INCOMING ALBUM RECOMMENDATION
The Sounds of Animals Fighting - Lover, The Lord Has Left Us...
The Sounds of Animals Fighting are a genre-defying experimental supergroup formed in 2004, the band mostly consists of members from rock band RX Bandits. This album was released in 2006, I've had this in my rotation since not long after its release. What originally drew this album to me was that Craig Owens from Post-Hardcore band Chiodos is featured doing an a capella track "Un'Aria", and is featured throughout.
This band is one thing: bizarre. There are rock and industrial elements, orchestral influence, noise, spoken-word poetry, and a lot of experimental genre-mashing. The lyrics are abstract but insanely visual. There is also a song with Sanskrit lyrics that is absolutely beautiful ("Prayers on Fire"). Interestingly theres also a weird Swans reference partway through the album, I think it might be a cover but it's really hard to call it that (The Golden Boy That Was Swallowed By The Sea).
If you're into experimental music that feel like an experience to listen to, I definitely recommend this album, as well as The Ocean And The Sun (which has one of my all-time favourite songs on it-- I, The Swan).
