Russia's large stealth attack drone, Okhotnik, is expected to go into mass production in 2024
The S-70 is designated as the 'loyal wing' of the fifth-generation Su-57 Felon fighter
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 01/31/2024 - 16:00in Military, UAV - UAV
According to information shared on Russian social networks on January 29, 2024, Russia is expected to start serial production of the S-70 'Okhotnik' (Hunter) strategic bomber later this year in the Novosibirsk region.
Lieutenant Governor Sergei Semka announced that the Novosibirsk Aviation Factory, a subsidiary of Rostec's Sukhoi Company, is preparing to start serial production of the Okhotnik heavy unmanned aerial vehicle in the second half of 2024.
Tumblr media
Sukhoi Company has been diligently developing Russia's inaugural heavy attack drone, the S-70 Okhotnik, since 2011. The project reached a milestone with the first experimental prototype flying on August 3, 2019, followed by a subsequent model with a flat jet nozzle, designed to reduce the radar signature, emerging from the Novosibirsk aircraft factory in December 2021.
Series production will focus on the heavy reconnaissance and attack UAV, designated as the S-70 "Okhotnik-B". Several prototypes are currently in the final stages of comprehensive testing, with particular emphasis on optimizing the weapons control system software. Production models are expected to have a narrow section nozzle, aiming to achieve a reduction of 2 to 2.5 times in the infrared signature and a marginal decrease in the effective reflective surface at the back of the UAV.
Tumblr media
All S-70 vehicles are programmed to be equipped with terminals for the exchange of tactical information and telecode information through secure radio communication channels of the KDL-I type (0.96 - 1.25 GHz). This technology is designed to allow the operation of UAVs under the control of Su-30SM2 and Su-57 crews. The range of the communication channel is projected between 350 and 450 km, allowing these multifunctional fighter crews to deploy the S-70 as "unmanned wings" without the need for manned vehicles to enter the enemy's anti-access/anti-aircraft (A2/D2) zones and the fighter maneuver zones.
The S-70 Okhotnik, with a 14-meter fuselage and a 19-meter wingspan, is comparable to the MiG-29, has a take-off weight of up to 25 tons, including combat load of up to 3 tons.
Tumblr media
Although the composition of the 3-ton combat cargo remains uncertain, the initial studies of the project suggested a wide range of guided aerial weapons, from anti-aircraft missiles to tactical aviation cruise missiles. The aircraft allegedly has internal weapon compartments similar to those of the Su-57 fighter, allowing the use of weapons beyond the visual range, including R-77M air-to-air missiles and Kh-59MK2 air-surface missiles capable of avoiding radar detection. However, at the end of 2020, Russia announced plans to use Okhotnik to launch unguided aerial bombs.

💥 … remember something related to the ‘military industrial complex? I do!! — all paid by the US taxpayer, right?
By: LaillaB, founder of ‘Reclaim the Narrative’, from LinkedIn …
“The indiscriminate attacks on Gaza ‘may amount to a genocide’, according to the preliminary ruling by the International Court of Justice, a U.S. federal court, as well as dozens of U.N. experts and legal scholars.
**Shortly after Oct. 7, the U.S. government started transferring massive amounts of weapons to Israel.
By Dec. 25, Israel received more than 10,000 tons of weapons in 244 cargo planes and 20 ships from the U.S.
These transfers included more than 15,000 bombs and 50,000 artillery shells within just the first month and a half.
Between October and the beginning of March, the U.S. approved more than 100 military sales to Israel, but publicly disclosed only two sales. A list of known U.S. arms transfers is maintained by the Forum on the Arms Trade.
**The scale of destruction and war crimes in Gaza would not be possible without this continued flow of weapons from the U.S. Despite massive public protests, the Biden administration has been working to give Israel over $14 billion to buy more weapons.**
This is on top of the $3.8 billion the U.S. already gives to the Israeli military annually. Israel is required to use this money to buy U.S.-made weapons.
As a Quaker organization with a long history of work in Palestine and Israel, including in Gaza, AFSC supports a full arms embargo against the pariah state.
The research conducted by Who Profits and the Database of Israeli Military and Security Export, a project affiliated with the Israeli organisation New Profile, has been confirmed that much of these weapons were purchased using ‘U.S. taxpayers’ money through the Foreign Military Sales program, while some were direct commercial corporate sales and purchases …
The world's largest weapons manufacturer, American ‘Lockheed Martin’, supplies Israel with F-16 and F-35 fighter jets, which Israel has been using extensively to bomb Gaza.
Lockheed Martin manufactures AGM-114 Hellfire missiles for Israel's Apache helicopters. One of the main weapon types used in aerial attacks on Gaza, these missiles have been used extensively in 2023. Some 2,000 Hellfire missiles were delivered to Israel sometime between Oct. 7 and Nov. 14.
**On Dec. 28, Lockheed Martin was awarded a $10.5 million contract for continued support for Israel's fleet of F-35 warplanes.
On an Oct. 17 call with investors, Lockheed Martin CEO, Jim Taiclet, “highlighted the Israel and Ukraine conflicts as potential drivers for increased revenue in the coming years."
Cover image: A Judge found 3 actionists guilty of 'trespass' after they stormed Lockheed Martin's weapons factory in Bedford ... #PalAction …
The irony lies in the fact that individuals or entities found guilty of actions against genocide are held accountable, while those who aid and abet such crimes against humanity are often able to operate freely in pursuit of capitalist motives.

The United States has stolen a Boeing 747 cargo plane that Iran sold to Venezuelan state airline Emtrasur in 2022 because, according to the Biden regime, the sale of the aircraft violated sanctions.
On Monday, the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) announced that Washington has taken custody of the aircraft, which was grounded 18 months ago by Argentina. Iran's Mahan Air conducted the sale in violation of U.S. sanctions on the airline due to its affiliation with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
"Mahan Air, known to ferry weapons and fighters for the IRGC and Hezbollah, violated our export restrictions by selling this airplane to a Venezuelan cargo airline," said Assistant Secretary of Export Enforcement Matthew S. Axelrod in a statement.
"Now it's property of the U.S. government."
In 2019, the U.S. sanctioned Iran with the toughest restrictions yet due to Washington's designation of the IRGC, a critical military and economic component of Iran, as a "foreign terrorist organization."
(Related: The corporate media really wants the world to believe that Tehran helped Hamas plot the October 7 attack on Israel because this will justify waging war on Iran.)
U.S. plane seizure "illegal," says Iran

The early years of the game were full of comfy aircraft like the Vestra that added atmosphere and flavor to the game. Look at that charming little nose and split tail. It was tiny enough to do the Zancudo tunnel run, too.
Tumblr media
After cutting your teeth on the Rogue, the Pyro was what you moved up to when you wanted to make a passenger soil themselves. The copilot couldn't do much other than watch as you turned this supermaneuverable dogfighter into an airborne carnival ride that could beat even a Lazer in a turn fight.
Tumblr media
This Hydra was an aircraft with a very special place in my heart, because I discovered the glitch to remove the missiles entirely on my own, with no forums or tutorials involved. I felt like a million bucks when I logged back in to see those clean wings. It struck me as very fitting, considering I didn't use the Hydra in its usual close air support role and merely used it for cargo runs and the occasional escort.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, the Havok here also had a special place in my heart because I completely and utterly hated it. The only reason it was still in my collection was that I never needed the money from selling it. Seriously, you looked at this thing funny and it would tip over and drag you into a cartoonish death slide before making you question your entire life up to this point. And then they introduced a sale mission with eight, yes, eight of these things! No wonder nobody ran hangar cargo.
Tumblr media
Tiny plane is tiny. The Alpha Z-1 was the plane of choice for buzzing downtown and challenging yourself to fit into ever tighter holes. Seriously, this thing was fast and could turn on a dime, and it even had countermeasures to keep trouble off your tail. The only bad part was that this little bird would turn into an albatross if you were even the slightest bit off the mark when trying to land.
Tumblr media
A Cargobob was another one of those things that every player was all but required to own, whether it was the standard camo flavor or the alternate Cargobob Jetsam like this one. It was indispensable for getting vehicles unstuck and having fun bringing them to places they had no business being at. Even the developers got in on it with the missions that had you airlifting a tank back to your bunker.
Tumblr media
The B-11 Strikeforce was an odd duck. Despite the popularity of its real-life analogue, it took years to show up in the game, and when it finally did, it was in the form of an unusually maneuverable high-altitude dogfighter that couldn't do the one thing its inspiration was famous for. Seriously, the explosive cannon on the B-11 took multiple hits and multiple passes to take out even a person standing completely still as it tossed them around like a beach ball. One of the aces in our crew practically made a game out of seeing how long they could juggle a ground target with a single strafe. All the developers had to do was copy and paste the cannons from the Hydra and Lazer, yet they chose to give their version of one of the most famous aircraft in American history a brand-new bespoke weapon that hit with all the force of a runaway shopping cart.
Tumblr media
The Besra was another one of those planes from the launch era that was flavorful and fun. A nimble stunt plane was always a good time in itself, but what really made the unarmed Besra fun was that it shared the same radar icon as the two very common and very dangerous combat jets. My crew and I strongly condemned attacking any players transporting cargo, but I can't say it wasn't amusing to buzz past them and raise their heart rate a little before they found out it was a harmless Besra.
Tumblr media
The duality of man was exemplified in the Akula stealth helicopter. With potent weapons, good speed and agility, a little bit of armor, four seats, and the ability to go on and off the radar at any time, the Akula was effective in just about every role, which made it popular for sneak attacks in combat zones as well as cargo runs when you just wanted the irate masses to let you grind in peace. Like the Besra, it was also a giggle to take the Akula up to the height limit and turn off its stealth above a crowd of players before watching their radar blips scurry about and circle the wagons. Ain't I a stinker?
Tumblr media
Savage! Just pretend I said that in the voice of the theme of the Amiga game by the same name. The Savage was a fun helicopter from the heists era that managed to be useful in PvP and PvE for quite a while with its explosive cannon and enough armor to disengage. It also served as very painful insight into the developers' priorities. One of the Savage's quirks was that it had a slightly off-center radar lock point, which meant that in rare circumstances a skilled pilot could dodge homing missiles by pitching the helicopter forward. This bug persisted untouched for three entire years until players noticed that it could be used to counter (read: not get instantly steamrolled by) the Oppressor Mk II. Only then did the devs "patch" the Savage, because nothing was allowed to oppose the almighty shitter bike. This sort of backwards balancing is what began to drive my crew and my friends away from the game.

As a farmers market shopper, you are most likely familiar with the ‘Slow Food Movement’ that emphasizes the mindful consumption of unprocessed, seasonal foods that are locally grown and prepared using culturally traditional cooking techniques. It goes without saying that our farmers markets act as hubs for connecting people with all the ingredients they need to foster a healthy, slow food lifestyle and its thoughtful approach to eating. But did you know that this concept – and the larger ‘slow living’ umbrella that it is part of – has extended into many arenas of everyday life, including the purchasing of decorative, cut flowers? In fact, the very same principles that apply to the consumption of ‘slow foods’ also apply to the intentional choices we make when selecting fresh flowers to buy for ourselves and others.
Adorning one’s living space with colorful, sweetly scented flowers or gifting someone with a beautiful fresh bouquet is one of life’s simple pleasures that is accessible to most everyone. But behind those innocent-looking blooms sometimes lies a little-known dark side. Just as with modern-day industrial overproduction of food, the large-scale production, shipping and packaging of commercially grown cut flowers exacts a huge environmental toll that most consumers are generally not aware of. To address these issues, the slow flower movement encourages the sustainable, responsible and mindful consumption of decorative flowers. Along those lines, here are some things to keep in mind the next time you are looking to replace the desiccated, wilted stems in your hallway flower vase (hint: head directly to your local farmers market this summer).
Seasonal flowers When you purchase fresh flowers in the dead of winter here in the northeast, such as buying a dozen red roses for your Valentine in mid-February, it’s a safe assumption that those blooms were not grown anywhere nearby. In fact, the majority of cut flowers sold in the U.S. are grown in far-flung warmer climates that allow for year-round production, such as California and South America. Happily, the arrival of summer to this region brings with it an influx of fresh produce into our farmstalls along with displays of fresh flowers, from sweet posies of wildflowers to sturdy bunches of sunflowers. Unlike industrially grown flowers, farmers market flowers are only available when the growing conditions allow for their production in harmony with nature’s rhythms. Whereas commercial growers routinely spray their crops with copious amounts of chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides and fungicides to ensure a constant yield, the seasonally appropriate production of local flowers requires fewer inputs and synthetic applications.
Refrigeration and transportation After industrially grown flowers are harvested from fields and greenhouses, they are stored in chilled warehouses to preserve their freshness before being transported via refrigerated trucks to the airport where they are then flown to their various destinations via cargo planes. Upon arrival, they are transferred back into refrigerated trucks and driven to retailers and other commercial distribution centers. The long-haul transportation and extended refrigeration of these flowers before they reach their point-of-sale requires an enormous expenditure of energy that balloons the size of their carbon footprint. Alternatively, the farmers market flowers that you see have been grown locally and have made only a short trip from the field to the marketplace. They’ll be fresher by the time you get them home and your purchase helps support a small farm or flower vendor versus a large faceless corporation.
Native flowers The range of exotic blooms you’ll find at a commercial florist or supermarket are typically not indigenous to the northeast, having been grown in different countries and warmer states. Amongst the cheerful posies of fresh flowers populating the farmstalls, you’ll find a preponderance of native plant varieties that have been growing in this area for thousands of years. These native flowers are uniquely adapted to thrive in the specific growing conditions of this region and have co-evolved alongside our local pollinators and wildlife forming a beneficial symbiosis and helping to promote biodiversity. For instance, Rudbeckia (aka black-eyed-susan or coneflower) is an herbaceous perennial native to North America that is prized for its showy golden yellow flowers that are being sold in our farmers markets right now. The nectar and pollen its flowers produce feeds native bees, butterflies, and other pollinators and it is also a larval host plant for Silvery Checkerspot (Chlosyne nycteis) caterpillars. Sticking within the yellow flower theme, all 52 varieties of sunflowers (Helianthus) are indigenous to North America while their seeds have formed a staple part of the American Indian diet for thousands of years.
Packaging Unlike the bouquets sold by commercial florists and retailers that are often heavily packaged in plastic cellophane, when you purchase a bouquet in the farmers market, it may come wrapped in kraft paper or simply bundled up, ready to be tucked into your shopping tote. Whereas plastic film is hard to recycle and adding to our planet’s ongoing plastic pollution problem, paper is biodegradable and can be tossed in the compost along with your cut flowers once they have reached the end of their useful life.
And there you have it! We wish you a very happy summer season of ‘slow food’ AND ‘slow flower’ shopping in our Down to Earth farmers markets.

Tupolev ANT-20 Maxim Gorky – Once the Largest Aircraft in the World
Tumblr media
In the early 1930's, Tupolev ANT-20 Maxim Gorky – Once the Largest Aircraft in the World
Tupelo Aircraft Company was building and selling aircraft ranging in price from $5000 to over $100,000. The company was known for its quality aircraft and it was also expanding very quickly. Tupelo had a reputation of developing aircraft faster than anyone else could, which led to more orders coming in. The company was able to capitalize on its reputation and grew rapidly. A year after World War One ended, Tupelo went from one employee to over 1,200 workers. After the stock market crashed in 1929, Tupelo's sales skyrocketed. It became one of the most successful companies in the world. In 1932, Tupelo was bought out by Fairchild Aviation Corporation. Fairchild continued to build planes for the United States Air Force as well as private citizens.
During World War Two, Tupelo built planes for both civilian and military use. One of their most famous planes is the B-24 Liberator bomber. The B-24 Liberator bomber was used during World War Two as a strategic bomber that carried a heavy payload ranging from bombs to fuel tanks. It had high maneuverability and could fly at high altitudes without having to worry about losing oxygen like other bombers did. This made the B-24 Liberator bomber a very valuable asset during World War Two because it could carry a lot of cargo in a short amount of time without having to worry about. Philippine Air Force Receives C-130H Hercules Transport Aircraft From US
The Philippine Air Force has received a new C-130H cargo plane from the United States. The transport aircraft, which made its journey from Waco, Texas, to the Clark Air Base in Mabalacat, Pampanga, was piloted by a US aircrew and greeted upon arrival with a ceremonial water cannon salute. This delivery marks the second cargo plane provided by the US government to the Philippines under the Excess Defense Articles (EDA) framework. Through this program, surplus assets from the US military are transferred to bolster the capabilities of partner nations, either through foreign military sales or donations. Such acquisitions allow for the modernization of allied forces at reduced costs, with the condition of the equipment factoring into pricing.

Israel is close to acquiring more F-35I, F-15IA fighters and Apache helicopters
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 01/27/2024 - 18:05 in Military
According to reports from the Israeli press, the Israeli military announced the intention to soon conclude a major multibilion-dollar arms agreement with the United States, which includes the sale of 25 additional F-35I "Adir" fighters and 25 more F-15IA fighters, along with at least 12 additional AH-64D Apache attack helicopters and a continuous supply of ammunition.
This agreement has been ongoing since last year, with initial deliveries scheduled for 2027. However, the Israeli government hopes that, in the middle of the war in Gaza and the fight against Iranian-backed groups, some deliveries can be accelerated and begin in the coming months. The subscription is scheduled for the next few weeks.
Tumblr media
Last week, on the 25th, the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Eyal Zamir, ended a working visit to Washington, during which he met with senior officials from the Pentagon and the State Department, as well as executives of leading U.S. defense companies to discuss the advance agreements for additional F-35, F-15 and Apaches for Israel
Defense sources would have told the Times of Israel that Israel's plans to acquire a new squadron of 25 F-35I stealth combat aircraft, a squadron of 25 F-15IA combat aircraft and a squad of 12 Apache combat helicopters, would have advanced during discussions with the United States. Last year, Israel made formal requests to the United States regarding the purchase of F-35 fighters and F-15 jets.
The number of new aircraft ordered is quite significant. Tel Aviv is trying to expand and upgrade its current F-15IA fleet, which can carry the kind of heavy weapons that Israel would need to attack Iranian nuclear facilities, most of which are buried underground. While the 50% increase in F-35Is will increase Lightning's stealth capabilities to attack strategic targets in the Middle East at any time and with absolute discretion.
Tumblr media
This was also the case in November 2023, when Damascus airport in Syria was bombed by Israeli F-35s, which are also used for air-to-air missions, as demonstrated by the slaughter, again in November 2023, of a cruise ship with missiles launched into Israeli airspace by Houthi rebels.
The acquisition of Apache helicopters would instead follow the lessons learned from the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, during which about 3,000 Hamas-led terrorists attacked southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking 253 hostages, mostly civilians, and the fighting in the Gaza Strip. Today Israel operates 26 AH-64A Apaches and 17 more modern AH-64D Apaches. Although the AH-64As have undergone some improvements and modernizations, the purchase order for 12 additional helicopters perhaps represents Israel's desire to replace some of its older Apaches.

There is still no immediate schedule for the delivery of fighters and helicopters, but Israel is expected to press for faster delivery. In addition, as part of the discussions with the United States, the Ministry of Defense delegation would also work to promote the continued supply of American ammunition to deal with the war in Gaza. Since the beginning of the war, at least 250 cargo planes and more than 20 ships have delivered more than 10,000 tons of weapons and military equipment to Israel.
For the agreements to be carried out and signed by Israel, government approval is required, a measure that defense sources say could happen in the coming weeks. Remember that Israel had already agreed to buy 50 F-35 fighters from Lockheed Martin, whose deliveries will continue until 2024.

The Difference Between Freight and Cargo
The Difference Between Freight and Cargo
Freight and cargo are terms commonly used when goods need to be transported from one place to another, particularly for businesses rather than personal items. Although people often mix up these words, there are some subtle differences between them.
Freight, typically associated with trains, trucks, planes, or ships, refers to both the items being transported and the financial aspect of transportation. It encompasses various modes of moving things, such as trucks, trains, planes, or ships. It's essential to note that regular mail isn't classified as freight; it specifically pertains to items bought or sold. "Freight" can denote the items themselves, the merchandise for sale, the money required for transportation, or the overall cost of moving them.
In contrast, "cargo" is primarily used for items transported by ships or planes. Unlike "freight," "cargo" solely focuses on the goods being moved, excluding any financial considerations. Cargo encompasses a wide range of products in transit, utilizing different methods such as large cargo containers, pallets, cargo handling nets, or other means. Interestingly, the term "cargo" is sometimes applied to mail, emphasizing the content inside the mail rather than the associated costs.
The key distinction lies in the fact that "freight" includes both the transported items and the associated financial aspects, while "cargo" solely refers to the goods being moved. In simpler terms, if the discussion revolves around the cost of moving items, it pertains to freight. If the focus is solely on the items being moved, that falls under the category of cargo.
Both freight and cargo play vital roles in the import and export of goods, contributing significantly to the movement of items between locations. While cargo historically pertained more to ships and planes, and freight to trucks and trains, modern usage has blurred these distinctions. This article aims to clarify these terms and underscore their significance, particularly in the context of Air Cargo Services in India and Multimodal Transportation solutions.

Video of the day: Unstable Aircraft Design?! The Incredible Story of China Eastern flight 583 (or, a cautionary tale on why you should fasten your seatbelt whenever you're sitting down on a plane)
Chances are that anything you're flying in today is more pitch stable than the MD-11, but it's definitely better safe than sorry.
Video thumbnail description: An MD-11 passenger airliner with China Eastern Airlines livery, obviously photoshopped with a 'wiggly' distortion effect. Text reads ROLLERCOASTER AT 33,000 FEET!
Sponsored segment timecodes: 6:35 - 8:00 (it's BetterHelp so skip it)
Under the read more:
Video 'spoilers'
Content warnings
Accessibility notes
Comment highlights
Content warnings: The plane doesn't crash, but many passengers are injured and several killed during a rollercoaster-style cycle of flying to recover from an issue. The video is simulated and doesn't show passengers or injuries.
Accessibility: Video is well-narrated with accurate captions. Some animated diagrams are used to illustrate plane design and engineering, but are described in narration. A few definitions of terminology are shown visually, but are also summarised verbally.
Highlights from the comments:
Tumblr media
From user @.djmech3871: I remember this very well. I was a World Airways 31:51 mechanic on the MD-11 and after this incident we had to install a mechanical lock on the flap/slat handle. RIP to the two people who died.
Tumblr media
From user @.randallhunt9170: It was this and other peculiarities that eventually relegated the MD-11 to cargo work only.
Tumblr media
From user @.jackdbur: MD tried many "New" things to make sales many of their ideas were badly engineered and executed, much of this is due to how the company was organised, Management > bean counters > engineering. Thin push rods to lock baggage doors what could go wrong, those big bolts holding the engines on we can go a size down and save some money, & this one let's make this airliner unstable as to see what happens.
Tumblr media
From user @.Wolfeson28
Exactly. My first thought when I heard that was: why on earth would you want the slats to always default to the retracted or the extended position? What you want in the event of the system failing is for the flaps and slats to stay in whichever position they're already in! This is so befuddling in that it's almost the same problem that contributed to the crash of American 191 in Chicago - the plane didn't have a mechanical system to lock the slats in place, so when the hydraulics on the left wing were compromised, those slats retracted under the air load and the wing ended up stalling. In the same vein, the unusually high speeds and reduced stability mentioned earlier directly contributed to the crashes of FedEx flights 14 (Newark) and 80 (Narita). The more I learn about the DC/MD-10/11 series of planes, the more I can't help feeling they're almost as bad as their reputations make them seem.
Tumblr media
From user @.kenoliver8913:
And compounded by some poor ergonomic design. Keyboards and important levers/switches should be spaced far enough apart you can never hit one while operating the other. Think about if you were trying to punch numbers into that keyboard as you hit a little real turbulence …
From user @.grantcivyt
This thread is why there appears so little innovation in commercial aviation. Safety is important but so is experimentation.
Tumblr media
From user @.sparkyy0007 All fail safe systems must be designed to fail to a predictable default position, either extended or retracted. In the case of a flap system failure, a flap remaining in some undefined position could cause complete loss of roll control by becoming an unintentional aileron. Flaps fully extended fail-safe position allows a reasonable landing speed and the ability to synchronize the working flaps to the fail-safe to maintain roll stability.

From user @.akchuck100: My wife was in management at the Hospital in Anchorage when this happened. It was called a 'CODE External" over the hospital wide speakers. That meant that there were a large number of casualties coming into the hospital from outside the hospital (as opposed to a code internal, casualties from an 'In Hospital' emergency'). The emergency plan was designed for emergencies like a plane crash at the airport in town. The expectation was that employees would rush to the hospital to give help within 20 minutes or so. However, even though Providence Alaska Medical Center was the closest Hospital and because of the distance from the incident over the Aleutian Islands, it was still another 6 hours before the first casualties were expected to arrive at the hospital. There were 150, non-English speaking Chinese nationals who needed medical help. Great praise should go to not only the hospital personnel who rushed into work and then waited for the emergency to arrive, but to the passengers and crew who dealt with the victims for A LONG F-ING TIME before they could get real medical help. Also, great appreciation should go to all the employees of every Chinese restaurant in town (especially 'Charlies Bakery') who supplied VOLUNTEER translators to the hospital at a moments notice.
