(reading too much into the episode) i'm obviously biased about this sort of thing but like, for a character enamoured with fairy tales who tends to adhere closely to/finds some kind of comfort in various clearer rule sets and expectations and duty, i think the read of rinne in gotcha 30 as struggling with specifically feelings towards tsukumo would be very interesting
particularly, the realizations that even among her garnered cohort, that she has suddenly become different again (that houtarou has a shared childhood elsewhere, that this kind of romance and range of social interaction feels to be immediately accessible to others).. or her feelings of loneliness and her projected desire for atropos to be able to live "normally".. it just fits very well for me
#still also genuinely thinking about this. i know it's not a thing that happens in these shows#but like! the idea of reckoning with loneliness upon re-realizing hetereronormative social structure through#an episode premise that is often propped up on such things is like. it's a cool idea to me#especially in the broader context of frustration with alchemist law and that the world must be overturned for the heroes' goals#definitely definitely reading too much into it but..!!!!! it would be interesting.#krtext

it's been set up a lot since the beginning but the atropos-rinne interactions thus far have really started to feel stand-out now in the light of the two's confrontations in 29 and 30
the two relate to each other in a way that feels so strikingly lonely. while she is certainly genuinely concerned for her, i think there is also the idea that rinne sees atropos in part from the perspective of, "if she can be saved and live normally, then even i can be saved"--a way to satisfy her experiences of persistent isolation in the wake of her father and social estrangement
atropos in turn can identify that intent and is disgusted by it. what she believes is needed for herself after all, is not "normal"
struggling with loneliness herself however, her own identification with rinne compels her to single out and isolate the other in feelings of self-disgust and self-suspicion--so as to become an existence closer to her. especially in light of her garnered friendships and victories, the world rinne wants to live in feels utterly and increasingly inaccessible to atropos, and so she pushes back in the way she does.
(here, re: attacking tsukumo) "what is terrifying about atropos is that she understands rinne's feelings better than she does herself, and comes to makes use of them."
the work done with these two becomes more interesting the more i revisit them. it has the groundwork to really embody some of that hero-monster struggle with mutual recognition and wretched alienation i really enjoy out of the series :0c

alternate universe chiyoko as the cool goofy older rider is such a beautiful vision. tokusatsu as a whole needs like a dozen more of such portrayals. in my humble opinion.
