This shitty Harry Potter game has been making my blood boil so let me get personal real quick.

I am not Jewish. This body is not Jewish. Didn't grow up with Judaism, or practicing any of those beliefs.

But for the majority of our life on this Earth, for whatever dumb reason, people believed we were Jewish.

I was beaten to a pulp, made fun of, called names for years on the simple fact that people thought I was Jewish. Teachers would not intercept. No adult would try to stop it.

"They're just expressing their own personal beliefs."

This followed me from when I was about 5 or 6 all the way to my adulthood. I would have everything threatened towards me, people trying to come to my house to hurt me.

Of course over the years they found more reasons to try and hurt me (being queer and disabled for starters). But from the very beginning people hated me because they assumed I was Jewish.

Despite this, I will never fully be able to understand actually living as a Jewish person. I was never Jewish and I don't practice any similar faith.

But when I hear desperate calls for help from actual Jewish people, begging and pleading to not give money to antisemitic bigots who will fund efforts to hurt them, I unfortunately still (on some level, not entirely) understand where they are coming from.

JK Rowling is not the only one you will support if you buy the game. You will support the game devs who share the same exact views.

The only difference between Hogwarts Legacy and donating directly to antisemitic causes is you're getting Nazi Propaganda The Game out of it.

I do not care if this makes you feel bad, because it should.

5 pages of HLVRAI narrative doodles, in which Gordon and Dr Coomer have an interaction pertaining to Dr Coomer's in-canon existential crisis. Trigger warning for that and unreality.

It is early morning when Gordon joins Coomer out on the porch with a cup of coffee. After escaping the hellhole that was Black Mesa, they staying together temporarily. Upon seeing him, Gordon says, "Coomer?" to which Coomer replies, "Ah! Good morning, Gordon! Another day, another dollar, hmm?" Gordon responds, "Yeah, heheh…right, uh, what…are you doing up so early? We don't work at the Black Mesa anymore, remember?"

"Something got you up?" Coomer's expression falls at Gordon's words, and his earlier facade falls into something somber before picking it back up and waving it off, "I thank you for your concerns, Gordon! But you needn't hear the…the ramblings of an elderly mind!" Gordon takes a long swig of his coffee, looking at nothing in particular. "Honestly, after the night I had? What's another?" Coomer considers this offer quietly.

"Gordon…I see a darkness," he finally speaks. Gordon raises an eyebrow at that, "A…darkness? Like, pitch black or, like, evil?" "Nothingness, Gordon," he says. Not quite understanding, Gordon asks, "Oh…where'd you see it?" Coomer looks out upon the world before him, the one that sits abundantly around him, and yet seems more like a mere, single screen of moving pictures before his eyes suspended in a wider expanse of void. "Oh…it's everywhere."

"And I can't ignore it." Picking up his cheery facade from earlier, albeit an imitation of what it once was, he quickly adds, "But…this old chap's lived through worse! We all have now, haven't we…?"

"Can I hug you, Dr Coomer?" The question surprises him out of his thoughts in a way that has Gordon scrambling to explain himself, "I-I mean- It's just an offer! Don't feel obligated! I, uh, you just…looked like you needed one…" Coomer's eyes go soft with a genuine smile, "…I think that would be wonderful, Gordon." Accepting his embrace, he says, "Thank you."

your slugs don't look like the slugs i'm used to, which just look like snails without shells. what's up with that? (i could google it but it's fun to ask questions)

it’s correct that most land slugs you see come from the same stock as the land snails you see! for the ease of language I will refer to all of these molluscs as “snails,” since a slug is just a snail whose shell has evolved to be absent or vestigial (leopard slug pictured has a tiny flat internal shell). there are even semi-slugs with a shell they can’t retract into! these snails all belong to the group Stylommatophora. I don’t really feel like going over all their distinctive traits, but I think most people are pretty familiar with these guys. there are a lot of them and they exist almost everywhere.

veronicellids like mine belong to the order Systellommatophora, a smaller group of snails that I believe evolved to live on land independently from the stylommatophorans. the two orders both make up the superorder Pulmonata, so they’re about as closely related as hedgehogs are to goats.

systellommatophorans comprise the semi-marine onch slugs, the veronicellid slugs, and the carnivorous rathouisiid slugs. all living systellommatophorans have no shells are are commonly called slugs.

however, a relic of their shelled past is still visible on their undersides:

see that little orifice on the right of their belly?

that’s the genital pore. since gastropods’ shells typically coil to the right, their anuses, sexual organs, and breathing holes typically are also always rightwards-oriented. veronicellids’ anuses are towards the tail end (bizarre for a once-shelled gastropod) but also are slightly to the right of center.

leatherleafs might be symmetrical from a top view, but their bellies hide evidence of a time when their ancestors had hard shells to coil up in!
