Alex takes the gift reluctantly, unsure of how to react. “I feel like I haven’t been nice enough to warrant any kind of gift.” They look at you, quirking a small smile. “But I can’t say I dislike it. Now I have to think of something to give you.”
“You don’t have to—“
“If it means making you feel how I feel now, then yes, I do. I can’t let you one-up me.” Alex walks backwards, retreating to their room. The mischievous smile on their face is one you’ve seen often enough, but it holds a new sort of warmth that Alex has never shown you. They almost look…shy, but that can’t be, right? Alex doesn’t get shy—
Right?!
Perry
“Oh—“ Perry stares down at the gift, eyes wide. He takes it from your hand, his throat bobbing. “Thank you, this—is sweet.” He smiles a little, raising his hand to cover his mouth, almost as if he can’t suppress his happiness. “I don’t know what to say.”
His hazel eyes dim with an emotion you can’t place when he meets your eyes again. “I will treasure this. This is the best thing anyone has ever given me, thank you.”
Noah/Nora
N stares at the gift with wide, almost panicked eyes. “For me?”
You nod.
“But…why?” Seemingly realizing how that sounds, N shakes their head fervently. “Not that I don’t like it, I’m just—just surprised—ah, I don’t—“ N’s pale cheeks brighten into a flush so deep it reminds you vaguely of a tomato. “I don’t know what to say.”
You push the gift toward them and they take it cautiously, their lip twitching as if they’re hesitant to smile.
“Thanks.” N ducks their head, letting their hair fall in front of their face. It’s in that moment that N feels confident enough to smile. You suppose they thought you couldn’t see…
Dani
Dani looks down at the gift, staring at it. “What’s this?” It comes off almost suspiciously, but with a hint of nervousness that’s never been there before.
“For you,” you repeat, pushing the gift to their chest.
Dani swallows, grabbing the gift with delicate fingers. They let out a small exhale through parted lips. “For me? Why?”
You huff. Geez, can they just take the gift?
Fortunately, a second later they do.
“Thank you.” Dani shoots you a rare, reluctant smile. It brightens their whole face. “I’m grateful for it. I will get you something in return—“
“You don’t—“
“I want to,” Dani says, more firmly this time. They hold your gaze in a way that makes you warm.
Kade/Kiera
K’s brows shoot up in surprise, and they grab the gift. “I didn’t get you anything.”
“You didn’t have to.”
“It’s not my birthday yet—“
“I know.”
“We’re not celebrating anything—“
“I know,” you echo. “I just wanted to.”
“You just wanted to…” K’s voice trails off. You catch them exhale slowly, before looking back at you with a smirk. “Is this your way of getting on my good side? Because…well, it’s working.” Their voice lowers into a mumble at the last word and they look up at you behind their lashes almost nervously.
Catching K off guard? It feels like a victory.
Finn/Fera
“For me!?” F takes the gift, their mouth shaped into a firm O of surprise. “Thank you!” F hurries to open it, and they laugh a little. “You should’ve told me, I would’ve gotten you something!”
F looks up at you, their toothy grin almost blinding. “I’m really happy.“ F looks back down at the gift, a secret smile on their face. “You make me happy, MC.”
Oof. Doesn’t F know not to say such things so casually?
Everett/Eva
E quirks a brow at the gift. “This is mine?”
You nod.
E laughs a little; a small, almost imperceptible huff of a breath. “What did I do to deserve this?”
“I just wanted to give it to you.”
E holds your gaze for a moment, their eyes darting around every inch of your face. You sense they’re searching for something, and it makes you fidget. “Careful, or I’d think you find me special, MC.” The teasing in their voice shifts into something else entirely: into something softer, heavier with meaning.
The cool expression on their face finally melts into a small smile. “Thank you.”
Andrei
The tears begin forming in his eyes, and he takes it with shaking hands. “F-for me?”
“Andrei, don’t make it a big deal—“
“THANK U SO MUCH I AM GOING TO FRAME THIS I WILL STARE AT IT EVERY MORNING.”
“Sigh.”

Hello nicole just read the demo and I loved it! Not sure if you're taking ro asks but I would love to know how would the ros react to an almost kiss situation? Mcs all shy and glancing at their mouths? 👀
I'll answer this as an pre-relationship almost-kiss but not quite there yet shhshs
F: Would catch MC and totally try to lighten the mood in order to hide the fact that they’re nervous. They usually never get nervous so humor is their first defense mechanism.
“My eyes are up here, MC.”
And then F would definitely go for it (if you accept, of course) no matter what like even if you met them a day ago, F loves quick and loves hard lolol
Perry: he gets nervous at any sign that someone may be interested in him (even more if its someone he’s interested in). If he caught MC, he’d start awkwardly fumbling, trying to change the subject or do something to distract himself. He’s definitely the RO most likely to ask and have the “I would like to kiss you now” moment.
Alex: try to act nonchalant about it, but fails and will just shift out of panic. Alex is usually indifferent to most things but not MC, so they’ll def be like “what is happening to me right now what are these Feelings™” Especially if you have a bold MC, so something like:
“Your face is red.”
“It’s because it’s hot in here. That’s all. Don’t be weird.” And it’s definitely not that.
Dani: notice you staring, get nervous, will get angry at themselves for getting nervous, and then say something accidentally rude that totally backfires and then will hate themselves for it and most definitely write about it in their notebook
N: they are a normally quiet character with very little desire to speak but when they’re nervous…oh can they talk, once they notice you they’ll start chatting away, in the midst of their blabbering they’d def be looking at your mouth too, evidently wanting to, but not being brave enough to go for it
K: K is a mixed bag. they will never admit to anything that has to do with being vulnerable so they’ll totally just walk away. PLSHSHSH like literally just turn around and walk out of the conversation before they do something unwise a.k.a kiss MC when they’re not sure of how MC feels (getting rejected would be their worst nightmare) but if they know you're interested, they are quite a bold character, they're very sure of themself.
Eva/Everett: they are very polite and straight-laced, so they'd ask you straight up: “MC, are you…interested in me, perhaps?” and the rest is history
F and K are the most bold in terms of their romances, which is nice. thank you for loving the demo and for the ask! <3

Can you describe the ROs romance route tropes? (friends to lovers, enemies to lovers etc) thanks!

So I have quite ambitious plans for the routes since I have a plan to have every romance (and the platonic) route have a main conflict that encompasses that route. I just feel like narrative romance is more satisfying/realistic with obstacles lol
I’m not going to put like actual labeled tropes for all of them mostly because I feel like they can’t really encompass it so-
Perry: friends to lovers/ hiding a Big Secret? Unable to be honest with each other
Alex: unable to open up, emotionally detached RO, struggle to come to terms with feelings, doesn’t like Feelings lol
Dani: enemies to lovers? Doesn’t know what they’re feeling/how to handle it. Wants to push MC away for MC’s sake because loving them is DanGeRoUs
E: relationship baggage, afraid to fall in love again, can they fit MC in their busy life?
N: hard to trust, can’t fall for MC in fear of getting distracted, afraid of leaving MC behind
F: too good to be true, afraid MC won’t take them seriously, afraid of getting left behind by MC/rejected by MC
K: not sure if they’ll scare MC away, afraid to show their true self, don’t want to be vulnerable/don’t want to show their feelings only to be rejected over it, never really loved before so unsure of how it all works
and that’s without their backstories/pasts getting in the way! 🫶 so buckle up kids this ride is gonna get ANGSTY

How do the ros act when jealous?
hey and sorry for the really delayed answer!
I'm not big on jealousy plots (because if it's not written right, it can easily dive into unhealthy/toxic territory) but they do all have a little level of jealousy haha and you'll prob see it later in the story
ill stick to early relationship/pre-relationship and towards the person making them jealous, not MC (mostly because I don't want to write characters who get angry at MC based on their own jealousy/perception. It's not MC's fault they're jealous yk yk)
Alex: they would get snarky. Naturally, they're a smart-ass, but if it's toward a person that's taking MC's attention, they'd definitely start amping up the sarcasm levels to a point where that person would be like "can't tell if they're insulting me or not." Alex is normally pretty blunt, but they also don't like showing their vulnerable feelings, so it's an interesting mix. They wouldn't want to admit they're jealous, because that would be admitting that MC has some effect over them.
Perry: can't help but be kind, but he won't be happy about it. But instead of sarcasm like Alex, he'd be sort of passive-aggressive. Start doting on MC a lot more, that's for sure.
Kade/Kiera: pick a fight with the person as much as they can lol not much different than their usual personality, but that person would def start to feel targeted.
Finn/Fera: they would get kind of down, it's rare they're not the bubbly life of the party, so everyone would notice that they're sort of irritated. When F is upset...it's an Event due to how little it happens lol they'll be like a kid; trying to get MC's attention, try to impress MC, trying to keep MC to themself.
Nora/Noah: they'd be a shadow of darkness in the corner of the room, just pumping out negative energy and mentally wishing for lighting to strike the person where they stand LOL
any person who walks by them: "why did I just get a cold chill all of a sudden?"
(im trying to think of an anime that did this....the closest I can get is OHSHC Tamaki's habit of planting mushrooms whenever he's upset ?!@#$
(yes I do reference anime a lot im so sorry)
Eva/Everett: is honestly very mature, and has had multiple mature relationships. So they don't get jealous often, but the rare times they do, they'd honestly just be close to MC and start being very much like Alex in the sense that they'd use their smart mouth to make the other person uncomfortable lol. Then they'd be extra to MC and be real suave to remind MC who they are lolol
Dani: would just be extra rude to the other person lol, and they'd turn rarely affection and nice to MC. Everything that person says will irritate them, and they'd prob provoke the person on purpose lmao

Perry: teleportation (only at a certain distance at a time)
Alex: shapeshifting (any animal--no humans--but they feel closest to/more attached to their feline shift for reasons you will find out later)
F: speedster
K: duplication (of themself)
D: elemental manipulation (all four elements-water, earth, air, fire-but they prefer fire...surprise surprise.) (Dani is basically an angry Aang)
N: invisibility...which is very on brand but you guys dont know that yet shshhs

What traits draw the ROs towards someone at first? What do they actually need in a partner and relationship?
ohhh good question (and sorry for the delayed answer!)
K likes someone with a little fire in them, someone who is honest, who isn't afraid of saying their opinion. You will find that choosing the options that may offend other characters is actually liked by K, mostly because they appreciate honesty more than anything else. K's whole thing is about 'tough love' so they appreciate that in return because that's their way of seeing someone actually cares enough to speak up
N likes someone understanding, someone with patience. You don't have to agree with what they do but you have to at least see their perspective. They don't like someone who is too pushy, too persistent (example: trying to force them to do something they don't want to). Sometimes just being a quiet supporter is the best approach with them.
D likes someone who is real, lol someone who can face the truth, be honest to both themselves and everyone else about their reality (for optimistic MCs this can be more like: I understand this is a bad situation but im going to stay positive and hope for the best) they don't mind a little push back, either
E appreciates someone strong-willed, with high determination, someone who won't let anyone stop them from getting what they want, someone who doesn't just lay down on their back and wave a white flag. They don't want to be a dominant force in a relationship (as they are dominant in every other aspect of their life) but rather an equal. Unsurprisingly, E likes people like them lmao
Alex will be completely won over by a charming MC, someone who is funny, surprisingly they don't mind someone overly energetic because it balances them out
Perry: they value kindness above all things, they like optimism, someone who cares about others, someone who is willingly to try even if they don't want to
F: doesn't have any specific traits they're drawn to, as long as that person is fun and can have a good time with them. what they don't like though is being talked down to like a kid. Their behavior lends them to a lot of condescension so they'd appreciate a partner who steers clear of that and accepts them as is
of course, even if your MC doesn't fall under this parameters, that doesn't mean you can't romance/get close to them. this is just what a 'canon' relationship would look like (and their perspective sort of steers their reactions to different options) so yeah!

Kade/Kiera ???? | 26 years old | Studious - Reserved - Honest
As the second oldest in the house, it only makes sense that leadership defers to K when Perry isn't around (though, it's rare), but even if their age wasn't a factor, K's sharp wit and brutal honesty could whip anyone into shape. In their eyes, they are the smartest person in any room and 9/10 times, it's the truth. But that means that K can be a hard pill to swallow at times, considering they don't filter or change themselves for anyone. Can't take their heat? Get out of the kitchen...or library, in this case.
Appearance: 5'11. dark brown skin described as sallow, as if they haven't slept. They don auburn locs that are tied by a single leather band (sometimes in a ponytail or bun) and hazel eyes. They are usually seen wearing a navy green vest and a polo with gray pants, or a navy green vest over a gray dress. African-American.
Likes: crime novels, the library, debating
Dislikes: being wrong, being the butt of a joke (see: F), Perry…(sometimes)
Notable aspects: K is never wrong. Ever. Even when they are. The house is split between letting them think they’re right or risking their wrath by confronting them. It’s a choice everyone had to make upon their first argument (and you will make one too).

Which of the ROs are family people. I mean if they had a normal life again which would want to get married and have kids.
aww sweet question
Definitely Perry, Finn/Fera and Nora/Noah. They are the most family orientated in the house, but N would be more reluctant to have kids because of the world we live in, while Perry is all for it: white picket fence, taking kids to school…all of it
Alex and Kiera/Kade aren’t against it, but they’re not like…aching for it haha Alex is more like *waves hand* “i guess” while Kiera/Kade is willing to settle down once they feel like they lived their life/have life figured out first. K isn’t real a big “kid” person, but they’re not completely against children
But K is a family person though, not as family orientated as the formers but they’re up there
Eva/Everett’s job makes it difficult for them to think about settling down ever, but they are very romantic so they’d want it, also they’re a huge mama’s child so they’re very big on family
Dani doesn’t see themselves getting married, and they have a lot of baggage they need to sort through before they even think of children (they’re not good with kids in the first place). I don’t really see Dani having kids any time soon or at all, it really depends on their character arc
I would say they’re all family people to some level, and that desire to be around family only heightens because of their imprisonment/their past traumas, it’s just different for all of them.

I had to think about this one actually but I think I got it down:
Perry is definitely acts of service on both ends. It's just so on brand lol
N, K and F would be quality time on both ends.
Dani would be words of affirmation. Of course, they'd do it in their own roundabout Dani way, but they are definitely someone who'd lift you up in times of need. As for receiving, I think it also remains the same.
Alex would be physical touch. In the beginning, Alex isn't exactly very affectionate, mostly out of their natural inclination to remain indifferent, but as MC gets closer, they are surprisingly affectionate. Touchy. I wouldn't call them clingy, but they're not shy about their feelings (once they reveal them) lol. As we know, Alex doesn't really have much shame. They feel what they feel, no one can make them feel bad about it
E would also be acts of service, I think. They work so much that the idea of someone taking the time out of their day to do things for them is like the pinnacle of romance lol but they are definitely a gift giver, on the opposite end. Grand gestures, and whatnot lol

Imagine MC and K, cuddled up somewhere. K's reading something, and doesn't realize that MC is reading along too. And when they turn the page, MC asks them to go back cause they weren't done yet. They flip the page back wordlessly, but are shaking their head. MC pouts, saying something like "I can't read as fast as you." After a couple of pages, MC is hit with a idea! "Hmmm, K? Could you read it out loud for me?~"

In lieu of the Halloween special, do the ROs watch horror movies, and which ones are horror buffs or straight up will die of a heart attack if they watched one?
YESS spooky asks!
horror buffs/horror watchers: Finn/Fera, Alex, Kade/Kiera
F is a participant: they will scream and gasp when appropriate and will get suuper invested no matter how campy or illogical the movie is
Alex is a comedic watcher: they’ll make fun of the movie, especially the campy ones (when they don’t fall asleep lol) They will laugh at the jump scares (they don’t ever get jumpscared its insane) and will be the one to be like “I bet you she’s gonna die now….told you 😹”
K sees it as more of a way to kill time. They’ll also pick it apart like a critic and talk about the logistics (“that’s totally not possible/why is he going downstairs? who would do that?”) they also don’t get scared lol
All three of them watching together would be eventful (Alex doesn’t talk too much except when they’re trying to purposely ruin it for everyone lmfao, the other two are talkers)
Dani doesn’t get scared, but they don’t really watch horror movies cause it’s too unbelievable for them and they can’t suspend their disbelief (terrible movie partner honestly)
Perry hates horror movies and gets VERY scared too easily! He’ll watch if coerced, but behind his eyes lol and he’ll be asking questions THE WHOLE TIME
(the rest of the house: “dude we’re watching this the first time just like you stfu”)
Noah/Nora just doesn’t like it haha they get scared and will jump but they won’t get audibly scared, honestly they’ll stop watching midway just because they don’t like the feeling of fear lol
And Everett/Eva does get scared haha but they’ll pretend they don’t, they like horror movies though, and get super concentrated and start making theories and predicting who will survive/die lol
Andrei would get TERRIFIED and is just not a good horror partner because he would end up scaring everyone else due to his reactions 😭

May I have some K facts please 🥺
ofcccc your wish is my command, friend <3 im currently writing a scene with them in chapter two actually
K barely sleeps. They stay up often and are usually tired, but know how to hide it and have a very weird ability to function on like 2 hours
K's favorite book is The Strange Case of Jekyll and Hyde
K loves to debate and loves arguing, you will see them perking up at whiff of an impending argument lol (alternatively, they hate losing)
K tolerates N the most
they get very embarrassingly excited over crime novels, and those are the rare times K is actually very expressive cute lol
they're good at everything academic, but they're a terrible artist (and hate it) (f has convinced them to doodle something once--once!--and they have not lived it down since. they will never pick up a pencil ever again)

What would K be like with an MC that had a personality like theirs? 😂 Everytime I read a new thing about K I relate to them and I worry because whenever someone asks me if I would date someone like me I say "hell no".
That’s so funny but I think K would say the same thing 😭 lol I feel like they do have enough self awareness to know that their honest nature and rather blunt, emotionally detached approach to things may not be for everyone, and that goes for themself lol imagine two K’s bickering and fighting all the time?
What works is that K would appreciate having an intellectual and emotional equal, and someone they can feed off of both mentally and personally. They like when people understand that K doesn’t come from a place of harm, just honesty. Telling people what they need to hear rather than what they want to hear is K’s way of caring and showing they love the person.
Plus, they’re adaptable; even someone similar to them is someone they can get along with if they like the person enough aha
