And it's finally here, the cozy series I've been talking about for ages! I was up till 3 am, sorting out my mods and updating everything that needed to be updated because my game decided that it would be a good idea to update automatically. Backstory: Elise, a once career-driven individual, shifted her focus entirely to creating a nurturing and loving environment for her daughter, Iris, after becoming pregnant. Her husband was a pillar of support throughout this transition, making things considerably easier for her. However, tragedy struck when her husband unexpectedly passed away in a car accident, leaving Elise to face immense hardships. With her world turned upside down, Elise found herself grappling with grief, single parenthood, and financial strains. She made the difficult decision to move to Willow Creek, seeking a fresh start and a supportive community to help her navigate this new chapter of life. The move was not just a physical relocation but also a symbolic step towards healing and rebuilding her life for herself and Iris. This series is mostly centered around them adjusting to their new environment, settling in, and overall their day to day. I hope you guys enjoy it! Welcome to Emberwood.

An Emberwood Halloween: 2022 Special

Halloween has rolled into the sleepy town of Emberwood in the shape of a festive carnival. You and the Dufner residents (and E) have decided to take a break from the craziness in Emberwood for some well deserved reprieve.

Dress up in a costume (or don't) and hang out with the group or your favorite RO. Remember: be sure to have fun and enjoy the lighthearted atmosphere because it does not last :)

Features:

Go ferris-wheeling with Alex

Play a stall or two with Perry

Go on a swing ride with K

Go pumpkin carving with N

Get lost in a corn maze with Dani

Grab a bite to eat with F

Go to a haunted house with E

Or engage in a very mature and adult round of hide-and-seek with the Dufner residents, but be careful: you can lose.

(This is non-canon bonus content and isn't part of the main storyline.)

Some notes:

Though the individual routes take place in a non-canon point in time in which romantic feelings have been established, I have added options that aren't so...overtly romantic? Of course, it is still romance-coded, but for those who do not enjoy romance, I feel it can still be enjoyable in some way or the other.

The stories are short and sweet (at least for me), as well as the group route. The group route works in a way that you can make one choice and lose, or you can go through more than one scene before you lose. You may or may not interact with the characters depending on what you choose. It's really just a fun side story for those who do not want to play any individual character scenes, but for full transparency: the individual routes have a bit more meat in them, mostly because some of their backstories are sprinkled in the conversations (very briefly, but yk). The group route is pretty brief, mostly because I accidentally deleted a third of it in writing like last minute and wanted to rip my hair out.

ALSO: the mc is…slightly pre-set. I was not thinking of diverse options but more of just how to propel the story forward. In future specials, I think I’ll stick to bold/shy and different types of MCs, but as this is my first, I decided to go with my gut haha

there’s really no trigger warnings except for quite a bit of cursing (and f-bombs) and F’s route has to do with eating. So there will be mentions of food and eating ! Please be wary of that! <3

As always, as I do not have beta testers (yet) if you find errors, typos or formatting problems or any of that sort, please let me know and I'll fix them asap. This is just a fun side piece I did, so please don't take it too seriously!

Author's Notes: I have this image in my head of Baz running towards someone with their arms out, wanting to hug the person then stopping just before they actually do bc Baz remembered they have to ask if they can hug people. If given the okay they give the biggest, comfiest hug ever. They even slightly lift the person off the ground. @emberwood-if I'm gonna tag you every time I post one of these lolol

I love that I made the decision difficult for you. I saw this ask right when I was writing with Perry so I choose Perry!

For context (and for any new players/followers):

Want to reiterate that Emberwood can be a romance (if you choose) but I've settled with calling the romance routes more drama, or 'angstmance' because none of these relationships are 100% healthy or pure aha...

Perry: if you like friendly, warm, nice, very 'easy' route in terms of emotion. It's by no means smooth sailing, but Perry is a very open and willing person, and emotionally in-tune with himself.

Route: friends to lovers // daddy issues //personality switch// 'love at first sight' (if you pursue him romantically thats what it he would claim it is) // mentor/mentee relationship (which will make Perry more hesitant) // possible age gap // possible unhealthy attachment

E: I always say E is the most mature route of all of them, mostly because the main obstacle of their route is having to deal with them choosing their job >>> over anything and anyone else. They've also had been very badly burned by love in the past, so they're not eager to be in a relationship.

Route: brokenhearted by ex // lying to them // work over personal life // another mentor/mentee relationship (which is based solely on whether you choose that) // possible age gap

Alex: Alex is emotionally empty, very indifferent and does not see themself ever getting vulnerable. I think they're best for players who like the 'emotional chase.' Most of the route is trying to break down Alex's walls. They are very guarded, so it won't be easy to get them to open up.

Route: indifference to attachment // distrust // has not faced their past and doesn't want to lol // will purposely push MC away by any means necessary

Dani: Angry. Angry. Angry. Dani is very hard to please, rude, brash, abrasive but they have a heart...deep down. They care about others in their own way, and they can be surprisingly witty when they want to be.

Tropes//Themes: rivals to lovers // 'Stay away from me, I will hurt you in the end' vibes // unhealthy emotional...regulation? // morally grey //

F: F is very bright and very easy to talk to, cheerful, fun. Very sweet, I think F is very easy to love, both from a friendship and a romantic stand point. Of course, loving them actually wont be easy

Route: has never experienced love // insecure with themselves // for MC's that are on the older side, this will prove to be another obstacle due to the nature of F's past //

N: N is a hermit, quiet, doesn't speak much and has a lot of anger inside them. You won't talk to them much unless you're on their platonic and/or romantic route lol unfortunately or if you go out of your way to choose choices that are directly interacting with N.

Route: reluctant friend to lovers // never sure whether N will be gone or not // inexperienced with romance // familial issues //

K: While intelligent and very serious, K is like F in the romance aspect. While their route is heavy, it's not as heavy as say, Alex or Dani, but it's up there. But the romance is a lot more straight forward, mostly because K is straight forward.

Route: familial issues // powerful parents // has not faced their past // difficult to open up
