Isn't it wonderful to read the manga and know that Kakashi served such a big role in the story.
Teaching Sasuke his Chidori which Sasuke ultimately took and made even stronger and extended into other styles of Chidori (like the Chidori stream)
Helping Naruto create his Rasenshuriken and teaching him to use his Shadow clones to improve his learning speed because Naruto may not learn particularly fast but he had the perfect fix for that and Kakashi made sure he knew that.
He was the strong leader and tactical mind of team seven even into the last fight, where he supported and protected his student and ultimately came up with the plan that allowed them to defeat Kaguya and seal her away.
being the one to turn his back to the rules any time his students needed him more because, at the end of the day, his precious people were more important to him than the village. (Going after Naruto and Sasuke in the Sasuke retrieval arc, taking Naruto to speak with A during the Kage summit)
being the one to ultimately pull Obito back to their side and work beside him against Madara (yes Naruto made Obito rethink himself and quit fighting, but it was Kakashi's words that got Obito back into the fight on their side)
supporting his friends in their fights (kamuing away a piece of Madara's truth seeker orb shield so Gai could get through him and give him that epic bone-shattering kick, protecting Ino-shika-cho from Kakuzu's lightning attack)
being the only reason that fans knew about or even cared about the big reveal of 'tobi'/'madara' because it was through his eyes that we learned about Uchiha Obito.
being the first Hokage since the creation of Konoha to make some genuine changes to konoha that improved it not just economically, but connected it to the other villages through trade agreements rather than reliance on alliances in case of war, as well as being the Hokage to make a 'no kill order' for shinobi so that they would take enemies prisoner and only kill if there was no other choice.
it's wonderful that Kakashi plays such a huge role in the story, even as a secondary main who should not be contributing as much as the three main characters

What Is the in-Universe Justification for Azula Being Able to Dual Wield Fire and Lightning?
I know a lot of people don’t like the comics, but I recently came across the Smoke and Shadow omnibus cover, which has left me with even more questions about what is possible with firebending, and just how strong post-comics Azula is.
Tumblr media
For the comics gave Azula the following new abilities: quick charge lightning; instant lightning; the ability to wield lightning like a bootleg chidori; the ability to make lightning spheres; the ability to make lightning zaps; lightning redirection; instant area of effect lightning; the ability to control and spilt her lightning stream after she has fired it; concussive lightning; faster fire jets; and, most controversially, the apparent ability to psychically generate and manipulate smoke.
But even with all these new abilities, at least you could argue that Azula was far from being a team buster, and that there are people who could give her a credible fight aside from serious Avatars, sprit fusions like Yun, and Yakone’s bloodline, people like comics!Toph, comics!Katara, and maybe even bloodlusted comics!Zuko and Iroh.
But with Azula’s apparent ability to dual wield fire and lightning, am I crazy to believe that Azula’s only real matches are serious Avatars, sprit fusions, and Yakone’s bloodline?
For wasn't comics!Azula’s biggest issue is that none of her lightning, except for her fully charged, have anything other than concussive, stunning, and/or clothing damage effects at best?
But if she can dual wield fire and lightning, doesn't that get rid of her biggest weakness since she can use her lethal firebending to supplement her non-lethal lightingbending?
Also, does anyone have any ideas as to how this is possible in-universe?
Cause I know LoK says that lightingbending very is taxing on chi-reserves and even a professional athlete like Mako can’t spam lightning. And while I know that Azula was specifically bred to be the ultimate firebender, I can’t shake the feeling that that Azula dual wielding fire and lightning breaks some unspoken rule about benders not being able to use normal bending plus a sub-element at the same time…at least while not being amped.
For Sozin’s Comet Ozai did dual wield fire and lightning, but even then, he just using his fire jets while lightningbending.
Anyway, I guess what I am trying to say is does anyone have a good explanation for what the cover is trying to imply other than the out-of-universe answer of Bryke trying to credibly make Azula into the final villain of Aang’s era, and therefore have to give her massive buffs so she remains a credible threat as the Gaang, who are all child prodigies and masters by the end of the TV show, enter adulthood, and thus their physical primes?

Lamentations
Minato Namikaze has some regrets.
AO3 Link Here Word Count:  1815 Rated T for canon typical violence and canonical character death
.
“I was too late.  I’m sorry.”
It’s dark.  Almost too dark for Minato Namikaze to make out the outline of the stone he stands before in the Konoha Cemetery.
Or, rather, just beyond the cemetery’s perimeter; though it’s so close you wouldn’t know that unless you’d specifically come to pay your respects to the man the marker was meant for.
Sakumo Hatake, the disgraced White Fang of Konoha, was not permitted a true burial with his comrades.  Deserters are not granted the honor and in the Hidden Leaf Village, suicide is still considered a dereliction of duty.
Minato isn’t certain anymore that he agrees with the precedent, but it’s too late now for him to voice his dissent—Sakumo has long been dead, cremated, and buried.  The man who could have razed the Village in an instant if he wanted—could have brought the Legendary Sannin to their collective knees—is no more. Has not been for some time.
“I tried.”
Minato remembers how stoic Kakashi had been during his father’s memorial.  He remembers telling him so afterward only to be met with the cool, detached shinobi the boy had become in the wake of his immense loss.  Minato decided that day he would try to help, he would see to it that Kakashi understood there was more to being a shinobi than creating an emotionless husk whose sole purpose was to function as a tool for the Hokage to wield against Konoha’s enemies.
“I tried.”
Minato doesn’t know why he’s here, exactly, explaining himself to a dead man’s grave marker.
There are weeds all around the stone; a sure sign Kakashi has not been to see his father in some time.  It makes Minato’s chest feel hollow as he kneels and plucks the errant plants from the ground, pinching the stalks firmly between his fingers and wrenching them from the ground by the roots.  There’s something cathartic about it, the way the dirt sprays over his pants and the space around the marker slowly clears.
Kakashi will still be in the hospital where Minato left him, under the guise of a fractured wrist.  It’s mostly for observation, though—Minato had not liked the wane look on his face as they returned to Konoha, the faraway expression in his eyes as he stared at his hand, curling the fingers into a claw and then loosening them again.  Sometimes the hand twitched and Minato caught the swift, faint scent of ozone as if Kakashi’s lightning nature were springing to life; whether as a defense mechanism or an attack instinct, he remains unsure.
A wry laugh ripples from Minato’s chest, bursting from his throat in a self-effacing toll.
He is the Yellow Flash—the fastest shinobi in existence; known for his faster-than-light maneuvers through a battlefield.
And still, he’d been too late when it really mattered.  Too late to save Rin, too late to spare Kakashi.
Kakashi is a genius, that much had always been obvious. His prowess in ninjutsu was unparalleled, even before Rin transplanted Obito’s Sharingan into his empty eye socket.
Now, the boy is all but unstoppable.  Quick as any Uchiha had ever been, his talent lauded by everyone—Minato included.
But perhaps he of all people should have realized such swiftness could also be a curse.
When Minato found Kakashi, he was kneeling on the ground before Rin’s eviscerated corpse, tears pouring in a steady stream from his left eye while the other remained blank and unreadable, the same as it had been the day of his father’s funeral service.  His fingers trembled, wrist twitching occasionally.  Minato could still seen the faint silvery marks left from the Chidori—the pale scars that were slowly growing in number across his forearm as he used the technique more often.
The blood and viscera on his palm—pieces of his teammate buried beneath his fingernails—made Minato want to vomit.  Not because he had never seen equally gruesome things in battle before, but because it was Kakashi’s hand.  Rin’s blood.
How Kakashi had not been sick himself remains a mystery.  He was obviously far stronger than his own sensei.  Than his father had been or would be now if he were alive to see his son in such a position.
Minato remembers the way Kakashi changed after Obito’s death—the small difference in the way he treated others around him, as if the lessons of teamwork were finally beginning to permeate the hardened outer shell of a boy who had lost too much too quickly.
Because he is still just a boy and Minato—hardly a man himself—does not know how to provide him what he needs. He left Kakashi in a hospital bed because it was better than sending him home, but there must be other, better options.
Minato thinks he could be Kakashi’s friend; a confidante, even.  But he cannot be a father and it seems he might not be a fitting sensei either.  Could not be a comrade to be counted on.
“Pathetic,” Minato whispers as he pulls the last of the weeds from the ground.  He clenches them in his fist, dirt smearing over his fingers and turning his fingernails black—almost as dark as Kakashi’s had been when he found him kneeling beside Rin’s body.
Minato doesn’t know what to do with the wilting plants, so he holds them lamely, a ragged bouquet.
Fitting, he thinks, for where he stands now, begging forgiveness from a man long dead—a man who would no sooner know what to do were he still alive than Minato.
He wonders sometimes if the White Fang is better off having died by his own hand.  It’s a morbid thought, certainly, and one Minato would never voice aloud, not even to Kushina.
But the alternatives that existed to him… to waste away to nothing, disgraced and discarded.  To wither like an overripe tomato on the vine or the weeds in his hand, their leaves already drooping as they waste away.
Perhaps going out on his own terms was Sakumo’s shinobi way—the only way he thought he could carve out his own ending, refuse to bow beneath the weight of his imposed shortcomings and taint his son’s future with them.
But Kakashi is already called Friend-Killer, Minato heard the whispers on his way through the hospital as he left him sleeping fitfully against a hard mattress.
What will he do, now?  Now that his teammates are all gone, what should Minato do with the Copy Cat Ninja?
Minato hears the whispers, sees the writing on the wall of his future.  He knows that as soon as the greater conflict has ended, the Third Hokage will step down.  Minato knows in his bones he will be named the Fourth if he is still breathing.
And that means he will not have time to watch over Kakashi as he should.  The ANBU might provide a way for Minato to keep a closer eye on him.  Perhaps even have him assigned to his personal guard one day.  Because while Minato wishes nothing more than to keep Kakashi safe and sane in the wake of what has happened, the reality is that it’s impossible for him to be everywhere at once—no matter how fast he moves.
Minato can still feel the hot tears of Rin’s mother against his neck where she clung to him as he delivered the news—can still feel the seething rage radiating from her father as he demanded answers Minato could not give him, screamed to know who was responsible.
Minato blamed Kirigakure, but he also knows it is only a matter of time before the Noharas hear the less than nuanced story from someone with loose lips and an errant tongue.
What then?
While Rin’s father stood no chance against Kakashi were he to make any attempt on the boy’s life, that did not mean he would not try.  Did not mean he would not become violent if he were to confront Kakashi in the throes of his grief.
Did not mean Kakashi might not be forced to defend himself, might end up with more blood on his hands and beneath his fingernails.
No, Minato thinks, there is no way that will happen.  Not if he can help it.  If he assigns Kakashi to the ANBU as soon as he’s made Hokage, he will be too busy away from the village to worry about confrontations at home.  He will be able to build a new reputation for himself within the black ops, one that will eventually wash away the stain of Rin’s blood.
Of Obito’s.
He will learn to be a leader, to be trusted by his comrades again.  He will have a new team.
It is not a perfect solution—far from it—even now, Minato feels the bile rising in his throat again as he imagines what Kakashi will look like behind the cold porcelain mask of the ANBU.  He seethes at the idea of handing him a tanto to use instead of his own hand sheathed in lightning.
But it is the best he can do—the best he knows how to do.  There is no one else to help bear the burden of Kakashi’s rage.  Of his grief.  No one else to lead him into a future where he can decide for himself who he will be—who he will love and protect, and how.
So Minato Namikaze will make difficult decisions and some of them will be wrong.  He knows they will be.  Already it is clear that allowing Kakashi to be dispatched to retrieve Rin was a horrible mistake—a tragic error in judgment that lost him two children instead of one.
Because there is no way to mistake Kakashi for a child any longer.  Whatever remnant of innocence that may have yet lingered in him died with Rin, ebbed away with her blood as it soaked into the ground, as he mechanically scrubbed it from the delicate webbing between his fingers.
The last bit of Kakashi Hatake’s childhood fluttered and dwindled with the final furious beats of her heart in his hand.
Minato bows to Sakumo’s stone.  He doesn’t say anything—any words he tries to conjure turn to dirt on his tongue.
Sakumo deserves better than Minato to look after Kakashi—Kakashi deserves better.
He deserves his father.  His friends.
But the Yellow Flash is all he has.  And Minato knows no more how to be a human first and a tool second than Kakashi does.  He resolves to try, and it’s all he can do.
Of course, he will fail there too, eventually.  But for now, he carries the hope in his heart that he can right past wrongs by building a better future for his last remaining student—that Kakashi will find in him the mentor he needs now more than ever.

Doc who do you think wrote the letter in the last stream? The mechanics of the mystery are too bananas to follow, but there has to someone behind the letter. Who was it, you think?
Note: This is referring to Flowers: Hiver
Oh fuck me, I don't know.
I simultaneously absolutely adore doing Flowers, and also, hate it so much. No, I am not taking notes at this time. It has such interesting MOMENTS of character work, and, hypothetically, such interesting characters, but it is also some of the most KOOKOO FUCKING BANANAS logic I have seen anywhere, ever. The mysteries are basically guessing games, though at least in this Winter game it gives you SOME opportunity to notice things with your eyes versus some giant leap of logic.
So obviously, SOMEONE wrote the letter, but I would be lying to you if I said I had a single truly good theory about who wrote it, not being helped by the somewhat frustrating fact that, it being a game, I can't go back and read it. (If I were ever going to write essays on a VN, I would have to play it and take notes during and BOY would it be a long experience.)
I mean, i'm ready to blame Sister Basquiat for LITERALLY EVERYTHING, but I think taht's just me being me.
Remember when i wrote that thing about haruka going into another anime, and just deciding she was going to take the girl with her because wow bullshit? I wish haruka would come take Erika and Chidori out of the whole mess. Maybe Rikka and Tsuwabuki also

Sorry to ask but what is Sasuke justu arsenal
That's gonna be a long answer. I'm not gonna write the same thing I did with Sakura because that one was big enough and Sasuke's would be double so I'm gonna write his canon techniques though.
I might forget a few but these are the ones I know for sure he has done in canon.
-
Dōjutsu: Sharingan, Mangekyō Sharingan and Rinnegan (this eye has abilities he doesn't use so they won't be listed).
Kekkei Genkai: Amaterasu, Susanō, Chibaku Tensei, Kagutsuchi, Amenotejikara and Yasaka Magatama.
Shurikenjutsu: Manipulating Windmill Triple Blades Technique.
Ninjutsu: Shadow Clone Technique, Shadow Shuriken Technique, Summoning Technique: Snake and Hawk, Reverse Summoning Technique, Summoning: Lightning Flash Blade Creation Technique, Binding Snake Glare Spell Technique, Sensing Technique (through Sharingan), Space-Time, Hidden Shadow Snake Hand Technique and Naka Shrine Entering Technique.
Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique, Great Dragon Fire Technique and Dragon Fire Technique.
Lightning Release: Chidori, Chidori Stream, Chidori Senbon, Chidori Spear (changing the shape of chakra), Kirin, Raisen, Indra's Arrow, Lorentz Gun and Sword of Kusanagi.
Earth Release: Stone Luster Technique.
Water Release: Water Formation Wall Technique.
Ice Release: Ice Kunai (mix Wind and Water and change the shape of chakra).
Medical Ninjutsu: Mystical Palm Technique.
Genjutsu: Sharingan.
Juinjutsu and Kinjutsu: Curse Seal of Heaven (formerly).
Kenjutsu: Afterglow and Moonlight.
Taijutsu: Lion Combo, Strong Fist (copied from Rock Lee), Shadow of the Dancing Leaf (copied form Rock Lee) and Surging Firewall Dance Technique.
Cooperation: Hurricane Thunderclap - Majestic Attire Sword Stroke, Sixth Paths Chibaku Tensei (formerly) and Scorch Release: Halo Hurricane Jet Black Arrow Style Zero.
Most of his ninjutsu techniques are also performed with his Susanō like Chidori but I think it's pointless to repeat them because it's essentially the same.
Then there are some techniques that fall in both taijutsu and kenjutsu but I put them in one category.

Tenzō stood in the middle of the field, awe struck.
ROOT operatives had always stuck to the shadows when they carried out their missions- even in a place as sunny and teeming with life as Konoha. So Tenzō had never had a chance to feast his eyes on a sight like this.
A sprawling carpet of emerald green grass. Morning dew glittering like diamonds dropped by a careless goddess. Flowers dripping with nectar, bursting with colour, ornamenting the field. And the sun, glinting down on them, accentuating each individual facets of every petal and grass blade.
Yugao had insisted that Tenzō wear civvies to this field and he understood why now. Without the reinforced armour and the heavy clothing, Tenzō felt…light.
He could feel the silky breeze curling around his calves. He could feel the shy tickle of the grass against his ankles. Without the weight of his mask, he could breathe in the sweet honey smell of flowers. Yugao  had even pulled up Tenzō’s hair into a ponytail, so he could feel the sun warming the back on his neck.
He had never felt so free.
“Do you like it?” Kakashi padded up next to him.
“It’s beautiful,’ Tenzō breathed. “I had no idea a place this wonderful existed.”
Why on earth did he let Tenzō just walk off? It was clear that Tenzō wasn’t just a brainwashed ROOT lackey. He had saved Kakashi when it probably would have served his mission better if Kakashi had been dead. He risked his own life protecting Kakashi. He risked his own life saving Yukimi against one of the Sannin- the one responsible for experimenting on him.
Of course you didn’t. Kakashi thought sadly. After all, they had been on back to back missions in the ANBU. And just a year ago, Tenzō had still been deeply embedded in ROOT.
Kakashi had always regretted how he left the Iburi clan incident. At the time, he thought that he had been kind by never mentioning Tenzō in his report. But as the years passed, with no sign of Tenzō, and an ever increasing threat posed by Danzo, Kakashi started to regret his decision.
Even from that very first mission, Tenzō had gone against everything ROOT programmed into him. His compassion and kindness had been unsullied by Danzo.
And Kakashi had just let him walk back into the snake’s hole.
That decision had weighed heavy on Kakashi for years. He should’ve convinced Tenzō to go back to the Hokage with him. Insisted that the ANBU, the real ANBU was better for him, where the Hokage- where Kakashi could protect him from Danzo. Where Tenzō would be able to walk in the sunlight instead of serving in that underground hell.
When Tenzō had turned up three years later, Kakashi had been secretly ecstatic to have a second shot at helping him. At hopefully getting him into ANBU and more importantly- out of ROOT.
When Tenzō turned against him and he had Tenzō pinned against the floor, Chidori at his heart, Kakashi…couldn’t do it. He wanted to believe that the Tenzō he had met was still in there. He captured him to bring him back to the Hokage.
He was never going to let Tenzō go back to Danzo.
And Kakashi had been right in the end. Tenzō had put himself at risk to save Kakashi twice over. And though Kakashi had saved him in the end, gotten him into his own squad where he could watch out for him, Kakashi could never shake off that guilt.
Because, Kakashi thought, watching Tenzō tilt his head up and enjoy the ribbons of fresh air streaming over him, sunlight illuminating the bronze of his hair. You could’ve had this a lot sooner, if I had been a little braver.
“Kakashi-senpai!” Tenzō’s voice broke him out of his reverie. There, carefully balanced on his finger, was a butterfly. Its blue wings, colour deep as the ocean and edged with black lace, flapped lazily as it perched on Tenzō’s finger. His kohai looked delighted.
Yes, Kakashi thought. You deserved it, Tenzō. You deserved your place in the sun so much quicker.
“Senpai?” Tenzō tore his gaze away from the butterfly and looked at Kakashi curiously.
Kakashi gave him a smile and gestured to the butterfly. “Are you using your Wood style, Tenzō? Secretly growing flowers out of your fingers, hmmmm?”
Sufficiently distracted, Tenzō squawked his defence as Kakashi laughed at him. With a huff, Tenzō turned his back pointedly on Kakashi.
Kakashi’s eye strayed towards the nape of Tenzō’s neck. Towards the mark that claimed Tenzō as his soulmate.
And Kakashi knew that he would never, ever tell Tenzō.
Because after all, Tenzō had never done anything bad enough to deserve Kakashi as a soulmate.

Does Alphys's breath weapon resemble lightning, a cloud of sparks, or a modified chidori?
I was picturing a sort of laser. Like how in undertale your soul goes yellow and you go "pew pew pew!" Except it would be a continuous stream. "Swooohm!"
But I haven't decided. I have to think about what would be practical and plausible in a battle scenario. It could be more like pikachu's electric ball but from the mouth. Sort of charged up and fired off.
Charging up leaves her vulnerable so she definitely has to be careful and strategic about it. But if it hits it's definitely a powerful move.

"Shun Onii-chan!" The young Sainitia rushed to the Legendary Bronze Knight. "I'm sorry to bother you but I need to talk to you..." The flustered child grabbed his hand as she pulled him aside. "Something happened to Onee-chan!" She finally told him. "I don't know what happened exactly. But Onee-chan met her brother and they had a huge argument..." Enough to attract a small crowd around them. "When I asked if she was okay, she says she was fine. But she sounded so cold like she was completely a different person..." Biting her lips. The child did her best not to burst into tears. "Noburu is usually the one to fix this. But she's not here right now and she's on the mission..." As her shaking hands grab Shun's hands. "I'm scared that she will disappear. And I don't know what to do. Please help Onee-chan!"

Somewhere outside of Sanctuary, there are many hidden gems, a spot, within its grounds. One was a waterfall not so far off from Sanctuary. It's a place the Lioness loves to go to, to think and be alone with her thoughts. There is something about the beautiful scenery that was calming, and the loud crashing sound of the water, that was so loud, it could drown everything, even the Lioness's cries.  Stepping with her barefoot into the cold water stream. She soaks her handkerchief before pressing it against her eyes and letting out a heavy sigh. Laying down on her back against the rocks. She looked up at the sky and thought. What a day.
Tumblr media
In the past, Kanako used to have control over her emotions where her family, their words and actions, would easily phrase right through her and she feels nothing from it. But seeing her brother again after so long, learning and allowing herself to feel again. All the sadness, anger, and frustration began to pour out of her mouth. That she couldn't stop herself from snapping and yelling at him when her family had the gull. Wanting to reconcile with her after how they had poorly treated her and scarred her emotionally in the past. No doubt. The rumor mill back at Sanctuary is probably hard at work. With the headlines, the Lioness, the black cat, viciously attacked her own brother. How wicked and cruel she is!? It's ironic and hilarious how the culprit (her family) is playing the victim card here.
There are times she wished she could go back to the old days when she was emotionless about everything. It was easy to deal with things and function normally, without being shackled by her emotions. But she understood that it had its flaws. That she wasn't able to reciprocate her genuine feelings to others, without it sounding bland or disingenuous.
Yet. "₩ⱧɎ ĐØ₦'₮ ɎØɄ?" A sinister voice whispers into her ears. "JɄ₴₮ ₳ ₥Ø₥Ɇ₦₮..." "Maybe I should...." She spoke to herself as her eyes turned glassy.  "₵ⱠØ₴Ɇ ɎØɄⱤ ɆɎɆ₴ ₳₦Đ ⱧɆ₳Ɽ₮. ₮ɄⱤ₦ ɎØɄⱤ ⱧɆ₳Ɽ₮ ₳₴ ₵ØⱠĐ ₳₴ ł₵Ɇ. ⱤɆ₥Ɇ₥฿ɆⱤ ₩Ⱨ₳₮ ł₮'₴ Ⱡł₭Ɇ ₮Ø ₣ɆɆⱠ ₦Ø₮Ⱨł₦₲..." As a cold breath escapes the Lioness's lungs and just as she was about to let her heart freeze, allowing the darkness to swallow her whole. A bright familiar cosmos pulled and snapped her out of the darkness.
Tumblr media
Opening her eyes. Her glassy eyes met a pair of emerald-colored eyes staring back at her. "SHUN!" She gasped as she sat up quickly. And felt a stink in her heart that she winced slightly. Regaining her composure quickly. "How long have you been standing there?" She forced a smile on her face. But her eyes, there were red and they couldn't hide the sadness she was holding in. Concern about how much he has seen. Her lips form into a thin line as she sighs. "Chidori told you, huh?" 'Damn it, Chidori!' Mentally scolding her. "I'm alright. Chidori is just overreacting." She lied as she pushed him away. "Shun, I'm sorry. I'm not in the best of mood today, and I wish to be alone by myself..." Feeling Shun's presence inching closer to her. "Please I beg of you. Do not come any closer..." As she bit her lips and stopped herself from meeting his eyes. "Because if you do...." Her voice breaks. Sounding so small and fragile. "I wouldn't be able to hold myself together any longer..." And droplets of tears began to fall from her eyes as she broke into tears.

Kaoru Hana Wa Rin To Saku - Chapter 31 Release Date: Summer Breaks!
Tumblr media
The summer breaks are near, and Rintaro has his plans set for it! Kaoruko loved the cake made by Rintaro and his father. Rintaro was so moved by the call that he decided to learn to bake cakes by himself through the summers and make Kauruko happy again. That's all good but before we dig more deeply into it, let's take a quick peek into the synopsis of Kaoru Hana Wa Rin to Saku and what the manga is all about. The Kikyo Girls' School was a fancy private school with a pretty campus, and Chidori High School was a bottom-feeder boys' school with lots of delinquent pupils. Kaoruko Wakuri visited Rintaro Tsumugi's family's cake shop while he helped out in his family's cake shop, where he was a quiet and strong second-year student. When Rintaro spends time with Kaoruko, he feels comfortable. She attends Kikyo, however, and all of the girls there seem to dislike Chidori boys. Story of two high school kids who are close and yet very far apart. The next section is the preview of the last chapter, so you can skip that if you are up-to-date with the manga episodes and see the next section of release dates and times. Kaoru Hana Wa Rin To Saku - Chapter 30 Recap Rintaro was desperate to hear from Kaoruko about the gift he gave to her. The cake was made by him as his father. Rintaro's parents saw his nervousness right through him, and suddenly he got a text from her. Kaoruko wants to talk to him, and he calls her after reading the text.  She loved the cake! And on top of that, she shared the cake with her family, and they all liked it. Kaoruko was thankful to him and asked when his birthday was. Rintaro told her his birthdate, which was early in the year. Rintaro felt eternal happiness seeing her laugh and decided to keep it that way. After the call was hunged up, he decided to learn how to bake a cake. He asked his parents if he could help them in the summer and learn how to bake a cake. They agreed! And said that he could work in the bakery whenever he wanted as they all are family. His parents realized that he got nice friends that made him smile more often. In the end, his father tried a silly joke and tried to make the bakery work sound very hard, but her mother stopped it right there.  Kaoru Hana Wa Rin To Saku - Chapter 31 Release Date And Time Kaoru Hana Wa Rin To Saku - Chapter 31 release is still unknown, but it is expected to be released before 27th November 2022. Flowers: Printemps
I made it! The review of Flowers: Printemps is done before the Winter stream tonight. @iscahwynn usually I ask the patron before I write the review if there’s anything they’d like me to answer, but I was in a crunch, a bit, so if there is anything you’d like me to answer, just let me know and I’d be happy to! 2300 words.
Firstly, I made a mistake. Before I go into this, I want to say: A) The mistake was mine. B) If I had to fuck up in this way, I am so very glad that I did it for someone who has always been a really wonderful and understanding patron. C) Thank god it was for a series that I would go on record as saying I broadly enjoy.
That being said, I am never taking a visual novel commission again. I charged for it like a book review, and it probably took me three or four times as long to complete. I don’t know what IDIOT thought I had in my head that I could completel a visual novel as quickly as an actual novel, and that the only thing slowing me up was the streaming, but I was out of my goddamn mind. So! Iscah has gotten the only visual novel commission that will ever exist, because what I’d have to charge for it even at the lowball per hour I do book reviews, it would be too high.
OKAY NOW TO THE ACTUAL GAME.
Trying to figure out how I feel about this game, contrasted with the other two. Autumn is most definitely my favorite. Yuzuriha made me absolutely insane, but in a way that by the end of the game, was affectionate in nature, really. I think I actually would have liked her more from the get-go if I had played the two games before it first, because I would have been more used to her bullshit. Or maybe not! Autumn gave me a chance to get at the core of Yuzuriha’s weird stuff, so by the time I was playing Spring, places where I very much would be annoyed with her (And sometimes still am: I swear to god if she asks if it’s that time of the month again I’m gonna blow) I rolled my eyes and simply said, “Oh my god, you ain’t shit Yuzu” and moved on with my day. Like, I know she’s a fucking loser so it didn’t bug me.
ANYWAY, Autumn was definitely the best of the two as far as storyline, school uniforms, and everything else. But I can’t decide if I like this or Summer better.
I like Erika a LOT more as a character. She is still my ultimate fave, and she and Chidori are my ultimate couple. But the way they treat Erika’s disability in Summer hugely rankles me, and it’s just a level of infantilization that is largely absent in Spring and Autumn. I’m not going to waste 86% of this review of Spring litigating the problems I had with Summer’s engagement with a disabled character, so suffice to say it was deeply annoying.
Spring’s pacing is horrendous. I mean, in a way that I found not fun. This took me forever to play not only because playing a visual novel takes much much more time than reading a book, but also because sometimes halfway through a session I would find myself bored and distracted, which, I mean I know I’m an ADHD shit, but isn’t an issue I had much with the other two games, and I don’t think that was just because of the streaming. I’ve been bored with things I was actively streaming before. I think it just maanges to constantly feel like you are spending forty years in the desert. Which is a bummer, because the moments that land are so very good.
Anyway, let’s talk about some of the moments and characters and we’ll see if I can reach a conclusion.
I think part of the trouble here is that I don’t emotionally connect with Suoh. I find a lot of her “thing” extremely, I guess, self-centered. She is so convinced that people are thinking about her and looking at her, and so every moment of her life she has to be thinkling about how she can’t have friends because she’s just SO awkward, and I know I should feel bad for her, I know that is the intention of the narrative, but when she’s fucking SURROUNDED by people who are being nothing but kind nad warm to her and constantly being told how gorgeous she is, it all comes off a bit pathetic. That being said! Characters like Suoh are most definitely NOT my thing, and I get that and I own that. It’s the ‘sad nerd’ thing, which is not a character archetype I connect with at all.
This is going to sound strange but I really love the love triangle here. I gotta be me: I ort of wish Mayuri would have stayed liking Rikka and having to let down Suoh. But I know where I am! Buy the ticket, take the ride, and I wasn’t disappointed the way I was with say, Autumn, because at no point did the game REALLY let me think that they weren’t going to get together if I grew my flower right. But I enjoyed that, at least for a pretty large series of moments, we had Mayuri in love with Rikka instead of both fighting over Suoh. I thought that was great.
I actually thought the Bloody Mary stuff was really fun and creepy! It’s been my favorite handling of any of the Seven Mysteries thus far. I felt the tension was really good, and unlike Rikka, I really enjoy a good ghost story.
I also really enjoyed, and they do this a couple times but I’m thinking of the time with Mayuri in the baths in particular, the way they switched between times. So it would be a few hours or a day agao, and now. I wish they had done more of that in later games, though I can see how some people might have found it clunky. On that moment, as a small aside, boy was I about to murder the Sasakis for getting in the way of the big lesbian confession.
The Sasakis! It’s funny because I told Iscah this game made me like Ringo and Ichigo more than any other game had managed. I never disliked them, but they weren’t endeared to me the way they are now, and iscah told me a lot of people really disliked the Sasakis in this game, because, well, they’re little shits. They play a prank on Souh that’s a little mean-spirited, admittedly. They fucking fake a disappearance. They unintentiuonally out Mayuri. I would die for them. I can see where people are coming from, but they aren’t actively mean people, they’re just little goblins who think of something funny and then have no further thoughts beyond that. I DON’T wish I had played this before Fall, because I doubt I would have had as much faith in the series as I did, but I feel like the who Yuzu dating situation might have landed with me a bit better if I had known them so well and had the capacity to feel bad for them that I do now.
On Mayuri, boy don’t the writers think they’re being cute here! I figured out that her secret was the she was a lesbian really early in the game, for two reasonms. Number one, I’ve consumed a gay media. But number two, oh my god they are so obvious about it, up to and including--and this is the one I am openly and without apology making fun of-- having the Sasakis call her “Yuri” for short.
So That I expected and loved, but I would be lying if I didn’t say I was a little taken aback by the fact that the secret isn’t that she’s a lesbian, or rather, not jsut that, but that she fell in love with her nanny, a woman that she herself says was like a mother to her. I know that not everyone has the deep level of squick I do for anything that isn’t QUITE incest, but has a familial level of closeness tied into  it. I know that I think that’s fine. But for me, it was extremely, “can we not?” I mean, unless I’m deeply mistaken about the state of Japan, I think there’s still enough embarrassment about being a lesbian that Mayuri could feel strange about it. Or she could just be a weirdo! Or she could have been rejected before! There are so many options here that don’t necessarily have to be falling in love with a parental figure.
I LOVE LOVE Rikka forcing Suoh to be in a relationship with her. 800 points to Rikka Hanbishi for being so much more interesting than I have ever found her in any Floweers property thus far! And they did it by making her terrible! She is deeply besotted with Suoh, and at first early in the game that’s very cute and for awhile I just feel really bad for her because if you ask human beings named Doc who are me, Mayuri acts a little bit like an ass in the beginning
One thing this whole series of games does, and I think it does it really well, is have a light touch with people’s backstories. I DESPERATELY want to know more about Rikka being adopted and feeling like she will never ever measure up to the family she’s been adopted into. I want to hear so much more about that, and we fucking DON’T, and that’s so normal and real and natural, and I think it is such an amazing touch from a genre, not just visual novels, but yuri manga and anime are abd about this too, that tend to dump backstory on you. I am in love with and obsessed with their choices here. Same with how we never hear much about Erika’s family and we never find out why she can’t walk. She just can’t, and that’s that. Same with so much of Nerine’s backstory. I love it!
I do find it weird when Suoh is worried that other people won’t acept her for *reads notes* being emotionally abused by her stepmother? Mayuri I get. Mayuri’s thing is very fucking weird and I could see how people would be a little “eeeehhh” about it, but Suoh doesn’t have that. Under what banner could she possibly be rejected?
ADORE that she fails at the recital, that there’s this whole buildup about the soloist and accompanist having this deep bond, and you know it’s gonna be Mayuri and you’re expecting this beautiful clear, moment, and she fails! Suoh fails! She can’t get through the song! I was not expecting that at all, and I was so excited about it. What an amazing choice, to have the heroine fail.
I expected so so much more of Mayuri’s disappearance, and I am genuinely a little disappointed. So much is made of it in the latter two games, especially Summer, and so I was expecting a lot of emotional turmoil, and heaviness, and whispers, and drama. But, bitch is gone for like four minutes, including the credit roll. I’m with Chidori here, “What? It’s not like she died.” and so I think it actually made me scoff a bit more at so much being made of it in Summer, because I don’t think they ever really let the emotional resonance of the situatiuon sit with me in Spring. So, I’m glad I have the backstory for Winter. I am now totally set up to get what’s going on through Winter. But I don’t feel any more connection to Mayuri’s disappearance.
Hopes for Winter:
More Erika! I can never have too much Erika. I hope they treat her well, also.
This is me beginning for disappointment, I fear but I actually would like to see Rikka and Suoh get together. I know I shouldn’t, I know I should want Rikka’s overeagerness to not be rewarded, but sometimes I’m a soft touch and can’t help myself.
I don’t know if we’re supposed to get anything resolved with the Seven Mysteries, but I assume we’re going ton find out something about Mayuri’s disappearance? So maybe, anyway, i’d love to see more stuff that’s not just Sister Dahlia fuckin around or whatever.
In this game, Suoh has a line that I specifically wrote down, that she had many experiences this year at the academy “more bad than good” and I’m curious to see how that comes out. What? Mayuri disappeared? People have been really good to you here, Suoh, please explain.
BULLET POINT THOUGHTS FROM MY NOTES
The ballet fanservice seems very feminine. It is light, and sexy but in a very casual and airy way
If in fact the Japanese translation of, I guess, the ENTIRE chronicles of Narnia she's reading have changed lines to be more palatable, I think that sucks
"Foreign literature can have hidden ideas implied in the text" suoh I hate to inform you this is just called literature
This flower shit is INSANE when we could just...see that one of v these books is Erika's
Both neris father and grandfather were priests I'm DYING, and sister dhalia’s father too? Holy fuck no one in this game understands how priesthood works, fuck me ahahah
Oh my God is ichigo talking about a dogs purpose? That book was annoyingly mawkish
Just how mentally weak are you? Fuck I love erika. If you don't want to do it you can just refuse YES. In general,  as an American rural jew, I have no patience for the 87 levels of politeness of Japanese,  but the way erika weaponizes them and the way the narrative KNOWS SHE IS DOING IT gives me such fondness
Encounters on spring tying together in summer ripening in fall melting together in winter hmmmm
