Another note on my chronology that I’ve only just found the words for:

For convenience sake, I mostly ignore publication dates and treat it as if Watson is writing many of the stories in real time - otherwise I have to try to account for the fact Holmes regularly comments on stories he couldn’t possibly have read, not least because he’s “dead” at the time that Watson ‘actually’ wrote most of them.

Hell, the only stories he could have possibly even read Watson’s drafts for are A Study In Scarlet and The Sign Of Four.

Paradoxically however, if there’s a reference to previous stories (in publication order) that’s a bit too on the nose, I will call upon the fact Watson is writing in retrospect and chalk it up to self-promotion. (It’s weird that Holmes lists the last six stories you wrote in more or less the order they were published, Watson, and you owe me two nickels.)

bwehehe!!!!! my favorite album art of them all wld probably be sgt peppers and oasis's be here now!! I'm a big fan of album art that either vaguely reminds me of contemporary art or ones that kind of go Hey let's see how much bullshit we can throw on the cover and both of those kind of fill those quotas. they both have this odd quality where the more u look at em the more interesting things u find hidden in the background .... anyways erm shoutout 2 the photoshopped car in the pool on the oasis one and the doll to the far right that says "meet the rolling stones!" on sg pep

this ask did make me go look at all the fronts to my cds (they do all generally have fronts-- some of them just have the names, minimal art, and general info like the producers/label/songs/etc-- since it does help figure out, like. which album yr listening to / what side to put it in on. i used 2 burn cds when i was like 9 and id forget to sharpie the right side a lot and it Was Not Fun) and I can honestly say my favorites are mcr's danger days and, again, oasis's be here now!!!!!!!

#i am so bad at taking pictures forgive me lmao #thank u mr fudge i appreciate u enabling me <3 #yea so cds are super fucking cool considering them as technology. like #theyre similar to records in that you have a side thats 'read' by an external machine (and if you damage that side-#then you can experience skipping or audio damage) except unlike records u cant exactly flip over a cd. its all on there already!!!#so u have one side thats not read by a player that you can smudge to ur hearts content (thats hyperbole)#some artists put cool designs on the fronts some dont. most do put Something There to designate it as Not The Part #With The Tunes #oh fun fact!! so the white album had too many songs on it so they had to release it with 2 vinyls to fit all of em #so u had like. vinyl 1 side a and b and vinyl 2 side c and d iirc #and youd think. oh compact disk they can probably put all 90 minutes on one cd right?#they didnt! they have 2 cds in there with the exact same split in songs that the 2 vinyls had. and i appreciate the consistency #even if it gives me a big clunky case that doesnt fit in w the rest of em > - < '#oh well! makes it easier 2 find!!!!

actually one last thing. when I was like 16-20 I thought I was soooo cool for being able to draw faces without guidelines and it’s like. Bud. Buddy. Broski. the characters eyes are so far apart you couldn’t even tell they’re on the same face

#makes since I love code lyoko as a kid and the proportions on that show were wild #but they were pretty much consistent because the artists knew the fundamentals #they were able to have short hands because they did the work #im admittedly a lazy artist mostly because of my chronic fatigue #so shorthand’s r very important to me especially when it comes to comics n deadlines #however. one big thing abt me n my art that’s glaringly bad is #that until like last year I didn’t understand shapes and forms #I still have trouble drawing boxes #you can’t do shorthand’s that mostly require fudging with shapes and form #if u can’t do that 😭#at least for me #everyones art style has an end goal #I wanna draw comic/cartoony art with relatively realistic proportions #all of my main inspo actually comes from animated adaptions of comics #static shock btas jlu etc spiderverse does it the best but I can’t get Bruce timms style outta mine #also naruto. naruto was such a big influence for me #code lyoko for better or worse #x-men evolution probably has one of the biggest besides spiderverse #Fuck that one YouTuber kiwibyrd? I tried so hard to copy their style as a kid it never took #but now after doing fundamentals #my artstyle can kinda resemble theirs when they were the age I was when I started watching them #that was a hard sentence. my fault 😭#hell even Steven universe for its use of shapes and shit inspires mine #idk what I’m rambling abt now #but yeah so many different influences. all of these come from ppl studying and understanding fundamentals in someway #when I was younger my main fear of fundies was because I thought I was gonna lose my style. styles change #styles change. draw the fucking turnaround and consistency gets easier on god 😭

Chocolate peanut butter fudge! I think this is my grandmother’s writing, but I’m not quite sure. I’ll tag it as hers for the time being.

Recipe transcript:

Choc. peanut butter fudge

2 C. gran. sugar

2/3 C. milk

3 squares bk. choc.

1 C. marsh. whip

3/4 C. peanut butter

1 Teas. vanilla

Combine sugar, milk, and choc. in heavy saucepan. Cook over med. heat, stirring constantly over until mixture boils. Cook to soft-ball stage (234*) with-out stirring. Remove from heat and add marshmallo, peanut butter and vanilla. Stir until blended. Pour into buttered 9x9 pan. Cool, cut in squares.

MMMMMMMMM GOOD THINGS ARE BEING SAID.

Martin consistently stutters, consistently allows himself to build up to a point where his frustrations have nowhere to go other than an abrupt spurt of anger that can almost seem out of character to him in the beginning but are, in fact, intrinsically linked to who he is as a person. He sidesteps his own comfort in favour of others' and expresses his feelings in providing for those he cares about. Simple gestures, like a cup of tea. And later (avoiding spoilers) Bigger Gestures.

Martin has convinced himself he does not matter and attempts to make himself small as a result. Be kind, be gentle and offer comfort to those around him in an attempt to convince them to let him stay. Historically he's been an emotional punching bag for others. His mother, then Jon- you can assume later Lukas too (though in a very different manner).

It's not until much later he starts expressing himself in more honest ways (i.e. post Lonely). He admits his faults and asks for things. Allows his anger and frustration to bubble up organically. Isn't as afraid to express these things as now he's confidant he won't be left in the dirt as a result of taking up space. "I am Martin Blackwood and I am not lonely anymore."

English tea is the most inoffensive thing to offer someone as a source of comfort. The smallest and most effective way to provide in a workspace that he has very little idea to what he's doing in thanks to fudging the records to get in in the first place. The mugs may as well have "Please keep me, I'm helping, see?" written on them. So yes. Yes and Thank you.
