Probably parts of LPK and LPKII. That series is my safe place, my comfort blanket, and I'll jump into one of the chapters every once in a while and read a bit. Occasionally, I even find a typo. I swear those buggers are pesky little things hiding in places I SWEAR I LOOKED BEFORE!

Oh, definitely. I absolutely think my style has changed and continues to change. Since the start of this year (and perhaps even a little before then), I've made it my priority to focus on show and not tell, and I try to apply it as much as possible, mainly by describing places so vividly that it feels like my readers are right there (at least I hope they are) and putting special emphasis on emotions, showing them rather than telling my readers how the character is feeling. It's been such a powerful journey of discovery, and I'm so addicted to continuing down this path.

all cacti are succulents but not all succulents are cacti. what distinguishes them is a specialized structure for their spines bearing the unfortunate title "areolae".

there are three types of spines that can grow off of this structure: central spines (darker, stiff, in the middle of the areole), radial spines (lighter, often yellowish and less stiff, radiating off of the central) and glochids, a species specific adaptation for protection. these spines detach like little splinters and they hurt like hell, however they are only found on prickly pears and chollas (opuntia and cylindropuntia).

lastly, the terms "cacti" and "cactuses" are both correct plural forms of "cactus".

I love how thoughtful Jamie’s uncles day gift to Roy is because I cannot imagine Roy is a good gift giver. I would really recommend against this! Cacti shouldn't be eaten raw as a general rule, and barrel cacti (the kind that that you see cartoon people drinking) will probably make you throw up and LOSE water – it's also supposed to taste really bad. Just generally poisonous. (However, a lot of desert animals can safely eat these because they are adapted to their environment).
