the elemental witches are finally done with the air edition; Winduri!

Lore and design notes below!

So just like the Harpix quest a witch looking to become a Windury has to obtain a Harpix feather through one of the challenges and present it to the source of Harpix. Unlike fairies however, witches usually work more closely with the elemental companions of each quest (in this case the sylphs). Witches need a gift from their elemental companions to add to their uniform in order to handle the ethereal power bestowed by the elemental quests. Witches becoming Winduri get a Sylph's egg talon. These are the small claws that develop on a sylph's thumb in the egg as a help to crack the egg to get out (like a chicken's egg tooth). They usually fall off soon after hatching but are kept as a memento by sylph families. They lend a drop of Endless Storm magic for the witch to build on. The elemental witch forms still influence the witch’s biology, so here Lucy, who has strong Harpy heritage has very large wings, feathered ears and a feather tail in addition to stronger talons on her feet. Icy is also strongly aligned with the air element biologically and has facial/ear feathers.

The look of the Winduri's uniforms are often similar to whatever the Witch’s already existent uniform is based on, but it’s not a one to one. The wings in this form have small talons on the wings' thumb joints. The uniform also features wrappings on the legs/feet, a sleeveless shirt and the harpix feathers displayed somewhere on the outfit. There are swirling trails of wind attached somewhere near the harpix feathers that will drape around the witch like cloth. The patterns of witch's wings often mimic real birds, fairies in harpix are often less based on reality. in specific, the trix are all based on owls, Icy is based on a Snowy Owl, Stormy on a Great Horned Owl and Darcy on a Barn Owl (becuase even tho i love them barn owls are the creepiest lmao). Lucy is based on a swan because I love to include little ballet references in her designs (swan lake), and Selina is based on a Crow!

What separates how similar Harmonix-Cosmix are to Magic Winx-Enchantix? Magic Winx was also pretty uniform and Enchantix had a similar flowery look

Shapes mainly lol

In the first form, there are shorts, skirts, different necklines and accessories.

Bloom has a turtle neck, Stella has a 1 shoulder top, and Musa amd Aisha do too, but the bottoms are different and Aisha’s has a wrap around bit included and metal accents, Flora has a corset with a side skirt, there are gloves, gauntlets, bracelets, there are wedges, heels built into the shoe, and heels that have the platform separate from the shoe, etc etc

Magic Winx has a similar look all together, ie club clothes, and they have some set things such as an arm piece or arm accessory, and heels

Enchantix, different shapes again. Bloom has an empire waistline dress, Flora also has an empire waistline style dress but the cut and layering is different, skirts are common but the shapes are all different like with Musa’s bubble shape skirt, Aisha’s with the cascading petal shapes along the trim, Stella’s separate petals, layers are different, coloring style is different, hair styles are more intricate but distinct, foot things are varying heights and have different wraps, etc

It has some set things like magic Winx, ie traditional fairy idea with within western Eurocentric nature stuff, gloves, a hairpiece, the foot decorations, necklace attachment to act as a fairy dust bottle

But they all have different shapes and silhouettes and most importantly, they’re MUCH more individualized

You can’t put all of the outfits together for enchantix or magic Winx and break it down to a set shape the same way you can with the post s5 stuff

Shoutout to Nickelodeon for doing that to make it more “cohesive” in an attempt to homogenize the girls for the sake of toy sales. It sucked and it didn’t work😌

I am a Bloomix defender to an extent though those are the most individualized the girls have been in a WHILE and I’m a slut for decorative armor

coz im bored. worst to best

Season 7 - too much filler. its so childish. goddamed swan. really hurts to watch all the way through. also i dont like that their voice actors dont really match (no hate to them) also techa sounds so bored when she says techna, fairy of technology.

season 8 - i hate the artstyle. also too much padded stuff like the unpacking of the band equipment, the cosmix transformation, the spEcialiSts sequence. at least icy got a backstory finally, 7 seasons too late.

season 6 - i love how bloomix looks. transformations take too long. wand useage is meh. mythix bleh except techna's wings are gorgeous. i do like selina as a charachter but the trix in this season are meh. last 5 episodes are hard to get through.

season 5 - hooray anti pollution message. hootay trix are here! harmonix is gorgeous. musa's mom and nabu shd have come back. i know musa's decision is good and mature and all but honestly i hate that they teased it and just didnt do it. even daphne got to come back "to life"

season 4 - roxy slay. first half is a little slow and boring, but second half is buckwild i love it. the extra wings for believix is eh. also ogron wasting the black gift honestly, i like it. let aisha be angry. but they didnt let her kill him which is sad to me. shd have shoved the lily into his face as he died.

season 1 - establishes charchters, good character driven plot. how tf did bloom get into alfea without money or a spot there? faragonda i know you are the headmistress but she is a stranger who showed up out of nowhere. you should be more suspicious. aisha isnt here :(

season 2 - AISHAAA I LOVE YOU SO MUCH that is all

I was thinking about how I always call s5 Aisha's season, and now I'm thinking about Winx but the main character changes every season

I think I'd leave season one mostly alone, but at the end I'd have Bloom make a choice to give her part of the Dragon Flame back to Domino's dead magical core. Daphne took it from Domino and gave it to Bloom, because the ancestral witches were gonna steal it and Daphne wanted Domino to be eventually revived. The reason it's a big choice is because Bloom is the fairy of the dragon flame, there is a chance is she isn't actually magical, and that the dragon flame was just loaning it's power to her. Bloom chooses to break Domino's curse, reviving it's dying core, and restoring fire magic to it's proper state all around the dimension (like when the pillars or heart of all oceans were fixed. Planet cores affect more than just the planet but are usually connected to all forms of whatever it is, which is why Domino falling fucked everything up everywhere) instead of choosing to prioritize herself and her dreams, because themes, and turns out! Bloom does have magic! She's the fairy of dragon's fire, because having strong magic foisted on to you usually works like a Pokemon evolutionary stone

After this, Bloom doesn't have the dragon fire, it's safely in the core of Domino where it is ABSURDLY HARD to extract, so Darkar and Valtor will have just about zero interest in Bloom specifically

Idk what to do with season 2 because it would be really easy to make it about Aisha, but also really easy to make s3 about Aisha and I wanna give everyone equal screen time as the main girl™

Season two being mostly about Aisha because it's her introduction seasons does make a lot of sense tho. The season also focuses a lot on Musa, who is her bestie. So it would be like how s1 is mainly about Bloom and also focuses on Stella the second most. Of course each girl gets her own time in the spotlight but Aisha would takeover main character and Musa would take over main supporting character

Then it just makes sense that it's Tecna's time to shine, because we're doing all the more active personalities as protagonist first. Tecna does get absolutely fucked in s3 by literally being sent to hell prison soooo fair and vaild. Valtor could takeover Zenith instead, because it's not like he uses the mermaids for anything. I think it would be cool if Valtor was artificial life made of a piece of all the elemental magica, dragon flame, water dragon, ect, so to defeat him you literally have to pull him apart. Bloom does this by stealing his fire, Aisha could also do this by grabbing the water. They'd all have to just pull. Tecna is the one that figures this out, and most of the elements are covered by the other girls, and the problem of air come up. Neither Tecna nor Musa can really control air, so the season finale is spent with Tecna trying to find a way to pull that part away so they can literally tear Valtor apart

After that it gets significantly harder. Like s4 is gonna be a lot about Bloom no matter what because it's her home, but I can also put Flora in there because Earth's magical core is, earth, so Flora could revive it

We're gonna have to start throwing shit out of order. Idk what s8 is about but cosmix and that theme is very Stella, so that can be mostly about Stella, and Musa :((( idk girlie. I don't think any of the seasons can be easily re written to make her that main character

Stella, Fairy of the Sun and Moon

Shining Sun, thanks Nick. I really wish the show went into her lunar side more, as I am a Moon Girlie. She's also Cosmix because sun and moon connected to cosmos.

I decided to make her outfit more revealing. I'm at the point where I think that's more visually interesting than just covering it up. I think modesty is fine, that was also preference of dress until I've started gaining more confidence to wear more revealing clothes. But I feel like the way it's done in the later seasons of Winx, and here, just kinda adds a modesty long sleeve and leggings under their outfits, and it's kinda boring. So I made them thigh highs instead, and also everything is super angular because that's kinda my art style. (It took me... 9 (?) years of seriously drawing to consciously recognize that).

(I also had to hastily slap on my signature after I had cut her out.)

Winx Club - Draconix

I have now finally got around to doing the girls Draconix forms (Formally and idiotically named Bloomix) and this time, the girls will have actually gained the form from actions that are actually brave and noble instead of bull crap like backflips. The girls lost their powers (Bloom included) thanks to the combined powers of The Trix and the Ancestral Witches using the Whisperian Crystals. The Ancestral Witches in my version have been the masterminds behind all the actions of the series, so that The Trix could get steal parts of The Dragon Flame (Which they originally tried to do with Bloom but managed to get when Valtor was destroyed because he was made from The Dragon Flame), The Shadow Phoenix, and The Leviathan in order to release them from their prison in The Obsidian Circle. However, because Bloom's power is born of the inextinguishable Dragon Flame, but Bloom still lost her ability to transform and her magic is weak (Like when she tried to fight the Trix in episode 2). But with that small spark of magic Bloom had, she heard the voice of The Dragon Flame telling her to share the power with her friends and they would unlock a new and ultimate form.

The girls will be having color swaps from their normal colors that I gave them because of how they are going far beyond their normal powers. Also, they will be given necklaces that have their Enchantix fairy dust bottles (Though some will be recolored to fit their new looks). Lastly, the girls earn their Draconix forms in the reverse order they did for Enchantix, meaning Bloom earns hers first and Aisha earns hers last. I did this not only as a way to honor Enchantix, but also because of how Bloom should've earned it first due to her power actually being rooted in The Dragon Flame. Aisha is last because of how her powers are rooted in water and it's harder to connect with the flame.

Bloom

For Bloom, her form received very little changes from her original form in the show. I added a heart onto her armor, a red gem stone onto the center of her waist, made her blue deeper to be more similar to the blue you'd actually see in a flame, made her hair a darker red, gave her different makeup, and she has her Bloomix prototype wings. Bloom's look in this is the main reason I wanted to have the girls do a color swap. The red color she has for her hair in this form would clash with the color red. This is a case where I don't mind her main color being blue because it is a deeper and slightly purple-ish blue and her hair is just so GORGEOUS.

Bloom earned hers when she traveled to the frozen dead planet of Domino, her birth planet, to try and see if maybe some of The Dragon Flame was still lingering on the planet. When she finds it, she is told she can't restore her or her friends powers with it but that it would allow her to bring back her birth parents and the population of Domino back from the dead, as well as the planet itself and even Daphne. Unfortunately, this would also allow The Ancestral Witches to steal more of the power and be unstoppable. So Bloom not only gives up the change to meet her birth parents, restore her planet, and bring her sister back to life, but also uses that spark she found to blow up Domino. That would keep The Trix and The Ancestral Witches from getting any more of The Dragon Flame's power. This was an emotional and traumatic thing for Bloom to do. Truly brave and noble, which earns her Draconix.

Tecna

Tecna's changed quite a bit. Outfit design-wise, she's still the same but it's purple with green accents instead of blue. I gave her a new hairstyle because of how I used her official Bloomix hair for her Sirenix form. I wanted her hair to be short but still fabulous, not to mention I gave her hair the coloring of her Cosmix form, sparkly highlights included. Not to mention, I used her prototype Bloomix wings, which go better with the outfit. Her individual dragon was a pain in the ass to do but I'm pretty proud of how I managed to make a technology themed dragon.

The way Tecna earns her Draconix is that Selina released a virus from The Legendarium to attack Zenith, the heart of all tech in the magical universe. This virus is so dangerous that it wouldn't only destroy the tech on Zenith but all the tech in the magical universe. In order to stop it, someone would have to go into the digital universe to stop it. The problem is that it feeds off technology and therefore no one on Zenith can fight it off and only people from Zenith have the intellect to navigate through the digital universe. Therefore, it's up to Tecna to go into the digital world and defeat the virus using her physical skills and intelligence. The danger is great because she is still more likely to die without her powers. She nearly loses her life but at the last minute, defeats the virus, which leads to her getting her Draconix.

Flora

Flora's look, apart from her hair and wings, has remained the same because of it's mostly green with pink accents, so it's different from her standard pink. I gave her, her Dreamix wings because I feel they actually go with the look better, and the fact that I've already used her Bloomix wings for her Enchantix and her Bloomix prototype wings for Helia's Believix. As for her hair, since I gave her, her Bloomix hairstyle for her Believix (Since I wasn't intending on doing Bloomix). I used the hairstyle of Sibylla, which goes against Flora's standard hairstyle where her bangs never change. I absolutely ADORE how she turned out. Along with her pink plant-themed dragon.

As for how she earns her Draconix, her planet, Linphea is under a curse than causes destructive weather and is making the plants die. This causes the population of Flora's planet to become deathly ill. With her powers gone, Flora's not effected and is now the only hope for her planet because of her knowledge of plants and her potion-making. Under MASSIVE stress, she has to create a potion to break the curse before Linphea is completely destroyed and everyone from Linphea dies, including her sister, Miele and her mothers (Yeah, Flora and Miele were raised by lesbians). Her anxiety is very high and she has a breakdown from her frustration. With the support of Helia, she pulls herself together, creates the potion, and breaks the curse. Life is returned to Linphea just in time and the population is saved from their near death. This causes Flora to earn her Draconix.

Musa

Musa's look was given a major recoloring with it being red with gold accents instead of purple, so there you go Musa in red stans. I did that not just because of her original color being red, but also because red and gold, from my understanding, are important colors in China and Musa is East Asian coded (Specifically Chinese). I also added chopsticks and gave her, her prototype Bloomix wings. Not to mention different make-up. I also love how I made her dragon out of music notes and sheet music.

Musa earns hers in a kind of dark way. She learns about a mystical object that can bring back the dead, which means she could bring back her mother, something she wants more than anything. Unfortunately, it comes at the cost of sacrificing the life of the person she hates most (Darcy). She came close to doing it until Aisha and Nabu came to stop her. She was still planning to do it decided not to because she knows her mother couldn't want to live with the fact that she was alive because someone else had to die. Instead, Musa smashes the object so that no one could use such an unethical magical object, breaking down into tears before earning her Draconix, after which, Aisha an Nabu give her all the hugs.

Stella

Stella's look changed quite a bit with the different coloring and her hairstyle. I absolutely HATE her stupid side ponytail hairstyle, especially that little one. Her original hairstyle looked ridiculous and I absolutely despised it. I went with a new hairstyle that is more elegant and made her look like a goddess. I even decided to have her hair be platinum blonde in this form as a way of her embracing her lunar side some more. I also went with a new color combination with her main color being a deep purple to represent the space, the orange and gold to represent the sun, and blue and silver to represent the moon. It helps show her equal sides solar and lunar. I also used her Bloomix prototype wings, which are so gorgeous. I really love how she turned out, not to mention using a two-headed dragon to show off her solar and lunar powers. People forget she has lunar powers and not just solar powers, so I wanted to make that very clear here.

As for how Stella earns her Draconix, her planet is being blocked by a red blood moon eclipse, which makes everyone on her planet powerless, both solar and lunar fairies. If it's not undone, her people will die. Stella won't, due to the fact that she lost her powers. The only one who can help is Chimera. Stella refuses at first, due to everything Chimera put her through. Stella has to let go of her grudge against her archnemesis for the sake of her people. They end up having a heart-to-heart where Chimera shares her insecurities about not feeling good enough and how her father abandoned her and the two make amends. With the two of them, they managed to save Solaria and not only does Stella get her Draconix, Chimera earns her Enchantix. Chimera is then given a royal pardon for her past crimes and is now considered a hero.

Aisha

Aisha's design went through quite a few changes, particularly with her hair. I loved the hairstyle she had for Bloomix (Though I hated the coloring they gave her) but I wanted to do something else. I wanted to give her some braids while also keeping the poofy look of her official hair. This suggestion was actually made by my girlfriend, @keeloves. I really ADORE how it turned out. As for her coloring, I went with pink because of her morphix powers and blue accents for her water powers. She, of course, has her Bloomix prototype wings. Her look is my personal favorite of the Draconix looks.

Out of all the girls, she was the hardest to figure out how to earn her Draconix. But thanks to @tiredcloudd and iloveffoxy2021, who I know from the private Union of War Discord server, I managed to figure it out.

Selina has released a creature from The Legendarium, a sea serpent that in ancient lore terrorized Andros and many other oceans many eons ago. It was known as The Blood Serpent because of all the genocide it had caused. Originally, it was stopped by King Neptune's sword. The Blood Serpent went on a rampage on Andros and had devoured several of the Andros royal guards, as well as several of the merpeople royal guards. Aisha can't stand to see her world in such a horrible state, giving her PTSD to when Valtor attacked it. Her childhood friend, Anne, comforts her, but it does very little to ease her worry. Her father tries to use Neptune's Sword (Which was gifted to the Andros royal family) but the sword won't allow it. The sword itself is an entity of sorts and chooses who may wield it. Aisha then tries to grab it and it allows her to use it. She runs off to battle The Blood Serpent, along with the help of her friend, Anne (Who is a Specialist).

The two battle the serpent (Which Selina is able to psychically connect with because of how she's the witch of reptiles and myths) and are struggling even with the sword. Anytime they got close enough to the serpent to use the sword on it, it would just dive under the water. Aisha knew that because the sword chose her that none of the merpeople would've been able to to wield its power, so she knew she had to dive underwater to fight the creature. Unfortunately, because she didn't have her powers, it meant she could no longer breathe under water or swim as fast as she normally could, which put her in more danger. She managed to do battle with the serpent but was running out of breath. With her last breath, she destroyed the serpent before passing out. Anne tried to dive under to save Aisha (Because the merpeople were all very exhausted and weak from battle) but she couldn't find her. Anne returned to the surface, heartbroken. However, Aisha had earned her Draconix because of her brave actions and noble selflessness, which brought back her ability to breathe underwater. She emerged from the ocean in an EPIC way. She's praised and hugs Anne, who was so happy Aisha was alright that she cried.

Winx Club Nostalgia!

The First Dub You Were Introduced To:

The Nickelodeon Dub when it started off as four 45-minute animated specials with the first three being just a shorter/reanimated version of season 1 with the last special being extremely shortened/reanimated for season 2. Season 3 was kept in full, but re-dubbed.

The Dub You Favor The Most:

Personally, I enjoy the 4Kids dub! I know it's flawed and it made a few changes, but there's this certain charm to it that I adore very much as well as the voice acting and the soundtrack. It's very nostalgic and special to me!

Which Character Is Your Favorite?:

I can't choose one! There are so many enjoyable characters! Though, I'd have to pick Bloom, Stella, and Flora. Bloom is a good protagonist who went from trying to find her identity to becoming a proud fairy who protects those she cares for! Stella is a diva princess with attitude, but she is always there for her friends no matter what! Flora is a sweetheart through and through! I love her! She cares for all life including plants...she is the fairy of nature!

One Thing You Think This Show Can't Be Without:

The fashion! If there is one thing these girls know, is how to look good while doing good! I love the art style and their many MANY outfits are so beautiful! There are days when I look at my wardrobe and think "I wish I had one of their outfits!" They have many iconic looks! So eye-catching and astonishing!

Favorite Season?:

I'm stuck between 2 and 3. Season 2 gave us the one and only Layla/Aisha, The Pixies, Musa's first stage performance, Charmix, and The Dark Bloom arc. But, then there's season 3.....SEASON 3!!! That season gave us more world building, multiple arcs, the continuous threat of the fan-favorite villain Valtor, and ENCHANTIX! I love them both equally!

Any Other Thoughts?:

Roxy (the new Winx girl from season 4) deserved more than just one season and should've been more involved in the group!

I like the inclusion of The Pixies but I'm not too keen on watching the PopPixie spinoff show.

The Specialists are enjoyable, but I wish there was more to them besides being love interests for the girls. I would've liked more lore into their work as being potential Heroes without having magic.

I don't know why season 8 decided to give the cast a whole new art style that doesn't capture much of what made Winx Club so unique. Also, the look of The Specialists is DEFINITELY a downgrade in that regard!

I appreciate how even though the animation and art style got changed around, the music remains to be good and fun to listen to.

I wish we had more lore with the students from Cloud Tower and WHY there seemed to be this Witches vs. Fairy tension in the first place!

I am very upset that the Netflix live-action adaptation hardly gave us any iconic outfits OR good-looking fashion from transformations. How do you do Winx Club WITHOUT the fashion?!

I didn't finish the other spinoff, World of Winx but I like to think that it takes place when the girls are much older taking care of who they can save while they star in a television talent show undercover.

Conclusion:

After all these years later, this show still holds a place in my heart and it's something I love looking back at whenever I feel like watching something nostalgic. It's been 20 years since the show aired and the fact that it's STILL relevant makes me so happy! These fairies deserve the world....well, they deserve the whole Magic Dimension!
