Tomorrow is Dakini Day and the anniversary of the birth of Yeshe Tsogyal. We hope that you are able to honor this special day tomorrow.

Yeshe Tsogyal is known as the “Queen of the Dakinis” and is considered the Mother of Tibetan Buddhism. She was a principal disciple and consort of Guru Rinpoche. The Dakini in Tibetan Buddhism represents the dynamic play of energy, and is also known as the “sky dancer.”

“When Emptiness and Awareness are set free, you are nothing if not a Buddha ... there is nothing but the spontaneity of pure potential. There is no other way to dance in the sky.”

Day of the Dakini: Great Bliss (

The great bliss state is the state of reality - where we actually are, right here and now. It is not some elaborate place far away from where we are. The wonderful thing about the Buddha's revelation, the Buddha's insight, is that this reality itself is the great bliss state, that which he first called "Nirvana", the extinction of all suffering, which he came to describe as "bliss void indivisible."

The extinction of suffering and the achievement of perfect happiness and the reality of perfect happiness is the reality of our world. This was the Buddha's good news.

This is what he realized under the bodhi tree, where he first became enlightened. The bodhi tree was the original wish-granting gem tree. To find happiness or peace or enlightenment, we do not have to create some artificial world, a world apart from this world. We have to understand the nature of this world. And the nature of this world, when we do understand it, is revealed to us through our understanding, not from some other person just showing us something. Our own understanding reveals the nature of the world to us as the great bliss state of emptiness and openness.

The nature of this world is superbliss, intertwined and indivisible.

🎃 Behind the scenes Pt.1

Even though there are other divisions and some participants which may not be mentioned above, they’re all invited and have their own parts in this event as well. For examples;

Himari Asami, Hiroshi Sakura, and Suzuran Minazuki (who was on the request of her non-blood-related cousin) were in charge of designing and making costumes with the assistance of three fashion interns; Aimi Miyazaki, Alice Shiroka, and Umi Kobayashi.

Akira Arai, Natsume Kurome, Kururi Yamamura and Queen Card’s team were noted to took part in making props. By the way, Kureha Koizumi was anticipated to participate in this as well but she unexpectedly showed up in the opening show —much to everyone’s surprise.

Reiaki Suzubayashi and Emiko Akaibara showed to work together on helping the cast prepare themselves before entering the stage.

Chiyuri Seiguni was tasked to be the main operator of most special effects on stage via the brief from the real technician, Raiden Otoha since this one had to take his part in the 7th show.

Aiko Mayeda was the D.J. and he got the party started! The 86 band and other musical units associated with other division members were also joined in to provide music for some songs.

Most choreography throughout the shows were designed and coached by Yeong Hajoon, Haruto Morikawa, and Kaede Iwasawa.

The representative of Snowflake Sentinel News, Yoichi Shujo; and the head of a certain publishing-house, Nellie Yukimura were assigned to deliver the details of this event. Please expect more live reports and some tidbits behind the scenes from them.

The foods and drinks in this event were all supplied by the alliance between Luis Kōkyū, Rashaad Young, Harumatsuya shop, and Rikiya farm.

The main sponsors of the previous event are Sigma Inc., Toi Pharmaceutical, and E.L. Medical Co. Therefore, this time it’s the turn of Wonder⇓anD Sound Systems, Arakawa Tech Industries, and the concert venue was organized by the entertainment agency “Kairiku Production” with the cooperation of Queen Card’s league.

For some reason, a certain division was banned from participating —to be specific, it’s Ginza Division. However, Eiji Noguchi and his family were secretly invited because his children wanted to come.

At first Fusao Ise and Queen card were honored to be the MCs (or the hosts) of this event but because the latter had to ‘prepare’ for her own part in the 11th show, Reika Aichi was surprisingly nominated to take over this role once again alongside Fusao.

At the beginning, all the cast were seen wearing some kind of masquerade mask before their first show started.

Though not every division was present in the 3rd show, there were flags with symbols of each team ever participated in the D.R.B. showing on stage.

For whatever reason, Aranai Norikoru was the one who delivered the line “Toki wo (Shout)!” before the chorus “Kakumei wa matte (The revolution has succeeded)!” was sung by all divisions. Well, someone in the cast seemed visibly displeased with how this turned out.

Despite the 6th show being performed by Yuuya Kanata and Yorii Sakuma, the one who advised them on the lyrics was their senior musician, Ren Nakashima, and the music provider for this show was none other than the 86 Band

Before two boys of the 6th show left the stage, the camera caught both Yuuya and Yorii high-fiving Ren who was up for the next show…

Nonetheless it has all the characteristics of a religion:

The veneration of powerful entities - Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Dharmapalas

A rich collection of symbols, folklore, and cosmology

Temples, shrines, holy places and holy statues

Sacred days (e.g. Buddha and Bodhisattva birthdays)

Prayers, ceremonies, ritual tools, devotional practices

Sacred texts and scriptures (sutra, dharani)

Spiritual cultivation (meditation, sadhana, mantra recitation)

A set of tenets and teachings (5 precepts, eightfold path, etc)

Several classes of spirit beings (devas, yakshas, gandharvas, dakinis, pretas and more)

Several schools/divisions (Mahayana, Theravada, Vajrayana, Zen, Chan... to name a few)

Both exoteric and esoteric practices

A clergy - individuals trained and ordained to serve the community

Spiritual authority - gurus/lamas authorised to teach and initiate

Facts (unasked for) and headcanons (of little value and highly questionable) about my future story "My brother is an only child" (it is uncertain whether it will ever see HTML format and consequent publication, but I need to get rid of it a little)

Sakumo and Dai knew each other long before their respective children were born, yet it was a superficial acquaintance that became more close just several years later

there never existed a Maito Clan, all of Dai's relatives were simple villagers, not particularly chakra talented and thus unfit for a ninja's life; Dai became the first to express interest in it

there was a Clan branch of the Inuzuka Clan, the Inuiwa Clan, which, despite a high level of sensorial ability, was mainly employed in ninken training. Distinctive features were the gray fang-shaped paints below their eyes and their preference for wolf packs rather than dogs. Rouna and few others were children of the last of the Inuiwa Clan

Sakumo was born and raised in Konoha, although none of his family were from the Land of Fire; they came from the Land of Iron, specifically the area known as the Iron Mountains (on the border between the Land of Lakes, the Land of Sound, and the Land of Fire)

technically, both Gai and Kakashi still have some, albeit few, distant relatives, though neither of them is aware of it, and the degree of parentage is so meager that it doesn't actually matter at all

unlike Kakashi, Gai always knew who his mother was; indeed, the memory of her has been passed down from Dai's stories, as well as from the distinctive color scheme of green-red-orange in their outfits

Kakashi's mother was widely known throughout Konoha, yet despite the still existence of people who could remember her, no one ever uttered a word as a result of an incident that saw Sakumo implode into a rare tantrum that led many to swear never to mention his beloved partner ever again

everything related to the Hatake Clan, its origins, history, techniques and abilities, as well as any personal lifetime memories, was stored and concealed by Sakumo into intricately sealed boxes that Kakashi found only several years after his father's death; yet he never opened

Gai has a whole collection of photographs of his family but, unlike those of his father, or himself as a child and teenager, few have seen the ones portraying his mother

Kakashi is, through paternal heritage, partially from the Land of Iron. Gai is, by maternal heritage, partially from the Land of Earth. However, only Gai is aware of his mixed ancestry

there are only two people left, Tsunade and Aburame Shigeru, who knew, albeit marginally, Gai's mother

Tsunade and Aburame Shigeru are also the only ones with vivid memories of Uchiha Dakini, Obito's grandmother as well as one of the last survivors of the time of the first two great shinobi wars

Obito was, as a matter of fact, great-grandson of Madara, while Sasuke is great-great-grandson of Izuna

since countless data and reports have been lost years ago much history regarding the Uchiha Clan is still as unclear and confusing as uncertain is whether or not other Uchiha actually still live outside Konoha's borders

on the contrary the actual lineage of the Senju Clan and the Uzumaki Clan has been widely verified to have been reduced to a few people, namely Tsunade is the last of the Senju Clan, while Naruto and Karin are the only two descendants of the Uzumaki Clan

the kinship between Naruto and Tsunade is quite remote and would be 4th grade great-great aunt, while the kinship with Karin and Nagato is 3rd cousin, instead Karin and Nagato were 2nd cousins

although it is not known, practically to anyone, Jiraiya was 3rd cousin to Kakashi and was 2nd cousin with Sakumo

Gai never knew his relatives on maternal side due to the latter's choice, who always rejected to meet him

ironically Jiraiya, throughout his long travels in distant Lands, never learned of his origins, instead he found the Clan of which Orochimaru is an unaware descendant, yet he never had the opportunity to tell them

Tenten and Rock Lee were both orphaned at just a year old; both children of civilians, they have no memory about the tragedy that led to their parents' deaths

the appellative Rock is neither a Clan nor a surname, but rather a name by which the orphanage workers began to address Lee and, over time, became an inherent part of the name itself until it became a whole

similarly, Tenten's name was, originally, just Ten, but throughout her childhood days it was so numerous the occasions when the orphanage workers had to call her or shout it out loud to search for her that, eventually, Ten turned into Tenten and it ended up becoming her official name

unofficially, Tenten, Rock Lee, and Neji share the same surname. Officially, Tenten has no surname, Lee is assumed to be Rock's surname, and Neji is considered a Hyūga

Sakura is the only one on her team who has no relatives, neither immediate nor ancestor, who has ever been a ninja. Her entire family has always been all civilians, making her de facto the one astounding exception

Aburame Shino regards himself as a widower and is unknown, even to his teammates, as to why, when he must or is required, he defines himself as such

no biographical information is available, or disclosed, about the Kazekage's future bride-to-be, whose only certain facts involve her provenance from outside the borders of the Land of Wind

thirty, of men with political power or economic prestige, offered their daughters or sisters as brides, and ten, of Daimyō or Kings from distant Lands, proposed arranged marriages upon offering their daughters or sisters to the Hokage; for a total of forty offers, all rejected or ignored to the utmost concern (as well as objection) of the Congress of Elders of Konoha

Naruto was compelled to pursue specific studies in preparation of his future role as Hokage; among the tutors of such courses figures an Aburame Shujin who claims to have met him when he was too young to be able to remember

all over the Lands there have been whispers and rumors regarding alleged descendants of Uchiha Madara ever since the war ended. Some Lands have engaged in intensive investigations, including the Land of Fire

some corpses of war dead were never found, including that of Hyūga Neji, whose funeral was forcibly held with an empty coffin

Orochimaru disappeared from Konoha for a year, the reasons have never been explained

Break down moment today … sigh

Bella came to my rescue with Sam tho wah they brought sooo many snacks and sat in my room with me and told me about their days and the places that Sam would camp in the blue mountains during covid. Bella observed the peppermint oil - ofc they did - they love nice smells so much. I showed Bella the album I’ve been making for her and they loved it. I told Bella and Sam that they made me feel so much better and Bella said that made them really happy too. Gah I feel grateful. And I feel proud of myself for just finally giving in and admitting I’m not okay right now. Also proud of myself for taking the food crip rave shift. I can’t believe it’s the person I met at firstdraft who I’m working with - the one that was like heyyy friend! Lingshan Hermit: A Superficial Explanation of Repelling

As Buddhists, you must have all heard of repelling practices. In the Vajrayana system, we have the Heart Sutra repelling practice, repelling practices to White Umbrella Deity and Lion-Faced Dakini, and I know many of you do daily repelling practices. Most people understand repelling as blocking some power trying to harm us (similar to a missile defense system), or deflecting it back at the perpetrator. We can't say such an understanding is incorrect. In a sense, it is even right. But repelling has a deeper and broader meaning.

Generally when we speak of repelling, it seems to be for protecting ourselves. But we must be very careful - when we do repelling practices, we must ask ourselves, why are we protecting ourselves? What are we trying to protect? Our practice? Or our precious worldly life? If we hope to avoid disturbances to our life, earn more money in peace, keep our life undisturbed and under control, free of any accidents - then this is absolutely not the purpose of Buddhist repelling practices. Superficially, all our pain comes from the desire to prove and protect the self. If you want to use repelling for self-protection, it's like trying to bathe with mud. Remember, every Buddhist practice aims to demolish the illusion of self. Repelling is no exception. But what we often do is utilize the Dharma for self-validation or self-protection. Someone once asked me why the Dharma protectors he makes offerings to every day don't safeguard his business. This is a very strange question - like asking a doctor why he doesn't maintain law and order. Dharma protectors were never meant to protect your samsaric existence. Their duty is not to make your samsaric life more comfortable, but to constantly remind you of the sufferings of samsara.

In the practice of repelling, we speak of three types of enemies. The first are tangible enemies - people or non-humans who create obstacles for us. Non-humans refer specifically to ghosts and spirits with the power and hostility to harm us. The second are more profound enemies, namely, our greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance and doubt, or any afflictive emotion. The third and most profound foe that we often fail to recognize as an enemy is our grasping at duality.

The first type seems straightforward. We tend to classify anyone who makes us unhappy or conflicts with us as the first type of enemy. But this can be problematic. You may want to shield yourself from anything unpleasant through repelling practices. However, from a practical perspective, without these occurrences, we would have no chance to practice - just as an actor has no stage. As practitioners, we need to experience all sorts of circumstances. If we can maintain right view when encountering anything good or bad - whether we become the President, a listed company's CEO, a prisoner, or an outcast hated by all - we are practicing well. Of course, practice also happens on your commute to work, when you overhear colleagues gossiping about you, even when everything seems satisfactory. If you wish to block out anything uncomfortable, you will be unable to practice. Hence, we should not view these as objects of repelling. Nonetheless, there are tangible enemies who can indeed hamper our practice - they are appropriate objects of repelling. But do not misunderstand obstacles superficially. We often interpret obstacles in a shallow manner. I've had people complain to me about encountering obstacles in their practice. Upon inquiry, the so-called obstacles were just significantly reduced income and impending bankruptcy these two years. From my perspective, that is not an obstacle at all. I even see it as very auspicious blessings. In fact, I feel that the years when everything went smoothly for them were the real obstacles. If your practice leads to a smooth life, most would consider that blessings, but it is actually a subtle, hard to detect obstacle. Therefore, if you want repelling to make your samsaric life more pleasant, to avoid slander, undesirable people, unwanted circumstances, such repelling is useless. You are just fabricating a seemingly wonderful samsaric existence.

Compared to the first type of enemy, the second is far more difficult to detect. In fact, we should be more concerned with whether our greed, anger, ignorance have been repelled. Relative to tangible foes, these intangible enemies warrant more attention. They persist longer and inflict greater harm, in a more concealed manner. Most of the time, we don't even consider them enemies. If your greed starts declining through repelling practices, or is blocked as soon as it arises, that is more profound repelling. Normally when others curse or hex us, we feel those are harmful forces, but we don't really see our own greed, anger and ignorance as the true enduring harm. We basically cannot see how our acts of self-validation sparked by greed, anger and ignorance attract so many external enemies either. We also fail to connect our current suffering to our afflictions. In fact, it is precisely because of our afflictions that we create so many outward foes. We prefer to deal with external enemies. For these invisible enemies constantly harming us, we choose to turn a blind eye. In fact, even those tangible enemies were summoned by our afflictions. If we were free of greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance and doubt, we would have no enemies at all.

On a deeper level, we should also repel our grasping at duality - considered an even more obscure adversary. When we grasp at duality, various afflictions like greed, anger, ignorance arise, prompting actions that plant karmic seeds, thereby perpetuating the drama of samsara. In fact, our first enemy arises from the second, and the second springs forth from the third. It is the progenitor of all foes. It gives rise to the Three Poisons which in turn summon countless tangible enemies. But today, we will unlikely have time to thoroughly dissect this third enemy.

Religious Studies Term Of The Day: Dakini

Hey everyone! Now that the Christmas season is over, it’s back to Buddhism! Today I wanted to talk about a concept that I don’t think is super well known about in Buddhism: the Dakini. Dakini are complex creatures to talk about, but they are a sort of supernatural term that is pretty close to the English idea of a witch, or maybe even a fairy in some sense. They aren’t like a widespread Buddhist idea, but only find themselves in tantric traditions like the Vajrayana Buddhists. In these traditions, sex, whether it be literal or metaphorical, is a pathway to enlightenment, and it requires male and female sexual energy to accomplish that. I’m not an expert so please correct me if I am wrong, but my readings on the subject seem to imply that the Dakini is the source of the female sexual energy needed for the rituals, that she, whether she is a low class woman brought in for the job or an actual supernatural creature summoned for the task.

This term is super vague and flexible, so I have a hard time pinning it down, but a great example of a dakin would be Ma-gcig Lab-sgron, a figure of Tantric Buddhism born in 1055. She is complicated to pin down, as she is a real figure, but also a supernatural one, a person who has many titles and attributes that would take a while to look into, but she might be a good starting place for anyone curious about what a dakini means.
