honestly people who don’t speak out against the genocide in palestine because they’re ‘not educated enough to make an informed decision’ completely baffle me. like it’s not that complicated, people are literally being killed & their country is being colonized! if you’d take the time to research it for literally 10 seconds, you’d be able to easily see that the idf are obviously the bad guys here!

i feel like i can talk to you about this because you have rational opinions. so louis bought a starbucks coffee at the airport and the fandom on twitter are eating him alive, calling him evil and wishing he goes to hell. i’m disappointed since starbucks is on the list of brands to boycott but i feel like this reaction is too much? someone even said jay would be disappointed in him, but people said that was taking it too far. i don’t know, i love louis and i’ll keep supporting him and his music but the fact he can be a careless millionaire is disappointing
1. thank you sweetie I would boop if I could 2. oh my god it's a fucking cup of coffee and if people think that's the worst thing Louis, a multi millionaire, has ever done financially they need a reality check! His money will be handled by bankers who are putting it into all kinds of evil fucking shit that he won't even know about, it's actually very hard to know or control that and there is no way trying is even on his radar. That's a passive thing and not on purpose; but the fact that people don't bother to know about that or care really speaks to how performative this kind of online approach to activism is, that they only care about image rather than effect (the effect of his investments would be easily thousands of times more than any number of coffees or even of the promotion Starbucks might get from him holding it.) But furthermore buckle in cause you hit a nerve: Starbucks isn't even an actual organized boycott target as concerns Palestine because THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ISRAELI GOVERNMENT financially! The official BDS movement calls for boycott of very specific and pointed targets of which Starbucks IS NOT ONE it's literally just an online trend which is not the same as an actual boycott to materially impact a target! Losing them money is always great, they are a crappy union busting small business killing corporation, but it has zero direct effect to help Palestinians unlike supporting the meaningful boycotts called for by BDS. I don't think Louis has decided to buy starbucks because he has this analysis, but to me it's a pretty important point. Him crossing an actual picket line (playing Israel, playing Eurovision [lmaoooo that thought tho], waving an Israeli flag god forbid) would be a very different situation and something that would trouble me so the distinction matters to me. But I get that to people on twitter, that's what they feel like he has done. To which I would say...
There are so many fewer ways to help Palestine than we would wish, and it's SO hard to deal with feeling so powerless right now in the face of such horror, so I love that people feel so strongly about doing whatever they possibly can. But worrying about consumer spending, even on BDS targets, is perhaps the least effective of the things a person can do. Note that BDS boycotts do not mostly focus on asking people not to buy things; they list the products that are especially complicit, but the main work of the movement is to get large investors (corporations, public institutions, whole governments) to divest from the companies targeted because that actually hurts them enough that it becomes less profitable to continue to collude with Israel than to drop them as clients. Consumer spending is not enough to do this. It's easy and doesn't require doing actual work but it's basically virtue signaling, not organizing. Just NOT doing something (yes including voting) is not enough! I personally choose not to give my money to certain corporations because it feels bad to me and I can't stomach doing it, even if they never notice me doing it. But if I was running out of fuel and the only nearby station was a Chevron, I would spend a few bucks there and not beat myself up about it because it will have zero impact on their overall profit reports but a LOT of impact on my life. And if I was in the airport for the second time in mere days after circumnavigating the globe and playing a massive show and doing press and fan service before even having time to adjust time zones and about to get on another flight to another country I might buy a fucking coffee from whatever coffee shop was in there too! But Louis isn't me and I'm gonna be real honest I would be real surprised if he KNEW there was a boycott or gave a shit- he is not a political activist! It's reasonable to be disappointed if someone behaves not how you want them to, but just in general responding to being disappointed in people by lashing out at them is... not it. Not useful, not rational, and not actually an okay way to act to other people. Louis is an awesome sweet caring person who I believe tries hard not to have a negative impact on anyone directly and who cares very much about others; if that's not enough for someone to be a fan of him, okay then they should not be a fan of him! But warning: they're not going to be able to be a fan of anyone else either. No one is pure and perfect... maybe that energy would be better spent trying to make a meaningful difference in the world, and a great first step in that IMO is to recognize and challenge your inner cop. The better world I want to live in doesn't include policing other people, not on twitter and not anywhere.

I saw a post that said "If Israelis stopped fighting, there would be no more killing. If Palestinians stopped fighting, there would be no more Palestinians." I think that really gets the point across about where the violence is stemming from.
People say that they worry about the women and children, but it's everyone that matters. Yes, men are usually the ones who go to war and they're usually the breadwinners of families, but they matter too. Every single life matters, no matter where they're from or which religion they follow.
I've seen petitions going around for countries to cut trading ties with Israel like when the world stopped trading with South Africa in order to influence them to stop Apartheid. If you see any of those petitions in your country, please sign them.
How much hatred can a man possibly have in his heart to stab an innocent 6 year old boy 26 times? It's absolutely horrific! I can't imagine what that boy's mother must be going through after she was also stabbed multiple times, yet now she has to go on living with the loss of her child.
This is being blown way out of proportion. Whether the issue is against religion or to try to claim land, there are better ways to resolve conflict. Yes, many Israelis have been lost too, but the number of Palestinians who have suffered death and violence is far greater. There are zionists that are not Jewish. There are Jewish and Christian Palestinians, so people need to stop condemning a specific religion and automatically deeming Muslims as terrorists. Islam is a religion of peace. If people actually bothered to find out more about the religion, they'd know that the word "Islam" comes from the Arabic word "Salaam" which literally means "Peace".
If people don't want to pick a side, if they don't want to choose between supporting Palestine or Israel, just choose peace.
People don't even need to be pro-Palestine or pro-Islam to be pro-Peace
Wow, I have no words… exactly just how you summed it up. That’s how I feel about this whole situation and you’re exactly right not all Palestinians are Muslim! It’s not an issue about religion. It shouldn’t be because there are Jewish Christian Hindu Palestinians as well and Islam, is definitely a religion of peace. Thank you for being so well informed on Islam not a lot of non-Muslims are, and they have a really bad image of us Muslims in their head.
What is happening in Palestine is hell on earth. I wonder how all of these celebrities feel defended and are pro-Israel.. watch them be silent now.
And those who have supported Palestine now are being threatened by the Israeli government.
I don’t know if people realize this, but what Israel is doing in Palestine is real terrorism.

Another girl down. I get these ugly feelings, seeing everyone get back with their ex. I get jealous. I got left. I hate when these ugly feeling resurface. I hate having these negative emotions. I resent these people for being able to effortlessly do the thing I wish and long for. I’m so jaded at the fact Israel of ALL the people in my life really misunderstood me. I miss you and i wish it wasn’t this way but I am no longer going to beg to be chosen by someone who does not want me. It’s so hard seeing how easy it is for people to work out. Even when they complain about their partner it’s like but your partner wants you. My ex left me. He ghosted me. He did not give me a bye or I’m done with you. He gave me silence. He gave me no second thought. Your ex bothers you. I’m not saying it’s better but he wants you and mine did not want me. It’s an ugly feeling. You got someone that chooses you while I got left. I am tired of this. I hate feeling this way it’s painful. It’s painful that you don’t want me you’re not interested in me you don’t care. You don’t look for me. You don’t break at the thought of me while I crumble just seeing you active in Instagram or the fact that you made threads. I’m dying for you to miss me like I miss you but it never comes. How could you forget me so easily. I was looking at our old texts on my old phone and I miss you caring and loving me. I miss you. I feel like a loser. I’m literally at home on a Friday night doing nothing but crying over my ex boyfriend. I miss you. I am tired of feeling forgettable I’m tired of being misunderstood. I can’t believe you left me so effortlessly and not only that but you also aren’t dying on the inside for me. Im still missing a piece of my heart and you just get to continue life. Im stuck in this pain and I’ve been desperately trying to move forward. Some days I feel so far from my goals and other days I’m okay with the stillness of not being where I want to be. I’m just sad why do I have to accept these things but other people get to be with their person. Not only do they get to be with their person but they leave me in the dust. Not only do they leave me in the dust but they come back when things are rocky. Who is here for me? Who is my support? I’m just so sad I miss israel so much and he doesn’t care. I just want to cry forever. Is this how you felt when I broke up with you? Is this my karma? Did I treat you so terribly to deserve this? Why did you always put me in these sorts of situations? Why don’t you care about me? Genuinely someone who cares about you will have the decency to at least cut things out but you didn’t hold that compassion or consideration for me. Why? How could you do this to me? I am not perfect i understand that butWhat you did to me was wrong. It was cruel. It’s almost 8 months no contact and I’m the only person suffering. I don’t want you to suffer but why don’t you look for me? I’m haunted by your memory. I wish you cared more. I can’t help but feel like what’s wrong with me? Why do I attract people that don’t want me? People that don’t consider me, people that don’t prioritize me? Why? My best friend does not invite me anywhere, she does not initiate any plans she does not look for me. My close friend dropped me the moment she returned back to her ex. My cousin silently fired me and left me 2 months without work then acts like nothing happened after putting me in a bad place. My ex literally did not care about me he used me. He would blatantly use me. I feel like a loser bc why doesn’t anyone want me? Why am I not enough? I try my best to be a good person to everyone but sometimes I can’t help but feel like I’m defective bc of this. What’s wrong with me? I just want to be loved. I want to be cared for. I want to be looked after. I want to be considered. I want to be prioritized. I want to be taken care of. I’m tired of being reliable I’m tired of figuring everything out I’m tired of being the grown up. I feel like the neglected little girl in me screams and cries everyday to be seen to be taken care of.

The Palestinian/ Israeli situation in a simplified example
I’m fascinated by how relationships between two individuals and all their details helps in understanding bigger, more complex human relationships. I’ve been diving deep, studying and reading books about narcissism and abusive relationships, then the Palestine/ Israel conflict popped up these days. I connected the dots to many aspects that I really didn’t pay any attention to before. I always had questions like:
- Why are people turning a blind eye (especially from the west) when we are so obviously almost powerless in front of the Israeli military?
- What about the numbers? A minimum of 83 civilians in Gaza were killed in the previous days compared to 7 Israelis, whenever there is friction, we all know that Palestinians pay a higher price, more homes get destroyed, more children die, more families live in fear..etc.
A brief about narcissists, how they behave, and the link between Israel and Palestine.
- All of us probably have seen or were in a relationship with the toxic people that they are. Narcissists are extremely good manipulators, they’ll find a way to always blame you for any problem, play on your weaknesses, your guilt and shame to make you actually feel guilty for things you didn’t even do. They turn tables, always try to catch a fight with you for no reason and have horrible outbursts of anger thrown at you.  If you try to stand your ground and defend yourself, you’ll be denied of this right because: How dare you be so heartless and abusive and not see their pain that led them to be angry at the first place? They’ll always switch to being a victim, they’re the ones that matter, they’re the ones always hurting, they will not see you because the universe obviously revolves around them.
- Defending yourself is always going to be used against you, no matter how you use logic and common sense, they don’t operate the same way we do, it’s THEIR logic and THEIR common sense that matter (that only serves their own selfish benefits). Nothing you say will be heard, no effort will produce any results. If you try to give them a taste of their own poison, they’re only going to bully you more, attack you more and hurt you more.
- Narcissists organize people in hierarchies, in their head, those who deserve respect are those who are richer than them, higher in status, have more fame, are more successful.  A narcissist will disrespect, devalue, look down on those who are lower in hierarchy. That doesn’t mean they’re mean to everyone below them, narcissists are the ones who treat everyone so nice to serve their self image as a kind, amazing person, then treat their families and closed ones like shit behind closed doors. Their niceness is only that way because its serves a benefit to their ego.
_______________
Important synonym:
Narcissistic supply: Their fuel. Their main source of energy. In case of romantic relationships it is preying on naive, empathetic people who have weak boundaries. These people will give the narcissist what they want, attention, sacrifice and love (and of course the opposite treatment is devaluing, bullying and disrespect). Without this supply, a narcissist -literally- emotionally dies. Which is why going no contact or “ghosting” the narcissist in a romantic relationship drives them insane and causes them intolerable pain.
In case of Israel, what’s feeding the parasite is the US aid and all the countries that stand by their side, approve of their state and feed their agenda. This approval is what is keeping them alive. Being short of this supply threatens their presence.
The narcissist’s allies: These are the people standing behind them, supporting them, believing them, enabling their behaviors. These allies are what feeds the narcissists ego, in case of a relationship, it’s his other (also abusive) friends who keep talking about how shitty they treat their wives, which makes the narcissist feel that what he’s doing is approved and normal. Without these allies, the narcissist would feel indifferent. He would start to feel a bit wrong if others seriously point out his behavior. Nothing strikes a narcissist as the feeling of indifference.
You might be wondering why do people fall prey to these monsters and date/ be-friend them?
The LOVE-BOMBING stage: The facade the narcissist puts to lure you in. It’s when the narcissist idolizes you, appreciates you, mirrors your good qualities to make you think you’re meant for each other. In the context of the conflict, it’s when Israel shows how compassionate and righteous of a state it is and makes connections with countries to be-friend them (then stabs them in the back).
______________
- You’ll always be the evil one: Because narcissists are master manipulators, they will convince people that their victim (ex.: abused wife) is crazy, even her own children would believe. The woman will find herself alone and everyone’s led to believe the abusive man just because of how charismatic and confident he sounds. This “crazy woman” is the equivalent of these “Hamas Terrorists”.  This card is used to discredit you as a human, a card to alienate, stop others from listening to your opinion nor rationalize your actions to defend yourself. Because why would you rationalize a woman who’s irrational? Why would you rationalize someone labeled “terrorist”? Terrorists just destroy right? They don’t think before doing anything they’re doing.
- Narcissists avoid responsibility at all costs, if you hold them accountable for their words or actions they’ll deny, gaslight and play the victim in order to avoid changing their behavior. They will always have an excuse, no matter what.
- These people KNOW they are wrong, they KNOW they’re being illogical, they KNOW their abuse and how it affects others. And they CHOOSE to stay like that because of the privileges that come with it.
Conclusion:
Using common sense doesn’t work with these people. They only recognize and would respect those who have power above them.
Appealing to their moral judgment is impossible.
The way to revenge, is NOT equal destruction. It is power, and turning everyone against them. Social media spreads awareness and Israel will not succeed in concealing their crimes for too long.  “ The best revenge is to live on and prove yourself.”
Those Arab countries who are friends with Israel is exactly as if the woman’s sister in an abusive relationship sides with the physically abusive husband just because he’s so charismatic and funny “How could you say such bad things about him?”, the abusive man: “See! even your sister thinks you’re crazy and don’t make sense!”. These Arab countries betray our Palestinian brothers and sisters and enable more abuse for them.
Why are people turning a blind eye?  Why don’t numbers matter?
Lets be honest, would you have more feelings of respect or more feelings of pity towards a woman who allowed herself to enter an abusive relationship? You’ll always have this question in your head: Why didn’t she just reject the guy when she saw the red flags in the early stages? People deeply have more feelings of pity or empathy over respect for those who allow themselves to be abused by others.
But it’s different with the conflict, it’s not like a person to person situation. It’s more complex, because Arab governments at a point allowed this cancer to settle. Arab leaders DIDN’T represent their citizens and DIDN’T stand their ground and for sure had common interests with Israel, and no one respects those who betray their own people. Our generations will pay a price they didn’t have to pay, because of their decisions. Just like the abused woman’s kids will pay the price of being in a dysfunctional home, and having a cruel father, even though it’s not their fault, they didn’t choose this.
This puts a responsibility on us, individuals, to take action, send donations and unite as one to help and hope it does an impact.
Please don’t feel shame if you feel helpless. Just like the children who didn’t choose their bullying father. None of us, Arab citizens, chose this. We are paying prices we didn’t have to pay and we either decide to be responsible for it and turn it to productive actions or be bitter about it and give up (not recommended). All of us have to understand the dynamics of such problem and not guilt ourselves, and just do the best we can right now.
So, again, why do people turn a blind eye?
1- Refusing to look at the conflict as an international human rights violation. Same reason why there aren’t laws to regulate domestic violence in many countries and some will justify and say: “The woman chose this person herself”, “We have more important issues to solve”, - even though it can get extremely violent - which is failure to take responsibility for what’s right. Some consider it an Arab problem that Arabs just have to deal with, because they allowed it in the first place! So, international human rights foundations and those countries that have the power to do anything won’t take responsibility because it is against their interests and gain or simply because: “Why bother?”, and blame it on our governments, which kind of makes sense.
2- Because some see the Arab world as a nation that’s inferior. We are not in the top hierarchies in a lot of fields (economy, education, health care,..etc) in terms of what we add to the world or to our own citizens. This doesn’t mean we are failures at an individual level, we don’t lack what makes us excel, but we are seen generally (as countries) as mediocre. For many reasons, like poverty and ignorance. This way of thinking also follows the same ideology of a narcissist: only feel compassion and empathy towards others based on hierarchy.
3-Stereotypes. Since all the middle eastern news is not very decent. That puts the pressure on individuals to reinforce a good impression that their countries and societies failed to make, and correct the false impressions of them as well. If you’re Muslim/ Arab living abroad you might feel you have to smile wider just to prove you’re a good person. Which is very exhausting, and again, you’re paying a price you shouldn’t pay. For a mistake you didn’t make. Many won’t have that Arab friend to prove their stereotypes wrong, so they’ll just keep themselves busy with their own country’s issues.
4- Because people are not connected to us. Take South Korea as an example. They have achieved tremendous success in reaching people with their art and music, people from all over the world recognize their hard work and effort so they’ll therefore empathize with their pain. Don’t be surprised if twitter explodes with hashtags of a K-pop group member having a flu but no hashtags for children getting killed in Palestine. As much as it’s sad, it’s human nature to feel empathy towards those who you have emotional connection to.
5- Its a sensitive topic, so people just want to avoid any clash. They don’t know who’s right and who’s wrong and therefore feel like they don’t have enough info to judge the whole thing.
What to do?
Focus on ourselves, set valuable goals, have integrity.
Be aware that conflict is part of life, don’t paralyze yourself in negativity.
Not be tricked to play the role of the victim. We can change so much if we focus our power into our strengths instead of dwelling.
Do our best to be the best person in our job and excel in our field.
Ending with two of my favorite quotes:
“It’s better to be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener in war”
“When you begin the journey of revenge, be sure to dig two graves, one for your enemy and one for yourself.”

heya folks
gonna write a long post about the nicest person i know who i’ll probably never see again :’[
it’s an interesting story, but i wouldn’t blame you for not wanting to take the time to read it. do what you’d like!
it was after 7th grade just ended; i wasn’t in the best place emotionally, things kinda sucked. i was excited for camp, however, something i always looked forward to. i got placed in a bunk and stuff, of which there were 4; i was happy with the counselors, too (their names were ariel and jared). i was kinda bummed that one of my favorite counselors, named eli, wasn’t working there as a counselor anymore - he still worked at the camp, but whatever position he had i didn’t see him around as much.
at camp i would carry around a drawing notebook and a fanny pack, in which i had pens, pencils, the like. i soon noticed that another counselor, named shai, had a fanny pack; no, we didn’t ‘bond’ over it or whatever, but that’s one thing that made him grab my attention.
my camp is a ramah camp, which is a jewish camp; one of the activities that we’d have were a kind of elective we’d sign up for, called ‘shiur’ (literally means work), which integrated jewish learning with some activity - sometimes it’d be calligraphy, or pokemon, or super heroes. during first session i chose the pokemon shiur. normally, during the shiur period, counselors would go off and have a meeting. but, for some reason, shai would always hang out near where we’d have our pokemon shiur. i knew, of course, that this was because of julian.
i don’t know a specific reason why, but camp ramah tends to have a good number of autistic kids going there; some of them have a specific ‘caretaker’ of sorts who are with them to make sure they’re okay. my sister had one, my friend abby, and julian - shai tended to be with him and made sure he was okay. (something i find fascinating about julian was how he loved drawing road maps and signage)
it just so happened that julian picked the same shiur as me both sessions -pokemon in first and super heroes in second - so shai tended to be around. in this way i got to get to know him.
he noted my art on several occasions - he said that i’d be good at doing henna considering how frequently i’d draw on the back of my hand; when making the banners for color war, he said he’d abduct me so i could do the banner for his team (no abducting ever occurred, lol)
shai is a very funny person - i don’t know his mbti type, but i’m dead set on him being an nf. he was nice to be around, and i keep describing him as ‘supportive’; no wonder why, considering the circumstances of most of second session.
near the end of each session, we would have an overnight trip we’d go on (for two nights, three days). on the first trip, shai unfortunately wasn’t able to come for whatever reason. it was still a fun trip, but i still missed him.
come second session, however, and things would be different - shai was able to come with us on our trip to baltimore! i ended up sitting in the back of the coach bus, and shai was sitting across from me. something i noted is that he’s one to ask ‘you okay?’ a lot. and i mean a lot.
on the first day of the trip, we went to the national aquarium, got caught in a downpour, and watched an orioles vs yankees baseball game in the rain. we arrived at the synagogue we were staying in and went to bed; i got my typical 7 hours of sleep.
the next day we went to six flags! i chose the slow group because i’m a wimp. i had been wearing my galaxy hoodie at the time; when we stopped to have lunch, shai seemed concerned about me. woop
we went back into six flags after lunch; at one point we went on some raft ride type thing, and we were sitting on a bench in the sun to dry off (we’d gotten drenched). i was still wearing my hoodie (which, i may note, is rather thick). eventually shai’s group came around and they sat next to us on the bench.
shai checked the temperature on his phone, which was 90 degrees farenheit, so he said that i should probably take off my hoodie; i was only convinced after the “do it for me” thing that people do that just sells it. note: after his group left i put the hoodie back on lmao, now that’s a story i tell a lot (along with the story of eli having gone illegally ziplining with jesus)
that night, for whatever reason, i slept terribly. i fell asleep at 10:40 and woke up 48 minutes later, at 11:28. i was left sitting in the dark, super bored; i watched counselors walk in and out of the room, i counted to 1000, i went to the bathroom to sing to myself, i looked out the window. either way i had to wait 8 hours for everyone else to get up.
by this time this was the last day on the trip, and we were going to go to an elderly home. we packed up our stuff, something i did quickly. i then kind of wandered aimlessly around the room, waiting for everyone else to finish. this prompted another ‘you okay?’ from the shaister.
i managed to nap on the bus, but only for half an hour. we eventually got to the place; we were going to talk to them, give them ceramic gifts that people had apparently made, and that one kid who can play any song on the piano by ear just went off.
you may know that i’m a rather shy person; this, for whatever reason, felt like any party i’d ever been to - isolated and very anxious. there were a number of girls who said they were scared, but they weren’t shy - they were just scared of old people or something. shai convinced them that old people are not scary, then came to console me; he noted that people used the pun of “shy” and “shai” sounding similar on him a lot, but now he could actually use that himself. he didn’t pressure me to do anything i didn’t want to, and even suggested going outside if i really felt uncomfortable. i probably should’ve gone outside, but i didn’t. eventually we all went outside anyway to have rita’s ices, but i didn’t want any.
i’m pretty sure that’s all the trip stuff, but there’s more afterward. there are some stupid inconsequential things that i just find kind of amusing, to say the least. for one thing, there were these tacky plastic champagne glasses that the counselors had for whatever reason; there was this show going on, and everyone was bored out of their minds. shai just gave me one of these stupid glasses with no context, for the lulz or whatever. my response was to draw a smiley face on it with sharpie and give it back. he found this rather amusing.
one day i brought this shark plushie to camp, whom i called ‘smore’ because he looked like a marshmallow. shai insisted it was a piranha just to annoy the heck out of us, an argument that lasted two days.
another thing, one of the counselors was going to be leaving for israel before camp ended, so we had this whole thing where basically you could give a shoutout to anybody and thank them; i decided to thank the counselors in general, as most teenagers wouldn’t tolerate leading around a bunch of loud middle schoolers; shai knew i was a rather shy person, so he said that it was a very good thing of mine to do.
my age group was actually an amalgamation of several age groups - rising 6th graders, rising 7th graders, and rising 8th graders. being in the latter group, i was going to take part in some stupid graduation. and, you see, we all had to write speeches for it.
i wrote a speech, whatever, which mostly consisted of thanking counselors (in general i get along better with figures of authority, eg. counselors or teachers or whatever rather than fellow kids). i was very worried about the whole ordeal, but i did it; afterwards shai said he was proud of me for giving my speech despite how anxious i was about it.
and note how i never outright told the guy how anxious i was about any of these things - he’s just the type of person who knows; i always value people like that, given how i never tell anyone anything :’]
when it came to the last day of camp, i wanted to make sure shai knew how thankful i was for everything he did for me. i didn’t know a single other person who was half as validating and supportive of me as he was. but, being me, i couldn’t just tell him. no, i had to make a hand out of pipe cleaners, write a card, fold it up and make it look like an ice cream cone, put the folded card into the hand, and then awkwardly give it to him.
he initially said he’d read it later; but soon enough he read it and then i got a shai hug. yea!
welp everything after camp sucked! before school started i was so worried how i’d cope with my dumb issues without shai being there; i came to miss him a ton. like really, a ton.
before that summer, i had camp dreams like, heck, maybe once or twice a year?
but since that summer of 2019, i’ve had ~15+ camp dreams. i really missed him. i longed for the support he’d give me when i was anxious, for the knowledge that somebody understood me. i eventually started having headaches a lot, so i came to ‘think’, “oh! he’s trying to telepathically talk to me!”
i never did believe that to be the case, but imagining that i could talk to shai was comforting. every day i’d talk into my hand, telling him how my day went, asking him about his, and sometimes singing him a song or something. this came to be a normal thing i did routinely. i would get worried when i didn’t get headaches for a while, as i perceived those as him ‘responding’, so i would think i did something wrong.
i would frequently worry about if i’d ever see him again - i had no way of knowing if he’d be a counselor at camp this year. then covid-19 came and i knew he couldn’t. at some points it really bothered me how much my mental health revolved around this person who i knew for around 2 months and who i’ll probably never see again.
as of now, i still do miss him. i still had camp dreams. i literally had one last night, where i saw shai and was trying to call out to him, but he didn’t hear me. i still do ‘talk’ to him, but it’s not like i think i’m actually speaking to him. but heck, if it’s comforting to me, there’s no reason not to.
but really, shai seems more like a figment of my imagination now. it’s been a year since i’ve last seen him. was he ever real?
i would draw him sometimes, imagine what it’d be like to talk to him again. how i wish i could talk to him again.
there are so many silly little things i remember about shai - his poofy hair, his aviator sunglasses, how his fanny pack had writing on it in red sharpie and had multiple sunscreens in it, how he almost got hit by a cookie...
shai is the nicest person i’ve ever known, and it’s a shame that i’ll probably never see him again. he’s the kind of person i want to be - i want to be able to understand people and cheer them up when they’re upset. i want to have poofy hair and call people ‘bud’ unironically...
oh to be you, shai...
(oh wait, i know he exists because apparently you can find his channel on youtube and his pfp is his face... the only thing on it is one comment saying “thanks for subscribing” lmao :’])
if any of you know who i’m talking about, or think you do, please tell me!! :’0
thanks broskis *sob*

ok i totally understand why you'd be bothered about the flag stuff but in light of Israel literally being an apartheid state rn and committing genocide on the Palestinian people, would u not agree that the star of david could be interpreted as support of Israel?? it's unfortunate but true.
Complicated and valid question!
So, first off, I gotta make one thing clear:
While I am Jewish, I am also an American by birth and have never been to Israel.
I try and stay as educated as possible but I definitely don’t know as much as someone who is Israeli or Palestinian about all the details. I know more than the average American and I have a million problems with Netanyahu plus numerous others. I just want to get that out of the way so it’s clear I have no agenda of defending Israel or Netanyahu’s regime.
Okay, so, to the question about Stars of Davids on rainbow flags being banned at the Dyke Marches in 2017:
First off, the same flag had been flown by Laurel Gauer for over a decade in the Dyke Marches. Only in 2017 she says she was verbally harassed by other marchers and then told to leave by the organizers. The Dyke March said in a social media post: “This decision was made after [the expelled marchers] repeatedly expressed support for Zionism during conversations with Dyke March Collective members.”
Here’s the issue with that: Zionism is a nuanced thing. It means a desire to “re-establish a Jewish homeland in the territory defined as the historic Land of Israel.” It does not mean you support only Jews living in that territory or being citizens. There are many Zionists who believe in a two-state solution as well as an independent Palestine. Zionists like, you guessed it, Laurel Grauer. The woman kicked out of the Dyke March who is openly for both the two-state solution and an independent Palestine. (source)
Now, let’s take a step back.
Was her flag even a Zionist symbol?
Not really, no. The Star of David really just means “I am Jewish and proud of my identity.” Literally. That’s it. It has been used by Zionist movements and groups and Israel but it was also used by the Nazis to identify all Jews whether they cared about Israel or not and the reclaiming of wearing that symbol pridefully is super important to the Jewish community. We had to hide our Jewish symbols for so long, it’s huge that we feel safe to show them. The Star of David is everywhere and is independent of Zionism. It’d be like saying all maple leaves are signs of support for Justin Trudeau. It’s just not true or even practical.
Is the confusion understandable?
Eh, somewhat but only if you have literally never met a Jew, seen a holocaust film, or tried to educate yourself on the subject.
Ultimately it’s the same kind of argument as “well, there are Islamic terrorists so wearing a hijab makes people uncomfortable!” One person’s misinformation is not grounds for erasure.
Now, finally, and I mean this with the utmost of respect:
Stop asking every Jew what they think about Israel.
You know why I know as much about Israel as I do? Because I constantly am made into the sole resource for random non-Jews who decide googling is too hard. You know where I get a lot of my info? Google. Jews aren’t born with this innate knowledge of Israel anymore than African-Americans are born rapping. You know that scene in Sorry to Bother You where a bunch of white people expect Cassius to rap for them just because he’s black even though he has no clue how to? It’s like that.
Again, I hope my answer was helpful and came across informatively and didn’t seem condescending (because lectures often do via text) and hopefully everybody learns something! :)

Bible Verses Violated By The Republican Party
Please note this article is not another case of a Democrat insulting the Republican party and their religious members.; I dont like either political party and Ive lost hope in the current political system until major changes are made.
While Ive lost most; interest in national politics,; some things still catch my eye. But what bothers me the most, and always gets my attention, is when a politician campaigns on a the premise that their allegiance to their God makes them a better person than the other candidate. Fast forward a few months after their election and there they are obstructing ethical legislation; for their constituents only to make their donors happy.
If a politicians; adherence to the Bible is what makes them a good person and good elected official, what do they become when they no longer adhere to the Bible?
You can understand why I feel my arguments made here are sound: The voting and campaign records of Congress are widely-available public records, and since 7 out of the 10 Bible verses I used are from either Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, meaning that 70% of this is literally the Gospel truth

James : 19 Niv: Everyone Should Be Quick To Listen Slow To Speak And Slow To Become Angry
Well THAT’S a big red flag if I ever saw one. Any of the above points show that Donald Trump does not have a reasonable filter. Whatever comes to mind comes straight out of his mouth, especially when he gets angry. If our president acts out in anger, we are going to have a lot of issues on our hands. Can you imagine how he would converse with other world leaders? What would he do if they insulted our government, or heaven forbid, Trump’s hand size? How would he react to negative criticism from countries we very much need to remain on good terms with? Not only is this dangerous, it also gives more reason for people not to respect America. It would say a lot about us if our leader had the same temperament as a two-year old in a time out. A true God following leader would participate in rational discussion, in which all sides are heard and acknowledged.
I’m not trying to tell anybody that Hilary is the Christian candidate we’re looking for. In fact, I don’t even believe we need a Christian candidate at all. This is America, where anybody of any race or religion can do the job. What I am trying to say, is that if you think Donald Trump is your closest bet to having a Christian in office, you’re making the wrong choice.
Your choice matters. Choose wisely.

Gop Lawmaker: The Bible Says If A Man Will Not Work He Shall Not Eat
This storys headline;has been corrected. A quote from Rep. Jodey Arringtons remarks at a congressional hearing has also been added.
One lawmaker is citing a godly reference to; justify changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program: Rep. Jodey Arrington recently quoted the New Testament to question the strength of current work requirements.
The biblical passage, 2 Thessalonians 3-10, was a rebuttal to one of the hearings expert witnesses, a representative of the Jewish anti-hunger group MAZON. It is also a familiar refrain to anyone who has watched past debates about SNAP.
House Republicans have historically cited the verse if a man will not work, he shall not eat as justification for cutting some adults SNAP benefits. Arrington referenced the verse in a discussion;about increasing the work requirements for unemployed adults on the food stamp program. But critics say that;advances;a pernicious myth about the unemployed who receive SNAP.
The verse in question applies specifically to people who can work or otherwise contribute to society but choose not to, said theologians from several denominations who spoke to The Post. There is a perception, among some voters and lawmakers, that many adult SNAP recipients are exactly this sort of freeloader.

James : 26 Esv: If Anyone Thinks He Is Religious And Does Not Bridle His Tongue But Deceives His Heart This Person’s Religion Is Worthless
Wow. That was blunt. I commonly hear people say that they like Donald Trump because, “He speaks his mind.” There is a monumental difference between speaking your mind, and throwing words about without caution. The things that Donald Trump has used his platform to say should not only shock you; they should offend you. His words are rash, prejudiced, and hurtful. You don’t believe me? Here are some examples:
“You know, it really doesn’t matter what the media write as long as you’ve got a young, and beautiful, piece of a**.”
“My fingers are long and beautiful, as, it has well been documented, are various other parts of my body.”
Now I don’t know about you, but this doesn’t sound like the kind of man who has proper control over his tongue to me. Words are some of the greatest indicators of who we are. The president of our country should be able to possess certain qualities, such as engaging in foreign affairs without flying off the handle. Not only is this concerning to our national security, it is also a warning sign of poor character.

Great article Jack,Sure a lot of good points you brought up. A lot to ponder as an election grows near.
It seems like the people who get elected reflect the sentiment of the nation. If we are concerned with the economy, we vote for the people we think will fix it. If we are concerned with moral issues, we vote for those we think care about what we care about.
This may also be a way in which God judges, or blesses, a nation. As the individuals of a nation move further from God, they elect representatives that are also further from God. These representatives are then naturally going to be motivated by something other than God and His love. Therefore, the nation suffers.
On the other hand, as the individuals of a nation move closer to God and elect godly representatives, these representatives seek Gods will for themselves and the country. The nation is blessed.
Thanks again for a wonderful, thought-provoking article.
Yours in Christ,
Friendship Is The Goal Of The Gospel
What does the Bible say about voting in 2020?
Christians rightly think about salvation as forgiveness of sins and eternal life. But it is more than this. Jesus gives all who trust him the privilege of being his friends . And what is eternal life, after all? According to Jesus, this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent . He rescued us to forge an intimate relationship with the triune God . God forgives us that we might share in his triune fellowship of love forever.;
In the new creation we will enjoy true friendship with all other believers. Our future is a world of friendship.

Matthew : 28 Esv: But I Say To You That Everyone Who Looks At A Woman With Lustful Intent Has Already Committed Adultery With Her In His Heart
Now, I’m not trying to single out Donald Trump for having completely natural biological urges. All of humankind has fallen prey to the allure of lust. However, to battle with that in one’s heart and to voice it out loud to others are two completely different things.
The LORD calls men to honor and protect women. Women are handcrafted by God, and they are to be respected. Donald Trump has been quoted saying things that go directly against this God-given duty:
“Grab them by the the p*ssy.”
If that wasn’t vulgar enough for you, here’s a list of adjectives he has publicly used to describe women: Fat. Dog. Pig. Slob. Disgusting animal.
I don’t know what it’s going to take for this country to start valuing women properly, but having this guy in charge isn’t going to do it. As a woman, you should be concerned that a candidate for president is getting away with talking about your demographic like that. As a man, you should be standing up for the women in your life by saying that this is NOT okay! Young girls in this world should not grow up thinking that those words are okay because the President of the United States says them. If we elect this man, that will be the standard our girls will have for the men in their lives.
Exercising Our Civic Responsibility: What The Bible Says About Voting
Before we look at what the Bible says about voting, let us look at how our individual votes count.
Song of Solomon 2:15 says, Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes. Foxes sometimes, in search of food, would enter into the grape orchards and devour the grapes and spoil the crop. However, the little foxes were too small to reach the grape bunches so they would chew on the vines and it would kill the whole vine. Instead of the farmer just losing his crop, he would lose his vine which was more disastrous. Spiritually some things we do or allow that we might think are little or insignificant can also be disastrous for us.
Listed below are some of the little foxes that generally keep us from our civic responsibilities, in the area of voting. The devil uses these lies and others so that he can keep godly men and women away from the polls and get the candidates of his choice elected. If we do nothing, it makes it easy for the enemy to help those who could become the wrong leadership for our nation.
My one vote doesnt count anyway.
Im disillusioned by the whole political process.
Im already too busy to take the time to cast an informed vote, so I just dont vote at all.
Politics are corrupt anyway and as a Christian I dont want to be involved.

Achieving Racial Justice And Equity
The Bible is very clear that God does not show favoritism, and neither should his followers. So, there is no place for racism in the church or in America. The Democratic Party is absolutely just in standing strong against racism in America.;
Now, personally I think that some of the Democrats policies for eliminating racism are not biblical at all. But the fact still remains: The basic policy position is biblically just.
As the election approaches, remember: As Christians we are called to lead people to Christ, not to an elephant or a donkey. Dont allow your politics to sabotage your witness to unbelievers or your fellowship with believers.;
Our loyalty must be to Christ. So, do some research, and vote in line with the heart of Christ. Lets do our best to vote for right and just leaders, and to pray for righteousness and justice in the hearts of those who are elected.

Talk of God has been brought into and out of national politics throughout American history, with various partisan and non-partisan causes, but rarely in our history has any political group weaponized faith for political goals as comprehensively as todays Republican Party. Although the name of God has been used as a rallying cry for Republicans for decades, the party that claims to support Christian values has developed a twisted ideology where the mere mention of God has become a license for injustice. Consequently, his name is being thrown out in vain by Republicans who seek to avoid being held responsible for their actions, even when those actions go directly against the Scripture.
The contradictory nature of devotional statements made by GOP;members;was put on full display in a recent scandal in Congress,;when Rep.;Ted;Yoho, R-Florida,;was forced to resign from a Christian organizations;board after publicly exhibiting a behavior profoundly opposite to the values he claimed to stand for.

Christians Cannot Serve Both God And The Gop
The Christian right is the backbone of the Republican Party. Christians of all stripes from Catholics to Protestants and evangelicals consistently vote Republican. The core tenets of the modern Republican Party, however, are at stark odds with biblical scripture.
Over the last four decades, few priorities have consumed the Republican Party more than economic policies that benefit the ultra-wealthy. The Ronald Reagan presidency, in particular, ushered in an era where corporate bottom lines took precedence over fair wages for American workers. The rise of the Reagan-Republican ethos, which preaches the elevation of over virtually all other considerations, directly influenced of American jobs to countries with vast pools of cheap labor. Ditto for union-busting and the adoption of job-killing automation in pursuit of maximum profit.
These factors, unsurprisingly, the American middle class. Moreover, Presidents Reagan, George W. Bush and Donald Trump all pursued radical tax policies that overwhelmingly; if not solely; benefitted a small group of exceptionally wealthy Americans at the expense of the working and middle classes.
Republican policies favoring the ultra-affluent, however, stand in stark contrast with biblical scripture. The Bibles condemnations of the wealthy and the accumulation of riches leave zero room for ambiguity.
In short, followers of Christ must choose between God and money.
Property was sold and the proceeds distributed to anyone who had need.

UN List of Companies Exploiting Occupation of Palestine Hides Key Profiteers
The United States and Israel not only delayed the UN's list of companies exploiting Palestinian occupation for three years, but omitted the most egregious profiteers, concealing activity that could be a war crime under the Geneva Conventions.
— March 12, 2020 | therealnews.com | Dr. Norman Gary Finkelstein
Story Transcript
Marc Steiner: Welcome to The Real News. I’m Marc Steiner. Good to have you with us.
In February, the United Nations Human Rights Committee published a list of 112 companies that profit from the Israeli occupation on Palestinian and Syrian land. Now the colonization of occupied territory, and the exploitation of property and people in that territory, is prohibited by the 1949 Fourth Geneva Convention. It’s interesting to note that that convention was prompted, these international rules were prompted, because of the Nazi theft and exploitation of Jewish land and property, in large part. The companies listed by the UN are all involved in activity benefiting from this illegal occupation and colonization of Palestinian land. That makes them complicit in a war crime. What will all that mean? We’re going to talk about.
The original list of companies was researched and completed three years ago, but it wasn’t published because of pressure from the United States and Israel to prevent the UN from releasing the original findings and data. Now the list has finally been published, but many companies known for their role in assisting the occupation, and destroying and exploiting Palestinian land, are missing from this list. Rupert Colville is a spokesperson for the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and tried to understate the importance of this list. Let’s have a listen.Rupert Colville: We’re fully aware of the sensitivity of this report for people on all sides of the debate and for of course, the companies themselves, and for this reason, we’ve taken particular care not to go beyond the remit set down for us by the Human Rights Council. It’s important to note that it is not, as some claim, a blacklist, nor does it qualify any company’s activities as illegal.Marc Steiner: As we verge on the abyss of a new Israeli government that is hell bent on officially annexing Palestinian land into Israel, this becomes more than just a list to be boycotted and protested, and we’re joined by Real News correspondent Shir Hever, who is based in Heidelberg, Germany. His latest book is The Privatization of Israeli Security, published by Pluto Press. And Shir good to see you here as a guest.
Shir Hever: Thank you Marc.
Marc Steiner: So let’s talk a bit about this original list. The original list was suppressed by Israel and US, and they tried to stop it’s publication. Now it’s been published, but much revised. So what do we know about the struggle around the publication of this list and about why and who was left off?
Shir Hever: Well, I was a little bit involved in compiling that list among many, many other activists in Israel and Palestine and elsewhere. There’s already organizations that are creating databases like this. Most notable of them is Who Profits and which belongs to the Coalition of Women for Peace, and anyone can just go and browse their website and see more, see hundreds of companies listed there. So the UN originally had a list of 400 companies. The thing is that whenever they want to put on the agenda of the Human Rights Committee, that they want to talk about their findings and present them and effectively publish their list, Israel and the U S send their delegates to try to sabotage this and prevent it from being published. And even though both Israel and the United States have actually, stepped down from the Human Rights Commission of the United Nations, they still continue to wield influence and prevent that list from being, or prevented that list from being published until now.
So now we only have 112 companies on the list. The reason that so few companies stayed on the list is because the UN, was very tryinG to play it as safe as possible. They were terrified of repression by the United States and Israel. So what they did is they first of all, only put companies on the list where they were absolutely sure and had all the information on that company, and that they could cross reference it and prove it. But then they talked to the companies and asked them, “Do you have anything to say? If you say that you are no longer active in the illegally occupied colonies or in the occupied West Bank of Gaza, then we’re going to just take you out without checking.”So of course hundreds of companies and just used that option and said, “Oh well, we’ve stopped.”, regardless of whether they have or haven’t. And so they were taken off the list and now we only have 112.
Marc Steiner: But so now companies like Airbnb and booking.com are there because they’re promoting accommodation in settlements across the West Bank. And there’s groups in there like Alstom and Motorola because they’re helping build the infrastructure of the occupation. But, and many of the companies on this list are not international companies. They’re actually Israeli companies. And so, you just described what just happened, but then there are groups like Heidelberg Cement and Caterpillar, which were left off the list and Heidelberg Cement in a recent article that I read was part and parcel of taking apart one village entirely, and doing this major excavation, Caterpillar tearing down homes. So how did they get left off the list?
youtube
Shir Hever: Right. Well, I think the reason that of the 112 companies that are still on the list, the majority of them are actually Israeli companies, is because the Israeli companies as a rule didn’t bother to answer the Human Rights Committee. And they just didn’t bother to write them back and say, “No, we’re no longer active.” Maybe because they knew it’s going to sound ridiculous if they say they’re no longer active when they still have their address listed in illegal colonies. So they stay on the list. And that creates, I think, a very strong bias because in fact, if you go, if you travel in the West Bank and you look around you, you will see Caterpillar bulldozers everywhere, you will see in East, Occupied East Jerusalem, the tram built by Alstom, you will see a lot of imported machinery and materials from international companies that are fully aware that they’re supporting occupation.
But for these companies, it’s very easy to say, “We have nothing to do with that.”
Marc Steiner: But, I’m sorry, go ahead.
Shir Hever: But getting to Heidelberg Cement, I actually live in Heidelberg. I’ve been to their stock holder meeting once, and it’s a very interesting story. Heidelberg cement is a company that keeps insisting that they’re on their way out, and they’re going to sell their illegal quarries in the West Bank and they’re going to stop providing cement and other materials to the Israeli colonies. But Electronic Intifada, the website has uncovered A document in Hebrew, which I read, that shows that they have extended their license for mining natural resources in the West bank by another year, meaning that they are intended to keep on doing that. So this is very surprising that they are not on the list, actually. We have absolute proof of that. This is a company that is pillaging Palestinian property, the natural resources of Palestine, and pays taxes to the Israeli occupier instead of to the people who actually live on that land.
Marc Steiner: So it was interesting to me, when you take this particular story, of Heidelberg Cement, I think it was a mini story, it was this fascinating article about a Palestinian village, Al Zawia, where they have this huge, open mine pit going on, Heidelberg is running. And so it begs a lot of questions. A, they’re expanding the work, not narrowing the work. There are many other companies involved who are not on these lists doing similar work around in the occupied territories. So, and then you have this new Israeli government coming in, as I said earlier, that is hell bent on annexation. So, so to me, this can be complicates the story in many ways. And [inaudible 00:07:43] what the response is, because you are talking about a companies that are just literally taking away the land, and if they become part of Israel, it changes the nature of what can really happen. So how do you see this playing out? I mean I know BDS is calling for a boycott, but in some ways this might be beyond that and maybe I’m wrong, but talk about that.
Shir Hever: Well, officially the UN is not going as far as calling for a boycott. They even don’t dare to write on the list that what the company’s doing is illegal. They’re even, they’re trembling in fear, and they’re not even writing this very simple fact. So they’re just saying, “This is a list for your information.” Of course, nobody can really see any kind of use for that list except in order to organize boycott, divestment and sanctions against these particular companies. So, of course it has something to do with the BDS movement. The BDS movement is the movement that has now the responsibility to take that list and make use of it. So now it’s up to people, for example, myself living in Heidelberg, to protest against Heidelberg Cement and what this company is doing.
And it is going to play out absolutely as an international action to make these companies accountable for corporate accountability in war crimes. The UN has already published lists like this for Myanmar and for the DRC. And in both cases they were not so timid about writing these are companies doing illegal things and these companies maybe should be put on a black list rather than just mentioned for the information value.
In the case of Israel, Palestine, there is a lot more pressure and to keep the UN quiet, but the activists are not going to keep quiet. And I think the companies should be aware that there’s going to be a heavy economic price to pay when these companies become the pariahs, the companies that cross a red line, violate international law. Some companies have already been severely burned, like Veolia the French infrastructure company that lost billions of dollars worth of contract all around the world because of their involvement in illegal activity in Occupied East Jerusalem. And now these companies, on that list is 112 companies are facing a similar fate. And I think beyond that we have other companies that didn’t get to the list like for example, Heidelberg Cement that are also going to be held accountable.
Marc Steiner: So as we close this out Shir, one quick question here. A sidebar interested me about this. When I read about Heidelberg’s, well Heidelberg said about their work in certain villages in the West Bank and in Palestine. And when I read about General Mills’ statement which said, “Look, we hire Israeli and Palestinian workers at the same rate, for the same pay, the same benefits.”, the same thing Heidelberg said, and it reminded me of what goes on in many indigenous reservations and territories in the United States like Peabody Coal on the Navajo and the Hopi where they are exploiting the land, and a story we’re working on here for Real News, they’re exploiting the land and destroying the land, but at the same time they’re giving Navajo and Hopi men and women work, that’s paying them more than they’ve ever been paid before. The same thing is happening with Heidelberg and General Mills. So how does that fit into the mix? I mean that doesn’t, I mean because that’s also a reality about how people have to survive.
Shir Hever: Right. Thank you for asking that, because I think there is a difference. The difference is that the companies are outright lying. They are not just providing jobs for Palestinians because officially according to the Israeli law, Palestinian workers working in the illegal colonies, working for international or Israeli companies are supposed to receive the same conditions and the same pay as Israeli workers. They are supposed to be protected by Israeli labor laws. The problem is that no employer actually enforces that. And the courts don’t enforce that either, when it gets to the court, and it gets to the court frequently, there is an organization called [inaudible 00:11:57], Workers Hotline, which specializes in representing Palestinian workers in court. And when Palestinians don’t receive the minimum wage, don’t receive health benefits, don’t receive the basic insurance that they’re supposed to receive, then they can go to court. And the court usually, and then the company would argue, “Oh, but you’re actually subject to Jordanian labor laws, not to Israeli labor law.”
And even though the court has repeatedly said this is not acceptable, and the Israeli laws should be in effect, there is no sanction, and the companies can continue to violate again and again, and nothing really happens to them. So that’s a structural problem with the way that Palestinians are treated in these companies. And the amount of money that they have lost because of that over the years is tremendous. Starting from 2008 the Israeli government even imposes a special Palestinian only tax in order to discourage Palestinians from working for Israeli companies. They take a an almost 50% tax on their income in order, and then they give that money to the Palestinian Authority. They give it to the government, so that the workers will not see the money and then they say, “Well, it’s not a real tax because we didn’t take the money for ourselves.” But the result is to try to create a segregated workforce or Jewish only workforce, and to keep Palestinians as second rate workers wherever they go. And unfortunately that is working. That is something that these companies are complicit in when they allow this system to work, and when they agree to pay this racist tax, a Palestinian only tax. But I want to say one last thing about this.
Marc Steiner: Okay.
Shir Hever: Because companies have often said, “If you sanction us, if you boycott us, we will fire the Palestinian workers. We’re providing work for Palestinians, and they need that work. So you’re actually harming Palestinians. Don’t boycott us.” This is an argument that is essentially taking the Palestinian workers hostage. It’s telling about the same workers, if we are human rights activists, we care about international law. We see a company, that is violating their rights and we say, “Oh, but we don’t want to boycott that company because they’re providing jobs for Palestinians.” What we’re actually saying, “Oh, you Palestinians, you don’t know what’s good for you. We know better than you do what is good for you.”
Because even though all labor unions in Palestine support the BDS movement, support the boycott, we’re going to ignore all that and just decide for ourselves what is your interest. It’s an extremely patronizing and racist approach and of course I do not support it.
Marc Steiner: Well, Shir Hever, there’s so much more to talk about here and there’s a larger piece of their story that we have to continue talking about because the annexation and more that could be taking place, and how this fits in, but we’ll be doing that together. Shir Hever, thanks for your work and thanks for joining us once again. Talk to you very soon.
Shir Hever: Thank you Marc.
Marc Steiner: Thank you.
And I’m Marc Steiner here for the Real News Network. I want to thank you all for joining us. Let us know what you think. Take care.
Speaker 4: Thanks a lot for watching. Appreciate it. But do us one more solid favorite. Hit the subscribe button below. You know you want to. Stay up on the videos.

I was recently engaged in debate with a user named apersnicketylemon. The user replied one last time then blocked me so I could not respond. I typed out an entire counter argument before realizing I had been blocked and Tumblr was not allowing me to reblog the post. So, for anybody who was actually following that, here is my final retort. You can find the original debate on my page.
1. Alabama is a deeply red state. For a state made up mostly of conservatives to vote a democrat into office, a significant amount of conservatives in Alabama must have voted democrat. There aren't enough liberals in Alabama for Jones to have won if only a small portion of conservatives voted for him. More conservatives voted democrat than voted republican. This is basic math. You're not stupid.
2. If the people who voted for Moore are right-wing extremists, would you also argue that the students burning their own campuses and punching people in the face in protest when a republican comes to speak at their university are somehow NOT left-wing extremists? There always have been and always will be absurd people in the world. By your logic, people like ANTIFA must also be pulled closer toward the right. Unless you're actually not interested in evening things out at all and that's just an excuse to say it's okay to try and force people of differing opinions to agree with you, which is what I suspect is actually your motivation in saying that.
3. Even the Brookings Institute (which is left-leaning, by the way, and has been bitching about this bill for a while) admitted that 80.4% of Americans will see a tax cut through this bill and only 4.8% will see an increase. The average annual cut will be about $2,140, which is not an insignificant amount of money. 2027 is a long ways away and, I don't know if you noticed yet, but the right wing is going for a full tax reform. We want to lower taxes for everyone, not just the middle class. This bill is only the first step. Give it time.
4. Don't give me that "the system keeps wealthy people in power" bullshit. According to, again, the Brookings Institute, which is, again, left-leaning, there are only three things you have to do to avoid being permanently poor in the United States. You have to graduate high school, you have to hold down a job, and you have to get married before you have babies. That's it. These things are not exactly hard to do. 72% of people born poor who follow this formula will move into the middle class before age 30. There is tremendous income mobility in the U.S. Also, wealthy people don't all necessarily stay wealthy. "The 1%" doesn't refer to an actual group of people. The 1% is a buzzword that actually means very little. People move in and out of the 1% all the time, unless they're Bill Gates. Nobody "stays in power."
5. In what world does a dozen not mean twelve? It literally means twelve.
6. I scoured the internet for 30 minutes after reading your last reply looking for some hard evidence that he stole tax money or accepted gifts from foreign ambassadors. If the best you've got is "they payed to stay at his hotel!!!" then you're seriously reaching. Again, I don't like Trump. He does stupid things. I think having foreign ambassadors stay at Trump Towers and not even having the common courtesy to wave the bill is dumb and rude as shit, but I don't think it should be considered "accepting a gift" and I don't think it calls for impeachment.
7. 21 separate accusations of rape does not mean he is probably a rapist. It means there were millions of Hillary supporters who really, really, really didn't want him to president and thought the world would most definitely explode in 2017 if he won. If I go out onto the street right now, find a hardcore leftist and tell them I'm in favor of the tax bill that just passed, I would be labeled a nazi, among other things. I don't trust any of the shit leftists say when they're willing to label anybody who disagrees with them a literal Hitler supporter.
8. Even if Trump is a rapist, which I highly doubt, I still don't support a rapist, because I don't support Trump (this is like the third time I've said that but whatever.) I don't cheer on people, I cheer on ideas. My goal is to analyze and criticize him, and every other political figure, fairly. I actually criticize Trump more than I agree with him. But when I see people spreading blatant lies about ideas Trump supports for no reason other than the fact that they don't like him, yes, I'm going to make fun of those people. Get out of lockstep with politicians. Start thinking critically about things rather than just agreeing with whatever "your guys" are agreeing with.
9. James Comey is shady as hell (https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailywire.com/news/22353/fbi-confirms-comey-drafted-letter-clinton-ryan-saavedra%3famp). He was also a highly controversial figure to be running the FBI. But like I said, Trump does dumb shit and I think he jumped the gun in firing Comey. I don't think Trump wanted him to stop the investigation because he has something to hide. He's not that smart. I think he's offended almost as easily as SJW's - almost - and the dumbass thought the investigation was an attack on his character or some crap like that.
10. In the 1970's, climate alarmists were screeching about 'global cooling.' (https://www.scribd.com/doc/225798861/Newsweek-s-Global-Cooling-Article-From-April-28-1975) One common talking point for modern climate alarmists is that 97% of scientists believe climate change is man made and an urgent threat. That is patently false. (https://www.wsj.com/articles/joseph-bast-and-roy-spencer-the-myth-of-the-climate-change-97-1401145980?tesla=y) Some global warming alarmists were not able to get the results they wanted, so they tampered with the data. (https://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/dec/3/researcher-says-nasa-hiding-climate-data/ , https://bandlerblog.wordpress.com/2013/02/18/read-this-and-weep-al-gore/ , https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/2011/11/23/climategate-2-0-new-e-mails-rock-the-global-warming-debate/#283a7ba2988d) And finally, the climate just simply hasn't been rising at a very alarming rate (http://www.climatedepot.com/2015/08/06/a-new-record-pause-length-no-global-warming-for-18-years-7-months-temperature-standstill-extends-to-233-months/) Why do leftists have to bring climate change into literally everything?
11. "Well documented by real news sources." Real news sources that are all left-leaning, some of them even wholeheartedly liberal or leftist, but refuse to admit they have any sort of bias which is bullshit because everybody is politically biased. I'm honest enough to admit I have a conservative bias. You obviously have a liberal bias. There's no such thing as a human being who is invested in politics on any level being able to maintain an objective stance. Nobody is objective. Mainstream media sources are subjective and always have been.
12. Okay, so the things Trump has done that I think are actually good: ISIS's territorial holdings are practically nonexistent, the stock market is soaring and has been breaking record highs all year, unemployment statistics have significantly lowered, he decertified the Iran deal, he acknowledged Jerusalem as Israel's capital (which was always true but now it's being acknowledged), he repealed the individual mandate which has by and large been the most hated aspect of Obamacare, and I would consider the tax bill that just passed to be a win since it's the first step in achieving a full tax reform.
13. Trump has done significantly more bad things than good (for the fourth and final time, I don't support him). But to say he's pure evil and has done no good for this country at all is a blatant lie. Every president does both good and bad things and to pretend that's not the case is nonsensical. In this case the bad outweighs the good. That does not mean the good should all be ignored. Again, I rally for ideas, policies, and individual acts. I don't rally for specific people, because to rally for a person is to rally for the bad as well as the good and I refuse to fall into such a cultish thought process. It's called thinking for yourself. You should try it, it's very freeing.
14. A large number of conservatives don't actually fail to understand freedom of speech, you just happen to be full of fresh, steaming horse shit.
It's just now occurring to me that it was probably a waste of time to link to all those sources when the OP and the OP's cult-y lockstep followers likely won't bother clicking on a single link. But in any case, thank you and goodnight.

I’m Jewish and Anti-Zionist as well and I respect your opinion but does it not bother you that people only act this way with Israelis? There is literally no other country where fans would be getting called ugly and racist and people would be demanding violence just because they showed up with a flag. Random citizens of a country aren’t responsible for the actions of their government and no one ever assumes they are except for in the only Jewish country in the world. Harry wrote a whole song about his love for England and no one has ever called that a ‘disgusting display of nationalist allegiance to a racist apartheid state’. You say you wouldn’t wave a US flag but people do or wear it on their clothes or whatever else and literally no one cares. As Jews maybe we shouldn’t condone hatred towards 40% of Jewish people in the world under the guise of social activism?
Okay well I appreciate you, and that the balancing act of being a Jew-- being at risk of anti-semetic violence and prejudice but also benefiting from white privilege-- is a tricky one and there ARE gray areas, for sure! Unfortunately, I disagree with pretty much everything you’ve said here, I am sorry to say. It is true that anti-semites glom onto anti-Israel talk to try to further their agenda, but that is because they are fucking nazis and that is not my responsibility- nothing I say condones their garbage and we can't just not talk about real issues because someone might twist our words. I also disagree that there is no other country regarded with such venom and think that is a narrative perpetuated by zionists and racists: I think the difference is that Israel is talked about that way by WHITE PEOPLE (and yeah lots of times it is because they're just fucking racist, but so is the 'only Israel is treated this way' narrative). As far as I know the powers that be in Iran still refer to the United States as The Great Satan and burn US flags for propaganda purposes, for example, and I think if you ask people in Africa or LATAM how they feel about various colonial powers you will find similarly hostile reactions to flag waving. You say that people wave or wear US flags and no one cares- but that’s literally just not true. A lot of people in a lot of places care plenty, and in fact US tourists wearing Canadian flags to try to avoid the worldwide hatred of USAmericans is huge thing that very much happens. But by all means, go get barricade in LATAM and wave a US flag in everyone’s face and let me know how that goes! And I completely disagree that random citizens of a country bear no responsibility for their governments actions as well. Our taxes and our silence are what make atrocities possible! Here in the US it can be hard to feel like we are complicit in the actions of a government that we ourselves are also fighting tooth and nail to survive, that also attacks and starves and victimizes us, but unfortunately we still do have a responsibility to resist what is being done in our names (in this case, $158 BILLION US tax dollars to Israel to date and that doesn't even include all the military equipment), or at the bare minimum to speak out against it. And in Israel this is even less theoretical: when they turn 18 every Israeli Jew has to choose to either actively resist and refuse military service or to literally join the army and personally participate in the genocide of the Palestinian people. These fans, who according to another anon have told people at shows that “you don’t understand we were just reclaiming our land” and have said they take pride in their flag, have picked a side, and it is the side of murder and colonization. I don’t hate every citizen of Israel simply for where they were born any more than I hate every US citizen; but I do judge and personally do not want anything to do with those who choose to support their government, in both places. This is not ‘the guise of social activism’: it is choosing to be actively anti-racist rather than silent and therefore complicit. As for the rest, I don’t think anyone has considered LOML a nationalistic anthem, but while its true that most people don’t care some people most certainly DO complain about Harry waving flags of any countries, and most especially the UK flag (as opposed to the England one); that in particular because, like the Israeli flag, it touches on colonization that is happening and actively being resisted RIGHT NOW (Scotland and Wales' struggles for independence.)

Arguments are an integral part of life. They make us human. However, sometimes, lines can be crossed. Screaming matches or brawls just happen, especially when alcohol or drugs are involved. If you’re lucky, nobody’s hurt. However, that’s usually not the case. Law enforcement and jail time become realities, and the person you love the most can be seriously hurt. It’s just a scary situation. Thankfully, when you’re embroiled in a spat, you’re only going so far with your quarrel. While you’ll probably apologize the next day for stupid things said, at least you and your friend can make amends. Other people aren’t as lucky, though. Even the dumbest fights can end in horrific catastrophes. From a bag of chips to a can of beer, people have actually fought to death for certain items. Obviously, the outcome is never good. Nobody ever thinks about losing his/her life at the hands of someone else, but the crime happens all of the time. Not only are people getting murdered (one person is reportedly killed every 60 seconds), but they’re dying in vain, quite literally. Their loved ones are left lost, and their deaths can be confusing even for police to understand. Why would a person kill for a $2.00 beer from a gas station, and why would a person kill for a $1.50 Diet Coke? Police are baffled. So are the families and friends of the victims, not to mention the rest of the world. Murder is horrible, but it’s even more so when victims have died for literally nothing.
#1 Transphobia On Deck Unfortunately, the LGBTQIA+ community is at risk every day. They face ungodly realities of violence and, for the transgender community, said violence is common. While nobody should be hurt over their sexuality, identity, nor appearance, the crimes happen all of the time. Unfortunately, even their loved ones are in danger. According to a History and Headlines article, a soldier was brutally beaten to death. Why? He was in love with “a transgender showgirl.” He was constantly harassed, but one soldier took his hatred too far. He ended up killing him in 1999 only because of his insecurity and heterosexism.
#2 A Facebook Friend Gone Wrong Your Facebook friends, for the most part, would be like your acquaintances in real life. Maybe you met them briefly in class, or maybe you talked to them at a party. Regardless of the reason why, they’re now able to see your Facebook feed. However, what would happen if you unfriended those individuals? You’d think nothing. Well, couple Billie and Billy unfriended Jenelle Potter from their own account, and they got much more than radio silence. Potter instead asked for help from her father and brother. She wanted them to kill the couple, and they actually did. They shot Billie and Billy dead.
#3 This Story Stinks Farting in public is embarrassing, but did you know that it’s also dangerous? In 2012, a 16-year-old girl named Shaakira Dorsey got into a fight with another girl from her neighborhood. They were enmeshed in an intense battle because of a fart. According to an online source, “Dorsey made fun of the girl for farting,” so the girl beat her to death. Their altercation, unfortunately, was unlike any other. Dorsey lost her life, and people can say that they were witnesses to such a tragedy. Not only were children and grownups watching, but her own stepfather watched too. The entire situation just smells rotten.
#4 The Other Kennedy Assassination Everybody knows about John F. Kennedy’s assassination, but not everybody knows about his brother’s assassination. On June 6, 1968, Robert F. Kennedy was killed by Sirhan Sirhan, a Jordanian man who worked in the United States as a farmhand. While he didn’t kill Kennedy over chips or a channel, his reasoning was still equally messed up. His motive was purely political. The Christian was upset that Kennedy supported Israel, so he shot the politician. While his move was disturbing, it was also shocking. After all, Christians are usually supportive of an area like Israel, so Sirhan’s dumb decision made him look like even more of a dunce. What a shame!
#5 The Tip Jar’s Not Complementary Remember that you can’t steal money from a tip jar. The $5.39 is just not worth losing your life. However, people will still try to get away with their less-than-stealthy stealing skills. Just look at Texan Benito Pantoja. He was only 24 years old when he was fatally shot. Apparently, he tried to steal money from a food truck, which only left him with a bullet to his back. “The owner of Tacos Del Indio, parked near the Ship Channel, ran him down as he tried to escape with the cash, fired into the getaway car and hit Pantoja in the back,” an article states. The thief literally lost his life over $20 in stolen tip money. Who knew taco pop-up shops could be so ruthless?
#6 A Junk Food Junkie People do crazy things when they’re high, especially when they’re on a sugar high. A man named Dan White left his white-collar career, but not by choice. He was replaced by Harvey Milk, which led White down a destructive path. He eventually shot and killed Milk and San Francisco’s Mayor, George Moscone. Instead of mental illness, White blamed his actions on his diet. “White used the excuse that his judgment and thinking were adversely affected by junk food, called by the press ‘the Twinkie defense,’” a report states. His excuse was crazy, but what was even crazier was the jury’s response. He only served 5 years in prison.
#7 ‘Imagine’ John Lennon’s Killer John Lennon, the main man of the revolutionary band The Beatles, was killed in the early days of December 1980. His killer, Mark Chapman, said he shot the “Imagine” singer four different times because Lennon annoyed him. Chapman could be best described as a Christian zealot, a man who would do anything in the name of Jesus. He’d even murder for his religion, which is exactly what he did. Chapman found Lennon to be a hypocrite, and he was extremely angry at the musical genius. “Chapman was irritated by Lennon singing about ‘Imagine no possessions’ when Lennon was rich and had many possessions,” a History and Headlines article states. To this day, Chapman’s still in prison. He’ll probably die in there.
#8 Cheetos Is Truly ‘Dangerously Cheesy’ You and your friend haven’t bonded if you guys have never fought over food. Between arguing over what restaurant to pick, takeout to order, or bill to pay, y’all just love food–especially junk food. Sometimes, you’re loving Ho-Hos more than your friend, which is totally okay. However, when you’re killing your friend for Ho-Hos, then you’ve definitely gone too far. However, in St. Louis, Missouri, a man named David Scott murdered another homeless man, Roger Wilkes, for his Cheetos. Wilkes was stabbed for a bag of chips, which brings new meaning to the brand’s slogan, “It ain’t easy being cheesy.”
#9 Buy Your Own Beer Beer has any American’s heart, which is probably why alcohol addiction is so common in the United States. While it’s no secret that people can be overdosed on alcohol, people can also die from alcohol in other ways. According to Houston Press, one man got shot over cases of beer. “When he allegedly grabbed a 12-pack of Bud Light and walked out, the clerk grabbed his gun and followed,” the article states. The thief was then shot. As cops arrived on the scene, the convenient store’s employees gave away more information. Apparently, the deceased man would steal a 12-pack and a 20-pack of beer a day. His addiction got the best of him, and it got the best of the workers too.
#10 A Killer Party Thanks to Raul Rodriguez, one party turned into a bloodbath. His neighbor was hosting a loud lively party, which really bothered Rodriguez. In fact, the man was so disturbed that he grabbed both his gun and camcorder. He was going to shoot the attendees, and he was going to document the deaths. “He had lured several people outside with a flashlight and shot and killed one 36-year-old man, wounding two others. He recorded the whole thing,” a newspaper states. He wanted evidence, so when the cops showed up, he’d have proof of his distress. His plan didn’t go quite the way he wanted it to turn out. He was sentenced to 40 years behind bars.
#11 Fanatic Kills Man Of Little Faith When the Bible’s passage “O ye of little faith” is read, the words “shall be killed” don’t follow. Justin Green would say differently. According to him, he shot a man named Jose Ramirez because he lacked faith in God. Not only did Green kill him, but Green’s friend also used his credit card to buy pizza. However, what makes this story even worse is how many years Green avoided the police. Ramirez was buried five years before his murderer was ever caught, which is scarier than Green and his friend eating a slice of Papa John’s. For all the police know, Green could’ve shot and killed more “non-believers” or anyone else he disliked.
#12 Cold Eggs And Ham There’s nothing better than a home-cooked breakfast. However, cold breakfast is enough to trigger your gag reflex, which is probably why a man named Stanley Neace shot his wife, her daughter, and their neighbors. “Neace got a little agitated when his wife Sandra served him a plate of scrambled eggs that had gone cold,” a Crave article states. Obviously, the man had a few screws loose, not to mention an anger problem. No matter how poorly breakfast was made, who in their right mind would actually shoot and kill the people they (supposedly) love the most? Nobody. Well, except for Neace. Before police arrived at the trailer park, Neace had shot himself.
#13 A Murderous Crapshoot Honestly, there’s nothing worse than using the bathroom without toilet paper nearby, especially when you know your roommate was too lazy to replace the roll. Franklin Paul Crow knows the pain from firsthand experience. His friend, Kenneth Matthews, forgot to leave toilet paper in the bathroom, so Crow had nothing to wipe himself with. However, unlike most people, Crow released his anger by murdering Matthews. “Incensed by having to walk around poopy, Crow grabbed a sledgehammer and bludgeoned Matthews to death, finishing the job with a claw hammer,” Crave states. The two men were already having problems with each other, so Matthews’ inconsiderateness was what pushed Crow over the edge. He was definitely pissed off.
#14 Channeling Their Anger It’s painful sharing a television with your entire family. David Makoeya, a 61-year-old South African, would tell you the same thing. He and his wife, son, and daughter were watching television together. They were watching a religious program on air, but Makoeya wanted to watch a soccer game instead. He changed the channel, and by the way the rest of his family acted, you would’ve thought he killed a small village. His wife, son, and daughter repeatedly “stabbed him to death.” He was beaten by his loved ones over a television. The entire story’s hard to fathom. However, at least Makoeya no longer has to deal with his barbaric family. Now, he can watch soccer matches to his heart’s content…somewhere else.
#15 Losing The Mom-Of-The-Year Award No matter how much fun Facebook games can be, play at your own risk. If you’re anything like Alexandra Tobias, you’ll value virtual reality over your family, friends, and children. In 2010, the mother was growing her crops on the outdated game FarmVille, an online world where Facebook users can grow agriculture and raise livestock. When her infant Dylan kept crying, Tobias snapped. She was so enraged that she shook her baby countless times. “She shook him to death, taking a break in the middle of her horrific act to have a cigarette,” Crave concludes. No matter how many awards Tobias achieved in the game, she lost the (supposedly) most important award of her life—motherhood. Games can be one hell of a drug.
