THE ALTERNIAN MULTICULTURAL PRESERVATION LIBRARY SYSTEM
Otherwise just known as TAMPS, or “that bunch of weirdos who are obsessed with imperially suppressed cultures and languages”
Run by Hazard Ailaht and based in Selatak, this library system is primarily dedicated to maintaining circulation of texts written in languages besides Imperial standard. It also encourages more books in those languages to be written by supporting the authors in question with their research.
Such a goal would be borderline treasonous if the library didn’t have another aim: the preservation of texts written by ancient bloodlines and the glorification of said highblood bloodlines that often carried out the very campaigns to homogenize the empire.
It is a contradictory and controversial institution that draws both praise and criticism from its patrons, but is often too handy for either of its key audiences to pass up using.
All trolls who visit its branches are expected to obey the strict no-culling rule the system has, or they will never be invited back after they are escorted off the campus by security drones.
Like most Alternian libraries, access to rare and controversial texts is often dictated by caste, but the librarians have been known to be susceptible to bribes. A stealthy troll could sneak past a dozing archivist and steal forbidden texts, if the drones don’t catch them first.
A library card is easy to obtain even for the lowest hues on the spectrum; a one-time fee of five caegers will allow even a maroon to check out ten books from the public shelves for two weeks at a time. Higher castes get longer loan times and more advanced access levels; they guard their library cards well, but if someone were to ‘borrow’ one, they could certainly put it to use.
When questioned why such an institution is managed by a mere cerulean who sometimes works the front desk himself like a common lowblood, Hazard Ailaht had only this to say in an interview: “A rat can be king if all the lions are too busy preening. Now go away.”

Tuuya hates Rhomox deeply but y'know, they ate him centuries ago, so he's not an active problem anymore.
Maidel at least doesn't have to deal with Doroch for the moment...until I finally progress that plot, but it'll be much better for her than it was last time.
Hazard has a fairly shit deal but at least doesn't have to see Goh Tat in person too often.
Jikiro is in the situation of 'all Takamis consider the Inkblade their collective ancestor' but does have to deal with his older signmates, Himari and Akahan, and helps out Hanabi with Kana. He likes Akahan, though, and he's okay with Himari most of the time.

"bluebloods care more about ancestry" statistical generalization. rabbits benral, who couldn't give half a fuck if you paid her, shines as a beacon of indifference among her caste

I like when ancestors cause problems tbh. I do have a few trolls who've gotten along with or look up to theirs, like Ginger, but the majority of my trolls who've met or were raised by theirs in some way came off worse from the experience.
Tuuya is the most notable example, but Maidel also really resents Doroch.

#oh neat a Cloud Troll I am unfamiliar with I wonder what his deal is#[2 minutes later] I see. it is now my god-given mission to put another shitty old person into the ground#I barely know Hazard but I feel bad for him. poor dude
@raitrolling
the extra funny part is Goh Tat existed before I made Izanam, but I haven't used Hazard in forever so I kinda forgot about his dickhead ancestor and only later realized 'lol they're a little similar in their assholishness types'. but not by much tbh.
unfortunately Goh Tat would be a lot harder to kill, and Hazard does not want him dead because that would cause him A Lot Of Problems.

All That Glitters
Hazard Ailaht | Present Night | The Set of If Loving You is Wrong (abbr)
(tw for transphobia, minor but still there)
The town’s lights are beautiful and it’s far less crowded than Temasek, and his shirt isn’t stuck to him with sweat either. A cool breeze ruffles the cerulean’s curly hair, bringing with it the distant salt smell of the ocean as he walks down the path to the trailers for the actors, grimacing.
If only he could stroll wherever he wanted, find a good spot and pull out the thriller he’s in the middle of. See if he’s right about who the legislacerator is going to frame for their corruption.
He sighs deeply, scratching idly at the stubble he knows he’ll have to trim soon before it starts becoming a real beard and getting in the way. Nothing for it.
He knocks on the door of the trailer he needs, the metal door cold against his knuckles, and immediately steps aside as the door bursts open and his shirtless ancestor steps out into the moonlight, grinning and flexing. His pants are shiny and dark blue, with - oh spirits - initials sewn on the pockets.
Goh Tat Ailaht is the most embarrassing troll Hazard’s ever met, and that includes everyone who checks out the bad porn novels he’s had to avoid eye contact with at the library.

a lot of blueblood guys are violent and dangerous and then there's Hazard, who suffers heavy allergies, wears glasses, and is built like a couch cushion.
he is aware of all this and is in a nigh-perpetual low-grade bad mood about it because he knows he's an easy bullying victim but he hates the idea of actually retaliating and hurting anyone. he considers this a shameful weakness since he's a highblood, and his ancestor has also made it clear to him that this is pathetic.

tbh I don't really use Glaceo anymore and I barely use Chiore but they made the list funnier.
Hazard I don't use rn but I want to again some day because I really like his library and his grumpy but actually giant dork who wouldn't hurt a fly personality.

Gliese is an asshole but Matari more just had chronic dumb bitch disease and thought she could get away with anything. She wasn't even that mean, she was just prone to eating her own foot and doing wild shit for attention or to see if she could.
She and Gliese were matesprits - Gliese's only matesprit ever - when they were young, but broke up after Matari's bullshit got Gliese's first pale and pitch killed. They later got back together as ashen since Gliese's second kismesis was also a friend of Matari's, but then broke up again when, shockingly, Matari vanished for a while and Gliese got sick of her shit.

You own a computer mouse?
Tumblr media
"What are you, thick? Of course I own a computer mouse, I work with technology for a living. A few, actually, but of course my favorite is Nibble, my talented friend Tertet made him for me and he's the pride of my collection.
Absolutely splendid little creation, it's extremely advanced and develops via interaction. I love engaging it when I need a break from designing and seeing how it reacts."

It's funny because Jamie does have a robotic computer mouse he loves that was a gift from Tertet, but y'know, that's different.

Hey Jamie do you have any opinions on mice (the animal)?
Tumblr media
"Can't say I have any in particular, why? I mean, they're quite the nuisance if you don't keep them out of your hive properly, but they seem cute enough when trolls have them as pets.
I've certainly seen worse and more puzzling animals people have chosen to domesticate, and I hear they make decent lusii for lowbloods and midbloods."
