I've buyed two of the digimon stickers I've made and sell on redbubble and honestly are cuter than I expected.

Also I just wanted to mention how funny it was of Sora to be so focused on Elsa bc of Riku instead of all the parts of the story that are easily paralleled to Sora and Kairi between the siblings like Anna’s sacrifice is even a cold color version of Sora’s and I get pretty emotional hearing Do You Want to Build a Snow Man now bc I can’t hear it without thinking of Sora and Kairi and I think For The First Time in Forever fits them too esp hinting that something has already gone terribly wrong in KH3

You mean when Anna turns to ice vs when Sora fades from existence? The blues vs the oranges in those scenes?

Agree about “Do You Want to Build a Snowman…” Especially in KH3, with Kairi feeling so distant from Sora. Though it’s not like he’s pushing her away per se… kinda. Their dynamic reminds me more of Frozen 2, with Anna (like Kairi) rejecting change and wanting to keep Elsa close to her forever, while Elsa (like Sora) doesn’t want to lose Anna either but keeps rushing ahead to answer destiny’s call and doesn’t initially even realize Anna feels like she’s being left in the dust/losing Elsa.

And while emotionally the sisters stay connected, they ultimately end up living in different worlds… I think you even could argue it represents how Elsa is dead. I mean, she’s not, cause she comes back to life (I heard originally she wasn’t going to, but that was too dark). But she did die. She becomes a spirit and even resembles one at the end all dressed in white, so she lives in the spirit world. Anna is alive, so she doesn’t/can’t follow Elsa, and she takes Elsa’s place in the living world as the Queen…

There is a lot of foreshadowing suggesting Sora may not come back from Quadratum and Riku will choose to stay with him (like a reverse Hercules). If so and if Kairi continues training, she would end up replacing both of them as the Keyblade Master of their generation… I have mixed feelings about that. But food for thought.

Hmm I’ve never really considered any Sora and Kairi-related parallels in “For the First Time in Forever,” but I’m curious what you think. Do you mind elaborating?

Today I have the 02 kids!

Reiko Kiuchi voices both Daisuke Motomiya in the 02 series and Dark Cure Aqua from the Precure 5 gogo movie. What's amusing is that Daisuke is the only bad guy here. lol Further more, Daisuke is pretty much evil Mimi lol. Fun tidbit, V-mon's seiyuu Noda Junko voices a fairy named Harihari Hamu in Hugtto Precure.

For Miyako she actually doesn't share a voice in any magical girl series that would be instantly recognizable. She is the only one too! Her english actor in Kizuna will voice Lana Lang in My Adventures with Superman, but we don'tknow if she'll become superwoman or not. Or if she'll get a magical sequence like Clark did. So I racked my brain which Sailor Scout, Mew Mew, or Precure would fit her best. I was thinking Sailor Venus until Ageha/Cure Butterfly was introduced. She's passionate, outgoing, goofy, but can be really motherly. That reminded me of Miyako. So that's why she's Cure Butterly. (And hey! Adventure, butterflies. It all fits!)

Romi Park voices both Ken Ichijouji in the 02 series and Syrup/ Shiro Amai in Precure 5 gogo! (Yes, we have a lot of Digimon seiyuu in this series. lol I think Milk, Nuts, and Urara are the only ones without a Digimono connection now.)

Iori from the Digimon 02 dub and Lance from the Dokidoki Precure dub are voiced by Bryce Papenbrook. Bryce also voices Cat Noir in Miraculous Ladybug, I already drew Ladybug(Cristina Vee/Meiko) and Cody together. They're saving Paris together!

Hikari from the OG Adventure and Sailor Chibi Moon from the OG Sailor Moon are both voiced by Araki Kae. Hikari is the OG Magical Girl here! Hikari in the tri./Kizuna dub and Sharuru/Kippie from the DokiDoki Precure dub are voiced by Tara Sands. Another dub fairy in Digimon. Haha.

Last but not least is Takeru! Takeru in the Adventure reboot and Cure Princess from Happiness Charge Precure are both voiced by Megumi Han. Takeru even gets a goofy lil' hat in his Magical Girl edition to add to the many goofy hats he has. Congrats teeks!

I know exactly what gifs you’re talking about 💀 I like this one cause it shows the Kairi —> Sora transition slower.

It’s incheresting of the team to purposely draw attention to how similar Sora and Kairi are, in looks and stature, like this. Also reminds me of how in the KH Pilot, I thought this sequence was meant to hint at how Kairi’s heart is inside of Sora’s heart, feeling what he does and giving him strength:

Like I thought the second frame was supposed to be Kairi 💀 So it’d transition from Sora to Kairi to Sora… Maybe it is and that’s why Sora’s hair looks wet/his hair’s flat in these frames even though it’s not in the rest of the scene? But if so, that also draws attention to how similar they look??

Anyway. I just wanna put Sora with his hair straightened next to Kairi for a sec, to really compare this.

have you guys ever discussed the weird sexualization of azula before (specifically in book three iirc)? i also personally don't feel right about katara's fire nation outfit

i agree there’s an uncomfortably mature quality to some of azula’s lines and outfits, as well as the purring voice gray delisle often uses. i have a similar aversion to some of the outfits we see on ty lee. (please avoid making a mistake i made early on in running this blog: NEVER look up images of ty lee without safe search on.) though i didn’t find katara’s fire nation outfit too troubling in the way you’re talking about, actually. although it is a crop top, she is 14 and exposed skin on its own is just a normal kid thing that doesn’t have to carry a weird undercurrent. (i don’t love the way the camera pans up on her after she gets dressed in that outfit for the first time, but that’s the visual shorthand we’re stuck with when a crush is shown only from a boy’s POV, i guess!) and that outfit is unique because we’re supposed to understand that katara is really uncomfortable wearing these clothes that belong to her oppressors, and is thinking of it as a kind of dress-up in order to make peace with it. so it helps for the audience to see that it’s really different from what she normally wears. 

with azula and ty lee, there is something there that isn’t right. and it’s inspired some misogynistic adult fans to draw and write some really horrifying things. this is bad for a lot of reasons, but one big one is that it makes the internet less safe for kids who are fans of the show, when they can stumble upon all kinds of evil shit. and even within the text, this unfair character design does the show a disservice. it makes azula’s character a bit less human and therefore a bit less sympathetic. a child should be able to understand that azula is a kid just like all the other characters and deserves a better life. it’s a bit harder to get that takeaway when the way she talks and dresses is more like someone’s stepmom than an eighth-grade grl. certainly the fact that she’s been forced to grow up quickly is part of her character, but i do feel that there’s a line that’s crossed and these design aspects should have been left out of the show.
