Constantine loves you, he hates to think that you have some power over him minimal or not he's still not very cool about it so he pushes you around, manipulates you basically is an asshole and when you try to leave he's gonna promise to be better but the cycle starts again. Babes he's gonna ultraviolence you to a level where it's just impossible. He loves you but he hates it that his dumb little bunny has any power over him.
Anyways that's just what me thinks. Hehe.
I'VE BEEN WAITITINGNGNG TO TALK ABOUT THISSS— i dunno if you've heard of the song "carly doesn't know why" by telan devik... but it's so constantine coded i fear.
content. toxic relationship. soft!dark!constantine territory.
he like... loves you loves you— that's the worst part. he's almost disgusted with how infatuated he is with you. that man is sickeningly in love with you. even when you argue almost every night, when you cry and break his things, when he disappears for days on end; essentially ghosting you, and even when you've threatened to leave him multiple times.
"i hate you," you mumble into his chest, your tears soaking his shirt. constantine's large arms wrap around you, pulling you closer into his cold embrace. "you're so awful."
you lean your head back. your vision is blurred as constantine cups your face in his hands, his thumbs wiping away any stray tears from your face. his focus shifting between your doe eyes and your pretty lips, he sighs, "i know, doll."
he's such a control freak, and he hates that you have this hold on him. granted, he treats you like shit majority of the time, but he'd wring the neck of anyone else who even tried to behave nasty to you. he wants— no, he needs to have the upperhand, always. he keeps your head spinning and your heart aching; so hot and cold, loving and cruel. you can't even keep up anymore.

Do you still do requests?
Can you please do Wednesday Addams X reader who has abilities, powers, and a backstory similar to John Constantine? Thank you.
Black Rum
Tumblr media
A little short and sweet.
Nevermore really didn’t change much after the attack, and overall some things never truly did change. But what did was the relationship between (Y/n) and Wednesday, she was cold and standoffish towards him in the beginning. Slowly he melted her icy demeanor and made himself home in her heart. Whether she wanted to admit it or not; she loved him. While continuing their studies, the two participate in… extracurricular activities together.
(Y/n) stood in an old Church, dark magic swirling around him as a magic pentagram was drawn around him. He stood calmly in the tornado of darkness as from that black mist, a demon made purely of shadows reaches out, calling his name with his ethereal voice. “(Y/n)… your soul, is mine…” the ethereal voice called out to him, its arm elongated and askew of humanity. Its bony fingers ready to tear his soul apart.
“Any time now love..” he grumbled, ready for a fight to the death. Standing upon the scaffolding of the interior. Wednesday drew an arrow, dipped in Silver. Her eye focused on the demon, ready to reveal itself. Its body began to open up like a cage of bones, darkness emitting like smoke. What was there was a black heart, beating so callously.
“Dammit Wednesday..” was his final thoughts, until the arrow let loose. It flew though the air and it struck true. Nailing the monster right in the heart, Wednesday began to descend the scaffolding, the beast reels in pain. Screaming as the silver sears his heart and thematically seals him to this world temporarily. The monster collapsed down, writhing in pain. (Y/n) sighs with relief, as the monster spirals in pain. Wednesday stands next to (Y/n) as they look over the monsters body.
“I..I will have my revenge!” It calls out, (Y/n) raises his hand.
“Sure lad, you try that, back to where you came from.” He said, the monster growls.
“W-wait! Fine, perhaps we can, strike a bargain?” He said.. (Y/n) scoffs and shook his head.
“Heard that Wednesday?” He said.
“A god begging for mercy.. pitiful.” She said, the demon reaches out but (Y/n) raised his hands to seal his spell.
“Attiuaiasis Qutendo Beneesta Sulpus Accuule!” He chanted, the spell holding the demon in this world was shattered. And once more he was dragged back to the pits of hell. The two stand there and (Y/n) kicks some of the salt, breaking the spell circle and putting an end to it all. Their peace was interrupted by a priest slowly opening the door, he peers in to see the two standing there. (Y/n) casually motions the priest to follow, the middle aged man looked around to see books everywhere, paper, and the unnerving sense of evil.
“Alright Bishop, your Church is free of the vicar curse.” He said, The priest blesses them.
“May god bless you both a thousand times over. We had no way to deal with this dark energy alone.” He explains, and Wednesday wasn’t the one for chit chat.
“We take our payment in cash and check.” She said flatly. (Y/n) glares at her, before the priest nods and hands them said check.
“Of course, like the Bible says; ‘You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain,’ and, ‘The laborer deserves his wages.’” He said, Wednesday takes it and departs, (Y/n) sighs and shakes the priests hand.
“If you require any other services or know anyone who does, give us a ring.” He said and catches up to Wednesday. She looks at the check but it’s suddenly pulled away from her and flies back, she watches it fall into the hand of (Y/n). The two begin to walk together along a barren plain like trail.
“You could at least say goodbye to the old man.” He says.
“Why?”
“Because we’re in Kansas and I highly doubt we’ll come back. Plus clientele.”
“I don’t see the point of pleasantries, we came to do a job, simple as that.” She says, (Y/n) shakes his head and they reach a building, but they didn’t need the building just the wall. Reaching into his pocket the reveals chalk, he draws a door on it.
“Point is love, we want this “Black Rum: Occult Detectives” thing to work out, we have to actually be like able.. well I have to be. You just be cute dark and broody.” He said, he then turns to the chalk drawing and spoke. “Ecrumis Queeyela Various.” He then blangs on the wall and it crumbled and behind the chalk outline was a door. (Y/n) walks on as Wednesday grumbles “I’m not Broody.” She said, they walk in and suddenly appear back at Nevermores Quad, (Y/n) closes the door and it crumbed to dust.
“So, why don’t we cash this in and ..Spend some quality time together?” He said raising an eyebrow.
“Fine, I suppose your company wouldn’t be an entire bore.” She walks off as the Magician follows. Chucking to himself.

REVIEWS OF THE WEEK!
EVERY WEEK I WILL POST VARIOUS REVIEWS I’VE WRITTEN SO FAR IN 2024. YOU CAN CHECK OUT MY GOODREADS FOR MORE UP-TO-DATE REVIEWS HERE.
___
76. Legacy by Nora Roberts--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
There's truly something magical about reading a Nora Roberts novel--they're fun, sometimes simple, and a great way to pass the time. I'm starting to notice the formula to her romantic suspense novels, but you know what? I will devour them every time.
LEGACY was a good read with some sweet characters and a really creepy serial killer stalking women and hunting them. This is one thing I think Roberts is a little too good at--creating those creepy evil people stalking and threatening to kill the MC.
I loved the dogs in this and how everything came together at the end. I'm glad I was able to give this one a shot!
Will hopefully read more of her books in March!
___
77. Love Me Today by A.L. Jackson--⭐⭐️⭐️⭐️
I started LOVE ME TODAY because I have found myself craving more romantic suspense and this one fed that craving pretty well. It had the romance, the smut, the mysterious murderer haunting one of the MCs, and the incredibly adorable kid. Also, the single parent trope? Yes, please.
LOVE ME TODAY wasn't anything mind blowing, but it was such a satisfying read. The FMC was someone who wore her heart on her sleeve and was so pure (not in a gross way, just in a "I will love you no matter what" way), that her personality on the page felt very wholesome. She was a great foil for the MMC, who was the epitome of dark, broody, and jaded.
While I did enjoy their romance and their interactions with the tiny human, I thought the nickname the MMC had for the FMC could have been...better, or at least not repeated as much LOL. The spicy scenes were sometimes cringe because of the repetitive use of the nickname.
Really, really enjoyed the murderer reveal. Also, now I want to read the next one in the series because it's another trope I love.
___
78. Villain and the Geek by L.C. Davis--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
That ending and the fact that the next one doesn't have a release date yet? Ahhhhh!
These are short, emotional, smutty, and addicting books. I devoured the first series near the end of the year last year and was thrilled to see that this one was coming out so soon after I finished book 1 in the sequel series. I want more! I want to get some answers and I want to see Constantine spoil the hell out of Devon because he deserves that.
I'm not going to lie, I love the whole emotional aspect of this book. It's like a punch to the heart to see how Constantine treats Devon, knowing it's going to bite him in the ass.
I need more and I'm sad the next book is supposedly the final instalment in their story.
___
79. The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Incredible. Absolutely incredible.
I don't know what I was expecting from THE BOOK OF DOORS, but it wasn't the twisty way everything connected. Or the way the characters were written and grew so much with the story. Brown absolutely killed it with this book and I definitely want to keep an eye out for his next books now.
THE BOOK OF DOORS is a book about magic, yes, but also about love, family, friendships, and grief--the power of letting go and how sometimes, even if we have the power to change things, it's sometimes best to leave things as they are because of their impact on us. Brown's book had so much more depth than I was expecting and I'm here still recovering from it all.
The amount of times I was left with my mouth open because of a revelation, or a turn in the storyline? Phew.
I highly recommend this one, even if the friend of the FMC was annoying LOL. She grew, too, as a character, but man I wanted to slap some sense into her LOL.
Definitely add this to your TBR! You may or may not want to cry a couple of times, too.
___
80. Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
FANGIRL DOWN is the first book I've read by Tessa Bailey in a long time and I have to say, I'm both surprised and impressed! I think this is going to be the perfect summer read for anyone looking for a light, quick, and sexy summer read.
The dynamic between the two characters worked fantastically and their communication level was *chef's kiss*. I also appreciated the inclusion of a main character with diabetes. Although I don't have diabetes myself, it was great seeing that representation in a romance novel.
The FMC was a badass, even if she was sometimes stubborn to the point of it being a bit frustrating. I loved how she handled the people around her in her new famous role. I extra loved that any simple issues surrounding that world didn't become any main issues in the book. I liked that Bailey focused on the couple and their growths as people.
I know nothing about golf, so it was interesting reading about a romance that featured it--it was strangely refreshing that it wasn't another hockey, or football romance.
I do recommend this one, if not for the great characters, then for the smutty good times.
___
81. Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'll admit that it took me a bit to get back into this universe with DEAD IN THE FAMILY. I think because a lot seemingly happened between the last book and this one. I'm sure there are short stories and novellas, but I didn't read them so jumping into this one was like jumping into a deep end I didn't even know was there.
But when I finally DID get back into this, I actually found myself really enjoying it. Sookie is growing super jaded as she gets older and I'm actually enjoying that because it's more realistic. There's a scene where a character comments that the Sookie from a year ago would drink something without a second thought and now she's all worried. I like this because Sookie has seem some Shit.
I also really liked this one because it dealt a lot with grief and familial connections. ALTHOUGH, this is also creepy af with some of the themes and one new character. That made me incredibly uncomfortable.
___
Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts?
___
Happy reading!

ohh tell me about the Titans AU where Grayson has to fight Rachel's demonic presence???? INTRIGUE
Tumblr media
OOOOOOKAY I hope you knew you were about to unleash a dragon when you typed this out because I have A LOT TO SAY AND GIFS TO BACK IT UP
Some of it you probably already know because I can't seem to shut up about this particular episode and I know I've made a post about this a while back but TO RECAP: (Beware of spoilers)
Episode 4x10. Two episodes earlier it has been revealed that Rachel and the season's big bad Sebastian (who also happens to be her half brother) share a physical connection - when one gets hurt, the other gets hurt the same way. To quote Dick: "he cut you with a knife and he bled the same way". Dick and Kory make a decision to bench Rachel to protect her, which she isn't too happy about. So Dick makes a call to a friend from London who knows a little something about magic stuff (the person is never named but DC fans might connect the description to John Constantine) and brings Rachel a possible solution to the connection thing - black magic ritual that is supposed to give the "inner evil" a physical form so it can be killed. They meet with a witch who guides them through the ritual, explains that once the evil takes form, Rachel will be left defenseless because the monster will be draining her energy until Dick kills it. If he fails, she dies. The witch also gives Dick a blade - or rather just a hilt of it and explains that the blade will be formed by magic from his love for Rachel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The evil takes the form of a monster, which is basically a zombie version of Sebastian and it looks like this:
Tumblr media
And Dick spends the rest of the episode chasing it around trying to kill it because he's struggling with getting the blade to work (my man was overthinking it too much instead of letting his feelings guide him but he's a rookie when it comes to magic so I forgive him) and only managed to do it when the monster took Rachel as his direct target
Tumblr media
Dick kills the monster, Rachel gets back her life force, the connection is broken. Ritual complete.
What I want to do is make it more angsty. Because sure, running around fighting a zombie was a fun idea for the episode but it wasn't the best. I can agree it works with the logistics of Rachel and Sebastian's connection - the part of Sebastian in her that's creating it will take his physical form - but I love the idea of it becoming more personal to both Dick and Rachel, therefore harder.
You've seen season 1 so you know that in the beginning Rachel had this demonic reflection who always taunted her and tried to make her do bad things, a darkness that took over sometimes.
Tumblr media
As Rachel's powers evolved through the show, that part of her disappeared and I want to bring it back. I want the inner evil to take her form during the ritual. I want to put that magic blade in Dick's hand and have him realize that the monster he has to slay to save his little girl is his little girl herself, her own darkness she had to fight her entire life until he taught her how to accept it.
There will obviously be no fight. Because Dick won't be able to fight her. Not when she's standing in front of him with this baby face, striped shirt and blue highlights in her dark hair, the little kid he met in Detroit. He'll be standing there, frozen, while Demon!Rachel does what she does best - taunting, teasing, spitting venom and digging into his head, throwing all his greatest hits right into his face, all the while real Rachel is laying there on the floor, her life force fading away.
And I am ripping my hair out just thinking about it

This time, Vasiliki went to smoke on the rooftop of the Facility. It was a long walk from his ward on the first floor, but it was worth it to not run into Constantine before he was ready to talk to the man.
However, like clockwork, Constantine was already there, smoking away, on the rooftop. Vasiliki would’ve been annoyed with his friend’s insistence on meeting with him had he not needed to talk to Constantine.
“Funny seeing you here,” Constantine said with a smile once he saw Vasiliki. “How are you, Vasil?”
“You did a good job training the kid,” Vasiliki started, lying through his teeth. “I’ve decided to keep him for my lab. He’ll stay there. I have room for my subjects. You know how it is.”
Constantine nodded with a satisfied hum. “He is a good kid. Very well-behaved. You’ll enjoy having him in your lab, I’m sure. Are they going to let you keep him or will you have to pay?”
Constantine offered Vasiliki his lighter. Vasiliki quickly accepted and lit his cigarette. Again, the nicotine hit and made him relax a bit. He was replacing his sleep with cigarettes at this point.
“I’m going to have to do an appeal to keep him for my research. You know how the higher ups are these days.”
Constantine laughed a little. “Completely anal about research, yeah.”
“Well, we are under international scrutiny for the way we’re acting. I understand their position.”
“I wish other countries saw the evils of the dark arts.” Constantine flicked his cigarette. “We make them useful this way, prevent them from ruining everything. Eventually, we’ll be able to get rid of their magic and get rid of evil.”
Vasiliki sighed, taking a long drag. “It’ll be one hundred years of us working here next month, right?”
Constantine smiled and nodded. “I hear they’re planning some sort of celebration for us.”
“That’ll be fun,” Vasiliki said with disdain.
“You never were the party type. I bet in college that you stayed in your dormitory the entire time.”
Vasiliki genuinely laughed at that. “I did. I was studying. Do you know what it takes to have two professional degrees?”
Constantine laughed. “Being a total shut-in.”
The two of them laughed. Sometimes, Constantine was good company, when he wasn’t on about how happy he was to be torturing his subjects. Though, perhaps what Vasiliki did also qualified as torture. He was a scientist, but what he did to his subjects wasn’t entirely painless, even if he tried to make it so.
“I have a few new wards,” Constantine started. “They’re a lot less well-behaved than Akakios was.”
Vasiliki zoned out and nodded when he was supposed to, making it seem like he was listening. Eventually, his cigarette was done and he excused himself to his office.
Akakios couldn’t remember anything after the doctor had hooked up the infusion and given him that pill. After the stitches.
The thought made Akakios shiver.
When Akakios “came to,” his nasal cannula was gone. The machine that was monitoring his heart was beeping. He didn’t feel a need to cough. The pain was there, but it was significantly dulled. When he looked at the bag on his IV, he recognized it as regular saline. The infusions of whatever the hell the doctor had given him were done.
“You look a little startled, there, Akakios.” It was the doctor. “Did the ketamine finally wear off?”
Akakios didn’t know what ketamine was but he assumed that it was whatever the doctor gave him that left him with nothing but a vague sense of terror. His head felt… clearer. Less full of cotton and fog that made it hard to think. Was that the effect of the medicine?
Those thoughts that he was better off dead seemed more unfounded than before. He remembered Asimi’s words. He would get through this and be free one day, wouldn’t he? It seemed like foolish hope. Maybe it was. But, if Asimi said it, it had to be true. Asimi didn’t lie to him. After all, they’d been together since Akakios was a child. They’d taken care of him whenever others didn’t.
Including with Constantine.
“I think so, sir.”
The doctor smiled a little, his green eyes glittering with a kind malice that sent shivers down Akakios’ spine.
“Ketamine has a habit of making people forget everything while they’re on it, but you’ll find that it helps control suicidal thoughts much faster, while the other medication has a chance to work. If those thoughts come back, I trust that you’ll be honest and tell me?”
“Yes, sir.”
Akakios didn’t know if he would actually tell the doctor. He was feeling much better, yes - physically and mentally. But that didn’t mean that the doctor had his best interests in mind.
In fact, what the doctor said next threw any sense of trust into question.
“Akakios, I’ve decided to keep you.”
The doctor pulled a rolling stool up next to Akakios’ bed, watching him carefully. Akakios felt a sudden sense of dread. Did the doctor expect him to act like he did with Constantine? Would the doctor treat him the same way?
“I have clearance from my higher-ups and I’ve signed the paperwork. You’re my property now.” The doctor swallowed. “I wanted to set some ground rules so you know what to expect. Constantine mentioned to me that you’re an anxious depressive.”
What, were the doctor and Constantine friends? The thought made Akakios feel sick. In fact, he found himself hiccuping, about to retch. God, would he rape Akakios like Constantine did? Every day for weeks on end?
The doctor recognized the signs immediately and hurried to bring a trash bin to Akakios, moving the head of his bed up. Akakios began to cry as he emptied his stomach contents into the trash bin before he could cry out at the pain in his ribs. He vomited not once, not twice, but three times, all bile. He had nothing in his stomach. All his nutrition had been through his IV line.
Panic soon took over. He couldn’t think. That terror he felt during the “ketamine” came back. “Please, sir, don’t hurt me.”
The doctor went quiet, considering Akakios for a long time. For so long in fact that the anxiety made Akakios vomit a fourth time.
“I’ll get you some antacid for your throat.”
It didn’t take long for the doctor to locate the antacid and to give it to Akakios. Akakios obediently chewed the candy-flavored antacid and swallowed it.
“This is the reason I wanted to set some ground rules before I have you moved.” The doctor sighed, pressing his nose. “Okay, first, you’re going to be in a lab. I don’t have interest in personal companions that aren’t there consensually. So, you won’t be doing anything sexual for me. Okay? Take that off your mind.”
Akakios felt a deep panic in his chest, just at the mention of having to do any sexual favors. He felt no relief at the promise of not having to. Partially because he thought it was a lie to gain his trust. He remembered all too well the first time that Constantine did that to him. God, he would do anything to not have to do that again.
“I know you’re afraid and you have every right to be. What I’m going to do… not all of it is going to be pleasant. You’re a research subject now, not a slave. I can’t guarantee it’ll be a painless existence, but I’ll do my best to make it as humane as possible.”
Akakios wanted to cry out for his mother. He wanted to cry out for Asimi. Someone, anyone to come save him from this miserable existence. Maybe he would get through it, but he was going to come out the other side a different person.
What was he supposed to say? Was he supposed to be happy?
He’d realized his mistake. He’d told the doctor that he was suicidal. That was why he was strapped down to the bed. That was why he had no means to the end. Suddenly, the thoughts were back. This time he wouldn’t tell the doctor. He’d let the doctor think that the medicine was working. He’d take the medicine every day and once he was transferred, figure out how to end it all.
“So, there are a few things. In front of other people, you’ll have to call me ‘master.’ That’s just to keep up appearances. Once we’re alone, you can call me Vasiliki.”
“Vasiliki,” Akakios echoed. Constantine had mentioned that name.
His stomach ached at the thought of Constantine.
“Yes. Just like that.” The doctor took a breath. “I’m starting to understand from reading your file that you were never much of a fighter and most of what was done to you was for Constantine’s sadistic pleasure.”
Akakios nodded frantically. He wouldn’t fight. He wouldn’t fight. He’d never fight back again.
“Okay. Then, I’ll leave you unrestrained when I’m not there. You’ve fought off that infection. Your blood cell counts are normal again. So, we’ll transition you from IV fluids and nutrition to oral fluids and nutrition. But that won’t be here.”
Akakios looked at Vasiliki suddenly. It was all happening too quickly. Everything was moving too quickly and he had no control, no say. God, what had his life become? Why was this happening to him?
“Ill have the nurses come unhook you from your IV and heart monitor. Then, I’ll bring you a meal. If you can tolerate eating something solid, I’ll move you to the lab as soon as possible. If not, I’ll put you on the step-down unit. You’ll find the lab more comfortable. We try to give you real living arrangements. We find… that it helps experimentation.”
Why did Akakios want to die? Why did he want to cry? This was the best he was going to get, right? What did real living arrangements mean?
“Last thing, Akakios. I’m not comfortable with having my subjects unrestrained around me until they’ve proven that they won’t fight me. In your case, you have a devil inside you. I don’t want you to switch to the devil and attack me. So, someone will come and restrain you to a bed like you are here or to a chair until we trust each other. Okay?”
What the hell was Akakios supposed to say to that? At least, if he wasn’t restrained, he would be able to find a means to an end. Maybe the room would be full of pills like this one. That wouldn’t be a bad way to go.
“Akakios, you’ve been off the codeine for 24 hours. Do you want to try morphine for your pain?”
Akakios was a little taken aback by the question. He hadn’t responded. He should be on the ground being beaten.
“Yes, sir.”
He thought that it would make Vasiliki happy if he accepted. Vasiliki did seem happy, so maybe he’d made the right choice.
As the doctor went and got a needleless syringe and screwed it into the IV line along with two flushes, Akakios felt the pain melt away into a sleepy bliss.
“Thank you, sir.”
“Not sir. Vasiliki or Master.”
Akakios hesitated. “Thank you, Vasiliki.”
Vasiliki smiled, but Akakios’ eyelids were heavy.
Maybe, just maybe, he’d get to sleep and see Asimi again.
Maybe.

King Breaker (A Drabble Me This Story)
Series: Drabble Me This
Fandom: The Royal Romance
Pairings for series: Riley x Liam
Rating: MA
Warnings for this chapter: Mature Themes, Character Death, Revolution/War
Word Count: 1,479 (once again I broke the word count limit, but this story demanded it.)
A/N: Thanks @dcbbw and @harleybeaumont for listening to me excitedly ramble about this story. Thanks to @21-wishes for the ask and for pre-reading.
A/N 2: So, @21-wishes sent me this ask and my first idea was something technically treasonous but not horrible and maybe even a little funny. But then she sent me the photo you see below and everything changed. This photo launched a whole thing in my head.
My other stuff: Master List.
Tumblr media
@21-wishes
Ask: Liam x Riley. Riley has committed high treason and everyone knows it (so no sweeping it under the rug). Liam still loves her.
Riley knelt on the cold tile floor in front of the newly minted king of Cordonia.
He held a blade to her throat.
She stared up at him, her eyes full of defiance, anger, and challenge. “Do it!”
“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t!” His voice was cold, harsh, angry.
Please. Make it make sense. I don’t want to do this!
The memory of her on her knees in front him in other circumstances swirled through his mind. She had gazed up at him with a completely different expression on her face then.
How had he been so easily deceived? He had truly believed she loved him back. The diamond on her left hand was proof of that.
“Do you need me to do your thinking for you, Your Majesty?” Her tone was contemptuous, “You’re the king. You have all the power here.”
“You killed my father, Riley! Or you were at least complicit in his death!”
Was Riley Brooks even her real name? Had he ever known her at all?
Liam was shaking, but Riley was calm as she replied, “Your father was an evil man. He did awful things to people. You were just insulated from it. Until the night he tried to rape me, and you stopped him. But even then, you wouldn’t go public with his crimes.”
“It would have weakened the monarchy!”
“That’s why the monarchy needs to end, Liam!”
“But I’m not my father! I want to change things! I will be a good king!”
“Maybe. But your reign will be built on atrocities that you were complicit in covering up!”
“I’ll grant you that my father may have earned his death. But what about the rest of us? Drake? My brother? Were you going to murder Leo?”
“Drake getting shot was an unfortunate accident. I didn’t mean for that to happen. Leo abdicated, he’s not a target. Now that Constantine is gone, there’s just you.”
“Why aren’t I dead then?” He asked bitterly. She’d certainly had plenty of opportunities. How many nights had he lain next to her, naked, sleeping, helpless? She could have slit his throat months ago.
The anger and defiance in her eyes were momentarily replaced by regret. But what, exactly did she regret? That she hadn’t killed him?
Riley gazed down at the sleeping form of the man next to her. The moonlight filtered through window bathing him in a soft glow, the shock of dark hair, his eyelashes as they fluttered in his sleep. The strong jawline, his bare chest against the dark maroon of the Egyptian cotton sheets.
She had her orders, she understood her objective, she believed in her cause. The monarchy was evil, and it must be stopped, at any cost. Her hand fisted around the hilt of the freshly sharpened stiletto, grasping it hard enough to bruise her palm.
She watched the rise and fall of his chest. She watched his body twitch in his sleep and a smile wash across his sleeping face as he murmured her name.
She carefully replaced the dagger in the drawer of the bedside table. She would have to come up with a plausible reason for failing in her mission. Again.
She curled her body around his and sighed as he reached for her in his sleep, his arms going instinctively around her.
“I couldn’t do it.” She answered, “I love you.”
He scoffed loudly. Right. She loved him. That’s why she had infiltrated the social season and ingratiated herself with him. That was why she had cleared the path to him by blackmailing Olivia and setting Madeleine up, that was why she had passed the palace security codes to her compatriots in The Liberation Core, a terrorist organization hell bent on destroying the monarchy.
She was the reason his father was dead, she was the reason his best friend had been shot, she was the reason The Core had gotten a foothold in Cordonia, she was the reason a civil war was now raging.
Even if he could forgive her for all of it, her role in everything had been exposed, there was no covering it up, no salvaging anything from the wreckage.
She was a traitor. She had committed high treason. Her execution was his responsibility, his duty.
Tears pooled in the corners of his eyes as he pushed the blade deeper into her previously unmarred flesh. Red blossomed from the wound and started to trickle, then run down her chest.
He took a deep, shaky breath as he stepped away. The blade clattered to the floor, well within her reach. “I can’t!” He sobbed out.
She didn’t lunge for the knife. She stayed on her knees, her eyes trained on him as unreadable emotions shifted behind them.
“Pick it up!” He yelled at her, gesturing to the dagger, “Do what you came here to do!”
He held his hands out away from his body as he told her softly, “I won’t even fight you.”
What difference did it make anyway? One of them was going to die. Who depended only on who won the battle that was currently raging through the palace. His kingdom was in ruins, the palace was literally on fire. The moment he left the throne room, he would be set on by members of The Core that had breached the capital.
The only solace he had was that Drake had taken some time off to recuperate from his wounds. He was in Texas visiting family. Both he and Leo were safely on the other side of the ocean.
Riley picked up the fallen blade and rose slowly to her feet. She laid the cool metal against Liam’s neck, the spine side of the knife flat against his jugular, “If I wanted to kill you my king, I could have done it any night for the last four months.”
She leaned her body into his, her lips inches away from his, the softness of her breasts pushed into the hardness of his chest, “I couldn’t kill you, Liam, because I love you. I don’t expect you to believe me, I don’t expect you to forgive me, and I sure as hell didn’t expect you to let me live. But maybe…is it possible? You still love me?”
The blade clattered to the floor once again as she placed a hand on either side of his face, went up on her tiptoes, and pulled his head down, into a heated kiss.
He tried to fight against it, but his hands went around her waist, jerking her closer as he deepened the kiss. For a moment he let himself get lost in her, like he always had.
Then the memory of his father’s broken body on the ground intruded and he shoved her away, “It doesn’t matter if you do it by your own hand or not! You’ve still killed me! If your friends come through that door, I’m getting dragged out in the streets and publicly executed!”
“For what it’s worth, I hope your blue coats defeat The Core.” She turned away from him, wiping at her eyes. He would never understand the reasons she had joined The Core. The promises they had made about a better future, the lure of vengeance against the crown for the atrocities Constantine had inflicted on his own people.
“Why?” He asked incredulously. “This is everything you’ve spent the last six months working for!”
“So you can live.” She shrugged, “I’m dead either way.”
“What do you mean?” He hated himself a little for the way his heart jumped in his chest at the thought of her in danger. Even after finding out she was a traitor that had used him to overthrow his own father. “You were instrumental in this little insurrection. They probably want to award you a medal or something.”
She shook her head, he still didn’t get it, “I’ve gone from their darling to first place on their kill on sight list.”
“But why?”
“Why? I failed my mission, Liam! You’re still alive and I ran out of believable excuses a long time ago!”
“Riley-“ He reached out for her.
There was a pounding on the door. On the other side was either his salvation or his damnation. He had a fifty-fifty shot at living. She didn’t.
He grabbed her by the hand, “Come on!” He dragged her onto the dais and behind the throne.
“What are you doing?” She asked, but she didn’t resist. She was done resisting. He would forgive her or he would kill her and she was ready to face her fate either way.
“Saving your life.” He replied as a previously hidden panel in the wall behind the throne slid open.
He pulled her through and the panel slid shut behind them just as the door burst open and men poured into the empty throne room.

This episode was an interesting one... Something was missing for me and idk what. It could be the zero dickkory which is actually fine in a way because I got it substituted with some Kory and Gar scenes which made me so frickin' happy.
It was also sweet that Dick was with one kid for the episode and Kory was with their other kid. I appreciated it.
But, let's bullet point my thoughts:
Sebastian is such a little bitch. Like are you evil or not, make up your mind, man. You're annoying af. However, I enjoyed May burning as gruesome as that may sound. She irritates the fuck outta me but I somehow also don't think she is gone? Idk, no one stays dead on this show so it's hard to call. It is funny that she calls out Sebastian for being a little bitch though hehehe.
Conner is... questionable. I just can't tell what tf he is doing. Like, I get he is trying to outsmart Sebastian but it's like bro why you think you gotta do it on your own, GOD. But, he wasn't as much of a douche this time round so I'm liking him more again XD. Though, when Dick was like 'Looks like the new CEO is on our side' I was like Dick, stfu you're gonna jinx shit and I still wouldn't be too sure in that either.
When Dick was all I have to make a long distance call, Idk why I thought he meant Jinx and I was like whut. Then after he mentioned dark magic, I was like ohhh. I'm assuming Constantine since black magic and British. XD Interesting that Constantine has been mentioned a few times now. I like it.
Guys... guys.... THE FUCKING KORY AND GAR SCENES WERE KILLING ME. I honestly love them. They are the best duo in the show, idgaf. They're both sunshine characters. (Unless Kory is on a bad day but overall.) They give me such life. Kory and Gar are my favourite characters as it is when it comes to Titans whether it be the show or the comics or the animated show like them two are just my absolute gems.
LMAO Kory punching Vic as soon as she walks in had me howling. I love how her kneejerk reaction is PUNCH to most situations. XD
I was sad that there was literally no dickkory in this episode considering we've now got two episodes left so Dick best be starting to lose his shit in the next one which I imagine will be more action packed. Also, I think that's actually more because I felt there was a lot for dick and kory in ep 8 and where there was an episode without them at all and then this week, that's likely why it feels more prominent but...
I didn't feel like this ep was very action packed like I know stuff happened and it wasn't filler but it felt weirdly slow for me? Idk if that makes sense. Idk. I don't feel the 'danger' aspect with this episode is all...
Anywho! It was so good to have Vic, Larry and Cliff in this episode! I wish there could have been more episodes to have like a whole episode just with them cos ugh, they're great. The tennis scene made me smile and it was a good vibe, despite them being trapped.
Vic's little heart eyes at Kory had me grinning like I wasn't imagining that shit, right? It was flirty and cute. This woman just attracts everyone to her. XD
Dick and Rachel's whole thing was... interesting? I guess? Idk, I got the point of it to separate Rachel from Sebastian but Idk. Dick was literally just running round the building with a not knife XD.
Also, it has to be said. The demon dude or whatever the came outta Rachel... lmao... he looked like something out of the original Evil Dead movies like he was a bit goofy, I couldn't help but giggle when I saw him XD.
I felt for poor Timmy with Bernard and I knew Bernard was gonna fucking download the game. I just knew it! Probs for research purposes obvs but I was still like god damn it man.
I think that's all the thoughts I had this week. The highlight through and through was Kory and Gar. I know a lot of people love the Dick and Rachel scenes but I think we've had so much of that in the earlier seasons whereas Kory and Gar scenes feel so far and in between. Maybe that's just me but I think they've defo shined the light on Dick and Rachel more in the past so it was good to see Gar and Kory actually talking and interacting. But again, it's likely me being bias. I've always preferred Gar and Kory moments to Dick and Rachels. Same as I prefer Kory and Rachel moments and Dick and Gar moments if anything because I don't think those other relationships got as much spotlight as they should have.
Lmao, oh when Vic made the your mom joke, I was like bitch his mother is right there XD. I mean, he has like 3 moms. Birth mom, Rita and Kory so yknow. XD
When Gar was like, "You know you can tell me anything." with his smiley face, my heART. I just really love their relationship. And now that little clip of him being like I think Kory is gonna sacrifice herself makes more sense cos of that conversation like Gar is obvs gonna catch onto it.
Overall this was a good episode imo but really it was the Kory and Gar moments that kept me invested, I won't lie. I will be clipping the moments together in a video like I did with episode 8 cos I need it.
Interesting to see next week's episode since its the penultimate one. Ima struggle so badly cos like I'm working a late shift so I'll have to fight to stay off of Tumblr or maybe I'll just give in and see spoilers. Idk. We'll see. XD

Comics this week ?
Action Comics #1059 - I knew it! I knew it was the Empire of Shadows! God I’m actually excited for Batman to show up in Action, I can’t believe it. Then again this is a very different kind of Batman, and it’s an evil Batman who is being used in service to (hopefully) make Superman look good. What a refreshing concept as opposed to the all too often reverse. Otho being the one Stone targets makes sense, like “Norah” points out, she’s a killer and the youngest daughter of the family. They have some things in common. God I love all the crazy tech that Steel has built over the run. It’s been great to have him be so involved and I’m going to be really disappointed if he gets dropped again with the “Superstars” next year. Shame Sandoval can’t finish this arc but I do enjoy Barrows. Nice little bit of Metropolis history with the street name, PKJ didn’t get to do as much of that as I was hoping for, but anything that plays up Metropolis as a “city of immigrants” suits me. Looks like Constantine and Etrigan will be showing up to help Superman delve into the Dark Multiverse to find Otho. Probably will learn the backstory of this Batman next issue, maybe even learn what happened to that Earth’s Superman too. Can’t wait! The Kenan story came to a satisfying conclusion as well, Yang did a good job within the limited pages he had. Justified why Kenan joined the Superfamily and why he isn’t interacting much with the JLC anymore. Last line paired with that panel shot was a gut punch. Yang set Kenan up for some great drama if anyone bothers to follow up on it which they probably won’t. Maybe I’ll get lucky and Yang will be the fourth writer for the Superstars next year after Aaron, Williamson, and Waid.
Steelworks #6 - Thought it was a solid freshman showing from Dorn. Ending was a bit rushed but there were some nice character moments across this whole mini, even if it’s definitely not an essential read for the line. Walker made for an entertaining bad guy by being so unrepentantly evil, it's nice to have a few of those guys around amidst all the sympathetic bad guys these days. When are we going to actually see JHI and Lana tie the knot? Maybe in Action? Would like to see that actually occur, it's been good for both characters imo.
Detective Comics #1078 - I have not read the Knightfall trilogy so I’ve never been a huge Azrael guy, but damn I actually am becoming a fan. Seeing gleefully charge a werewolf head on does a lot to endear him to me.
The Flash #3 - Love what Deodato is doing with the panels, really helps to sell the disorientation that Wally and Max are going through. Cool revamp of the Folded Man, my Flash knowledge has a bunch of holes in it so I don’t know what his deal has historically been. Good use of him here that makes me want to learn more. Bit nervous about the implication that Speed Force users are screwing up reality every time they use their powers, it reminds me too much of that Venditti plot point from New 52 GL about the Emotional Spectrum “running out”. Obviously they’re not going to stop making Flash stories so either they have to “fix” that if it’s actually the issue, or it’s a misdirect.
City Boy #6 - Good ending. Pak’s got a nuanced character in Kim, he’s so human and fallible that he could easily have ended up a villain as a hero. Seeing him rise above that at the end is inspiring in the way superhero fiction aims to be but usually falls short of. I don’t know if he’ll avoid falling into Limbo, he’s not a natural fit for any team, but I’d like to see both City Boy and Pak get more play at DC.
The Penguin #4 - After this week’s issue of Tec I wasn’t sure how King’s heist story would stack up against V’s - good thing that was a feint! Penguin’s taking a lot of risks here, that whole stunt could easily have ended with him being dead, but at least King showed that Cobblepot was actually nervous and unsure of how things would play out. This could easily be a Penguingod book but it avoids that pitfall.

The Devils I Know - Number 7
Welcome to “The Devils I Know!” For this spooky time of year, from now till Halloween, I’ll be counting down My Top 31 Depictions of the Devil, from movies, television, video games, and more! And SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND! Number 7 is…Al Pacino, from The Devil’s Advocate.
Tumblr media
Several years before facing Peter Stormare’s Lucifer in “Constantine,” Keanu Reeves had to challenge the Prince of Darkness in the 1997 crime/horror combo “The Devil’s Advocate.” In the film, Reeves plays Kevin Lomax, an up-and-coming lawyer working in Florida. Lomax is not necessarily an evil man, but he is a highly ambitious one, and is both dedicated and skilled when it comes to his job: even when defending a client he realizes is guilty, Lomax is still able to find a way to gain an acquittal from the jury. He’s a man who refuses to lose a case, no matter what. Indeed, his incredible ability to help his clients gets him the attention of a prominent law firm in New York City. Kevin accepts their job offer and moves to New York with his wife, Mary Ann (played by future Evil Queen and Morticia, Charlize Theron), expecting big things from this change in his life…and he certainly gets them, thought not at all the way he expects. The head of the firm is Al Pacino’s character, who goes by the name of “John Milton.” (A reference to the writer of “Paradise Lost.”) At first, Lomax and Milton get on swimmingly, but over time, as Kevin’s life begins to fall apart – his wife going insane, his career taking nightmarish directions – he begins to realize more and more that Milton is not all he seems. It’s ultimately revealed that Milton is not only Kevin’s long-lost father…but, more importantly, that Milton is the Devil himself. Milton’s whole scheme is to force Kevin into a position where he will willingly become the father of the Antichrist, so that Milton can – of course – take over the world. While Pacino was always the first choice to play the Devil in this movie, the creators didn’t secure his performance right away. Apparently, Pacino initially felt the role of Milton was too one-note, and rejected earlier versions of the script no less than three times. He did recommend other actors who might be able to take the part – apparently, both Sean Connery and Robert Redford, of all people, were considered for the role, per Pacino’s suggestion – but these performers ended up being either unavailable or simply unwilling to tackle the character. Finally, on the fourth proposal - and with some changes made to the script by that point – Pacino accepted the part. Thank goodness (or badness, I guess, in this case), because it’s hard to imagine anyone but ol’ Scarface here doing such a great job with the portrayal of the Devil in the film. Pacino’s Devil is a wonderfully fun villain; he’s somehow a character who hides nothing and yet remains an eternal enigma. Much like Jack Nicholson’s Daryl Van Horne, there’s a mixture of coarseness and dignity to this take on the concept. Pacino swaggers through the role, and carries himself with…basically the exact kind of attitude you’d EXPECT Pacino as the Devil to have: he's somewhere between a gangster and a sleazy snake oil salesman. It’s Pacino at his most…Pacino-y, but he also has a strength and sense of uneasy menace to him that gives him the power and believability a part like this requires. He speaks so sensibly and makes many good and interesting points, yet at the same time he never hides the fact that…well…he is who and what he is. To me, when I think of the Devil, this is one of the first versions I think of, and it’s easily in my Top 3 of Pacino’s performances (my favorite is Michael Corleone, my second favorite is Tony Montana). All in all, an easy choice for high placement on this countdown. Also…Keanu, you should probably stop ticking off the Devil. It, uh…doesn’t seem to go well for you, whenever it happens. Plus, now you have both Michael and Dracula mad at you, so…(pauses)…oh, who am I kidding, he’s John Wick. He can take care of himself. :P Tomorrow, the countdown continues with Number 6! HINT: One…Two…Three Strikes, You’re Out!

man if I got stuck in the DC universe my incredibly particular visions of various characters would totally bite me in the ass
me: Constantine has never done anything wrong in his life.
Constantine: no offense but that’s simply not true by any stretch of the imagination. for example. what about all the murders.
me, to everyone else: he’s allowed to do as many murders as he wants, because I love him. Jason is also allowed to do murders. Red Alice was good for doing murders and Beth should be Red Alice more and murder as many people as she wants. Damian can do a few murders sometimes, as a special treat. because he’s tiny.
Batman: no???
me: and stop booing Vicki Vale she’s right
whole Batfam: wait
me: Harley and Ivy are also allowed to do as many murders as they want because all of theirs are justifiable. except that one time Harley killed Jason but that was character development so it’s allowed.
Red Hood: excuse me???
me: the Riddler should not do murders but that’s okay because he does not want to. in his heart of hearts he’s a sweet man and all he really needs is some enrichment. someone should give him riddles for a change. Penguin is also just misunderstood. he can do the occasional murder. as long as it’s not a main character. Catwoman should do way more murders.
Catwoman: no that doesn’t sound right at all
me: Captain Cold and Heatwave are sweet and lovable and anyone who wants to fight them is homophobic. they’re gay they’re allowed to do as many crimes as they want to. they would never hurt anyone.
me: Lex Luthor is a good person all he wants to do is protect the planet from some dude with the powers of a god and no oversight. there’s literally no way to stop him unless Batman agrees he did something wrong and you want to trust his best friend who, as a billionaire, also has no oversight??? at least Lex will be stopped by the Justice League which is called checks and balances. Lex is right. also Lex only wants to help people and hug them
me: Teekl is a cat and therefore is allowed to do cat crimes. which is defined as any crime a cat wants to do. therefore no one is allowed to try to stop Clarion, either, who is Teekl’s sidekick.
me: Damien Dark is my best friend and he is the best dad in the whole world. he would do anything for his daughter and all of her friends who he also considers his own children basically. this includes fighting hard to make the world a better place and stopping bad people from hurting anyone, and also increasing technology in helpful and cool ways. if he’s using evil magic it’s for a good reason so everyone needs to let him use evil magic
me: Deathstroke is also a good dad. I mean he’s not a good dad but he’s trying. he wants to be there for his kids but he’s working through his trauma so it’s hard for him to know how to interact with one of them, let alone all seven thousand. and he’s clearly doing his best to help them all resolve their trauma as well. he only does murders because he has to. he needs to put food on the table for his seven thousand children after all
me: also why is anyone trying to stop Blackfire??? all she wants is to reconcile with her sister so they can be best friends again and peacefully (and democratically) lead their people together. she’s a little bit evil maybe but only cool evil so I think everyone should just stand aside and let her do whatever she wants. it will be quite interesting I think
me: leave Starro alone he never did anything to anybody
me: also Black Adam is adorable. he is my Dad
the entire Justice League: :/

Goodbye - H. "Green Lantern" Jordan.
Tumblr media
POV: 3rd Person
Warnings: Cussing, suicidal mentions, death
Plot: Being a hero comes with perks, including a hero as a fiance: Green Lantern. But what happens after a huge war and you don't know Hal's whereabouts? Let's find out
Viewer Discretion is advised, as this has spoilers to Justice League: Dark Apololips War and mentions suicide. You have been warned.
(A/N: Hey guys, Libby from the future! I want to let everyone know that not only is this geared towards women, but I had not seen Dark Apokolips War when I wrote this, so this is most likely inaccurate. View the source material in it's entirety before writing a fanfiction, kids).
Tumblr media
(Y/N)'s mind went in circles as she walked to the little spot her teammates were at. A few days ago, heroes, villains, and anti-heroes alike teamed up to save the world and fight Darkseid. Though she only had a few minor injuries, she needed to find answers as to where her fiance Hal Jordan, aka Green Lantern, was.
The young woman considered herself quite lucky, as she is one of the few who weren't turned into cyborgs or died. But she would never get the horrifying sights of her friends getting brutally slain wiped from her mind. (Y/N) only hoped that Hal had made it out alive.
She made it to the little spot, seeing her friends who are still broken from the fight. Especially Barry and Constantine. (Y/N) cleared her throat, causing everyone to look at the soon-to-be Mrs. Jordan. Everyone (except Dick, poor thing) waved at her, but Bruce, Barry, Diana, and Clark gave her an unsettled look as they knew of her lover's unfortunate fate.
"Hey, do you guys know where Hal is? I haven't seen him since the briefing." What was left of the Justice League gained more of unsettling looks as they now knew that (Y/N)'s fiance was dead.
Diana looked at the ring on the girl's finger. It was a simple one: Silver band with a diamond, the inside of the ring had the words 'No evil shall escape my sight' engraved, of course in reference to Highball's alter ego.
Diana then spoke up. "(Y-), um, (N/N), there's something that you should know."
(Y/N) was now twirling her engagement ring frantically, in hopes that it wasn't what she was thinking. Her mind, once more, ran in circles thinking of the worst possible thing that had happened.
The Kryptonian looked at the Amazon in hopes of finding a way to tell her on what happened to Hal. But they ultimately knew, that no matter how they tell her, it would not end well.
"(N/N). Lantern, he's-" Clark tried saying, but cut himself off before he can say what happened. At this point, the young woman was almost panicking at the thought of her beloved potentially dead.
"He...didn't make it." Bruce sighed and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. (Y/N) looked into his blue eyes.
"What do you-"
"(Y/N), Hal is dead!" Barry looked at her, who faced him completely mortified. "I was right there when he died, and I'd give anything to have his ass right here!!"
(Flashback)
After the meeting, Hal pulled his fiancee away from everyone. (Y/N) didn't make eye contact with him, as her anxiety was rushing due to what will happen next.
"Sweetheart, look at me." The man held her hand with the engagement ring on it, not taking his eyes off of her (E/C) ones. Still, she didn't look him in the eyes.
"(Y/N) (M/N) (L/N)-Jordan, look at me right now." (Y/N) looked at his chest, but instead with being met with the Green Lantern symbol, it was his brown jacket. She looked into his deep brown eyes, the same ones she's been getting lost into for years now.
But this time she didn't get lost into his eyes, she just watched his hands as they made their way to her now tear-stained cheeks. His thumbs gently caressed her cheeks to wipe away her tears, but she couldn't stop crying.
The woman then wrapped her arms around the man's body and buried her head into his chest, her sobs growing louder with each passing minute. He held his love close and protectively, never wanting to let her go. He slowly sank down against the wall all while holding his soon-to-be wife close.
He kissed the top of her head and stroked her (H/L) (H/C) hair. "Everything's going to be alri-"
"What makes you think everything is going to be alright?!" (Y/N) cut him off. "We're about to go on a fucking suicide mission where we don't know if either of us will make it out alive!! I COULD LOSE YOU OR YOU COULD LOSE ME, EVERYONE WE KNOW COULD D-"
At that moment, Hal cut her off by placing his lips onto hers. Taken aback by this, (Y/N) froze up, but reciprocated the love by kissing him back. Unlike their much more passionate kisses, this one in particular was soft and and tender. The two young lovers wanted to remain like that forever.
She pulled away and looked into his eyes, his eyes becoming more and more glossy as tears fell from his eyes. The girl did the same thing her beloved did and moved her thumbs to wipe his tears away, which only made more tears fall from his eyes and onto her thumbs.
"I'm so terrified...baby, I'm so scared..." Hal admitted to (Y/N), which made her pause for a second. "...I don't want to lose you, I'll be so lost without you..." He then started to sob. Of course, (Y/N) has seen him cry, but that's rare enough as it is. But never has she seen the love of her life sob.
She held both of his hands, which made the man's eyes look into her own. "I know you're scared, I am too. We all are. Not only are we all scared for our own lives, we're scared for our friends' lives."
"And?" He asked hopeless.
"Not only are the both of us scared for our lives, we're absolutely terrified of each other's lives! Harold, I haven't seen you like this since your father, and that absolutely mortified you! But you had the will to overcome your fear, and look at you now!" Hal hugged her tightly, and she hugged him back just at tightly. After a while, they both stood up and Hal put his ring back on.
"I promise to make it home alive, I love you (Y/N)."
"I love you too Harold, so so much." They shared another kiss and went their separate ways
(End Of Flashback)
All eyes were glued on (Y/N) as she stood there crying harder than she ever had. She moved away from everyone else, and once she was out of eyesight she started sobbing.
"You promised you would make it back alive!! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO?!?!" Barry sat next to the woman and wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
"Why did that jackass promise you that?" (Y/N) glared at the Speedster. "I mean, why did he promise something he knew he couldn't keep?"
"To give me some sort of hope to live through this."
"That's Hal for you. He loved you, more than anything. I know you loved him more than anything."
The woman looked at her engagement ring. "I want to be with him. Do you have a gun on you?"
"(Y/N), no! I know you're heartbroken, and you won't recover from this, but would Hal want you to resort to suicide?" (Y/N) only cried harder, knowing that Hal wouldn't want her to die. Barry pulled out a folded piece of paper and gave it to her.
"If Hal were to...never come home, he told me to give you this." He went back to the group, leaving (Y/N) alone with the paper. She unfolded it and read it:
"I'm not the best at love, despite being called a womanizer by everyone, but here goes nothing.
I knew the moment I saw you, I knew you were the one. Yeah yeah, I sound cliche, but I mean it. I've dated women in the past, including Star Sapphire, but you weren't my enemy. It took a lot for me to ask you out, to be my girlfirend, and to marry me. We've been through hell and back, but we made it. I know you're scared, I'm scared too, but like you told me a thousand times before to not let fear blind us.
You're reading this because Barry gave it to you. I told him to if I were to die during this mission, give it to you. I never wanted it to come to this, but it did, and I'm so sorry I'm causing you pain and heartbreak right now. Give it time, and you'll be back to your old spunky self, the spunky girl I asked to marry me. I know you'll get through this, you're the toughest person I've ever met.
I'm sorry we never were able to get married. But I hope you find someone who will love you the way I did. I love you baby, I'm so happy I was able to call you my beloved.
Until death did us part (Y/N),
Hal."
(Y/N) put down the paper and sobbed into her hands, now with the complete realization that she'll never be able to see Hal until death.
She stood up and shoved the paper into her pocket. She looked at her engagement ring once more.
"I love you too Hal, I'm so happy I was able to call you my beloved. Goodbye..."
Tumblr media
(A/N: Y'all, I'm still pissed off that Hal was one of the first ones to get killed. Like, this ain't some random GL, this is Hal fucking Jordan. Like I said, I didn't watch the movie beforehand. Big red flag there. Should I remake this after having already WATCHED DAW? You guys decide. Anyways, I'm going to watch videos about the Batfamily because I love them almost as much as I do Green Lantern!
Signing off for now,
-Libby)

He's The Devil You Know?
Word Count: 1326
Pairings: Lucifer Morningstar x Reader, Platonic John Constantine x Reader
Warnings: angst, mentions of violence, John and Lucifer just should not be in the same room together
A/N: Request from wattpad, Lucifer and Constantine crossover. Tag List and Requests are open
Summary: You were fond of your new life, loved the people you'd met and the man who stole your heart. Unfortunately an old and dear friend rolls into town, and he doesn't exactly approve of your relationship with the devilish club owner.
..................................................................................
It'd started as a regular night, you hung towards the back of the club, watching the people enjoy themselves and let loose the stress from their week. You'd be drinking yourself, but you had just gotten done singing and preferred the soothing taste of water then the burn of alcohol at the moment.
"That was quite a show you put on love, haven't heard you sing like that in years."
You almost didn't believe the voice you were hearing, mostly for the fact you hadn't heard it in years, at least not in person. However, when you turned around there he stood, trench coat and all. Your smile lit up your eyes, and you pulled him in for a hug.
"Constantine, you relentless bastard, it's good to know you're not pushing up daisies."
He chuckled hugging you back before you took a step back, holding him at arms length to look him over.
"You look good."
"Likewise love, seems you're doing well for yourself here."
You smiled a bit, shrugging as you motioned for a bartender to bring him a drink.
"I'm happy if that's what you're getting at."
"No chance you'll be coming back home then? Could always use a hand with some jobs."
You shook your head, thanking the hostess who handed John his drink.
"This is my home now, besides my boyfriend wouldn't be to keen on me putting myself in mystical situations where the chance of me dying is higher than the chance of me living."
John raised his eyebrows as he took a drink.
"Boyfriend eh? And will I be getting a chance to meet this mystery man who's got you so smitten?"
You looked around the club, trying to see if you could spot him through the crowd of people.
"He's around here somewhere."
John hummed a little, glancing around the club himself, but you noticed his was a more calculating look.
"You seem on edge John, something I should know?"
He turned his attention back to you, frowning a bit.
"Have you considered a different job? Maybe something far away from this hellish place?"
You furrowed your eyebrows at his choice in words, going to ask what he meant by that, but another voice silenced you before you could get a word out.
"Y/N darling! You'll never believe this delicious concoction the bartender just made it's marvelous!"
You smiled brightly as Lucifer wrapped an arm around your shoulders, holding the strangely colored drink up.
"I'm considering adding it to the menu, it's truly wonderful, would you care for a sip?"
"Maybe later, I'm actually talking to an old friend right now." You motioned to John and Lucifer finally seemed to notice him.
Although neither of their reactions were anything you expected. John looked pale as a ghost, while Lucifer was grinning devilishly.
"Well, well, if it isn't John Constantine, and in my club no less, this certainly is a surprise."
You glanced between the two of them confused.
"You know each other?"
"Oh yes, Johnny boy and I go way back, isn't that right John?"
John stammered a moment, before straightening his back and giving Lucifer a cold look.
"Unfortunately, and I never should have helped you, or that demon." John snapped.
"Oh come now, I helped you in return, we're even now are we not? No need for such hostility, certainly not in front of my darling songbird here." Lucifer scolded, but his smile remained firmly planted on his lips.
John cast you a worried glance and his hand twitched to pull you away from the devil beside you.
"It's not safe to be around him love, you don't know what he really is."
You couldn't help but tilt your head a little, frowning a bit.
"Of course I do."
That provoked a very shocked reaction from John and a rather amused chuckle from Lucifer.
"I... I'm not sure you do love, or you wouldn't be standing so close to him."
You placed a hand on Lucifer's chest as he pulled you closer to him.
"John, this is the boyfriend I was telling you about, I'd introduce the two of you, but that doesn't seem necessary."
John's face went blank, and you uttered his name a few times concerned. Lucifer laughed snapping his fingers in front of John's face.
"Oh dear, I think we broke him darling."
John slapped Lucifer'a hand away scowling at him while the devil simply laughed.
"You're not really dating this lunatic are you?" John finally spoke.
Lucifer scoffed at the insult, but John paid him no mind, focusing solely on you.
"He's the devil you know, king of hell, prince of darkness, Satan?"
"Yes John, I know." You sighed.
"Then what the bloody hell are you thinking!?"
Lucifer frowned at John's shout, and took a step forward but your hand on his chest halted any further movements.
"I'm thinking I've been with this man for the last two years, and you're not about to come here and suddenly convince me he's evil."
"He's the actual devil."
"I believe that's been established, are you having trouble remembering things Johnny? Aging can be so taxing on one's mind. Not that I'd know mind you." Lucifer smirked.
You lightly hit Lucifer's chest, giving him a pointed look as you pulled away.
"Well this has been a really fun conversation..." Your voice dripped sarcasm.
"But now I need a drink now, so play nice while I'm gone boys."
You walked away, and they waited until you were out of sight before rounding on each other. Lucifer handed his now empty glass off to a hostess walking by.
"What's your game here? After her soul?"
Lucifer laughed, placing his hands in his pockets.
"You know I care very little about human souls John, and while I'm sure you'd like to think this is some sort of game, I assure you that's not the case. But what about you? How do you know her so very well it seems?"
Lucifer's smile was full of amusement and John took a weary step back.
"She's like a sister to me, I've known her for years, and I'm not about to let you hurt her."
That struck a nerve with the vacationing king of hell and his amused smile vanished.
"I've no intention of hurting her you blubbering buffoon! But this aimless bickering will, so I suggest you accept the fact that she's an adult capable of making her own decisions and enjoy the rest of your time with her."
Lucifer smiled at you, waving as you began to walk back over. John narrowed his eyes looking over at Lucifer.
"That almost sounded like a threat there mate."
Lucifer kept smiling at you, but his next words were cold.
"Oh but it was. If you do anything to upset her tonight, to take away that smile I try so hard to keep on her delectable lips..."
He turned to John when you looked away from him, his smile gone as he grabbed the exorcist's coat.
"I'll reconsider my opinion on killing humans and take an especially keen interest in your soul, do we understand each other?"
John wordlessly nodded, his face pale with fear as Lucifer's eyes flashed red. Lucifer released him just as you reached them, you handed your devilish lover a drink as you looked between the two of them.
"Everything okay?"
Lucifer wrapped his arm around your waist glancing towards John from the corner of his eye.
"I think we've come to an understanding, isn't that right Johnny?"
John cleared his throat, smoothing out his coat.
"No problem here love, excuse me a tick will you, I think I need something a bit stronger." He flashed you a grin before turning on his heel.
You watched your friend hurry towards the bar, and you leaned into Lucifer's side.
"You threatened him, didn't you?"
Lucifer gave you a charming smile as he swirled the amber liquid in his glass.
"Just a bit."

this one is for@mistkissedmoon a lil more Dad!Constantine with a ft. from Jason Blood and John would be so terrible at taking care of ppl but still like really care, so I hope I captured that feeling in this
“This was your big emergency?”
Jason Blood gave a blank stare to the British man across from him.
He didn’t usually just drop everything to attend to someone; especially if that person was John Constantine, but ever since the exorcist decided to take care of the Gem of Scath he proposed it would be a good idea for John to keep him on speed dial.
He didn’t actually expect John to use said number.
Constantine was a demon expert in his own right. Jason believed that he was right to assume that the only reason his help would be sought after was only if the apocalypse had begun.
He felt a nerve in his temple twitch in annoyance (and, ashamedly in disappointment).
It's just that when John rang him and pressed for him to come to the House of Mystery, he had simply been expecting more...destruction. Maybe some blood and fire raining from the sky, the earth itself cracking open to release eldritch horrors of all kinds or even complete ripping of the fabrics of reality.
Anything along those lines would have justified his presence being required, but instead, he was met with-
“achoo!”
Jason looked down at the small form below him.
The spawn of evil incarnate was smaller than he thought it would be. If one ignored the glowing red gem wedged into its forehead, it could easily fool for another harmless 7-year old girl.
Especially as it laid half-dazed in its bed, staring up at the ceiling in a lucid trance. With only half its face poking out from under their star themed blanket, it sniffled pitifully due to the snot dripping out its flushed nose.
The room was perfectly mid-temperature, but the child has so drenched in sweat that even the towel on top of its forehead had over-soaked but yet it still shivered as if it was below -0 degrees.
Was the level of the child’s symptoms extreme? Yes.
Was it worth calling him for? Definitely not.
The daughter of Trigon was sick, yes, but it was obviously just the flu.
“That’s what I‘ve been saying.”
Jason turned to the source of the voice—a young woman stood in the doorway and held a tray of what seemed to be cups and bowls.
John had introduced her as Zed and he had just assumed they were in a relationship— to focused on the assumed threat to try to examine their personal lives.
Maybe he should’ve guessed this excursion would be a waste of time by Zed’s expressions. When he arrived she had shot him nothing but apologetic looks. At first, Jason believed the worst laid behind the doors he was led to but as he now knows, that was not the case.
“That idiot thinks it’s some paranormal curse,”, Zed huffed as she sent a glare at the blond man who began to try and defend himself.
“It's been weeks and she's still under the weather. You think Beelzebub gets the bloody sniffles?!”
“But a child of her age would! Especially one who reads in the tub and doesn't dry her hair before going outside in August,” Zed rolled her eyes as she spoke as if the answer was obvious—and they were, "maybe if you stopped treating her as the destroyer of worlds and instead as a 7-year-old, you won't have wasted the poor guys time."
Jason couldn't help but internally agree with her words.
John continued his defence, "All I'm saying is when I got a cold, I just carried on with my day maybe a bit foggy up there but hardly half-dead like Blackbird over 'ere."
Another eye roll from Zed was the only reply.
Approaching them, she extended the tray towards Jason. He gave a look at the cup of tea and noticed it seemed to be next to another 'sweat towel' in a bowl, he cringed a little before rejecting the offer.
Zed just shrugged before dropping the tray onto a side table and drinking the cup herself. Taking a seat at the edge of the bed, her gaze was soft as she stared down at the child, her hands ran through the child short dark tresses in a comforting manner.
Jason studied how she gently cupped the back of the Gem of Scath’s head and raised it, picking up a cup of water from the side and bringing it to the demon’s mouth and it drank with obedience.
The more Jason watched, the less he could even continue to refer to this child as a demon.
Etrigan was a demon—looked like one too.
How could he use the same term he'd use to describe the bastard in him, to describe this tiny looking thing before him? And though he could sense the hellish magic pouring out of her, for now, she was harmless.
"Alright, summon him out."
John's voice pulled him out of his thoughts. He gave him a perplexed look before asking, "Excuse me?"
"Etrigan. Your demon buddy," the way John looked and spoke, you could tell he saw no issue with his request, "Just wanna confirm from a primary source whether if this is something worse or natural way of life."
Jason was flabbergasted, 'was this why he was called?!'
John sighed.
Actually looking peeved by Jason's confusion.
To the side, he heard Zed's chuckle as she began to switch the towels on the girls head, "told you he wouldn't do it."
"Oh bog off," John retorted back before turning back to him and placing a hand on Jason's shoulder, "Listen, it's either you or I visit ol' Luci and I'm simply not really...eager to have that encounter. So do me a favour here, and just bloody say the rhyme."
Jason looked at the hand on his shoulder like it was a parasite before smacking it off. Taking a breath to compose himself, he turned to the exorcist, " I assure you, there is nothing Etrigan can assist you with that I cannot also offer."
"A huge fuck-off sword?"
Jason glared, "Let me see the child," he spat—obviously ignoring the previous statement.
John put his hands up in surrender before indicating with a turn of his head to the child who had actually risen during their conversation and was now sitting upright—well, slouched and she was staring half-lidded at the wall with the only sign she was awake being her harsh breaths.
He bent down as to be in her level of sight and stuck his hand out, "Hello, my name is Jason Blood, you must be..." "Raven." "-yes, thank you, Zed. They tell me you are a bit under the weather?"
Jason realized halfway that he never learnt the girl's name and had simply just been referring to her as the Gem of Scath. He felt a tinge of guilt for his rudeness, but the dazed stare the girl gave him was confirmation that she was barely conscious enough to even notice.
He also realized it was ridiculous to try to shake a child's hand and was bout to retract it when he felt a pair of smaller ones latch onto his fingers.
Looking up he met a sleepy pair of amethyst eyes trying to focus on him, "N-n-nwot sick...jus-jhwust..uh sleepy and...cwold," with a voice that was softer than a whisper, plus the slurring of her words due to the fever, she was basically incomprehensible.
He was going to try and retract his hand again when he felt something soft come in contact with it. He looked down to see that she had placed her face in the palm of it and wrapped around it like a snake.
With a single muttering of, "...warm...like hellfire", she fell asleep with his hand still under her.
He looked at Constantine.
Not really sure what to do, but the con-man only grinned before giving him a tap on the back, "Good lad Jason, put her to sleep. Even I couldn't do that, let alone Etrigan. Guess I'll leave it to you."
And with that, Zed and John stood up and began to exit the room.
Jason was still in shock to even speak; so before he realized what they were doing, they already switched off the lights and closed the door with a soft click.
He simply stared into the darkness, the only illumination being the moon and stars outside.
Sighing, looked down at the fiend holding his hand prisoner and contemplated yanking her off. She was small. it would incredibly easy to flick her away and then he could simply depart home...but then he felt a squeeze.
As if the girl sensed his thoughts, she clung harder onto his limb like it was a lifeline.
She looked truly at peace right now; her harsh breaths were now nothing but puffs and she was less...sweaty. Demon spawn or not, the girl was no more vulnerable than a newborn fawn at the moment. Jason just didn't have the heart to disturb her peace for his own gain.
Another sigh could be heard in the silent room.
'Maybe an hour longer won't hurt but after that, never accept a favour for John Constantine again.'
hope you like it, feels weird writing characters that aren't just raven and my other faves, hope I didn't make anyone ooc

Ill Tidings From Down Below
Night Culture AU One-Shot
Word Count: 1.3K Warnings: Explicit Language
Author's Note: I am back once again with a fic based on this piece by @bunnvoid! This time it's one with Hal and Kyle's Night Culture forms in which they're "Wraiths"! I hope you enjoy the piece and do expect a possible sequel when Bunn and I converse more over what the other characters look like and such! -Thorne
**********************************************************************
“That’s a wyvern,” he said dumbly, gazing at the large dragon currently stretching out its wings in the sun. “It’s as big as my home in New Guard.”
The royal flyer descended from the deep blue silk saddle, landing just a few feet from Kyle. “She,” he corrected. “Nezyphis is a she.” He accentuated his point by scratching a section of smooth looking scales behind her head, cooing, “Aren’t you a pretty girl, Nezyphis? Who’s a pretty girl?”
A noise rumbled through the air from the dragon’s chest, something akin to a purr and she fell flat onto her stomach, digging her chin into the dirt.
“She’s a giant dragon,” he repeated dumbly, this time catching the golden symbols lining the harness she wore; recognition bled across his face, and he remarked, “I didn’t know you were apart of the Royal Flyers, Hal.” Kyle’s lips pulled in a satisfied way as he muttered to himself, “But that does also explain why your head is shoved so far up your ass as it is. Only members of the Kings Forces act like that.”
If Hal had heard him, he didn’t speak on it as he explained, “My father was one when I was a child. I followed in his footsteps.” Hal exhaled as he leant back against the wyvern. “Besides, I only boast about it when I know there’s no one around who can connect me to the Wraiths.” He looked at Kyle. “You don’t usually come along this side of the land. Something up?”
Kyle nodded. “Bruce is calling for the members to meetup at the sanctuary. All of us.”
“Why’s that? Is there new force he’s detected in his hidey-hole?”
“I’m not entirely sure myself,” he answered. “I haven’t been out of New Guard in a few weeks, but…he seemed concerned.”
Hal snorted and Kyle swore the wyvern did too. “As if the man could ever feel something like concern. You honestly expect me to believe Spooky is spooked?”
“Hal, I’m being serious. Even Jason called on me and told me that Bruce is trying to find out where that occult magician Constantine is so he can recruit him as well.”
The flyer’s face pinched. “I don’t like that guy. He’s trouble.”
“Regardless,” Kyle waved off. “Bruce is calling us all to the sanctuary.”
Nezyphis suddenly stood on her hind legs, stepping in front of both men, and growled loudly. They both shot each other looks of suspicion then a swirling evergreen cloud enveloped them both, settling moments later to leave behind ghost-like wispy trails of smoke along their faces, arms, and legs, almost as if their entire bodies were made of the substance; humans taking on the forms of spectres.
“I don’t know what she’s growling at,” Hal murmured, voice cold and low like the hiss of death. “I don’t sense anything in the immediate area.”
“I do,” Kyle replied, his voice only an octave higher than Hal’s, but just as frigid. “And it’s evil. I can feel it slithering like the serpents in the Wayward Lands.”
“I hate that place.”
“Only because you’re intimately familiar with it.”
Hal shot him a glare. “As familiar as one can be when you’ve died.” He drew a hand along Nezyphis’ side. “Take to the skies,” he said. “You will have a better view from the air.”
She obeyed, massive wings generating gusts of wind strong enough to kick up the dirt and rocks around them as she lifted herself into the sky above.
Hal stared at the tree line, flying next to Kyle. “It’s coming from there.”
The painter looked at him. “Shall we flip a coin to see who goes in first?”
“You go first.”
“What! Why me!”
“Because I have seniority and I said so.” He nodded towards the trees. “Go, I’m right behind you.”
Kyle all but hissed at him as he stalked to the forested area, then he paused and looked back at Hal. “If I get eaten because of you, I’m going to kill you.”
“Uh huh,” Hal mocked. “I’ll be sure to send your patron your regards.”
The two walked into the forest, white eyes cautious and waiting for anything, though the further they went, the darker it got, as if the trees were finding a way to block out the sun. In mere minutes they had reached the heart of the forest, a giant clearing surrounded by a circle of trees, though the canopy blocked the light of the sun above them.
“I don’t like this,” Kyle mumbled. “I feel like I’m being watched.”
“Don’t be such a scared child,” Hal chastised. “We’ll be fine—we’ve faced worse and come out unscathed.”
The younger man stilled, resting his hand back across Hal’s chest. “Do you hear that?”
“Hear what?” he strained to listen. “I don’t hear anything.”
“Exactly,” Kyle remarked, turning to him. “It’s too quiet.” They both started looking around. “Where is the wildlife? The birds and deer? There’s nothing around. It’s like—”
“Like everything has died,” Hal interrupted, nodding at the center tree and Kyle’s eyes went wide when he gazed at it.
The blackened char of the giant Blightwood tree gave off the scent of rotting flesh, causing both men to turn away, holding their hands to their faces. The ground all around the tree was covered in an oozing black liquid enveloping everything in its path.
“I’ve seen necromancy before,” Hal started. “But nothing quite like this.” He shook his head, taking a step back. “This is greater and far darker than anything I’ve ever encountered.”
Kyle nodded, stomach churning with every waft of the smell up his nose. “This must be what Bruce was worried about. But…is this an extension of the other phenomena? Or is this a new one cropping up?”
Hal shook his head. “I don’t know, but we need to leave and report this to Bruce and the others at the sanctuary.” He looked to the sky, what little of it he could, and his eyes widened. “Kyle,” he breathed. “It’s sundown.”
The painter’s head cocked up, jaw going slack. “That’s impossible…it was only eleven when we entered.” He reached into his chest, hand disappearing only to come out a moment later with a brass pocket watch. “My God,” he whispered. “We’ve spent eight hours in here. But how? It’s only felt like minutes?”
“The dark magic here must be distorting reality as we know it.” He urged Kyle to turn back. “We have to get out of here. Now, lest the others send someone to find us and experience the same.”
“This isn’t good, Hal. Something is seriously wrong with this forest. And not in the good way.”
“Save it for Bruce and the others.”
By the time they exited the forest, the sky was a deep mahogany, signaling the start of sunrise, and Hal raised his fingers to his lips, whistling sharply. The cry of the wyvern sounded above them, like she’d been circling the forest all day and night and into the early morning, then she landed.
Hal climbed into the saddle, holding his hand out to Kyle. “Come on.” Tugging the other man behind him, he dug his heels into her sides. “Go Nezyphis. To the sanctuary.”
The wyvern ascended into the dark sky and Kyle lifted his hand. “Guy and John have both tried to contact us during the hours. The forest must’ve distorted the signals of our rings as well.”
“We’ll be at the sanctuary soon enough to explain.”
Kyle frowned as the land passed by beneath them, the wind whipping across their faces. “Something tells me this is only going to get worse, Hal.”
The flyer’s expression darkened as he leant the wyvern in the direction of the sanctuary. “You and me both, Kyle…you and me both.”

All Through the Night
Cordonia's Royal Palace, 2 a.m.
"Heeeerah!” Olivia threw her daggers as hard as she could while doing a roundhouse kick.
The blades struck into the chest, head, and groin of the makeshift dummy.
She brushed the few strands of red hair that had escaped her hair clip out of her eyes. With a great deal of scrutiny, she studied her dagger placement.
"The one to the head needs to go deeper."
She spun around with a start at that all too familiar voice.
"You're late." She folded her arms and tapped her foot.
Liam rubbed the back of his neck. "Sorry. Had to stop off for a quick bite."
Olivia rolled her eyes. "That's not funny."
"Not that kind of bite." He teased, holding up a styrofoam box.
"Oh." She blinked in surprise. "I forget that you enjoy normal food too."
He chuckled at that. "There are certain foods that I don't think any man could ever give up."
Olivia decided to ignore that as she wiped the sweat from her face and neck. "Now that you're here, let's get the formalities over with."
"Very well." Liam gestured toward her. "You may go first."
She sat down on a bench lining one side of the palace gym. She motioned for him to join her.
"Not you!" She hissed when she saw his all too familiar guard.
Drake Walker bristled at her tone. His brown eyes clashed with her green.
"Give us a moment, please." Liam asked him.
"Don't let your guard down." Drake warned. "Remember, she's a Nevarkis."
Olivia tensed. "Perhaps you should remember what happened the last time you said something like that."
She quirked one eyebrow at the man and felt a sense of glee when he winced in memory.
His hand automatically drifted to his side where one of her daggers had once struck true.
With a quick bow to Liam, Drake stepped back out into the hallway.
Liam shook his head. "Are you two ever going to get along?"
"Stop talking stupid." Olivia snapped. "Now then, as you know...I must have my revenge."
"I know." Liam folded his arms and leaned casually against a column.
She eyed him for any sign of hatred.
It drove her crazy how unvampiric he could be.
He seemed almost human.
He seemed...kind.
A vampire is nature's evil incarnate. You can never trust a Rhys.
Those words had been drummed into her skull by her parents and then her aunt after their deaths by Constantine's hand.
And yet...Liam had done the unthinkable.
He had actually been a friend to Olivia.
*************
The night after her parents' funeral, five year old Olivia had been sitting alone before the fireplace, weeping over them.
Her aunt had left her to deal with her own grief and to plan the next attack upon Constantine.
As she searched for a tissue, Olivia jumped back with a shriek at the little blonde haired boy that held the Kleenex box.
His eyes were filled with unshed tears as he handed her a tissue.
"Who are you?" She asked, remembering that a Nevarkis must always be brave.
"I'm Liam." He explained. "I wanted to...I wanted to tell you I'm sorry about your parents." He sniffed and took a tissue for himself. "My mom died too."
Olivia blinked and took a cautious step forward. "Are you...are you a vampire?!"
He nodded.
She whipped out the dagger her mother had given her and rushed at him.
Liam moved faster than she could comprehend, gently keeping her hand above her head.
"Let go of me, monster!" She ordered. "You're why I'm all alone!"
"I didn't do anything." He told her, anguish taking over his handsome features. "I don't want to hurt you or anyone."
"Liar!" She snapped. "That's what you do. Lie and kill." Her tears ran faster down her cheeks. "And now you'll kill me."
"I won't." He promised. "I swear I won't hurt you." He ignored his own tears trickling down his cheeks. His blue eyes burned with resolve. "My mother made me promise never to hurt a human."
Olivia shook her head. It had to be lies. Isn't that what vampires and monsters do? Lull you into letting your guard down so that they could have an easy kill.
"Your father will pay for what he did." She said, hoping to see his true, evil nature. "He must die!"
"I know." Liam slowly released her and took a step back.
Olivia watched in surprise as he sat down before her fireplace and pulled out a silk blue ribbon from his pocket.
He motioned for her to join him.
She slowly lowered herself down, dagger poised in her little fist in case he made a move.
"May I have your hand, please?" He asked.
He patiently waited on her to decide whether or not to give it to him.
She tentatively placed her hand in his.
His lips turned up into a relieved smile as he wrapped the ribbon over their joined hands.
"What are you doing?" She asked, lowering her dagger.
"Making a bond." He explained. "I, Liam Rhys, Crown Prince of the Dark Kingdom, promise to never seek out revenge and to end all vendettas against the Nevarkis family." His blue eyes held her green. "Just as my mother, Queen Eleanor wanted me to."
Oliva's lips parted. "You mean it?"
"I do." Liam's voice held a great deal of sincerity. "I would rather walk into the sun than not do as she asked."
"Oh." Olivia sniffed. She could understand that kind of devotion.
"Do you," Liam's cheeks colored. "Do you think we can be allies?"
"A Nevarkis will never be friends with a monster." She repeated the rhetoric that she knew by heart.
"But," Liam's shoulders slumped. "We're not all bad."
"All monsters are bad at heart."
"I'm not." He pouted. "I don't want to be."
"You're so weird." She muttered.
"Am not." Liam grumbled. "I hope I'm not."
Olivia looked down at their hands still bound together. "I guess since you promised something, I should too."
He didn't bother to hide his surprise.
She stuck her tongue out at him. "I, Olivia Nevarkis, The Crown Princess of Cordonia, swear that after I kill Constantine Rhys, I will lay down my weapons." Her brow furrowed. "I'll pick them back up though if you or any other monster tries anything."
Liam's smile grew. Before she could react, he tugged her into a quick hug.
"Now we can be friends!" He cheered.
"Friends?" She shook her head. "I'm a Nevarkis and you're a Rhys. We can't be friends."
"We will be." He vowed, jumping to his feet. "I have to go before Father finds out I've sneaked out. I'll try to come back in a few nights."
Olivia didn't have a chance to tell him whether or not she wanted him to. In the blink of an eye, he had jumped from her balcony and was already out the palace gates.
*****************
That had been the beginning of Liam's visits. Through the years, he had remained true to his promise. He did all he could to befriend her and never tried to sway her from seeking vengeance.
Olivia had once asked him how he could take her threat against his father so easily.
He had merely shrugged, explaining that he knew it was the way of things. His father had killed both her parents, while he had only lost one. He hoped she didn't since he did not wish to see his father or her dead.
Olivia had then told him again how weird he was, bringing another smile to his lips.
And now here he was again, calmly taking her promised vengeance well.
"So what business brings you here tonight?" She asked.
"Father thinks it is time I chose a wife." Liam responded. "I thought you should know that I will be spending more time in your kingdom to find one."
Olivia shot up off the bench. "What? But you promised to never hurt a human!"
"And I will keep true to that." He explained.
"But..." Olivia's brow furrowed. "You'll turn her into a vampire."
"Only if she wishes it." Liam explained. "I won't force her to make such a decision."
"I see." She began to pace while thinking. "You'll have vampire children."
"Only if she's a vampire." He reminded her. "Remember my brother."
Olivia paused. She had forgotten about Leo Rhys, The Great Disappointment of the Dark Kingdom. His mother had begged Constantine not to turn her. It had never been asked before, and in his mercy he had agreed. That was when they all discovered that a monster and a human could only produce a human child. In order for the heir to the Dark Kingdom to be a vampire, both parents had to be the same being.
"And you'll be fine having human children?" She asked. "If you're chosen bride refuses the Vampire's Kiss?"
"Of course." He responded.
"Lord, you're so weird." She muttered.
His smirk flashed. "Let's hope the woman I choose doesn't think so."
"Are there no women in your kingdom you can choose from?" She asked.
"I've looked." He shook his head. "It's hard to explain, but if one doesn't have an arranged marriage, then we must search until we see the one meant for us."
"And you somehow got weirder." She brushed her hands down her pants and held one out to him. "Good luck, I suppose."
"Thank you." He grasped her hand and lifted it to his lips. "I'll keep you updated on my progress."
"There's no need."
"Of course there is." He winked at her on his way out. "We're friends."
Her lips parted to once again remind him that they couldn't be. For some reason, she decided not to say it.
Liam had somehow wormed his way into her life and had become the closest friend she had ever had.

Worth the Wait (RCD/TRR What If AU)
Amanda grimaced once more over her swollen eyes. Thank goodness she had gone with waterproof eye makeup. At least she only looked swollen instead of a puffy eyed racoon.
Her stomach gurgled when Thomas opened the door.
She hid her face in her hands. "I'm sorry. I've not eaten since I threw up a muffin this morning."
He couldn't help but smile at her embarrassment. "You don't have to worry about what I think when that happens.
When she lifted her head, his eyes narrowed in concern.
"You've been crying." He gently took her face in his hands.
"Hormones." She wondered how she was able to say such a falsehood so easily.
His hands lingered, thumbs brushing her cheeks, then dropped to his sides. "I should forewarn you. Rachel and Stephen are here."
Amanda stepped back, nearly falling backwards off his front stoop.
Thomas caught her in his arms, turning them both until she was safely between him and a wall.
"Are you all right?" He could feel her heart thumping against his chest.
She nodded. "Just caught off guard." Biting her lip, she lifted her eyes to his. "Did you tell them about," she gestured toward her belly.
"I did."
"And?"
"And they are thrilled with the knowledge that they will have a niece or nephew before the year is through.”
Amanda finally asked the question that was really bothering her. “Do they, of course they must, but do they hate me too much for my,” she took a deep breath, “for ending things between us?”
If Thomas was to go with how his sister had not only readily jumped into planning a wedding for them as well as becoming angry over his not proposing to Amanda yet, he seriously doubted she held anything against his ex.
“They don’t hate you at all.” He kept an arm around her waist. “Come inside.”
Leaning a bit closer than necessary to him for comfort, she allowed him to lead her to his living room.
Rachel jumped up and hugged her, pushing her brother out of the way. “I’m so excited!”
Amanda laughed when Stephen thanked her for getting pregnant.
“Now Rach will stop pestering me about getting a puppy or kitten. All her time will be spent in preparation of becoming an aunt.”
“We will get one of those if my niece or nephew wants one.” Rachel snapped at him.
She ignored his teasing grin and focused on Amanda. “How are you feeling?”
“Fine.” She lied.
“She suffers with severe morning sickness.” Thomas corrected.
Rachel’s brow furrowed. “Who is taking care of you?”
“Me.” Amanda said with a laugh that wasn’t quite sincere. “Servants, occasionally my friends, and of course Thomas when we are together.”
Rachel glared at her brother. “She needs help all the time.”
He glared back, knowing she was heavily hinting that they should get married.
“I’ll be fine. Hopefully by my next appointment it will have lessened.” Amanda said, wondering at their sudden irritation.
“And if it doesn’t?” Rachel continued to stare Thomas down.
“Then I’ll do what I have been doing.” Amanda shrugged. “I really don’t have much of a choice in the matter.”
She moved away from them to sit down.
“Some people have a choice.” Rachel muttered where only Thomas could hear.
Ignoring her, he asked Amanda what she felt like eating.
“I’m not sure. This baby and I have very different views on what I should eat." She tried to joke.
He had to stop himself from brushing her hair back from her face. That lopsided grin of hers had a way of making him feel the need to comfort her.
"I was thinking of taking you to The Palm for dinner."
Her surprise made him smile. It used to be one of their favorite places to eat. Thomas hadn't been there since they broke up. For some reason, he had gone ahead and made a reservation for them.
"The Palm?" Rachel leaned forward. "What kind of food do they have."
"Italian." Amanda smiled at him. "I have had a craving for tomatoes recently."
"Then hopefully you'll be able to enjoy a meal for a change."
"We'll go to the guest house and get cleaned up." Rachel tugged Stephen up out of his chair. "What time should we be ready?"
"You have thirty minutes." Thomas warned.
"Thirty?!" Rachel dashed out.
Stephen chuckled. "How long do we really have?"
"Forty-five minutes." Thomas replied. "But I know my sister and if i say forty-five, she'll take an hour or more."
Stephen snorted in amusement. "Yes, she will."
Once they were alone, Thomas sat down across from Amanda.
"The Palm." Her smile dimmed some over the memories of romantic evenings spent at that particular establishment. "I can't remember the last time we had dinner there."
"November." Thomas fought squirming when she looked up in surprise once more.
"I'm looking forward to it." Amanda said to break the uncomfortable silence that had fallen between him.
"So am I." He got up to get something to drink. He offered to get her something just to have something to do.
He could feel her eyes following him out of his living room. When he was out of eyesight he pinched the bridge of his nose. He still didn't know if he could risk his heart again. He knew she was leaving soon and that things between them were up in the air.
And he was wanting to settle once more into how they once were.
But then that would bring up whether or not they should go ahead and marry.
Should we? If it doesn't work out, how much more will it hurt to walk away from her and our child? To break the life I once dreamed of having with her...should I really jump into it without seeing if it's worth the chance?
He didn't know. He knew his fear was keeping him from so much. Yet...hadn't his fear kept him from horrible decisions in the past?
Or had it kept him from something great?
He prepared her a glass of ginger ale and brought it to her.
He grasped on the topic of what she planned to do once back in Cordonia while he debated on what to do.

Mixed Signals (Open Heart AU) exert
A few minutes later, Bryce motioned for her to follow him to the cafeteria. It was for the most part empty, save for a couple of doctors grabbing a late lunch.
"You want anything?" He asked.
"No thanks." She sat down at a table while he went to get a snack.
He grinned as he sat down across from her. "Here." He pushed a bag of peanuts toward her. "You should eat something."
Her nose wrinkled. "I haven't really got my appetite back yet."
She noticed the concern in his eyes so like her roommates' and knew she would have to force down some of it just to make it stop.
"So?" She tried not to gag on what once was her favorite go to snack. "How have you been?"
"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" He bit into a burger. "I mean," he said between bites, "of the two of us, you've been the patient."
"Yeah." She slumped some in her seat. "I wasn't too sick to talk on the phone though." Her eyes narrowed somewhat on his. "Or have visitors."
Bryce winced. "Sorry about that, Chris. I guess I didn't know what to say or do?"
"Really?" Her eyes narrowed more.
How often had she stressed to him within the past year that he was important to her, that she wanted to be with him. Then when he wouldn't say he wanted that too and reverted back to calling her a friend, she gave in to trying something with Ethan.
Only for both men to keep her on a yoyo string to pull back and forth whenever they needed her.
What do I see in them to keep swallowing my pride and allowing them to basically use me for sex whenever they want?
Chris was fed up. The longer Bryce stammered about his busy schedule and not wanting to disturb her rest, the more she wanted to chunk the peanuts at his stupid, much too handsome face.
She didn't even want the damn things. Might as well use them as a quick release to her frustration.
Her fingers curled around the bag. Her bicep tightened in preparation to throw them, when Sienna walked up.
Her friend's excited hug and squeals of seeing her at work again were what saved Bryce's overly confident face.
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming back?!" Sienna sat down next to her. "I would have made celebration pancakes this morning!"
Chris couldn't stop from smiling. She could always depend on Sienna's sweetness to boost her mood.
"I didn't really decide until you had left for work. Then Farley came by to check on me and he wasn't feeling too good..."
She continued to tell her about his diagnosis of lime disease.
"Hate to break this up, but I have to get ready for surgery." Bryce smiled at them both. "Take it easy, Valentine. I don't want to have to operate on you next."
Chris bit back a bitter retort that he better hope she needed surgery. It would be his only chance to catch her naked again.
"Meet us at Donahue's later!" Sienna shouted. "We will celebrate Chris being back."
"There's no need." Chris began.
"Yes, there is!" Sienna squeezed another hug out of her. "My best friend is back with us and I'm over the moon about it!"
Bryce smirked at her. "She's right. We have to celebrate our friend's return."
Our friend. Chris despised the word, friend. Why did she keep placing her hope on him seeing her as something more than a mere friend?
And to make things worse, Ethan walked past.
"Dr. Ramsey!" Sienna called out before Chris could stop her. "Come have a drink with us tonight in honor of Chris's return!"
Ethan hesitated. That action nearly earned him peanuts in his much too handsome face too.
Gawd, I hate that look. The sad, yearning eyes. The slight frown. Man up and either say you want to date me or leave me alone for good! This back and forth is killing me worse than the poison did.
"Where at?" Ethan finally asked.
"Donahue's." Sienna beamed when he said he would try and stop by on his way home.
Chris mumbled a goodbye as Bryce left and Ethan headed off to find something to eat.
"Who else should we invite? I know Rafe is still too sick to get out." Sienna tapped her fingers on the table while scrolling through her contacts. "We can invite the rest of the diagnostic team and Ines and--"
"I'll send an invite to Tobias." Chris decided.
"Tobias? Who's...oh!" Sienna's eyes widened. "Dr. Carrick, right?"
"Yeah." Chris sent a text to him before she could think too much about it. "He did rush over with Aurora to try and save my life."
"I thought he was the enemy?" Sienna whispered while her eyes cut to Ethan. "Don't they have bad blood between them?"
"Something like that." Chris grumbled. "They can get over it."
Her phone vibrated with Tobias's response.
You want me to come deep into Edenbrook territory for a drink?
She snorted while answering.
Too scared, huh? And here I was longing for your company.
Well hell, Chris. I've never been able to refuse someone longing for my company. I'll be there. Just make sure no one sticks a scalpel in my back.
Don't worry. I'll protect you.
My hero.
Sienna leaned over, her eyes growing larger with each of their responses.
"Oh my gosh! You like Tobias!"
Chris's smile disappeared. "I don't hate him. But like like him? No."
"You're flirting in your texts!" Sienna giggled. "That is so cute. I haven't see you like this since our first year with--" she clapped a hand over her mouth.
"Uh huh." Chris pushed her chair back. "Anyway, I'll see you after work." She patted her friend's shoulder as she walked away. "Don't worry, I'm not upset with you over the name you almost said."
"Yeah, but." Sienna chased after her. "There is also another person who is interested in you."
"If you mean the one I think, then no. He made it perfectly clear this morning that we can't."
"No!" Sienna wrapped a comforting arm around Chris. "Why not?"
"He's still my boss." Chris mumbled. "And he won't abuse that. No matter how often he gives in to temptation."
"I think he's in love with you." Sienna whispered.
"Not enough to be with me." Chris grumbled.
