hello and welcome to my conspiracy theory of why i think chip zdarsky is actually lana del rey

ok so chip zdarsky wrote batman: the knight aka one my favorite comics of all time. and batman the knight is aesthetic as fuck

now if you haven’t read the comic, this comic is about a young bruce wayne travelling the world and learning the skills it takes to be batman. along the way, he meets minhkhoa khan who later becomes ghostmaker and they train together. a lot. oh and also travel the world together. anyways a big plot point is that bruce wayne and minhkhoa khan are grappling with choosing their respective missions or each other because they’re gay for one another

so while they are figuring all this bs out, they are using pseudonyms for reasons and THEIR PSEUDONYMS ARE JACK AND ANTON (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT)

anyways i’ve seen a lot of people say that this comic reminds them of a lana del rey song, specifically cinnamon girl. there’s not that many ao3 fics about this comic specifically but of the 20 or so, i’ve seen at least three that reference cinnamon girl by lana del rey. so i was listening to that song because it is fucking ethereal and somehow ended up looking up the credits for that song. AND. THE GUY WHO PRODUCED IT’S NAME IS JACK ANTONOFF.

so this basically confirms that chip zdarsky is actually lana del rey who wrote batman the knight inspired by her song cinnamon girl and as a tribute to cinnamon girl, named the two main characters jack and anton after the producer of cinnamon girl.

When I read Clockwork Princess for the first time (I was 13yo I think) I was so incredibly traumatized by the epilogue that I wrote an alternate ending and went into full denial of the original one.

If anyone asks, I'll translate it and post it on here. It's a bit cringe but it's what my 13 year-old brain thought would make Will Herondale the happiest, and I can't argue with that logic

Alright, I guess it's time to start brushing the cobwebs off tumblr. CW/TW talk of (non-substance) addiction ahead.

We've been alright. Not the best, in all honesty. What started off as a benign hyperfocus on critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 that we were keeping pretty good tabs on kind of all of a sudden spiraled into a really awful addiction. We've been aware that we have a tendency to fall into addictive patterns in the past (we had a gambling/gacha addiction that lasted us for several years and lost us a few thousand dollars during that time), so our partners at least knew about it and have been helping keep tabs to make sure we were doing alright. But.... god. Literally one day of not being careful was enough to drag us back into addictive behavior, and we've been dealing with some pretty severe withdrawal symptoms because of it.

The worst of it seems to have passed now, though, and hopefully that means I can now go back to doing things I enjoy. Spending time with my friends, reconnecting with my community, and, yes, back to scrolling through tumblr aimlessly when I'm bored out of my mind.

I'm very grateful for my partners who have been so patient and understanding and helpful through this whole thing, and my longtime online family who have very much been my emotional rock while I struggled with video game addiction. I love you all so much.

Anyways, it's good to be back.
