning had his way.
And shit, this was either a good thing or a bad thing, because Andrew is very, very gay, and Neil was good looking enough to become a distraction very quickly.
~*~
Or, the Heartstopper AU nobody asked for but that I absolutely needed to write.
Heartstopper au. I called this fic Heartstopper for the asexuals in my bookmark notes and in my comment on it and I will stand by that until I die cuz some of Neil’s experiences with his sexual orientation in this fic echo my own so well I got chills
Andrew Minyard's Diary by fuzzballsheltiepants/ @fuzzballsheltiepants
Andrew is comfortable with his life. He helps edit bad books. He has his collection of people, an apartment, and a novel he will never finish writing. If only his cousin and best friend would stop trying to set him up with one Neil Josten.
Except...perhaps he wouldn't mind being set up with Neil after all.
In which Andrew is Bridget Jones, Kevin is Daniel Cleaver, and Neil is Mark Darcy. Except none of them are like their inspiration characters at all.
Inspired by @scribbleb_red, who said on Twitter "What if there was a Bridget Jones AU?" and when I said, "Yes please!" she handed me the reins. I hope this is even remotely what you were looking for.
Bridget Jones’s Diary au. Absolutely hilarious concept with just perfect character dynamics

Sleepovers.
More of the Bands AU, yay.
Andrew squirmed in his bed, trying to get some sleep.
It was a somewhat quiet night, or as quiet as one could get in the fucking place they were living. He still wanted to kill David everytime the memory of their coach saying that they needed to get into a fucking reality show was brought up again in his brain.
Wich was everyday.
Sleeping on a strange bed wasn't anything that he wasn't used to— however, sleeping in a strange room with both his brother and their cousin horribly drunk because they decided to finally socialize and drink with the other bands, that was something that made him wary. They had the option to get each one a room, but Andrew knew that he wouldn't be able to sleep with that arrangement. After all, keeping them safe was his responsibility, wasn't it? Since they seemed to be too fucking dumb to do it themselves.
He was starting to doze off when his "peace" was interrupted by a little too much sound that started in the hallways. Immediately getting up, he made sure that their door was locked and his knives were in place.
Drunk people getting into your room at night is something he learned to fear from a very young age, after all.
Starting to ask himself what the fuck was going on, he pondered ideas on his head. Someone trying to get to their room in order to have sex, maybe? After all, this was one of the only buildings that didn't have any cameras, because their bedrooms were in it. Probably a figth, uh? Or people trying to start up another party? Perhaps-
Then, there was a knock on the door. A very calm one.
Andrew was rapid to wake up Aaron and Nicky, making signals for them to keep quiet.
There was another knock. And some whispered words.
When the other two looked somewhat alive again, they all looked at each other, confused and worried faces.
A third knock. The sound is getting desperate.
Nicky does a stupid thing, as usual, and somehow manages to open up the door before Andrew is able to kick him in the balls because where the fuck is your sense of self preservation, Nicolás?
But before he's able to beat his cousin up, something more interesting catches his attention. Right in front of him, at fucking three in the morning or so, there are two Raven boys.
It takes him less than five seconds to recognize them: Niel, and Jean. The smaller boy looks at him with glassy eyes, filled with rage and desperation, while the Frenchie rests all his weight into Niel's shoulders, reminding Andrew of some sort of hurt animal. They're clearly not okay, but who is okay in this days?
"Oh, boys! Hi, I'm Andrew." He says, a clearly faked nice voice delivering his words "This is my room, see? So where your going is the nurse's office, that one is at the end of the hallway and then to all the way to the right, okay?"
And he slams to door shut. Or tries to.
Niel's feet is stopping him from doing so, and when he wants to opens the door again just to slam it even harder, the boys are already into the dorm. The fact that Niel managed to shove Andrew aside without dropping jean is something incredibly interesting, because that, yeah, that takes some strength that even a dancer like Niel shouldn't have.
"It's not you we need, Andrew" The boy murmurs, his voice trembling a bit "We're here for Aaron"
Oh, that's... unexpected. How horrible.
Aaron makes a strange sound, freaked out by the situation. Half of his brain is clearly still asleep.
"You are a doctor, right? Deal with Jean and I'll pay you whatever you want- fuck" by the way the Wesninsky boy flinches, probably that french bastard isn't the only one that needs medical attention "Money, beers, a date with someone- just do it"
Something inside of Aaron clearly moves when he realizes what's actually going on. Andrew knows better than everyone that while his twin tries to be this moody and rude person, he's pretty pathetic under all those mean stares.
"...get him on the bed"
And so, the night begins. Again.
*
There's something so curious about seeing Jean Moreau dressed only in his underwear, while laying in Nicky's bed. It's even more curious when you add in the fact that the guy has multiple bruises and hits, some of them older than others, or that Niel Wesninsky is sitting and holding Jean's head on his lap while whispering stuff in french, or that Aaron is definitely going trough a panic attack while cleaning up the probably-soon-to-be-corpse.
"If I knew what caused the injuries, I could-" Aaron says, for the fifth time.
"He got into a figth with one of our bandmates. Drunk shit, you know" Niel answers back, for the fifth time. Then, he looks at Nicky, seems to remember something and ads "He also fell off to the floor when I tried to get him up after we broke up the figth"
The performance is incredible, Andrew has to give him credits on that. Niel is usually a blank-faced sort of guy when he's relaxed or stressed, Andrew doesn't know that yet; he even manages to look like one of those real life sized porcelain dolls sometimes, but right now his whole demeanor is so open and extroverted and expressing that it really looks like he's also a bit drunk. The pauses he makes, how he seems to try and "remember" things again, how he retells them with different words but always sticking to the script- yeah, this boy is a great actor.
Not great enough to fool Andrew, but Nicky and (to some degree) Aaron seem like they're buying straight into his story.
Andrew knows, however, the difference between a figth-like punch and a torture-like one. He knows very well how to tell when there had been two men beating each other's asses and when there had been a man held down while the other smacked him. Maybe Aaron was the one that could tell the depth, the damage, the importance and such, but Andrew could add some details to the whole analysis. But he's too lazy to do so.
"Still" the word comes out muffled, because the doctor is holding a bandage on his teeth "you guys should be going and, I don't know, see a nurse. I only have this many supplied because of Abby giving them to me- I'm not even a full on professional yet. I'm sure that if you explained the situation to them..."
Niel scoffs, then adds a blunt "No"
Nicky, always the out of touch one, asks "Why? I get that this would be, like, bad for your image and shit, but he looks s bit..."
"Like a zombie" Andrew adds, because it's truth.
The tiny raven looks at them, and Andrew can see how the engines of his brain start to run, how his eyes become a mess of emotions for all but a second, and then that disappears
"He can handle it. Jean is a tough guy"
"See, I don't care how much of a tough guy one can be" Aaron sounds mad now. Probably the medical spirit inside of him or something "These injuries are serious, stupid child"
As if he isn't even smaller than Niel, and barely a year or so older.
"What Aaron means is that-" Nicky interrupts again, yawning mid sentence "that we get it, your boyfriend is tough and all that..."
"He's barely my friend"
"However" the man continues, ignoring the comment "he should get a real doctor and such. You know, pain killers, good tools, salubrious stuff and all that"
There's another tired "No" followed by some stutters. Niel looks at Aaron, frowns, and then looks at Jean. "If he really needs stitches, do them as best as you can and that'll be it"
Now, a bit too familiar with this process, aren't we?
"That would be incredibly painful" and there it is, that shut the fuck up, I'm the doctor here sort of voice. Andrew had never seen his brother on action, but it's easy to tell that Aaron is really into this whole helping out people kind of shit.
Niel sighs, and making sure to avoid hurting Jean's head, he manages to get his hand under his own sweater. He then pulls it off, under it a tight fitting shirt with long sleeves. After that, his hand goes down his pants, and Andrew is almost worried for a moment, before realizing that he's getting out a flask.
Wesninski puts his hand on Jean's chin, forcing him to open his mouths and then quickly dropping what sure as hell is some sort of alcohol. Then, he shakes Jean a bit until all the liquid is gone for good.
"He's going to deal with it"
And Andrew isn't sure about what part of that whole moment is more interesting. The naturalness in which all that just went down is one, the fact that Niel is just carrying around alcohol even if he doesn't drink is other, the worrying look that gross wider and wider on his brother's face gets added to the list, but also the fact that it seems even clearer without the god damned sweater that Niel has multiple injuries.
"How would you know that?" Andrew asks, just because. Just to fuck with Niel's head a bit "Something so unpredictable like someone getting stitches on a bed where probably half the boys in a mile have slept in, while an either hungover or drunk medic apprentice patches them up, using tools that could be dirty... that's a lot of things that could grow there. That's a lot to deal with"
Aaron tells them all to shut up, and no one is really trying to cause more of a scandal that the one there already is, so for a moment there is silence, again. It stops when the tiny raven almost jumps over Aaron, hissing when he remembers that an injured men is on his lap.
"Don't put your hand like that, unless you're trying to kill him!"
Aaron looks at him, exhausted and angry. "How would you even know that? Last time I checked, I'm the doctor here"
"I usually am the one to patch him up" Niel answers back, his voice calm, as if he didn't just admit that this has happened enough times for him to be able to catch on the skill.
"Then why the fuck are you in my god-damn room at this hours if you could do it yourself?" Aaron shoots back, even if Wesninski isn't really trying to open fire here.
Andrew scoffs, because, really, Aaron? Are you fucking blind.
"Neil here is sporting some injuries himself, Aaron" he doesn't even glances at the Raven when the usual actually it's Niel comment is said "I'm sure that, by the looks of it, his hand isn't working as it should. Am I wrong?"
After a few seconds of being stared on, Niel looks at them and then at Jean, and then at them again. He bites his lip, before nodding.
"... it's my shoulder, actually"
Then, Aaron decides to shut up, while Niel gives him step-by-step instructions on how to do some parts. Nicky is still looking like he's going to cry at any given moment, Andrew feels like laughing again and again, and Jean is dozed off of this astral plane.

Abandon who you love, love with abandon
Hello, back with a new au and something that is plotted and thus will probably be finished. It’s an andreil hans and gretel au so I love it and hope you do to.
You can also read it on ao3
Andrew could feel a pair of eyes on him. They burned at his back but he refused to turn around. He rolled his shoulders and typed harder at his keyboard. He didn’t know what Renee and Wymack wanted from him but they’d been staring ever since he entered the office and it was getting tiresome. As tiresome as anything could get if it happened from eight am to three in the afternoon.
He wasn’t going to say anything though. He was above it.
The desk at which the blond sat was set up with a wall of monitors and the newest military-grade computer. Nothing but the best for the FBI. Even for their underfunded star squad. That’s what Wymack got for picking from the people who barely scraped through the psych test. Or failed it as Andrew had.
Yet here he sat.
His attention got caught by an irregularity in the code in front of him. Something was up in the Nathan Wesninski case. Andrew’s team had been put on the case after everyone else failed to pin anything on Wesninski but the FBI knew something was up. They’d known for almost as long as Andrew had been alive. Two years ago however Nathan Wesninski and three of his closest friends disappeared off the face of the earth. Or so they thought because Andrew had just found one of them.
He and Renee, the other tech nerd, had been working on this code for ages to flag bank accounts and passports that looked just a little too much like Wesninski’s inner circle.
“Andrew,” Renee said. She pushed off on the floor and rolled towards him. “Wymack asked me to talk to you.”
“And he thinks that’s going to work?” Andrew’s fingers flew across the keys. Passport, name of M. R. Mero. Malcolm Romero. Two clicks later Andrew had his picture up on the screen. Different eye colors but the same man. Mole above his right eye and shaving scar on his cheek. He couldn’t be the smartest or Wesninski wouldn’t have been able to avoid the FBI for so long.
“You’re listening to me now aren’t you.”
“I don’t know, were you talking about the scheduled zombie apocalypse for October.”
“Andrew…” Renee tried placing a hand on his but he pulled away.
“Renee, I told you not to do that.”
She sighed and twirled in her chair. It was a nasty habit she’d picked up from her girlfriend. “Wymack says you need to start pulling your weight on the Wesninski case. He wants to know what you want in return.”
“He’s already paying me isn’t he?” Andrew Switched screens and logged into a different database to start checking bank accounts. He plugged in the information and waited.
“Then why aren’t you doing the work?” David Wymack walked into the dark room. “Would it kill the two of you to open a window from time to time?”
“There aren’t any windows in here,” Renee said. Andrew heard a hair tie snap against her wrist meaning she put up her hair. “There have never been rooms.”
Wymack grumbled. “I’m assuming that Andrew hasn't put in any effort into the Wesninski case yet.”
“Not on my account,” Renee said.
Andrew rolled his eyes and the screen finally loaded up. New bank account for an Australian bank accounts for Mr. M. R. Mero. Gotcha.
He let Renee and Wymack talk amongst themselves as he checked the information a final time and flagged the accounts. He’d let them know if anything came of it.
Steps echoed around the room as Wymack walked to Andrew and dropped a thin Manila file in front of him. “I think I found your challenge.”
Andrew looked from the file to Wymack before pushing it off to the side. “I didn’t ask for a challenge.”
“You also didn’t ask for a job, you midget but here you are. Open the file.”
Andrew rubbed his face with both hands. He’d been at work for twelve hours. Seven am to pm was too long when his best friend insisted on drinking during the evenings.
He pushed the file to the side again and waited for Wymack to leave the room, he took Renee with him. Andrew heard their voices disappear down the hall before snatching at the file. Unwind the thread, open the folder, flick, flick, flick with his thumb. Three pages. Three pages of information. His eyes caught on a rectangular note paper clipped to the bottom of the first page. Andrew nudged it loose and turned it around.
It was a picture. A family one. After three years of working in the Fox squad, Andrew knew Nathan Wesninski’s face better than his own, even the young version, but it wasn’t even showing. Next to him was a woman, short, with light brown hair. On Nathan’s shoulders was a small boy. His face wasn’t showing but Andrew knew that must be Nathaniel. According to the note on the back about eight years old.
The picture seemed to be taken during a good moment, with the wife and Nathan smiling but Andrew wouldn’t have become FBI if he didn’t notice the little details. The bruises peeking beneath sleeves and the tension around the woman’s eyes.
Andrew put the picture to the side and read the rest of the file.
Tumblr media
Andrew hadn’t felt many strong feelings since he was little but hatred for Nathan Wesninski was steadily burning a hole through his chest. The brutal ways Nathaniel and his mother had been abused were detailed on the three pages in the file. Andrew felt sick.
His fingers didn’t shake as he put the file back together and shoved it to the side of his desk. He didn’t pace his office as he waited for the computer to light up with another hit on Romero. He didn’t do anything. He stared at the screen without seeing and watched the code shift as the program rolled on another screen.
“Nathaniel Wesninski.” The name rolled off his tongue. It felt a bit sour. Like milk gone bad. “For all, I know you’re dead on some beach as well.”
“That’s what I need you to find out,” Wymack said gruffly.
Andrew swiveled in his chair and found his boss standing at the door opening. Wymack walked over and sat on a chair at the small table Renee and Andrew used to collect printouts. “Why me? Renee can do this? Another department could just as well track a dead man.”
Because it’s a dead end. Andrew crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair. “I don’t want to do it.”
“You will,” Wymack said. “Because you read that file and you want that eight-year-old boy to have justice just as much as I do.”
“You want me to find a murder victim? I’m an IT guy.”
Wymack shook his head. “I want you to find a twenty-five-year-old with a penchant for stealing his father’s money. I’ve seen the stuff Renee and you code. You’re the only one that can do this.”
Andrew could but that didn’t mean he wanted to. Nathaniel would have had years to figure out how to work around tracking. Every idiot with access to google could find out how to avoid getting tracked online. But fuck it he was interested. Nathaniel’s case hit a personal spot and it might help him to track down Nathan as well.
“Fine,” Andrew said and turned back to his monitors. “But you’re bargaining with Chuck to get Renee and me an office with windows next time you see him.”
--00--
Rule number one of stealing is to not look conspicuous. Neil’s mother had taught him that when he was ten and left the supermarket by himself for the first time without paying for the groceries hidden in his school bag. He hadn’t gotten caught. Now fourteen years later Neil had just walked out of an old-fashioned second-hand computer store with a gaming laptop that had been there for cleaning. Neil Josten didn’t feel remorse about stealing it. After all, he was doing it for the greater good.
His own bank account.
Neil ran a hand through his brown curls and walked into a cafe two blocks down. Not close enough to easily be found but also close enough that when he left the laptop in the cafe it may someday return to the rightful owner. Or it would just get stolen by somebody else. That wasn’t Neil’s problem.
The cafe he’d picked out earlier was slightly crowded. Just enough for him to blend in but also to have a table to himself.
In all truth 'Don't be conspicuous' hadn't been his mother's first rule. There were many rules she'd imprinted upon his brain before she died on some sandy beach in America. Neil had never cared for the country he'd been born in and even less so now after his mother's death.
America was the country his father lived in. It was the country a previous version of Neil had been born in and spent all ten years of his short, miserable life. Then Neil left and saw the world. It wasn't any less miserable but it meant his life span was at least a little longer.
Neil walked up to the counter and ordered himself a sandwich and a black coffee. Don't be conspicuous. He waited in line, he told the girl to add a dollar or two to his tip and he spoke in the Australian accent he'd perfected over the past four months.
Four months of living all over Australia. Four weeks of driving along the East Coast. Four days of renting a room in Sidney with the money he'd pilfered from his father's contacts. It wasn't a grand life. It certainly wasn't the life of a pro athlete that he'd dreamt of as a kid but at twenty-five, he was damned proud he was still breathing every single day.
Neil collected his food and drink and walked towards an empty table in a back corner. He sat with his back to the wall and checked if nobody would be able to see his screen.
Drink, food, walls, privacy.
It only took Neil three minutes to crack the code on the laptop. A simple override code he'd learned in some IT class he'd followed at a German college. But now the real work. He took the driver out of his bag and connected the cables. A simple code scrolled across the screen and began downloading several programs onto the borrowed laptop.
The computer took long enough that Neil got to finish his sandwich. The programs opened in front of him and he got to work. Over the years he’d gotten accustomed to finding the hidden bank accounts of his father’s partners and his father. Nathan had been smart but there was always a telltale mark that something was his. Like a brand mark.
Neil idly rubbed his shoulder.
It took him about an hour to find the correct account and another two to hack in and transfer the money towards three separate accounts. Neil’s emergency account on the Cayman islands, one in the Netherlands, and finally a couple hundred towards a new bank account at the Bank of Australia. Courtesy of Neil Josten and his falsified passports and driver’s licenses. He’d pull the money out of there tomorrow at the bank. There was no way a machine was going to have all that money for him to cash out.
And cash was needed. He was already leaving too much of a trail by using a smartphone and stolen laptops. Someone only had to get to his level and they’d be able to track the breadcrumbs from account to account until they found him.
But twenty-five wasn’t enough. Neil wanted to get old. He only hoped his father would die before then.
He ordered a final coffee to go before starting to meticulously delete every file he just downloaded onto the laptop and made sure to clean the trash can. He logged out of the account and logged in with obviously wrong passwords a couple of times before closing the thing.
Neil opened his bag and pretended to put in the laptop. He placed it on the chair beside him and finished cleaning up his stuff. He got up and grabbed the coffee cup. Still warm. He raised a hand at the barista who’d helped him and walked out of the store.
He rubbed his eyes. The brown contacts were bothering him. He walked towards the harbor and sat down on one of the benches facing the Opera house.
Neil fumbled as he pulled out a pack of cigarettes. He was running out but he didn’t want to break into his emergency cash in case he needed to take a plane somewhere else. It took a couple of inhales before the cigarette lit. He took one more breath to keep it burning before watching as he let it burn down to the filter. He didn’t want the nicotine; he wanted the acrid smoke that reminded him of his mother.
He ground it against the bench to stop the flame and pulled his phone from his pocket. It still felt dangerous and with nobody to call it felt useless but the internet was the easiest way to gather information about his father. Within five minutes he was looking at the New York Times.
Tumblr media
A new team was put on his father's case. New people digging into his past and coming across the origins of Neil Josten. Neil shivered and got some weird looks from people passing by. He was bundled up enough for late winter in Australia but knowing someone else could come knocking on his door was a familiar nightmare clawing on the solid walls of his mind.
He stood up and grabbed his bag. He’d go to the bank first thing tomorrow. Right now he needed to pack his stuff. He needed to get a new passport. He wouldn’t sit here like a duck to be shot but he wouldn’t run for a while longer. Neil Josten was as cold a trail as any.
The door to his apartment was swinging open before he’d finished his plans. He’d move in two weeks. That was enough time to get his papers ready and get the money to buy his ticket in cash. He’d be untraceable on some other continent. He’d be running but at least he’d be free.

AFTG Boy Band AU part 2; Neil
Nathaniel Abram Wesninski is the son of the Butcher of Baltimore. His mother was the princess of a crime syndicate across the sea. Together his family controlled an indisputable portion of the southeast
One day, after a fun little studio session with some other boys his age, Nathaniel’s mother took him and ran. Nathaniel never understood why his mother took him away from the only thing that he loved
After his mother’s death Nathaniel wandered aimlessly for days, weeks, months even. Until he found himself at a garage sale on a Saturday somewhere in the middle of Virginia
Sitting right in front of him was a bright orange Squier Bullet Mustang, hardly used, and being sold at an ungodly price. Thankfully, Nathaniel had an ungodly bank account.
Two weeks later found Neil on street corners, playing his guitar until his fingers bled, just to have something to do. He didn’t need the tips but it felt good to earn money doing something honest. The metal cutting into his fingertips dragged his mind away from his mother’s burning corpse
He kept moving, making sure not to play one city too long, not to develop any sort of reputation among the locals. He thought he had done a good job until his worst fear came true and he was approached by a man who said he recognized him.
Wymack, of Fox Records, offered Neil a contract and a chance to play on a real stage. Everything Neil wanted but new he couldn’t have. After two weeks of convincing Neil agreed to test out the studio, but told himself he was making no promises.
The first moment he walked into the studio Neil was hit with a broken microphone stand and barely missed being pelted with a cymbal. As he looked up he didn’t know whether to grin or reach for a gun: standing in front of him, between debris from various instruments, was Kevin Day, former guitarist for The Ravens and Neil’s obsession
To be continued…
Part 1 Part 3

@undershipped asked some question about the aftg vampire/werewolves idea I came up with, so here are my answers:
1) Kevin wouldnt be a werewolf, he's the only one of the Ravens who arent, mostly because Wymack is a vampire (hence why the rest of the Foxes are also vampires) and ig Kayleigh was too. However, because of his history with Exy the Ravens made an exception, at first he had a hard time with being the only vampire on the team, being called names such as "bloodsucker" but after Riko unoffically made Kevin court he started to gain more respect from both the media and the Ravens
2) In my brain Nathan is werewolf, his job is to eliminate vampires,so yes he is kinda like a hunter and the Moriyama's pay him for protection and information on the fae covens because Mary is a dark fae, like the Maleficent.
3) For Neil, he had a choice to either become a werewolf or a dark fae he had weak power from his parents but he couldnt offically identify as either fae or werewolf, I do like the idea that the payment for Neil was a bite to intiate him into the Raven but him and Mary ran before the transaction was complete, Mary still dies though.
4) Wymack let Neil join the Foxes even though he wasnt a vampire, however in exchange for keep Neil safe, he let Andrew bite him. Obviously Neil didnt know at the time that bites are how mates/soulmates are marked but eventually found out when him an Andrew were talking leading up to the "doesnt mean I wouldnt blow you"/"you like me", "i hate you" thing
If anyone has any more questions then feel free to put it in my asks! This was fun to write and I definitely wouldnt mind doing it again!
@undershipped hope I answered all you questions and cleared up any confusion :)

wymack! and! his! kids!! incredible!!!!!, please make a pt 2
Thank you!! Ask and you shall receive:
Pt. 1
Wymack and his kids pt. 2
Wymack looked down at the kid on his doorstep and asked “Nathaniel are you hurt?”
Neil flinched hearing the name “please don’t call me that”
Wymack sighed and said “alright - kid - are you hurt?”
Neil shook his head and fiddled with the duffel bag on his shoulder, his eyes looking down.
Wymack sighed again and said “okay, well I’ll go get you some towells. You go around to the back and we will get the hose to get most of that dirt off you before you try to track blood through my house”
Neil looked at the blood on his hands and the grime covering his body and said “I’m sorry” before making a slow walk to the back gate
Wymack looked up at the sky and grabbed the bridge of his nose before turning to face his inquisitive family.
As happy as he was to see that Nathaniel was still alive he could deal without this bullshit today with a crowded house
What was he going to tell the kids?
He gave himself another minute before shutting the door and returned to the table. He took a long look at his kids before saying a sentence that would change their lives forever
“He came home” it was said with a small smile while Wymack made eye contact with everyone in the room
The kids mouths were agape as they tried to figure out who “he” was. When they put it together they began to clamour:
“Nathaniel! He’s back” “where has he been?” “Is he okay?” “Is he going to stay with us” the chatter of the voices rose in volume until Wymack hushed them
Wymack says “he’s in the back right now and I’m going to try to get most of the blood off of him before he comes in for a proper shower. Aaron I need you to grab some of your and Andrews old clothes for him to wear. Abby I need you to get the first aid kit because he looks pretty beat up. Matt go and run and get me some towells. I don’t want to alarm you all but you’re old enough to be told: he looks different and I’m not quite sure how much different he’ll be. I don’t know where he’s been or why he was gone, but he doesn’t want to be called Nathaniel anymore. I’ll go out there and help him but I want you all to stay inside for now. Also, for the love of god eat some of Abby’s food she spent so long preparing it.”
“I think it’s best we give him space so I’ll let you all talk to him after he’s had a shower and some food because the kid looks like he’s been through hell and back.”
The kids made a fuss when Wymack mentioned they couldn’t go out but they all moved to help. All but one. A blonde hair boy wearing all black just sat there staring at his plate.
Wymack got the towells from Matt and walked out towards the back porch he turned to Abby before asking her to try and get the kids to eat. “They might be in for a long night”
Wymack went out to the back yard alone. As much as Wymack doubted Nathaniel would hurt any of them he didn’t want to put any of his kids at risk. Plus, Nathaniel looked like he was one startled sneeze away from running.
He walked out into the yard and over to the water hose and Nathaniel who was sitting on the ground with his knees to his chest. Nathaniels eyes were glazed over as he looked off into the distance.
Wymack set the towells down and turned on the hose
“Take off your shoes kid” he instructed
Neil followed his command and sat dejectedly, refusing to look at the house to the side of him
“After your shower you and I are going to have a conversation alright. Hell kid you’ve been missing for years”
“I know. I’m sorry”
“Why come back now?”
Wymack saw Nathaniels eyes fill with tears he wouldn’t let spill
“He uhh... my father he, he killed her. I didn’t know where else to go”
“Should I call the police?”
“No please just give me a day and I’ll be gone”
“Na- kid we don’t want you to leave”
“But I have to”
“How about you give me a day to convince you to stay, huh”
Neil didn’t have a response to that. He was already breaking his mother’s rules just by being here. Not that it mattered much, breaking the rules. She was gone and so he went to the only place he could think of, home.
He hasn’t processed her death yet, not really anyway. He burned the body and left it on the beach. There’s a gap in his memory, but the next thing he knew he was in a stolen car on the way to Andrew’s house (or at least he hoped it was Andrews house). So many years had passed since he walked up those front steps. Neil was terrified to knock on the door. What if they had left? What if they hated him for how he had to leave? It took him a few minutes to gather up the courage to knock on the door. When Wymack opened it, Neil didn’t know what to think.
Wymack and him scrubbed at the blood and soot all over his arms and legs, leaving the clothes on till he could get in a shower. The shoes were left on the ground, ruined. As they cleaned off the grime Wymack started to see scars on his arms and legs, as well as some new cuts that Abby would need to take care of. He couldn’t help but feel a stab of guilt that those scars were his fault. He felt responsible for Nathaniel, even if he wouldn’t want to stay.
They say in silence before Wymack asked “If you don’t want to be called Na- your name anymore then what should we call you?”
“Neil. Neil Josten.”

Anon asked:
The different amounts or knowledge everyone has when Kevin tells Wymack who he is to Wymack must be something: Neil knows he and Kevin are cousins (assuming at some point his parents told him about his father’s twin or he realized on his own who Wymack was), Kevin probably thinks Neil is just oddly scared of Wymack and has no idea they’re in any way related, Wymack thinks Kevin and Neil are telling him they’re both his kids and are thus brothers and probably utterly terrified for what this means considering his only real guidelines for sibling relationships are him and Nathan and the Minyards, and the Foxes probably still know nothing.
Also, Baltimore must be fucking wild, one teammate was tortured and nearly murdered by his father, the aforementioned serial killer father is their coach’s twin brother, Kevin’s uncle is Neil’s murderous father, Neil’s other uncle and maternal relatives murdered his father, and more. Baltimore is just a host of family drama that the FBI probably didn’t expect and the agents are likely praying for someone else to come take over this shift so they can leave (or are watching avidly and think this is more entertaining than tv)
No see that's the thing. Neil doesn't know shit. He thinks Coach's resemblance to his father is unnerving but coincidental, and over time this is what helps him slowly get over his fear of his father. He looks into that face and sees not a man to fear but a man to cajole and tease and respect.
And then he's back in the basement. Back on his knees, looking up through pain and blood loss and pure exhaustion at that familiar face and those familiar arms.
And the only words managing to stumble out the gate are "Christ, Coach, get off my dick."
As for the reveal... turns out pulling a surprise secret twin brother here to swoop in and take all the suspect's shit is a hell of a move to pull on the FBI. Wymack still has that paternity test result and he's milking it for all its worth to get Neil back. And okay, maybe he should've explained to the foxes what the fuck was actually going on, but he just found out his brother was alive in Baltimore, and is now dead in Baltimore, so he's got a lot on his plate, and this is really a conversation he should have with his nephew(!?!?) first. Letting the kids think Neil is his son for like a day won't kill them.
But at least he didn't really secretly have a biological son on the team that was trying to hide the truth from him, right? Hey Kevin are you okay you don't look so good.

Comeback, part 3
Next lot of chapters is here! Go on and keep reading on AO3.
***
“Don’t talk to me about fucKing stickball while Neil is dying.”
Anger was a dangerous thing, impossible to contain anymore. It’d been too much in the last days. Even for someone as apathetic as Andrew.
He punched the wall with his free hand too close to Kevin’s face. The taller man flinched under Andrew’s fist.
***
He wants nothing. He wants nothing.
Hewantsnothinghewantsnothinghewantsnothing.
He wants nothing.
He wants Neil.
***
“Where did you go?”
“Thought it was out of your pay rate.”
“It did until I failed to three of my Foxes. I’m not failing to a fourth. Even if he is the most annoying of all.”
***
Andrew swings the wood to Tetsuji’s ribs. The sound of bones breaking and his grunts wash some of the hatred. “This is for Neil.”
The man holds to Andrew’s ankle. He lifts his foot and steps on the Raven’s hand. It crunches under his combat boots. “This is for Kevin.”
***
Back at the hospital, in a darkened room, Wymack is awaken by the screech of a heart monitor when it goes flat.
***
All kudos, likes, comments, shares and follows make my day :D

Imagine if the same day Wymack goes to recruit Neil, Lola ends up finding him. While Wymack, Andrew, and Kevin wait for Hernandez to bring Neil in the locker room, they start hearing shooting and screaming. Then suddenly the door crashed opens, only for them to see Neil running in half bloody.

Andreil Anastasia Au
So I was gripped by something and I wrote this on my phone. Don't look too closely at literally any detail I just was smacked in the brain by an andreil Anastasia au and it was supposed to be short but now it's a lovely, unintelligible 2.1k
So.
I mean, Neil is obviously Anastasia, and the Monsters are going to take him on a grand road trip back to his father
And Neil lost his memory when his mother died while on the run. He doesn't remember how, just that there were flames and that he needed to run change lie
He knows there are gaps in his memory and despite his instincts to flee he's filled with a desperation to be someone and he has a postcard in his duffel bag that's worn and wrinkled so much that he can't make out the words on the back but the front is a picture of an old brick house and Edgar Allen Poe and he doesn't know when he got it or why he's kept it but if Neil from Before kept it he should too
Now the monsters. They need a bargaining chip. They have Kevin. The Moriyamas want Kevin back very desperately. Have been hounding and threatening them for months.
See, they had a great investment that went missing several years ago and they can't afford to lose Kevin as well. No, that just won't do.
So Andrew strikes up a deal. If he can find their lost investment and bring him back, they can keep Kevin. One investment is better than none and reuniting a poor kidnapped boy with his poor heartbroken father would do well for their reputation after the skiing accident.
Now, this is all on Andrew. Because Andrew has a promise to keep and he's going to fucking do it. He's heard enough stories and rumors and Kevin's drunken ramblings to know about Nathaniel. The Moriyamas pass a message that he was last seen north of Seattle so that is where they monsters conveniently vacation right after the semester ends. Aaron thinks it's a dumb vacation destination. Nicky loves the lgbt scene. Kevin follows Andrew.
At night, Andrew holds auditions for someone who can pass well enough as Nathaniel Wesninski to convince a few people who had met him when he was ten. According to Kevin, his father probably didn't actually want anything to do with him unless it was to kill him so chances were they'd never meet. If he can find and train someone good enough in the same city as Nathaniel's most recently known whereabouts, it should be good enough.
And the tip wasn't completely off. Nathaniel was on his way to Seattle because he thought it was time to come back through the continental u.s. Neil is looking for a place to crash and breaks into a boarded up motel whose aura makes him want to vomit and he's counting on that to keep others away.
When Andrew sees this short, flighty looking bastard with a shitty dye job skulking around his audition space he can't deny the shockingly blue eyes are exactly what all the others have been missing. Neil flinches at the name Wesninski and blames his feeling of dread on the blood stain next to the empty metal bed frame. (He doesn't need to know that his body is reacting to both things. His brain might not remember the sight of his mother being struck but his heart does).
He's desperate for a purpose and desperate to run change lie and it might not be an accident that he allows Andrew to stop him. It is an accident that he lets his guard down enough for Andrew to get a hold of the post card and make a comment about the Edgar Allen House in Baltimore. He'd never known what the weird house was. And really, that's the only reason he agrees to go on this crazy adventure. Possibly being reunited with a man who lost his son? Someone who shares his eyes and who comes from the same place as his only personal item? Learning who he is? Going to college? Playing a sport? What's the worst that could happen?
He agrees to go back with them. Andrew tells the others the plan- teach this kid enough about Exy to be useful by the time they get to the east coast so he can attend Edgar Allen University in Kevin's place. Neil is excited about a college education and answers and family and a purpose. Kevin feels sick with relief and guilt and clings to Neil's desire to go through with it.
And so they road trip. In a pinch, coast to coast is 40 hours of straight driving. They meander their way back and stop by any public court they can. Kevin teaches him how to perfect Exy (god, Neil feels so alive and right this is exactly what he's been missing why did his body know and crave this sport so deeply that his bones ached for it)
Andrew and Neil are both overly cautious, still. They trade as many truths as you can with someone who lost their memory. Neil can't trade his past but he can trade himself and he becomes so desperate to stay in the game that he begins giving away everything he's kept close (why had he? Why run why change why lie? Being known was everything, as long as Andrew was the one knowing).
He thinks he's been to Europe because he can never find chocolate that tastes exactly right and he knows some German and Russian. He has spent time in England probably because sometimes he uses words that make Americans tilt their heads. He knows French but usually speaks Quebecois French and he starts to do it around Kevin because it makes Kevin a little bit nuts and Neil is an instigator at heart.
These start out as secret truths. By the time they get to Wisconsin, he is much more open with these little bits of himself, as if others knowing them meant they are real, he's real (Andrew always knows first, though)
One day at a court near a public park in Madison, he mentions that he thinks he really likes math and Kevin snorts. "Russian, England, math. You sound more like Abram Besikovitch than Nathaniel Wesninski. Now set me up for that play again, it was terrible."
But Neil doesn't set him up again. He stops and stares at Kevin's mouth and then walks away in without a word all the way back to their shitty motel. Andrew follows him and puts the chain on the door to keep the others out. It's Neil's turn for a truth so he just raises his eyebrow and Neil doesn't need a clarification after weeks of zigzagging across america. He tells Andrew that Kevin made a joke and Neil didn't like it for some reason. Andrew says that Kevin will not say it again. When they smoke that night, Neil is solemn and feels like the void he'd been filling all summer has cracked open even wider in his chest.
In Chicago, some fans spot Kevin and ask for some selfies. Neil stands off in the background with Andrew and Aaron and Nicky and pokes fun at PR Kevin in rusty German.
Andrew gets a text from an unknown number later that says he has done a good job.
In Cincinnati, Andrew kisses Neil after a day of no Exy. In Pittsburgh, Neil kisses Andrew after a game with some local college kids. In Morgantown, West Virginia they stay in a decent hotel and kiss on the roof until the sun comes up. In Weston, Kevin has a panic attack and refuses to look Neil in the face and they order pizza and Neil falls asleep on Andrew's shoulder. In Ripley, Andrew does not believe in regret but he does believe in mistakes. On Route 77, he rummages through Neil's duffel while they all take turns peeing in the woods and its mildly helpful.
At a campground in Kenna, Neil goes missing.
While Nicky drives, Andrew chokes Kevin in the back seat and demands to know what he realized last week.
Neil doesn't know the woman who took him but his lungs do.
In the car, he remembers. The smell of burning flesh is pungent and unforgettable and singes his brain now like it did under the iron years ago. He screams and struggles and pleads. He thinks about Andrew and Kevin and the way the Maserati smelled after they drove too long with a broken air conditioner and the weight of an Exy racket and the absolute peace of kissing Andrew for hours and hours and of being known.
In Baltimore, he doesn't know how he could ever forget. He stares at his father and remembers. He remembers getting a postcard when they were at Uncle Stuart's house. He remembers the pipe to his mother's stomach. He remembers the car accident when he realized what had happened to her and the fire and stumbling through the California woods away from the emts and rescue and passing out near a stream. He remembers waking up and passing out all the way to the Canadian border where he used French that he didn't know he spoke and a passport he didn't know he had to cross into Vancouver.
He asks his father why, but really it's for Andrew.
Did Andrew know? Did Kevin recognize him? Had this always been the plan? Was any of it real? Was he real?
Desperation to fulfill a purpose. That was a joke. Desperation to survive was the only thing that mattered. Run change lie. Nathaniel fought his way away from his father, pulled himself across the concrete floor with his torn up arms, closed his body around the foot that kicked him in the ribs to trip, stall, anything.
A crash. Pop Pop. Thud.
Uncle Stuart wasn't surprised to see Nathaniel. Neither were the emts or feds. Nathaniel didn't have the energy to care anymore. He let them take him. His father was dead and he had no obligation to the Moriyamas and they had no real claim to him. What was it to him if the FBI had some questions.
It was all in exchange for some legal paperwork. Neil was back and he had some college credits in his back pocket and a decent high school GPA and absolutely no prospects outside of possible witness protection.
2 nights before his release from the hospital, Uncle Stuart comes back with a folder of paperwork for a university in South Carolina. He pats Neil awkwardly on the shoulder and says that the FBI aren't the only ones who can pull strings. Neil asks why this school. Uncle Stuart says that's where his friends go. Neil says that people who trade in people are not friends. Uncle Stuart asks if Neil really wouldn't sacrifice a stranger to save someone close to him. Neil says he has no one close to him and hates that it feels like a lie. Uncle Stuart asks if he still loves Exy.
In 2 days, he leaves the hospital and an agent drives him south.
A paper in the folder has an address and apartment number on it. When Neil presses the buzzer, he is let in with a disgruntled sound over the intercom. When he knocks on apartment 724 he comes face to face with a tall man who asks why he's so late to summer training and then how he expects to play in that condition. Neil asks what the fuck is going on. So does Kevin. Neil asks what the fuck again.
See, Stuart was always going to come after Nathan but a call from a boy who should not know his number had pushed up the date.
See, Andrew had looked for literally any clue that could be useful in Neil's duffel bag and found a phone number coded into a paper of numbers. Abram had been the key.
See, after Andrew had choked Kevin he learned that he had been surprisingly successful in acquiring an Exy investment for EAU. He learned that death would not pass over this unknown mistake, it would come looking for the runaway. He called the number, he asked about Baltimore, he told Stuart who he would probably find in that basement.
Neil hummed and waited on the couch. Andrew entered the apartment with a crash and did a poor job of looking unaffected. He clutched at Neil's bandaged cheeks and cursed him out for nothing, just to curse him. Fuck you you fuck you stupid fucking idiot you fucking dumb exy fucking fuck.
Neil asks about the promise. Andrew says that he always keeps his promises. Neil asks about the deal. Andrew says that the promise will just have to be long term babysitting if it can't be solved permanently. Neil asks about the kisses. Andrew says he doesn't believe in regret. Neil asks yes or no. Andrew doesn't answer with words.

AU!Football (Aareil!Andreil), Part 1.
I feel quite angry because yesterday I spent hours writing pieces of this, so that suddenly the light goes out in my urbanization and EVERYTHING I wrote is erased. fuckin 'shit. Now, again, I come back to this because it really is an idea that has not left me alone all day yesterday (and today). In itself, it is an AU in which instead of the Foxes being an Exy team, they are now Football, except Neil, who will now be a Vixen.
This will be like a light introduction to the characters.
Here the sport of Football is mixed, so the alignment will be the same as in the canon, except that Neil will be a cheerleader and Seth will be alive and occupy his 'position'.
Kevin will continue to be an obsessive sportsman who plays with an injury to his left hand (because of Riko), but will recover. Seth is less asshole here, because I admit that a certain part of me liked the character and I want to give it a try, but it will still have its sassy bitch side (not really homophobic).
(Seth and Allison are not in relationship romantic here, but they are best friends; Renee and Allison are girlfriends).
(The Moriyama here are not any kind of mafia or anything like that, only a high-ranking business family; and Riko is just a jerk. Do not worry).
Allison and Dan are still wild and loyal to theirs, and with Renee shutting the fucking mouths of all those who still think that a girl can not play a contact sport as well as a guy.
Matt and Nicky are smiling and adorable as always, but protective of their family. Andrew is a little less aggressive than usual with the Foxes (God bless you, Betsy Dobson), but an imbecile with sociopathic instincts as always; is a little closer to them and can engage in small conversations when the Foxes aren't being intrusive (Renee helped a lot to get to this type of 'truce'), and on RARE occasions defended the fools when someone tried to pass with them.
Aaron does change here a little more than the others did, it's something more closed than before in terms of his thoughts and feelings, but he considers the Foxes the true family he never had, although it took a lot to reach this understanding (Nicky , Renee and Betsy fought a lot for this); he is among the first to jump to defend them, although he is usually a asshole with them.
Another radical change is found in the fact that Aaron never sent a letter to Andrew, so they never met or knew of each other's existence until a slightly funny situation occurred at the University; It was something like Nicky strongly confusing Andrew with Aaron, which brought many questions that had no answers until they reunited the twins in the same room (along with a broad search in the family registry and a blood test).
Andrew had just transferred to PSU to continue his career in Criminal Justice, due to certain complications (he savagely beat a professor who tried to hurt Bee) at his previous University; To say that he was stupefied by such a finding would be bullshit, he really expected a strange shit like that of his sanguine 'family', not that he cared more, actually. What he was curious about, with a simple transfer of universities, he had just discovered that he had a twin and a cousin.
At first he stayed away from them as much as he could, he did not care a bit, he just focused on his classes and visiting Bee in his new office (she got a new job at PSU as a psychologist for his athletes).
Until she confused Andrew with Aaron when coach Wymack led his team to meet before her and decide what day it was for each of them to have a session with her. From there she advised Andrew a lot about how well it could make him try to know and approach this part of his family that he did not know, and that they seemed to be alone (besides the Foxes).
It was a complicated and lengthy process that Andrew and Aaron could engage in a long conversation, without monosyllables or sharp and sarcastic answers. From there they were able to reconstruct a bit of family history: Tilda gave both twins up for adoption, only to finally repent a bit and take one of them (Aaron) before finalizing the paperwork, Andrew went to the Foster System (and then to Juvie for his problematic attitude) and Aaron stayed to live with an abusive mother for years (not that Andrew was better in the foster homes), until he met Nicky and after his mother died of an overdose (and a strong argument between Nicky and Luther Hemmick in which the minor finally cut off all relationship with them), Nicky took Aaron's custody (with the help of another distant relative who did not agree with the method of raising of the Hemmick).
Andrew suffered physical and psychological abuse in the homes to which he was given, but was only sexually abused once by Drake Spear when he was thirteen, one year after he was adopted by that family; but on that occasion Drake was caught in the act by the very Cass Spear, who called the police directly.
Destroyed for having failed a child as wonderful and amazing as Andrew was, she moved some contacts to move Andrew to an adoption and help institute where a distant friend of Richard Spear, Betsy Dobson, worked as a psychologist. (And after two years of understanding, fighting and love, Andrew let Betsy finally adopt him).
So, now both twins and cousin are in the process of approaching with help from Betsy (poor of her, with Andrew antagonizing everyone, Aaron being scathing and Nicky very gaudy).
A few months later, and all three of them maintaining a more civilized relationship, Andrew was slightly coerced by Bee (again) to join the football team (which was a fucking trick because Betsy knows there are VERY few things that Andrew can deny her).
(At times, Aaron admits to himself that he feels somewhat jealous of Bee's close and loving way of being with Andrew; he would have loved to have someone like her nearby).
Andrew's expressionless face and slightly psychopathic behavior constantly intimidates the Foxes a bit (except Renee and Wymack, and sometimes Allison), but over time they get used to it.
Aaron does not even like football, but he was violently harassed by sportobsession!Kevin Day to be part of the team after having seen him wildly tackling a son of a bitch who tried to touch Neil Josten (And Nicky happily joined the team to not be alone).
Aaron have a thing with Neil Josten, everyone knows it (except Andrew, because he don't know about Josten).
The day that Andrew Minyard met Neil Josten was fucking memorable for Allison: it was on a type of team-building weekend organized by Dan and Wymack, that they somehow managed to reunite everyone including the twins and Seth (Bee and Abby were really happy).
Then as the day progressed and the afternoon fell, they decided to make a movie marathon in Abby's living room, but before they needed to recharge supplies, so Wymack asked Renee and Allison to take care of it; somehow the trip was joined by Andrew and Seth.
They arrived at 7/11 and set out to collect different types of snacks for everyone; then in one of the corridors Allison spotted a very familiar auburn hair, let out a small squeak of joy and ran over there, alerting Andrew and Renee that they thought there was some threat, only to see the blonde hugging wildly to a short guy.
After leaving the mysterious boy and letting him breathe, Seth also approached and released a sassy comment: 'look just who is here, if it is other than a whore vixen smartass'.
Before any Fox could say anything else, the unknown boy (for Andrew and Renee) counterattacked: 'what's up, drug addict? Have not you received your daily dose, that I notice you something cranky?’
Surprisingly, Seth only grined sideways and stretched out a hand to stir the hair of the boy under: 'how did you do in the competition, midget?'
The auburn boy reply to Seth: 'of course we won, Gordon; nobody compares to us, so I hope you Foxes do not leave us in bad during the season'.
In that Allison jumps and assures with conviction: 'clearly this is our season, Josten, we have two new members who are monsters in the field when they want; we will destroy the asshole of Riko'.
Josten only gave a small laugh at that and nodded in support; and that sound really caught Andrew's attention, that he looked up from the candy shelf to finally see the one who seemed to be friends with Gordon and Reynolds, being stunned.
'Shit,' was the first thought that went through Andrew's mind, followed by 'fucking gorgeous' and 'problem': in front of him was a boy a few inches taller than him, with auburn hair and impossibly blue eyes, like celestial ones. Beautiful. His left cheek had a slight pink burn of three circles, barely visible, and on his right he had three fine cuts; However, not a single one of those scars left any kind of beauty, not even remotely. Even though Andrew's face remained expressionless, an intense blush was staying on his cheeks as he detailed the impressive boy in front of him; he never had seen someone so painfully attractive like Josten.
Allison noticed it (Renee too, but she did not anything).
The blonde took the Vixen's forearm and pulled him closer to the group saying: 'Oh, right! You do not know Renee or Minyard, personally; You never could meet to meet my Renee and Minyard arrived when you were in the competition. Babe, Monster, he's Neil Josten, sub-captain of the Vixens.'
Renee introduced herself and greeted him kindly, curious about the times when his girlfriend talked to him about this boy, Andrew only blushed a little more when Neil looked directly at him but swerved off with a cutting: 'Cheerleader, really?'
Before Allison spoke, Neil responded quickly and sharp: 'What, I do not look like that? Then you'll have to excuse me, I forgot to put on my uniform skirt for you.'
The right corner of Andrew's mouth trembled (the closest thing to a smile that Renee had seen in him): 'so sassy, Vixen.'
A grin formed on Neil's lips: 'so, Andrew Minyard, I could say it's a pleasure to finally meet Aaron's twin, I've heard a lot of things from you'.
Andrew like: 'I bet were not good at all'.
Another short laugh came from Neil's lips: 'no, they were not, but they're still interesting'.
A thought was shared among the other three present in the scene, something like 'fucking weird flirting' (being kinder in Renee's head).
Andrew may only want to kick himself when he felt so trapped looking at Neil's fluffy lips.

what if nathan didn't slice neil's tendons but instead amputated his legs?
oh my GOD now this one i can go the fuck off of hell y e s
thank you so much
nathan’s cleaver comes down and it’s done in one clean slice.
nathaniel’s screams are enough to draw attention. it made everyone burst in sooner.
but by that time, nathaniel’s other leg was gone.
nathaniel was taken to the hospital immediately.
they tried to fix it, but… it was irreparable damage.
nathaniel wesninski would never walk again.
he would never run again.
he would never, ever play exy again.
neil josten was no more.
this time, neil was forced to stay in the hospital longer than he would have liked. longer than the fbi sure liked.
they questioned him there. they contacted wymack, too, and wymack came alone.
nathaniel refused anyone else. he refused even andrew, and the only reason andrew didn’t come in was because nathaniel explicitly told him not to on the phone.
wymack looked heartbroken. he walked into the room, saw neil laying in the bed, and froze when his gaze hit his knees and saw… nothing past that but flat blanket.
“fuck, josten.”
“it’s not josten.”
“then what the fuck is it?”
“wesninski. nathaniel wesninski.”
“fuck, wesninski, you’re… fuck.”
“tell them i died.”
“no. i don’t lie to my team.”
“it’s better for them. tell them i died.”
wymack is… stuck. he knows neil’s right. he knows that if he tells the team that neil died it’ll be easier. but…
“what about minyard?” (it comes out as a statement)
“what about him.”
“he’s waiting out there. if i say you’re dead, he’s going to burst in here and demand to see your body.”
“why is he here?”
wymack just looked at him and neil knew.
it… feels weird still. neil looks down at his legs and sees just… nothing where his feet and his shins should be. it’s wrong.
everything is wrong.
he feels tears well up in his eyes despite himself.
his mom told him he’d never play exy again when they were running, but at least then he knew he could still fall back to it. he knew he still did fall back to it.
but now that was gone from him.
his father took everything from him. everything was gone.
he saw wymack draw closer and flinched a little. wymack stopped.
neil felt shame in his chest now. wymack had been nothing but nice to him. and the foxes were so close to a win, a record in the books, but now… now they didn’t have enough players and there was no way they could gather another player to join now.
“i’m sorry, coach,” neil says quietly. he swallows thickly. the pain meds arekicking in again.
“it’s not your fault, kid,” says wymack, and neil knows he meant it.
“let him in.”
wymack knows what he means. “are you sure?”
“yes. let him in.”
so they do.
andrew immediately notices the missing part.
he stops right in the doorway. he looks at the end of the bed, then at neil’s face.
he walks over to neil’s bed.
“i’m going to kill him.”
“he’s already dead.”
andrew goes silent. there’s nothing else he can say.
“i can’t play.”
andrew’s eyes twitch like he’s mad.
“we can’t win.”
“who gives a fuck.”
“i do.”
silence
“kevin does.”
silence.
“we all do. i know you do, too.”
“shut the fuck up.”
neil does. he shuts up. they both look at each other.
neil doesn’t know what to do.
aaand i’m gonna stop this for tonight and come back to it later….. just remind me

cone sold stober by bazookajo94 (T | 3,499 | 1/1)
“I’m not paying for that.” Andrew reached out for the waffle cone and avoided touching Neil this time. “I’m just giving it to you,” Neil told him. “You’re terrible at this job,” Andrew said. Neil shrugged. “It’s just for the summer.”
We Could Be Heroes by justdk (T | Incomplete | 1/?)
Local bad boy/villain Andrew Minyard steps in to save his crush, the mysterious Stealth Shadow (Nathaniel Wesninski), and, after properly meeting him, decides to look after him (Title from the song "Heroes" by David Bowie)
growing pains by nightquills, Ominous (T | 10,693 | 1/1)
Stuart knows it’s perfectly normal for teenagers to have crushes. That’s why he’s not surprised in the slightest when Neil starts acting strange; lighter, happier. However, what he doesn’t expect is for the crush to leak into his everyday life—or literally take up residence in his house. Or: five times Stuart knew Neil was hiding a nighttime guest, and one time he actually met him.
Dark necessities by boybeaulieu (M | 20,780 | 3/3)
If there is one thing everyone knows in this shit-hole town, is that Andrew Minyard is dangerous. Neil sees it as well, he sees the tattoos and the piercings and the fast car; he sees the dead eyes and the cigarettes and the bruised knuckles. And he absolutely hates it. or The Small Town AU where Andrew Minyard has a reputation, Neil is helplessly infatuated and bound to get his heart broken, and Allison -well, Allison did warn them all.
It Was Like This by alex_wh0 (T | 4,332 | 1/1)
