I like both ideas, bc it provides an opportunity for the Dark Forest to evolve in some way; I really like the idea of Curl taking lead and trying to make the Dark Forest cats united (not for any real GOAL, but bc they're still clan cats dammit, and separated in little pockets they'll never be able to grow).
The camp one is kinda obvious- it was a place of horror, but they need a place to stay. She never came too close to the place until she realized that if she wanted to unite the cats into a group, they needed a camp. And Starclan (she hisses at the irony) knows she'll never do it on her own. She enters, and it terrifies her- before she knows it shes backing away and fleeing. Over time though, she makes it further in, stays a bit longer. She finds the dens are still pretty decent, and that her heart feels a lot lighter as she rips down and destroys the cage. She's elated to find hierloom tools in the camp eventually- some are broken, but can be fixed. She purrs as she thinks how happy Darkstripe would be to have some proper cooking tools. This was a place of fear and death, yes, but it doesn't always have to be that way, does it?
The dogs less so but hear me out. At first she is haunted by the dogs, downright terrified- the gnashing of teeth, the frenzied barks. It's not even anything she can think or dwell on; as soon as she hears the howling and barking, she's immediately running away, fleeing as far as her paws take her. She knows she'll never actually die here, but she's still so, so scared. Maybe she comes to the conclusion on her own, or maybe someone else points it out, but eventually she realizes what you mentioned. She saved her CHILD- she should be PROUD, not scared. This is her greatest moment- her death an irrelevant footnote compared to her baby's life. Idk *exactly* how it should go, but she confronts her fear, and manages to 'tame' it. She is no longer afraid, this illusion holds no power over her. Either they fade away and just stop existing without Curl's fear to feed it, maybe they turn docile and harmless, idk. No matter what though, i have a feeling that something like THAT will catch the eye of some DF cats, sorta like a Tiny to Scourge deal. "She got rid of her land mar" into "She destroyed the land mar" to "She KILLED her land mar"- even the first one has to gain her some respect frok the others, and gives her a solid footing to try and get cats together and united.
Ask was sent a while ago, and I've been looking at it since then. It's a really good pitch, and I had things to do, so I just passively chewed it for a while. Both ideas are really good; so I was trying to think of some way to get them together.
I think I've got a good thought now;
I'll make Curlfeather's Land Mar dog related.
But they're not the same dogs that actually attacked her (which, depending on how the arc goes, might ACTUALLY be apparitions from the Dark Forest which Ashfur dragged out for his schemes. Specifically they'd be Brightheart's nightmares.)
Curlfeather's Hounds are blind. They hunt completely through "smell," and they smell her fear
I can keep her Land Mar being quite unique by actually having it follow her. Instead of it being a place she's trapped in, she's haunted by random dog events which will inevitably interrupt any plans she makes.
So she's perpetually close to making the group that she wants, uniting these demons just because it's what she deserves, but she is forced to flee when her hounds find her.
The camp she ends up using doesn't have to be her OWN Land Mar; I have another cat who actually has a 1:1 camp as theirs.
Morningstar, the deposed leader of ThunderClan who refused to allow his cats to fight. His is simply his camp, on the day where Pearstar invented the Right to Challenge and killed him for his position.
Morningstar's also HATED in the Dark Forest, because of his pacifism. Thinking about it, it's actually a great parallel for what I'm planning with Curlfeather!
She has disdain for her father because she sees him as weak. Reedwhisker swearing loyalty to The Kin after being tortured was her catalyst for believing he needed to die; that RiverClan would have a sniveling, careless leader.
So if it's Morningstar she ends up developing a bond with, they can help each other.
Morningstar can make her realize that her terrifying death by the dogs is something she can be proud of. That it isn't something to fear and revile, but a sign that when she was forced to choose between love and ambition, she chose love.
And Curlfeather can see that maybe people like Morningstar, who she'd always seen as weak, have wisdom she'd never considered. Uniting these cats isn't about power or recognition; it's just about helping to make everyone's lives better.
I can even keep the "empty camp" idea. Stepping into Morningstar's gloomy Land Mar, setting a little fire just to help with the mist, and realizing it's not all that bad. There's old tools laying strewn about, the dens are all in working order. We can make a proper home here, if we let it be.
There's probably a cage there because of Ashfur, maybe it's the one that he made the demons toss Rootspring into. Maybe I'll have the demons eventually trick Curlfeather's Sighthounds into Deadfrost's Labyrinth, if Shredtail's still around. He double-died in canon but I wouldn't be too opposed to killing someone else in his stead.
She'll also have to prove herself to the other demons. Most of them are pretty wary of "leader-types" after what happened with Tigerstar. Ironically the closest thing they have to a "leader" is Darkstripe because his soups are so good. If he doesn't like your vibe, you're cut off from the "Social Circle."
I need to make some sort of pun out of Rings of Hell and Social Circle. Social Ring of Hell.

To be honest, I never realized that Willowpelt and all her siblings had such interesting, in-depth stories if you took the time to look at them and make your own inferences from them.
Willowpelt herself and her relationship with her kits, Leopardfoot relationship with Pinestar and being the mother of Tigerstar, Patchpelt and the multiple relationships he's had, Spottedleaf if you decide to rewrite her story to a more respectful story reflecting on hard, but sadly realistic situation that accused in her life, and Redtail persisting to improve himself and rise through the ranks in his life before being killed by his own nephew.
Not to mention the kits of these siblings, like the close bond Tigerstar, Darkstripe, and Longtail had with each other, or how Longtail was close with his half-brother, Swiftpaw, before Tigerstar indirectly killed his cousin.
Also, Darkstripe nearly kills his own half-sister, causing not only his own family pain but probably also devastating Longtail in the process after what happened to Swiftpaw, before he was killed by his own half-brother, Graystripe.
Tigerstar also had an interesting upbringing with his grandfather, and father being Thunderclan's leaders before Pinestar left, leaving behind Tigerstar and his mother. He also had an older cat constantly being paranoid about him (not trying to shit on Goosefeather, just stating a fact), and the loss of his siblings. Also, the only father figure in his life was a bad person, making Tigerstar nearly kill a cat at some point.
And then he continues with his actions by taking advantage of his kits while both dead and alive. We all already know about Tigerstar's dictatorship and what did to get there, so I'll skip all that, but all of that info is still important.
He leads Hawkfrost to help him continue his selfish goals, and during his time alive, he manipulated his own sister, which traumatized her. Not to mention Tigerstar manipulated his grandson to train in the Dark Forest.
Bramblestar also later abuses his mate Squirrelflight and isn't that nice of a cat later down the line after being a pretty good person in the previous books.
In the end, this family faces generations having trauma and while some cats are able to move on and live normal lives like Sorreltail, Rainwhisker, Sorreltail, Graystripe, and nicely Tawnypelt, it's sad to see how it still affects them later on.
Damn, this entire family needs some therapy.

An extremely messy draft of moving the births around for the 1st arc. Subject to change.
The number is the relation of moons in comparison to the birth of Firestar. For instance, Cinderpelt is 7 moons younger than Firestar, changed to be born a moon after he joins ThunderClan.
Some cats have notes of their planned mentor. For instance the four starting Thunder apprentices (Fire, Sand, Gray, Dust) all receive the major four litter (Cinder, Bright, Bracken, Thorn).

Tigerclaw and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Senior Warrior Position AU
In a world where deputies can only be named after their first apprentice has been granted their warrior name, Tigerclaw struggles to keep an apprentice alive long enough to earn their name.
or, a comedy-tragedy AU in which having an apprentice isn't enough — you have to see them to their warrior name, and Tigerclaw cannot fucking get any of his goddamn apprentices to live, damn it.
It starts out mostly normally, except for the fact that Tigerclaw hasn't gotten any apprentices to their warrior name, and he needs that so he can accomplish his (very noble, of course) kitty genocide goals. And also be the supreme leader of the world or something. Darkpaw died stupidly, he hasn't had a chance since, and now he's got some tiny thing that's afraid of his own shadow.
Well. It'll have to do.
So naturally this man is so protective over Ravenpaw that Ravenpaw barely even leaves his sight. Firepaw and Graypaw think that this is adorable. Look how much Tigerclaw cares about his apprentice!!
Ravenpaw, of course, is fucking terrified and also slowly losing his mind, just in a different way.
"Redtail assigned us to go on a patrol to Snakerocks." "OH NO HE DID NOT. WE'RE STAYING IN THE SANDY HOLLOW WHERE IT'S SAFE."
"Nothing matters more to me than making you a warrior, Ravenpaw. Nothing." And the terrible thing is that Ravenpaw is sure he's being sincere.
Ravenpaw disappears and Tigerclaw nearly fucking has a conniption because the timing was all RIGHT and he was going to finally get the position AND HE NEVER GOT HIS DAMN NAME FUCK.
"Do you think I could convince the elders that Fireheart was my apprentice?" "Fireheart was Bluestar's apprentice, as approved by StarClan. You're going to have to wait for the next litter to be apprenticed."
So he begs and begs and gets Cinderpaw and then she accidentally falls into the trap he'd set for a better deputy candidate at the Thunderpath. Fuck.
Well. Time to resort to drastic measures.
"I was thinking that Darkstripe would have been a good name. Because he had dark stripes." "Again, Tigerclaw, it's admirable that you loved your apprentice so much, but I cannot grant him a name." "Are you sure?" "Honestly, Tigerclaw, I'm not sure he ever would have gotten a name. Missing quite a few feathers from his nest, that one..." Fuck. The worst part was that she wasn't even wrong.
— Swiftpaw and Brightpaw get mauled by the dogs he set up to happen like right after he got the title and they sprang it before and he's like FUCK NOW WHAT DO I DO WITH THESE DAMN DOGS? His world domination plans literally never come to fruition because he cannot keep his apprentices alive/in the clan/his own.
— "Brightheart counts. She HAS to count." "Actually, Cloudtail took over her training…" [demented noises]
Turns out that Ravenpaw is alive and no one — no one — in the Harper Collins Extended Universe is happier than Tigerclaw.
"You're alive! …You deserve your warrior name!" "Actually, I've come to peace with my name and my way of life. I have no need for a—" "GET YOUR FUCKING NAME RIGHT NOW RAVENPAW OR SO HELP ME STARCLAN—" "I know you really wanted Ravenpaw to become a warrior," Barley says gently, "but he's made his decision. It's very kind of you to acknowledge that he deserves it, though. You must have been so close as mentor and apprentice." Tigerclaw's eye twitches. "Yes. Close. Very... close." —
He finally, finally retires as an elder after his plans go absolutely nowhere for years on end. And maybe StarClan is still like "Brambleclaw would be chill actually, we can forget that pesky little law" and Tigerclaw is sitting there like "excuse me what the actual fuck?" —
But at this point Tigerclaw is about as dangerous as Ashfur without a freak forest fire. Which is to say about as dangerous as using a leaf as a weapon. Which is, incidentally, how Darkpaw managed to get himself killed in the first place.
"Is this the Dark Forest? This has to be the Dark Forest. It doesn't look like Thistleclaw described it, but it must be. This Clan is all an elaborate punishment meted down by StarClan for my sins." "Tigerclaw, sir, I'm just here to help you with your ticks. See? I have the mousebile right here." "…Yes, thank you, Alderpaw." — Graystripe joins him in the elder's den and he's like, "You know, Ravenpaw thought you were up to some… scheme, back in the day. Crazy, right? You've been a model Clanmate as long as I've been alive." [muffled screaming] "Huh, what do you think that is? It sounds almost like someone killed a rabbit, but they know not to come this close to camp…"

NEW LONGSTAR AU - THE NOT-SO-LONG BALLAD OF FIRE AND FLAME
Before Fire Prophecy
Talltail seeks to kill the Loner that he believes killed his father.  With the help of a kittypet named Jake, he finds the strength to forgive, and instead saves Sparrow from the Monster, and returns to Windclan with new determination in his heart and a dear…friend…that he leaves behind.  It is with this new spirit that he protests the renaming of Hopkit, and he stays Hoppaw.  The two remain close friends throughout their lives.
In Riverclan, Stormkit is renamed Crookedkit, but Rainflower is also renamed – Rottenflower.  Crookedkit’s name is given as a sign of survival, and Rottenflower’s as a sign of her true heart.  Crookedkit still leaves for a time, still is haunted by the Geist Mapleshade, but with his head a little higher and heart a little clearer.
Tiny is playing on an old stump when the Thunderclan Patrol finds him, and Thistleclaw orders Tigerpaw to attack.  Bluefur intercedes, and the heavily injured kitten is brought back to camp to be treated.  Sunstar decides to keep the poor little thing, and Frostkit is semi-adopted by Bluefur.
Yellowfang is about to bury Hopekit and Wishkit when the sounds and smells of Twolegs alert her.  She knows they will try to take her and her remaining kit, so she grabs Brokenkit and runs.  The twoleg, stretching their legs after a long car ride, finds the two kittens and sees signs of life in the little tortie.  They rush the cold kitten to a vet, and with time and effort, little Nutmeg thrives.
As Frostkit heals, a moons-long process, he makes friends with Spottedpaw and Whitepaw.  Eventually he notices that Thistleclaw keeps trying to get Spottedpaw alone, and with the help of Thrushpelt, discovers the horrible truth.  Thistleclaw is dragged before the clan, and with Spottedpaw’s testimony, the Traitor is banished from the clans permanently.  Spottedpaw becomes a Healer apprentice, and Thrushpelt begins to mentor Frostpaw.
Nutmeg eventually is introduced to a handsome orange tabby named Jake, and falls in love.  He breaks her heart by leaving when she’s due to give birth, and swears to take care of her beloved bundles of joy by herself.
Raggedstar lies dying, with his daughter Brokentail laughing as she cleans the blood from her paws, and realizes the enormous mistake he made with the way he raised her.  He dies, and watches as Brokentail receives her lives from the Dark Forest. Watches her kill kits.  Watches her banish her own mother.  What has he done?
Longpaw is mentored by Frostfoot, making an unusual pair.  Longpaw is eventually named Longtail, and wonders what his future holds for him.  He does not see the starry crown behind his head, ethereal and light as a dream.
Bluestar and Spottedleaf sit together on a hillside, Leader and Oracle Healer, and a pair of stars fall burning from the sky.  Fire Will Save The Clans.
The Long Ballad of Fire and Flames
Rusty the kittypet has yet another strange dream, of a red-tailed bird falling from a rainy sky.  He and his friend Smudge discuss the happenings around the neighborhood.  Princess, Rusty’s sister, forbids Rusty from going to the forest by himself.  Later that night, Rusty tries to catch a mouse on the border and gets tackled by a gray tabby, who is impressed when Rusty flings him off.  After meeting his mentor Lionheart, Rusty agrees to meet them the next morning, to see the Clan.  Rusty tells Princess about this.
The next morning, Rusty sneaks past a still sleeping Princess and a worried Smudge, and meets Bluestar, Graypaw, and Lionheart. The Thunderclanners refuse to wait for his sister. They head off to camp, with Rusty leaving a subtle scent trail so Princess can find him.  Princess wakes up, and follows the trail with stealth and careful steps.
At camp, Bluestar introduces Rusty as a potential clanmate, and some cats take offense to that.  Darkstripe demands he be tested, but Frostfoot tells him to calm down, what, are you threatened by him? Really?  Lionheart gets inbetween them to break it up, but cocky Longtail challenges the kittypet before anyone can stop him.  Frostfoot is mortified.  Rusty accepts, and the two square off.  Longtail gets the upper paw almost immediately, and gets a hold of Rusty’s collar.  As he pulls, he hears a yowl of outrage.  And suddenly he is FLUNG bodily, his ear burning, the collar still in his mouth.
He gets up, and there is an ENORMOUS molly standing over the fallen kittypet, the warriors and camp guards at the ready to fight.  As Spottedleaf helps him to his feet, Longtail hears the Tortie scolding Rusty for leaving without her, I TOLD you there would be trouble but noooOOOooo you don’t listen to your sister!  You just listen to your silly dreams!! Bluestar interrupts, impressed with the boldness of the kittypet and interested with the dreams comment.  Princess introduces herself, and after Rusty says he agreed to the fight, apologizes to a still stunned Longtail.  Rusty explains he has dreams that come true sometimes, and tells Bluestar and Spottedleaf about the red-tailed hawk dream.  Spottedleaf asks to mentor Rusty in the arts of healing and Starseeing, and Bluestar agrees, asking is Princess would like to join as well. Frostfoot mildly scolds Longtail for leaping without looking, and Princess and Rusty become Flamepaw and Firepaw, with Bluestar herself mentoring Flamepaw.
And then Ravenpaw rushes into camp.  Redtail is dead, he screams, and collapses.  And pandemonium rises.
After Tigerclaw brings Redtail’s lifeless body back to camp, and the apprentices and kits are shielded from the sight by Whitestorm and Lionheart, the pair of siblings settle in.  Firepaw makes fast friends with Ravenpaw and Graypaw, and Flamepaw befriends Dustpaw and Sandpaw.  The pair drag Longtail into being their friend as well, which brings Frostfoot and eventually Swiftpaw into the equation as well.
Longtail begins to mentor Swiftpaw, and finds that he loves teaching.  With the help of Frostfoot and the other Mentor cats, he begins to become more humble and less cocky.  Longtail begins to appreciate his friendship with Firepaw and Flamepaw, and takes more time to live, not just be a Hunter and Mentor.
One day, while gathering herbs for the Healer’s Den, Firepaw is knocked off his feet by an old gray and yellow molly.  He springs to his feet, ready to fight, but the attacker is just…staring at him.  Like she’s seen a Geist.  He cautiously asks if she’s alright, do you need help ma’am?  And she moans something unintelligible, falling to the ground in a dead faint.  Firepaw panics, and drags her back to camp.  There, she is identified as Yellowfang by Spottedleaf, who tells Firepaw of her alleged crimes, and how she believes that Yellowfang was framed.  Said Healer wakes up, takes one look at Flamepaw coming in to drop off a mouse, and promptly wails in grief and pain.  The three of the get her to calm down, and she quietly apologizes, the siblings look like…patients she lost long ago.  Bluestar listens to her tale of Brokenstar being a False Star, and while still weighing the information, relegates Yellowfang to being a War-Bound for the time being.
Bluestar does not hear the story Yellowfang tells to the Healers and the Apprentice Brawler.  She does not see the siblings take the old molly to meet their mother.  She does not know a family has been made as whole as it will ever be.
At the Gathering, Brokenstar tells everyone how she ran out Windclan, and Bluestar realizes that Yellowfang was probably telling the truth.  As she had just revealed Thunderclan had Yellowfang as a War Bound, she begins to prepare for an attack, and she is correct – Shadowclan tries to kill Yellowfang, and succeeds at killing Lionheart and her dear friend Rosetail. Her heart grows a crack. She names the brave Tigerclaw, names Yellowfang part of Thunderclan, and tries to go on.
Then Ravenpaw leaves, begging shelter at The Barn with Bluestar’s old friend Barley, for reasons the apprentice refuses to communicate.  All his friends Graypaw, Firepaw, and Flamepaw will say is that he needed to be something that the Clans couldn’t let him be.  And the crack grows.
And then Shadowclan steals Frostfur’s kits, Lionheart’s kits. They kill Spottedleaf, Firepaw wailing over her body. She goes with her Warriors, Brawlers, and their apprentices to rescue the innocent.  They are met by Senior Warriors and other banished cats from Shadowclan, aided by Yellowfang in secret. Brokenstar is run out of the clans. Yellowfang takes over Firepaw’s training, and Flamepaw and Graypaw are named Flamewish (per her request) and Graystripe. Why is the crack still growing?
Flamewish, Graystripe, Longtail, and Swiftpaw are sent to retrieve Windclan.  It goes well, until a Riverclan patrol tries to fight them, and Whiteclaw falls off a cliff while fighting Graystripe.
When the group returns, Flamewish and Graystripe receive their first apprentices – Cinderpaw and Brackenpaw.  Flamewish finds Mentoring difficult, and asks Longtail for advice.  The pair become close friends.  Firepaw and Sandstorm make bets as to when they’ll become mates.  Unfortunately, Cinderpaw is lured away from camp and gets hit by a Monster. (It’s a car, just – just call it a car!! -Firepaw) Firepaw saves her life, and Yellowfang bestows the name Fireheart upon him at the next half-moon.
Also unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), at seeing her apprentice so badly injured, Flamewish has an unusual reaction.  She goes into labor.  Seeing as Flamewish had no idea she was even a little pregnant (as she put it), things get a little crazy.  Longtail is flabbergasted, Bluestar is confused, Yellowfang is baffled, and Fireheart is delighted but also flabbergasted.  Flamewish does some calculating, then privately asks Fireheart to go bite Smudge in the face for her.
(This means Flamewish misses Graystripe meeting the gorgeously muscled Riverclan molly)
But it DOES mean she spends time in the Nursery with Brindleface, her kits Fernkit and Ashkit and Frostfoot and his kits Flykit and Coldkit.  Frostfoot who had just gone out one day and brought back the pair, claiming them as his.  Bluestar was frustrated and elated at the same time.
The three become even closer when Brokenstar attacks, as they defend the Nursery together.  Longtail and Swiftpaw help drive off the Rogues together, and after Yellowfang blinds Brokenstar and leaves her Brokentail the War Bound, Swiftpaw is rewarded with his Adult Name – Swiftspirit. (Later, Longtail will see this as an omen, unknowingly given by Starclan through Bluestar…) Graystripe is later caught giving prey to Riverclan, and punished by having his apprentice taken away – Longtail is suddenly a Mentor again!  And Brackenpaw has so many things to learn!
Cinderpaw makes a nearly full recovery, but her time in the Healer’s Den had made her rethink her life – she wants to heal others.  Flamewish cracks a joke about her brother poaching her apprentice, but wishes her well.
And then Brokentail’s War Bound status becomes known.  And Thunderclan is attacked.  And Tigerclaw is at her throat, keen claws at her throat.  But as her heart shatters, a yowl of outrage rings through the air, and Longtail and Flamewish HAUL the Traitor off of her.  Bluestar banishes Him, and she holds the pieces of her heart and weeps – there are no stars in her tonight.  She waits too long, then names the astonished Longtail as Deputy.
Then Graystripe begs for the Healers to help him – they find the laboring Silverstream and do what they can, but Featherkit and Stormkit outlive their mother.  Graystripe leaves for Riverclan, refusing to abandon his kits.  Fireheart and Flamewish can’t blame him, but it still hurts.  And Brokentail is dead.  Yellowfang tells her leader that he dies of natural causes, but Bluestar does not see the look on Fireheart’s face.  (She will eventually learn that he just watched his grandmother kill his uncle) Then the fire. Oh the fire.  Patchpelt and Halftail, coughing and then forever breathless.  Fireheart and Flamewish race to find Yellowfang – to find their family.  She lies in a hollow tree, and blesses the Stars that she has enough time to say goodbye.  To say how proud she is of them – both her life paths.  I’ll always watch over you. (and Yellowfang keeps this promise)
Bluestar feels her mind failing, rain through the treetops instead of thoughts. So when she sees the Traitor leading Shadowclan as a False Star, she just…lets go. She watches Leopardstar rise and her clan move around her like a fever dream.  She watches the hawk impassively as it goes for Snowkit, and barely reacts when it takes Speckletail instead.  She doesn’t react when Longtail promotes Snowpaw to train under Brackenfur, or when Flamewish brings the elderly deaf kittypet Brahm to teach Snowpaw and Mistlepaw and others Pawspeak. She doesn’t react to the death of Swiftspirit or the maiming of Brightpaw, save to curse the Stars that left her broken by naming the poor thing Lostface.
(Longtail MOURNS.  He refuses to eat, has to be pried from his nest, and it takes a teary Flamewish admitting she misses the tom she loves for him to snap out of it.  The pair find solace in each other.  Fireheart and Sandstorm are too busy and too worried to exchange the mouse that they bet.  Neither ever says who won that bet)
Rabbits lead a bloody trail to poor Brindleface, and Longtail makes a plan to lead the dogs away from their den and over the river-cliffs.  Bluestar nods absently, but there’s a shining spark in her eyes that hasn’t been there in ages.  The runners lead the killer hounds up to the cliffs and away, but one grabs Longtail, pinning him and scratching his face.  But a blur of blue streaks onto the dog’s back, and overbalances them both into the river.  A pair of Riverclan warriors leap into action, and Bluestar says goodbye to her family, Frostfoot and Whitestorm having raced to the scene.
Longtail is escorted to the Moonstone by Fireheart, and finds himself in Starclan.  He receives his lives from Nightstar, Runningwind, Speckletail, Lionheart, Redtail, Silverstream, Yellowfang, Bluestar, and finally Swiftspirit.  Longstar vows to stop Tigerstar and his cronies.  He names Whitestorm as Deputy, and begins planning.
Tigerstar goes after Windclan, pinning and seemingly killing Gorsepaw, but as soon as the Shadowclan Battle Patrol leaves, he brings his head up and smiles weakly at his frantic mother. He will be scarred for life, but he will have his chance to live.
At Riverclan, Stonefur defends the apprentices to his last breath, and Graystripe rescues his kits from Tigerstar and Leopardstar.  Some Riverclan cats escape in the chaos, unwilling to follow their leader on this path.
Finally, with Windclan and Thunderclan united against the forces of Riverclan and Shadowclan, Tigerstar plays his deadliest card yet, as hordes of strange city Rogues appear.  Led by a figure some Thunderclanners recognize.  Thistleclaw.  But the rogues, no, the Bloodclanners, call him Tyrant.  Tigerstar boasts to the assembled clans how he killed Bluestar using the dogs and
Tyrant kills Tigerstar with a slash to the underbelly
Nine lives gone, in a single blow
The battle comes the next day, all four clans together – Longstar and Tallstar, Leopardstar and Blackstar.
Bone holds down Whitestorm, and is ripped of by a squad of apprentices, including his own, Brightheart.
Darkstripe goes after the Healers, and Graystripe strikes him down. His body is never found, and a gray tabby wanders desolate, his mistakes weighing on his soul.
Longstar strikes the final blow against Tyrant
And life goes on

is it just me or am i realizing how warrior cat women aren't allowed to hate. let me try to explain.
Squirrelflight isn't allowed to be written to hate Ashfur. in her novella, it's 'expected' for her to forgive and forget what Ashfur had done to her in the past (Squirrelflights novella is pre:TBC. so all Ashfur did was: Conspire to kill Firestar and threatened her and her kids lives.)
Hollyleaf also seems to have forgiven Ashfur in Starclan??? I don't...
Brightheart and Mistyfoot both aren't allowed to be angry at Bluestar. I believe later on both of them admire how great of a leader she was when she really wasn't-expecially towards Brightheart.
Blossomfall isn't allowed to hate her parents and this plotline is forgotten later on
Quiet Rain, Turtle Tail, and Any women in the Dawn of the Clan ARC, none of them are allowed to be mad. No one was mad at Clearsky.
Sorreltail towards Darkstripe (I forget the details of this.)
Twigbranch and Violetshine.
compare this to men
Dustpelt openly hates Ashfur
Cloudtail was furious at Bluestar
Jayfeather was angry at many things, including his disability *Which Cinderpelt, Briarlight and Brightheart didn't really....get?
Raggedstar was allowed to hate his father and later killed him.
Clearsky.

Rosebush!
Tumblr media
Design Notes:
Its pretty much the exact same as the last one, I just redrew her <3
Character Bio:
Rosebush
(Rosetail)
Lesbian; she/her
Age as of 1st arc's beginning: 8 cycles, 10 moons; ~52 Hyrs
Title meaning: -bush =  A sturdy cat, a cat you can depend on; is especially good at building; a cat who spends much of their time helping around camp and fixing dens
Caretaker of Thunder Order
Mentor: Tawnyspots
Mother: Poppydawn
Father: Windflight
Siblings: Sweet
Half Siblings: Dappledew; Thrushcloud
Kits (outsider sire): Redtail; Spottedleaf; Willowchime
Grandkits: Darkstripe; Sandstorm; Poppy; Flint; Graybelly; Sootfur; Rainwhisker; Sorreltail
Other notable kin: Downnose (niece); Cricketstep (nibling); Star Ravenscourge (nephew); Dustpelt (nephew)
Extra notes:
She defo has a secret outsider gf or something, she deserves a gf. If I wasnt attached to Snowstorm and Thistleclaw's fucked up relationship plot, Rose would have been Snow's mate.
Character Summary:
Rosebush is a sort of jack of all trades in the Caretaker role, she is very big and strong, she's one of the best builders in the Order, and she does a lot of the heavy lifting around the camp. She also is very loving and empathetic and loves caring for kits, elders and just anyone who needs some love and care. She's a big buff lady who loves and cares about everyone.
Rose is the mother of Redtail, Spottedleaf and Willowchime, she always wanted kits so she found an outsider to sire a litter! Its pretty sad that her kits had such short lives... at least Red and Willow are carried on through their children.
Rose is also in cahoots with Bluefrost and Thrushcloud about Thistleclaw's assassination. She doesn't join in herself, but she instead stays in camp with Spotted, she knew her daughter needed her.
Rose is one of Bluefrost's best friends, Blue, Snowstorm, Thrushcloud and Rosebush are/were a tight nit friend group, and were almost always spending time together. The deaths of Snow, then Rose and then Thrush is one of the biggest blows to Bluefrost's mental health.
Rosebush dies early in the first arc due to illness, though she lasts longer than in canon bec I think her death would be more impactful if her relationship with Bluefrost, her kits and the Order was established first.

[Image ID: A digital drawing of Rosetail from Warrior Cats. She is standing with her right side showing, she has a calm expression and a smile on her face. She is a big chubby tortoiseshell and white molly, she is mostly black, with pinkish-orange spotting on her back, tail and the top of her face, there are pink spots on her sides in heart and droplet shapes, there are also a black spot like this on her flank. The lower half and middle of her face is white, and this continues down her fluffy neck and stomach, her paws and tail tip are also white. Her eyes are a teal green color, her inner ears are pink, her nose is dark pink and her eyelashes are green like her eyes./End ID]

Please tell me you still have Fire permanently kill Darkstripe in BC though. That's one of the best parts.
WELL sorta. It's not going to be Firestar-- he's had enough badass cameos and someone else needs a turn.
I'm thinking it's Hawkfrost, actually
I want to turn him into a sort of... half-faded creature. Cheshire Cat of the Dark Forest. In the Great Battle he turned against Tigerstar and was mauled for it, but was able to get dragged back to the DF just in time.
But instead of respawning like the other DF spirits, when he double-died, it was partially permanent.
So he exists in this bizarre half-alive half-gone demon form, only existing for short periods of time. Enough to come save his apprentice Ivypool's daughter's mate, but not long enough to mount a resistance to the impostor.
And, importantly, enough to still enjoy the Dark Forest he had come to truly love, with its evil horses and blood-sap. A ghost among ghosts.

Kidnapped Firepaw AU
Following up the "Banished Fireheart AU" with this absolute gem.
Premise:
As Spottedleaf recounts the prophecy of fire to Bluestar, Tigerclaw lurks and listens, wholeheartedly believing in the words of Starclan like the UWU good pureblooded clan cat that he is.
Obviously he now needs to find himself a highlighter orange cat, he can't have the clan destroying itself before he ever even gets the chance to lead it after all, but where on earth is he supposed to find one when highlighter orange genetics aren't exactly common in the forest?.......
Enter Rusty, wondering the border of two-leg place all helpless and alone, itty bitty wittle barely apprentice aged kitty.
He's perfect, he simply HAS to join Thunderclan, the prophecised cat has gotta be him.
Besides, "rescuing" a kit from potential danger is the right thing for a noble warrior like Tigerclaw to do in this situation.
(Scourge? Never met her.)
Recruitment speeches and independent thought processes? What in Starclan's name are those?...
Tigerclaw could just carry this kit home right now if he wanted to.
So he does, he just stalks Rusty for a while, pops out of the bushes when the timing is right and straight up catnaps him.
Rusty is still the Rusty whom we all know and love, so he isn't THAT deeply upset about getting to live in the wild, but his little paws are rated E for everyone and he vows to make this entire experience as difficult for his kidnapper as possible.
Measures taken by Rusty to ruin Tigerclaw's life now include:
Acting more cynical and prickly than even Longtail on the daily
Ensuring that the cat assigned to escort him back home one final time as he says his last goodbyes to Smudge is Tigerclaw, the one cat who hates two-leg place more than Darkstripe
Cozying up to Bluestar (and later Yellowfang) when he knows damn well that Tigerclaw wants to be the adult in his life for some stupid reason
Making Ravenpaw his best friend as soon as organically possible because he also knows perfectly well that Tigerclaw will be forced to tolerate Ravenpaw if Firepaw takes a fancy to him
Ravenpaw: "Tigerclaw wants to kill me...."
Firepaw: "So that he can convince Bluestar to make me his apprentice instead?.... No thank you!"
Firepaw is a paw-length from convincing Bluestar to be his mentor, he will not be letting Tigerclaw ruin that for him.
The petty grudge continues into Fireheart's career as a warrior, prompting a neverending series of events seen as unfortunate only by Tigerclaw.
What do you mean his orange cat likes all of the remaining cats that he was planning on murdering?.... That was supposed to be HIS orange cat! Now how is he supposed to continue on his bloodthirsty quest for power?
Fireheart is best friends with Goldenflower now, she is his big sister, all of the adoration, attention and respect that Tigerclaw wishes he could get from Fireheart goes to Goldenflower
Bramblekit and Tawnykit are on the same level as Cloudkit, they are also his niece and nephew and he goes out of his way to hog nursery visitation
Longtail and Dustpelt are going to be Fireheart's friends now whether they like it or not, he is going to slowly squeeze their Tigerclaw love out of them like two-leg tooth paste and make them part of the 💥 Fireheart Squad 💥
Graystripe, Ravenflight(paw), and Sandstorm are already part of the 💥 Fireheart Squad 💥 and they help him bully Darkstripe

alright u know what. imma liveblog this reread.
first of all, what the fuck, it's been almost 3 years since i published rising storm. i don't like that. what was even HAPPENING three years ago.
im not reading the allegiances. brother ive lived them. i see them in my dreams. every time i look away, they spawn a new error. correcting them is my own personal Sisyphean Hell.
the prolugue tho...hell yes. lets go. bullet point time.
you know i think i could've gone easier on the swearing. do i really swear less now than i used to that i can notice that or. huh.
accidentally used he for brick. gonna shove my entire foot in my mouth brb.
bone and blackfoot are another two characters that i conflate a lot in my head, so i had to kinda work to make them different. it doesn't stop me from being surprised bone is actually quite eloquent/clever because i keep thinking of blackfoot instead.
gotta stop thinking of better dialogue. im tryna read ffs.
i do love brick terrorizing darkstripe. they're such a bully.
someone asked me about bonehill, well bonehill is scourge's now. though i feel like i should have added in a scene somewhere about the clan cats reacting to unburied corpses, cus i feel like the bonehill reveal loses some of the utter horror that i wanted to convey
shouldve said some shit about scourge's shadow. oh sysiphus, we're really in it now huh.
scourge reveal rips tho. love this freaky little muppet
brick dying to see shit go down is just me. but then shit actually happens and i get scared :(
i got wayy too caught up in reading god. scourge fucking rules.
brick and princess 😭😭😭😭

“Ey yo, who wants to hear me ramble about the distinct and not so distinct families that make up Thunderclan in TPB and how that affects how each character behaves” - Mudcastle
Me, that would me. Tell me what you got :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YES
There is a bunch to get into about how this works before I go into the characters themselves. Prepare for a long post under the cut:
Okay so TPB takes place after a really bad winter in Dark Mirror. Most of the families are, at best, fractured. So:
The highest family is currently Bluestar's, consisting of only herself, Whitestorm, and sometimes Brindleface (we'll get into that)
The next highest is Redtail's, consisting of himself, Spottedleaf, Sandstorm (Sandpaw at the time), Mousefur, and Runningwind (they're a combined family)
The third highest is Lionheart's, consisting of himself, Goldenflower, Cinderkit, Brackenkit, Thornkit, and Brightkit.
Tigerclaw counts as his own family.
Then there's everyone else.
Basic rules are: The position of the family tends to depend on the highest ranking members. Bluestar's family tops solely because she is leader. Red's family is next because Redtail is deputy and Spottedleaf is a medicine cat. Meaning that if your high ranking family member dies, your entire family's ranking drops to the next highest ranking member.
Seniority tends to get you a higher role after the highest positions are filled. Having a member live to become an elder, especially a respected one, is gold. Like Runningwind and Mousefur, who are the kits of One-eye (the oldest cat in Thunderclan) and Halftail.
If you don't have a respected elder in your family, your next best bet is skill (hence Tigerclaw being up there despite having no high ranking or senior members in his family). And having a higher member like say Lionheart train you is a really good way to get your foot into another family. Get the leader or deputy and you're pretty much on the path of greatness.
After that, numbers might help,
Families can accept outside members (namely stolen kits) and they can combine. They cannot separate if they are all related, this is purely for my sanity. Though sometimes you get weird positions like sort of the family's responsibility but not a part of them really (Brambleclaw).
HOWEVER, in the case of stolen kits, no family is required to take them in. They will have a surrogate and be raised up until 6 moons old, then once apprentices they can be considered their own family. This is rare because you generally want more members rather than less. The fire fam is a case where they are their own family.
Matehood tends to get a bit weird, since most cats want to marry up, but the cats up don't want to marry down so they can marry up and it's a whole thing. Most queens at this point just mate with rogues for the sake of my personal sanity. Not important in TPB because most cats are trying to form new families since so many were irreparably fractured.
Now let's start with the apprentices:
The firefam, consisting of Firepaw, Flamepaw, and Fawnpaw is in a weird place. Firepaw and Flamepaw are trained by Bluestar and Redtail (and later Tigerclaw) respectively, which immediately signals to the clan that one of them has a high chance of being chosen as deputy one day. However, they have no high ranking family members, so there's a range of ways they're treated. They were mostly raised by Brindleface, but their relationship is...really weird and sort of distant.
Graypaw, Darkstripe, and Willowpelt are one of, if not the lowest on the hierarchy. Willowpelt and Graypaw are honestly pretty chill with this. They're not inherently competitive cats. Darkstripe however rejects this and rubs elbows with Tigerclaw both because he admires him and because he's desperate to climb the social ladder. He also tries to be domineering but he sucks at it cause no one is impressed, just annoyed. And like in canon it's rather Graystripe who does so by being friends with the firefam.
Dustpaw and Ravenpaw lost their whole family. While Ravenpaw tries to make friends, Dustpaw seems intent on making enemies with every apprentice other than Sandpaw. Both Dustpaw and Ravenpaw are anxious characters, but while Ravenpaw tries to find comfort in companionship, Dustpaw tries to find it in domineering his peers. Bully before you can be bullied. He grows out of this eventually, but the damage to his reputation is harder to overcome.
Sandpaw is a bit snooty but otherwise unbothered, as she's in the comfortable position of having her father as deputy, aunt as medicine cat, and two respected elders as grandparents. Then they die, and her future's kinda fucked. She's then heavily pressured by her other dad to be the best of the best in order to retain whatever position their family can in preparation for when her grandparents die. She does eventually become Firestar's deputy and the best hunter in the clan, but poor girl has been s t r e s s e d much of her life.
Onto the warriors:
Tigerclaw obviously kills Redtail, Lionheart dies, you know how it goes. But his decision to court Goldenflower is in fact because, despite Lionheart's death, that family is still of noble standing because of her. And of course Goldenflower obliges, I mean he's a very respected warrior, easy on the eyes, and just look at the kits this guy has stolen (btw don't know if I've mentioned this but Tigerclaw was on the firefam theft patrol.). This combines them into one family for better or for worse. Which unfortunately makes Bramble and Tawny Tigerfam in the eyes of the clan even after exile.
The Lion family keeps a very consistent spot near the top throughout most of the series, even after Lion, Golden, and Cinderpelt die.
Longtail is his own family and does what Darkstripe does but is less cringe about it.
Brindleface... yeah I kinda accidentally made her really tragic. Brindle takes in the firefam cause she lost her kits to the cold. Soon after that Whitestorm and her break up. She's not really on board with caring for more kids so soon after the deaths but Bluestar doesn't really react well to being told no so it is what it is. She keeps them alive, but she's not their mom (but sort of is) and they don't acknowledge her as mom (but sort of do) it's a mess.
Later Whitestorm and her make up and they have more kits. Then she catches her totally-not-daughter trynna leave with her own kids and prompts her to leave the white one because he's not gonna survive the trip in that cold. And Brindle takes him in. She kind of does and doesn't support the clan's ways. Mostly she wants happiness in her family. And, if Fawntail decides that that means leaving, well...she won't stop her.
Cloud, Ash, and Fern have a bit of a weird relationship later on, in that he's firefam and they're not and he suddenly outranks them by a lot more when Whitestorm dies. but that's for a later time.
Dappletail's lineage dies out in that arc so I'm not too concerned with her.
Speckletail is Golden and Lion's mom
The rest of the elders have no family
And I think that's about it for everyone. Correct me if I'm wrong. Send asks as needed

Do you have any headcanons about Redtail exclusively?
You can find some more headcanons about Redtail here. But stuff just about him and no repeats...
Redtail had a fear of death. While he was a brave warrior, he always felt chills before battle that he masked. He'd knead his tail in private to settle his fears. Though he knew dying was a great honor for a Warrior, it never quite sat right in the same way for Redtail.
During A Light in the Mist when Redtail seems relieved to "be home" as he gazes across the meadow, alongside Onestar. While Onestar lived and died in the Lake Territories, Redtail thinks of his time running alongside his mate, Runningwind. The quick-foot tom had always preferred the open space to flex his skills, and the memory soothes Redtail.
Redpaw, albeit perhaps a bit naive, had hoped to mentor Stonekit. He greatly admired Bluefur, and it showed through his loyalty to her, as well as in how he was chosen as her deputy. When Bluefur's kits disappeared, he was one of the first to volunteer to look for them. He had to stay in the medicine den and be tended to by Spottedpaw when he risked freezing his paws off with his relentless work.
Redtail's personality was that of someone sharp and clever, perhaps even a bit cunning. While he never challenged Bluestar, he had his way of doing things and was willing to bend the rules if he saw it as for the greater good. He always put ThunderClan first, and by that many would say he was a fierce individualist. He never sought conflict unnecessarily, however he also did not turn away from it. His judgement balanced maintaining ThunderClan's reputation and respect, with genuine kindness for the forest territories and the code as a whole.
He's smaller in size, and always preferred hunting to fighting. His nimble frame made scaling trees easy, and he brushed up on his speed with help from his mate Runningwind. It was a stark contrast to Tigerclaw's preference for fighting and his large and heavy stature.
He mentored Dappletail's kit, Cricketstorm, who sadly died young due to the famine. This was what allowed him to be eligible to be deputy.
When he received Dustpaw as an apprentice, Redtail saw a lot of Tigerpaw in him - noticing how they both strove to prove themselves out of a consciousness for their background. He took extra care to instill honor and kindness in the tom before he died, which still prevailed in Dustpaw despite Darkstripe's influence later. Redtail was the closest to a father figure Dustpaw had.
His sister Spottedleaf had to practically force him into her den, as he always refused treatment, at least waiting until everyone else had it. His dark fur with red patches made it easy to mask blood and wounds, much to Spottedleaf's annoyance.
He was terrible about taking his traveling and battle herbs. He couldn't keep a good poker face, always curling his lip with disgust at the bitterness. Whitestorm always teased him for this.
