Dear Journal -

Things are going pretty well! I know the watcher is working on Auntie Poppy's story right now, so I don't mind giving you an update on all the goings and comings and goings again.

A few days ago was TV season Premiere Day, Daddy was working so he missed it. Dad said we could tape it so he could watch it later. He also got a really silly GTW illness that went away before the show was even over. The best way to get better when you're sick- waiting for the buff to expire.

Good Dad got back after I fell asleep, must have been kinda boring for evil dad watching the same show over again.

The next day Auntie Poppy invited Daddy to Tomarang for lunch. (that's in EP 15 btdubs)

He asked her if she ever wanted kids as a joke just to see the face she made- I get it, there's a lot of sciencey stuff and tubes involved.

But since the night market didn't open til - y'know night, the watcher got bored waiting and we got to have a family dinner! Leanne made Samosa Soup 😋

The Day After was like SO RAINY- I hate rainy days. Outdoors is where all the good stuff is. Dad and Leanne had to fly all the way to Mt. Komorebi for a League of Evil Meeting. He told me they're working on wiping all the CAS nose shadows from existence.

Daddy knows how much I hate rainy days- but he always seems to find a way to make things better.

We ended up building this massive blanket fort in the lounge!!! It was really cool actually- we played my sims racers together!

Daddy's really bad at video games 🤣 he says it's cause he grew up unplayed, but it's totally a skill issue cause I'm amazing at them 😎

Then Dad and Leanne got home- I thought they'd be SOOPER MAD- Dad hates it when we move around the furniture in the lounge. But we all ended up watching Lost Dog's Way Home 4 together.

I guess rainy days aren't so bad sometimes. That's all for now journal!! See you later!

A Strangerville Lookbook, pt. 6 Ft. Anwar Nabih

Anwar had a rough time adjusting to his new life in the states after he and his family moved when he was about 9 years old. Being the middle child would normally come with many advantages, but unfortunately his parents were "equal opportunists" when it came to their strict oversight. Needless to say, his rebellion was always met with scrutiny and although he did not leave the rebellious nature in his teen years, his family loves him and accepts him all the same.

And with that, all the protagonists from my upcoming Strangerville series have been properly introduced! Here is my simblreen treat from the other day, posted as one big treat. These are all the sims I made for my spooktober edits (except for Persephone, see notes below). Since I don’t really play with occults, here they are for you to give them a new home and play with instead! Hope you enjoy!

What you can do:

name them, their names are randomised anyway

tweak them to your liking, dress them however you want, etc.

change their sexualities, pronouns, etc., if you really must

change their life state, especially considering many of them aren’t actual occult sims

Tag Game for Historical Simblrs!

1. What has been your favorite time period to play in or which one are you most excited for?

Oh gosh... This is really going to take some thought. I have really enjoyed the 1890s because of the labor reform and industrial revolution aspects of the time, but there's also the 1920s and 1930s when there was a massive amount of science discovered and environmental damage that will affect future generations.

2. Do you have a favorite piece of historical cc? (CAS or BB)

I really love @linzlu's retro sinks, but I also can't function w/o a lot of @gilded-ghosts's outfits.

3. Who is your favorite sim currently?

So it's actually little Gordon. His future is heavily inspired by my own interests and emotional events that shaped and altered me. I'm very excited to develop his story.

4. What is your favorite world?

I love all of them for different reasons, but Brindleton, Windenburg, and Granite Falls are probs my favorites.

5. Are you more gameplay or story focused?

I play the game to get to the good parts of the story I want to tell. Sometimes the game throws me for a loop though and I need to alter my story to fit the gameplay, but the story definitely drives a lot of how I play.

6. Do you like to play with pets in your historical saves?

I do, but not cats. I like having dogs, but I a dog person IRL so its just a natural fit. I miss the dog from Gen 0 but it hasn't felt right in the story to have a dog again.

7. What’s your biggest immersion breaking pet peeve with the game?

The weird outfits on the pets in Brindleton. I can't seem to find a mod or anything that will make pets not wear clothing.

8. What’s your favorite in-game historical item? (CAS or BB)

... Probably the boots from Vampires or the lace-up boots that came with GTW.

9. What would you like to see as a new pack or asset to the game?

I would like to see more free swim areas. The areas in Britechester and Sulani are cool, but Brindleton could use some free swim areas along the coast.

10. What pack do you think is invaluable as a historical simmer?

Obvs, Cottage Living, but I have to agree with Get Together or Vampires for their build mode items.

11. Do you have a favorite mod to enhance historical gameplay?

So many, but MCCC, Better UI, Better Exceptions, TOOL, BBB, Timeless, Home Regions, Language Barrier, and I know I'm forgetting some.

12. What’s your ideal family size for playing?

4-5 people. I hate when the dice dole out 5-6 children. I really dislike the new newborn phase and the toddler phase is something to just tolerate.

13. Do you use poses?

All. The. Time.

14. Do you use any overrides in your game?

I had a crib override at one point, but infants broke it.

15. Do you, or did you, play off-the-grid during your game?

I played OTG all through the 1850s to the 1880s. 1880s including plumbing being added. Electricity was added in 1890.

16. What lifespan do you play on?

I play on normal lifespan, but with the days in each stage altered slightly. In my game, 2.8 days equals 1 year; so some years are 3 days long and some are only 2. 28 days = 10 years

17. What inspired you to start playing a historically?

I have always loved history and learning about it. For about half a second during my junior year, I thought about becoming a history teacher until I remembered that I don't actually like interacting with most people. I have, thankfully, learned the skills to deal with people on a daily basis but some (most) days it's exhausting.

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? not usually, no, but i have done it by tweaking a bit in cas, rarely but i it happened

How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? i made a lot of long haired blondes with ballroom dresses in my ts2 era for some reason, i dont even know where i was getting cc from, really long hair and ballroom dresses on the toddlers too if you can imagine oh and i had mermaid tails from downloading oher sims so naturally i made a bunch of sirens all the time

24. How do you edit your pictures? i use gimp the open-source queen, for my spellcaster legacy i was trying to do a scrappy photoset vibe, mystical motherhood im literaly just cropping and since ive reinstalled shaders i just use a preset for stardew moon bc i am nothing if not lazy ig

25. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? none, id like them to fix the game we already have 😘 but if i had to ig faeries for gamepack, travel for expansion (with 3 decent worlds & hotels plz) and literally any stuff pack so they can say they didnt lie to us about it 🤡

What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? im a sucker for sulani so island living for EP? although the mermaids deserved better, big cottage stan but wish goats and horses were on it so not on the podium & get together still has the best world; paranormal stuff pack by faaaaar, it was the least cash grabby SP ever i thought i was dreaming when they didnt call it a gamepack

New Lore Following Ophelia Nigmos

Alright, so I’m about to use this account as a notebook for my new lore stories. Sims 4 doesn’t have nearly as much lore as it should so I’ve taken it upon myself to put a new spin on lore.

So we all remember Olive Specter from Sims 2 (most likely a serial killer especially to her poor husbands, baby with the grim reaper, took in her niece Ophelia after her parents died, we stan). I had the idea of making some lore that takes place years after Olive’s death. Here’s an example of the family description:

“On Olive Specter’s deathbed, she spilled her secrets to her niece Ophelia. Ophelia was mortified at the depraved things Olive had done for who she had loved. Desperate to find out more answers, Ophelia dug as much as she could into Olive’s past. She found her cousin, Nervous Subject, and helped him escape the cruel Beakers’ clutches, landing them straight into prison for what they’d done. Some time later, she married her childhood sweetheart Johnny Smith. They all moved in together and became a real family, Nervous included. Today, that family unit threatens to break apart. After years of obsession into Olive, Ophelia never found all of the answers. She never found out the truth about her parents and if Olive had anything to do with their deaths. At this point, there’s only one person left that has the answers she’s looking for... the Grim Reaper himself. But what lengths will she go to to speak with him? How much of Olive is in Ophelia after being with her for so long? Will she follow in her footsteps or right her wrongs? Who is the mysterious woman leaving letters in Ophelia’s mailbox asking for her help, claiming to have known Olive? And where’s Johnny going so late some evenings, not returning until the early morning?”

It’s a long description, I know, but here’s how I’m thinking this can play out. I had a separate idea for a spellcaster (or regular sim) woman who’s been alive for hundreds of years because she keeps feeding sims to her cowplant (since it gives you a youth potion once someone is eaten by a cowplant twice in a short amount of time; Mother Gothel vibes). Perhaps Olive wasn’t working alone in her quest of romance to the grim reaper. Maybe they helped each other. The woman got her youth potion, and Olive got to see Grim often. Perhaps the woman now is going too long without youth potions since she’s not personable enough to lure as many sims to her cowplant like Olive was. Perhaps she wants Ophelia to be the new Olive.

Perhaps Ophelia can follow in Olive’s footsteps starting with Johnny. She might think he’s having some kind of affair (whether or not you make it true in your game) which would prompt her to work with the woman to feed him to her cowplant. I thought Ophelia would make a good detective (get to work) or perhaps some kind of investigator (CC, or paranormal). Maybe she can work to resurrect her parents (their graves are in Olive’s backyard; you can go into CAS and create them), or Olive herself.

Another potentially interesting household to play during this is perhaps the Beakers in prison maybe with some other prisoners from your world, then they could break out. I saw Maxis had a household for them already created with two clone children so that could be an interesting storyline, since cloning is possible in Sims 4 with GTW. It could be a random child in the world.

So there are some potentially interesting storylines to play that more or less follow the existing lore with some extra twists. I hope you like it! Let me know if you want to hear more! I have a whole bunch of these types of storylines I’ll be posting. I’m essentially using this as brainstorming for myself. I might also link the plum tree family with individual descriptions like I did for the Goth family soon.

Hi. So I checked and I couldn't find a tutorial for what I need (I apologize if I overlooked it) but I was hoping you could help me. So I found decor cc that requires GTW (the cc creator used a mesh from GTW) and I wanted to know how to make it BGC. Do you have a tutorial on how to do that? I kinda found one for CAS but not one for build/buy mode and I'm too inexperienced with s4pe to figure it out.

ah to make something BGC, just copy a base game item, swap the meshes and boom, it's BGC.

I initially made a whole long bulleted post on my thoughts on the pack so far w/ the livestream but it was way too long and I'd like to keep it simple. This post is also a bit lengthy but not nearly as. ANYWAY:

ADORE the build/buy, especially since Art Deco is one of my favorite styles! Curved walls were also a really nice surprise, and I love all the clutter and posters & what not. Really happy the trellis changes w/ the seasons too :) CAS was a bit more hit and miss for me. like most of the items are cute, but while some of designs by Depop sellers were nice, some of them are also ugly as hell and things i think only rich influencers w/ bad fashion sense wear sorry LOL

As for gameplay, let's get the negativity out of the way first: I... actually feel like they might have got too ambitious with this pack, and that some of the most important gameplay features may have suffered for it. Like what was up w/ the single goals throughout the school day? I was exhausted during the stream, but it seemed like they might have stayed the same too. At very least, they're repetitive, which is fine in GTW bc like... you have multiple tasks to choose from. But because of it going to school just felt sooo bland and boring and this is coming from someone that likes some slower gameplay and likes get to work and was looking forward to active school.

It's cool that sims can learn skills during class and make decisions about their assignments, but other than that there's like. Nothing. You should be able to try talking to people! Pass them notes or text them! You should be able to slack off or sleep in class etc. I'm also still hoping we haven't seen everything and that we get some more homework assignments and things like University has, like it would have been fun to have to give presentations sometimes. Otherwise like, high school feels really lacking for such a core feature. The Prom actually looked fine and even fun, but the school experience itself managed to give some MWS vibes. Also where did the trays go

Anyway other than that. The amount of effort put into thrifting was actually a pleasant surprise, though now I'm reeeally hoping for a GTW refresh that enables buying clothes in general. I'm REALLY glad Social Bunny ended up being more than just something for the trailer bc I always thought online dating in ts3 was cute, and I was surprised by how intricate it was. Also the phone makeover is cute and so are the new selfies :)

Finally, I'm honestly most excited about everything we'll be getting in base game. Wants & Fears was an insane surprise, and I'm glad we're getting not only orientation in the game finally, but that it's so intricate. I was disappointed to see only binary options, I hope they can fix that in the future, but I was really glad to see that they were inclusive both of those that are aromantic/asexual and those who experience split attraction!
