So many stories are reimaginations of previous works—they are inspired by the novels we have read and loved along the way. They are molded from the events of our lives and the lives of others, and they are written in styles learned through schooling and reading. In this way, originality is difficullt to grasp because we build our worlds around everything that we've processed throughout our lives, whether we realize it or not. So don't sit on that story and worry that it's too similar to something you've seen before! A truly refreshing and original work comes from understanding that we are creations of the world around us, and while we all experience the same things, the way we interpret the world is unique to the indiviual.
