NEW: Malware threat via text files with links
[April 7, 2024]
Do NOT download or follow links from these fake mods:
“S4 CAS Tools” on Nexus from user fubruss
“Loading Screen Randomizer” on Nexus from user fubruss
anything else from the Nexus user fubruss.
These are NOT the Sims mods they claim to be. They are text files with links leading to malware.
No legitimate mod download will EVER consist of only a text file (a file ending in .txt).  Be alert for other versions of this way of spreading malware.
If you downloaded either of these, delete them NOW and run a virus scan. NOTE: This malware does NOT require that you run the game for it to install itself, and is not what ModGuard is designed to detect and stop.
This is also another case of mod-spoofing, using the names of legitimate mods. The legit mods are S4 CAS Tools by the late CmarNYC (Mod the Sims, dated 18 March 2023) and Loading Screen Randomizer by Tesuto (Mod the Sims, dated 9 January 2024).
Much gratitude to Tumblr Simmer 1-800-cuupid!

How do you make your photos look so nice? It's hard for me to capture the moment or get the poses right, something always goes wrong.
HI!
Sorry this took me a bit, I was pretty busy last week!!
Big overarching things are that I use reshade and also have a very nice monitor so I can take photos at a high resolution. I know you can spoof this with SRWE but I've never used it.
Beyond that, I use a mixture of gameplay and poses, I prefer the variance in emotion I get from gameplay animations but sometimes I need a pose to accomplish what I'm trying to get across.
I take photos by either queuing some gameplay actions or setting my poses, then I tab into photo mode far away from my scene (so that nothing is made invisible) and use shift and arrow keys to scoot over to where I have my sims. Once I have my camera in photo mode where I want it and my sims in the right locations I start moving around and taking photos from all sorts of different angles and zooms. If I'm doing gameplay, I'll unpause and then immediately pause again, which allows the gameplay expression to change a bit. Doing it like this means I get to see all the potential gameplay expressions and can take as much time to capture that expression as needed. I always take my photos while the game is paused so I can change angles and move around and such.
Another in game photo tip is saving the angle of your camera by pressing ctrl and the 5, 6, 7, or 8, key. That way when you're in photo mode you can just hit that number and it zooms over to the exact saved angle and location. I use this feature all the time.
I take a million photos, like a typical post for me will probably have 50+ photos and I just choose the ones that I think fit best. I try to keep photography rules like the rule of thirds in mind but a lot of it is just how a photo feels. I've been experimenting with lower angles and more close ups lately as I've seen some amazing photos by other simmers doing that. I keep an eye on what I see on my dash and will absolutely emulate styles I enjoy.
I also have the great fortune to have a partner who is an amateur photographer so when I have a particularly difficult shot I want to accomplish I make him come up and help me get the right angle and zoom.
I also edit all my photos to selectively brighten, adjust contrast and exposure, and use topaz clean.
tldr: reshade, photo mode, pause frequently, save angles, look for photos you like and emulate them, consider dating someone who's into photography.

This game will be so akward.
LOL I KNOW
I've never played an actual dating sim (Though, this is made by the people who did that KFC dating game which was kind of a spoof) I'm 100% sure I will have to close the game a couple of times and walk away from it lol.
I kind of love silly games that put me in silly situations and I think I will enjoy it a lot. (Not to mention they have beef cake Trapper <3)
I'll also be playing it with my friend so we will be laughing and cringing together.

Random thing but I don’t think anyone has mentioned this regarding DDLC regarding certain scenes and the content warning that regular VNs also have
NOTE: THIS POST HAS SOME MENTIONS OF SPOILERS FROM THE GAME DDLC AS WELL AS MENTIONS OF SOME TOPICS THAT MAY BE CONSIDERED SENSATIVE. PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THOSE TOPICS AND/OR DO NOT WANT THE GAME SPOILED AS IT IS BEST PLAYED BLIND.
I know how it tries to pull the whole “subverted VN” thing but even then there are a few things that “break the immersion” when it’s needed that actually work and have been seen in actual visual novels that aren’t just designed to be Psychological Horror
Namely that of the more sensitive scenes (Aka that one Sayori scene) and even the content warning.
Now why am I saying this because you may be thinking “Oh Reshi, this is supposed to be a spoof on the old Dating Sim VA so this stuff is there for subvertation reasons.”. First off, yes and no. Yes because it’s supposed to either throw the player for a loop when it happens and to warn them if they are sensitive to this content but also no since these sorts of things happen in even in any regular old visual novels.
Japanese visual novels (Which DDLC is mainly based on) are no stranger to sensitive topics like mental health, blood, death, murder, and even suicide in some instances, espically if it’s in a school setting as a lot of dating sim VNs tend to fall into of what DDLC is trying to parody/pull itself off as. Though usually these sort of things, usually the extreme latter, usually only tend to pop up towards the end of the game, usually if the player is on what we will refer to as a “Bad Ending” of a certain route. It doesn’t have to happen on-screen since this sort of thing can also happen if you are pursuing another character’s route but usually it’s most often front and center in bad ending routes focusing on the specific character which is why I feel it’s kind of a shock that no matter which girl you pursue, even if it is Sayori and choosing all of the positive options for her which would normally net you in these circumstances a good ending (even if it’s due to Monica fucking with the game), this scene will always play out regardless. Same goes with Yuri in Act 2 because even if you spend time with Natsuki (Who doesn’t even have one), you will always get her death scene when you may have expected to have it be the other way around (Tho at this point, the game has already made it clear it’s not just any old VN
Let’s pretend for a second if DDLC was not a meta horror game (Yes I’m aware DDLC: Blue Skies exists but let’s put that aside for now), and was simply just a regular old VN that still kept these heavy elements, these sort of scenes would still work in this case if you make the wrong choices and wouldn’t be unheard of appearing but likely handled more in a heartbreaking way instead of more of a horror element.
Now onto my other point, the warning text at the beginning of the game. Yes I know it kinda gives things away but at the same time it could work into fooling people that DDLC is just a visual novel.
Let’s say that you don’t read the extended one on Team Salvato’s website and only read the ones in the opening seconds on the menu (Namely these and ignoring the Contains Spoilers one from DDLC+):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean it kinda gives away that something’s up with this game but doesn’t always point directly to it being a horror game with these sorts of warnings, espically if lets say, you’ve played other VNs in the past since content like this still pops up in VNs that aren’t intended to specifically be horror and it doesn’t always have to just jump out in your face on every route as sometimes the average Joe on the first run of certain games might not even see this stuff even if it’s in the game.
Take School Days which I feel is a good example since how infamous it’s bad endings are and while yes they can be obtained on shear accident by somebody going in blind, not everyone playing the game will come across some of the game’s darker scenes but that doesn’t mean they aren’t there (Correct me if I’m wrong or feel free to provide another example of you wish) so a game like School Days which is a dating sim game at its core could still carry a warning like that of DDLC that a player might see when they boot up the game, even if they happen to get lucky and never get to actually see any of that content.
Just a bit of rambling but idk if anyone else noticed that

SCP SPOOF DATING SIM
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(loading/starting screen concepts)
A while back I had this idea for an SCP Foundation spoof dating sim with the doctors from the LOLFoundation canon, a bit like a Doki Doki Literature Club kind of thing, but it was going to be very joke-y and meta, etc, etc, due to all of the people in the LOLFoundation canon actually all being really horrible and unlikeable people. I never really got round to making it as I had too much going on at the time. I do still want to make it, but a lot of things have happened with the authors of the characters that make me a bit wary of actually making it a thing.
Anyways, I had an idea for the promotional stuff to be the doctors drawn like playboy pin-ups, kinda playing on the frequent sexualisation of young women in dating sims but instead with middle aged men… I thought it was funny. Other sketches are just ideas of moments in the game I had. I wanted a balance of scary, funny, heartwarming, honestly it was a mix of a lot of things. Maybe I’ll make it one day, I’ll have to take some time thinking about it.

New Post has been published on All about business online
New Post has been published on http://yaroreviews.info/2023/05/uk-to-ban-all-cold-calls-selling-financial-products
UK to ban all cold calls selling financial products
Getty Images
The UK is to ban all cold calls selling financial products as part of a national crackdown on scams.
Unsolicited calls offering any financial product will be covered by the ban, with a view to stopping fraudsters selling sham insurance products or cryptocurrency schemes.
A new fraud squad will also be set up with 500 staff, up from 120 now.
But Labour and the Liberal Democrats called the plans “too little, too late”.
Fraud is now the most common crime in the UK, with one in 15 people falling victim.
Last summer, 41 million people were targeted by suspicious calls and texts, according to media regulator Ofcom. However, most fraud now has an online element, data suggests.
The government said the blanket ban on cold calls selling financial products would cover legitimate calls as well.
This will mean that “anyone who receives a call trying to sell them products such as cryptocurrency schemes or insurance will know it’s a scam”, it said.
Exactly which financial products will be covered will be decided after a consultation, with the ban expected to be brought in this summer.
In addition, the government said:
So-called “Sim Farms”, where people use a large number of Sim cards to send text messages in bulk, will be banned
Intelligence services and police will work with overseas partners to shut down call centres engaged in fraud
Advertising campaigns will warn people about the risk of scam calls
There will be new measures to tackle phone number “spoofing”, where scammers alter Caller ID information to make calls look genuine.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that the new rules will tackle “cold-hearted” scammers who “ruin lives in seconds.”
He said these scams fund “organised crime and terror”.
‘Too little, too late’
But Emily Thornberry, the Labour Party’s shadow attorney general, said the plans ignored “the tens of billions being lost to fraud against businesses and the government, and relies on estimates of the cost of fraud to members of the public that are seven years out of date”.
Labour said that the government has “repeatedly” left fraud out of the crime figures and they have “no interest in bringing fraudsters to justice”.
The SNP’s technology spokesperson Carol Monaghan said the government had been “slow to protect vulnerable people”.
“Cruelly, pensioners are often the target of such scam artists and the effects can be devastating,” she said, adding the government plans and funding were “insufficient” to tackle the scale of the problem.
Alistair Carmichael, home affairs spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats, said: “With only one new investigator for every 9,000 cases last year, the [new] fraud squad is just a drop in the ocean compared to what’s needed to protect fraud victims.
“These plans will also put even more of a burden on local police forces who are already overstretched.”
Consumer group Which? welcomed the strategy but also criticised the government for not acting sooner.
“More action is needed to guarantee that big tech platforms take serious action against fraud,” it added.
The government says fraud costs the UK nearly £7bn per year, and nearly 90% of internet users have encountered online scams.
A Home Office spokesman said £400m had been allocated to economic crime in the last government spending review, including £100m to tackle fraud.

It’s 2023
I played video games and became a Dr. last year.
Let’s go over that first one.
Here’s a list of (most) of the video games I played this year, in a semblance of order of how much I think they’re good. Order subjective and up to change. But enjoy.
1. This position was up in the air for a while. Both games 1 & 2 could switch in a week, but at the time of writing, my favorite game I played this year has to be Elden Ring.
Elden Ring is a triumph of everything that makes video games great. Alternative story telling. Beautiful environments. Great music. And an open style of gameplay that allows and rewards experimentation. A triumph of a game by FromSoft and likely their best game ever made.
It's not perfect; the difficulty swings wildly, and like Breath of the Wild before it so much of the thrill is in the discovery that repeat playthroughs really lose a lot. But this truly is the current pinnacle of open world video games.
2. Just and this next game is honored to share it's spot next to Elden Ring, Elden Ring is equally as honored to be next to my number 2 game, Vampire Survivors. A game that is custom made to deliver serotonin directly into your brain. All the excitement of a slot machine with none of the predation. A game that proves greatness doesn't need a high cost, or great visuals, or the soundtrack of the year, just the ability to allow it's players to go nuts and have fun. To reduce the buttons to 5, to take away so much "agency" so players can focus on the decisions that matter. The DLC almost pushed this ahead of Elden Ring. And make no mistake, I will play (and have played) this game more than I will ever play Elden Ring. There is just so much that you can do.
3. I wanted to wait to write this list until I finished a particular game, thinking it might make the list. And at the #3 spot, Ultrakill delivers. Like DOOM Eternal on amphetamines, Ultrakill is a relentless, hardcore, high intensity experience where the only thing standing between you can getting destroyed is the fresh blood of your enemies. This isn’t an easy game, it’s punishing at times, but hot damn is it fun and it is still in early access. Can’t wait for Part 3: Godfist Suicide. Like come on.
4. Is it cheating to have an 18 year old game on my games of the year list? Maybe, but I first played Ace Combat 5 this year, so it makes the list at the #4 spot. Because it's insane. I've got a full review of this one but suffice it to say Ace Combat 4, 5, and Zero are probably the best trilogy of games ever.
5. At number 5, we have Sucker for Love: First Date, which while not the scariest game I played this year (thanks Anatomy! ) was way more unnerving than the silly concept of dating lovecraftian monsters seemed at first blush. Guess that as long as Lovecraft himself ain't writing, eldritch stuff is just real good.
6. Prey rounds out the top 6, an immersive sim that is great fun for 15 hours, and kinda plodding for 5 more but still a time I'd recommend. Full review for this one exists elsewhere too.
7. Procession to Calvary comes in at 7. While not high art (unlike what it's spoofing), the game is silly enough and a decent enough puzzle game that I can recommend it without many caveats. You're a "noble" knight on her quest to kill the heathens when you get told, hey, the war is over and you can't kill anyone anymore. Naturally, this upsets you, but you do get a chance to kill once more, with the enemy leader still being alive and all. So you hunt him down to get your last hurrah of murder in. It's not perfect, but it has enough charm for it's short runtime so deserving of a recommend.
Interlude: I played a bunch of things that I’ve previously beaten/written about in years past, so just gonna list some of those off.
Project Wingman: Still great, still fun. 100% recommend.
Katana Zero: See above, this is one of the best games of the past decade for sure.
Hollow Knight: I replayed the bangers this year, what can I say.
Ace Combat 4: yep more bangers.
Metal Gear Rising: eventually I’ll stop listing off contenders for top games ever made.
The Stanley Parable (ultra deluxe): but that time’s not now. Also this one is technically new and actually well worth it even if you played the original.
Bloodborne: another all-time GOAT.
Path of Exile: This one was real weird. It started off fantastic with the first two leagues, but Lake of Kalandra was turbo ass and had me uninstalling the game. Current league is back up to par, and am having fun, but the future of the game is kinda shakey.
League of Legends: Game is still garbage, but friends still want to play.
Dead by Daylight: Ditto.
End Interlude
Now for a list of stuff that doesn’t make the top 7, an arbitrary cutoff point.
Anatomy: Among the scariest video games I have ever interacted with. It's fucked.
Last Epoch: When PoE was crap, I played this. It’s... fine. There’s not much egregiously wrong with it (except the current final boss lol). It’s less diverse than PoE though so that’s something. But still, fine.
Neon White: I didn’t finish, but I had some fun with this one. Then it started hitting the wrong parts of my brain. Ya know, the ones focused on perfectionism and frustration. So put it aside. But the game is pretty cool.
Hypnospace Outlaw: Best wish fulfillment game ever, I played for 2 hours, realized my in-game boss was an abusive asshat, and I decided the most in character thing to do was quit my job and uninstalled the game. 10/10.
Halo 1: I had never played the original Halo. Probably should have kept it that way because it’s... not great.
Deep Rock Galactic: This is a game that’s pretty good if you want to do something repetitive. But I have a lot of things that do that, and this wasn’t the best of those.
Risk of Rain 2: This one was too much for me, godspeed if you like it.
Ace Combat 7: This game sucks. Except for the DLC. Which just shows how much the rest sucks.
Have a bunch of things I’ve started but not finished (and do intend to finish), but this wraps up all the stuff I can think of for now. Video games good.
