Chronicler's Company but they're Toa!
These designs are meant to be, like, a "what if", where they became Toa some time after the Bohrok invasion but before the Rebuilding. Also I decided to take this seriously and not make Hafu and Taipu identical, though I did give them designs that could arguable work for either (and swapped their Toa forms' masks for fun).
(A live-updating list of stuff I use can be found here, feel free to suggest anything not on that list via my askbox.)

Rebuilt matoran are much more fun to pose. However making sub assemblies for each character is a headache...

The VC parts pack definitely makes for more posable mata figures. Here's Macku, Gali, and Tamaru talkin about girl things. Like how best to take down a swarm of bohrok.
I was gonna post the rest of the mata and the company, but apparently the ensemble file got corrupted. :/
HOWEVER
Tumblr media
gives me an excuse to make Toa Nuva too.

🇺🇸 Step back in time to 1986 and witness the dawn of a revolutionary device—the IBM PC Convertible. As one of the earliest portable computers, the PC Convertible marked a significant milestone in the evolution of American personal computing, offering newfound mobility and versatility to professionals and enthusiasts alike.
💻 The IBM PC Convertible represented IBM's inaugural foray into creating a portable version of its iconic PC line. It was the first laptop-style computer following the luggable IBM Portable, and notably introduced the 3½-inch floppy disk format to the IBM product line. Featuring a clamshell design this groundbreaking device set the stage for future generations of laptops. Its compact form factor and relatively lightweight made it a practical choice for on-the-go computing—a novel concept at the time.
⌨️ Unlike earlier portable computers that required external keyboards, the PC Convertible boasted a built-in keyboard, enhancing its usability and convenience.
👉 The PC Convertible came in three models: PC Convertible, PC Convertible Model 2, and Model 3. The latter two were released in October 1987 and are primarily distinguished by their LCD panels. The original Convertible used a non-backlit panel, which was considered difficult to read. The Model 2 lacked a backlight as well but upgraded to an improved supertwist panel, while the Model 3 included a backlight.
🖥️ Equipped with an innovative flip-up monochrome, CGA-compatible LCD screen, the PC Convertible offered a crisp display for viewing documents and running applications—a revolutionary feature for its time.
💾 Powered by an Intel 80C88 CPU, the PC Convertible came with built-in storage options, including 256 KB of RAM (expandable to 640 KB) and dual 720 KB 3.5-inch floppy drives, enabling users to store and access data with ease. It also featured serial and parallel ports for connecting peripherals.
🔋 Despite its modest battery life by today's standards, the PC Convertible offered respectable uptime, allowing users to work on the go without being tethered to a power source. Weighing just over 12 pounds and featuring a built-in carrying handle, the PC Convertible's battery was rated for 10 hours.
🌟 The IBM PC Convertible was succeeded in 1991 by the PS/2 L40 SX, and in Japan by the IBM Personal System/55note, the predecessor to the ThinkPad. The IBM PC Convertible left an indelible mark on the history of computing, paving the way for the modern laptops we use today. Its innovative design and practical features demonstrated the potential of portable computing, inspiring subsequent advancements in mobile technology.

Redoing the roleswap versions of the Chronicler's Company, because the old versions looked kinda eh, also I was going through my "put glowing hole-fillers in everything" and "Studio's photoreal scratches look good actually" phases at the time, so they look weird and a bit cluttered.
Also I took a little bit of artistic license with Hafu's design to give him a different mask. I'm not making them the same

So... yeah, in case anyone was wondering, as far as adaptations go... The Spiderwick Chronicles series is really bad. Not even the same story. Like... major plot points changed, it was unnecessarily dark (literally and figuratively... seriously! Can we please just stop filming movies and shows so that you still struggle to see after turning the screen brightness up the whole way?), characters were added for no reason at all, a romantic side plot was added for no reason at all, how people were related was changed for the sole purpose of adding extra drama... there were no goblins or hobgoblins (ya know... a pretty major part of the plot). The target audience is wrong. I see "Spiderwick" and want to share the wonder and whimsy of my childhood with my children. I do not want a dark gritty retelling that I can't show them until they are practically an adult and couldn't care less what I'd like to show them from my childhood.
*Please note: I'm not saying it wasn't entertaining to watch. It was alright. It had some decent effects and nice creature design. Thimbletack was very cute! I doubt I'll rewatch it, and I probably won't recommend it to many people. What I am saying is that it is a bad *adaptation.* This was not an adaptation. This was an alternative universe fanfiction that feeds off of nostalgia without actually understanding what people are nostalgic for. It was cool to see a free streaming company pick up a series like this and try their hand at it, and as I said, they did a good job in some areas. I hope they can learn from both the good and the bad and do better in the future.
