I hadn’t posted this on tumblr yet but I’ve been working on a robot dude concept for my portfolio, here’s some concept art and a final render. I also wrote a small paragraph about their background which you can read beneath the cut!

Lore:

The area his robot lived in used to be a warzone, and the robot used to be a war machine. Years after the war had ended, various people tried to rebuild their homes in the wastelands that the war had left. Many used scrap from ruined houses to build up new ones, and people even reprogrammed some war robots to help them with the rebuilding of the area and other daily tasks. These wastelands, however, were slightly contaminated by radioactive/chemical spills from weapons used in the war. Once the people realised this, they all fled and left the rebuilt city and robots for what they were.

One person, a mechanic, falling I’ll because of the radiation, knew it was too late for them to return to safer lands, so they decided to try and upload their memory and conscience to their helper robot. Despite all their effort, they were short on time and only half succeeded in uploading the insides of their brain to the robot. This resulted in the robot becoming semi self aware and remembering fragments of a life they never lived themselves.

The reformed robot now roams the land looking for their own past and purpose while slowly breaking down because they too, weren’t fully immune to the radioactive substances since the mechanic installed some organic parts to make the robot more susceptible to their brain.

The cat on its shoulder was the mechanics house pet. The cat once lost its leg but the mechanic replaced it with a mechanical leg, enabling the cat to keep on living. Unlike humans, that were killed by the radiation, the cat seems to only be mutating slowly. With no real reason for the cat to stay behind, the cat now follows the robot through forgotten wastelands simply because they recognise traces of their previous owner in the robot.

more concept sketches: The Doom of the Noldor as a three-act ballet!

It'd be impossible to adapt the entire Silmarillion into a single ballet, but I think this is the closest you can get to reducing the plot to its bare minimum. more details below!

Act I: (from top to bottom) Feänor and the silmarils, Mandos, Nerdanel, the Kinslaying at Alqualondë

Act II: (from top to bottom, left to right) Fingon and Maedhros, Turgon and Elenwe, Idril and Maeglin, Galadriel

Act III: (from top to bottom) Fingolfin facing Morgoth, surely that is a Silmaril that shines now in the West?, Maedhros and Maglor

Concept sketches in between work.

Not at all to be taken seriously, but this is my interpretation of the Ink Demon. Absolutely no hate in the BatDR model as the team did a very good job with the game, but it wasn't very appealing to me. When I think if a cartoon character gone horribly wrong, I think of something that is a cross of that rubberhose toon look and a monster. Something that's supposed to be familiar yet warped. BatDR Bendy works with the dark themes of the game but doesn't quite fit what I feel works for the animation studio as a whole. Going from BatIM to BatDR models is quite jarring and leaves BatDR Bendy as nearly unrecognizable as Bendy except for his head. If there was more of an in-between to show how Bendy becomes more and more monstrous, then I think it wouldn't have been so off to me. And I reiterate, this is solely my opinion and is not to be taken seriously.

Yet another Separated AU Comic

So I have been utterly devouring TMNT Separated AU comics lately and I realized that I literally have my own separated AU sitting in my google docs (though it's a "separated AU" that is also a cage fight AU lol)! I had been planning to write it as a fic but I'm realizing it'd actually translate really well to a comic... so, I want to try it!

The basic concept of this AU is that the turtles are separated from Splinter less than a year after they're mutated, and they end up being sold into a group of illegal fight clubs that have taken the idea of dog fighting, but started using mutants instead. Raph and Leo end up under the same owner, but they lose Donnie and Mikey... and while they're still together, Leo is starting to think he might lose Raph as well. It all comes down to a bit of human meddling and one fateful night to see if the brothers will actually be able to reunite -- and at what cost.

The main problem with this AU is that while I had originally outlined it with Mutant Mayhem as the base, I'm debating switching it to Rise. If I did it would change up some details, especially with how the characters interact... so, I thought I'd throw out both versions and see if there's an interest in this AU! If you are interested, let me know which version interests you more!

I also made sketches in of a few key moments in the AU (and just practice sketches) to show a bit of how the different versions would change the tone. (Casey and April both play a big part in this AU, so Rise!Casey would sadly not be Future!Casey, I'd just be putting him in the present)

Guys!!! I did it!

In like a little more than an hour. I literally JUST finished this!!

I’ve been cooking up this thing’s premise in my brain for WEEKS!!

Will I write for it? Yes.

Will it be now? Haha! Absolutely not!! I know when to limit myself! I’ve got like 3 whole ass fics to juggle around!! [:

Under the read more because this is very much spoilers! Also, since this is still a loose concept, whatever I write here is vulnerable to being retconned/rewritten! Be warned!

I finally learned how to draw Siff, lmfao. I forgot his cowlick on the Siff doodle page!

Introducing…

The Bell Berserker AU! After loops and loops of running around, not finding out anything… Siff essentially snaps, and in some way (haven’t ironed that out yet!) he manages to get a suitable neck piece for the bell pendant! Turns out that this pendant really WAS special!!

(Okay, this will very likely NOT be late ACT 4, now that I’ve written that. More like mid to late ACT 3 or early ACT 4, maybe?)

Due to the pendant’s extreme effects, Siff had to figure out how to Craft themselves a new weapon over tons of loops (it was super difficult, do you think this rogue knows how to do anything besides slice up enemies, detect traps, and pun?)

Now Siff has another problem… How will he adjust his Craft to accommodate this thing? He’s never used anything other than blades for fighting before!

Exposition over! Here’s his design (for now.)

Let me know if it’s hard to see, I’ll alpha lock the layer and recolor the linear- (cough) sketches!

Also, let know what y’all think, I was so impatient to get this out that I couldn’t move past the sketch stage and decided to make my cleaner sketch layer 100% opacity, lmao. (As if I didn’t practically turn it into lineart by cleaning it up more-)

I just had to get it out into the world, I guess!
