##PRODUCTION & STAGE !

the track process has already been explored in lucy’s skz-record, but to repeat the main points:

the lyrics were written in collaboration by lucy and han, whilst the track was produced/arranged by all four members of 四RACHA (CB97, KAL1, SPEARB and J.ONE).

lucy had sent guitar riff samples to chan, changbin, and han; pitching the idea of a comeback based around defeating the boss (a concept that would perfectly encapsulate their first full album and summarise their mini eras).

surely enough, within the next couple of days— chan emailed her back two full tracks (what would eventually become han’s i got it and lucy’s god’s menu respectfully) that blew her mind.

but the company initially didn’t consider either track as comeback material— and it seemed only lucy (and perhaps hyunjin) heard their potential.

eventually, the four collectively decide to keep lucy/han’s lyrics for skz-records, but rewrite the official track together and push for the idea that they’re the boss of their own game.

lucy doesn’t have a lot of lines in the official track, mostly adlibs and harmonies. she has one solo rap section at the beginning of the song (cooking a sauce—all of our dishes taste strong) and duets the bridge with felix (just mix everything in— mix, mix).

and you know all god’s menu stages/fancams (of lucy or otherwise) are sexy because the choreography and fits are always on point.

as the video opens up with the unmoving shots of the kids: lucy would be situated in another part of the kitchen (much like han, as they are the track’s two main creators).

in the background of changbin’s shot, lucy can be spotted finger-tasting all of the members’ dishes (this would probably fuel the fandom for a while).

she’s on the construction site for her rap as she’s the lead constructor/manager of the song!

with lucy dancing in the centre, it very satisfyingly transitions to han in the kitchen— as he is also a “lead chef”.

ever seen god’s menu danced by girls? hot as hell. but also, in this universe, we get more seeknow (lucy and lee know) screen time and whoever edited lee know out of the m/v has been long since fired.

the fact we had red-haired lee know and only fifteen seconds of screen time? jail.

anyway, never enough ranting— all of the other scenes are quite similar as most of the kids have kept their lines and shots.

by the second chorus, lucy and lee know (or their stunt doubles) are racing on a motorbike and a sports car respectively whilst seungmin is singing/commentating in a booth.

felix and lucy centre choreography is insane as they mirror each other but harmonise with the sickest expressions on their faces.

and a conjoined ne, sonim! with the twins (lucy and hyunjin) is just *chef’s kiss*, both of them are side by side on the race track whilst two cars zoom pass them.

not sure why this video in particular has way more cuts of other performers (esp. when it’s such a short song)— but let’s just say some are replaced of shots of the kids on construction machines, cooking, experimenting and/or dancing.

##MAKING FILM !

kiki note #1: i'm never getting over this era... everyone is so damn fine! honestly, i got into skz during levanter but they didn't become my bias group (i was more nctzen/army) until go live!

on that note, the aesthetics are immaculate! and lucy getting into a racer uniform for her solo scenes? come on! she's also got a modern jeogori (kitchen scenes) and a black/red hypebeast (construction/function room scenes respectively) fit for the video.

filming starts in the construction yard with lucy's verse: before, it was lucy giving hyunjin tips and advice, but now it's her brother that helps add flair and expression to her dance (there are no words to convey how proud she is of him).

it isn't that she's bad at tongue-twisters but even if she's a rapper, she will nope herself out of that situation (most are just confusing and she is much too impatient to study them)!

lee know: bang chan!

chan: i'm doing an interview right now,

lee know: lucy's ordering!

chan: oh, please take my order then! medium steak, a watermelon juice, half sugar: i also need a bowl of rice—

lee know: mm,

chan: i need kimchi as well, aaand— asparagus. i think she knows what kind i like,

lee know: okay, your funeral!

everyone knows lucy hates detailed orders, it's just chan's luck she likes him more.

jeongin talks about how the nine members now have a "stay" ring with their initials carved on the inside *wipes tear*. he wears his on his pinky, lucy wears hers on a necklace and keeps it close to her heart.

missions:

changbin: i.n's mala flavour

lee know: han's mild flavour

bang chan: felix's charismatic flavour

seungmin: hyunjin's incredible flavour

hyunjin: lucy's sweetness

i.n: lee know's bitterness

lucy: changbin's saltiness

felix: seungmin's spiciness

han: chan's piquancy

hyunjin: i wanna get lucy. *pulls lucy from the envelope* wait, guys, i didn't set this up i swear!

a shot of giddy hyunjin because his mission is almost too easy.

lucy: seo changbin's saltiness? *staff asks why she's laughing* well, i don't wanna say it's easy, but— it's easy.

shots of the twins doing the trendy-but-epic hand illusions that are part of the choreography:

jeongin imitating the twins' "yes, sir" and playing slaps with them to practice for the camera. why so gentle, innie? lucy and hyunjin try to poke fun at the cute boy but really they're just endeared at how embarrassed he is when trying to film his transitions.

welcome to stray kids' kitchen! where lucy is actually just gordon ramsey in disguise and twitter will never let it die.

lucy really does love both halves of puppy & cat school, but kim seungmin... that boy is a menace to society. handing lucy a stack of prop plates to carry nowhere, pranking her with actual spices that make her sneeze: he just loves tormenting his noona for no other reason than to get a reaction out of her (but we all know that it's really because he never wants the girl to feel left out).

but lucy can be a little shit too, such as whenever she's complimenting the boys (example a: admiring lee know's makeup)— unnie, you did such a good job! you made his face bearable to look at!

minho already has his fists up and ready to spar this girl. you wanna go?

felix's cookies: lucy likes them soft, warm and with milk!

whilst everyone's jamming out in the kitchen, lucy's sitting cross-legged on top of a counter getting fed. just hot girl stuff, you know?

shots of lucy licking her lips or wiping the edges with her thumb: she films them with ease but as soon as it's over, she can't stop herself from laughing and cringing simultaneously.

whilst filming in the function room, seungmin and lucy realise they're matching in red. this must have been an oversight! (the two direct their shock at the staff but it was always completely intentional)

the last shoot is on the race track, where the boys are working out to get their muscles pumped for their shots. lucy is wholeheartedly avoiding the scene by idly scrolling on her phone. (everyone knows her guns are the best though, stylists are just biased...)

she's also filming her scenes with lee know and hyunjin! getting into a race car is certainly an awesome experience, but the three are also glad they have their stunt doubles (who they introduce to the camera) to do most of the scary driving.

kiki note #2: in honour of god’s menu lee know, let’s just take a second to appreciate ranga skz. bless.

the rest of the kids watching them on the track are terrified for their lives!

mission time! changbin is bothering lucy, chan and felix who are taking photos. to lucy's luck, changbin wants to be included and she needs to capture his "saltiness". chan is also trying to accomplish his own mission and successfully does so with lucy's help.

chan: make us look charismatic,

lucy: you know i suck at taking photos, but i'll try.

felix (referring to chan): just make us look like batman and robin.

lucy: then that makes me catwoman, and changbin, bane.

salty changbin frowns at a cheering lucy whilst chan hi-fives her as they've also captured felix's charismatic expression.

lucy: i'm kidding! you're very clearly catwoman.

changbin: ya! noona!

during the evening shoot, hyunjin finally remembers to film his mission: oh, right! mine's easy though. look, watch this—

hyunjin: noona,

lucy (exhausted, playing on her switch while she’s waiting for the other members to get dressed): mm,

hyunjin: whatcha doing?

lucy: playing some zelda, why?

hyunjin: oh, i just wanted to say i'm hungry.

lucy (immediately puts down what she's doing to get her bag): you're hungry? i still have snacks leftover, what do you feel like? i have cheetos, almonds— i was gonna save this sausage, but you can have it.

hyunjin: want to half the sausage?

lucy: no, no, it’s okay— you have it. i’ll just order more food later or something.

hyunjin (happy boy with +1 sausage and a completed mission): see, told you. noona doesn’t kid around with food and she’s always sweet with us even if she’s the one who’s hungry.

filming ends with wholesome OT9 dancing!
