the allergy i am seeing grow up around small talk in any form is troubling to me. do you know how to make friends with people in your physical environment? it typically starts with small talk. do you want to live in community? small talk. do you want to have the type of relationship with your neighbors where you can run over and borrow a battery for your smoke detector when it starts beeping at 10pm? small talk!! do you want leeway from your coworkers when you fuck up something small? you gotta be able to build a relationship and that's small talk, baybeee.

"but i don't need friends and i don't care about community!" okay, lone ranger, what about the people in your community who need you? "but i have social anxiety!" me too, bud! we simply must soldier on. making up lists of questions to ask people helps. and people are predisposed to be generous, i've found. even if you make some kind of mistake, what is this but the natural give and take of human interaction? nobody is perfect.

you were not put on this earth to live by yourself and then die. you need people and people need you. treat those around you with curiosity and generousness of spirit and you will gain so much goodwill in return.

reading a fucking book. i beg of you.

in a time of knowledge suppression is it your duty to arm yourself with knowledge.

read about americas occupations in the middle east.

read about 9/11 from outside of america and see how they inflicted senseless harm and violence to countless amounts of people and have been suppressing your rights for the past 2 fucking decades.

read about any of the countless wars from the past 30 years. especially from a civilian's. and the victims and survivors' perspective. listen to the horror stories and do not plug your fucking ears as to what your country is doing.

and read about fucking gaza and palestine and keep up with what is happening no matter how "sad" or "uncountable" you might get.

dont look away from this.

you dont have the right to be comfortable during countless active genocides.

if you're knowledgeable, you're powerful, and our current state doesnt fucking want that.

you have the power to change things if you open your eyes and scream to the world.

wake the fuck up.

I think perhaps I try too hard sometimes. Or am too hard on myself.

Like I’ve been trying to make everything perfect. Or focusing too much on my failures.

But I can focus on the good things too. And focus on what I’m doing right. And just relax and stop worrying so much about what I’m doing wrong so much that I can’t see what I’m doing right.

I love her and want to do everything for her.

But that doesn’t mean it’s what she needs or wants necessarily.

Yes she wants all of my love and my devotion.

No she does not need me to spend every second trying to optimize how I care for her.

Sometimes she just wants me to relax, or her to relax, and even if I feel I can’t do anything or am doing bad, she really just is okay relaxing and doing nothing but enjoying each other’s presence.

I’m going to read up on the 5 love languages again and other things to help my mindset. I’ve been slacking.

I love her and am thankful for her every day, without fail 💜
