my solution to reseasoning cast iron pans that other members of your household have used for dubious purposes (without actually going through the whole process of reseasoning bc literally who has time for that) is just making a breakfast sandwich in there. fried bread soaks up whatever leftover crap was in the pan. a sunnyside up egg helps with the coating. and you have a delicious breakfast.

The morning started like any other in the triplets' house. The sun had barely risen over the horizon when the three found themselves in the typical kitchen, each of them still fighting sleep but ready to face another day of recording.
Nick was busy preparing breakfast, while Matt and Chris lounged lazily around the table, Chris with his head lying on the wooden surface.
"Smells good, Nick. What are you making?" Matt murmured, rubbing the drowsiness away from his eyes.
"Waffles and bacon." Nick responded in a low, slow tone, stirring the strips inside the ceramic frying pan.
"Bacon with waffles?" Chris grimaced, yawning loudly as he lifted his head, laying his body haphazardly on the chair.
Meanwhile, Y/N was still in her own world, enjoying a peaceful sleep in her shared room with Matt. However, her sleep was interrupted by the sound of a plate hitting the sink's marble counter, followed by a loud curse.
With a yawn, the girl slowly sat down on the bed, running a hand through her messy hair and running her sleepy eyes around the room, already having the idea that Matt was in the kitchen, where the sound had echoed from.
Seconds later, she got out of bed and headed to the bathroom, ready to start her morning routine. But something immediately caught her attention as soon as she entered the smaller room. On top of the sink was Matt's beard trimmer, an object she recognized all too well.
Her eyes widened in surprise, and she looked around, trying to process what she was seeing. Had Matt shaved his beard?
With her heart beating fast, Y/N ran back to the bedroom, grabbing the pajama shorts thrown on her boyfriend's gaming chair, quickly putting them on and finally leaving the room, completely ignoring her own messy appearance.
Back in the kitchen, the brothers were busy devouring the breakfast Nick had prepared. They barely noticed when Y/N walked out of the small hall that connected the room to her bedroom, her eyes fixed on Matt.
"Matt..." Her voice came out in an incredulous whisper as she approached, stopping in front of him and staring at his face intensely.
Matt looked up from his plate, smiling big when he saw her awake.
"Good morning, babe. How did you-" He interrupted his own sentence when he saw her condition, frowning in confusion and worry. "Hey, did something happen?"
Y/N swallowed hard, trying to maintain her composure, but the sight of Matt without a beard was too much for her. With a fake sob, she knelt before him, her eyes shining with false emotion.
"Matt, baby, how could you do this?" She whimpered, dramatizing every word. "You shaved your beard... The beard that I loved so much!"
The other two brothers watched the scene with wide eyes, not knowing whether to laugh or be worried about Y/N's reaction, unlike Matt, who took a few seconds to process what she had said, before a loud laugh escaped from his lips, his hands letting go of the food he was holding.
"We're done!"
Matt continued laughing, shaking his head in bewilderment.
"Y/N, did you hit your head?"

2. Girls' night (with a masculine touch)
The night was warm and cozy in the triplets' house as Matt, Nick, Chris, and Y/N gathered in the living room. After a long day of recording and, on Y/N's part, studying, they decided it was time to relax and have fun together.
"What are we doing tonight?" Chris asked, throwing his phone onto his lap and looking around at the others, lowering his body onto the upholstery.
"Can we do our nails?" The suggestion escaped Nick's lips quickly, his eyes shining with excitement. "And maybe do some skincare."
"Like a girl's night?" Y/N smiled, straightening her posture quickly, feeling just as excited.
"Why not?" Matt shrugged, staring at his nails with a contemplative look. "But I've never done my own nails before, I always do them with Analysse."
"It's just painting your nails, like watercolor. It's not difficult, honey." Y/N waved her hand dismissively, getting up from her seat and running to her shared room with Matt, looking for her box of nail polish and nail's tools.
With their gear gathered, they arranged themselves comfortably and strategically on the couch, ready to begin their impromptu night of beauty.
Y/N led the way, skillfully beginning to paint her own nails as she explained the process.
"First, you need to apply a base coat to protect your nails." She explained, opening the base coat and carefully applying it, being quickly followed by Nick.
The brothers watched with interest, watching each movement with concentration.
"That seems easy enough." Chris commented, taking the little bottle from Y/N's hand and starting to apply it to his own nails.
Meanwhile, Matt was carefully examining the available nail polishes colors, trying to decide which one to choose. Y/N's eyes found his figure, a smile growing on her face, feeling great love for his appreciation and care for the moment.
"How about a black one with white details?" Matt suggested, holding up two bottles in the mentioned colors, showing them to Y/N with a proud smile on his face.
"It's going to look amazing, my love."
Chris quickly picked out his own nail polish color with Nick's help, returning to his seat while swinging his legs eagerly.
They dipped their brushes into the nail polish bottles with determination but soon discovered that painting their own nails wasn't as simple as it seemed.
"This is harder than I thought." Matt grumbled as he tried to paint his nails without smudging, his fingers shaking slightly as his tongue lolled slightly out of his lips in concentration.
Chris nodded, his lips pressed tightly together as he tried not to move his hand too much.
"I think I'm doing this wrong..."
"You two are doing pretty well for beginners." Y/N laughed softly, watching the brothers fondly.
After some errors, everyone finally finished painting their nails, each proudly displaying their own piece of art, even if it was a little smudged.
"Look at us, a bunch of nail professionals!" Nick joked, blowing on his freshly painted nails with a smile.
"Yeah, I guess we could consider a new career." Matt contributed, admiring his nails with a satisfied expression before raising his hands, his nails facing Y/N as he wiggled his fingers excitedly.
"It's perfect, babe, congratulations!" Y/N praised, leaning towards him slightly and sealing the back of his right hand with her lips lightly, exhaling the fresh smell of nail polish and acetone.
"Maybe we should open our own men's salon." Chris smiled, shaking his hands to dry the nail polish faster.
Matt laughed out loud, imagining the scene of them painting other men's nails with the same determination and enthusiasm they had moments ago. It would be comical.

3. Video as a couple
Matt was nervous as he prepared to record his next video for his personal YouTube channel. It was still one of the first videos he posted there, and despite his enormous desire to make more content for his own channel, he felt an anxiety growing within him every time he thought about creating something new on his own.
Therefore, he decided to invite his girlfriend, Y/N, to participate with him in that specific one, taking advantage of the opportunity to introduce her as his girlfriend.
It's not that fans didn't know Y/N was his. They knew, and they knew it very well, but Matt never got around to introducing her as such officially.
"Are you ready for this?" He asked, looking at Y/N with a nervous smile.
"I should be the one asking you that." Y/N smiled small before nodding, holding his free hand affectionately. "But yes, I am. There's nothing I want more than to be said to be your girlfriend, baby."
With a nervous sigh, Matt began to set up the camera on the dashboard of the car, while Y/N settled into the passenger seat next to him, trying to calm him with words of encouragement.
"You'll do amazingly well, hon. I'm sure of it." Y/N said, leaning over the car console and giving him a soft kiss on the cheek.
Finally, everything was ready, and Matt began recording, his voice a little shaky at first but soon becoming more confident as he got used to the camera without his brothers around him.
"Hey! Welcome to my personal YouTube channel." He began, smiling slightly at the camera. "Today I have a very special guest for you to meet."
He turned his face to Y/N with a twinkle in his eye, who waved at the lenses, opening a shy smile.
"This is Y/N, my girlfriend." Matt continued, looking at her with big heart eyes. "Most of you already know her as our best friend, and maybe you already know about our relationship, but now we're finally going public to make it official... Well, she agreed to participate in today's video, so I hope you enjoy getting to know her a little better."
Y/N smiled as she watched her boyfriend introduce her as his, her cheeks taking on a reddish hue, feeling a little nervous and shy, but happy to be there next to him.
To make things more fun, Matt decided to answer some questions asked by fans about the two of them together or individually. He selected some of the funniest and most interesting questions and read them out loud for the two of them to discuss.
"Okay, first question." Matt began, looking at his phone in hand. "How we met?"
"Well, we actually met at a friend's birthday party from our school in elementary school. Matt was trying to impress everyone with his basketball skills, but he ended up hitting the ball over one of the girls' heads." Y/N laughed, remembering the story fondly.
Matt blushed at the memory, shaking his head and looking down, trying to hide the involuntary smile that took over his face.
"Next!" Matt cleared his throat, his voice coming out high-pitched from the shyness of the previous event. "What's the secret to a long-lasting relationship?"
"Oh, great question!" Y/N clapped her hands in excitement, lifting her legs and pressing the soles of her feet onto the seat, keeping her knees bent and tights against her chest. "For me, the key is communication and mutual support. It's important to always be honest with each other and literally be there through the good times and the bad."
"For sure, I also think it's essential to have understanding and empathy for each other. Being willing to listen and understand your partner's needs makes all the difference." Matt contributed.
He looked at his girlfriend, waiting for approval and receiving a big smile in return, which was accompanied by a nod.
"What's the most memorable memory you've had together?" Matt read the next question quickly, before looking up, his eyes alight with nostalgia. "There are so many wonderful memories to choose." He reflected, thoughtfully. "But one of my favorites was when we made our first unplanned trip together almost two years ago and ended up getting lost in a small town in Italy."
"Oh my God, so true!" Y/N threw her head back, laughing loudly at the memory. "That was an unforgettable experience. I remember we went to ask for directions at a small restaurant right on the corner from one of the alleys, and there were several pastas hanging, drying. I just asked the main chief what that was, and boom, we passed all day in that restaurant, tasting different types of fresh pasta and discovering more of their culture together."
As the video continued, Matt and Y/N shared more stories, laughs, and loving moments. They answered questions about their funny habits, their favorite couple traditions, and even their future plans together.
In the end, when Matt ended the video with a warm thank you to the fans who would watch it when posted, he turned to Y/N with a beaming smile.
"Thank you for doing this with me, petal." The brunette whispered, leaning over the car console and pulling her into a tight hug, smiling widely. "It meant the world for me."
"I'll always be here to support you, Matt. And I can't wait to make more videos together in the future." Y/N smiled, feeling happy to have shared that moment with Matt.

4. Kittens day
Y/N woke up excitedly that morning, knowing it was the day she would volunteer at the cat kennel like she always did every Tuesday. It was an activity she loved doing, and she always invited Matt to join her, but his work with YouTube always ended up interfering.
However, this time, Matt had surprised Y/N by making room in his schedule to join her. She couldn't wait to share this experience with him.
When they arrived at the kennel, they were greeted by the soft sound of meows and purrs. Y/N smiled when she saw the felines playing and snuggling on their colorful scratching posts of all possible sizes.
"It's so good to be here." She said excitedly to Matt, taking his hand as they walked through the decorated halls. "Cats are so adorable and deserve so much love and affection."
Matt smiled as he listened to her chatter about the felines, watching them and her with fascination.
The couple spent the day taking care of the cats, feeding them, cleaning their litter boxes, and, of course, playing with them. Y/N taught Matt the proper way to hold and pet kittens, and he was soon having as much fun as she was.
"I never want to leave again." Matt suddenly commented as, sitting side by side on the fluffy rug, they watched a group of kittens playing with a fur ball. "I understand why you love coming here every week."
"It's a special place, with special cats... You know, I'm really glad you're here with me today." Y/N smiled, lifting her head slightly to look at him better, feeling her heart warm when she realized that Matt was just as involved in the activity as she was.
"I'm glad too."
At the end of the day, as they were about to leave, Matt suddenly stopped, looking at a cat in one of the cages. It was an orange cat with bright blue eyes that stared back at him curiously.
"Wow, he is perfect." Matt whispered, slowly approaching the cage. "He seems so friendly."
"You like him, don't you?" Y/N smiled, following him towards the feline, noticing the immediate connection between Matt and the cat.
"Yeah, I really do." Matt nodded, his eyes shining with determination. "What do you think about having a cat?"
Y/N felt a wave of emotion and happiness wash over her when she heard him, taking a few seconds to process if she was creating things in her head, realizing she wasn't when she noticed Matt looking at her with expecting eyes.
"Oh my God, really?" Her voice came out louder than expected, slightly scaring the kitten. "Oops, I'm sorry, little kitten."
With beaming smiles and clasped hands, they went to the kennel staff to begin the adoption process. While Y/N filled out the forms, Matt kept his eyes fixed on the cat lovingly, imagining their days with the new addition.
"What will be his name, my love?" His girlfriend's voice sounded behind him, breaking him out of his reverie. Matt shook his head slightly, focusing his attention on Y/N again, an easy smile stretching across his face.
"Snuggles. His name will be Snuggles."

Izana has never done this before.
Not the shopping, not the pushing the trolley, and definitely not the preparations for a new home. And if you asked him perhaps two years ago, you'd never have seen him dead pushing a silver trolley packed to the brim with food and homeware, clicking his tongue in faux annoyance when you wander off to look at something else, his hand now cold with the breeze that comes from the absence of yours in it.
And maybe, just maybe, he'll stop to look at a small coffee press, a frying pan set, a chopping board that somehow he can envision hung up on the wall in the kitchen, and he'll take it down to look at it- as if it's fascinating, as if it's all so new. Truth be told, his nerves are fried from the anxiety, all these new things you're exploring together, all of the newness and novelty that seems so foreign and so welcoming at the same time. Maybe it's the stress of moving that has him jittery, the first time you'll be sleeping under the same roof for longer than a night- or maybe it's you, and his willingness to not be a disappointment, to live up to something he knows you would want of him, even if you never mention it.
Because truth be told again- you never do and he wishes sometimes you would. Mention when you're angry, upset, disappointed in him- more willing to chastise him. He would feel less guilty perhaps of being so in love with you.
'Hey,' you say now, handing him a set of small white towels and holding up a set of very extremely cliché "his" and "her" cream and grey bathrobes. 'What do you think? Cute right?'
He raises an eyebrow quizzically, steering to the side of the walkway to rearrange the contents of the trolley, the white towels now primly stacked on top of the sealed set of pink and blue mugs and plates, daisies painted onto the ceramic because 'they're cute Izana! Can we please get them?' and he never has the heart to say no to you like that, and any other time too, when you're always so diligent and good to him- in all the ways he asks and even those he doesn't either.
'"His and Hers" is kind of typical isn't it?' he says and scrunches his nose, in the way you like and he knows you like, even though he's already decided that maybe matching bathrobes is not such a bad idea anyways. He is yours and you are his after all. Cliche things suddenly seem a lot less of an issue with you.
You tut under your breath and move to lift them on top of the towels anyway. 'You are no fun sometimes,' you say with mirth and tuck the matching bathrobes underneath the towels and a pair of fluffy white slippers now sitting neatly on top.
You move to hold his arm then, your gloved hands now intertwined again, a soft smile gracing him that he tries to return, albeit awkwardly, setting for a squeeze of your hand while he pushes the trolley on. You rest a hand on your tummy then, over your coat, your cheeks puffed with the effort to keep up and he slows to a gentle walk, fishing the water bottle from your handbag slung over his other shoulder and handing it to you while he runs his thumb over the wedding ring on your finger.
You like that it's this easy, that it's so natural like this, that almost two years later, you have no qualms or reservations about your decision to marry. It has not been easy and he was always open about that fact- that he was dangerous in the entirety of him, that your relationship would be unconventional to say the least. But you find that loving him is as easy as breathing, easier in fact- and you wish he knew it more, wish you were more able to be honest about how much he's changed you, for better or for worse that is. You had not considered happiness to be on the cards previously. But maybe with him it's a possibility.
'Are you alright love?' he says, a hand now rubbing at your back, eyes furrowed in concern, a tilt of his neck to watch you dab at your lips with the corner of a tissue.
'i'm okay,' you say with a hand on his wrist, a dizzying wave that passes as quickly as it comes, and him coming back into focus again, murmuring praise against the shell of your ear, hair tucked behind and gently moved free of your neck.
'We can go home if you want to.'
'No, it's okay. I'm having fun 'Zana, I don't want to go home just yet.' And you manage a watery and placating smile that he returns easier this time, adjusting your coat with a squeeze of your hand that he lifts to his mouth to press a subtle kiss to.
You move on, products here and there, a murmur of assent or a shake of his head that you roll your eyes at- especially when you take it anyway and he sighs, a playful chuckle as he bends to rearrange the order of the trolley as he follows you ambling down the aisle.
'Oh I just remembered, the coffee table!' you exclaim, your hands coming together in surprise.
'Hm?'
'We need a new one. The last one was too small remember?'
He backs up, cranes his neck around the corner towards the home appliances section, the frown melting when he sees them on the far side of the department store. 'I think they're over there Love.'
And you walk together, slowly, an arm around his, your hand squeezing at his bicep with a girlish giggle, a flippant comment about how he looks 'so sexy and hot today' that he hates to admit still makes him flush this many years later.
Or maybe he doesn't hate it and just likes to pretend to. Because when he thinks about it really- the future in which the two of you are not together, the future in which you go through these motions with someone who isn't him, sharing a bed, sharing a home, a baby with a man who isn't him, and the sweat breaks out instinctively across his forehead with a anxious thump of his heart against his ribs. He likes that you're his, that for all his faults, he has this one saving grace, an angel maybe, all for himself.
'How's this one?' you say, gingerly touching the mahogany wood, a dusting of shiny gloss that you catch your reflection in- a scarf pulled up to your neck and a hand on your tummy, hand gliding along the gilded edges.
He comes up behind you, the swing of his hair kissing at your earlobe. 'Mhm it's nice, but not sturdy enough.'
You turn, a quizzical frown, a softened pout. 'Not sturdy enough? What do you mean?'
And he kisses your cheek, discretely, a brush of dry and soft lips against the apple of your cheek, a little cold, a little pallid to the touch. 'I think you know what that means don't you love?'
He watches the realisation settle across your eyes, your jaw slackened and a teasing smirk pulling at the corner of your upturned lips, the blossom of heat now licking at your neck as it always does when his voice drops with subtle innuendo. 'You're a very bad man Izana.'
'I've definitely heard worse.'
And you shake your head, a smile fighting across your lips, a squeeze of his hand as you move on and you love him like this. So carefree, so natural, so in his element here where the claws of the world can no longer touch him, where everything feels right and a little less scary.
Where he is yours as he always is.

Bradley hummed to himself as he whisked together a couple of eggs and a splash of milk in a ceramic bowl, adding pinches of salt and pepper as he went. He poured the contents into the hot frying pan, stirring them gently to scramble them. He wasn't much of a cook, he was the first person to admit it - he could barely boil water without burning the house down - but the one thing he was good at, was making breakfasts. He'd learned from his mom at a young age how to whip up scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes, which had become a morning ritual in the Bradshaw household every Sunday, when Bradley and Carole weren't racing back and forth between baseball games and football practices.
Bradley turned up the music on his phone, singing along casually to The Beach Boys as he turned his attention to the bacon that was cooking on the back burner, popping and sizzling with grease as it crisped up. Reaching for a pair of kitchen tongs, he picked the pieces up out of the skillet, laying each one delicately on a plate with paper towel to catch any excess grease that dripped off.
He wasn't planning on being home today - he had flight exercises scheduled and a run through of an upcoming flight path, but got rained out due to the weather. Maverick sent him and the others home for the day, due to a weather outlook showing severe thunderstorms the majority of the day. Bradley managed to make it the five minute drive home before you'd even stirred in the bed, and he took it upon himself to surprise you.
Of course, you heard the music playing from downstairs, but didn't want to spoil Bradley's plan for the morning. You laid in bed, keeping cozy under the duvet that Bradley had neatly tucked in around you when he left that morning. You heard his footsteps up the stairs, heavy and rhythmic as his feet made contact with the hardwood flooring. He made his way down the hall and into your room, where you were feigning surprise, a dramatized yawn escaping you as you stretched, the sound of Bradley singing God Only Knows filling the room as he set the breakfast tray down beside you in bed.
You smiled and wrapped your arms around him gently, giving him a tender, loving kiss as he brushed your hair back for you. A glass of orange juice, a plate of scrambled eggs, two slices of buttered toast and a few strips of bacon sat neatly on the tray, with a dish of strawberry jam and a dish with ketchup nestled beside them, just in case you wanted the added condiments on your breakfast. Bradley grabbed a slice of toast from a second plate that sat next to yours, borrowing the butter knife as he scraped some jam onto his bread.
"Good morning, beautiful. I thought I'd surprise you. Got rained out today, so it looks like you get me all to yourself for the day," He nodded as he took a bite out of his toast, his signature lopsided grin adorning his face.
"That sounds like the best kind of day to me."

Hey guys, welcome to the second part in this mini-series, featuring the beloved Medicine Seller of the classic anime horror series, Mononoke, and the character!reader who is Chise Hatori from the fantastic world of The Ancient Magus Bride.
I know it took a little longer to upload it and I do apologize for the wait! You may or many have not heard on my other blog, @an-idyllic-novelist, but I am trying a new writing method: writing the entire draft by hand, before proofreading and editing. I know the process does take a bit longer than just typing it straight away on my laptop, but so far it’s working for me and ensures that my mental health doesn’t take a big hit from doing all nighters 😅
Special shout-out to @enryegotrip and @deathmetalunicorn1 for reading the draft and helping me figure out some scenes that just weren’t working :) with that being said, sit back, relax, and let’s get started!

PART TWO: A FOX’S OBSERVATION

Kusuriuri woke up the following morning in his human form, much to his delight and befuddlement. His bridal candidate insisted that he take the spare guest room for the night instead of the couch, and he was quite glad he took it; being in this strange new world, alone with no idea how to contact his patron left him feeling…a little unsettled. The last thing he wanted to do was to burden the mage and her household, even if Inari-sama had sent him to be with her, and seeing that smirk on Ruth’s face. 
He was quite a cheeky fellow, and very protective of [First Name]. 
Shaking his head, Kusuriuri rose from the bed and pulled its feathery cream-colored sheets upwards, followed by the matching duvet and arranging the burgundy pillows. He glanced around the room; the walls were a light beige, with landscape paintings hanging above the headboard. On the right side, where he had been sleeping, was a cherrywood nightstand with a lamp sitting on top of it. At the front of the bed was a leather ottoman, and next to it was his medicine box. The mage offered to put it on top of the ottoman, but Kusuriuri insisted otherwise because he had a feeling something like this would happen: the medicine box would expand or shrink in accordance to its owners’ size, and he was a little worried about breaking furniture in his host’s home.
He then left the room, closing the door behind and turned left, walking down the hallway and through the living room, carefully maneuvering around the furniture and other knick-knacks. The smell of yeast rising and eggs frying in a pan led him to the dining area. The mage stood over the stovetop, moving the pan in her hand up and down for a moment before straightening out over the bright-red iron coil. From the smell alone, it was sweet and had flour. 
Ruth, who was already sitting down with a  turquoise ceramic cup held gingerly in his hands, glanced up at him groggily and nodded towards him. Kusuriuri returned the gesture and took a seat next to him.
“Sleep well?” The familiar asked. 
“Yes. You seem quite exhausted yourself. Is everything all right?” 
Ruth took a languid sip of whatever he’s drinking before he sighed in content and looked at him. “I’m fine, just [First Name] stayed up too late working on another project again. We’re bound together, so whatever she feels, I feel it too. I’m surprised she even got up this morning to cook with Silky.” Kusuriuri raised his brow as he repeated the name. Ruth shrugged, jabbing a thumb back towards the kitchen. “You’ll see her soon.” 
And just like that, the door in the kitchen leading outside creaked open. Stepping inside with a wicker basket in her gloved hands was a tall, ethereal woman dressed in a flowing, dark green dress. Her silvery-blonde hair was pulled back in a bun, loose strands hanging by her ears and pink flowers pinned on either side. Her red eyes darted towards the dining room, pausing to stare at him for a moment before she glided to the mage’s side, handing her a few herbs from the basket. [First Name] smiled, thanking her. She quickly chopped them on an adjacent cutting board before scrapping them inside the pan with a knife. 
The woman, Silky, nodded before she quickly darted to the other side, pulling out a pan from the oven and setting it down to rest on the countertop. Kusuriuri blinked, glancing at Ruth. “A neighbor?” He asked.
“Yup. A brownie faerie, simplest explanation is that she can be found around the house and enjoys doing domestic work. The only thing I’d advise you to do to not is touch the dish of cream on the mantelpiece. That’s her payment. Faeries require payment for whatever tasks they accomplish, whether it’s magic to be used to help others, or of her own volition. Am I clear?” Ruth’s voice hardened slightly. 
Kusuriuri nodded. “I understand.”
“Good.” 
A few moments later, [First Name] and Silky brought out plates stacked with sliced grilled tomatoes, sausage, mushrooms, beans, toast, and fried eggs. The mage smiled at him. 
“Mornin’. I’m so sorry I didn’t greet you earlier, I ended up getting carried away with cooking and I had too many things going on at once.” She said, placing one of the plates in front of him. Kusuriuri shook his head. “It’s all right. I was having an…enlightening conversation with Ruth here about Silky.” [First Name] blinked.
“Ah. He told you about her?” She asked, seemingly not minding as Silky gently pushed her towards the head of the table by the shoulders. Kusuriuri watched with interest as the brownie flicked her gloved wrist and the chair pulled back on its own, guiding the mage to sit and place a plate in front of her. 
Kusuriuri nodded. “She did. You’re quite fortunate to have her…with your busy schedule.” He said carefully. Silky did not react. She just blinked at him, and then she went into the kitchen. He heard pots and pans clattering, followed by the sound of running water. 
“I’m…not exactly as busy as you make me out to be. But don’t feel pressured to eat everything, though, please. Eat as much as you’d like. We also have coffee and tea.” [First Name] frowned before clicking her tongue. “I knew I forgot something. I’m sorry, one moment I’ll get it ready -” That was when Silky poked her head through the doorway, frowning and motioned the mage to stay put.  I will get the tea for our guest, so please sit and eat. That was the non-verbal message the brownie faerie was giving, and [First Name] didn’t hesitate to start digging in. 
Now knowing he didn’t have to force himself to get sick out of politeness, Kusuriuri proceeded to start eating his own plate. He’d gotten lucky to know how to use a knife and fork when a kind-hearted waitress at a local cafe took time to teach him…though he knew the only reason she had bothered was because he is good-looking. 
Once they all had their fill, Ruth helped [First Name] clear off the plates. Kusuriuri offered to do the dishes. They were both surprised at his offer, though Silky was not going to let him get away with it that easily. He was only allowed to help with drying them before he was shooed off, all of them. 
Since [First Name] had gotten most of her work done last night, she had some free-time until later this afternoon. Today, she needed to go to the big city and visit a few people, restock on some supplies, maybe a bite to eat at a restaurant. Ruth would travel in his animal form, conceal himself inside the mage’s shadow. Kusuriuri had no idea if he could do the same, but he was not too keen on taking that risk if it meant he’ll forever be trapped as a fox. 
Instead of taking the bus or a train, the three of them used a telephone booth sitting on the edge of the village. The owner was a tiny teal lizard with a lazy grin and wearing a hat. [First Name] greeted him politely, and asked for two tickets, to and from the city. The tickets were printed from the bottom of the phone, and he held them up to her with his tongue. She bowed his head to him and replied in a language  Kusuriuri didn’t recognize. The booth suddenly jolted, moving from left to right and left again as the scenery outside swirled in a miasma of different colors. 
Then all of a sudden, the phone booth stopped moving, and they were no longer in a rural area but the heart of a metropolis. Kusuriuri would have been more awestruck at the usage of such magic if he didn’t feel like the world was spinning around him. [First Name] guided him to a bench and sat by his side until he was ready to stand. He apologized for seemingly wasting her time, but she waved her hand. 
“Don’t worry about it. From everyone’s perspective, I am just sitting down for a while. If there was anyone who could see you, then their mouths would be hanging open. Angela might look at you, but that’s the extent of her surprise at seeing a unique neighbor like yourself, probably. She’s been around for a long time.”
“Angela?”
“She’s a technician of sorts. She specializes in crystals and other magical tools. We’ll be going to her first before the other places.” [First Name] said. “Wanna get something sweet? There’s a bakery close by, might help with your nausea.”
Kusuriuri nodded. He didn’t get to have sweets often, mostly because they were either already stale from being out in the sun all day, or they were too expensive for what little money he had at the time. But the ones [First Name] purchased for him were simply incredible. He was a little hesitant in trying a blueberry scone and some other unfamiliar ones…but the risk was worth it in the end. 
He followed her through the streets packed with pedestrians and vendors, expertly weaving past the tourists as they boarded a white bus.  Angela’s shop was a brick building tucked between larger ones, with a vintage sign over the door that welcomed customers, and mentioned there were crystals and incense sold here. The scent of sage wafted through the air, the shelves lined with the aforementioned wares, books, and miniature statues of Buddha and other gods. Angela was nearing forty, at least in appearance, and dressed more like a tea shop owner than someone who specialized in magic: an apron draped over black pants and a white tank top, auburn hair pulled back in a braid, green eyes smiling lazily as she greeted them with a wave of her hand. Hovering next to her was a tiny water spirit, another familiar. 
Angela was pleasant, getting straight to business once she gave him a glance and shrugged. She wanted to ask questions, but she respected [First Name]’s time. They exchanged some words, walking over to the glass counter where a wide variety of crystals were laid out on a red silk cloth. [First Name] examined each of them carefully as Angela explained their uses and how they could help the mage with her research and help regulate the amount of magic in her body without putting too much strain on it. 
Kusuriuri watched [First Name] look over each of them carefully before she selected three of them. Angelas included a few sticks of incense and asked her to come back again soon with her new friend. 
From there, they went to two more places, the office of a university professor being the last stop of the day. Kusuriuri had heard of the Imperial University in Tokyo, and that only certain individuals could study there, but not a place where both men and women learn about magic. [First Name] had been a student here years ago, excelling in Herbology and Magical Creatures. One  research paper had helped the latter department expand on their knowledge on understanding the neighbors. The professor wanted her to sub for his afternoon Magical Creatures classes while he went on maternity leave with his wife. 
[First Name] politely refused. 
She did not have a teaching license nor was qualified to handle rambunctious students, even if they were in their final year at the university. She might get along with the neighbors, but they do not listen to anyone as if they were pets. They were faeries; to earn their respect, the students must respect them in turn and not piss them off. Or did he need a reminder of what happened when she was in his class? 
Her response was enough to silence the man. [First Name] stood from the chair and looked the professor straight in the eye as she apologized to him. It is a shame that she cannot do it, however, she does know someone who would be interested in this opportunity: Clarice Wordsworth. She and [First Name] attended the same year, but Clarice decided to further her education at another institute. Last she had heard, Clarice needed another internship to finish her degree. The professor nodded, muttering softly under his breath that a Sleigh Beggy teaching his classes would actually bring more students to attend. 
Whether she pretended to not hear him or simply didn’t, [First Name] bid him good-bye and practically sprinted out of the door. Kusuriuri was torn between amusement and curiosity as he trailed behind the mage, down the hall and through the university’s doors. 
The skies bled into an reddish-orange hue as they approached the telephone booth with the supplies, signaling that their day in the city was over. Ruth was happy because they could finally go home and enjoy Silky’s cooking. [First Name] hummed in agreement as they were teleported back into the village, and walked the rest of the way back to the house. 
As more days blended into weeks, Kusuriuri discovered that his bridal candidate was quite a contradiction. 
She was kind, loving, and sociable with people she knew very well, though cold and businesslike around people she regarded as an acquaintance like the professor. She worried about Silky doing too much around the house or Ruth being spotted near the forest, yet they in turn were concerned that she stayed up too late working in the study, pouring over her notes and creating tonics for the villagers who were sick. 
 Humans were like that though, yet she was still able to keep his interest for this long. Recently, at Silky’s insistence, [First Name] began taking small walks around the village after dinner. He and Ruth joined her to make sure she didn’t try to sneak back into the house through the kitchen. Thirty minutes of tranquil silence or small talk, and then they would return home. 
No, not home. His temporary quarters. Kusuriuri silently scolded himself. There were still things he did not know about her, and he had not issued his test to her. It was still too soon. 
What he did not realize, however, was that he would come to fall so deeply in love with the mage and the cozy life she led here, he nearly regretted taking her away from here to the temple lined with fox statues…though if he hadn’t…. he would not even have a bride.

TYPES OF PANS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE BUYING A PAN
How many types of pans are there? What characteristics does each have? What are the best? Is it worth paying more for a quality frying pan? In this article, we tell you what you should know about the manufacture of the different types of frying pans, their characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages. 
Pans are a staple of kitchenware. They are essential for many essential preparations, such as frying, toasting, and browning food. When choosing pans for our kitchen, we have to choose not only the size but also the material from which they are made.
Choosing a pan can be a daunting experience. At the very least, a challenge. Pans are available in a wide variety of materials, coatings, and handle types. And prices. So how do you know which pan is best for you? Is the most expensive pan always the best?
To begin with, the first thing to take into account when buying a frying pan is the material with which it is made, its coating and its characteristics. This way you can choose the pans taking into account what will be the use that is going to be given.

TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT WHEN CHOOSING A FRYING PAN
Previously frying pans were made of cast iron. You can still buy these types of pans today. However, the current trend is to use other materials, such as stainless steel, aluminum, or ceramic. Also, keep in mind that many pans have a non-stick coating, which can be of different types.
The non-stick coating is an important feature of frying pans. Some of these coatings allow you to cook without adding fat -or very little- and without the food sticking. In any case, the quality of the pan is influenced by the quality of the nonstick, improving not only its efficiency but also its durability.
There are two main types of nonstick pans:
those with a synthetic coating
those made of a material that does not adhere naturally (such as pre-seasoned cast iron or ceramic).
As for the synthetic coating, it is important to look for pans that are free of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). This substance is considered toxic. Its use is regulated in many countries, including the countries of the European Union.
For certain uses and/or styles of cooking, non-stick pans are also used. Aluminum and stainless steel are essential materials in the manufacture of this type of non-stick pan, highly valued by professionals and cooking enthusiasts.
Another issue that must be taken into account when buying pans is what type of stove they are going to use, such as gas, glass ceramic, or induction, and even if you want them to be used in the oven.
MAIN TYPES OF PANS
We have already commented that there is a wide variety of pans on the market. If you choose to buy your pans in an online pan store you will find a lot of information that will help you choose the most appropriate pan.
CAST IRON SKILLETS
Cast iron is a material that has many advantages and few drawbacks. Although cast iron skillets take time to heat up, they have excellent thermal properties. So once it reaches the temperature set point, it will retain constant heat for a long time. If cared for properly, non-stick cast iron skillets will develop their non-stick surface.

Many cast iron skillets you can buy today come already seasoned or pre-seasoned. If not, before using them you have to season or cure them. To season cast iron, the surface is repeatedly rubbed with oil, heated, and cooled. This process breaks down the oil into a plastic-like substance that clings to metal, thus creating a smooth surface that is perfect for cooking. A well-seasoned cast iron skillet will be nearly nonstick.
Keep in mind that cast iron is a reactive metal, so it can cause off-flavors in food. Also, cast iron skillets can discolor if certain foods are mixed, especially if they are acidic. However, if the cast iron skillet is well seasoned there shouldn't be these kinds of problems if it's cooked on low heat.
ENAMELED CAST IRON SKILLETS
Enameled cast iron offers many of the benefits of classic cast iron, but without the hassle of seasoning pans. However, enameled cast iron skillets do not have a nonstick coating, and unlike regular cast iron, they cannot develop nonstick characteristics with seasoning.
However, since the enamel coating is made with ceramic enamel -a non-reactive material-, in enameled cast iron pans any type of food can be cooked without worry.
Aesthetically, enameled cast iron pans are much more beautiful and striking, since they are available in a wide range of colors. However, they are heavy and, like traditional cast iron skillets, they take a while to heat up, although they do retain heat extremely well.
ALUMINUM PANS
Aluminum pans are lightweight pans, which will make them very manageable. Aluminum frying pans heat up quickly and the heat is distributed evenly over the entire surface. This means that the food is cooked in a short time and, consequently, little energy is spent.
Another advantage of aluminum pans is that they do not react with acidic foods, so the flavor of the food cooked in these pans is not altered. In addition, aluminum pans are cheap and accessible and, if they are of good quality, they can last a lifetime.

The only downside to aluminum pans is that they tend to turn a dark shade over time. But in no case does this discoloration affect its usability in any way.
STAINLESS STEEL PANS
Stainless steel is non-reactive, durable, dishwasher safe, and resistant to rust, corrosion, scratches, and dents. However, on its own, stainless steel is a terrible conductor of heat. The key to finding a good stainless steel skillet is to choose a model that has a core of another type of metal that will conduct heat more effectively, such as aluminum or copper.

Aluminum core pans are more affordable than copper core pans. However, copper is a slightly better conductor of heat compared to aluminum, which explains the price difference. Copper core pans react more quickly to changes in temperature, giving the cook more control over the cooking process.
NONSTICK PANS
Nonstick pans allow you to cook with less fat and are also much easier to clean compared to other uncoated metal pans.
Nonstick frying pans can be made from the same types of metal as other frying pans, such as stainless steel or aluminum, and copper. The only difference is that the cooking surface is covered with a non-stick compound.
The most common metal for nonstick pans is anodized aluminum because it's lightweight, affordable, and resistant to rust. Plus, it's a good conductor of heat, which means it reacts quickly to changes in cooking temperature.
The most commonly found non-stick coating is Teflon, made from food-grade PTFE, also known as polytetrafluoroethylene. However, in recent years other more ecological options have appeared and have gained popularity. These coatings do not break down at high temperatures and may be safer.
Nonstick pans require less cooking fat, are easy to clean, and last a long time if abrasive elements or metal utensils are used on them. In general, they tend to be good conductors of heat, so they take a short time to heat up. In addition, they are not reactive or porous.
However,  the coating on nonstick pans can start to peel off over time. When this happens, it is necessary to replace the pan. This is especially important when the non-stick coating is of a chemical type, as it can be toxic.
