Iāve been thinking of Kung Lao, not just MK1 but generally as a whole, and how heās always pushed asideānumber two. In some ways nothing is ever really his. Liu Kang, his best friend, becomes a god and goes onto to make a different timeline and stay there, and before that he got to be Earthrealmās champion(in mk11 Liu Kang seemed like everything anyone EVER talked about with him). And of course itās beyond that too: his name isnāt even his(ādescendant of the great Kung Laoā), and his destiny and goals seemed to be based a lot on something predetermined for him, itās a bit tragic.

Question, HOW DO YOU DRAW HANDS SO GOOD??

I could stop right here, since itās the right answer for this type of questions 99% of the time, but I will elaborate with some tips that helped me ā so maybe they will help someone too. :3
1. Just draw them
I know, I knooow, all the artists say that, and itās haaard and boooring, and the sketches are uglyyy- š© but it WORKS, because if you want to draw one good hand you must go through 100 bad ones. So take a sketchbook/tablet/tissue/magna doodle and get them out of your system, donāt wait for the ābig art pieceā to draw your first hand of the day.
2. Use references
If I could slŠ°p every person who spreads the idea āreferences = bad, you should draw from memoryā... š¶ Every professional artist/animator in every industry is using references (the main question is HOW to properly use them, but thatās another topic completely). And hands, being one of the trickiest things to draw, are actually the easiest to acquire the right reference for. They areā¦ literally RIGHT HERE, under your nose. Just put them in needed position, take a picture and draw~āØ
And for disŠ°bled artist and artists who canāt use their own hands for any other reason ā you can always just search for refs on Pinterest or use these resources:

Search for conductors and athletes photos ā the way they gesture and hold baton/sports gear is so nice to look at! Also saw people recommend cooking videos.
3. Learn from other artists
And I donāt mean just watching tutorials (like Sinix, for example), but if you see the art with cool hands ā find a minute to reflect on it, or even try to replicate the gesture. The best way of how to do it, as well as a few tips on drawing hands overall, was explained in this video by Ethan Becker. This (as well as his many other videos) was THE video that helped me to understand the way you can draw hands.
ā FAIR WARNING tho, his style and online persona areā¦ something š -and itās completely understandable if someone would not feel comfortable watching him. But heās NOT really being mean and heās NOT really mocking other artists, because behind the irony and fake aggression there are respect and very useful tips from an animation industry professional. And most importantly ā he will teach you HOW TO LEARN, his advises are changing the way you look at/do art. Heās mostly focused on the animations now, but I strongly recommend checking out his older videos.
4. Work from larger to smaller
There are several approaches to draw a hand and you can find the one that suits you by practicing. Learning the anatomy will help you to position the fingers the right way and the āblocks techniqueā is useful for understanding the forms/masses in 3D space and how they overlap each other. I love to work with shapes, it can give your art an interesting flow and itās simple enough to now feel overwhelmed ā which is good for the beginner artists. Hereās the small ātutorialā of how I usually draw hands. Letās take this blurry photo of me hand that I definitely didnāt took just now specifically for this post afdHHH
STEP 1. Drawing the shape of the palm.
STEP 2. Drawing the shapes of the fingers ā they love to cluster and hug each other sometimes. š„°
Tip 1. Check out this mass that is right next to the thumb! It will divide the palm in nice shapes and guide you, look for these forms on your references.
Tip 2. Sometimes itās easier to draw the fingertip FIRST where you want to put them ā and then connect it to the palm, not to build the finger from the palm.
STEP 3. Drawing fingers (hereās where you need to know the anatomy ā or just keep in mind that every finger has 3 parts and the thumb has 2), adding details, cleaning ā you know, draw the rest of the owl.
Tip 1. Keep in mind that the nail āhugsā your finger, so from a certain angles it looks like an arch.
Tip 2. The amount of details depends of your style and character physique/age: the shape of the fingers and nails, the wrinkles and fatā¦ Using your own hand for references is great for constructing the gesture, but for diversity look at different peopleās hands, seek the differences and implement them in your art.

ok i saw your post about manifesting asks and im here with some real dumb headcanons
- syzoth and ashrah have a heat lamp (because of course. coldblood.)
- they never go out to eat at buffets because they're absolute monsters
- literally ashrah has no table manners. and syzoth is a lizard
- whenever they go out to eat they have to HURRY home or syzoth will end up on the nearest warm surface to digest
- going off the assumption that earthrealm and outworld fauna are completely different, reiko would lose to a hippopotamus in kombat if he ever met one
- johnshi goes to the beach. kenshi relaxes on a towel under an umbrella and does cool beach shit. johnny digs an absolutely fucking giant hole.
- kurtis stryker had an emo phase in high school

You know how Sareena has a demon form? I headcanon the other members of the sisterhood of shadow also have a demon form. The more Ashrah redeems herself the less she is able to use it. But it still saps her energy and influences her behavior thus the insane appetite.ļæ¼
(I want to make some designs for them- Iāve already made one for Sareena where sheās a boar demon and Iām thinking maybe a crane for Ashrah bc her whole wing/holy theme. Idk for the other two)
Reiko also picked a fight with a kangaroo and it was more embarrassing than losing to Raiden šš¤ (he hasnāt even fought the large birds yet- his ass is not gonna survive)
Kenshi has his headphones in the whole time and ends up falling asleep and doesnāt notice when Johnny screams when the wave comes in and fills it with water. Theyāre still finding sand and Kenshi hates it.
Kurtis has gone scorched earth on his old photos and internet accounts but Kabal still managed to find some and teasing him about it.

Okay so how about some more Suchin headcanons and/or Kenshi/Suchin headcanons? Some wholesome stuff maybe. š„ŗ Please and thank you. š
I could talk about these guys for hourssss
I'm basing these off my au where Suchin is a vigilante/mercenary.
Brief backstory is her father was a retired Red Dragon member who after her mother's death turned to gambling, taking out several loans from the Red Dragon to afford it. Unable to pay the debt he killed himself, transferring the debt to a 19 year old Suchin who took to traveling around Asia. Hunting Red Dragon members and taking less than savory jobs to survive with the goal of destroying them/getting rid of the debt and returning to civilian life. She also has a danger sense causing her to be very paranoid.
Eventually she ended up in Japan on a lead where she met Kenshi who is still in the yakuza and, at the time, has his eyes (I'm blatantly mashing his backstories together)
Suchin, before the whole criminal thing, worked as a chef. When she realized Kenshi isn't that good of a cook and eats mostly takeout she decided to start making food for him.
It sounds sweet, but she's not normal about it (11 years on the run wrecks your social skills). She just starts to hand Kenshi bentos/tupperware at random times and doesn't comment on it. Also breaking into his apartment to use his kitchen, Kenshi doesn't know what's happening or why it started but he's not complaining.
Suchin doesn't like silence because her thoughts start to wander and it cranks up her paranoia so she talks to herself a lot. Mostly just mindless things like taking a verbal note of what she needs to do that day. And having one-sided conversations with people she's fighting.
She's thrilled when Kenshi starts to engage in her mindless chatter with his own two cents. Even more so when he gets comfortable enough to start the conversations. They've lost track of time doing nothing but talking for hours.
They cuddle a lot, even when they were still just friends and before they developed/realized they had feelings for the other. They started to share Kenshi's bed when Suchin moved in because they're both cheapskates and didn't want to buy another one.
When Suchin doesn't take photos and avoids cameras but she bought a small one to take pictures of animals she saw to show Kenshi.
