People asking how Mattel agreed to the Barbie movie as if capitalist recuperation of anti-capitalist text is a new phenomenon.
As if "corporate overlords bad" is not the plot of hundreds of movies. as if the Barbie movie says anything constructive on capitalism or patriarchy.
As if Mattel isn't making a whole lot of money right now. They knew that Barbie + Greta Gerwig + Feminism + right wing crybabies = profit. There's no such thing as bad PR.
Capitalism is a machine that turns EVERYTHING into profit. Even it's own critique, even the tools people try to dismantle it with.

It's a little ironic (is that the word to use here?) That Barbie specifically takes a jab at Bratz by having a girl named Sasha look like a killjoy feminist for critisizing Barbie & Mattel when Gerwig only ever cares about white feminism & Bratz has always been more inclusive than Barbie/Mattel

I'm not trying to call this person out, because he seems cool overall, but I really think that people might want to think before they write things like this in their Barbie reviews.

finally watched the barbie movie. guys it's literally just an advertisement. yall hyped up an advertisement. y'all hyped up a 2-hour russian nesting doll of advertisements with surface level feminism that doesn't actually accomplish anything. this is literally just a giant, "edgy-but-self-aware" advertisement. it says alllll the right things, all of the politically correct things, but at the end of the day IT! IS! STILL! AN! AD!!! mattel does NOT care about ur asses and the literal BILLION dollars they made off of this movie only proves that.

PEOPLE DONT REALISE THEY WANT COMMUNUSM (BARBIE REFERENCE)
In the movie the males took control over the goverment (which is in this case the working class) for their advantage, oppressing and controlling what the females wanted
basically in this example the capitalists are the males and the working class are the females.
IN THE REAL WORLD CAPITALISTS TOOK OVER THE WORKING CLASS FOR THEIR ADVANTAGE OPPRESSING AND CONTROLLING WHAT THE WORKING CLASS WANTS
In the barbie movie, the females realized they had all the power and that's how they freed Barbie-land
See???? In Marxist Ideology, its about the working class realizing they have all the power they should free themselves from the capit sts

the conspiracy rightoid Taylor critics actually have a knack for making her seem way cooler than she is. "Taylor is a leftist witch satanic radical feminist who is brainwashing her cult of female fans to hate men and bring communism to the united states" god I fucking wish lol

The meanest thing I can say about any movie is it makes me feel sad and hopeless the more I think about it and that's the way Barbie made me feel

Not to say something so capitalist as a socialist, but I kind of don't care if the Barbie movie is actually some big ploy to sell more barbies, its been so much fun to see people excited about something that is at its core is made for girls enjoyment, for a traditionally feminine interest to be celebrated not ridiculed. Also at least its propaganda to buy dolls not like military propaganda or something
