the thing is i might actually like ghd more than great comet at this point and while i do think ghd was woefully underappreciated at the tonys....i still think great comet deserved best musical
#but know that that's by like. the slimmest razor thin margin ever.#cfa is up there too it's a three way battle to me. cowboy standoff.#for as good as ghd is it doesn't quite break the mold of bway book musical/production design as radically as cfa or comet#and i do think best musical should go to the most important and groundbreaking show of the lot#(well if it comes down to 'all the finalists are incredibly well written and well performed shows)#(that would in any other race be the obvious pick)#(deh you don't count)#and ghd doesn't move the art form forward quite as much. but gd i wish more people saw it it is soooo good#sasha speaks

The University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts (CFA), where the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) used to be (CVM gradually moved to UP Los Baños in June 1983). CFA is the country's oldest educational institution in design and the arts. Its origins preceded the foundation of the university, dating back to the early 19th century when the Academia de Dibujo y Pintura, the country's first art school, was established on 8 October 1823, in Binondo, Manila, by Damian Domingo with the assistance of La Sociedad Económica de Amigos del Pais. Although it was temporarily closed in 1834, the Spanish government revived it in 1845 with the patronage of Queen Isabela II.
The reestablished Academia welcomed Spanish art professors who introduced European Classical art traditions. Notable artists like Simon Flores and Juan Luna emerged from this institution, later achieving international recognition. Flores garnered a silver medal at the Philadelphia Universal Exposition of 1876. Luna's Spoliarium won a gold medal at the 1884 Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes en Madrid. Earlier, in 1881, Luna's La Muerte de Cleopatra won a silver medal. By 1891, the Academia transformed into the Escuela Superior de Pintura y Grabado.
In 1908, the Philippine Assembly, during the American colonial era, passed Act No. 1870, formally establishing the University of the Philippines. Fine Arts became one of the university's original founding units alongside the Philippine General Hospital and the College of Agriculture.
Over the years, CFA has produced at least 11 National Artists for the Visual Arts: Fernando Amorsolo (Painting, 1972), Guillermo Tolentino (Sculpture, 1973), Carlos Francisco (Painting, 1973), Napoleon Abueva (Sculpture, 1976), Vicente Manansala (Painting, 1981), Cesar Legaspi (Painting, 1990), José Joya Jr. (Painting, 2003), Abdulmari Imao (Sculpture, 2006), Benedicto Cabrera (Painting, 2006), Federico Alcuaz (Painting, Sculpture, and Mixed Media, 2009), and Larry Alcala (Comics, 2018). CFA’s history not only reflects the evolution of the University of the Philippines but also mirrors transformations of Philippine art and art education in the country.

Teacher’s Day Celebration at CKP
On the eve of Teacher’s Day, we celebrated the occasion with the esteemed faculty and support staff of @college_of_fine_arts.cfa who have imparted their knowledge on us for the past 4.5 months. .We (students of Short Term Certificate Course – Weekend batch) held a small felicitation ceremony to honour our teachers and support staff. It felt good having celebrated Teacher’s Day after a long time.

art hint: people always share resources for reference pictures of people, but if you are an artist who draws cats a lot i offer you the CFA - The Cat Fanciers Association website. they are an association dedicated to professional show cats
you just go on the website and select breeds
in there you can select to see all the breeds they have or choose one you want
once you have selected a breed you can click on Breed and National Winners
from there you get a big gallery with pictures of show cats of this specific breed
at the top of every gallery you can sort the cats by pelt color and pattern
they have many different breeds, with lots of pictures of the cats in different poses and with different colors, its a good place to find references for cat pictures (though i think looking for show cats in general is a good way to find them)

Okay im being so real do you mind if I use your art of cats as a reference? I’m trying to relearn on how to draw cat faces and I’m using your art to help me out. I’m not sure if you would be okay with that???
If you'd like to sure I don't really mind, but if you post anything referencing specific pieces I've done I'd appreciate credit! Though I'd be cautious in general about primarily relying on art when learning to draw something, especially any particular artist. I get that it's easier to reference drawings a lot of the time since they're already broken-down/stylized more than a photo, but you'll also be referencing whatever quirks and inaccuracies the artist has intentionally or unintentionally put in the drawing, and my cat drawings are certainly not perfect and also tend to be anthropomorphized lol

Planning Ahead
this is something i'm still working on, actually. keeping a visual log of everything i need to do has been really useful, but it's still a pretty new habit for me.
the issue is that i really, really hate taking the time to have those things be nice- because then i get unmotivated when the load gets heavy and i can't keep it that way. no cute advice, this is my planner for solely function.
SHORTHAND. i use shorthand for everything. a list of my favorites:
ESP - spanish, or FR - french (really works for any foreign language class)
ENG/ELA - english language arts
MT (math) - CALC (calculus) - PCLC (precalc) - STAT (statistics) - ALG (algebra) etc
GEO/HIS (geography or history)
SCI (science) - BIO (biology) - CHEM (chemistry) - FNS (forensics) - PHYS (physics)
GFX (graphic design) - DRM (drama) - HLC (healthcare) - BSN (business) etc... for whatever electives you have, lol
PJ (project)
HW (homework)
CFA/QZ (common formative assessment/quiz)
SD/SG (study/study guide)
PKT (packet)
SM (submit)
UG (ungraded)
SUM (summative)
FORM (formative)
PG _ (page _)
NSR/EC (not school related/extra curricular)
DNO (due night of)
DIC (due in class)
DEOC (due end of class)
i combine these for little nicknames like ESPPJ, MTPK, GFXPJ, etc. or DRM (info) NSR, GFXPKT EC
DESCRIPTION. i add a quick description of the item, just so i know what it is. usually just the actual assignment name or what it entails. if it's at home reading for english, it'll say "ENGHW Reading PG __-__". a drama script might say "DRM Script DEOC"
DATE. i always add the due date. i write it as a fraction so that it takes up a tiny bit less space. if i know, this is where the time it's due is added too.
URGENCY. i had another post about how i decide an assignment's urgency here, so i throw one of these numbers on the end.
DON'T CARE ABOUT CUTE! the point of this is to keep info. build the habit for a while, and once you have logging things as a habit, you can make it cute. but if you're already having trouble building the habit, adding more work will make it more difficult in my experience. always add onto your habits that already exist.
USE IT! i've also seen people have full planners that are so so cute and then just. never use them??? you're making this so that you have a way to keep track. making it, and then just throwing it in your bag to not be seen until tomorrow is defeating the point. use what you made.
