On 12 December 1901, the first transatlantic wireless transmission was received on Signal Hill by Guglielmo Marconi in an abandoned fever and diphtheria hospital, which has since been destroyed by fire. The transmission, in Morse code, originated from his Poldhu Wireless Station, Cornwall, UK.

Synopsis; inspired by s13ep9 when the lawyer calls alex “sweetheart” and munch steps in his face and goes “ADA Cabot” but with y/n and someone disrespecting her while they’re on a date.

—Contrary to popular belief, Seargent John Munch could indeed be aggressive; There were several instances where his slither of aggression would come out to play and many of them involved disrespect; Many of them also involved Mrs. Munch, who John didn’t take any disrespect towards. She was the one person you couldn’t fuck with when in his presence, though it was better not to disrespect her at all; It always got back to John. Always.

With a job like John’s, hours could be messy, and date nights few, and though you and John had been married for 10 years, you always vowed to keep your relationship new by setting aside a day just for the two of you- After a particularly stressing case, John had been looking forward to that day without a doubt, and no matter how many date nights you had? He would still think of you as the most beautiful woman in the world, storing it away into his brain as a fond memory, from the outfit you wore to the way you smiled.

John hated it when something took away your smile.

The night was young, the two of you danced and giggled like teenagers; John saw the future in your eyes once more and decided it still looked quite heavenly as he kissed from your hand to your arm, humming the tune of the song you danced to near your ear, your curls sneaking their way into his shirt.

Before long the night took you to the bar whilst your husband disappeared to the bathroom; smoking a cigar with a martini in front of you slowly leaving with each sip you’d take. You were talking to the bartender, she was a close friend you and Munch had known from the beginning of your relationship till now; She recounted her current life situation while you just barely listen with a dazed nod and a “mhm” thrown in here or there- Suddenly there was a body next to yours and it wasn’t your John.

You at first ignored the figure looming, continuing to talk with your friend whilst he willed your eyes his way, failing miserably; talking was the next step.

“Hey there, dollface. You look…stunning”. You could hear a raspy smokers voice next to you and when you looked over at them your suspicions were confirmed, “Rodney…Whaddya want”? you asked, fully prepared for the creep to fuck with you, he was known for it and he’d taken a particular liking to you after seeing you at a fashion show you’d modeled in Manhattan- Since then you could swear you’d seen him everywhere but you’d definitely neglected to tell John about him knowing with his profession he’d pursue the topic persistently.

“I want a dance pretty lady” Rodney slurs, smelling of pure liquor, you had to hold back the urge to vomit, your face upturned into a pretty scowl, “I’m a married woman, Roddy. Getcho liquor smelling ass away from me”.

Rodney mirrors your scowl, only grimmer. You wanted to say you weren’t intimidated by the prick in the slightest but his 6’3 towered over your 5’2 easily and paired with his overwhelming drunkenness; you wished John would hurry.

“Oh, you want me to be rougher, huh? Okay, bitch let’s playyyy ball”! His voice raises, and he catches your arm in a hideous grip, his face near you; the smell of whiskey directly in your face. You tried to pull away but even while ridiculously drunk, the man was disturbingly strong, “Where’s that husband of yours, whore? He ain’t here and he ain’t real, is he? So, why don’t you just part those pretty legs for me, already? Stop denying me when I know you want me, Latifah”.

“That’s not her name, and maybe you remember me, Rodney. Sergeant John Munch…Take your hands off my wife, Rodney”.

The word wife must’ve rang through his brain a thousand times before it registered he was sexually harassing a sex crime sgt’s wife; He ripped his hand away like you’d caught fire- Stuttering apologies as Munch neared him, “I’m being nice when I tell you this, asshole. Come around the beautiful lady again and we’ll go dancing to a jail cell. I’ll even bring ya roses. How about that”?

You looked at your husband like your superhero, the sweet conspiracy theorist suddenly looked like someone better than Batman in your eyes, and that made you fall in love with him even more; Rodney looked like a clown, his face still shocked bumbling out apologies to try and save his ass as he stumbled off. You roll your eyes, snickering.

“Took you long enough, Munch” You tease, calling him Munch to make him think you were mad at him.

“My apologies, I’ll reject my bladders invite next time” Throwing his arm around you with a scoff, “That’s why you’ve been so paranoid, isn’t it”?

He knew. Of course he knew, you shouldn’t have expected anything less, he could read you like an open book, he favorite book at that- He could sit there for hours on end observing the smallest of things about you to tuck away in his suit pocket for later conveniences. You look away, and he takes your silence as an answer with a small ‘ah’, he fills in the blank.

“I don’t go that overboard, do I”? He asked jokingly, squeezing your shoulder gently walking out of the bar.

You look at your husband with a raise of your brow, and your next words prove to him he’d still picked the right woman to love and marry. Your voice flat and sarcastic.

“You could be a comedian, John”.
