Hi! Do you know a good guide about how to make stuff with aquatic snail shells? I have a jewellery making kit (and some other stuff), a bunch of leftover ramshorn shells and determination.
Hi! apologies, I dont get many questions on my acount so I don't know how long this has been in my ask box for. Oops.
To answer I didn’t use a guide I just sort of winged it, so I wouldnt know where to find one. What I can do is give you a run down on what I did.
First I would suggest if they are thick enough, try carefully using a jewellery drill on them to make some small holes near the end of the shells. Then fit your jump rings and earring hooks through the new hole.
Unfortunately the ones I posted on here were much too thin and broke when trying the drill. I ended up going for a much more hodgepodge method, first I cut length of chain a bit longer than I needed, (you can buy big rolls of differently gauged chain online, think I got my from ebay) then I lowered the extra into the shells and filled them with hot glue. I held the chain straight while it dried (if the chain is still a bit long you can adjust by cutting the top to preferred length) I then attached a jump ring and earring hooks.
Hope this helps, thanks for the question.

Luxury Hair Accessories For Girls
There are a million different kinds of girls hair accessories on the market and it's hard to figure out which kind will work best for your little girl, not to mention, unless you make them yourself, who really knows what the heck the difference is between the different clips - alligator, French barrette, snap clips, huh?! Well, depending on what you want to do with them, there are definitely some that will work better than others for what you need so it's a good idea to have an idea of what each type of hair accessory is meant for so you can make the best choice.
 The most commonly used girls hair accessory is the alligator clip. The reason it's called the alligator clip is because it looks just like an alligator's mouth. You press one end and it opens up. They are usually made of metal and come in a range of sizes, typically 1-1/4" to 2". They are very easy to put in so pretty much hassle free for moms. Many are made with 'no-slip grips' so they shouldn't fall out of even fine hair and are harder for your little one to get out. You can get these clips in a simple and elegant style, made just with ribbon, or frilly and fancy with bows. They work in all types of hair and are great for keeping hair out your little girl's face, especially if she's growing out her bangs!

 Another kind of clip is called the snap clip. This just basically snaps in place. You will find a lot of baby and girls' hair accessories are made with the snap clip. I find these are harder to get in because they don't open up nearly as wide as the alligator clips, but they are perfect for the babies with just peach fuzz or less than 1 inch of hair. You can certainly get them in bigger sizes (they typically range from 1" to 4") for for bigger kids too, but they've never been my favorite type of clip for anything other than accessorizing. They are lots though that are super cute with bows and things, but they're really meant more for adding to a cute hairstyle than to actually hold hair back.
 The next kind of popular girls hair accessory is the barrette, sometimes called French barrette. These are especially good for the older girls with more hair. Barrettes are different than alligator clips because they close at both ends and actually snap together. This holds a secure section of hair, even up to the amount of a a pony tail. They come in a range of sizes as well. They are great for thick hair and for holding a more defined section of hair.
 Another type of clip is the jaw clip. These come in a large variety of sizes, from tiny, 'mini' jaw clips that can go even in young toddler's hair to big clips that moms can use instead of wearing a pony. These are great to take whole sections of hair and keep it out of the way or to just clip back either side or both. The little minis are great even for moms just to pull back a narrow section on each side for a trendy, casual look.
 Beyond the clips and barrettes there's of course the headbands and elastics. I'm sure you already know what these are! One thing you may not know is that headbands are also great for those little babies with barely-there hair if you don't want to go the clip route. You can get fabric or crocheted headbands with pretty flowers on them and they go around the head front-to-back rather than the usual way. You may especially want to try this if you're tired of hearing "what a cute boy you have" over and over again! We've come a long way from when my mother would tape a bow on my bald head, not a pretty bow mind you, but one of those ones that you use on presents!
 For the older girls headbands are meant to go on top of the head of course, and either end at the ears if it's a hard plastic one, or go all the way around the head if it's fabric. These are probably the easiest route for the older girl trying to grow out her bangs!
 So there you have it. Now you're all set to go shopping for the perfect girls hair accessories! Have fun!

A Tiny Piece of Heaven
The morning of her birthday, Pedro woke up startled by a chirping noise. When he opened his eyes, he saw a tiny songbird fluttering its wings right next to him. His mouth formed a little 'o'. It must have flown through his open window and it clamped its claws around his bedpost right beside his head, jumping up and down and singing to him.
Pedro realised he had slept turned onto the foot side of his hotel bed with a piece of paper glued to his cheek. He slowly began raising his upper body from the mattress so he wouldn't scare off the bird. He observed it just tilting its tiny head and looking at him with those black button eyes.
Pedro peeled the piece of paper off his beard and tried focusing on the tiny bird without the help of his glasses. How extraordinary, he couldn't believe this was happening. Had he turned into some kind of Disney prince or something?
It jumped up and down, singing beautifully and he smiled as he realised it reminded him of a different kind of soprano, he was sometimes lucky enough to hear.
His voice sounded rough and dry; unlike the sound a Disney prince would have made in this kind of situation. "Hello, little fella." he greeted the songbird and it chirped in return. "Oh, yeah. A good morning, indeed." he smiled.
When it finally flew out the same way it came in, he looked around his room in a confused and still sleepy state as he recalled the night before. It looked like a bunch of kindergartners had had a crafting party in his room last night. But it had been just him who had made a last-minute decision that he could not just give Nini nothing for her birthday. How could he?
She said she didn't want any gifts and she didn't want anyone to make a great fuss about her birthday. Yet he hadn't listened and asked everyone if they wanted to join a surprise party tonight. He had been too excited yesterday after work and almost told her but even though she might be expecting some kind of disobedience, she could still be pleasantly surprised, or at least, pranked. He even ordered a piñata.
Pedro felt like she deserved all the gifts in the world and so he had woken up earlier last night to find himself anxious about not being able to give her anything at all. He had spend days and weeks prior to this moment, thinking about what an appropriate gift would be and had looked for everything online until total frustration or exhaustion. So many advertisements, according to his recent search history, were flooding him with suggestions reaching from jewellery to fucking spa products and he still hated the idea. It was either too much or not personal enough and he had even debated the possibility of buying a mechanical dancing cactus.
So, he hadn't bought anything and he wasn't exactly happy about it. Until last night, he had accepted this unsatisfactory situation until he woke up at two in the morning to follow an impulse and find a poor member of the hotel staff who could help him find materials to start crafting something.
It was nothing- just... a little present, insignificant enough to pass as nothing. He couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed and he didn't know if she would even like it.
Pedro peeled off the remnants of glue that had remained on his fingertips after he had passed out.
He looked about and eventually settled on wrapping Nini's gift in a piece of a local newspaper.... out of pure lack of other material. Though on his way out, he found a nice piece of lint, stolen from somebody else's fruit basket outside their hotel room. He was pretty content with the result.
He walked up to Tilda on his way out. "Desertion, mine." he quoted their character's first encounter as their standard greeting these days. "Justice, old friend." His supernatural counterpart answered, gracefully like always.
Pedro lowered his voice. "So, about tonight. I'm sure we could make it an even bigger surprise if we all downplayed her birthday for a while, act like we all got something to do later."
"Oh, poor girl," Tilda replied but Pedro knew he could count on her. "Alright. I'll tell Bill we have questions for Jim." "Perfect."
"What's that in your hand?" Tilda asked, glancing at his newspaper-wrapped gift. He stored it between his belt on his back like a gun and covered it with his jacket. He narrowed his eyes at the smirk forming on her lips. "A small token, nothing more. I plan to give it to her over breakfast."
"Oh, to be young and in love again-" she teased him but he interrupted her by giving her the stink eye. She grinned and he couldn't stay serious for too long. Still, he might want to wait somewhere else before someone could add any more weird comments. "Yeah, I'm going for a walk before she comes down for breakfast," he told her, already turning around to head towards the gardens. He could still hear Tilda's faint laugh.
It was still early in the morning and fresh dewdrops covered the grass beneath his feet and the leaves he brushed by. He wandered through the rose garden, flowers blooming in various colours from vibrant red roses growing on the otherwise bleak wall, to bright yellow ones reaching up to his knees or petals white and fresh as snow climbing up the tree above his head. He counted twenty-two different rose bushes. What a wonderful place.
Pedro’s eyes caught a particularly beautiful, thornless rose below. He cupped the petals of the delicate flower in his hand and thought about how tender they were, light pink and soft just like the lips he had kissed silly yesterday by messing up take after take. It hadn't exactly been on purpose; he had just lost self-control whenever Nini had pulled him down for a kiss. He chuckled to himself. Maybe it had absolutely been on purpose because he couldn't get enough of those kisses. He wasn't entirely sure himself.
He brought his nose down to inhale the most intoxicating scent and let out a low hum. This rose bush must have been created by the Gods, he thought as he appreciated the garden's general beauty and splendour.
A voice called out next to him. "Buenas, veo que estás admirando mis rosas." Pedro turned and saw two women looking at him. The one who had spoken leaned out of her window, the other, who had reached methusalem age sat on terribly dilapidated stairs.
He let go of the rose and stood upright again. "Buenas días, señoras. ¿Cómo están ustedes hoy?" he asked them.
"Ay, hijo. Tengo mucha hueva." The old woman replied in a tired voice but she smiled and let her eyes twinkle above her cup of steaming coffee.
"You must pick one for that special lady of yours." The other said in English and Pedro struggled for a reply. "Who?" he replied dumbly. "She's not... we're not... I mean... your roses are very beautiful but, I don't know what she would think if I gave her a rose. I'm not sure it's a good idea."
The elderly lady pointed a wrinkly finger up towards the sky. "Dios te dará una señal si el quiere que ganes el corazón de la chica." then she pointed at Pedro, like he should expect some obvious signs from God any minute. He thought about the bird earlier this morning. If he believed in them, had the little songbird been a sign? The woman certainly looked like she knew more than she let on.
Pedro grew uncertain. "¿Qué clase de señal, señora?" he asked what she meant but she shrugged her shoulders and ordered him to head back into the garden. "Pick one, pick one! You see." she replied with a heavy accent.
Pedro guessed there was no place to argue but he didn't know if there even was some kind of heavenly sign trying to tell him he should try to win her heart. Nevertheless, he thanked the women for letting him cut off the very same, beautiful rose before he headed back to the hotel.
In the morning light, he spotted Nini sitting at a table under a parasol behind a cup of coffee and a Spanish newspaper she tried to decipher.
Pedro ran his hand through his hair a couple of times before he strolled over to her. "Good morning." he greeted her with a smile, rose no longer hidden from sight.
"Pedro, good morni- oh," she gasped when he sat down at the table and presented her with the flower. She dropped her newspaper. "Happy birthday, little songbird." he wished her.
She accepted the rose like it was the most precious thing she had ever seen. "Oh, it's beautiful, thank you. How did you know pink roses are my favourite flowers?"
He almost stuttered at the coincidence. "I didn't," he replied truthfully, thinking about all the colours of the roses he could have picked but hadn't. Not a sign though. It definitely wasn’t.
He watched her eyes flutter shut when she sank her freckled nose into the flower. "Devine." was all she said and he observed her doing something curious. She looked at him as she kissed the petals and then she rolled the rose into her blonde hair and tucked it behind her ear.
When she flashed a bright smile at him, he swore he could feel his heart dance his chest. She was so beautiful he felt struck by lightning and his breath hitched in his throat. He wanted to touch her cheek, brush his fingertips over her creamy skin and initiate a kiss to her cupid bow lips to show her what no words were ever able to tell. He took her hand in his instead, lowered his head and placed a cautious kiss onto the back of her hand. Cheesy, maybe, but worth watching her smile spread across her face like a wildfire afterwards. She blushed the colour of that rose in her hair.
"Je bent prachtig," he said in her mother tongue and saw her eyes widen at him.
"Dank je wel." she thanked him at the compliment with awe in her voice. "Where... how do you know how to say that?" "Google translate," he replied in somewhat an anti-climax. She snorted out a laugh at his reply and God, he loved it when she made that little piglet sound in a moment she lost self-control. He loved it when every time, she stopped her eruption with her hand and kept laughing anyway. He loved the way she blushed even harder when she realised, he adored her for it.
He was pining after her harder and harder every day. "I uhm, I have something for you." he reached for the flat and poorly wrapped present and traded it for her croissant.
She looked delighted and ignored him stealing her breakfast. "You really didn't have to- Oh Pedro, you just are the sweetest man. What is it?" she asked with the warmest smile that could light up every room.
Pedro might not be good at keeping secrets but he could hold off for a couple of seconds longer. "Why don't you open it?" he sucked some air through his teeth. "I mean, maybe it's too sappy. You don't have to like it." he bit into the croissant, busying himself to hide that he might be a bit nervous himself.
She started tearing the newspaper off. "I like sappy," she said. When she had finally opened it, she let out a soft gasp and just stared at the photograph. Pedro was chewing slowly, watching her reaction.
Her fingers traced the picture frame Pedro had glued tiny shells and rocks onto. They were the very same souvenirs she had picked from Montauk Beach months ago and forgotten she had given to him. He had even glued a copy of their bill from the bakery on the backside. The only thing he decided against, was to include the tiny piece of dull green glass that reminded him of her eyes. That, he had kept for himself. It was the picture of the two of them, taken on the very same day. Their 'not' first date. The most personal gift he could think of.
When he looked back at her, he witnessed a weird expression on her face. His heart sank right into his stomach, suddenly realising that a toddler could have decorated this picture frame. "I'm sorry, I'm not really good at making presents."
"You kept all of this," she said in a thick voice. Her eyes glistened when she looked back up at him again. She licked her lips. "It's perfect, Pedro. Thank you. I will... cherish this forever."
Pedro found himself embraced in a tight hug that shouldn't even be possible coming from a petite woman like her. She had swung her arms around his neck and he heard a tiny sniffle behind him. After a while of hugging her back, he realised it became hard to breathe. "Need- oxygen." he choked. "Shh, just let it happen." she joked and made him laugh.
~~~
The rest of the day went by like normal. Pedro had just partly gotten out of his costume and stood watching Nini perform her opening scene together with Tilda. It was the last take of today's work.
Since Jim's movie was on a strict diet of music from the 1960s, with the era's rock 'n roll in its purest form, Nini's theme song fitted the character who walked through that door perfectly. The upbeat music coming from a scratchy vinyl record player was a stark contrast to the rest of Azazel's hotel lobby. The high organ melody of Del Shannon's 'Runaway' was comical and quirky.
While the other characters were mostly weirded out by their surroundings, Starling walked into the room like she owned the place. She lounged over the reception desk when nobody came to answer her calls and then rolled her eyes and fed the payphone on the wall with a few spare coins.
It was always so different, hearing her speak in a different pitch and American accent, Pedro thought as he watched closely behind the cameras. Jim observed the situation as well.
"Hi, it's me. Listen, I think it's gonna take me a little while. The bus driver kicked me out at this cockroach highway hotel and I- no, I'm in the middle of fucking nowhere, hello? Hello? Goddammit!"
"We don't take the Lord's name in vain here, traveller." Tilda, playing a demon who had forgotten that real humans blink from time to time said. She had magically appeared behind the reception desk and scared Starling.
Nini always said how nobody could match the Scottish actress, who played her role as the pale fallen angel with such an effortlessly honest and honeyed attitude like she was actually an immortal being pretending to be an actress, pretending to be an immortal. Nini on the other hand, was nothing short in skill or talent. She was a natural in front of the camera. While being Starling, she was mysterious and right on the balance of being borderline self-destructive and brave at the same time. All the while, there was her own hidden softness she could not quite get rid of but maybe it was also intentional.
They exchanged their cryptic dialogue until Starling was given a key to her room, just like the other guests.
"CUT!" Jim announced and a bell rang. "Thank you, we're gonna make it a wrap for today." Pedro watched him walk over to Nini as the crew began clearing the set. "I would like to have a word with you. Meet me back at the hotel later." Pedro heard him say.
"Is something wrong? We can try again right now," she replied, a bit anxious. Pedro turned around so she wouldn't be able to see him suppress a smile behind his hand. Of course, there wasn't an issue with her performance. They just needed a reason to get her to the surprise party.
"No." Jim just said gruffly and left it at that, not explaining anything so he wouldn't have to make up a lie. Wow, that's brutal, Pedro thought and looked back at her, maintaining his innocent expression. Brutal, but concerningly effective. Nini frowned and she stared ahead, clutching her other hand around her wrist in the absence of her bracelet. It didn't seem like she was processing any kind of motion around her when Pedro approached her.
"Hey, there. About that drink tonight-" he began, putting his hands into his pockets. "I'm afraid Chiwetel and I have to go fix an issue with our scene performance for tomorrow. Do you think we could maybe get a rain check?" she looked surprised and he started to doubt her skills as an actress when she smiled and nodded. "No, of course. No problem. Just hit me up whenever you like. I think I'm going to head to bed early today anyway." Her tone of voice almost broke his heart but he had to keep up his façade.
Pedro clapped his hand onto her shoulder and almost lost his act after this very atypical and bro-like gesture. He would do it like Jim and just leave her hanging without a second glance. He really had to offer his apologies later.
~~~
It was Tom who stalked into the bar sliding across the floor the fasted way Pedro had ever seen him move. The older man hunched in a goblin-like manner, chuckling lowly. "Hide." he crowed in an amused way and crouched behind the pool table, winking at Pedro, who was getting ready by fastening the string of a silly party cone under his chin. Bill was in hiding right behind him, preparing to pop a bottle of sparkling wine. "I'm too old for this shit." he joked, looking at him and Tom, who just nodded.
Pedro could hear her coming closer. "-improve my performance by not trying so hard to-" she spoke as she and Jim entered the bar.
"Surprise!" The whole group of actors, crew members and staff jumped out of their hiding spot and erupted into a cacophony of wild cheering, party horns, music blaring from the jukebox and confetti thrown into the air.
They had scared the living shit out of her, making her curse in words only the roughest Dutch sailors would have been able to comprehend. It even provoked a rare, full smile from Jim. Everyone around her offered their congratulations.
"You guys!" She screamed once she had collected herself. Her eyes found Pedro's and she suddenly looked like she would love to strangle him. "You tricked me!" she accused him, rightfully so.
"Guilty as charged." He walked over to her and wrapped her into a bear hug before she could physically harm him. She calmed down and giggled instead. "I'm so sorry about earlier, little songbird." he pouted but she washed the guilt away by first, punching his shoulder and then placing a chaste kiss onto his cheek. "I think I deserved that." he rubbed his shoulder with a grin. "You deserved both of that." she laughed, taking in her surroundings.
"Happy birthday, dear." Tilda had brought her a tall glass of beer and turned around to the crowd. "To Leonie. May your new year be full of joy and happiness."
Bill had finally managed to pop the bottle and filled the remaining empty flutes around him.
They all raised their glasses together. "To Leonie." they drank to her and the party continued as a lit cake was carried into the bar. People ate cake and shared the sweets she had beaten out of the piñata while being blindfolded. She looked so happy the entire time, past troubles long forgotten.
Everyone around them was enjoying the party, and Pedro was chatting with Chiwetel, his party hat long discarded. They were sitting in one of the booths but he looked up as a song by Fleetwood Mac started playing from the jukebox.
He and Nini instantly locked eyes across the room and grinned at each other. A song from the very same album they had listened to during their road trip played and while it was perhaps not a sign, it might have been a small indication that whatever happened could turn out to be just right.
He raised an eyebrow, ran his fingers over his moustache and as he pointed both hands to his chest, she took him up on his wordless suggestion. She sat down her glass and danced up to him. If Pedro had been able to look away, he might have seen Chiwetel glancing between them above his drink with eyes that were silently screaming.
Her hips swayed to the music and when she had reached their booth, she extended her hand to him. "I think our song is playing, angel," she told him with a gleam of mischief in her eyes. They had danced so many times before, usually in between their takes and he didn't know why the prospect of dancing with her now somehow felt more special.
Unlike most people, they seemed to be able to call an entire album 'theirs' instead of just one track but Pedro wasn't about to question why she thought that this particular, quite danceable song was their jam. Maybe it would be from now on.
"This calls for a dance," Pedro said, stood up from the booth and took her hand. He suddenly snatched her body close to his and he looked down at her with a playful smirk upon his lips. Nini laughed at his eagerness and her joy was buzzing off her spirit as he dropped the act and spun her around. She led him by the hand towards the dance floor.
Whether they danced good or not to the fun and happy song was up for debate but they didn't care for anything in the world. He just felt overjoyed to see the brightness of her inner light beam out to him as they spun around and around or rocked to the rhythm of the music.
Around them, more people started dancing, swaying around to the music, laughing and celebrating the feeling of being here and alive. Pedro thought about this as a golden moment he would always remember and would always look back at in a fond way no matter what the future held in store for them.
I don't want to know the reasons why
Love keeps right on walking down the line
I don't want to stand between you and love
Honey, I just want you to feel fine
Eventually, the night continued, bottles emptied, people went home and only their small group of actors who stayed in this hotel and their director sat in one booth together. They shared their laughter, drinks and party tricks and told stories and anecdotes. They should have done this way sooner.
As artists, everyone had their fair share to comment on various types of music and movies. Pedro gave Nini a quizzical look as he continued their conversation. "But you must have a favourite movie, everyone has this one movie they can't watch too many times." he couldn't believe that she couldn't quite name her favourite.
"I uhm... one of my favourite films is probably... The Breakfast Club?" Pedro gasped, so did some of the others. "I love that movie!" he gave back the same amount of enthusiasm.
Nini shrugged her shoulders. "I like everything with an iconic soundtrack. Like... Mr Tom Waits over here, you make fantastic music."
The man hugging his guitar close to him remained humble. "Ye, I may pass as descent. You play, don't you?" He asked her with his gravelly voice and always half-closed eyes. He tucked his second cigarette behind his ear and flicked his toothpick into an ashtray.
Nini turned her nearly empty glass of beer in her hand. "The guitar? Yes." "Long?" "Since I was fourteen, I think." "Were you ever in a band?" "No, not really. I was always busy getting my acting career started but who knows, maybe I could have been in a punk rock band instead. Turns out being a rock star wasn't my destiny. Good thing too 'cause I'm hanging out with you people." she finished her beer in one last gulp.
"Play for us, will you?" Chiwetel asked promptly and without waiting for an objection to happen, Tom's guitar was passed over their seats until it landed in Nini's lap. "Uhm," she made a nervous sound. "Oh sod it... I'm sure I can make something up. Hold on."
She nodded and played a few experimental notes of a slow blues on Tom's guitar. Pedro smiled at the sound it emitted and they all did not move a muscle amidst their silence when Nini found a steady groove. She hummed a tune, faintly at first which then grew into a melody that slowly began to tear at Pedro’s heart.
He began tapping his foot in the rhythm of the music and grinned when Nini started playing a more complex variation of the blues. Her fingers danced over the strings like playing came to her as effortlessly as breathing. She stopped the strings from ringing, then pulled at them again to make it sing and weep. It was a magnificent play and Pedro was a fascinated and impressed listener.
She continued a basic tune which fit the first words that come from her mouth and which were only spoken. "There is a hotel every lost soul is forced to stay in on their way down the road-" she played a few chords, acting like she was a weary blues singer beyond her years. It made them chuckle. "In this case, life didn't write the best stories." she stopped playing, testing their silence. "Death did." the group responded with an intrigued "Oooh."
Her play continued and this time, she began singing. "Sinners gather 'round in a dark hotel-" she dedicated her song to them, giving the group a meaningful look. She tugged at the strings and let out a laugh. She sang a slow and lazy tune she just made up on the spot.
Nini continued and played a blues solo before she went over to singing the next verse.
"Come black angel knock on my front door,
There's a demon judging over my soul.
Poor sinners gather 'round in a dark hotel
Where the walls listen to your lies but never tell."
She had been looking at Pedro as she sang the last part. He felt his chest rise, trying to contain the warm feeling spreading in his chest. He failed to ignore the tiny hidden meaning of her words.
"They said life would write my story
Oh, Angel, I'm not even sorry,
You have played the biggest part
And in the end-
You found my heart"
She had stopped the chords ringing before the last verse and hummed, repeating the chorus a couple of times until she ended the song in a fresh riff with the neck of an empty bottle.
"Believe me, angel, you saved my soul."
She sang at the end of her unrehearsed performance. A few of them clapped, the others joined in noises of approval. Tom let out a hoarse laugh, clearly impressed. "Christ, kid. You don't do half bad." he lifted his hat to show his respect. Tilda's eyes were wide and Chiwetel's eyebrows had shot up towards his hairline like they had all been underestimating her. Everyone but Jim and Pedro himself. Speechless, but not surprised.
Pedro finally managed to close his mouth by taking a swig from his bottle of beer. "That was fucking amazing. You just came up with that right now?" he asked, perfectly stunned. He would have loved to hear more but Nini passed the guitar back to Tom with finality and propped her chin onto his shoulder. "Thanks, well. The groove yes but I took inspiration from the notes I made in my copy of the script." she grinned.
"Shame nobody recorded it," Jim said in a regretful tone but Nini sighed. "Some things were meant to exist for only a moment."
"The girl is full of surprises." Bill threw in and pointed at Tom. "Hey, maybe you should hit a recording studio, what do you think, Tom? I can imagine the two of you playing together." Tilda excitedly opened her mouth. "Oh, please do!"
"Stop, you're just having a... bit of a laugh." Nini stuttered but before she could dismiss Bill's idea, Tom sat up straight for the first time. "Yeah, man. Absolutely."
She blinked. "Are you serious? Fuck, yes."
Tom was tugging the cigarette from behind his ears, lighting it up. He looked over to Jim. "I bet Jack would like her style too," he said, voice thin from the smoke he inhaled. Pedro wondered if he meant Jack White. Probably. He could feel Nini tense up beside him.
Jim seemed to think about it. "It may be worth a shot. Have you ever thought about a record deal?"
She looked back and forth between them. "You mean... a real record deal? I wouldn't dare dream of it."
"I mean, if a label is interested, they'll probably come to you but there's this energy inside of you that's specifically your signature." Jim leaned back into the leather seats. His monotone, deep voice made him sound somewhat more sincere than any indication of enthusiasm ever could. "I'm rolling with it in my movie. I wouldn't be surprised if you were to record a whole album one day."
"Sky's the limit, baby," Pedro added, tilting his head to look at her from a different angle and Nini just stared at them, jaw slacked. After a while, she grabbed the Tequila bottle. "Bloody hell." she poured another shot for everyone and they all raised their glass across the table. "To art." she proposed.
"To art," Pedro repeated and knocked the shot back together with the rest of them. He bit into his slice of lemon afterwards, grinning at the sour taste as he put his arm around her shoulders. He mustered the people around him, thinking he could get used to nights like these.
~~~
He found out she was not someone who could hold her liquor well, even though he hadn't counted the number of shots and glasses of beer they had already wiped off the face of the earth. Nini's makeup had smeared beneath her eyes and she sometimes failed to eat her hand full of peanuts. A drunk Nini laughed and joked a lot and a very drunk Nini made a radical change and fell silent and drowsy.
He didn't complain when she cuddled up against him, pulled her knees up to his chest and dropped her head onto his shoulder. Pedro was drunk himself and didn't mind being her pillow. She mumbled something he couldn't understand as he tucked a strand of dishevelled hair behind her ear.
"What's she saying? What's that... 'dudgee doon?' Sounds cute." Pedro asked the others, hoping they'd make sense of Dutch.
"I think it means she wants to sleep," Tilda suggested, which made sense. It must have been two in the morning already. Bill was snoring in his corner of the booth and everyone else had fallen into a low conversation.
Pedro felt quite intoxicated himself but he wasn't nearly as wasted as the poor, limp woman in his arms, who desperately tried to stay awake. His fingertips felt numb from the effect of alcohol as he tipped her chin up and gently brushed the fringe out of her face to feel her temperature. Even though her eyes remained closed, she felt otherwise normal. She even smiled at his touch. "I should see that she makes it to her room safely. I can't trust her to find her bed by herself." Pedro said to the others without letting go of her.
"Yeah, you do that," Chiwetel said in a suggestive tone, smirked and raised his glass one more time, Tom whistled and laughed. Tilda winked at him and Jim kept a poker face behind his sunglasses and the smoke of his cigarette. Their message was clear and Pedro tilted his head at their childish mockery. "Really! Look at her. You should be ashamed for even thinking such a thing. Shame." he repeated the word over and over as he pointed at each of them, even at Bill, who had nothing to do with it. They laughed, some drunker than others.
"Who are you calling incompetent?" Nini protested herself.
He pried her limbs off his lap. "C'mon birthday girl, party is over." She made a sound of complaint, making him chuckle too.
He pulled her up and supported her weight by holding tightly onto her waist. Surprisingly, she could walk. She even made a little bow to the remaining group and bid them goodnight in a strangely formal way. Before they walked out the door, she yelled back. "Best birthday ever." They cheered to answer her.
She held onto Pedro’s arm for support. "I know I keep-" she let out a tiny burp and giggled. "-saying that but I've never had so much fun in my entire life. Thank you for this wonderful party." she hugged him sideways and he pulled her closer, rubbing her arm. "You're so welcome, I knew you would like it."
Nini squinted around the place but they were the only people around. "I lied to you." she shared with him in confidence and a very drunk manner once she was sure they were alone. They were walking down the lobby. Pedro frowned, trying to find his latest memories through his clouded mind. "About what?"
"About my favourite movie. Don't get me wrong, I love The Breakfast Club but... I couldn't be-" she hiccupped. "-honest in front of the others, you're all too cool an' I'm not." she almost cried. "The first time I heard of Tom Waits was because he played Hook- the piano man in Shrek."
He laughed at her miserable tone of voice. "What do you mean, not cool?" he thought she was extremely cool.
They reached the lift and he leaned against the wall. She shut her eyes and pinched her index finger into his chest. "Because it's 'mbarrassing. Don't laugh, Pedro. You might be the least snobbish person I ever met but it still irks some people."
He grinned at her. "That bad?" he asked and she hummed a 'yes' with a sour expression.
"S' Mummy." she finally admitted.
He laughed out loud but for an entirely different reason. "Mummy like in... 'The' Mummy?" he inquired and she nodded. He raised his hand to his forehead. "What are you talking about? Those were great movies!"
"Right?" she squeaked, eyes wide but unfocused.
He eventually thought about actually punching in the correct button for the lift. "Yeah! Not one boring minute in it, best fucking-" his voice slowed down as he thought of adjectives to describe the movie. "-historically inaccurate comedy-horror adventure picture. Who says movies have to be thoughtful all the time?"
"I feel exactly the same, it's just so fun and perfectly timed. I like all kinds of zombie or mummy movies. I would love to play a character in one of them someday... Just-" she stepped back, crossed the air with her arms and defended herself against an army of imaginative zombies in a very lousy manner. "Whack'm, splash, splash!" Pedro got pummelled by her invisible baseball bat and they both made sounds of a filthy battle and ended up in drunk laughter. "Jim made a zombie movie once," she remarked after she had pretended to bite into his arm.
He caught his breath and posture as they heard the lift arrive. "Right! It was... eh, different." Pedro thought about how he might be balancing on thin ice here but the movie had been weird. Still, the good kind of weird but...
"Chardonnaaay!" They both referenced the movie and moaned out their best zombie impression and they would have woken up the entire hotel if the doors hadn't already closed behind them.
Nini leaned against the metal wall. "Why is the lift moving sideways?" she asked, frowning deeply. "S'um Chocolate Factory bullshit."
Pedro bumped his head onto her shoulder and he didn't recognise his own laugh. She could say the funniest things and only realise how hilarious her words were when someone else started laughing about it.
She laughed about her joke. "It's not, isn't it?" she squinted at him and he shook his head. "No." "Tequila, man. I'm just dizzy." the doors swished open and they stumbled out into the hallway. Nini was disorientated, looking left and right, seemingly not remembering where her own room was. She clung onto Pedro and he feared she would collapse any minute. They were still laughing and Pedro shushed the both of them with a finger raised to each of their lips.
She laughed so hard she must have woken up the entire floor.
Her knees started to buckle under her as she lost balance and he had to catch her. "Ok, watch out, here we go," Pedro warned her before he swept her off her feet and began to carry her bridal style down the hallway. She made a sound of surprise and barely managed to hold onto him. He had to adjust her and when she finally swung her arms around him, she smiled.
"So strong. Strong man," she mumbled like a true cavewoman. Pedro was considerably less drunk than she and yet he almost felt high on something else when he let himself nuzzle his nose into her hair and breathe in her intoxicating fragrance. A mixture of her fruity shampoo and something much, much sweeter he began longing for as soon as he stopped sensing it.
They finally made it to her door and Pedro set her down. Nini swayed when she was back on her own two feet and clung onto Pedro’s shoulders a bit more. She was still only inches away from him, cradling his face now, she almost kissed him as she placed an open-mouthed whisper to his lips. "Make love to me." she almost begged him.
He held his breath, world spinning a little more at the sight of her exposed throat, only waiting to be kissed.
Pedro only loosely held onto her bucking hips and couldn't help but bury his nose into the junction of her neck. He gently nipped at her pulse point and felt her rapid heartbeat below his lips as he breathed in her sweet scent. She let her head fall back against the door to give him better access and let out a faint whimper.
Pedro feared he'd gave in to the temptation right then and there. The alcohol was clouding his good judgement and he almost let out a sob when he realised that this was a bad idea.
Terrible idea, he corrected his thought when he looked up from her soft skin and let her claim his lips. Lips that were designed to replace a tiny piece of heaven.
Maybe it was the training he had gotten to stop himself from kissing her back, but he gently pried her arms off him and made her back her shoulders onto the door. "You're drunk. You need sleep, little songbird." "What I need is you," she argued with eyes half-open and needy for him.
"Where's your key, let's get you into bed." "Oh, yes!" "Not like that." "Aw, no." Pedro let out a husky laugh but prayed for the ability to keep a clear mind when she rolled her body up to meet his and dug her fingers into his hair.
He let out an involuntary hum and closed his eyes at the sensation. "What about the pinky promise?" He asked, breathlessly, feeling the blood rush down his body.
She tugged slightly and murmured into his ear. "Screw the pinky promise." "Nini-"
"You know you want me." She passed the untold secret between them. Pedro stared at her, feeling an insatiable desire for her touch and warmth. She was a vessel of fresh water waiting for him in this desert and he was a man close to dying of thirst. "Fuck." he cursed, Tequila loosening his tongue as he growled. "Of course, I want you. But I'm not taking advantage of you in your current state." he wasn't a savage.
Nini cupped his cheek with her palm and cooed. "You're not taking advantage of me, you could never."
He wanted to lean into her touch so badly. "Exactly. Where's your key?" he repeated his question instead.
She sighed. "Here." she fished the key out of her pocket and fumbled with it but before she could find the right end, she dropped it. "Where did it go?" she asked in confusion. Wow, she really was absolutely hammered.
"Let me take care of that." Pedro felt his own world spiral again when he bent down to pry her keys off the hotel floor and when he emerged, he stumbled into her as she hooked her leg around him and grabbed him by the collar, showing him what exactly she wanted. He stood entirely too close to her again, accidentally letting himself press his pelvis into her hips. Their breaths mixed as their bodies flushed together and the air felt thick and heavy when they stared into each other's eyes. He felt his already hardened cock ache for more friction. She wanted him just as much, heaven knew he wanted her before they had even made that stupid pinky promise.
Nini chewed on her bottom lip as she felt his erection pressing up against her and he couldn't stop the groan building up his throat. His fingers dug into her soft curves and his mouth grazed at the edge of her jaw when he thoughtlessly guided his thigh between her legs. Even the barest of all touches against her warm core made her drop more of her weight against his leg and emit a sweet, musical moan. Oh, how he would love to hear more of these mewling sounds, bury himself deep into her and feel her legs cling around him to hold on for dear life.
Pedro’s hand had snuck up past the hem of her shirt and he increased the pressure between them as he flattered his hand across the small of her back. He was still crowding her against the door, staring back into these lovely, impossibly dilated eyes when he lined the key up at the hole and heard it connect with the metal. He was well aware of the metaphor he created when he used the strength of his entire arm to push it forward in one rough motion. She gasped into his mouth. There was something about that first thrust, that beautiful first thrust.
Nini stifled her whimper by kissing him with new vigour. Their lips were sliding against each other and Pedro turned the key as their open-mouthed kiss turned into a heated duel. The door crashed into the wall and so did they. Her tongue lost the battle for dominance and she moaned into the kiss when he lifted her up against the wall. She pushed the door shut.
The more Pedro kissed and ground into her, the more he felt himself lose control.
'No', he thought, sudden alarms going off in his head. She's drunk, stop this. Stop this now, you have barely a second left before you would lose the ability to stop yourself from taking her right against this wall. He could simply hitch up her skirt and-
Pedro broke this kiss. "No." the tone of his response sounded like a curse. "You're drunk. We both are. I'm not gonna-" She would most likely not even remember it if they spend this night together. He couldn't do this to the both of them.
"Pedro," she hushed his name against his lips, hands clinging onto his neck.
"We have to stop," he said again, letting her slide down the wall. He tore himself away from her and rushed out of her room like a tornado.
Pedro slammed the door behind him and let out a silent curse against the ceiling once he realised he had isolated himself. Nini was on the other side of that door and he wanted nothing more than to tear it down again.
He bumped his skull against it instead with a loud thump, feeling lost and incomplete, even though he knew he was doing the right thing.
Pedro heard a stifled giggle from inside. "I can still see you." her dulled voice from inside her room mocked him. Pedro glared at the small peephole at eye level and he let out a sound of frustration.
He turned away to drag his feet across the hallway. "Fuuuck!" he cried out, clutching his hands over his eyes. He was simultaneously cursing and congratulating himself for this excellent move of not giving in to what he most desired. Could someone who made him feel so alive also be the death of him?
Met Levi at a Comic Con - they literally ran into each other, Levi in Lord of Shadows cosplay, Ru in Female Henry cosplay on her way to perform on stage, they bonded after the performance. Stayed in contact online for a while before meeting up in cosplay a few times, then to hang out as friends. Levi eventually brought her back to HOL to play games, where she was introduced to his brothers.
Animal theme: Feathered dragon/bald eagle
Relations to other characters:
Lucifer: Heavy dislike because of how harsh he can be to his brothers, especially Mammon. Will tolerate him though. Will quote musicals and sometimes Shakespeare to casually insult him. Will only lash out if he says something that might hurt someone, as a reminder that maybe he shouldn’t be so tough on those around him.
Mammon: Love interest (ignore this if you don’t like OCs shipped with canon characters). Bonded after she first came home with Levi, she saw how, despite being talked down to by his brothers, he kept supporting them no matter what insults they threw at him. Very supportive of him and comforts him whenever she can.
Levi: Best friend (one of), was the first of the brothers she met, thinks he's funny and likes it when he starts rambling about things he likes, joins in at times, wants to help him with his insecurities.
Satan: Mutual respect for how much they both annoy Lucifer. Happy to talk about books and musicals with him. Tries to reassure him that he is not Lucifer 2.0
Asmo: Best friend (one of). Gossip, music and shopping buddies. Likes spending spa days together. Very supportive of her whenever she has a body image breakdown. Tries to calm her down when she's angry at Lucifer, but won't physically get in the way.
Beel: Friends, he makes sure she has food if she's going through one of her body image episodes (was told by Mammon and Asmo), tries to comfort him when he's worried about what's happening between his brothers. Will frequently bake things for him and his brothers.
Belphie: Like Satan, mutual respect for how much they annoy Lucifer. Happy to lie about and just chill with him.
MC: Mother figure. Very protective of them and will defend them from anyone who wishes them harm, including the brothers. Makes sure they're alright as much as she can. Has a pact with them so they can call her whenever they need her.
Diavolo: Respects him. Understands he has a lot going on so will give help when asked, but most of the time will leave him be. Very grateful towards him due to him helping her get settled in the Devildom when she arrived after her death.
Barbatos: A little afraid of him because of his time related abilities. Tries to keep on his good side as much as she can.
Simeon: A bit of a fan, since he's the author of TSL, one of her favourite series. Holds him in very high regards, very happy to talk with him. Has offered to collaborate with him if he needs music for future films/episodes.
Luke: Considers herself a bit of a mother figure to him. Looks after him when he's upset, happy to bake with him as much as he wants.
Solomon: A little skeptical of him, considering the 72 pacts he has with demons and his magical ability. One of the few people she struggles to read.
Astro*: Best friend (one of). Will team up with her to stand up to Lucifer. Protective of one another, will gladly cause chaos together.
Hiris**: Best friend (one of). A little jealous at times because she still has some family, but overall similar relationship as between Ru and Astro. Will gladly try to satisfy her curiosity and listens to her stories a lot.
Role: Student, vocalist and musician at multiple clubs
Family: None, doesn’t know what happened to her human parents or siblings after she died, barely remembers them at all.
Extra facts:
Will use her water magic both to help herself and others to calm down after a bad day and also to trap anyone she wants to 'talk' to - will freeze their legs and shoes to the ground so they can't move (usually Lucifer or people who decide to verbally or physically attack one of her friends)
Will buy Mammon or Levi something from Akuzon without them knowing whenever they've had a bad day to cheer them up
Will cause water based inconveniences targeted at Lucifer if she wants a more subtle way of annoying him after he's given someone (usually Mammon) a too severe punishment - e.g. burst pipe in his bathroom, frozen drink when he's starting to overstep his boundaries (even when she's not in the room, has a codeword with Mammon for him to send to her if he ever feels like Lucifer is talking down to him too much), bucket of water is accidentally knocked over and it spills on him, water goes cold when he's having a shower and will not reheat (Lucifer knows its her but has no way to prove it as she's never actually seen doing it unless she wants to be seen, only MC, Hiris and Astro know that Ru has the HOL pipe system memorized so she knows which pipe goes to which room)
Most presents she gives that haven't been bought on Akuzon are either made with her water magic or tickets to concerts she has managed to get through a few connections (the latter is usually for Levi)
Can and will come up with the most creative insults she can
Is an ace at rhythm games
Has sung duets with Asmo/accompanied Asmo on several instruments
Hates horror movies
Always carries two flasks: one of water so she always has access to something to use for her powers, and one of pineapple juice to help soothe her throat.
Has let Asmo style her several times for concerts - including the time with the suit and corset.
Loves swimming
Is bisexual
Ship facts (please disregard this if you don’t like OCs shipped with canon characters):
Often persuades Mammon to do shows/concerts with her as a way to make him feel better and to get back at his brothers
Mammon has persuaded her to do multiple modelling sessions with him.
Also uses the concerts she knows Mammon will be watching as a way to flirt with him - has worn a suit and corset with heeled boots to do this before.
Has kissed Mammon on stage multiple times.
Has Mammon saved as MonMon on her DDD
*Astro belongs to one of my friends (will update if I find them on Tumblr)
**Hiris belongs to @storypanda88
Christmas shopping with Jadon to buy something for his mum and he loves how you're trying so hard to find the perfect gift for her
“I’m not sure if she’ll like the pattern” you’re telling him as the two of you lay in bed online shopping, discarding the idea of getting her a scarf when none of them seem to match her style, “how about one of those Jo Malone candles? I know she’s got one already but she’s always lighting it whenever we go round” you’re saying as he nods his head and adds one to the basket, “we could get her some jewellery too, I know she’d love a personalised charm to go on the bracelet she got for her birthday” you’re suggesting as you quickly change websites and start scrolling through all of the different beads, zooming in on all of them and scrunching your nose up when you realise that they’re not really her style, Jadon’s heart bursting as he sits and watches you make your way through page after page of bracelet charms before flicking over to look at some fancy shower gels, loving how thoughtful you were when it came to gifts and how desperate you were to make all of his mum’s presents absolutely perfect, just wanting to go that extra little mile to say thank you for taking you under her wing and treating you like one of her own ever since the two of you first met
Hair Accessories For Girls
There are a million different kinds of girls hair accessories on the market and it's hard to figure out which kind will work best for your little girl, not to mention, unless you make them yourself, who really knows what the heck the difference is between the different clips - alligator, French barrette, snap clips, huh?! Well, depending on what you want to do with them, there are definitely some that will work better than others for what you need so it's a good idea to have an idea of what each type of hair accessory is meant for so you can make the best choice.
 The most commonly used girls hair accessory is the alligator clip. The reason it's called the alligator clip is because it looks just like an alligator's mouth. You press one end and it opens up. They are usually made of metal and come in a range of sizes, typically 1-1/4" to 2". They are very easy to put in so pretty much hassle free for moms. Many are made with 'no-slip grips' so they shouldn't fall out of even fine hair and are harder for your little one to get out. You can get these clips in a simple and elegant style, made just with ribbon, or frilly and fancy with bows. They work in all types of hair and are great for keeping hair out your little girl's face, especially if she's growing out her bangs!
 Another kind of clip is called the snap clip. This just basically snaps in place. You will find a lot of baby and girls' hair accessories are made with the snap clip. I find these are harder to get in because they don't open up nearly as wide as the alligator clips, but they are perfect for the babies with just peach fuzz or less than 1 inch of hair. You can certainly get them in bigger sizes (they typically range from 1" to 4") for for bigger kids too, but they've never been my favorite type of clip for anything other than accessorizing. They are lots though that are super cute with bows and things, but they're really meant more for adding to a cute hairstyle than to actually hold hair back.
 The next kind of popular girls hair accessory is the barrette, sometimes called French barrette. These are especially good for the older girls with more hair. Barrettes are different than alligator clips because they close at both ends and actually snap together. This holds a secure section of hair, even up to the amount of a a pony tail. They come in a range of sizes as well. They are great for thick hair and for holding a more defined section of hair.
 Another type of clip is the jaw clip. These come in a large variety of sizes, from tiny, 'mini' jaw clips that can go even in young toddler's hair to big clips that moms can use instead of wearing a pony. These are great to take whole sections of hair and keep it out of the way or to just clip back either side or both. The little minis are great even for moms just to pull back a narrow section on each side for a trendy, casual look.
 Beyond the clips and barrettes there's of course the headbands and elastics. I'm sure you already know what these are! One thing you may not know is that headbands are also great for those little babies with barely-there hair if you don't want to go the clip route. You can get fabric or crocheted headbands with pretty flowers on them and they go around the head front-to-back rather than the usual way. You may especially want to try this if you're tired of hearing "what a cute boy you have" over and over again! We've come a long way from when my mother would tape a bow on my bald head, not a pretty bow mind you, but one of those ones that you use on presents!
 For the older girls headbands are meant to go on top of the head of course, and either end at the ears if it's a hard plastic one, or go all the way around the head if it's fabric. These are probably the easiest route for the older girl trying to grow out her bangs!
 So there you have it. Now you're all set to go shopping for the perfect girls hair accessories! Have fun!
Presents and souvenirs - Are Excellent Gift items From the Cardiovascular system
Americans acquire much more relaxing as getaway presents than just about any class. The typical American spends only two. forks per day typically, far less compared to Countries in europe who commit three and a half forks per man or woman per day generally. Americans take doubly many holidays a year than the Europeans and they take much more buying present-intelligent. People in america commit nearly two times as many bucks per man or woman on average for getaways, purchasing, presents and souvenirs as being the Japanese do. Americans consider a lot more leisurely as vacation features than the Japanese do, regardless that Japanese families commit a lot more money typical for getaways, presents and souvenirs. Us citizens are recognized to be big on convenience meals, such as pizzas, beer as well as other alcohol, fried foods like wings and fowl boobies, and french fries. Us citizens retail outlet in shops for apparel, footwear and jewellery. Europeans look for garments, foods and components on the internet. Store shopping can be a internet necessity for American citizens. Americans tend to buy the exact same clothing two times, perhaps even much more. An internet based retailer is most likely the greatest shopper's aspiration since it can offer the very same piece from a single web site to yet another. The best part of shopping on the internet is the fact that buyers gain access to hundreds of thousands of products, many of which are absolutely free or extremely affordable. Which means free shipping and totally free profits in case the client decides nothing like the item after having a acquire. https://black.volyn.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=10977&p=80329#p80329 Another advantage of shopping on the web for Christmas and also other holiday break presents is that shoppers do not require to travel to neighborhood outlets to find all of the top deals. By shopping on the web, shoppers can help to save time and money and shop any time or night. The easiest method to promote gifts is to place them in special boxes, like mugs or bowls or boxes. But sometimes, the very best everything is basic and common. Often, simple and everyday storage containers get the best souvenirs. And when a consumer recognizes a good deal on cups or dishes and the individual would like the free freight, all she or he has to perform is email or contact the store operator and inform her or him about the email or get in touch with the shop. Naturally, there are many online stores that specialize in only a distinct form of present or piece. For instance, some shops specialize in handing out infant shower area gifts or wedding ceremony presents or birthday party or wedding gift items. And when someone just would like to buy the best mementos, then they can always choose to search online and look for the perfect gift retail outlet that provides everything from empty CD to engraved CD and anything else conceivable. These shops provide a multitude of things for sale. In fact, the most effective souvenirs to give are the type that come from the heart. And they are the varieties of mementos that are more inclined to are excellent gift ideas from your coronary heart than other sorts of presents on the internet or using their company spots. These are the basic form of presents that could be far more custom made and can be genuine, than other things. For this reason many community artists actually make these materials specifically in order to be provided as mementos. And one good thing about this is a great gift store company may actually change a nice gain from these goods - something which can easily make a person's working day.
Wingman || Lydia & Jared
Timing: Before the poisoning.
Location: Faetal Attraction
Tagging: @inspirationdivine & @themidnightfarmer
Description: Lydia and Jared take a night on the town.
Triggers: Violence tw
 Lydia buzzed with excitement. If you looked closely, you could see the tiniest blur around her ears, where the glamour didn’t quite stretch to cover her jewellery. It didn’t matter, though, because in a minute she wouldn’t have to wear the glamour at all. When Jared had told her he’d never been to faetal attraction, Lydia had sworn to fix it at once, so here she was, waiting for him just outside the door. “Jared! It’s wonderful to see you again!” Especially when she wasn’t frightened for her life.
Jared wasn’t quite sure what to expect. He’d heard about the place, but up until recently he’d had no fae friends to go with. Anytime he’d gotten close either he was with a human friend that had been given a serious stink eye by the person at the door taking admissions, or he’d started to feel that tingly feeling in his fingertips. A feeling that until now had been unknown to him. However, this time, as he’d approached Lydia the feeling was known. He was with fae. His smile reflected his own excitement. “Hey!” He greeted her exuberantly. “You too! This was a great idea!”
Lydia smirked, tilting her head. “I can’t believe you haven’t been here before. You’re in for such a treat. That finger tingling of yours is going to be intense tonight. There are a few non-fae in here, but it’s mostly people like us in there.” She offered her arm for him to take, before leading him into the bustling, warm club. Her chest rang at all the other fae, in a technicolour crowd of every type of appendage on view. Lydia dropped her glamour as soon as she’d paid for them both to enter. “Where do you want to sit?”
He’d been such a hermit for so long, unaware of all the joys of being a fae, that Jared was fully dazed as they entered. He stumbled over the lip in the doorway and his eyes couldn’t stop moving. Person to person. It was incredible. “Wow.” he said less than eloquently. Looking down at Lydia in awe he just blinked at her for a moment dumbfounded. She was still Lydia, but without her glamour she was a whole new image to take in. His mouth worked soundlessly before Jared finally caught up with himself. “Anywhere you’d like. At the bar?”
Lydia caught him as he stumbled, looking up at his with a concerned smile until he had righted himself again. Watching him was almost as intoxicating as watching the crowd. This was how she wished Regan was. Full of wonder and excitement, rather than fear and doubt. Lydia followed his gaze to a woman with fluffy moth wings, a man whose wispy dark skin gave way to glorious antlers, an individual with skin like glass, more than a couple folks with horns. All sorts. Without her own glamour, Lydia literally glowed, her brown and yellow beetle-like shells shifting as she walked, dark translucent wings poking out between them. Her ears stretched to the tops of her head and were adorned with dozens of sparkling gems. “Like what you see so far? Bar it is. What do you want to drink?”
Dropping his own glamour wasn’t even a thought to Jared, he simply had forgotten that it was an option in public. He was so unused to it, even in his own home he was rarely seen without it. Although that might have been just in the hopes that someone might come to visit at any time. Even with their arms linked, Jared lagged behind Lydia as she led the way through the crowds. Watching her wings shift in the light and noticing her hair tangle lightly over a gem in her ear. He could see why she could be called a muse. He beamed and pulled out a stool for her when they arrived at the bar. “Let me buy you a drink, yeah? What would you like to drink? Pick your poison.”
He looked around like a toddler at the lightshow, and Lydia couldn’t help but giggle at his wonder. Not to make fun of his perspective, but to delight in him as much as he delighted in the space. She waved Julie over, one of the few humans in the entire establishment, and one of the few Lydia ever voluntarily interacted with. “Oh, in which case, I’ll have a red wine. They do a lovely Sauvignon here,” Lydia said, smiling warmly at his offer. “You know that you don’t have to look human here, right? There are no wardens, no dangers here. Everyone here is community. Cousins, even.”
“Make that two large glasses.” Jared ordered of Julie before taking the seat beside his company for the evening. A sheepish grin took over his face and he slowly let his human skin fade. Black veins appeared first, followed by slightly glowing purple eyes. And then the horns, all four of them sprouting at once. His skin settled to grey and he shivered slightly. “Feels really weird.” the nymph commented, wiggling his shoulders as the usual soft connection to his charges doubled in strength. He gave out a laugh and rocked on his chair in wonder. “I feel like I’m doing something bad.” he admits with the air of a child who wasn’t even sorry that all the cookies were gone.
Lydia had seen him without glamour before, but not nearly long enough to truly and fully appreciate it. He looked eerie and dramatic, and all the more beautiful for it. From the grey pallor of his skin, to the distracting amethyst in his eyes. Like this, he couldn’t be mistaken for something human, and it made Lydia completely breathless. Even without her glamour, if one squinted one might consider Lydia human looking, like you could say for Regan and Deirdre. People like Felix, Morelia and Jared were completely different. “That is a tragedy. You should feel comfortable in your natural skin. You look beautiful like this.”
It was a rush. Jared could feel a lot more of his connection to his creatures, and it buzzed in him like an old radio springing to life. He ended up shrugging his shoulders once again, as if shrugging into a coat and not just his natural form, just to get used to it in less high stress situations than he was used to. “Is that how you feel? Comfortable? I mean in a …. Like a  uh-” he struggled for the words to express what he wanted to know for a moment before nodding. “Comfortable rather than like you’re high? Is it something you get used to? Is it just me that feels like i just took a belt that was too tight off after dinner?”
“Yes, I feel more comfortable like this that with a glamour. A glamour takes concentration,” Lydia replied as Julie returned with their glasses of red wine, setting them in front of her. “Put it on my tab,” she said, otherwise ignoring the very human bartender. “Wait, when you take off your glamour you feel high? What on earth are you talking about?” Lydia laughed, sipping at her wine. “Like the belt, yes, or taking off a bra, but nothing close to feeling high. How often do you take your glamour off, exactly?”
Jared would have made a noise of disagreement at the mention of a tab, as he’d wanted to buy Lydia a drink. But as it was, he was a little too distracted to do much else than try and keep his feet on the ground. “It feels like Cap has sneezed and zapped me by accident again.” He tried to describe, “But in a good way.” Jared shrugged and smiled lifting the glass of wine towards hers to clink their glasses together. “Not often.It can fall when I sleep sometimes, but mostly I can keep it on non stop for a few days.”
“Sorry, you’re going to need to explain that. Who is Cap? Why would him sneezing zap you?” Lydia smiled despite her confusion, because the young nymph was ever so charming, even in his strange ways. She clinked glasses with him, before her eyes widened even further. “You sleep with it. Why? Do you have a partner or friend that lives with you who doesn’t know?”
“Oh, Cap, as in Capacitor. He’s a new addition to my kids. He’s a Raiju I bought from some weird guy online. He’s a sickly little thing I think he’s allergic to dust. But he zaps.” Jareds knees were bouncing and he was speaking animatedly. The effects of taking the cap off of his body had him practically fizzing. He took a long sip of the wine and then set the glass down. “I used to. Grew up in a family of human deniers. There was something on me until my eighth birthday that helped hide me I think. But it wore off I guess so I learned to glamour fast. Endless trips to the hospital about my skin and all that you know? Not anymore though, Guess habits die hard. The only people who stay the night both know. Just don’t want to spook them I guess as well.” He smiled widely at Lydia. “It’s not a big deal, I just didn’t realize it had been so long being normal.”
“Capacitor? That is darling,” Lydia smiled, and nodded as if she knew what a Raiju was. Apart from, of course, that it apparently zapped things. Which meant that it was likely another creature she likely wanted to avoid, no matter how sweetly Jared smiled around his wine glass. As he explained his childhood, Lydia’s smile fell slightly, dripping into something closer to sympathy.  “Right. Of course. I’m sorry.” All the same, he was grinning, bouncing and floating with his energy. Even if she flinched at him calling it normal. “This is you being normal. Look, there.” Lydia pointed behind him. “That Nix certainly looks interested in you from over here.”
“He’s a sweet little guy. I’m lucky he wanted to stay after I bought him.” Jared waved a hand as if dismissing her apology. “It was what it was. It was tough, but I’m happy with how it all turned out. Inherited a farm, and got to grow up in the weirdest town in the state.” The nymph looked over his shoulder recklessly, before whipping back around embarrassed when he heard Lydia's reasoning for having him look. His cheeks warmed to a slightly darker tone and he took another drink of his wine just for something to do with his hands. He laughed a little and figetted. “Right, I don’t even know all the rules anything like this involves. I assume there are fae dating rules and all sorts I have no idea about. I really do know almost nothing.”
“You bought him to free him, then?” Lydia asked curiously, looking him over anew.  “I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. You’re their nymph.” She nodded at his explanation, with a small smile, and opted not to comment on it again, because family could be complicated even for the best of reasons. There were members of her family Lydia didn’t talk about either. “What a beautiful farm it is too,” Lydia said instead. She grinned as he looked behind himself, his cheeks and ears flushing darker. All that nervous, skittish energy had to go somewhere, and Lydia chuckled as he drank frantically from his drink. “I think most rules don’t stretch much further than not having sex with humans, but not all fae here even agree with that.  Then some extend the rule to not having sex with other supernatural species. Dating really isn’t that complicated.” Lydia glanced back to the Nix with a small laugh. “She’s very determined to catch your gaze.”
“The advert made me feel like if he was truly what was advertised, then he couldn’t go to someone who would use him as described. He was so sickly when I got him, I was right about this one.” Jared confirmed. “They all need protecting, even if they don’t stay long.” He wasn’t a novice in dating, he’d had a few relationships, but he fell completely out of touch. It had admittedly been a few years since his last attempt, and adding fae rules into the mix made him even more nervous than he would have been normally. “No humans huh?” he echoed before adding “You sure it’s not you she’s interested in?” He asked, determined not to look around for fear of making a fool of himself. So instead, his fingers tapped on the bartop, and his knee continued to bounce with unspent energy.
“That’s incredibly nobel of you. I know you’re their nymph, but it is still astonishing,” Lydia said, with real admiration glinting in her eyes. She swivelled her glass before finishing it off.  “Not all fae agree on that one either,” Lydia said airily, as if just recalling Beatrice’s existence didn’t make her stomach want to turn. As if she didn’t deliberately avoid thinking about Deirdre’s relationship prior to Morgan’s death. Lydia turned her attention back to the Nix with a much warmer smile. “Maybe she’s interested in the both of us, you don’t know.” Lydia chuckled warmly. “I’ll stop winding you up, shall I?” Lydia nudged him with her elbow.
Jared was coming down off of the initial high of being free, and was settling into a warm appreciation for the feeling instead. “Cap is almost domesticated, they tried really hard with him. So while I would have liked him to be normal, it’s good he stayed. Not sure he’d have made it on his own. I just want what's best for them is all.” He shrugged but still bounced his knee and even brought his thumb up to bite at the nail on this thumb as she teased him. The nymph spared a sneaky quick glance back at the Nix before turning back and huffing a breath at Lydia when she nudged him. “It’s so easy it’s almost rude to wind me up like that.” he pouted at her. “Don’t take advantage of the blond.” he tutted, hiding his smile poorly.
Lydia’s lips twitched slightly. “That’s a shame. I don’t know much about the beasts and creatures that share our world, but the wild ones should always be wild. No matter how frightening they might be. I’m glad he has you.” Lydia laughed as he glanced back over at the nix, as if one last glance would answer his questions. “You’re right, I’m being ever so terrible to you.” Lydia winked, spinning her empty wine glass between her fingers. “You’ll have to forgive me.” She looked around at all these beautiful, familiar faces, and her heart rang loud and clearly. This was as much a home as any. “Do you have plans for the upcoming fairy ring season?”
“I’ll forgive you for now I suppose.” Jared said poking his tongue out at her childishly in response following this up with a laugh. His eyes flickered around the bar again when Lydias did the same. He still felt like he was doing something so dangerous and bad, and yet, everyone here was doing the exact same. It was so strange, but also too invigorating to want to leave. “Oh I usually just haul up on the farm for a while. Lock the gates and text my friends I’m going on migration. It’s usually better that way. I don’t do very well with it.” he laughs uncomfortably. “I’ve gotten carried away one too many times when I was young.”
Lydia laughed, pushing his shoulder as he stuck his tongue out at her. “I’m not convinced anyone does well with it. We all end up seeing far too much of each other, in every meaning of the phrase, humans and other species get annoyed, it’s a whole time.” A human had died the last time Lydia had been in a fairy circle, which didn’t altogether bother her, but she did want to spare her friends that did care such troubles. Fortunately, there were many, many activities one could get up to that didn’t involve murder or even torture. Some would almost certainly make Jared flush bright red.. “I don’t think getting carried away is to bad a thing, but I know not everyone agrees.”
He thought he’d picked up on what she was putting down and Jared blinked before his voice lowered into a whisper whilst leaning in. “So being naked is like a full thing is it? Like for real, the urge isn’t just like…. Me being a weirdo?” He’d met so few fae, that anything to do with the upcoming season he usually kept firmly to himself. Everything that came with it always seemed so odd, but he was slowly learning that this mindset was definitely more human, and he most certainly should abandon it. “I guess….never let myself enjoy it, or at least not for a good few years. How do you…?...but also keep it a secret?” He wanted to know everything. He had so much catching up to do. “You seem to do all this so gracefully, one day maybe I’ll be half as good at being ...normal?” He laughed noticing her glass empty and trying to catch the bartenders eye for another, smiling warmly when they filled Lydia's glass again.
“What, no! Everyone gets naked. It’s a whole thing. It’s very freeing, to be honest.  Everything about the fairy rings is freeing. No holding back, no compunctions, just joy and thrill,” Lydia giggled, a little too loud as she leant in to match his whispers. “Well, that part is tricky,” she agreed. “I know some people handle it better than others and feel they have more control. I usually limit my social media, and I don’t party with non-fae, which limits the exposure. I try not to be naked during the day, and keep things safe.” She rolled her eyes at his self deprecating nature. “You’ll learn, darling. You are still so young. You have centuries to learn. Mushroom season isn’t always for everyone, either.”
She described it so wonderfully. It sounded amazing to be free like that, to just throw away the shame that humans taught themselves and just be how you wanted to. In a smaller way that’s how Jared felt about being without his glamour in this bar. He’d been missing out by not knowing how to identify other fae, that was very clear to him now. “Gotta unlearn all the human things first, but I’m getting there,” He lifted his glass and tapped the wim with her now refilled one. “But hey, tell me your plans. You sound like you’ll have all sorts of great things going on. You have people to party with?” He sipped his wine and paused before asking more tentatively. “More friends with wings?” Was it rude to comment on another faes appearance? He had no idea, but her wings were definitely catching his eyes every time they shifted behind her.
“You will get there,” Lydia agreed with an encouraging smile. He gave her hope for Regan too. She picked up her wine, swirling it as she thought about his answer. “The problem is the increased hunter presence in town. I tend to keep early august pretty easy. There aren’t as many rings around now anyway. If I happen to find myself in one, then that’s of course wonderful, but I don’t plan any until late august. From then? Normally, nonstop party until Halloween. Parties, with friends, with humans to prank, with the local leprechauns, whomever is available.” She smiled at him, wondering why he’d asked. “Not necessarily. Most of my friends here don’t have any, as it happens.”
Non stop partying sounded like a great time. Jared just knew he would never manage that, even if it wasn’t from the very start of the season.He loved his farm, but maintaining the place took a lot more than people realized. He’d be lucky to have even a few days free to parry without worry. “Wings are so pretty, but the idea is terrifying. Being able to wander away when you're high is already such a risk, but with wings you could just take off. And then flying itself seems so scary. Can you actually fly?” It seems the wine was loosening him up. He worried he’d overstepped again, but this time regretfully after he’d already said it.
“The idea of having wings is terrifying?” Lydia repeated, staring at him with wide eyes in confusion. “What? Jared, what?” She laughed, standing up. She looked around herself, making sure there was enough room behind her before she opened up the brown and yellow striped shells that stretched from her shoulder to the back of her knees. They raised up behind her until they were nearly shoulder heigh, where her wings rose up to her side. She was drawing more than a little attention and her wings began to trill and beat  as her feet lifted from the ground. She reached up to tap the ceiling, before coming back down.
“No flying inside,” Julia said, and Lydia rolled her eyes and imitated her mockingly.
“My point is, I can’t fly any higher than I just did. I’m not going to buzz off into the night sky.”
“Yeah flying just seems wild.” Jared responded. He watched in awe as Lydia stretched out her wings and took to the air. She was up and down before he could even fully register what she was showing him. He nodded solemnly and then quickly his face took on a cheeky grin. "Oh so you can't fly far, you'd need strong wings like a Valravn to get anywhere in life huh? Pretty wings like yours can’t carry you far.” And while Lydia would see the teasing smile, it seems the tone was completely lost on a gancanagh trying to get another beer behind the nymphs back. Jared was woefully unprepared as he was grabbed and yanked off his barstool forcibly.
“No, they can’t,” Lydia agreed, flicking them happily all the same. They were beautiful, and glowed with the same light that the rest of her did. They didn’t need to take her into the skies, just flutter her up into the branches of trees, and let her hover as she danced under the gaze of the mushrooms. Lydia didn’t notice the gancanagh either, not until it was much too late.
“You insulting her wings?” He asked gruffly. “You goddamn flatbacksh, no reshpect!”
“Sir, you’re drunk,” Lydia said, standing up in warning.
“Better drunk than him,” The gancanagh said, aiming a swing for Jared’s head.
His shirt was being held tight in the gancanaghs fist. Although he was taller than the other, Jared was completely lost with shock and had stumbled instead of finding his feet. This ended up putting the nymph at the mercy of the other fae. Jared raised his hands in panicked surrender but the other didn’t seem interested at all. His fist made contact and Jared could only tip his head back and take it in the jaw so that the drunk didn’t shatter his hand on the nymphs horns. Despite the threat, he didn’t want to cause lasting damage to someone standing up for Lydia. Jared wasn’t sure if he had been offensive or not. Addled by the punch and the drink, but perhaps he should have had better sense than to call himself stupid under his breath.
“Stupid? I’ll show you stupid you bastard.” The gancanagh dumped the nymph onto the floor and set to work rearranging his no good disrespectful face.
Jared brought his arms up finally to try and ward the other off. Stronger than him,but not by much he didn’t make very much headway.
Lydia jumped back with a yelp as the fight fell out. “Stop this!” She shouted, her voice jumping an octave and decibel. “Stop hitting him!” She winced, cringing away as Jared was punched in the jaw. Oh, lord, she hated violence. Fae were inevitably better than this, they had to be! They settled disputes with their tongues not their fists! “Stop this!” She yelped again, swatting the gancanagh’s dragonfly wings with her own firefly ones. It was enough to make him stop, if only because it was so rare for fae to ever touch each other’s wings as strangers, considered off limits and taboo. Especially for flatbacks, but wing-to-wing contact wasn’t quite as egregious. “Stop!” Lydia yelled again, grabbing the gancanagh’s arm and pulling him back with strength that didn’t seem like it ought to fit in her small frame.
Jared was trying to do some damage limitation. As he was being punched he curled up, arms over his face to try and stop the other doing too much. But he couldn’t do anything until the gancanagh let up. As soon as Lydia had touched wings with the guy he froze to look over his shoulder at her. This was the chance Jared took to help Lydia push the guy off of him. Once free to struggle out from under the bulkier fae, Jared shoved him to the ground and found himself at Lydias side a lot more banged up than he’d expected to be on a chill night drinking with a new friend. And he felt enormously guilty about it. “I’m sorry.” He said to her instantly. He couldn’t believe he’d said something offensive enough to be punched. What sort of idiot fae was he? They’d gotten the attention of the whole bar at this point and Jared hunched over as the bouncer came to remove them all.
 “No more tonight. Go home.” The bouncer said, hauling the drunk gancanagh to his feet.
She wasn’t too shocked when Julia, snitching human, called the bouncer over, although Lydia did roll her eyes, extremely pointedly. As they walked back through the door, her glamour slipped back on like she might a coat. “Why? You didn’t offend me, my dear, I don’t even know what a veal-ravine is.” The gancanagh glowered at them, before stalking off. Lydia chuckled. “You know, I suspect that might just have been the start of the fairy ring season. What a ringing welcome to the incoming season. At least it can only go up from here.”  She winked at him, before looking him over. “Are you hurt?” She asked softly.
Jared followed Lydias lead once again, his own glamour feeling a little bit like that feeling when a child was told playtime was over. It was back to feeling normal now that they were on the street. “I really thought I had considering…” His words trailed off as he watched the gancanagh walk away sheepishly. “First bird that popped into my head, skeletal raven, strong and amazing creatures. uh…. I didn’t really think it through.” Maybe describing the creature wasn’t the best way forward. Jared had to laugh when she spoke so positively about being thrown out of a bar. The nymph shook his head “Had a lot worse than a beat down, it’ll be okay.” Any discolouration was already covered by his glamour. Changing your skin so much tended to mean you covered an awful lot more than people thought. “Didn’t mean to get us kicked out, can I walk you home?” He offered her an arm. “In compensation.”
Lydia’s eyebrows vanished into her hairline at his explanation as to what, exactly, veal-ravines were. “As… fascinating as those sound, I think I’ll stick to my wings over anything skeletal.” She laughed softly, falling in step with him as she took his arm. Even in heels, her head barely reached his shoulder - they must have made quite the pair as they walked through the town. “Ah, c’est la vie. Company with you was all I was really looking for.” She said with a simple shrug. Faetal Attraction was the one losing out. “However, I must say, Mr. Nymph of Vicious Creatures, you really weren’t very vicious in there.”
“Oh yeah for sure, for sure.” Jared agreed on the spot. “Your wings are wonderful I was just trying to joke around...guess I’ll have to work on my humour too.” he chuckled accompanied by a shrug. Nothing he could do now, but try and remember wings were definitely a no go topic in public. The nymph makes a noise of disapproval and bumps his hip into her. “Hey now, just because my kids are vicious doesn’t mean I have to be. I’m soft so my kids can do the damage. Plus I thought I’d messed up, wouldn’t have been fair.” He pouted at her pitifully. A master of the puppy dog look as he’d been able to replicate the eyes of one of his bonedoggle pups when they were whining. “You absolutely overpowered the guy though, my hero.”
Lydia snickered as he hip bumped her. “You are a big softie. Not the only one in town, either.” He pouted at her, and Lydia resisted his puppy eyes for a whole second before giving him a light push. “That isn’t playing fair.” Lydia laughed as they reached the causeway, the sea still and soothing on either side of them. “Oh gosh. If he’d thrown a punch at me, I would have gone down like a stack of dominoes. We’re a strong species, but that doesn’t mean I know what to do with it, beyond lifting couches to clean under them.”
“Well being kind doesn’t cost a thing, so maybe I’m just trying to lead by example. See if it’ll rub off on the people who need to know that the most...like not letting that drunk guy shatter his hand on my horns. Boy would he have really not been happy with that.” Jared laughed and stumbled sideways slightly before pulling himself back in with their linked arms. “Ah but why be fair when you can win by being cute?” The thought of the other fae being punched didn’t sit well with Jared, she was so small, not defenseless, definitely not weak, but the ganacash had been rather huge in comparison. “You clean under couches?” He asked jokingly to brush past the image of her being knocked out in his mind. The breeze was pretty nice as they continued to walk. He was letting her lead the way considering he had no idea where she lived, but it seemed to be a really nice area.
“Being kind cost you a punch!” Lydia disagreed vehemently. “Although no, I suppose punching your horns would be rather… unpleasant. Then again, he oughtn’t have been aiming for your horns in the first place.” She rolled her eyes, although he was entirely correct - Jared was cute as hell, in both meanings of the word. “Well, I normally have a cleaner in twice a week to do it for me,” Lydia winked, leading them towards Harris island. “But yes, should the need arise. Are you saying you don’t?”
“Ahh what's a punch in a bar every now and then. Maybe the guy thought horns were sensitive or something. They’re absolutely not, but drunk brain can get to you if you’re not careful.” Jared reasoned for the guy who’d clocked him in the face. “Ohhh fancy, a cleaner. If I could afford one I don’t think they’d be too pleased with the state of the place, even after Nell and Blanche moved in and out again.” The nymph laughed. “I didn’t really think about lifting the couches, I just sort of...sweep around it? Probably harbouring some cute new kids under there soon. Dust bunnies are adorable.” He nudged her playfully. “You should let one move in.”
“Drunk brain is no excuse for such…. Abhorrent behaviour. Jared, you are far too kind to the man who punched you,” Lydia said, her affectionate smile softening the comment. She rolled her eyes, not about to be shamed for her well earned wealth - she’d worked hard for it! So had her humans. “That’s the great thing about cleaners. You pay them not to judge you.” At his suggestions, Lydia couldn’t help but pull a mildly disgusted face. “Jared, you could be the cutest person in the whole town, and you would still never be able to persuade me to let a dust bunny move in. Having a dog around is bad enough, in terms of the mess.” Lydia stopped in front of her mansion, modern and gleaming with its large windows on every floor. “Unfortunately, this is my stop, and I must bid you goodnight, my dear.”
The nymph waved her worries away. What was done was done, and truly Jared had no hard feelings for the ganacash. Maybe the guy was too quick to jump the gun, but clearly he had some bad experience with people talking about wings. The change on Lydias face however sent Jared into a whirlwind of laughter. “Woah really? Not even if I do the puppy dog eyes? Dust bunnies are adorable!” He was only teasing, even if everything he said he did consider true. But his outlook on creatures would never match up to other peoples. He’d come to accept that. Stopping at the door Jared looked up at the house and grinned. “Nice place. Goodnight Lydia. Thanks for taking me out, and not letting that guy bash me in.” Jared was a trail of light laughter as he walked back the way they’d come, waving at Lydia all the way until he was gone from her sight.
surveys by lets-make-surveys
1 - When you wake up, do you get up straight away or do you lie around in bed for a while? Lie in bed, even on work days. I work from home, so there’s nothing to prepare or look nice for, anyway. I can stay in bed and just roll out of it and head to my desk at 9 AM to start the day.
2 - Who was the last person you video-called with? Have you done this more often since COVID hit? Video calls make me anxious, so I’ve always turned them down even when it was someone I’m close with who was trying to call, like Angela. The only person I’ve felt comfortable having video calls with was Gab but that obviously hasn’t happened in a while. I think the last people I saw on video was my dad’s family, though I was still shy and asked my mom not to put me in the shot for too long.
3 - How many times a week do you go out for food or drink? Back then I’d do it 2-3 times a week. Then Covid happened and I had to stop; but now that I’m starting to try to put in more effort to take care of myself, I try to bring myself to a coffee shop for me time at least once during weekends.
4 - Do you prefer getting takeaway or actually sitting in a restaurant and eating your meal there? Dine-in. For me ambience is a big part of eating food, and even if I had the once-in-a-lifetime chance of getting to eat the absolute best meal in the whole world, if I’m eating it alone at home I would still feel like shit.
5 - Where’s your favourite place to get takeaway coffee (or whatever your drink of choice is)? Starbucks. We have five joints in the highway I live on alone, so it’s both a personal preference and a I-don’t-really-have-a-choice type of situation haha.
6 - Do you tend to keep your phone on silent, vibrate or loud? It’s on vibrate during work days; then I’ve formed a habit of putting it on Do Not Disturb during weekends or holidays.
7 - If you have pets, when was the last time one of them annoyed you? What happened? Cooper thought my hand was a toy earlier so he was biting on it, and not in a very playful way.
8 - When was the last time you went into a bookshop? Around a week ago when I was buying presents; I needed to get my cousin the mechanical pencils and eraser she wanted for Christmas. I also came across the bookshop that Gab and I would make a habit to visit, but I didn’t go inside as I didn’t know if I was prepared for the memories that would inevitably flood back. I looked through the stuff they had on their windows, though.
9 - What was the last thing you ordered off Amazon? I don’t know if Amazon operates here. But the last thing I got from a local e-commerce app - don’t judge me HAHA - is a phone socket featuring the face of my newest K-drama crush. I placed my order literally 10 minutes ago.
10 - When was the last time you took a dog out for a walk? Is this your own dog or did you borrow someone else’s? Yesterday. Both were my family’s dogs.
11 - What jewellery do you have on at the moment? Not wearing any, haven’t worn any in a while.
12 - Do you have any products in your hair right now? What are they? Just shampoo and conditioner. I never put anything else on it; I don’t really deem hair products other than those two a necessity.
13 - Have you ever used a VPN to access foreign content online? Hahaha no. I’ve wanted to try it out, but I’ve always been paranoid that the NBI would come knocking at my door the moment I install one of those.
14 - Who was the last artist you listened to? Is this someone you’re a fan of? She’s a Korean singer named Cheeze, though she’s honestly unfamiliar to me. The song she contributed for the OST of Start-Up is my absolute favorite in the entire tracklist, and that’s how I knew of her.
15 - What was the last thing you had to drink? I’m at a cafe joint right now and they didn’t have my usual order of caramel macchiato, so I opted for a Spanish latté because it sounded new to me.
16 - When was the last time you cooked something for the first time? Did it work out the way it was supposed to? I made a Monte Cristo sandwich, if that counts as ~cooking; this was about a little more than a monthh ago. It worked out significantly better than I was expecting, given how rubbish I am in the kitchen. I lacked a couple of ingredients, like mustard for the sauce and the right kind of cheese, but I still ended up liking it.
17 - Black cats are considered to be bad luck - is this a superstition that you’ve ever believed in? Not me personally, but I know this is still widely believed in my country. It’s sad, so I approach black cats whenever I can and play with them for a bit.
18 - Would you ever eat blue cheese or do you find the idea of eating mould to be pretty repulsive? It is definitely not my favorite; I’d say 5 times out of 10 I would consume it, and the other 5 I would set it aside. I enjoy it the most in pizzas and as a sauce for chicken wings.
19 - Do you visit the dentist every six months like you should? Is that the standard schedule? Lmao. I only go when I have to.
20 - How old were you when you first used the internet? Was it dial-up or did you have access to proper broadband? I was first exposed to the internet at around the ages of 3 and 4, when my mom would use the dial-up internet to email my dad (he had just started to work abroad). For many years I thought Yahoo Mail was the only website that existed, since that’s all I saw my mom use. Eventually my dad got broadband for the family by the time I was 10, and the first website I ever looked up was YouTube.
21 - Are you old enough to remember using floppy discs? I remember those; I just never had to use them myself.
22 - When was the last time you purchased an actual DVD or CD? Andi gave me a Petals For Armor CD for Christmas, if it counts. Because they’re the most awesome fucking friend. The last DVD I bought myself was probably a Beyoncé's Life Is But A Dream, which was...holy crap, 7 whole years ago.
23 - Do you shave? Which body parts and how often? I do. I shave my underarms every few days, and my legs monthly.
24 - What’s your favourite season, and what are some of your favourite things about that season? We don’t have the usual four seasons we hear about in other countries; we only have wet and dry. Between those two, I definitely like wet more because I love the rain, and I like how cold it can get.
25 - When was the last time you burned yourself? I took a big bite of a lumpiang togue yesterday when it was still piping hot, so it felt like I almost burned my tongue and the roof of my mouth. But since I was a guest at my dad’s family’s house, I couldn’t spit it out.
26 - Have you ever been the victim of a theft or robbery? What was stolen? Did the police ever catch the person who did it? Someone stole my wallet in high school, and I never got it back. It was a small petty thing that the police didn’t need to be involved in, lol. I know my mom’s family got robbed when she was a teenager, though; the worst thing that got stolen was their grand piano :(
27 - What was the last TV show you discovered that you really liked? What was it that got you to watch it in the first place? START UP. I first heard of it from my co-workers who would mention the show here and there; and because I was new to the team and wanted to have something in common with them so that I can break the ice, I figured I should start on the show myself. Ended up getting obsessed with the show and gaining a new Korean crush altogether.
28 - Have you seen any of the live-action Disney remakes? Which one is your favourite? What about your least favourite? No, those have never looked even remotely appealing to me. I never saw the point of recycling movies that already exist and already feel magical by themselves.
29 - Do you have any exciting plans for tomorrow? If not, how are you planning to spend your day? It doesn’t sound exciting on its own, but I’m very much looking forward to be a homebody tomorrow haha. We’ve been with extended family for five days straight and I’m at a café right now for some me time, so tomorrow I can’t wait to just be at home and lounge around.
30 - Would you ever keep a working dog as a pet? Do you think it’s fair to keep dogs like huskies in flats when it’s so different to their natural environments? If the dog is already trained or certified to be a certain kind of working dog, I don’t see the point in keeping them for myself when they could be beneficial for other purposes. The only time I see myself adopting a working dog is if they’re already at the point of retirement and would need a loving home to live out their remaining years.
--
1 - Are you a fan of garlic bread? Do you eat it on its own or as part of a bigger meal? Love garlic bread; I regularly have it with my pasta and occasionally, pizza.
2 - When was the last time your area was under some kind of weather warning? Did it end up being as bad as predicted? Last month, during Typhoon Rolly. Other cities had worse experiences, but it also wasn’t sunshine and rainbows on our end. We had a blackout for around two days and I had to file for an emergency leave four days into my new job, which was super embarrassing. It didn’t flood in our street but the water was high in other areas in our village, so we couldn’t go out for a while.
3 - Do you ever buy things from charity/thrift shops? What was the last thing you bought from there? I don’t recall ever buying anything from either.
4 - The last time you got fast food, did you eat in, takeaway or go through the drive-thru? My last fast food wasssssss Jollibee, and my parents got it for takeout so that we could eat as a family at home.
5 - If you have multiple pets, do they get along with each other? Hahaha no they don’t. It’s been six months since we got Cooper but the two still don’t get along, unless it’s Kimi trying to hump him. It’s understandable; Cooper is a vibrant pup that’s super excited and play bites all the time, and on the other side is a nearly 13 year old, nearly blind, can’t-smell-as-well-as-he-used-to senior dog; and I get that Kimi’s more sensitive to sudden movements now.
6 - Do you ever buy things off eBay? If you do, do you participate in auctions or do you just use the “buy it now” option? I never go on eBay. And since I’ve never checked it out, I never understood the gimmick of the website.
7 - When you go out, do you worry that you’ve forgotten to lock the door or turn something off? Yeah, this is especially the case with locking the front door.
8 - What fruits and vegetables have you eaten so far today? Do you tend to get your “five a day”? I didn’t know five a day is a thing of some sort; but it’s only 8:47 AM and I haven’t eaten anything at all yet today.
9 - When was the last time you were in pain? What caused it and did you manage to get it sorted in the end? Last night when my back was giving me hell. As for the cause...idk, years of bad posture maybe? I was able to deal with it for a bit with the new massage pillow that my dad got for Christmas.
10 - Do you live in an area that gets lots of snow? Do you like it? If not, would you like to live somewhere that gets that cold? I would love to move somewhere that’s generally more cold. Humidity gets exhausting to deal with.
11 - What was the reason for your last doctor/hospital visit? My fever had already been lasting for a week and wasn’t showing signs of going away. No Covid symptoms, just pure hellish fever.
12 - If someone had told you that 2020 would see a global pandemic, countries going into lockdown, compulsory face masks and millions of deaths, would you have ever believed that you’d live through something like that? My personal biggest surprise for 2020 wasn’t even the pandemic. I would have had a more violent reaction if I was told I would no longer be in a relationship and be barely talking to my then-girlfriend of six years by the end of 2020.
13 - Do you prefer having the blinds/curtains open or closed when you’re at home? Does it depend on the weather or the time of day? Always closed. I don’t ever voluntarily open the curtains or windows to let the sunshine in.
14 - Do you use an ad-blocker on your computer or phone? Why/why not? I use one on my laptop because the ones on YouTube can be extremely annoying. I didn’t know it was possible to put on ad blockers on phones (is it?).
15 - Do you still use a paper diary/planner to organise your appointments and schedules? No, but I’m thinking of getting a planner again for 2021. I used to get a Starbucks planner every year just because I wanted to get into their Christmas promo hype, but I never completed any of them. Now that I’m working and am busier all around, I see the bigger need for a planner. These days, I use a Google extension called Momentum to list down my to-do tasks. My parents also got me a corkboard for Christmas on which I stick notepads with things I have to do for the day.
16 - When was the last time you charged one of your electronic items? Do you have to charge that specific item often? I’m charging my laptop now. At this point it’s always plugged in because I want to keep the cycle count low, though I’m not sure if it’s the healthiest thing to do.
17 - Have you ever thrown or broken something in a temper? Yes, definitely. I’m not normally aggressive when angry, but sometimes it happens.
18 - What does your outfit look like today? Did you pick it out for a special reason? I have on a black sundress that I didn’t change out of. I wore it yesterday when I went to a coffee shop to spend some time on my own.
19 - Do you follow any vlogs or podcasts? What is it about them that interests you? I do follow certain channels who do vlogs, but I never tune into them since most of them have gotten a little uninteresting. I’m also subscribed to several podcasts like Andi’s and Renee Young’s, but I’m not always in a podcast mood; I subscribe because I want to support them.
20 - Aside from Tumblr, what websites do you spend the most time on? Do you go through phases of visiting certain websites? I visit Twitter and YouTube the most often. I will binge Reddit every now and then, and I will get into a Wikipedia black hole at least once a week.
21 - Do you have a good relationship with your siblings? If you don’t have siblings, what about your cousins or extended family? I do not maintain a relationship with my brother after he physically assaulted me last year. My sister and I are on good terms, but we’re not close in that I can cry to her or that we know each other’s secrets. We have a very good casual relationship, and we never argue.
22 - When was the last time you were up early enough to see the sunrise? I hate the sun so I don’t really do that lol.
23 - What movie series did you last watch from start to finish? Was it one you’d seen before? I only ever do this with Twilight. I have my annual Twilight Saga marathon where I watch all five films in one afternoon hahaha.
24 - Do you still enjoy watching children’s TV programmes? What was the last one you watched? Yeah, but only the ones I watched as a kid. My cousins and I watched the Wet Painters episode of Spongebob last Christmas Eve right after we finished Midsommar.
25 - Who was the last person to tag you in something on social media? How do you know that person? I have no idea. I’ve been going in and out of deactivation, so at this point I’m sure people no longer have any clue if I’m on a certain social media website or not.
26 - What was the last thing you took a photograph of? It was a screenshot of something I wanted to show Angela.
27 - Are you a fan of giving animals human names? Sure. I certainly find it funny when pets are given incredibly ordinary human names, like Bob or Mark.
28 - When was the last time you weighed yourself? Were you happy with what the scale said? Christmas Eve eve, when I saw a weighing scale in my cousin’s room. I mean it’s what I’ve weighed for the last 5 years or so, so I have no complaints.
29 - How often do you buy yourself new clothes? What was the last clothing item you bought for yourself? Used to be a few times every month, but I have not bought anything new since before the pandemic. The last items I got were still the tops with puffed sleeves that I bought in March.
30 - What is the reason behind your mood today? Is this something you could have done something about? I’m mostly at ease; a little anxious because work continues for a certain headache of a client even though we told them our office would be on shutdown; and a little melancholic for no reason. I’m trying to combat the latter by doing my embroidery and it’s kind of helping, but the sads are still lingering.
B - BRASS ; CO - COPPER ; S - SILVER Initially, we had started with few of Silver, more of brass and copper based jewelleries such as German Silver which created a trend not only among the public but also in the cine industry throughout India. Later on we have moved on to curate more of silver jewelleries as we couldn't resist the beauties that are out on daily basis from talented artisans across the country. Recently we have started with our temple jewellery wing as well. We do not sell whatever comes in the market, we carefully curate knowing the pulse of our customers and add every product into our collections, our costs are based on piece rate.
